id rather get 85 and the game look better than use dlss on a $1000 card that will get more than 85fps natively
ebay addiction
can you sell one of them to me
nuh uh
okay, i understand
i have one model each of the nintendoes except nes and virtual boi
i temporarily owned a wii u in 2020
Where is this $1000 figure coming from lol, i agree the 5080 is kind of an L upgrade
I guess its like would you rather have a 7900xtx or a 5070ti cuz theyre like the same price at MSRP
I want a portable console
whatever i find in the dumpster behind best buy
Facts
i have two gbc, a gba sp, nds lite, new 3ds xl, psp 2000, v1 switch, analogue pocket, and some retro chinese handhelds
There's this nice quad core with 1ghz
never owned a ds as a kid
And it's a good price
Honestly at this point i cant be too picky with a new GPU
I was a Wii and DS kid
handhelds are fun to collect and use
13
Good times
i started collecting consoles when i was 13
i have a retroid pocket mini, an analogue pocket, and a powkiddy v90
the v90 is the ugly stepchild among them
i dont know anything about those
are they like emulation devices or do they play original carts
its good for home console gaming on the go
emumalation, but the analogue plays carts
cool
the retro handhelds are meant for home console games tbh
I like having the originals personally
same
i like flashcarts
more convenient
and i lost a lot of physical carts in a fire 12 years ago
750 retail + low stock high demand
and pc discs
I am thankful to live in a place where fires are relatively rare
electrical
house, yes.
still sucks
most of the wiis i have are at least somewhat modified
only one doesn't have any changes
So true
Isnt that every med-high end card though
yeah just steal it
i had a 2080 and i just upgraded to a 3060 Ti is that good?
no
only brand new ones, the hype dies down eventually
hi
hi
ih
After I upgrade my 3700x to something newer how well would it work for a storage server for movies and Linux ISOs with a 2.5Gbit nic
overkill lmao
And would I need a gpu for plex to work on it?
how do i install opus codec on win 11
Would the 1050 be good enough for UHD Blu-ray rips
its usually combined with whatever software is trying to use it
are you upscaling or just downscaling
its not on win media player, lemme try vlc rq
well thats why lmao
I’m not sure. Never used plex but I plan on using 4k Blu-ray movies
ok so more than likely 1:1 or downscaled, a 1050 should be plenty
just ask @thorny saddle
vlc dont work either
are we allowed to help people with ripping?
mpv
Anyone have a video or something on new amd cpu nomenclature? The articles on Google are outdated
what article
Articles* but yeah
I guess I could throw my 3080 in it. Not sure if it would be enough tho 😂
why not just.. sell the rig and buy an actual nas
Nah I’m still using my 3080 to game on. I’ll get a gt 1030 for it before I’d stick a 3080 in it lol
The only prob with 1050 is it doesn't support the latest codecs
oh i didn't expect you to be awake still
So I went down this path
Does arc work good for it?
Yes but not in this case
My server is not THAT old, but doesn't support rebar
so the B580 is severely held up
But would be perfect for the 3700x
I really hate that 20 series didn't get rebar
for any rig with PCIe 4.0 and rebar
like construction rebar?
@left dove I am thinking of doing something stupid
Microcenter has 265k for $299 and $70 off any z890 mobo
ok but when are you gonna buy me that minisforum itx board
I hope you're aware that I am fully joking
lol i know
Just gotta make sure
i cant wait till i can build my own pc
me either
dont think so
i wanna go for a fractal north with 0 rgb inside
it isn't even 6 months old and they're already killing it
yeah like that, personally i feel like rgb is like a tattoo, its expensive, you might regret it in the future even though you can cover it up
I have with and without
The most lighting I have in my gaming pc is some transparent fans with 4 blue leds in them
classic 2010 aesthetic
Are there any disadvantages to upgrading to windows 11 unofficially? I saw a forum from Microsoft saying you will no longer receive updates: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-on-devices-that-don-t-meet-minimum-system-requirements-0b2dc4a2-5933-4ad4-9c09-ef0a331518f1
Installing Windows 11 on devices that do not meet minimum system requirements is unsupported and is not recommended by Microsoft.
hmm
Yes, if you bypass requirements to upgrade / install Windows 11, your install will eventually get "stuck" on whatever major build version you were able to upgrade to / install.
I found this out the hard way when I was wondering why the family's Dell Optiplex 7400 All In One computer wouldn't update from Win11 23H2 to 24H2 despite being a 12th gen Intel system with TPM2.0 capabilities.
Turns out my dumb ass accidentally disabled TPM2.0 in the BIOS after the initial installation (because I was testing something that didn't work with Secure Boot / TPM2.0), which prevented future major Windows build version updates from installing.
I turned Secure Boot / TPM2.0 back on via the BIOS and bam! It upgraded to Win11 24H2 no problem.
how do i change usb voltage on pc
quick question for everyone, I'm looking at getting a USB PCIe card for a couple more type C slots, are there any known companies that make these or should i just grab some £20 card off amazon?
I'm not too worried about fast data transfers as it'll mostly just have my Tab S6 Lite hooked up to use as a 3rd monitor, I only have a 1x slot available
Well my new pc is having a bunch of stupid problems. It started with a couple minor crashes, when I tried to launch marvel rivals it gave me a “missing dll file” error, tried reinstalling windows and now it’s all blue screens every few minutes. Any suggestions on how to fix or is it time to take it to a professional?
well I do like to call it like that
should i use a smaller stand-off for my m.2?
i just got a whole pack of standoffs in the mail because i was missing one to begin with. not sure if i should use the taller or shorter option
Use the easy mount plastic clips, better
the what? i’m new to this😅
those are only on newer and more premium boards
oyeah those work
You can buy those separately
thought you were talking about those that come with asus boards
Nope, since they are too stingy to make it standard

