Gotta be careful not to cut off too much of the cable though... it's best to coil up the excess so it can be unrolled later if the modem needs relocating. (Every time you add a splitter / joiner to a coax cable you introduce a MINIMUM 3.5db loss to the signal. Lose too much signal and the cable will need to be replaced anyway.)
