AMD is just not an option for me
i'll be working with CUDA and RTX a lot
i bought a 4070 super and i regret getting it over a 7900 gre but to each there own ig
you can call 4x framegen BS, but ever since 30 series, RTX has been revolutionary, gotta give credit where its due
i mean 3090 and 4070 take shots at each other but 3090 is still better
the vram makes it worth it
is the more vram worth it over framegen ?
yes
Credit
yes
and i mean it was a popular mining card aswell
The 5090 is better than 4090 in games
5080 beats 4080 and 4080 super even if not by a lot
It's still faster. Still an improvement
you said this
the apps that requires cuda and rtx also wants more vram
unless you were just saying this bc u wanted nvidia for no reason and to put down amd
bc gaming and vram wise, amd is better lol
i doubt the 5070 will be that hard to get your hands on
We'll tcsm had an earthquake
ig but it didnt damage the facility
That's where the chips are made. So might actually be quite hard
the machines just needed recalibration thats all
Have they finished that
a few batches might have been messed up
I want that 5090 zotac amp infinity extreme
i havent kept up with it
It's so pretty.
I am literally on an AMD card right now, I've seen the lack of driver support lol
Many games run better on the Nvidia alternative of its generation (its very old though)
Point is, i'll be working with ray tracing in UE5 and AI with CUDA
I have the gigabyte gaming OC 5090
AMD isn't an option for me, or for any creator
Its just that 3090 has more vram over framegen
framegen would be worth it as it just "magically" increases fps lol idk
kingpin 5090 would be nice
i'll be doin 1440p maximum tho
is this an r9 390 lmao
bc even something as old as rx 480 is better today than its counterpart at that time (1060)
yeah if they actually put it in stock
spot on lol, but more older
r9 280 π
if the man wants nvidia let the man get nvidia
well i'm not looking for "max performance per dollar" type build for gaming
i want the creator features that nvidia domninates in
man need nvidia, man happi
lol
nah fr dont sell me on AMD, not gonna work
just tell me which is better, used 3090 or new 4070
used 3090
are 9800x3ds still reselling
4070 non super/ti is only 3080 level perf
best speedtest website?
for internet speed ookla
I'm gonna cry
it could be used for mining, right?
and even if its not, how much expected life does it have? like how long before it stops working
I would have bought an EVGA without question
bro i was just 120mbps speed and now its 4 (download)
i have an evga 1080 ti
I looked up 4070 super btw
3090 is $50 more expensive than 4070 super
That card is beautiful
its the FTW3 hybrid too
its been with me for years
i got it when they first released
what can 7900GRE do that a 7800XT can't?
its just slightly better performance
for like $20 difference
I was considering 2 3090tis in SLI from EVGA cuz they just good but I went 5090
https://www.newegg.com/p/0GA-01GD-00123?Item=9SIAX4CK3Z8938
I bought the non OEM slightly shady newegg listing well see how it goes
Duel 3090tis are useless unless it's for ai
SLI works with 3090?
Yes, 3090 and 3090ti is the last cards to support sli
No way? I thought it died long ago
I mean the support from developers has to have already died before
It only died for gaming, its still used on server stuff
Yeah but workstation gpus are a better option for server stuff anyway
Btw what alternative to SLI do those server workstation gpus have?
Thats so cool
That's not true, its all depending on its peformance and a gaming cpu can 100% be a workstation gpu
The power draw is stupid lmao
But it's very clean
I want to get me a 2nd 3090 for sli
Guys I had a pc laying around and I can't find the plug that goes into the PSU
Can I just buy one of Amazon? I'm not sure what psu I have
Yes, they all use the same outlet cable
Does wattage or all of that stuff matter?
So this should be fine
I think it changes with like 1200+ watt ones doesn't it? For cable gauge
depends on what you're using it for
nvlink :^)
That's sli lmao
a6000 also had nvlink too, iirc
no, they're nuanced
Gonna need 2 of those to play some crysis
I can't actually name any SLI supported games
sli works differently than nvlink
Is crysis one
wdym "gaming cpu can be a workstation gpu" ?
Yeah lol I can imagine
That was a typo
10 series introduced high bandwidth SLI bridge?
they just do p2p via pcie now
I dislike forums for this reason but anyone know how to fix this?
https://discord.com/channels/375436620578684930/1337988204988727468
also i'd disagree, workstation gpus have features that are noticeably absent from the geforce lineup
it's fine for prosumers but
They can still be a workstation gpu
UE5 with or without raytracing at 1440p
Running AI models locally (from 7b-13b)
Tinker with and create small custom models (and train them)
3090 easily then
ur not doing ai shit on 12gb vram lol
Alot of vram
You can on small models
Just get a 5090 (I'm JK lol)
even 4080 is mid for ml because even tho the processor is good its choked by "only" 16gb
Rip new driver support for 9 and 10 series
You can do a 4b model on 12gigs
ohh u mean that
nvidia skimps on vram for gaming gpus
all of that extra vram goes in workstation gpus
they have double the vram from their gaming counterparts
idk i think its h100 with 48 gigs meanwhile 4090 only has 24
The h100 also costs 20k
the difference between sli and nvlink is that sli uses a master-slave relationship and can't pool vram, meanwhile nv-link is bidirectional (and allows for vram pooling)
The 90 class doesn't tho lol
UE5
literally a game engine
running models
needs vram
make your own models
see above needs vram
12 gb should be enough for 7b models
but disregarding the AI stuff, is more vram still important for UE5 ?
could be mined on + is 2 generations old now + no framgenm
the H100 isn't a workstation card
meh
buy ls for $3 and get ur own frame gen
Why cant popular game youtubers stop being exposed for ###### how hard is it to not text minors π π
yeah they just want extra money from industries too lol
big companies dont care about paying 20k for a gpu when its efficient and does the task they wanna do
they usually trade off faster ram for capacity and ECC
ok and?
idk much about the terms
and power consuption lol
meh
then dont make claims that rely on you knowing the terms?
