guys can u pls rate my chair
No fuck off
bc I'm ab to buy it
Ok fine
as long as your not 150kg it should hold up
was you oiled up again
Not this time
guys im planning to get a new pc and I have an extra sata ssd 1tb drive, do I need to spend the extra 50$ for an nvme drive andd the hype or is a sata still fine
SATA is fine if it doesn't annoy you
The only person who can decide that is you
I move large folders around and sata was really pissing me off
i just play games and do school work
this is a hell of a screenshot (for those who know)
Then you're fine
Nvme is very very fast. SATA is just okay.
but for what
Moving large folders
my friend is building his pc for the first time and his PSU is modular. both ends of the cables are the same can he plug the wrong end into the PSU or does it not matter
SATA is good for your purposes
This doesn't mean that water is killing people
dih
Bought it for £500, I have never had a full loop before but can't learn unless you try
YES YOU CAN
no no dih
brainrot
rate https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vNQCgn i have a 2080 and a 1tb
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Montech X3 Mesh ATX Mid Tower
i got a little questions about a PSU, since im gonna need a new one for my pc since my current one is now almost 15 years old. i cant find the Corsair RM650e nor the RM750e on the PSU Tier list. Are they any good and which should i rather take. according to PCPP my pc doesnt draw more than 590w at MAX
also i dont plan on Overclocking my PC
the GPU is a little too weak for that CPU
its spare so i cant change it
It's fine
i was about to say, realistically its gonna be fine but like matching components to a T is not neccessary
No such thing as a gpu being too weak for a cpu
It may be too weak for the performance he desires but it is not like it wont work
Can I run it?
The CPU can slow down a GPU because the calculations done on the GPU still have to pass through the CPU
But the stuff done on the CPU stay on the CPU so it has nothing to do with the GPU
"matching" components is a dumb thing invented on TikTok
When I run the windows install from my usb stick it only shows my usb stick as an install location
What is this sorcery
anyone know how to unlock? windows really sucks ngl
If your hardware doesn't support it then you cant unlock it
it does
Why not AM5?
What's your budget?
I can't read on Thaiphoon Burner
checked the code in the error but couldn't find anything
Um. For an entire PC about 500
And you have what only some DDR4 ram?
No I have two matching sticks of ddr4 3600mhz 32gb
And what CPU do you have rn?
not bad for general phone use on the go
Technically any PSU can be fully modular once.
(But um, please don't actually cut off the wires from a non-modular PSU unless you know you'll never need them again and you protect the cut ends with electrical tape.)
what monitor brightness level (in nits) is ideal to view in a very bright room with direct sunlight?
Whatever feels right for your eyes at your desk in your office space. There's no "right" or "wrong" answer - you want a brightness level that's comfortable to use for as long as you stare at the screen.
You may wish to combine brightness adjustments with something like https://justgetflux.com/ to manage the color temperature of your screen over time throughout the day.
ok- i looked at the specs of this monitor i'm using (not mine) (using it bc it's in the office w/ a standing desk). typical brightness of 300 nits
but what's "typical?"
oh 300 nits max
Can some one recommend me a oled screen for a ps5
well thanks@formal sonnet
Did the next best thing
I don't want to cut the wires because Supermicro charge a fortune for these
how does one make a flash drive bootable?
If you're looking to make a Windows install USB, tada! https://www.howtogeek.com/874846/how-to-do-a-clean-install-of-windows-11/
ok, which is easier? Microsoft Media Creation Tool or Rufus?

Both are very easy
use mmct
ok
more straightforward
For a Windows install USB, Microsoft's official tool is the best simplest option.
ok
which one for the value for 1080p gaming
The Ryzen
Do i need to install windows 11 onto the drive after that or will the media creation tool do it itself?
The media creation tool does all this.
holy
O ok
question are those laptop ram to desktop ram adaptors trust worthy/
No.
https://www.ifixit.com/products/fixhub-power-series-smart-soldering-iron
would this be good for a beginner when it becomes available?
not at all?
Sure, except its quite expensive, if you have the budget its very nice
They are garbage
Absolutely
What I plan to use it for will eventually pay for itself
Then it is very good, ifixit has always made quite the good stuff
Always has been a reputable company
At least in my experience
Though I got a question about something. If I were to charge to replace a battery in like a GBA game for example what should I charge? (I know it’s a fast job to do (around 3-5 minutes or so))
pinecil
How much work is it to take apart a GBA
I wouldn't guess much, but you never know with retros
A single screw
How much does the battery cost
I have the screwdriver for gba games
My local game store sells them for like $2-3
How many solder points
2
Id say 10 bucks is fair
That too, 2 bucks for labor
I can probably get a discount on the batteries
you could always go the apple route and charge smth like 15$ or 20$ Don't.
lol no I’m not a jerk
Which one is better?
