Also... use a starter, stable distro that is backed by neckbeards. Everyone goes for Mint.... that is a "beginner" distro but not as throughly tested. Yes... it is an Ubuntu fork but that doesn't mean everything lines up. I would say start with Ubuntu and then if you're interested in Mint... switch to Mint when you have some chops.

OC is usually fine, your options usually are ones that are known to be stable, when you start tweaking manually is when it can go wrong

while theres technically a best, the difference between gen5 ultratop ssd vs budget dramless ssd is like 40s vs 41s, but the gen3 is 1/5th the cost and only 1% slower
the "type of speed" that faster ssds improve on just isnt the kind of speed that os and games use