personally I'd rather have a 3090
I dont want a pc sucking the entire house load lol
its like +100w over 4070super r u that afraid
you seem to want a 4070 super, so buy that then
you can just power limit if u want efficiency
you cant give 4070 more vram
nah in reality, the 4070 draws a lot less but
yes, the vram is the key point i'd focus on
i wasnt making a claim based on the terms
I was just differentiating gaming gpus from the other gpus they make
ada power consumption is great
most workstation cards are literally their gaming cards, binned better, with more vram, and different drivers
i think my 4070ti used to draw like, something like half of the power my 3090 did
100w only for gpu is a lot
i'd also need a better CPU and cooling solution for all of that
its like literally a higher tier pc
also ECC for their vram, but said vram is usually slower
you can reduce 3090 power consumption to a level ur fine with
now i ask can you add vram modules to 4070
iirc the 6000 ada for example, has gddr6 and not 6x
so is slower than a 4090 in gaming
yup thats true
i was just pointing out that they have more vram
despite having more cores
i'm not going to underclock / experiment with a $500 gpu lol
dude it's just pulling down a slider
i used my 3090 at a 70% PL for the duration i had it for
most of the workstation variants are slower (in gaming), thats by design
they are deigned for stability first, and then capability (ie: vram amount)
also FP64 performance in some cases
mmm
and it doesn't impact anything else?
and when I need the power, i could just ramp it back up?
i mean, it might be a bit slower, but it'll be a lot more efficient
and yes, you'd just reset it back to normal in whatever oc software you'd be using
people use floating point 64? thats overkill lol
$500 gpu
glares at fucking with power play tables on my Vega
like afterburner
yer
for context, PPT isn't your normal OC settings, it would let you go beyond the software limits that keep you from exploding your card
i'd love to have an a5000 if they weren't so gosh darn expensive
PPT was overwriting the volt/freq table and power limits the driver is using, so you could run well well in excess of normal power with it
Yeah but I would have to do it every time I start working on game development or smth
is the default power plan really that inefficient? like when i'm on desktop, is it still inefficient?
no, it's just a side effect of having 24 x 1gb ICs that guzzles even on idle
and it really never bothered me whilst working in UE5 that my card was at a 70% PL personally
Ohh so even on idle, its gonna suck a lot more power?
what about 4070 super
i found my 4070ti absolutely destroyed my 3090 for PPW
but i'd still personally would rather have a 3090
btw what specifically are u tellin me to underclock? (i have no idea in overclocking)
power limit
ohh
you don't even need to undervolt it, though you can
but thats a more advanced tinkering, isnt it?
yes, you'd need to make sure it's stable
unlike power limits which takes 0 effort
interesting
yes? lots of things you run use fp64, just usually not on your GPU
you've used ue5 right?
is the more vram actually worth it? does ue actually need more vram or better cpu? i've seen lotta people discuss that
i'd have to get a better cpu for the 3090 too
uint64 is also used a lot, like a lot a lot
real men use FP128
it's really important for scientific models and simulations too iirc ^^
I mean yeah, I'm a 3d modeller & surfacing artist
I would say so yeah
you can get away with just doing more with more VRAM
I'm about 3 seconds from strangling whoever decided automatic bios updates should be a thing
it's ram, it doesn't really matter till you run out, but when you run out it fucking sucks
how else is dell suppose to meet there warranty denial quota
for scientific research and simulations, it makes sense
Got the parts for my new PC, canβt wait to play cyberpunk!
thing is older than some people in the chat, prob
Gonna be playing cyberpunk at 2x1 resolution
yeah but you can choose to not put 4k textures on everything lol
and realistically if i get 3090, i'd have to get a more powerful cpu than i'd have if going with 4070 super
Uhhh should i get this?
no you don't have to get a more power cpu if you get a more powerful gpu, who told you that
@peak knotdo you know what kind of mineral oil is used for those that submerge their pc's ?
probably a scam but a steal if it isn't
you dont? it will bottleneck the 3090 but not the 4070 super
yeah i think its too good to be true
dude... bottlenecks aren't a big deal
it's literally a non issue
im buying a new pc which i might not be upgrading for a long while
Almost certainly
i dont want it to have issues / bad decisions
the bigger issue with 'bottlenecks' is that it usually stems from budgetary mismanagement
Bottlenecks are made up by influencers because they lack what is known as common sense
you need to erase that word from your brain, language and dictionart
and definitely not bad pairing
trouble is, it's always the user, never the pc parts
The only "bottleneck" depends on the program you are using
nah, it's always the user
you can be literally gpu and cpu bottlenecked within the same frame that is rendering in game
you sure? how about i just pop in the 3090 with my i5 4570 that i have right now π
ok pairing an Athlon with 5090 (im trolling ofc)
I have yet to see anything perfectly max out both
i'd shove a 5090 in there if i was gonna upgrade the cpu later
Imagine though?
that cpu even bottlenecks r9 280 i have rn
not by much nor i mind it, but i would mind it if my new $1000 pc isnt pushing the most performance
Don't, just, dont
thats the point, i wont be upgrading the new pc for a long while
Your wallet, wall outlet, and motherboard will thank you
i want the pairing to be best
again
i wonder if the mobo will explode just by running 5090 lol
?? why would it
the real issue with bottlenecks is just that you probably just managed your budget awfully, but i'd take the fastest gpu and cpu i can get
dude you need to go learn more about PCs
idk like power draw or smth
You don't have to worry about the motherboard exploding, from what I've heard it's the 5090's exploding lmfao
π
lol
power supply? whats that thingamabob?
i thought it was the cables linking the different PCBs together on the FEs that's the issue
that and now your gpu isnt being used to its potential
Nothing is powered over pcie unless it is ultra low power.