Logitech G502 Hero or VXE R1
(logitech is cheaper)
Vxe R1 is like 5 dollars more expensive
Wtf a smart soldering iron
sup chat
what
what you dont pay for the server you make up for in power bills
those xeons are fucking HONGRY
I’m 17
someone's paying for the power
#notme
Music video by Skee-Lo performing I Wish. (C) 1995 Volcano Entertainment III, LLC
Server cpus aren’t really worth it for normal use
But free
i mean i have a dual xeon sitting in my closet kidna just idling rn
i need to finish getting it rolling as a NAS
i think i already have immich running - i am undecided if i should make it accessible to the internet
I’m just starting to use it
because what i could honestly do is just keep everything backed up locally and then sync when i get home and such
What are you gonna use it for anyways?
i just need photos and passwords for the most part - and more random stuff as i see fit, it runs proxmox so i have the freedom to do whatever
and i know that question wasnt directed towards me just putting it out there
You could charge people to use it for mebsites
too much work and i dont have a public ip anyways
Take this with me on vacation
That's very travel capable
Laptop?
Look at the video
How good/bad is XIGMATEK in the AIO market?
fucking WHO
My same reaction
if you have an amd cpu get a peerless assassin, otherwise get an arctic lf3
Idk
That Chinese brand that makes Cases and Coolers
^^
Would it be fine to unplug and turn off my PC to move it to get better connection while setting it up?
I already have the Arctic LF3 as my main option, but XIGMATEK has basically the same performance and price but with a LCD screen
just use the lf3
But LCD screen
the xigmatek probably uses an asetek pump
I'm not sure if it looks like this but here it is.
https://velkase.com/products/velka-3?srsltid=AfmBOoqFdquJVqb2dUfCGwKrzjrj1ebFGxutLKbvtpMggASs_gLd9vQL found the case
Description The Velka 3 is the smallest case with ITX length graphics card and internal power supply support at a volume of just 3.99 L. The latest revision 3.0 features a more eye-pleasing top appearance with a bottom PSU orientation, motherboard compatibility fixes, a more durable textured powdercoat, and full steel
I wonder how much power you could cram into this thing
just use the lf3
Yeah just use the lf3 you're getting the most amount for your dollar and the screen doesn't really matter that much
Alr
If you really want the screen you can have it hooked up with some external software
you're most likely going to have to do that yourself
They wouldn’t make any money at all doing that from home
I wonder if i should get G502 proteus spectrum second hand or i should pay 6 times more and get VXE R1 brand new but i can refund second hand one but not VXE R1
Cause its chineese mouse we cant get them :d
Amazing ball of gumworld
I'm trying to reduce space and want to get a 360 retro gaming device that would have deadpool on it any know how of any that would have it
What?
I ordered an attack shark x6 from aliexpress, lasted less than a month with it and ordered a g502 lightspeed because I just can't stand the cheap feeling build, and I am not sure if it is just mine, but the left button makes a reeaallly annoying squeaky sound every couple of clicks. If you are like me you will end up proving to yourself that cheap stuff always costs more in the long run
I can't remember the right name for it
i have an mchose ax5 pro max and i love the shit out of it - feels very premium and is still light
That is particularly the case with mice, because they are extremely precise things in terms of manufacturing
g502 proteus spectrum and g502 lightspeed is really different though 😦
https://www.reddit.com/r/MouseReview/comments/1c87y4j/mchose_ax5_pro_max_8khz_review/
it's a magnesium alloy
iits 5 times more than what g502 proteus spectrum costs 😦
I have a g502 X plus with powerplay mat
not sure if this is good or bad, i just undervolted my gpu but these fans are loud asf runnign occt
Ur fans are at 30%
I was talking about the quality of the Chinese stuff. Also, mice usually last a VERY long time, but do you really believe you'll be able to clean up all the previous owner's sweat from it? ...I am not against buying used, just not for something you'll be touching non stop
Yes thats why i wasnt sure if i should get it
i agree with you %100 but budget is also the problem
theyre way louder than 30% i think afterburner is just wrong since i used fan control
razer bazilisk/basilisk v3 maybe?
73% right now
My current mouse is called performax xotran dont know its mcu it has PAW3327 sensor and thats all
What?
It doesnt understand most of my movements too
Yeah that's not 30% lol
yea ik but like everything else, voltage, clock speed is it good?
I will probably jsut mess with fan curves once i figure out this undervolting stuff for my gpu
sry, miss-clicked 😐 , but I am in the same boat actually...I did the same thing with mine (7800xt) and I hear these fans with noise canceling headphones
razer bazilisk/basilisk v3 maybe? ...they are both pretty cheap compared to the 502 lightspeed and are still good to hold in hand with decent sensors (v3 should be better between the 2 of course)
Is it normal my pc is taking fucking forever to do anything, i just built it
well what are the specs
could be windows update running in the background
if you have a hdd, id gamble you installed your OS on it instead of an ssd
64gb ram, 9070 xt and 9800xed
Specs?
Only an SSD in there
Damn. 5.5B internet users
@clear canyon
So about 67.9% of the global population
ngl install linux
That doesn't tell us much, we need ssd too
hmm
Your mom makes it 5.6B /s
windows 11? do you have the drivers you need
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Deepcool CG580 4F ATX Mid Tower
Thats my build
I wonder who the 33.1% remaining in the world are
What's taking long to load
do you just have bad internet? 😄
Tryna go to YouTube
is your internet ok?
You probably have slow internet, or if you have an ad blocker, that also affects yt speed with they trying to prevent ppl from doing it
try that ,or just get ethernet
or just plug it in
Ew, wifi
Why is there a graph within the graphs? I've never seen this before.
