Gaming and editing, I just want an overkill PC I never have to upgrade.
One USB port ...
a usb port is a usb port tho
You could plug in one of those things that give you more usb ports
I used to rock a Intel xeon in my PC a couple years back
just get like 4 hubs and daisy chain, ez
That's crazy
So what should I get?
What u using it for is the main question
Gaming
Ahh right so not a threadripper tbf maybe then
I had 2 Xeon x5650s in a build
I had a intel xeon e3-1240 that is found for like Β£5 these days, E-Waste at that point
isn't that like $10,000?
depends on the threadripper
If I find a dual LGA 1366 that supports DDR4 I'm building a Xeon Monster
Toxic I think think I'd be good to go through like a PC company to get your PC
Yeah I just dunno what to buy bc I've never built a pc before
it was a Xeon 1240 V5 with a MSI GTX 970 modded drivers to perform like a 1080ti for a couple years
Yeah but it's cheaper and more fun to built it myself
finally updated my pcpartpicker list for my setup
True but they can make sure its the best it can be
Go through like ztt builds X3
I'll do a ton of research before I build it, and ask here for help. I mainly just dunno what to get for parts. But yeah I can get it built for me if I need.
heres what i did
im surprised u didnt say NZXT for a second i was worried u was gonna say NZXT
spend a gew days making your own pc list
and then come back here and let other people rip apart your list and make you a better one
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/AltTab7/saved/9RjMFT chat, rate the setup. Prices are in canadian dollars
My Gaming setup - Intel Core i5-13500, Radeon RX 6800, Corsair Obsidian Series 900D ATX Full Tower
Is it ok to buy gpus off alibaba
That makes sense.
I gave this to my mum for her PC after i upgraded but what a gpu it served for me
came here with an rx 7600 and (not) left with a 7700 xt
yes and no
Hey is it possible to makemy laptop a second monitor
I'm fully aware of all their practices I would never recommend them
scammy?
Ahh fair enough
do you know how to solder?
yea but you get what you paid for
Use software called space desk
you have to be careful, sometimes listings can be scammy
yes
No, I'm assuming that the only way
why the X
using a remote pc thing
I use linux so I cant
yeah
is that not on linux
dont use a sketchy software
No. Thought it was when start using mint
It needs drivers to work
So wine can't run it
damm it isnt
Spacedesk is really good though
Thats literally a well known software tool, what
damm, why no linux support tho
"well known"*
I've never heard of it tbf
I want the best gaming PC without going overboard on things I don't need like a Threadripper 7995WX
its well known if you're someone looking to use another device as a monitor*
thats a mediocre gaming cpu
That's like $10,000 no?
How is it mediocre then
Listen with 10k ur gonna get a amazing PC for 4k gaming tbf
Oh right
Its meant for servers etc
thats being generous
worst gaming performance than even a 14900k
wait fr?π
Yh, I just don't wanna buy stuff that isn't worth it, spending the $10,000 the best I can.
their single threaded score/ single core score is probs bad on it tbf
the 7995wx is horrible for gaming
its not meant for gaming
So far my list: RTX 5090 founders
in the tasks its actually meant for tho... its really good
well ofc its not ment for gaming but, "horrible"? the performance wasnt that far off from some gaming cpus so its not that bad, thats why I said mediocre
im referring to the vids where linus tried to game on it
Isn't it for 3d rendering or something
using a cpu as a gpu
its common knowledge that a workstation cpu is not good for gaming
I mean eventually, cpus may have enough cores for that
I don't know anything about this...
That's why I am here XD
Literally impossible. All technology eventually must be upgraded. Instead of seeking to drop $10K on a computer because "$10K", think about what you need to use the computer for, then build appropriately.
right
especially with UE5 games these days bloody hell
Well yeah after like 5 years I COULD upgrade it, but it's overkill enough where it could last me forever.
@formal sonnet https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/AltTab7/saved/9RjMFT rate the setup
My Gaming setup - Intel Core i5-13500, Radeon RX 6800, Corsair Obsidian Series 900D ATX Full Tower
if UE6 ever comes out our PC's are toast for a long time π π
It's not $10K so it's bad. /s
UE5 is HORRIBLE on vega cards holly shit
Optimized for gaming, and then it will still probably be good enough for editing. But I mostly need it for gaming.
π
I just took a bath... Now the neighbors pissed because his hot tub is a different color
is that with frame gen or nah? lmao
You could probably spend $30,000 on a pc if you hate money.
raw raster
bloody hell
also frame gen on vega cards is ASS
ye true
Could you send your recommendation for a $10,000 PC build? With room to spend more money if it needs\ better cooling or something?
Also why u rocking a vega card? just to test some games on it?
with the same low settings btw
Seriously though. I mean. It's a $2K PC build. 32GB memory, 13th gen i5, mid-to-high-er end motherboard, good SSD, ... lots of small HDDs?, glorious ML fans. Tis fine.
no im just poor and so I bought a vega 57 for 79$ its roughly equivalent to a 3060 after a bit of tweaking, great value for money
If ur actually rocking a vega card i respect it
How old you is?
was... I just sold it a few days ago for 90$
I was rocking a msi 3060 12gb tbf
$2,000 cad, but the system itself is like 1500 cad
17 but im like 17.9
Profit is profit
yea the 12gb card specifically
Get a job at mcdonalds and save for like 8 months
That's what imma do
Ill work at IT, trust
#1106613567966429224 is where you would go for things like this, however, you'll want to include details about what you want from this PC, and ideally have looked at other builds to get an idea for yours. PC Part Picker is relatively good for this. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/builds/
Completed Builds
exactly now im rocking a 7800xt
I have amazing troubleshooting skills
Makes sense, thank you π
im just bought a 5700xt 8gb for 99$ π₯
Is that good?