lol
that's only if you run like some awful poverty resolution like 1080p

which you absolutely shouldn't be in the big 25
everything used to be pcie powered back in the day, even gpus
good ol times
dose anybody like coding with c and wan to talk about it i am a beginner
atleast back then they didnt explode lol
and even with a 9800x3d, you'd still be cpu bottlenecked for a lot of titles at 1080p
god can they just ban the word bottleneck from this server already
nobody like coding in C, even if someone does, they would rather not talk about it lol
C++ is little better but only when you're targeting the bare metal
4090 btw
cpu limited works better tbf
ye but my point is it just doesn't really fucking matter unless you have some really god awful pairing
that makes sense since you're at 4k and gpu cant push that many frames
and even then like, it just depends on what you're doing with it
not when you're doing game development or AI work
dude you're just trying to justify buying a 4070 super to yourself at this point
verdict is, a 3090 will probably be the better option
do start with C++ i have to learn C first? what is how you learn first
considering there's games and programs that either rely on cpu's or gpu's more so
if you don't like that you don't have to listen man
lol yeah thats true
just buy whatever you want, it's your money
if you can even find one lmao
they're plentiful where i live, but they went up in price looool
i bought one for $750 a year ago
and now they're $1000
cad btw
it depends on what languages you already know
if you know a couple, you could go directly C++ since you'd have more experience
so, llm's, aka gpu limited due to them wanting 12gb+ vram gpu's most of the time
i'm here to get advice bro chill
and when if you learned one laguange, its easier to learn another one? or r they completely differnt
i generally work in C++, but i can probabl answer your questions
3090? wdym I saw a listing for $550 online
idk if its legit tho
^
you're talking different countries markets though
550 us is about what they run for in canadian anyways
oh no, it's a bit less

nobody like coding in C
many people do
C++ is little better
C++ is both better and worse, theres always nuance
always getting screwed with them maple leaf's
they are completely different yes, but its definitely easier to learn the second language
its like learning to drive a car, once u know how, you can adapt to drive any car model (even racing cars, EVs, or automatic)
nah we had it good before
3090s were steadily going down in price
but then as blackwell launch got closer they suddenly skyrocketed
so what you are saying is, they aren't completely different?
and i'm annoyed because i don't want to use turding anymore
they've been bit of a disappointment to some, the blackwell cards that is
Now I can't make an AI farm.
Deepseek has to run off of my gpu
some are completely different, some are not
but that doesn't mean it'll be as hard to learn as learning the first language
i just want more vram
for rendering and substance painter
alls i know is compiler and some tiny code in for the compiler
Hello chat! Does anyone know whats the real world difference between a 8840HS, and a 8845HS?
i don't even need a faster card, i'd upgrade my 2080Ti(s) if it weren't so expensive here to do so
isn't it all bolean terms while having different phrasing for comp languages?
which ones would you say are completely different, which ones would you say aren't?
wdym you compiler?
one is 5 numbers higher than 8840
thanks
compil;er is wha compile source code into machine code my techer teached me this
I can't run the largest model without multiple gpus.
you need a compiler to in orber to code to run
Not enough VRAM or system memory.
is it just me or deepseek is like, the text version of yapdollar
yesn't
Real.
C# and Java are very similar
C# and C++ / C are very different
C++ and Python are very similar
and then there are some less common languages that are completely different
why id there so many
why did C keep making so many differenbt kinds was they just not happy and want to keep changing it how can they b so different
Why wont it turn off.
Time to kill
ohh i see
so you havent learnt a language yet? I wouldnt recommend C or C++ as your first language, they're really hard to learn first
:(( are you sure and also im use visual stuidio code is that good
i just listed like 10% commonly used languages
there are so many more lol
dont worry about it tho, once u learn the first, you'll easily have many languages under your belt
thak you
C# and C++ are pretty similar, on a broader scale
python and C++ are both imperative languages, and thats about all they have in common
ohhh, it waits 5 minutes after you send it a prompt before going night night.
I thought that was run time
read the docs folks
yes, im sure, dont worry
visual studio has support for everything, its great for beginners
unless you have a lower end PC, i wouldnt call it a bad choice
they said visual studio code, not visual studio
which is easier to learn
completely different things
what do you want to do with programming?
which is the difference
syntax wise and feature wise, c# and c++ are not really as similar as c# is to java
python is literally C++ under the hood
python is not C++ under the hood, and what its runtime is isn't important
if you want to use runtime as a consideriong, Java and C# are also both C++
i can use programming to create code in order to do things like help my grandpa with mailbox light. and also if i am good at progreamming. i can use it to create good video games and that are fun and get a job
C# and Java are basically the same language
is programming able to create a device that pick up a sound and then turn on a light so my grandpa can have a light turn on when the mail comes
fan someone make me a fan control profile
syntax wise, C#/Java are both C-like languages
see this list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_C-family_programming_languages
visual studio code is lightweight and has less features
it doesnt have the full suite of tools like an IDE (integrated development environment)
but with a couple of extensions you might be able to get the tools u need for the language you are working with
visual studio is one click solution for everything
need to work with c++? install the package and its ready to go
now u need to work with python? install the package and its ready to go
i may be biased but, typescript
Just generic mineral oil
start with python, its commonly used with the Raspberry Pi, which has GPIO for you to interface with things that aren't necesscarily other computers
ie: sensors, lights, etc
ok thank u i will learn more avout this terms
is raspi stock still shite
they're compiled, i wouldnt call them "based on c++"
python just translates your code to c++
and not just that, I've used both languages, they have literally 1 to 1 syntax, features, function names, etc
no
what is this
raspis are readily available
it's javascript but with static typing
okies, was wondering if it would be viable as coolant instead of the standard coolant for used for custom loops
they're compiled
they're both compiled and interpreted, and JIT compiled, its fun
python just translates your code to c++
no it doesn't
I've used both languages
no you haven't, if you make that claim
@tired geyser i would recommend you start with python since its the easiest, and is widely used so it has a large scope
ok ia will learnboth at the same time becus i am in the middle of learning c and now watching python teacher
personally, i would do things one at a time but you do you
heres the Java OpenJDK, and its runtime, https://github.com/openjdk/jdk
besides the Java code that is obvously going to be there, C++ followed by C are the next large chunks of the project
python is an interpreted language that uses C++
it might be JIT compiled for performance, but the core of the language is that its interpreted
no i would recommend you stick to one
any language you like, but stick to it, and master it, before you move on
any way you want to spin that, its not "translated to C++"
and they very very much do not have 1:1 syntax, features, or function names
shudders in template errors
you looked on Facebook marketplace yet?
so its still bad?