I want to install 1tb of steam games
Wifi = Cryfi
since its messers things
kernal time
Im not running a 100ft ethernet cable through my parent's house
What? That's just taskmanager, its existed for over 20 years
What is your internet speed
probably one per thread
Some games (like VRChat) can perform better in WiFi. I was having constant connection timeouts over Ethernet, but was completely fine over WiFi. That said, I get much faster Steam transfer speeds over Ethernet, and it's much better to stream games to friends with as well.
It's normally 1 solid colour, though.
That's just wrong, your ethernet controller is just fucked bc wifi will always be inferior to ethernet
right click and change graph if you just want one
just check openspeedtest, then download their app, run it and test from another PC(or phone) on that network- you will know if it is the wifi
It's probably more of a VRChat thing, doesn't happen on any other game, and VRChat is just scuffed.
this is an edge case, but I'd take wifi 7 over 1gig ethernet any day, and I am a network engineer
But I do like to being it up as an example, because it does show that it's not always the case.
That is absolute garbage. It may be true for you in your specific instance, but it's absolutely not the case generally
I wouldn't, I'd rather have constant latency over wifi latency
It is.
It definitely is a niche case, but it is definitely a case.
Just bc it's faster, does not mean it's better
thats fully dependent on location of the AP
Well then, why wasn't it?
yes wifi mb/s in good cases is vary good 100% i take ethernet still even if in practice i get higher GB/s with wifi
It's a case of your wired network being fucked.
It was only that one game, and it's fine in every other game.
Ethernet is actually better in every other game.
that just doesnt make sense
What you mean is that you didn't notice the difference
That's not even close to the same thing
Whay doesn't
Idk
Bruh, just check
wifi performing better in VR Chat but not in other games
I mean I was having constant time-outs every 2 - 3 minutes and struggling to connect. Switched over to WiFi and the issue was immediately fixed.
Wifi is overall worse than ethernet
im aware
It's quite possible that the vrchat network code is particularly sensitive to network issues.
openspeedtest, google it
holy shit creaperhead is now floatplan 'ing'
Now you are aware^2
lol
I have for a long time now 🤣
Like 2 years
I like that if I overheat food in the microwave I can just blast it with the fan on my desk for 10 seconds
Yes, I'm not saying that what you observed wasn't happening, I'm saying the conclusions you have drawn are based on a lack of understanding.
It has seemed to be fixed since, but it was a legitmate example. It still confuses me to this day, though.
Was an issue like that for a week or so, so I switched to WiFi for a while, but I'm back on Ethernet now.
Ezpz, your wired network is broken in some way and either loses packets or disconnects/reconnects
And the way in which vrchat dealt with that caused those issues
Connection to server is prob ass
.... You meanbto the switch.
Because the server in this case would be on the internet.
I figured it would've shown up on an internet speed test or appeared as an issue in other games that are very sensitive to packet loss (like 3rd-party multiplayer mods).
I'm talking about the vrchat connection, its probably ass
Yes
wha- what the fuck i didn't saw before, did i just slept for 2 year
can't believe time is flying
why is there like no big canadaian devs
like all these big devs are usually in america
on the networking part...has anybody figured out a way to use intel BE200 cards on amd systems?
Bc yes
Why would it bc an issue to not?
Just connect it
does canada just not want to invest in the tech industry or something
And it should work
Not how that works
Start one.
it should, but it doesn't...found out the hard way 😄
cant im poor
Huh? The Canadian government has ISED, but otherwise they don't decide whether or not a company sets up shop here... https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/ised/en
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada | Official site
Just don't be poor, that ez
Finally got around to upgrading from my old i7 8700 (Went to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D). I haven't changed my graphics card yet (RTX 2080) (planning on doing that in a few months) but there is already a noticeably big difference in some games e.g FF7 Rebirth.
it works on old pcie 1.0/2.0 amd systems 💀
Idk it just feels like canada is behind in the tech field compared to america
its because when a canadian company gets big enough they get sold or move to america lol
Currently Canada economy is complete ass
like only Canadian dev I can think of warframe devs
Idk if I agree with that one
Its cheaper to exsist in the us
Correct. The stonk market, multiple "tech centered" large cities, and global distribution system are all based out of the US, making it much more logistically "simple" to operate certain industries.
... The tech field entirely consisting of large game development studios?
try going to the dentist there 😄
It's almost like there's a global economy and trade
Its not expensive, last dentist appointment was 20 bucks
even small dev teams dont see that many canadian ones
Video game companies based in Canada.
Balatro dev.
mine are almost all free in Bulgaria, if we are flexing 😄
yeah I know he was canadian
Was. Wait, did he die?
Shitty mouse
not in turkey apparently they are pretty expensive
no
Oh my... there are quite a few big-name game dev studios that began in Canada:
- BioWare
- Relic Entertainment
- Rockstar Canada
- Ubisoft
Or mouse pad is not even
how do i make it even, i felt inconsistent drag while drifting my mouse

Wrong. 😛 They're Scottish in their roots. Good old DMA Design.
We don't have any big name fabs like Intel or TSMC here.
You talk a lot of shit for someone who knows nothing
This takes me WAAAAAAY back. Rockstar made this gem of a puzzle platformer between GTAI and GTAII. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9USZHJQwcY

We do have cool things like particle accelerators, though.
most canadian tech stuff is like secondary dev teams from other countries
no like home grown tech
... I mean, there's two countries in the world that do.