I spent 1.2k for this PC since i wanted 1440p gaming
very, its like 20% faster than the 3060 and is essentially the same gpu in the ps5 if I recall correctly
I have a $500 pc my dad gave me since he works at a tech company, it runs fine. I'm gonna save for that $10,000 PC and spoil myself π
basically a 2070
I'll never have as much luck as I did with buying my PC I got it for 300 dollars and the CPU alone is worth 300 π
bros gonna game at 4k tbf gotta respect it
my pc is like 250$ with the vega card in it, it will still be less than 300$ with the 5700xt inside
dw my build used to be worth like Β£400 max
the gpu cost at least 10x the cpu
$10,000 is overkill ik, I could get a car, but I already have an old one. And don't care for a better one.
its amazinf value and the xeon upgrades are so cheap lmao
I was rocking a xeon that couldnt be upgraded since the socket π
apparently swapping my pc to am5 would cost 300$ more (including shipping)
Well I got like 8 months to learn about pc stuff, that's probably enough time.
isnt xeon the one processor that can be dual chipped
You know dell optiplex upgrades? will I did the same but wirh a work station grade dell precision t5810, it costed 100$ came with a 1650v4 and 32gb of ram
i came from a AMD 5700xt and i used to use the amd relive software to clip stuff. it was so much better than the nvidia instant replay that i use now with my 4080super. idk wtf is wrong but i turn it on and all my frames completely start stuttering every second... any solutions? i looked it up and no one has found any idk what to do
plenty
lmao
the cpu i used to rock is worth Β£5 on ebay these days
That's very good ngl
I got the fastest budget xeon. with a 1680v3 overclocked to 4.3ghz, its roughly in performance with a 2600x
yea and these work station pc come with a hotswap high power psu and PROPER POWER CONNECTORS
should i upgrade my nvme drives to a Nytro 4350 or keep them as 970 evo plus ( if i did change them id use the old ones for my nas )
Wait I remember talking to u the other day I'm the guy with the 2697 v4
ahh nice
I'm probably gonna dissect my $500 pc to learn how to build it.
I have the itch to install Linux but Nvidia drivers and Wayland shit
you should use OBS with a hotkey fr
both of those are false tbh
never thought of that
the only real issue with nvidia drivers is the open source one is mid, and wayland is pretty solid now
is it possible to download the radeon software and clip with that? i have a 4080s and 9800x3d
thats not even the best solution
what is then
The copium I am seeing about the 50 series cards feels like the Cybertruck. just a lot of people really trying to feel better about their purchase
there are tons of recording software for you exact use case, search it up lol
i dont want shitty ones like medal tho
the 5070ti performing 1% better than a 7900xtx in 4k π π
i wish that the instant replay wasnt so fking dogshit
Wait I was actually gonna suggest that
Who can target PUBG? I'm already scared by cheats
whats wrong with medal?
Nope Wayland shits itself
so bad for ur pc remember from like 2020
everyone said it was dogahh
use obs
alr is OBS prolly then best bet
also the greatest solution is OBS replay buffer, idk how that works but everyone says its the best from a few google searches
yh
the userbenchmark so far rate the 5070ti like 11% better... idk if that is worth anyones money lol
Ive seen some other things about it
just be better π€·ββοΈ been using wayland for years lol
I applied for arby's through my city arby's website and got to another verification and it said to select my abry's city and it was the only one in the state not on there for some reason.
@junior kiln idk to trust it but ye
Fym be better the problem Is the os not me
Imma get a platform upgrade to am4 or am5 for my birthday in march, imma go to microcentre
I dont know about the 5070ti specifically, but I wouldnt touch the 50 series with a 10 foot pole after the kind of technical issues people are reporting. e.g. strange firmware issues (like Jayztwocents reported) or it being literal cable meltdown
Also the 50 series not having 32 bit PhysX is absolute bs
this too
like Borderlands 2 what if people wanted to play that?
Lol remember when amd was the one with driver issues? now its nvidia
bloody 20fps max on 4k if they try to actually have the physics do it thing
Yeah there is a lot of modern games that are going to be unplayable for those who have a 50 series. Like, in what world is that an upgrade
thats just early adopter issues
I guess there comes a time you actually need that second PCIE slot on your mobo π
π just do better, what issues are you having with waylnad
I dont know man, I mean you could say that but that is a VERY big early adopter issue, it still doesnt address the physical problems these cards are having
honestly I was very annoyed looking for am4 mobos online bc they only had one extra slot lmao (my dell precision t5810 has 4 PCIE slots)
genuinely, who is using or what purpose do those extra slots serve?
wifi cards, drives, etc
I say this bc I know there are industry applications im just not aware of
Wifi cards??? in 2025?
yes
Most mobos already have wifi in them
a lot of cheap am4 boards dont come with it, often low cards
especially if ur rocking a 50 series card ur gonna have a mobo with built in Wifi for sure
oh hou see im too poor for that
I was gonna say, my speeds when im not on hardwire were still sufficient for me
My mobo essentially give or take just under $100.. I still have wifi
im running wifi from my mobo rn and its still like 500mbps iirc
granted I got discounts and a rebate but still
also I have a cheap gpu for redundant usage bc I remote to my pc at school, so if my main card fails It will switch gpus and I can trouble shoot from there
im currently usinf a nvs310 bc im "gpuless" unless my 5700xt comes in the mail
Still fringe use case for those extra PCIE slots. IS there any real world application for the end consumer or in an industrial application>
probably
Me personally, I want atleast 3 slots
2 large pcie (lack of term) and 1 by 4 slot
If I gave you $1000 right now, what would you spend it on? (PC parts only)
Monitors or ram bc thats what I need. probably ram though
Ill just search for good pcpp lists in thay price range bc im lazy
or monitors and ram
More SSDs?
mmm a 2tb ssd mayhaps
I currently need a pcie to m.2 card bc my mobo has zero m.2 kr nvme
2tb ssd, and get my ram count to 128gb with $1k pc parts only money
im using sata rn
I already have both my pcie slots filled so im good on that end, they are plenty speedy, I just need a place for the insane amount of data photos take and vidjya games
i mean u gotta get that one has 16 nvme slots iirc
RAW photo backups*
That has to be some kind of server application because who the hell needs that many
fun
not even servers have that many
most of them use the other type of storage
the big one that isnt sata
and have only a couple for boot drive
For consumer gamer market, I am seeing the AsSRock Z790 Nova has six NVME
im too poor for that many ssds lmfao
More realistic
for consumer gamer market even $110 mobos alr have 3 nvme which is more than most ppl need
right.. my poor ass is only gonna use one for like a year before I deside to buy another
im still trying to figure out why a mobo needs more than a couple of pcie slots. I would wager that the vast majority, even as far as to say almost every user of a mobo does not ever touch or need, or use an extra slot. which is just e-waste manufacturing since that plastic, copper, and whatever other materials in there could have probably been put to better use
for users like me lol
Like you mentioned wifi cards but most mobos have decent wifi in them already, so that seems like an age issue. I had one in like 2008 and that was the last time I thought about them. Then theres fringe use cases like switching gpus but most users wont even touch a settings menu let alone need a second card for different applications which leaves what reasons since SLI will never be real again
ofc majority wont need more than 2
decent---
I want fast, not decent

Im not close enough for ethernat sadly
If you are that dedicated and willing to invest resources into WIFI, you have enough dedication and willpower to run an ethernet cable to your PC
right...