It's good
is it though?
worse*
im banned from fbm cuz im under 18
I mean a lot of the complaints with JS is the mysterious bugs caused by type coercion which TS solves
Rx 6950βs are in stock poggers
ok, but, but its still based on JS, therefore bad
Though the drawbacks is the amount of extra code thanks to the interfaces you have to constantly write
neat, not sure how you want us to help you
fuck facebook
Sucks to suck
interpreted language literally means you execute each statement line by line in any other language
by "translated" i dont mean you convert the code into C++ and then execute
but i mean that each statement is translated into C++ individually and then executed
would be a bit viscous no? also messy
i have to be 18 to buy from the lizard man's online selling place but not 18 to drive a car
why dose david malan video he is coding on visual studio code but it say $ in the terminal i dont have that what do i do python
fuck u reptilian robot
Python is compiled straight to bytecode with a C++ based interpreter
In no stages is it converted into C++ first
also, its not C++ in the first place
He's using a Linux terminally, thats why
some commands he uses might be different than the one you use
but ultimately, you wont be using the terminal as a beginner, so don't worry about little things
C C++ potato tomato
zamn
the reference interpreter is written in C https://github.com/python/cpython
ugh he say use visual studio code for python for begining now i have to find a new teacher
Is there anything wrong with this statement....?
And any teacher who mains linux instantly has bonus credibility
whats the difference between c, c++ and c#?
where do you want to start?
at the beginning ig
the year was 1969..........
mark zuckelburg is born
Yeah but isn't the default interpreter PyPy?
no, cpython is, thats literally from Python
markl zucker burg mom give born to the first programmer
like, thats the one developed by the Python Software Foundation
cpython is by definition the python runtime
why id it so diffucult to begin learning python how do iu start if i don have linux on my pc
He's right, use visual studio code for python as a beginner, whats wrong with that?
I just meant you dont have to worry about his terminal being Linux (having $)
I love ()=>{}
so if i install python from their official website, it uses cpy?
i thought it was pypy
so it work with just type the text without sguilly line?
theres a free version of this, idk if they link it from the same page
yea, it uses cpython
Just install python and use VSC
what are you using terminal for?
Modern education curriculum is fucked.
No basic computer knowledge, straight to code
erm
Too much computer knowledge without code for too long is also fucked
You dont learn theory when you're self taught
gross over simplifications, from C, C++ is object oriented, and also has some other features like templates
from C++, C# is garbage collected has a runtime which helps with code portability but may also hinder performance
what id first thing you learn about the computer? or what you like would for everybody to know if they were to know some things first
You don't need it. Install vscode, install python extension (it'll ask you), and then start coding
Press F5 to run your code. You won't need the terminal
i think it work without extension
i had access to this snake
you'd be amazed at how common it is for software engineers to not know what the fuck their code is actually doing at all even just one level down
the only skill that matters is being able to learn and stumble your way across
when you come across a problem, be able to solve it on ur own by any tools u have. thats what matters
No
like as i am doing right now! talking to linus server and you guys are helping !
If it works, you're good to go
Glycol premix is best
I mean its still taking external help. you might not have someone helping you at all times
sometimes you just have to do it on your own without asking anybody for help
you can instead look up on google, find information already out there, or use AI for help
are all just more or less complicated or are the different in other ways(code, usage, smth like that)
and then one day i will be there to help others like my grandpa
depends on what you are trying to do
C is a thin layer on top of assembly, its best to think of it more as high level assembly
if you are making an OS, you use C
oh
all modern OSes are written in C
Most valuable skill right now
Is learn how to google and read stack overflow
C++ adding objects helps with higher level program architecture, but also adds a lot of potential complexity in how things may be working
C++ also still has all the foot guns that C does, which can be very useful, but are also foot guns
i'd argue that common sense is a better skill
C# takes away some of those foot guns, or at least makes it so you cant unintentionally use them
the main foot gun with C/C++ is pointers
what is best ai to help with coding issues
dont use AI to help you with it
C# mostly hides pointers from you, except in an unsafe block, so you cant accidentially access something you shouldn't, the runtime will keep you from doing that
780ti missing a capacitor but still posts somehow
Iβm also learning how to code itβs best to avoid ai and learn the fundamentals and everything without it
That way when ai messes up you understand why itβs wrong and how to fix it
the AI will lie, the AI will give you bad code, the AI will make up shit that doesn't exist
learn to write code yourself first
It's very useful once you know how to spot mistakes already however
it may be useful, take with salt
kinda goofed up already, i just jammed the script into chatgpt again and again until it worked (its still utter garbage)
It's quicker than going through documentation
It can hallucinate logic
But it's near perfect in recalling written facts
oh, yea, for documentation quesitons its great
dont ask it to write code for you though
someone took some of my code and put it through chatGPT, it actively made it worse (and broke it)
I mean you can, but not in the way the typical people do it
the main problem i have with AI tools is context, or lack there of
Slapping the entire codebase and asking for a feature will definitely break shit
when the file is 30kloc, its not fitting into chatgpt
was it simple like "this else statement shouldn't be here" or something like that or did it rewrite the entire thing
But doing it in tiny chunk with prompts like
"Make me a function that takes this interface (interface) as param. which calls this, does this when error, then fetch that, bla bla bla"
something to make Python devs cry in pain
Basically just converting your logic into written code cause you're lazy
it removed most of the function calls that actually do stuff, so thats how it broke it
the making it worse part is things like swapping fori loops for foreach loops (note: java), and also using parallel streams when i had my own threading stuff that exists for a reason
No
Love me some ternary expression
And list comprehension
sure it is missing or it was never there in the first place (just because pads are marked it doesn't mean it was populated)
it didn't change much in reality
i love it
I think i abused list comprehension and ternary expression way too much
A bit obsessed with one liners
i could just write that code faster than i could get it to do it for me
Not when you're using hyper verbose language like typescript
i was meaning in C++
have you heard of autocomplete ?