Which one should i get VXE R1 / Attack Shark X3 / Attack Shark r1 / Attack shark X11 / Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum / AJAZZ AJ159 Pro 8k?
Korea also.
My point is - why does it matter.

I provided an example.
"omg my country does have specialist production of item X"
I just know they werent canadian
Lol, stop getting your panties in a twist, I was just showing an example.
Shopify is home grown. Rainmaker Studios gave us the first fully computer-animated television series.
is shopify a tech company tho
.... High end fabs is a terrible example
I kinda like Heimskr's liturgy. Positively declaring that Talos was an ass-man. There's a deity I can identify with.
wouldnt that be like calling amazon a tech company
It's only the most important businesses in the tech sector.
.... Have you heard of AWS?
Um. I hate to break it to you, but something like 30% of the world runs on AWS. Amazon quite literally is a tech company.
..... What the fucking shit are you talking about
Yeah
idk what aws is
Jesus h christ
Without high-end fabs, there Nvidia wouldn't have the market cap that they do, AWS wouldn't exist, nothing would be what it is now.
then start learning, lest you embarrass yourself further.
Have you seen what Amazon even does? They aren’t just a shopping platform
attack shark and ajazz are literally made on the same production line- I read about some people mixing and matching their firmware even, vxe seems like a good choice, but it is not the first time I read good things about mchose, maybe look into those guys?
canada has a ton of studios in quebec and in bc ^^
but isnt shopify just a 3rd party seller tho
i think vancouver has more VFX related studios, but we do have a good amount of game studios
Also, Digital Extremes might only publish a small handful of games, but they regularly consult with big name game studios in many countries around the world. I'd argue that Warframe is their side project; game / software development consulting is their main product.
Yeah there are hundreds of things for which that is true. Doesn't make them "the most important".
I was aware of them
RIP the quebec VFX studios
Okay, what is more important than fabs?
all ive ever used it for is shopping
thought shopify was canada version on that
I mean you have to have chips to fab. No design. No fab. You have to have the fab chemical supplies. No supplies, no fab. Therefore 3M is the most important company in the world.
No. Shopify is an entire eCommerce platform, similar to Amazon / eBay, except instead of being a singular marketplace where you can login with one account to buy all sorts of products, they let anyone open their own custom-branded web store to sell their own goods and services.
Shopify is more or less a whitelabel online website design / development + online store platform.
There are multiple brands that all do that. But for actual hardware chips, there's really only 2, and for storage and memory, there's 2, maybe 3 companies.
I have a shop app that does something similar
No, there isn't.
hey guys, i'm having some trouble overclocking my 5950x and wondering if anyone could help me out
Ive never used shopify cuz I hate the ceo
Amazon has fingers in a ton of pies. The very Amazon Echo automatically makes them a tech company. They are very much like Disney
the company making the machines for them, they could always make another one and the economic repercussions would hardly be worse than the 2020 chip shortage. Also, people, bear in mind that we are (slowly) running out of sand to make the chips 😄
I see
Oh also.... Club Penguin. Yes, the entirety of Club Penguin, pre Disney acquisition, was Canadian.
they made club penguin crazy
there is more than I was aware of but still feels like canada is behind usa
Okay, how many are there?
expeically with ai and sutff
@frosty oriole your core argument was that Canada tech industry is behind because they don't have a high end chip fab, and apparently chip fabs are the most important thing ever.
Always will be so long as the global economy is centered around USD and the stonk market.
ggs
It is a single example.
Also, I said they're the most important thing in the tech sector, not ever. I'm sorry you struggle to read.
..... Imagine being behind a company that has more people and a larger economy. For shame.
usa moggs canada
Behind alot of eu as well
I also provided an examnple showing Canada isn't super far behind in tech.
Indeed. I'd argue both 3M and that Dutch Lithography company are way up there for literally anything electronic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASML_Holding
ASML Holding N.V. (commonly shortened to ASML, originally standing for Advanced Semiconductor Materials Lithography) is a Dutch multinational corporation founded in 1984. ASML specializes in the development and manufacturing of photolithography machines which are used to produce computer chips.
As of 2023 it is the largest supplier for the semic...
The thing is, "most important in the tech sector " and "most important ever" is basically just as stupid as each other.
like what does canada specialize in other than oil and lumber
Wood.
Maple syrup
we also produce cars, we produce a LOT of digital media
being bigger than 75% of countries and having the same population as california
That's a massive stretch, but okay.
to cold to live up there
no one wants to live in the cold
Massive....
The concept of "most important" doesn't even make sense in this context.
better than living in the 115 degree arizona heat tbh
That actually isn't a huge export thing, even though we're quite known for it.
dissagree
ok, I'm out, didn't even have a drink and got drawn into politics stuff
id rather be in 115 than freeze to death
Well, you could've decided to start with that.
would you rather be in 20 degree weather with the ability to make a fire and you have warm clothes, or a dry 115 degree heat without much water or anything to cool you down
Accidentally posted this in TC2 but it is a photo of all of the stuff Amazon owns. It’s pretty diverse #tech-chat-2 message
wdym nothing to cool you down does ac not exist
can always layer up more and more
theres only so far you can layer down before its illegal
id rathe sweat than have my feet feel frozen is all im saying
lots of AC issues over there
and some winters no mater how many layers you have your gunna be freezing ur ass off
expecially in the hands and feet
I will point out, you often fight against statements, but then rarely give the correct answers in the initial reply. It makes it hard to have a back and forth discussion when all you say is "You're wrong."