let me look at the speed of the wifi on my mobo since i think a $100 mobo is a good baseline
well I would still want an extra slot incase I decide to use another pcie device
also I have very slow gpu for redundancy since I remote to pc for usage at school
What devices, thats what I mean. Like what is the purpose other than extremely fringe use cases where there are not already better solutions
Capture cards
Okay, theres a real answer. capture cards. still most wont ever need a third or fourth slot ever
if im playing a heavy graphic game I want zero performance overhead when recording
I know most, but we're talking about the nich users
like me!
im playing ets2 with 3060ti

should i upgrade it
may extrea usb C or thunderbolt cards
i/o cards
capture cards are for consoles
this leads me to the conclusion that most pcie slots are wasted copper and plastic tbh
you happy with its current performance?
it costs almost nothing to add those
LOL
iirc
its not too bad except sometimes it will lag
prob caused by faulty vram
bro you need to get a 5070ti to run Euro truck sim, do it
how to fix that
I want zero performance overhead
are you using a console
Yes upgrade lol
no

is faulty vram fixable
It isnt about cost, its about sustainability lol
im talking about PC, if my gpu is being maxed out on games, then want another device to record bc then I wont have performance overhead
then you do not need a capture xard
I mean its a very tiny issue, dont get me wrong, im just saying. its mostly wasted
cant just say that lol
ehh it doesnt hurt to have extra slots
capture cards are for connecting consoles to pcs
not for recording
You are over here talking about being too poor to buy $110 mobo but are willing to drop $100 on a pcie capture card
well I mean a dedicated device to record stuff on my pc with zero performance overhead
umm yes
it will just take more saving
the priorities here are crazy π
gotta respect it tho
yea i cant find any dedicated things abt recording in your pc
my 3060ti flickers even i only opened chrome
how to fix it
unless you're telling me recording on pc has zero overhead now

did you securely fit cables
what the
What capture card are you using..
elgato im guessing
checked the cable
a 5700xt is what I would be using bc im poor I dont have a capture card yet
im
I want the slot to be available once im ready tho
idk what happened
you get it?
Which card do you have specifically? I am assuming you have already looked well into manufacturer specific driver issues, but worth throwing in the air for ya
its like some parts of the sceen turned black for a few seconds
try slightly wiggling display connectors and see if the issue shows up again
same for the gpu itself, just slightly
sometimes just picking up the cable might cause something
It is an incredibly strange priority to me tbh. Like too poor to spend on a better mobo, wifi cards apparently, and capture cards but those are entirely for dual system runs. but you said you have an extra gpu for screen recording specifically, which could just be an old card but its still a $200 card new.
oo a blower card
I mean I respect it, I just think its misplaced lol
probably
patience is also a determing factor
tried that
it happened a few months ago
i cleaned the whole pc last week
replugged everything
oh
So I just discovered Radeon Super Resolution. Now my RX 6600 runs all the games I play. Forzia Horizon 5, Cyber Punk, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo 4, Call of duty blackops 6, Doom Eternal. At 100+FPS. If one does not give a crap about ray tracing (To me it just makes floor reflections more vibrant) Im wondering now if I should skip upgrading my GPU
in some games RTX doesnt make much of a difference
like in most hyper realistic games I see no difference
IF you are happy with what you have dont set your sites on everything. just save and wait another generation out imo. rumors are rumors but rumor says inventory, supposedly, in a vacuum, could possibly fill up and in that case, the 30 and 40 series cards would come down in price in second hand markets. in theory.
but overall probably just wait it out and wait for some better rtx cards to actually come down in pricing
i wanted to upgrade to the 7800xt but it wont stay in stock on amazon for 30 seconds. And the ones that remain in stock are obvious scalpers
broπ
I mean i got mine for Β£500 days before the 50 series started selling
so i was lucky af
bruh im scared 9070xt will be sold at a heavily inflated price on the market
I think this generation of cards being such a small uplift, my theory is that it would force developers to mature their processes and make ray tracing more efficient in their games since there isnt a cutting edge to chase after tbh. but thats just my assumption
wont be a 470$ card for long
predicition** better word for that
RTX is supposed to be better for lighting, and better performance but we arnt there yet
only one game is requiring rtx rn
RTX will work on my rx6600 but it will bring it to its knees
I do like how it looks when it is implemented in a good way but rtx is mostly gimicky. ofc i still run it bc i have the damn card, im gonna use the whole card
right lmao
Upscaling methods are all very artifact-y and I notice all of it. like plooth lol
does humidity affects gpu?
this good for 1400$
no, it shouldnt
uhh not in a failing vram sort of way, I dont think. are you in a humid region like south asia?

good
actually a gpu is too warm for that lmao

u r correct
Okay to be absolutely fair, humidity in South Asia can hit insane dew points but almost certainly still not the answer for their problems lol
Can you get usb cable testers? i have a bunch and it would be nice to know the charge and data speeds on the.