though Java would also be a fair guess, if i dont specify, its either C++ or Java
Intellisense can't do everything
well theres your problem
It gets easy if you already written all the required interfaces/types
in reality, actually writing the code isn't the bottleneck
Then intellisense works like magico
I don't want this
are you doing backend types raw ? Then of course you need to write your types on your own
once you get to a sufficiently large project, you spend less and less time writing code, and far far more reading code and deciding what you want to write
any sane person automatically generates OpenAPI spec of backend services, which for which then you can autogenerate client libraries and types
actually yea most of my queries on copilot is mostly looking for react features i don't know yet
cause reading docs kinda sucks
i knocked it off last year , and the gpu have been sitting for quite some time now
the it is possible it goes through rest of the small caps, which can handle idle, but might burn itself under higher VRM load
they should rename react to useEffect()
that cap is quite big in the pic
by small i meant PCB mounted ones. it is still not this type of cap
its the rectangle cap
right but can i ask the ai for point me in the directino first i can look up what they say in google just use for specific harder to find answer
just use google?
in comparison, SMD caps are miniscule
indeed, i noticed that younger generation uses AI for things they could just google
yes these ones
define "younger generation"
new developers from last years
i dont use ai but people has said it is good to help with coding
it can help if you are bad at formulating your questions to google. One needs to never forget AI is often based on outdated training set (it doesn't know anything about stuff after certain cutout date), it can hallucinate and so on.
plus the copyright/license issues were never solved with AI, so it can be problematic to use any code AI generates if you care about your code being legally clean
for example the code AI generated could have been based on a GPL source code, but you can't know, because AI doesn't tell you what it based their code on. So is now your commercial or even MIT licensed application in breach of GPL? π€·ββοΈ
i mean sure, you could be "inspired" by AI code, but i would never take code 1:1 from AI results outside of possibly small obvious code segments where copyright issues are obviously non-existing. But then as Oracle vs Google shown, even API interfaces can be copyrighted and protected, so copyright is a legal minefield
google has significantly downgraded over the last few years
and AI literally does what google does, but better
i'd say google is officially deprecated lol
ai can help sometimes but you have to check to see if it is telling the truth or fact
it didn't go worse for me, but i might be good at formulating my queries. And every AI tool has a cutoff date for their data, so it knows nothing about newer stuff
I'm not gonna talk about copyright.
But AI is damn great for prototyping, getting things started, and laying a foundation for any software solution
anything that you have to program, ask the AI and it'll lay a great foundation, and then u can go from there
People have said its worse, and I've seen it a little worse, but I dont use it much myself
I ask AI most of the stuff, and it gets the job done. When I have to google, its for looking up docs or smth very specific / niche
And cutoff dates for AI models is a thing of the past. If you take any model (idk about opensource models), they're regularly updated and have capability to search and browse the internet, so it works very well
Pretty much you can ask it about all new things
i noticed it getting worse, and because of that switched engines
i quite like kagi
a problem copilot can't solve i just fixed after 5 minutes of reading stack overflow
my queries are usually highly specific, so i don't get much irrelevant spam. Well, not more than i was getting before.
i mean, mine are generally quite specific too
but, the "AI overview" and then summary links, and if it manages to sneak some sponsored stuff in there too (ublock usually gets that)...
kagi, first thing is usually the link i want, no bullshit between me and the thing i was actually looking for
man, yesterday i complained about how everything TB3 has stupid pricing

i am so getting annoyed by articles which use AI pictures and they don't even bother to redo the pictures. Like this headline picture about EU possibly removing tarrif exemption for packages from China π
it gets worse more you look at it
Oka
things is, AI images can be good if they put some thought into it and not just take the first result off bing image maker
do you expect a freelancer writing for a tech website to even bother?
i don't think a human wrote it
the article is written by a human, that part can't be automated in smaller countries yet π
Probably shouldn't touch dis
Funny enough, i modded my other psu to be fully silent (with an old cpu cooler)
what do u guys think about runing discord on windows 98
Lian li drunk ?
Not practical
Also discord runs like ass on everything
What were you thinking, lianli
I hate AI art so much
Real
i guess they seen Corsair Shift and decided to make their own?
Damn it, i won't be able to get cheap shi from aliexpress
But worse
it is not banning, just some changes https://www.theguardian.com/business/2025/feb/05/eu-to-tighten-checks-on-goods-sold-by-sites-such-as-shein-and-temu
Brussels officials also urged EU lawmakers to phase out the exemption on customs duties that is allowed for parcels under β¬150 (Β£125), which enables foreign suppliers to sell cheap goods in the bloc without paying the tax.
More like they are after those fake ssds
Like this is the first phone i own that it runs fine on
It has a flagship chip from a few years ago
actually computer tech is least of the issues. We talk about child toys or clothing with toxic stuff
or dangerous chargers
Tbh why even is there tarifs in the eu when getting junk from outside the eu
Like i can't buy shit from ebay because I'm scared i won't be able to pay the stupid vat
Guys if my fresh new HDD i just bought the other day shows here as 1% bad blocks, should i return it or is it like fine?
New? Yeah return it
Why are you buying hard drives in 2025
WOOOO, For me it runs decently on computer, but has glitches still, on phone, sadly if I click off of video call or stream and go back in it'll just be pitch black and I've had times where my keyboards permanently stuck after swiping to remove it in app or disappeared completely too, also not being able to leave calls and having to restart my phone lmao
because they are still half the price of ssds
What capacity are you going for
1tb? Nope
4TB
Above 2 then they are cheaper yes
and its gonna be in 3+1 zfs
My pc runs discord kinda fine but i use the browser version soo
so whatever
Oh yea def has way more glitches there
I need a new name on here :(
Well discord is buggy on my phone, but at least it loads pretty quick, compared to my previous phones or my 2 spare phones that take a minute to load into discord
Thiccc Linus
Ah
Hmmm idk what phones they are but ive never really had problems with it doing that
Tbh in a few years hard drives will cost more than ssds
when that time comes, i'll likely switch, but until then - it is what it is
Am3 = ddr3
Am4 = ddr4
Am5 = ddr5
That means am6 will be when ddr6 xdd
yes. And that is 2028+
DDR6 spec is not yet finalized
My main is a very messed up honor 20
One of my spares is an lg k8 2017 i got for 5β¬ off fb marketplace
The other spare is a Samsung galaxy a3 2017 that i found at ewaste and installed lineage os 17.1 (not officially supported)
Yup, conincides with am4 lifetime and am5 promises
that's probably why it takes so long tbh πππ
Before 2030 tbh
Lmao
I have fm2+, that's also ddr3
Lol
nice
I like ur pfp!!