i only prefer winter because its always humid in north carolina lol, during summer its 85-90F and 75-85% humidity
feels like after u get out of a hot shower
Its humid in canada summers too at like 25c
humidity SUCKS
hwbob is actually very knowledgable but in discussions like this, a mutual consensus is already not gonna happen
feels like canada is just a supplier of raw materials and not much innovation happens here
Depends on where you're talking about. The west coast does indeed get humid sticky during summer, meanwhile the interior is more of a dry heat. It's a bit of personal preference as to which is better.
east coast
yeah cause like 80% of canada cant be lived in, and the population is too small
me when i don't have to ever leave the house and have the priveledge of affording AC
Yeah, he seems smart, I just wish he conveyed that differently. I like to talk and learn about tech, but it seems like he often just wants to argue about who's right; instead of just providing answers so people can learn.
nuh uh dry heat is so much easier to tolerate than humid heat
I would agree, but I know some people who prefer humidity.
i don't think there's a debate, humidity is so ass
anyone who disagrees hasnt been in over 50% humidity, let alone 85%
I mean alot of places in eu dont have high population
30% - 40% humidity is nice. Anything different is mid.
Yeah, I was trying to tell people that 100% humidity and extreme heat is very deadly, as you can't sweat properly.
And they were like "Nuh uh, dry heat is worse."
Yee - again, I feel the same. Anything over 24 C in 60% humidity is too much for me to do anything other than sit calmly not generating any more of my own body heat. Like, I can tolerate it, but it makes me miserable.
rate my setup
when it's humid i just feel like there's no way to disperse the heat from my body
My PC is on a black screen and has been for nearly 15 minute after doing some updates that required a reset, what should i do?
That's like a solid 8, maybe 8.5/10.
it just feels like a fricken sauna
just awful awful stuff
dry heat in comparison feels way better
leave it if you turn it off it could corrupt your os
Ok
because the reason you're wrong is you fundamentally don't understand multiple things. You're making a sweeping statement that is wrong because of core assumptions about the fundamental way in which things work. It's called a "ben shapiro"
I just wish we had more tech stuff here in canada so I didnt have to pay import taxes on everything
Again, instead of telling me how I'm wrong, tell me how to be right.
Understand the tech industry, world economy, trade, and manufacturing process?
It's not exactly a short response
I'm saying provide examples instead of just "No."
Again, like here. You could've said "There's actually X amount." And then listed them.
Your assumption is that the things you need to run a fab are common off the shelf shit.
meanwhile in the US you get all of the above in a 3 day period
You want me to do the hard yards in terms of backing up everything, when you're not prepared to do the same
That's unrelated to the statement, though. I was saying how many big name companies have fabs.
Bro, you're thinking I'm wanting to argue. This is exactly what I mean. I'm here to learn and talk about tech. You're just here to argue and be right.
... then stop stating things you are postulating as fact, and state them as questions.
this is what I tried to tell them earlier...its a loaded question and all the info you could dump on them wont lead to a mutual consensus
I would've already been doing so if you had already been providing answers, but I'm willing to change that now if we're both on the same page.
i was curious about this argument, and then i saw this person was arguing a point damocles had made.
The thing, basically any advanced manufacturing has a bunch of things it depends on. It's the nature of advanced manufacturing. Shit, Russia can't manufacture their own rail wheel bearings
global economy go brrrt
exactly
So simplifying it to "X company has no Y omg!" is ridiculous
I do know what me adding periods makes me seem like I'm trying to be exactly right about things, but that's not the case. I have OCD, so I use periods. I state my understanding of things, and am open to hear the reasons and answers otherwise, but I really dislike when the "answer" is just "You're wrong." That doesn't teach me anything.
You made a statement.
you ever played satisfactory, or factorio? or any of those types of games?
Okay, so me saying it's the most important thing was a broad statement. I would've preferred you say "That's painting it with too broad of a brush and isn't the case." or something similar.
Yes, and I know what you're going to get at.
guys my dad ordered me a new IEM cable so my right earbud will work 🙏
cool, so you shouldnt need us to explain the answer if you already know it
Just because I know how Satisfactory works doesn't mean I know how fabs are built or how they get their resources and supplies.
but anyways. to complete the end game, every part of the game is important, you cant just skip a section and say its less important, or focus all your energy on one section of the game and hope it works
And you can't draw inferences?
The specifics don't actually matter
Again, I'm here to learn and receive answers.
Like I said, any advanced manufacturing has similar things.
I want to know specifics, I like details.
If I'm wrong, I want to know the answer.
then get to researchin cause theres a lot
Except that won't help you. It's actually far better to understand the concepts and processes
Because this was a conversation about economics and industry.
I like seeing how people teach and tell me the answers so I can do it properly for others.
then go to school for it :P
Wish I could get stuff as cheap as it is in america
If you go to a car meet and ask someone about their engine, that's not the response they give you. I like it when people share knowledge, it benefits everybody.
I have some good news for you
You didn't ask anything
yeah, but we dont own the fabs
Yeah, in America.
Yes but more there, so your prices will be less when compared.