90% is common
Oh mb π
throws π
the humidity is 77% rn
50 series is for chumps
ayy we still got a 30% improvement over last year
cmon did someone get it cmoonnn
better than some 15%
ig im gonna buy a new 3060ti/4060ti
i dont know why they started making GPU's use the 12v high power cable. Just make them with 2 8 pin and call it a day
if your card survives, wait til the next amd cards hit the market, I bet they will get so much cheaper
i have a 4080 super and there is no way i am getting a 5080
Save space? I can see why they would use on the founders but on other much larger cards it doesnt make sene
also for some reason there is un even power distribution among the pins for some stupid reason
sure
i think it can survive for another year
just a few glitches should be fine

did you check your overclocks
what have you done so far to try to fix it btw?
make sure memory oc and core oc are stable
Im with linus. lets just start using t60 or t90s lol
replugged it
unstable memory oc would be the more likely cause
good old turn it off and back on againel
noted
will check it soon

yea unstable memory oc can have random artifacts
Have you looked up any guides on refreshing your drivers for your specific model?
and long shot, but to add to the OC thing, make sure you didnt toggle any unintentional settings in your BIOS too
right
downloaded a new driver from nvidia
and the glitches reduced
prob 1 time per week
try reducing memory clock and see what happens
If I do snag a 7800xt will my i5 14600kf be a good pair with it?
thanks
will try it later
at what 1440p
yea thats fine
ahh I see. I am NOT qualified to give advice on this but I do know sometimes older graphics drivers can have conflicts with current graphics drivers. There are methods to do complete clean installs of graphics drivers but I have personally never done them and I dont really know if that would be a solution, but it IS worth questioning
its actually one of the things going around for one of the models of 50 series cards atm. jayztwocents has a video talking about graphic driver conflicts
ahh right try running DDU and THEN re install drivers
ah sounds cool
gonna try that tonight
How to fix GPU Graphic errors. This will clean your drivers, memory, and registry out.
Allowing the installation of a fresh new copy of the drivers. This solves maybe 80% of Graphic errors.

how do i find out what is controlling the rgb on my mouse, i updated to windows 11, got a new pc (but used the same boot drive) and a new monitor
Hey look, to be honest, those dodges were impressive still. but yeah, it would have been a great note to end his presidency after catching a shoe lol
I think the solution for RGB in nearly every scenario is Signal
nvidia app or adrenaline dont control rgb do they
Corrupt system startup. you probably gotta load the windows installer onto a USB and do a repair install
i dont want to have an rgb control app i just want it off
I plugged it in where do I go now?
It looks like Andrenaline does have some rgb control but I havent used AMD's service for it before so I couldnt give guidance myself. I would still end up using Signal to turn it off if I was in that situation and just make sure Signal isnt turned on at startup
if anyone can give better direction, please do
Does anyone know what this is? Maybe I didnβt look hard enough but I didnβt find anything
Iβve had it connected to that thing on the main cable which is the 4 pin
Idk if itβs supposed to be connected to it, or why
rgb fan?
search up the error code, look for and try the troubleshooting steps for it
ohh wait, is this the only connector the fan has?
besides the RGB connector
Yea just the 2 you can see in the pic
If i understand right, the fourth pin on a fan connenector is the one that provides sensor feedback. a 3 pin is just power, signal, ground
so if thats what you have, then you can just plug that in
I see, I also bought an almost identical fan to put on the other side but that one just has the main 4 pin connector which made me curious
Identical except the connectors
Who has written about the development perspective and self sighting of PUBG
Yeah I personally do not know why it would have both a 4 pin and a 3 pin connector if that is what you are saying. if you have the 4pin, just plug in the 4 pin and ignore the 3 pin
xt60, xt90
I LOVE ADO bro
Why you leaking RDNA5 names
absolute unit of a connector
Can you get usb cable testers? i have a bunch and it would be nice to know the charge and data speeds they are.
The Total Phase Advanced Cable Tester v2 is the quickest and most convenient way to comprehensively test USB, HDMI, and DisplayPort cables. Learn more!
LOL, thanks. I'll get two.
SAS is so confusing to me
There's cheaper ones, but many testers just check continuity of wires, not their throughput or signal integrity... https://www.amazon.ca/Treedix-Cable-Checker-Charging-Type-C/dp/B0C6PSGFZP?th=1
Any suggestions for a card I can use to connect all 8 of my sata drives together with this one cable?
I'm unfamiliar with cables that let you connect 8x SAS drives - most SAS cards I've seen use 2x ports that allow 4x drives each. https://www.amazon.ca/9201-8i-Controller-9211-8i-Expander-SFF-8087/dp/B0BVTJPZSG
That cable is for connecting 8 SATA drives
Itβs for this abomination
It has 8 SATA ports on the back
when does the next mcabook pro release?
I'm unfamiliar with this product, but the user manual should explain how to connect things. Their website is very broken for me though, so I can't even locate the user manual. π¦
the 5070ti is 150β¬ over msrp in my country, dayum
Pretty sure itβs just moving the connector back
Like regular old Sata with nothing fancy going on
I could be wrong but I donβt think I am
Get an AMD card π
Please stick it to Jensen
I know some1 who bought the eagle OC for $1379
SGD*
pretty much MSRP here
i cant
Can you provide any of the numbers off this cable? Trying to identify exactly what kind of cable this is...
Slim SAS
The Amazon link even with the ref= stuff cut off is still super long
Theyβre all the same
Ok found one with a normal link
https://www.amazon.com/chenyang-SlimSAS-Target-SFF-8654-Controller/dp/B0DQGPS6M9/ref=
Yeah itβs just SlimSAS 8i to 8 SATA
Yeah I was right
Thank you @frail delta - I've never seen SlimSAS before! So yeah, you'll need a PCIe card capable of using the chonky SFF-8654 8i SAS/SATA connector.
The slimsas cards Iβve found require bifurcation which isnβt an option
Itβs not too often Iβm right π€£
Use a different HBA and different cables then
Correct. SAS is getting into server-level type stuff.
Also why are there so many flavors of SAS
Or just get a regular PCIe SATA expansion card
One cable is cool
Since I assume youβre not going to be doing hardware RAID
Put multiple cables in a sleeve, or pay the price
Iβm just gonna run truenas so itβs fine
Hardware RAID is not acceptable
Good <> Cheap <> Fast
Pick 2. (Does not apply to all situations, but it kinda sorta fits here.)
Good
Cheap
reminds me of the car triangle
Donβt even get me started on these
What kind of jank ass GPU riser cable is this?
@mellow shadow
You can't - the connector won't fit.
It wouldnβt fit
Yes but those are likely proper RAID cards and youβve said theyβre too expensive
That's exactly what SAS is... you can not like this or the price, but that doesn't change how it works.
guys my ps4 stop displaying stuff do u got anything u think can fix it?