I mean even my previous phones (huawei p20 lite, redmi 10) had issues
The phone I want is the umm
Yea, nah it's garbolium
where is your AM1 socket tho
Tbh i want a pixel 9 or 9 pro
(that is the only exception from AM=DDR rule)
I don't have that old of a nugget
AM1 is DDR3 platform from 2014
Socket AM1 is a socket designed by AMD, launched in April 2014 for desktop SoCs in the value segment. Socket AM1 is intended for a class of CPUs that contain both an integrated GPU and a chipset, essentially forming a complete SoC implementation, and as such has pins for display, PCI Express, SATA, and other I/O interfaces directly in the socket...
a whole list of 5 CPUs for it π
It's one of the oneplus phones
hope it is not 10 Pro π
I have the rog phone 6 and it's terrible, I've never had a worse phone, battery life has been terrible since I got it, volume down button barely has worked as well, over heating issues and they wouldn't honor my warranty as well even though these problems were they're fault lol
Wait wat
Why are ear buds so expensive these days
That's a waste
I'm not sure, hold on
it was an APU platform under the FM2+, for super cheap systems
Because hod damn Bluetooth
I think it's the second to newest one? It was 500 smth dollars so
Ah
And here i was thinking it was before am2 which was before am3
Weβre almost 11% through 2025
This board looks pretty similar to my fm2/fm2+ board (it accepts both)
M.2 wtf
754 -> 939 -> AM2 -> AM2+ -> AM3 -> AM3+ -> AM4 -> AM5
At same time AM3+ lived we got FM1->FM2->FM2+ and AM1
The purple is so pretty on this one but idrk about the genshin part..
that is not M.2. That is mPCIe
Damm
Altho October coming closer, meaning ewaste full of pcs
Oh no, 1 pcie gen 2 lane

Or the ol wifi
Isn't wifi like 35 years old
The purple on it is so πΌπΌπΌπΌ
i replaced the mPCIe card in this with a 2.5 gigabit ethernet
I can agree the purple looks nice
that color would look so good on nails too omg
i need to buy some cheapo small USB drives for these guys so i can boot from PCIe NVMe on them using chainloading

Is 35celcius on idle good for r7 9800x3d?
Can someone explain this to me? I just bought Helldivers 2 for my gf, It took her 10 minutes to install the full game on her laptop with an ethernet connection(SSD), I had to download an update of 3.5GB, so far it has taken 30 minutes, and it's only 50% done... i'm on a stationary PC, with nvme drives, ethernet connection(600mpbs for both computers)
Like how is it possible it takes longer for the update to finish
different mirror?
Should be hooked up to the same steam servers.
It's not my download speed that is the issue seemingly, since the download was finished like 15 minutes ago.
But the game is on an NVME, my OS is on an SSD.
I guess it's due how steam/helldivers handle patches? Since it's need to overwrite preexisting files, rather than just download>extract for a new install?
what pc can i build for 500$?
Arduino
first question is if you are after brand new parts or used, cause you can buy a lot more for that budget from used parts. Also #1106613567966429224
Pretty safe to buy both used CPU and GPU, if you trust the seller. Would avoid buying used SSD/HDD and PSU.
did Sony really get hacked again
Wouldn't be to suprised.
Guys monitor recommendations for this laptop?
ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (2022), AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS, 15.6" (39.62 cm) FHD 300Hz, 6GB GeForce RTX 3060 Graphics, Gaming Laptop (16GB/1TB SSD/Windows 11/Office 2021/90WHr Battery/Gray/2.2 Kg) FA507RM-HF030WS
My budget is under 250 dollars.
Security cost money, and if there is something all the big players in the tech world hates, is spending money they can't objectively put into their neat little spreadsheet too see their % return of their investment.
Question guys. I have a cyber power prebuilt with the 7600 7600 combo. I put a 32gb corsair ram kit in it and after I did I get random crashes constantly
What would be the first thing you would do to try and fix it?
Clear cmos
there's different variances in how thick the mineral oil can be
okies dude
that's like insanely low I think π
not insane but def low
The last time I used a ryzen processor it was at like 60 idle
SOMEONE HELP.
rs6 goated π
I NEED HEPL OVE R MY LAPTOP.
oh sorry
pretty normal
ok no help ig
Sorry for the stupid question (maybe), but for some reason I donβt understand my wifi card is doing something it shouldnβt. Iβm connected to my hotspot and it shows in windows as connected (not βno internetβ, it shows as if it is connected and working), but the wifi just doesnβt work. On my iPhone I do have a mobile data connection that is working and on windows it just doesnβt work at all. I tried restarting both devices, restarting wifi card, checking the advanced tab of the wifi card, I did a virus scan, I checked for corrupted system files (sfc /scannow) etc. Iβd consider me an advanced user, I already tried all the normal stuff (reconnecting to wifi, restart etc). Thanks for any help in advance
Maybe itβs just windows being windows, but Iβm on stable builds, so that shouldnβt happen, should it?
uhm.
buy a new wifi card
very simple π
sounds like some bad mounting for that
- Itβs a laptop, 2. Itβs not the wifi card, else it wouldnβt show me the wifis and let me connect to it successfully without any errorsβ¦
Yes, it was a 7800x, I ended up going to intel, I'm going back to ryzen whenever I upgrade again
Iβve had wifi modules go bad in laptops
WiFi usb receivers are a decent stopgap
But then it wouldnβt let me connect to a wifi
And showing a connection on the phone (hotspot)
we will know in like 48 hours or so. GDPR mandates any breaches have to be published within 72 hours of becoming aware of it. Pretty obvious that if they got hacked, they must know about it, as they were offline.
If they do not notify EU, they can get fines up to 4% of their global turnover, which is something not even Sony can afford
It shows as connected but itβs just not working
A dead module would just show no network adapter at all wouldnβt it?