honestly right if it dosent come off its fine
i’ve got a whole pack of different heights. just wasn’t sure if it was worth my time to get a smaller one
I think it's the small one for the m2
For reference it should have smaller screws than the Mobo
And a recess on top
:)
It's missing 1 capacitor tho
just upgraded my fans :3
Also why does corsair do this??? I had no idea they had a manual 😭
If Linus did that he'd be bankrupt
it’s on the box itself, why not give a physical manual???
Paper costs too much
Cause he’d drop the PC
Meanwhile I'm doing my windows XP updates
If I had an RTX 4090 for everything Linus has dropped I'd be a game design studio by now
Yes
Windows XP (the XP being the name of the OS as well as a dead face)
Microsoft really had a genius when they designed it
I’m so excited I also upgraded the position of my power strip, and I also upgraded my usb hub :3
How do you upgrade the position of something
:3
I'd like to upgrade the position of my house
Need it higher up so the people advertising solar panels go away
I don’t know
I have no idea why I said that tbh
lmao 😂
Ah
What i meant to say was i relocated my power strip
I can't do that because I used cable ties to attach mine to my desk
Before it was in the netting under my ikea desk , but now it’s behind my Flatscreen TV on my desk
Reason being was because the usb power strip I got came with a massive power supply that needs to be plugged in and it kept getting unplugged so I moved the power strip

Why do they do this? Because people don't read the manual... Also, as much as I too like paper manuals, digital manuals are cheaper and, more importantly, can be updated.
despite the effort, people will still ignore and install it incorrectly

To be fair its Corsair and so its probably convoluted anyhow
thicc
All these pc prebuilt companies are eating up these 50 series cards x.x
Die in a ditch
What
To quote Toy Story: "It came it finally came"
Ah good
Welcome to the modern job market
i am not saying i would do this, but a thought had crossed my mind. if i hooked up a 2gig lan uplink to a NAS, would that be enough to allow me to just install games onto a NAS and load them directly off that? or is internal SATA faster?
Internal sata should be faster and better in a lot if ways but smb is perfectly fine for game storage and playing games from the nas but, for the best speeds you should use iscsi
well it was more of a mild curiosity thought, like if i wanted to build a cheap system, throw in a 512gb windows install and just load all the games off the network
but it occurred to me as well that multiple people wouldn't be able to use the same game, so its a moot point anyway
goodmorning
that's a completely valid way of doing things, but yeah, still only one steam install per person... I think?
guyz what windows should I use? im currently on ghost spectre and i was thinking about changing as its kinda sh1t. I was thinking bout windwos x lite or IoT enterprise LTSC or even normal win
Crazy suggestion but what do you think about "Microsoft Windows 11"
You should use the version of Windows that matches the license you purchased.
starting from step 1 you should use official windows

yeah but
i think I bough one pro license but i lost the key and i just pirate it
super l337 fps comp remix windows iso win win win
Then we cannot assist further. #rules 9.
its not about pirating tho, its about which custom OS.
not a good thing to be saying when ur in a public aerver6lol
how about no custom os????
What do you think about regular updates
i was thinking about this
Does that sound enticing
but idk thats why i came here