Until proven otherwise SAS is the 2nd stinkiest modern standard
did you try putting in/pullong out the HDMI cable a few times?
i switched the cables after
try diff monitor?
i only got one
maybe try moving the cable a lil, my port once had the same issue
ok i found a old cable and it works now

Why don't I see hardware accelerated gpu scheduling when I go in the graphic settings in windows 10 ??????
Iβve given up on SAS that shit ainβt for me at all
https://www.amazon.com/Expansion-16-Port-Controller-Adapter-8-Port/dp/B0CDL27C25/ref=
Now that the SATA issue has been taken care of I need to adjust my build
is this a 12 volt high power cable 2.0?
what kind of twisted cable is this
eight 8 pin to 24vhpwr?
What in particular has been bad for you in your experience? I am right in the assumption when you say SAS, you mean like a NAND drive, right?
Is anyone here familiar with server maintenance?
There's six drives that keep failing and going out of raid
And I can't figure out why? I think it could be the fan-out cable arrangement
Like I'm pretty sure whoever set it up is using a sata breakout cable which isn't how the controller is meant to be used (I think)
hai
hello 0:
hi
Please tell me the Ikea bear knows
Iβm trying to connect a bunch of SATA drives together and I stumbled upon that slimsas 8i to 8 sata cable thing and I thought damn one cable that would be cool then I lost my mind because SAS makes no sense
So Iβm gonna do like I shouldβve done to begin with
the cable youβre holding is a DC 3 pin fan control/header without pulse width modulation
its normal that windows defender blocks signalrgb right
Just get a data breakout card
Ah I see. I understand now
But yeah why are there so many flavors of SAS
@peak knot If you dont mind I tag you, I recommended Signal for their RGB problem earlier
oh huh it was windows doing it??
apparently windows 11 has inbuilt rgb control now
when youβre daisychaining fans you basicly only need one pwm fan if all other are matching, theyβll be all controlled based on that fan
the rest can be DC
Big if true tbh
You have slimsas minisas minisas HD (whatever that is π)
Just make like 1-2 cables and call it a day
This shit makes USB C look good
I see, so why does the 3 pin exist any way?
itβs slightly cheaper to make dc controlled fans than pwm
also, when youβre daisychaining fans you prob donβt want to chain multiple pwm fans into one header
It's not true, it's a placebo.
The exploit has been known for awhile, people just keep rediscovering it
The most I can say is that the Defender likes to throw false positives. If you got Signal from SIgnalRGB.com, it is a safe software and there is even devs from the company in ths chat. If he is not busy, Im sure he will respond when he gets a chance. I am 99% sure its a false positive and you just have to add the exception to the Windows Defender
im just surprised there wasnt any notice on signals website
smth like 'hey due to the way this interacts with your system your anti virus may believe its a virus'
It's because the Windows Defender can be really random on what it marks at times. I have had Chrome come up as a false positive even. It doesnt seem to be a common problem at all so I dont know if the company would even know. you for sure got it from SignalRGB.com and not like some website pretending to be signal, right?
Not wide spread enough for them to address it. Windows Defender does this with tons of software and seemingly at random
On my windows 11 machine signal never flagged, although I eventually uninstalled it
So it could be a new thing
false positives ive gotten is usually because of the kinds of access a program has
Its unfortunate because it is counterproductive because it has been happening more frequently (to me, that is). I can imagine it is alarming to less technically savvy users and would eventually lead to users just making the assumption everything is a false positive, which is not what Microsoft would want...but yeah.
like accessing at the hardware level
Sure but what may trigger a FP for you wouldn't for me
^ Ive had chrome trigger a fp once
I'm sure they're more than willing to address it but you have to think of it from a company's perspective. Moreover pretty much all software would have to include this tag because windows defender loves to fuck around
But I won't critique too much, WD is a great antivirus
Especially for a free one
I agree, WD has come a long way for sure and it isnt as intensive as standalone AV like BitDefender which are great options when employed in the right scenarios
You guys are also talking about Windows Security, not Defender. Defender is a seperate, paid product :p
i have the firewall off so idk why its still blocking stuff
Ah, touche
i turned everything off like memory integrity cuz i dont play any games where anticheat requires it
Nothing Microsoft can ever be simple.
Tbf, if you google Windows Defender, it comes up at the top line "WIndows Defender is a free antivirus program and securit-"
i turned everything off and it still sometimes fucks up my stuff, like just randomly quarantining an exe without even giving me a notification
Itβs been renamed like 4 times in the past decade
It's been renamed so often that I don't care
I am sorry you are having this issue with Signal since I was the one who recommended it to use. I have never heard of a user actually having that problem with it before
Originally defender was a free antivirus and then they changed the name so I'm going to call it defender for legacy reasons
Sounds like something is wrong with your system
it wasnt quarantined it was when i installed it
How do you FIND the paid version, because I never even knew there was a paid version let alone able to find it
Sounds like less of an antivirus problem and more of a system issue. Are you sure you don't have malware that's spreading to other files?
ive had no unusual indications in anything
Then you just go and remove it from quarantine, provided you know for sure that it is safe
I'm sure they know that.... They're probably just pointing out that it's annoying
ill run malwarebytes just to be safe
Itβs annoying for a very good reason
That is why I asked. You for sure got it from SignalRGB.com and not like.. idk RGBSignal or some website trying to pose as SignalRGB
That's literally not the point.
i would send the exe here but i dont think mods would be happy
i can dm if u want
If you got it from signals official site it's safe.
Send the link you downloaded it from
Ya there you go, it's fine.
Signal? I tried it too and wasn't impressed
Works for some people
and you have to pay for themes and shit
this is my second pc build and i deliberately went for no rgb
So why do you want signal?
only problem is my case doesnt have an illuminated power button so its hard to tell when its on or off lol especially with 0rpm fans
Ah I see
I just keep everything connected to 1 rgb header and set it to a solid color
to turn off the rgb on my mouse
i found out it was actually windows that was controlling it
That's the official site, if you got it from here you're safe
windows having control of rgb is news to me tbh. I didnt know they had a controller for it in 11
oh god a scan is gonna take forever
some of the games i have are like 20,000 files for some reason
jee pee you
titan
ok ran a scan 5 detection (3 of them autoit scripts, one is cheat engine, one android root tool)
ya i prefer nvidia
yeah sorry 4080 super obliterates 7900xtx at 4k
with dlss and ray tracing on?
errr not with ray tracing but with fsr xtx is faster still
so its only faster with ray tracing off
ray tracing kinda useless tho
why would i buy a card that can run anything at 4k ultra and not use ultra settings
@supple gull anyways, srry had to something it doesnβt matter if you do 1 pwm fan + 3 dc fans with a basic hub or 4 pwm fans as itβs all coming from one header which will not control fans individually, if you want to do that you need a hub thatβs usb driven or such.