Hmm, is there a version of pro tech toolkit that also has the big screwdriver from manta set. Talking about ifixit stuff
Does it say "Connected, no internet"?
if my mouse dpi range is 800-12800 and the only way to change it is a button how much does it increase it by each cliick
Read the manual
No βConnected, securedβ and the tray icon says internet access
π
Thatβs why Iβm confused
Itβs neither the hotspot nor the wifi card, because the wifi was working half an hour ago with a different network and the hotspot is working with another laptop
Can you ping 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1
I have no idea what is going on
100% packet loss
Try renaming your iPhone
8.8.8.8 has 25% loss, 1.1.1.1 has 100% loss
In that case it sounds like a problem upstream of your computer
8.8.8.8 has 20-33ms response time
Yeah so the problem is your phone or the network
powersave mode on with your laptop ?
Problem solved
7990 was interesting too. It's one of the product types killed by Broadcom purchase of PLX
It was working half an hour ago with a public wifi (and vpn) and the hotspot is right now working with another laptop so it can be neitherβ¦
Yeah, no battery rn
I got one on my wall lol
Fuck email.
and this was one of the best looking, but one of the worst GPU heatsinks technically
because the GPU fans were under the heatsink, so it ewas nightmare to replace them
680 was even worse, that one had fans in middle
lok
it is absolutely descriptive, what else do you expect it to tell you when it cannot initialzie memory card ?
it's like saying "why can't the motherboard tell me my CPU doesn't work when it's dead" π
whats amd's version of the 4060 ti?
I have all 290x x2 and 295 x2 cards
Now testing quad sli
yeah i was looking at that and i was confused
so theres no real competitor then
maybe saying which card/channel is fucked
what quad, theres just 2
6700xt < 4060 ti < 6750xt
Itβs not 4 way sli itβs quad cause these are both dual GPUs
Itβs 4x GTX 285 cores in 2 GPUs
oo thats cool
thank you i was only looking at radeon 7000
because it doesn't want you to know why it's dying
it dies silently.
and privately
pc from trashed parts i found
found out anyways BootCard-3.mcd was corrupt
so that's Card 0 Channel 3

thats nice :)
dont know tbh
just saying idk
What
imma tell u in dms
My DMs are closed
oh okay then
Do not dm me
then everybody will hear me man

Yeah I saw that's possible it's pretty cool
tsk ig i cant tell u
agreed
Aight
some people say itβs not worth it because fsr is ass now apparently
some guy said itβs literally unplayable compared to playing native
The fuck?
lmaoo wtf is happening
tf do people have against upscalers lmao
Yeah I watched some comparisons and it's not that good
itβs fine
But it's not unplayable
gn video?
Yeah
in assetto corsa you can control the exact pixel density
so i just run 80% of the full image
Possibly since I watch multiple videos on a single topic
fairs i need to watch it
That rule is basically never enforced lmao
they even said dlss is unplayable
in what world is dlss bad
are they using a 20 series gpu or something
Theirs
What caused it to die?
Rip
I took the pic not caring about actual reported temp the board was off when I took the pic
130 has to be pretty hot right?
Do basic math
oh,
Itβs just my thermal image showing the massive glowing chip being the dead thing
iβm a scientist i donβt do whatever that is
If you were actually a scientist youβd know the fuckin conversion and could do it in your head
i once saw a guy do 12+32 on a calculator after 30 seconds of standing there thinking
funny joke
no fucking way
Guys how to fix no signal?? I alrdy plugged my hdmi to my gpu
in what possible universe will i EVER use fahrenheit
In science math is hard 1+1=X=2 always
real
In the world where some formulas use Fahrenheit, and itβs important to know standard conversions?
name a formula that uses fahrenheit
you canβt because none do
My favorite example is 1 cup of water and 1 cup of 99% iso alcohol when poured together is less than 2 cups of fluid
Chem1 was a long time ago, I donβt remember the fuckin names, but there was 100% at least one that had both a Celsius and a Fahrenheit version
hey would we need to know standard conversions of a unit we have never used
we arenβt american why on earth would we even consider the fahrenheit one
Because other people do, and you donβt live in a vacuum
I normally do have it in c but a buddy was wanting to verify his thermometer was reading right so input it in F mode
go to bed FzR
we donβt even use celsius most of the time
no they donβt
No im on a net zero atm for the night i fixed a gpu and killed a motherboard
guys just use kelvin
not once in my entire career has someone used fahrenheit
celsius to fahrenheit is kinda pain to convert without a calc
The substance is -40 figure it out lol
its like 9C/5 + 32
even then american scientist use celsius/kelvin
they shouldnβt be using fahrenheit
i fixed a motherboard that was shorting because of bent pins yesterday, i think its missing a pin so need to find out what that was meant to do but still you should really go to bed then you can fix more things when you have gotten a good days sleep
idfk
iβd just ask you to rewrite it in readable format
Psst -40F and -40c is the same
damn
Itβs the point the two temps cross
never knew that
you didnt?
no
Guys how to fix no signal I already plugged my hdmi to my gpu

again in what scenario am i ever going to use fahrenheit
Help pls
you wont but still
or whenever any other scientist use fahrenheit
quadgrapjics

this is perfect for what i want to do
lets see how to set it up on truenas scale
Hey guys, I've replaced some lipo batteries in a lap-dock a while ago cuz the old batterys were puffed up and dead, and now ive noticed a semi-sweet smell from the laptop/box around the battery area. A quick googling showed that the sweet smell is likely the electrolyte. Ive now torn apart the laptop, and looked at the batterys. They are all holding a acceptable voltage 3.65V, evenly. They dont look puffy, they aint feeling wet.
Im thinking that the electrolyte smell is likely from the old batterys, however ive noticed that the batterys seem to have some sort of tiny "bumps" on them. Which could just be from me peeling off the paper that keeps the battery-pack ridgit, which ive reused from the old pack. I was wondering if yall could give me some input about the bumps and perhaps what yall think is likely.
