At 12V, 150W (12.5A), you would be safe using 18 AWG wire, which is what PCIe 8-pin uses.

To clairify, the 150W 8-pin connectors are able to safely draw the entire 150W through a single wire.

Most 12VHPWR cables use 16 AWG, which can safely handle 200W (16A) of power each. Though, like Der8auer proved, you can see the cables pull as much as 265W (22A) through a single wire.