So?
it runs alan wake 2 at 4k ultra ray + path tracing high at 60 fps
And I'm pretty sure that's ray tracing
maybe medium
Ray tracing is useless outside of games that build around it
atleast, high textures, medium shading, medium rt
yea medium probably
idk what kinda 4080 yall have mine runs alan wake 2 at 60 fps ultra settings ray + path tracing high
Unless you're an idiot
4080 and 5080 still suck cus 16GB of VRAM
Cool story bro
it depends on the game y
i got my XTX for $696.96
Just some guy who's trying to justify his card. Don't engage
Happens every time someone says anything about AMD
fr
Unless it's their CPUs
I just prefer nvidia but it's a mistake to brush off AMD
yeah if they were that cheap here i would have bought one lol
omfg
7900xtx was barely cheaper than 4080 super here (i saw was because both are out of stock everywhere now)
That's fair, Nvidia GPUs are good. I use AMD for personal reasons. Made the switch after I had a 3060
XTX is a super powerful card and relevant even now with 5080
steal for $696.96
Argentinian dude typed "Advanced to castle age", enemy thinks its a notification, surrenders. LMAO

i bought my 6900xt for $420
Right fucking on kvetinky!!!
7900xtx was more like 950 - 1000 usd here
mine was used
same
i only buy used gpus
Do you mind testing ark survival ascended to see how you do with fps?
except 5090
i bought my 3090 for 500
its like the b580 here youd be stupid to buy because its so overpriced
same
I still remember the guy who defended his 10900K to the grave, not accepting when people say it's beaten by a 12600K
which model
Here in argentina you could grab 3090's for no-interest monthly payments, PLUS my currency having an extreme inflation.
So I managed to grab two 3090's, gaming x trio for $350, and ventus x3 for $300.
isnt the import tax in argentina absurd
People are just selling them for pennies over here, still.
I bought 3 3090s for $1500, 1x asus tuf, 1x evga ftw3 and 1x evga xc3
Helluva, 50% tax.
But we have the 'biggest' hardware store which we think it's just a cover for a money laundry business that brings the hardware at a "reasonable" price. (" " reasonable " ")
good, good, ok the xc3 is not the best but does the job
still very good price
yeah i liked the tuf and xc3 bc dual slots
Now is $200 for a 3070?
i could stuff 2 into 1 pc
does it really matter
its all the same die
just a different cooler
I donβt need one but I could but it just because itβs a good deal and find a way to use it
Wanna have a laugh about something? I can't get this gaming x trio to have reasonable temps, and the ventus just has helluva better temps.
you're underestimating how shit the xc3 cooler is
constant thermal throttling
if you donβt care about noise and higher temps ig not
Okay, let me correct myself, the bios profile on the gaming x trio seems to be the silent one. So fans spin slow, once I open afterburner it improves. The ventus one has a better bios, so fans spin properly.
how bad is it on your card
yeah the xc3 needs atleast a repad + repaste iβve heard
did u repaste it?
its pretty bad even after repaste
yea with nt-h2
huh
does the 3090 just run hot or smth
the cooler is small
no its just a shit cooler
itβs a 2 slot iirc
yep
my 4080 is 2.5 slots and does very well thermally
so just sounds like a shit design
i have the fe and itβs a literal brick in hands
the 3090 has a higher tdp and is 2 slots
i guess but like even during gaming my gpu is at like 70c
4090/4080 even brickier
honestly after 3090s idk if i can daily a gpu with less than 24gb of vram
anything less than 24 feels cheap
7900xtx spoiled me
i wonder if theyre gonna come out with a 5080 ti with 3gb vram modules
warzone uses all 24gb of my vram and it runs so smooth with high 1% lows
and vrchat uses almost 20gb vram in some lobbies too
thatβs going to be hell for the xc3
isnt warzone cpu limited generally?
i have a 9800x3d
Yeah with the stacked vram thing
yeah but thats vr chat
in a game that the devs didnt bother to optimise in vr maybe
no its just people dont optimize their avatars
ive seen avatars that are like 1gb on their own
yeah ig
should have put a polygon limit or smth
1gb 3d model is some yandere dev level unoptimised
thinking about the 5k toothbrush
why are ppl so down bad for an nvidia gpu?
for most stuff its better
next
how does one achieve this
im talking about gamers primarily
software suite
for most stuff its better
next
dlss and stuff
Idk, ask VRChat modelers
yee ig
nvidia cards also have much better software support in games
someone wants to sell me a 5090 + 4k 240hz oled monitor as a bundle for $4000
ive got a 4k 240hz oled
i made an entire house thats not even an gb with triple layered Textures just for the outsideπ
im thinking ill do this deal
just a 5090 is going for like 6k rn
i might do this deal lol
i like how my monitor is cheaper here than in america
flip the 5090 while its still bot
feels like a tiny bit of revenge for pc parts being way more expensive
im sure america sure felt the wrath of your revenge
Is 3090 is still good?
Im picking 3090 vs 4080super
4080s miles ahead in general
And power consumption
Transient spikes
You can tame the 3090 to have 300-330w power consumption
WITH 600w SPIKES
transient, not normal power usage
no sure, I thought it was a separate message, not both of them together π
Some 2018 and before focus gold models had problems with that kekw
Just buy a 5090 and use NVidia's new Watt gen technology
320 real Watts, hallucinates 500-600 extra Watts for you
And if you buy their NV-LSDβ’ you won't even notice the fire coming from the power connectors!
5090 transients are actually smal compared to its sustained
its just that it starts so high in the first place
Hey guys thanks for the inputtt
I just need to know for my alternative PC, it has 12700k and just wanna put another GPU with it.. what would u guys suggest?