I don't want to go in circles too much today.
well most tech I buy is shipped from america
You guys are talking like you know the answers, which makes me want to know what you know.
idk if they will start storing them in diff warhouses
Yes, but it would take hours for me to explain that and it's not secret
but that how its been
And it consists of some amount of specific knowledge, and a lot of generalised knowledge about how economies and supply chains work
You can just state the important parts.
Going back to my other example, if you ask a car guy about his engine, he'll tell you the mods, or if you ask a PC guy about the PC, he'll tell you about the specs. Neither need to start telling paragraphs about how car engines or computer parts work.
Go and binge watch everything Wendover productions has made - seriously
Because they assume you know already. There's a shared base of knowledge. Your statements showed you didn't understand the core concepts enough
but if a car guy tells your about his carburetor, and you dont know what a carburator GENERALLY is, then it means nothing to you and you have wasted both his and your time
It's safe to assume some level of knowledge, and then fill in the gaps. If there's anything left out, it's often-
hi is there anyway to work the argb fan to a non argb motherboard?
Yes, we're on the same page, cool.
So, what does 3M provide to TSMC?
Yes, with an argb controller
It's still helpful to know, actually. It gives you context and more insight to what people do. And again, it shows how people explain things.
but again, if you do not have a basic understanding of a carburetor, it does no good to build on that lack of knowledge, as theres no foundation
ripped the same song from two different services
spotify (top)
apple music (bottom)
look how much more dynamic apple music is, wow
I appreciate you guys posting that, though I will post this again.
Your statement that "fab is the most important" shows that you don't understand how to rank importance or understand how supply chains work.
I didn't realize you were going that far, especially since people need to know what a carb is to ask about it. But even still, they have some info now, whereas before they had none.
I had no idea 3m made so much stuff
this is my mobo btw. my 4 argb fan is connected right now to a splitter and the splitter is connected to sys fan. fans working but no rgb is working obviously.
I thought 3m just made like safety equipment
That's 12V RGB, so it's basically garbage
Had I said valuable, would that have been more accurate?
im only saying it that specifically because that is an analogy of whats happening here, you are asking for specific information of something you do not understand even at a generalized level
Also no
I mean it is critical worldwide infrastructure, but using it as an example of any one country doesn't mean a lot.
and like house hold items like tape and stuff
theyre a very large company, but it seems they make similar things for wafer production specifically, packaging and handling materials, some cleaning products too
3M make... Stuff. So much stuff.
I know what a fab is, and I know they get supplies from somewhere. I was just echoing what I've heard elsewhere. I know the process of how chips are made, but I don't know the specifics of how they source their materials.
i mean, that would be specific to every company, hell, maybe even every individual fab, depending on local laws/regulations/politics
The key to understand is that while it's nice to know more stuff - you don't need to know the specifics. All you need to understand is that it's extremely advanced and specialised manufacturing
I appreciate that you expanded your answer, thank you.
okay most the 3m stuff makes sense, and this does too, to a point, but its very unexpected
The concept that any one country can "go it alone" is something that makes no sense in 2025.
i mean, technically maybe a country the size of china/russia/india might have enough raw resources of the correct kind AND intellect to figure out a start to finish supply chain, but it would be expensive
Also a computer/phone/whatever is actually the result of many many thousands of man years across the world.
Nope. You end up missing specific bits. And even if it's theoretically possible, not the same thing as running that industry.
oh absolutely it wouldnt give a monopoly on it, theres always going to be competition, but theyre still going to try
No, I mean it wouldn't be possible.
Because the components and knowledge are so extremely specialised that it won't happen
I am currently exploring options for high-quality home server racks, specifically closed racks, suitable for home use in the UK. Could you kindly recommend some reliable brands, models, or suppliers that offer these products?
Home use racks? You like constant whirring noise?
yeah?
Enclosed only really makes sense for lower power stuff like networking
going to have some that i have dogs that bits cables so need closed
dog training might be cheaper

Wtf
yeah ik
But also what do you mean high quality.... Where are you putting this?
And how many servers etc do you want in it
just ensloed is mostly what i need
like 4 server 2 switchs dream machine pro and pdu
\
i never realized how tiny this is. its adorable
And what, in your loungeroom?
in my room or storage place
As in your bedroom?
Are they all 4ru servers? I’d sure as hell hope so if they’re going to be in your bedroom
yeah not that loud lol
You resell colocation, just chuck them in the data centre
Unless the colocation you’re selling is in your bedroom…
i 2-3 racks in there and no not in my room
Look at that, you have three racks you can use without having to worry about noise, buying a rack, or shit getting eaten by your dogs
most are full like 14u left clients
So you have 14ru to work with
Is your bedroom upstairs?
Because that should be fine.
You can put infinite weight on upstairs floors
And it's not a problem with ingress or egress either
I think they do. They are just super niche
My dad's best friend died today and we just got the news
He was a good friend of mine to
Sorry 🙏
Corsair 4000d or lian Li vision? I know tempered glass is cooler, but how much better cooling is mesh compared to it
Pcie to m.2 with an SSD in it is exactly the same.
alright
ill look at those
thanks
M.2 is just x4 pcie in a different form factor
Ehhh, it depends on so many things. Also how much you care about them.
What things? Im prob getting a 9070 xt
Mainly how much you care about noise vs looks and how you're going to structure your airflow and what fans you will use
The reality is that almost any proper case will be fine.