All the batterys had the bumps that are visible on the middle lipo, and i was able to easily push them down again with my finger on the other lipos
I havent done so on the middle one so that i could take a picture
hallo malorie
@mellow cairn if i proxy through cloudflare i shouldn't need to bother with SSL cert shit on my nginx right
Ofcourse i couldn't perfectly match the cells of the original, so i took cells that were over-specced in comparison to the old ones
Correct
Totally
Assuming youβre using Cloudflare Tunnels
Good morning π
I just enable the proxy button on the dns page
In that case you may need to adjust the SSL settings in Cloudflare
Give it a go and see
pc and PC
you meant while doing something then idle?
Though tbh i might just do direct IP record (no proxy) and handle the SSL anyway since the proxy got doo doo speed.
If itβs set to full/strict or whatever they call it Iβm pretty sure the origin needs a valid cert
I'm starting to think that I should buy older black GPUs, paint them white, and resell them
also you are not even showing voltages
i was researching how to undervolt on firefox in the before thats it
was the video in 4K?
also you have not undervolted
Itβs very easy to setup
Sim mind looking at this?
https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/xDsnyW
The graphics card will eather be 5060 (ti) or 9060 / 9070 depending on whats good when theyre coming out

researching how to overclock 7940hs
yeah might run a VM as it should be REALLY easy to setup from what i have seen
i was supposed to get the qck edge but the cashier said there's a discount if cash so i had to withdraw but there were long lines at the closest ATM
might be able to run sims 4
looks good
what's a QCK edge?
steelseries mousepad
Hard to use on mobile
how do you know its undervolted?
i feel like its not made to be done on mobile also thats your LAN ip
Yep, direct IP I'm getting 500mbit from my fileserver and through the cloudflare proxy only a measly <100
Might just have to deal with the certs
so you just set the cpu to eco mode π
That is not the right way to do an undervolt at all
yeah cos it's summer i dont want the cpu getting hot.
Also you should've set FAW to 20
what
so it was getting to 95c+?
since its MADE to do 95C 24/7
no idle was too high when just doing normal tasks. I will PBO it when I need to.
Then set it to offset mode, not fixed
Follow the PBO/CO guide pinned in #overclocking , then apply an offset -0.05 voltage after that
At AMD, weβre extremely proud of what our engineers accomplished with the new Ryzen 7000 series processors and platform from all angles. Whether itβs performance, efficiency, or longevity, this is just a killer processor. But to push the boundaries, you have to break convention sometimes, and that c...
so idle was 95c?
no like in the 60s
thats normal also you do not know what idle is
help please. https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/t7yzjj/the_amd_e240_strikes_again_possibly_the_worst_r23/
I have the same cpu but im unable to install windows 10 on my pc. I have AMD E240 APU and whenever i install windows 10 I end up with DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE and OOBE KEYBOARD and other oobe errors while installing. Any solution? I want to move to windows 10 for mcbe and other applications which are not supported by windows 8.1
its e-waste
could u pls elaborate
you need to reduce the voltages for it to be undervolted
it went from 50-60 while browsing to now 40s (temps)
Could i make Asus ap201 like Jonsbo D31 Mesh case? i don't want mesh panel on the right of case like asus have. Could i tape it with duct tape inside, to cover mesh side panel? (reason is i need to keep pc on left side of desk, and sometimes some water drops might get on case side, and mesh would allow them get inside.
1.3 > 1.1
a yes a cpu so powerful with its one core and one thread with no L3 cache and 1.5GHz max speed
ik but thats all i have now π
anyways you just made your 9900X more like a 7600X
tbh im typing this in the exact same computer
How low do I have to go? 0.9V?
anyways it will just use more power and get hotter due to haveing 2 CCDs like i told you many times you did not need or should not get
but still unless its 95c+ you are fine you do not need to worry about it
ok so I will up it to 5.2ghz, then 1.2V and unlock the tdp to 170w. Will that make it a 9900x?
0.001v
Do not manually overclock Zen
Follow the PBO/CO guide like I've said, then apply an offset voltage to undervolt
is the pbo guide on reducing temps or max performance?
Zen is just hot in general bro
just use optimized defaults then set expo/xmp to then just run normaly since again the cpu is MADE TO DO 95c 24/7
Hey guys, I woke up to find out that my PC went from sleep mode to shut down overnight.
Got an Event ID 6008 - The previous system shutdown at 00:01:28 on β09/β02/β2025 was unexpected.
Got an Event ID 41 - The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
However for some reason at 00:11:42 Windows was downloading an update - Windows Update started downloading an update.
Now I went to bed well after 00:01:28 so I'm confused how the hell this happened
the ihs is a thiccc boy with am5
Wonder how they built it to take that temperature
bro I literally start sweating once I turn on the pc
probs more just testing rather then doing anything to special
wha
?
Thatβs a chair problem
cos room gets hot
Open a window?
pc only uses like 50w at idle
In winter here, I can literally sub zero cool my pc if I put it outside
I know, but in theory
aren't there problems with condensation when pc is outdoors
maybe a squirrel will steal your ram π
It'll be shocked by the board first
A better solution would probably involve anti-freeze, a heat exchanger, and a radiator
no
And probably ruin the motherboard by touching the CMOS
Both
It does both
you mean the 3v battery?
It'd get damaged probably from static
highly likely at least
its 3 volts
no its 3 volts
Donβt you need like 12 volt to actually bridge through water?
It's still a shock, and it'd get damaged
NO
Does anyone recall how the RX 6600M card scompare to the regular RX 6600?
it takes like 50v before you even have a good chance of getting shocked
nop
Itβs the RX6600 but worse
Putting your pc outside is better than keeping it inside
a shock is a shock, whether you feel it or not. But static discharge will ruin a cmos battery 9 times out of 10
the 6600M is the 6600M but worse?
Itβs the average static shock like 16 million volts?
no???
It's basically slightly worse no?
Typo
@tidal geyser is this shit
So just a hair worse then... hmmmmmm
i just use what ever the bios has defualt also the pump should be at 100%
Those are fans
as always its how much power its allowed to draw
My hunt for a cheap white GPU has fallen to these two cards>>>>
second one looks better imo
Are you in the US? I could sell you my 6800 for 250 bucks, you'd have to paint it though