Since I'm doing my upgrades tomorrow after work I updated my PC Part Picker List
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LMqtLc
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, GeForce RTX 2080, NZXT H7 Flow (2022) ATX Mid Tower
Just for average daily use, but can do gaming in decent 1440p res
7800xt
highly depends on prices where ur from anyway
but for 1440p try to get higher than 60 tiers
Oki thank youu π
Just to say your psu is e tier
I dont think i should use the apple pro-res hdr mode on my phone π
Dude, I could find a 4080 super for Β£1200 but I cannot find an rtx 3090 for less than Β£1500
I've found an Instock white 5080 that somehow costs less than most 3090s I've found
does it heat up when you use it
damn ig they really did improve the thermals
not even my iphone 12 got really hot while recording
only time my 12 heated up was while benchmarking
nah im talking when using 4k
same here
i pretty much record exclusively in 4k on my phones
oh damn ig maybe its just teh weather here making it worse
no
it does get to 40-45 degrees
im saying no to the weather making it overheat
it does a bit
but not majorly
I thought an external SSD was required for that
I think the temperatures you mentioned are pretty normal for a CPU like that. I mean they seem a little high based on the little context I have about your system but it isn't obscene
I wouldnt be alarmed
the temperatures i mentioned are the temperatures where i live not the cpu π
Sorry I totally mistook you for a guy in another chat who was talking about a i7 13700k
I clicked tc2 and i guess switched to tc1 and saw the 40-45 and was like huh? thats not bad
haha lol its alr
do people actually use tech chat 2
Yeah, during the more busy hours in NA, it can get a little busy with the conversations taking place so people bounce around
Night time in NA, its usually one remains dead
PC just hard crashed wtf
how do I find out what caused it
I know event viewer but idk what filters to use
Are you sure your WIndows Security wasn't sending alarm bells for a reason?
Not that is helpful, just that consider it could be an indicator
what is a good socket that does not cost a lot of money and has a decent upgrade path?
I am running lga 1200 rn but that is kinda dead... I want a new cpu cuz like 13 10100 is too bad for my 3060.
nope seems it was intel rapid storage technology
idk how tf i dont even have an intel system
heres the logs
AM5
alr
is it worth going for AMD graphics card over nvidia to save on cost but sacrifice ray tracing
is ray tracing important
but dont some games like inida jones have mandatory ray tracing
whats the budget
like 1 game that isnβt out yet
amd cards are most competitive at the mid end
like 700 dollars for gpu
so I currently have an HDR400 VA monitor, but it sucks... I get my oled monitor tomorrow and it has HDR400, does OLED make HDR actually good since each pixel essentially has dimming?
ok yeah definitely amd, something like the 6800 or 7800xt is what you wanna go for
7900 xt is $720 atm
9070 xt will likely be $700 or less, but it will likely get scalped
Guys us this legit?
I just found this on AliExpress:
οΏ‘143.25 | AMD Ryzen 5 R5 5600 3.5GHz 6-Core 12-Thread CPU Processor 65W L3=32M 100-000000927 LGA AM4
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EQcwz4y
Β£70
that price abit high tbh
Looks good
the best mod of all time
Perfection
Β£70
ikr
now make it linus version
Happy gpu happy life
hope that thing has warranty
Theres no channel for servers so ill ask here. Is Epyc 7402p a good deal for a server. Im working a Server mainly for my nas but also plan to run some docker containers, minecraft servers, and other servers off of that.
Am i overthinking it should i go ryzen 7 or something consumer.
My reasoning behind epyc 7402p is price, pcie lanes, ram max capacity and good clock speed and core amount to divy out respectively to each service im running.
Im also unsure if i use use TrueNAS as my hypervisor and run docker off there of Proxmox and passthrough my HBA and 10GBe NIC into Truenas.
Anything helps feel free to DM π
epyc 7402p would suck for MC, and the rest depends on how important multi core is
consumer is WAY better for MC and many other light work loads
some not great parts in that list
ok
Well it was bought 4y and 10 mo ago but I have a 5y right of complaint where I live but last time I did that with an Asus product they accused me of water damaging it when I cleaned it with electronics cleaner spray thingy
rip that sucks
I can still try tho :D
My server are lightly used mostly me and 1 other person, i have running a shitty dell r420 rn with some shitty xeon at 2.4ghz boost and it works
also slow ddr3
as you're in the uk, i wouldn't get it from there
ye it works, but a 7700x will run a modded MC server better than a 7402p
not modded just vanilla
ah, if it's just vanilla, then just running it on papermc is enough on a lot of hardware configs
I just don't see the draw to getting a 7402p, especially with the expensive motherboards
expensive motherboards, high wattage, slower per core, etc.
yeah thats what i rn and its fine with 4 people 20tps no issues like last time...
it makes sense if you could use all 24 cores, but the difference between a 7700x and a 7402p is ~22% if you could use all 24 cores...
So in most cases, the 7700x should be faster for what you're trying to do
not to mention the 7900x exists
wattage isnt really a factor bc im getting more performance bc its and upgrade from dual 4 core xeons that pull like 100W each
in which case, the 7900x is faster
My dad has 5 servers with dual epyc 9965's and 2 servers with dual 9575F's
:D
Your dad is radical
7900x is 18% faster + cheaper than a 7402p. I just don't think the 7402p makes sense unless you need the PCIE lanes
7900x is MUCH faster(2.5x) at single threaded workloads, and still faster at multithreaded workloads
Hey everyone,
Does anyone know the naming schemes used by any of the major monitor brands? Specifically, how their model numbers and letters are structured and what they mean.
Iβve been trying to learn them, but so far, Iβve only been able to figure out Dellβs system
The 5 big boi servers he has have 14x 4090's in each he wanted to get 5090's for them but melty melty 16p
Random numbers and letters = maybe good monitor
Your dad is rich π
You can't learn that it doesn't make sense
I want the pcie mainly for the nas. Ive done the math for the last month and if i get a nvme cache drive i need a sata boot which is planned anyways and also, and with am4 i think 20 or 24 usable lanes which get take by hba 10gbe nic and nvme drive so i could do like a gpu for plex if i wanted
Nah the state pays for it he works at a uni and he wanted SO SO much money on internet cards... The 2 9575F servers have 1tb/s connectionsπ
Just go off statistics and word of mouth, you'll be Gucci π«Ά
damn.