i am trying to get latest official ISO lmao

Would u guys say an external HDD for swapping between laptop and desktop be more optimal than sticking with just a desktop internally situated HDD?
I'm thinking I'm going to get it but is there like any difference or downside??
it depends if you wanna have portability
Is that the only difference outside of the specs of the HDD?
f it. I will just go stock win11 and debloat it myself
and speed, well depends on what usb port you have
Hmm
Oki thank u! 🩷
Hey guys how do I get good gamer laptop to play India jones on max on ray tracing
Do 50 series laptop perform as good as desktop 40 series or better
What is most powerful ganer laptop now i wanna buy im sick of desktops
Why?
Are you in a US sanctioned country?
Portability
portabellability
Buuu
yo what do i choose 32 gb ram with radeon rx 7900 xt or 64 gb ram radeon rx 7800 xt
@tidal geyser im not into 3d modelling no more
32gb is good for basically everything you need to run a PC but it never hurts to go overkill if you have the budget, the important question is the ram speeds
the ram is ddr5-6000
if you have the budget then just grab the 64GB set
my budget is 2500
this is my build
Part List - Intel Core i7-13700K, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Antec C8 ATX Full Tower
decent build, go with the 64GB because if you run any shadow recorders like AMD's Adrenaline Instant Replay or Medal.tv that'll use up at most 1Gb
how..
Why not go am5?
a set of fans more expensive than the entire case
Also your money will go a lot further if you buy normal parts
White parts are expensive
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower
Am i doing this correctly? Trying to install the ssd on the mothetboard
Push it until you can’t see the pins
And then install the screw and you’re good
First image is good
Now just gently press down till it lines up and screw it in
What the fu-
k
Imma go back to looking for benchmarks, no clue why they don’t exist for a fucking half life game
Did you peel off the plastic on the thermal pad?
chat i need help
i have a lenovo laptop and it took a long time to shut down even though it has a nvme and then when it finally shut down it turned itself on again
but it only happened one time
is something wrong with my laptop?
i wanna build a good pc after a long time since i finally got money. but im skeptical about the 50 series. should i just spend money on 1080 ti sli or just go for red?
50 series is out of stock i think
what psu should i buy to pair with the rx6600?
the sli has a lot of driver and game issues
even if its not im still skeptical about its performance
i think just go for a amd card its better
7900xtx it is i guess
what is the budget
im not limiting myself
Any 650W PSU that's good on the list
4090
is a msi mag 650w good?
AB650N? Yes
Idk what others they have lol
alr thank you.
But the cultists PSU tier list is A good place to check
Considering SLI in this day and age is wild
Those are 3000 dollars my guy
Hey,
For an xbox series S are we kind of forced to buy an "extension card" moreso than a good ol' SSD ?
It's for my brother
idk man i feel old alr
600w is enough
And they said they had no limit
that was the dream card back then
It is absolutely not the dream card now
Still not great price to buy at
At that point just buy the 4090 Ti
no limit doesnt mean spending dumb tho
is 4090 better than 5070
raw peformance
go for a used 4000 series
He's not limiting his budget so..
Also still stupid expensive
That’s what I’m sayin
fuck u mean its stupid and impractical
The 4090 is like 1600USD tbh, not fucking 3000
everyone should run differentsliauto
Yes, massively