Gamers nexus do very good case reviews.
I don't give two 💩about looks... I just want pure performance
Alright I will take a look tysm
The performance is unlikely to be any different.
Doesn't mesh have more airflow than tempered glass?
I mean tempered glass has no airflow through it at all
Where is the air going if it's all sealed off... I just realized
But that doesn't affect the overall performance of the computer
Hotter tho
... Not necessarily
Wouldn't it damage the parts in the long run
No
Howw
The parts are made to be hot
Voltage will affect your parts lifespan
I hear people talk about a good power supply, but what makes it good
It not being shit
Bru I'll just get the cheapest big case then 🤷♂️
Bad ones die, don't live to what they are rated for, and is overall shit
I chose the whatever core reactor ii thingy ._.
?
Let me find it
You want to get a psu where the brand overbuilt it basically
PSU tier list
Idk they all look like the same black bricks to me
Bruh, look at the ltt psu tier list
Alrr
im trying to build a budget gaming sff pc, i got my i7-7700 and im wondering whats the best low profile gpu for games like fortnite and gta5, potentinally some pcvr vrchat to.
Where is this list 💀
The forums
Bro the best on there is like $800
Dont go for a 1600w psu???
1660 or a 1650 would be more than fine
Snipe them from the used markets for even cheaper prices
mini ln2 cooler frfr
What’s budget
ive got this insane deal on the optiplex for 90$
Like how much money spent so far
so 210$ left
Would be a poor cooler unless it’s for chipset or something
That’s the joke
3050lp
Hell nah
what about the 1650 ive herd so much about
A 2060 is better in every way imaginable
THERE ARE NO 2060 LP
I didn't see the one I chose on there, but it still seems like a decent unit...
1650 mb
Good option too
Get one that's already on the list
There are very small 2060s for way cheaper than the ass of a gpu that's called a 3050
1650 is very slow for today's standard
i think il use it, it'll play 60fps on gta5 and everything else il wanna play
i dont plan on playing modern titles
Ok are they half height
Paired with 7th grn Intel isn't that bad for what he asked for
fortnite, roblox, minecraft, and gta is abt all i want
@hoary agate
I recommend a 2060 tbh
not even a bad thing to do lol gets the job done
Yeah 2060 fr
I hit 515 bclk on my z390
1650 can do that, but meh card even for low level stuff
What cpu?
Is it mid tower or sff
9900k
sff
Why sff?
They are hella cheap for the Masses
It’s cheap and he already has it
i7-7700 16gb ram for 99$ is a killer impo
So you want very limited options?
The 7700 is like 65 already LOL
idk if a shelf could support a mt
For 60 more, you can get a decent am4 system with a real case
Can shelf handle heavy big tower
exactly
Quick question, if I have a 5600X, shouyld I go with a 6600 or a b570?
Depends on the shelf
6600
B580
Well problem is that in my country the B580 is similar price to the 4060 and the 7600
B570 sucks
Safety hazard ah
ok
well depends on what shelf i end up buying but
im on a bunkbed with not much room so i dont want a massive mt, so i wanna use a sff,
It is 12% less perf for like 12% less price (MSRP and compared to b580)
It’s literally scaled down b580
But my data may be wrong considering it may be old
Its not a good gpu
What’s a better new card for the price
Like which
7600xt
https://youtu.be/Bs1O21ibuKM?si=ha3v6bjjh9-MXe-j best model no cap

The Yeston RX 9070 XT Sakura Sugar Atlantis GPU, which we've shortened to "Waifu" edition, shows the video card design world that not everything has to be a black-and-RGB rectangle. The Atlantis goes for a pink-and-blue gradient on its shroud with an anime character backplat...
yeston cooking with this one
well i can get it for 270
Hope you enjoy it but isn’t gta5 pretty expensive
tho eitherway any jump to budge new graphics card would be massive for me since im running a 550 (costed 200 dolars cos itt was during the scalper crypto boom
)
It can play on a potato so if you have a weak pc, try playing it
i think sale
Not joking, is a super easy to run game
my previous PC was a A8-7600 and Rx 550 (still using that one)
Its meh
best i could find on ebay
lemme look again then
damn look harder then
ohhh you need an sff card for that pc, I see what's going on
still

3050 lp is the best card you can get that's not 10000000 bucks
grubhub tripping
and when i check out budget has not been made
what thats means i see the probtrying to use it in the first place
3050 6gb or a2000 if ur lucky like me
yea thats the cheaped 1650 i can find
idk
Oh nice!
I feel like you'd be better off getting a bigger office pc and getting a better card
so i have a 3060 Ti and i want to upgrade to an AMD card and i was wondering what card would be a worth it upgrade and how much is the avg cost?
what is your budget
i found a 208$ 3050 lp, do i get it
im of course going to do a slight upgrade on the cpu from a 5600x to a 5700x RD
100 im ordering for a meet up
@grizzled frost
and even if i do 20 bucks still
when i add it all comes to the same little 3 bucks
rapter i wasn't talking to you, i was talking to the dude who has posted a message right above mine
and says -so and so
how much is an office pc thats not slim and is 8th gen or higher?
What's your budget
oh
170 ish
if i could i would like to keep it under 1k
9070, 9070xt, 7800XT, 7900GRE, 7900XT, 7900XTX are all big punchers
well tell me if my issue is a glitch cause my friends are hangry
get that instead imo
specially since your processor won't be supported by windows soon
but i need a gpu to..