There are just so many different to choose from. Itβs hard lol
Good night people. Don't use the toilet you see in your dreams or you will have problems in the morning
He also let me play Valorant and CS on the 4090 servers kinda sucked ass
why do they release their GPUs in descending order
like
why didn't they start with the 5060 or something and go up
Because 5090 is a way higher margin product
They stopped manufacturing the 40 series
What are they gonna do?
Buy the 4060? Nah
Buy the 5080
they're pricey, but some AM5 boards have 10gb ethernet. Like $460. you'd need to do the math to see if it's worth it
If you go down to 5Gb/s, it's $190
I don't have any context but 10g cards are like $65
ye, but the epyc motherboard + epyc cpu adds cost
Fuck that let's do quad bulldozer :D
so you'd need to consider
7700x or 7900x + $460 board vs epyc cpu + epyc board + 10g card
lol I used to use an fx8320, it sucked. So much that my i7 8750h felt fast. But now that I've used a 7600x for a while, the 8750h sucks
multiple users, 100gb+ files, i want minimize bottle necks and "futureproof"
I used to oc a 8370 BE with peltiers and a car rad
So fun
idk, the epyc cpu only makes sense if you need tons of PCIE lanes
like with a ton of GPUs
Otherwise, there are cheaper and faster alternatives
Also dont want to go am5 until i upgrade my main rig, just i think it would be stupid.
you can also use a 10g card + gpu not at 16 lanes
eh, I'd ignore the gen, just think of the price vs performance. Why spend more on a setup that'll be slower. The added cost comes in features you aren't using
otiplex build
dude, it's an Β£90 cpu that you can get for around Β£60 on ebay, do not, i repeat do not get it on aliexpress
im experiencing some hitching/stuttering in my cyberpunk benchmark, how can i work out whats causing this and help it
What's your GPU util at?
Mobo looks very msiy
gpu 99% cpu 40%
check per core usage
u think my graphics are just too high π’π’
its msi
on cpu in task manager?
uh it's an okay way. But you could also just try setting an FPS cap to see if it helps
or i have hwinfo64 if you can tell me how
No it should be able to go to 200% /j
set an fps cap 10%-20% below your average to see if it helps with the stutters
in my brothers system his cpu was at 120% usage once lmao
I'm assuming that whenever a CPU heavy scene pops up, your CPU struggles then stutters
alright thanks ill try this
10/20% is a lot tho since my average is 60 π
The program was reading the data wrong
unfortunate, but you need ways to give your CPU some breathing room
maybe close everything out
is there a way to pin hwinfo so it shows over the top of my game?
I'm assuming, 40% usage = a core or two is being MAXED out then lagging
yeah it was a broken version of hwmonitor
^?
No
You can use MSI Afterburner and turn on the overlay
Use MSI afterburner and the overlay
Hi
How's your tuning going
i setteled on the 7402p bc of how much faster it is from what i have now, i could have gone higher cores but slower speed and ended up where i am now or gone lower cores higher speeds, but am4/5 would have been more logical for the latter. MC servers arent the biggest priority, the server is for the nas and then the mc, its the entire platform upgrade that i like from what i have atm. that would allow me to be able to add more services on too with out worrying about cores or speed for a while.
o yeah π€¦ββοΈ
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/g94BD3/ this is a better offer
7000MT/s 40-44-44 passes 1usmus, Ycruncher and sometimes OCCT. It's like 50/50 if it passes it and I can do the runs one after another
but isn't AM5 just faster in both multi core and single core?
It either passes 2 hours or it doesn't pass 1 min
7402p use Zen2 cores
i saw 4/12 threads hit 60% usage but nothing above that
ah, then likely a GPU bottleneck
lower your graphics settings
yea, the 3070 would struggle at 1440p
60fps isnt bad though
the 8gb of vram is also annoying on it...
1440p ultrawide aswell
1% lows are more important than the average imo
average 60fps but 1% lows of 30fps would feel terrible to play
like it just takes you out of the game
when it stutters?
yep
im suspecting my computer has a virus or something of that sort. what can i use to make sure my computer is safe? virus/bitcoin miners ect.
if it maxes the vram, it will stutter lkelike crazy
what graphics? im on ultra no rt and dlss tranformer quality
tons of research looking at all services + tasks running, and watching your network usage to see if anything is irregular
If windows defender isn't picking up anything try Malwarebytes
1440p + rt + dlss balanced
wipe it if ur worried
ive heard of malwarebytes being a problem
theres no way in hell i could hit 55 with rt
what godsend 3070 are they using
wish i knew how. im very scared to mess something up.
it was in a specific part of the game I think
or wait, what CPU do you have?
the built in benchmark?
cyberpunk is a CPU heavy game too
tbf, it's on 1440p, not 3440x1440
I've been using it for years it's great
you have a lot more extra pixels
i love ultrawide what can i say
yea, your VRAM + CPU seem fine, guess it really is just the GPU
πΎ
12/32gb
ye, just the GPU then. Wasn't meant to be
3440x1440 is a difficult res to run at
Dw my 3070 struggled as well with the same resolution
As a person who had a 3070 with 2560x1440p and then 3440x1440p, I can definitely say that the 3070 will struggle with more demanding games
holy cook the hitching is WAY worse with frame gen
im lucky cyberpunk is the only demanding game i run
half life 2 runs fine π
Yeah you'll be fine with games like that, but when you get into these games like cyberpunk, or remnant 2 even, or like horizon forbidden west etc
At that resolution it's gonna struggle
1 is what i have now dual xeon, 2 is what im considering, and 3 is what your recommending, i dont need super fast cores for a minecraft server with max 2 people most of the time and 1 of them being afk. I belive i would benifit from the amount of core in the epyc for the purpose of the NAS specially with how big the files ill be storeing are. also motherboard maybe expensive but im buying as much as i can of ebay and facebook and then the rest on newegg or amazon.
maybe next gen ill upgrade to a 40 series when prices drop
That's what I did, on January 2nd
are u struggling to run the server at the moment?
I mean I said the 7900x later on
I bought myself a completely new system, got an asus tuf 4080 super for Β£1k ππ just before 50 series release, and oh boy was i smart to do that
replace it with the 7900x and compare