9070 is meh
when i add and add it says 3.60
you'd be spending less on a card that's not sff
il look at optiplex mts rq ig
9070 is there really jst to upsell the XT
and I’d consider it a SFF type card
also are alienware gpus worse than other gpus?
yout current main issue is the dimensions
generally, yes
Alienware in general sucks
looks like you're getting a slim cased pc
alienware shit is all proprietary and is shit in general lol
on god
which means you'd have to get an sff card... which is typically pricey
yeah was thinking that my 3060 ti feels like it’s not performing like it should since i first got it
Vram issue
Dell cards are surprisingly good
159$ "Dell Optiplex 7060 MT i7 8th Gen 16GB RAM/No HDD"
unless its monitors, u shldnt trust alienware
its not the slim one right?
the 7060 has a propritary psu tho 😔
not this one?
what is the equivalent of a 7800xt?
Midsized tower
yes it is that
ah yes get this instead then
i dont have much room, i cant get a full case
and get a 2060 super or something
i hope the psu can support it
worse comes to worst you can set a static power limit
errr
Dont
lemme look at the psu
oh no that's a proprietary form factor psu indeed
I mean.... worse comes to worse.... just have it outside the case
uh
ideal no, works yes
they most likely dont
ive learnt that
oh thinking of it now, I would be a bit careful of getting a new psu for something with a proprietary form factor
i cant
their pinout could be funny
im not dealing with adaptors
I cant say for certain if this is the case, but I would double check if it is
is what I'm saying
most likly a 18 to 24 pin connecter is needed, but i dont think thats the case, these dell OptiPlex's have standardized mobo connecters
good to know
If it fits in it, yes
doesnt have to
2060 super exceeds my budget, what else
its gonna be on a shelf.
what's the budget?
i got 300$
Ok
159 for the optiplex
oooof
poor fr
how much are reg 2060/1660?
Eh yeah ig so lol
200ish
lemme try finding a cheaper optiplex
Awesome to see all carriers on a cell site
what country?
I wouldnt get smth under 8th gen, if u intend on using windows
usa
would u reccoment any other mt's other than optiplex's
If u where you, I would use the igpu that comes with it and wait till cash flows a lil and save up for a 2060 or a 2060 super
hmmm. i feel like you could definitely get something for way less
have you checked Facebook or craigslist?
I found one like 2 sec after sech in the USA for 174
cant go to meet up
im a minor 😔
That's with box
Ask you're parents to do that
rough
They can't do it for you?
what about friends? siblings?
bro is locked in a dungeon
ik
💀 💀 💀
Bro
can yall reccomend something other than a optiplex
thats mt size
thats not propritary like dell
for your budget? no
Look for a deal on a fbmk for a am4 system Abt 150 USD
.
That's what I did for one of my builds
HOW DO I GO AND GET IT
Tell them to meet up at ur house and pay them 8 bucks more ig
yes
Wasn't a i7 7770?
that was the sff
why do psu manufacturers not use high end fans like noctua or phanteks or bequiet which have 120k mtbf instead they use fans with 50k hrs ?
but ennui reccomends a mt
there not nice
found a rx 480 for 49 dollars
No need to
Dats ass, a 580 at minimum
580 mb*
because you'd have to spend a lot to get an sff card that isn't going to be particularly fast either
If you want to play anything remotely good
it says they cant test it so it may not work
also 7th gen is about to drop support for windows so....
if you want to using win11 you need 8th gen or higher
eww windows 11
are you planning on using Linux then?
prefering win10 to win11 is crazy
I dont recommend you use windows 10 past the end of support
you won't have security updates and having a vulnerable os is very very bad
windows 11 is fine tbh
i only deal locally so I can't say what's a "good price"
is 80$ sound good?
its completely fine if not better if you're on modern hardware imo
W10 ltcs moment
a lot better than a 1650 for 171
😭
I mean you could do that too
tbh i love how this looks https://www.ebay.com/itm/316468933125
oh there are ways to install windows 11 on unsupported hardware too
i just dont even see a reason to install windows 10 today over 11
not saying you should or shouldnt
agreed
dell oem or xfx one
it even ran beter than win 10 on my 3rd gen intel system lol
i would not get the oem one
reason?
blower
might be better in an optiplex
they look cool, but just not as good
since those tend to not have a lot of airflow
oh its for an optiplex, hmm
yes
yeah I feel like a blower is a fair choice for that scenario
im on a budget tryna nuke people in gta
guess il go with the https://www.ebay.com/itm/167395655071
that is true, def take a look at your case and evaluate the your airflow
blowers are a lot better in airflow restricted cases afaik
also since you'd have a solid side panel, can't imagine it'd be that loud
i run a blower card myself and i don't find it that bad
looking at the pics
it look like theres alot of room
plus a fan on the back pulling air out
might have to put one on the front to pull air in tho
issue is airflow
wait no the psu does that uh
might not be a terrible idea to drill holes in the side of the case lol
make an side mount fan
i want it to be pretty
genuinely yeah
hmm
err with a $300 PC you take what you can get
depends on how it's airflow limited, but generally yes
pull air in
or push out
i meant what the airflow configuration is...
solely push probably
common for office PCs