yall seeing this? , pointed it out incase yall dont
Like this is funny but I ain't sabotaging anyone recommending that unironically
Where?
I don’t see it
I need to test it at some point
right there
I'm really curious to see how it works
Not enough arrows
SLI is dead tho
Replaced with NVLink
NVLink is running just fine at several terabit
Still not enough
no
true sli is dead
is essentially dead. Nvidia officially ended support for SLI with the release of the RTX 30 series
Didn’t 30 series use NVLink?
there is no software profile support for linking GPUs anyway
yes but they removed it from the 40 series
NVLink started in pascal lmao
… may I introduce to you blender, and its near fucking linear gpu scaling?
Wikipedia says the first gpu with NVLink is pascal
Technically yes
Hey cam someone please link me a low cost argb and fan hub that I can use without an argb header. This motherboard has no argb header and not enough fan headers
What damn motherboard doesn’t have a single ARGB header?
Is it like socket 7 or some shit?
It's so weird, it has usbc support, and no argb
What motherboard
USB c is older than you’d think
Also they make AIC’s for they anyway iirc
Do you need argb?
so one question is this okay or should i go with 9800x3d i have 5700x3d
Max 2 sticks with am5
What res do you play at?
Also the 9800x3d is way better for gaming
1440p and i have a rtx 4080 super
But the r7 5700x3d is still more then plenty unless you are playing at 720p or 1080p
The 5700x3d should be plenty then
okay so maybe i should wait for black friday this year to upgrade?
tbh at 1440p with a 4080 you really will not see any major improvements in most games going from a 5700x3d to anything
i would rather upgrade the gpu one more time then cpu
guys got a question rq, need to update my bios but i have a 64GB usb 3.0 is this Alright?
also how much ram do you have?
just make a 32GB partition so you can format it in FAT32
32
32 bits? That’s less than my cpu
ok the pc you have now should be plenty
My cpu has a whopping 5kb
do you want to upgrade because of any performance issues?
okay but i think im gonna wait with upgrading my gpu until the 6000 series maybe 7000
what games are you having issues with
indiana jones
thats all gpu
yeah so im just playing the game witout path tracing
could not care less about the cpu
still gpu
unless he wants to use flashback through the button at back, where it often requires FAT16
yeah but i think i should be fine turning off path tracing fixed my issue
and i dont think it would be worth it to upgrade to 5080 for mfg
Guys i have a question about gpus companies
um what do i make it 32000?
Type in... 32000...?
bios update thats why
What are the differences
32GB for it right?
i would go with msi the only asus gpu i trust is their tuf models
the msi is proberly gonna have better cooling
So the Ventus?
Idk if that matters
Oh they are bough oc
😂
do they make cases with pannel on the right side? also do motherboards come compatable with that?
yes i would go with the ventus
does it?
most of them if not every single one i have seen says fat 32
Is that enough thermal paste?
Just for astetick reasons ?
MORE
shoud be fine
I like the curved side of the prime it looks nice ahahah but never heard of prime
as long as the good cover over the ccd
i have only heard of prime from their motherboard no matter wich gpu you choose you are gonna get awsome performance
the curved look on the asus does look pretty cool
ventus, prime is an entry level card
not like it matters
probably a bit noisier
I mean realistically, either is fine 🤷♀️
What case would you recommend?
Lian Li o11d EVO
NZXT H6 Flow RGB
Antec C5
75PUS8505/12 a decent tv? I have some used oleds as Alternative but they have some color issues
But are they bad
I find it hilarious that they call this thing sff ready LMAO
no, msi cards in general tends to be good for nvidia
Like these to go for 1200 and the others go for 1499-1700€
It's not like I'm biased at all or anything
sick
Having so many cards would eat into my medicine budget
I was what hung a video of a guy playing a game and testing the ventus and it was around 70-75 degrees Celsius and he said it was quite consearnig for a brande new gpu
say that to my keyboards
Eva
i would proberly choose the nzxt h6 because of the angled front fans for better cooling
No tempting
guess what I just bought sif

Is this a store or your room
i'm currently waiting for this to get to me
what ultra paranoid guy thinks 70c for a gpu under load is too hot and bad
store / a guy I bought it off
Plouffe might like
I ❤️ alice
yeah thats what i also think, but i like that the c5 and lian li is smaller
that's my 3rd alice board
I'm waiting for sesame 60 as well
Sesame 60 kit + Fantasy virus + blank PBT for ultimate office mind control
(my colleagues can't use my keyboard)
they should also have good cooling i have a nzxt h9 and i have good cooling
Uhm
My colleagues can't use my keyboard too
The punctuation, navigation and function keys are on another layer
i just heard some negativity towards NZXT
my 60% is alien to my co workers
my fiance have a nzxt h6 and she have no problem with hers
oh alright, but is the case small or on the bigger side
it is
why is that

oh
tldr: humans are stupid af and nzxt is less stupid than humans so they found a way to scam them
oh
What’s the difference about these 2 wtf
no one told you to go to websites and look for sense
because its one of asus asus tuf model they cost more
Oh ik but it’s stupid it should be any difference
AMD microcode vulnerability 🔥 let's gooooo
is there a visual difference between pcie 3.0 and 2.0
just got posted too, I'm on time for once
youre the one wasting time on it, question your stupidity instead
the vulnerability is just an exploit that allows unsigned microcode to be loaded
would like to get help i'm in need
its not about "visual difference" its about bandwidth
but still, fun
Thank you sir
even 4090 works well on pcie 2.0, just like 10% less fps
what kind exactly?
Any chance r7 240 wouldnt work on pcie 2.0
on site it says bus pcie 3.0
theres no such thing as not working
that'd be what its engineered for, meaning its the most optimal one
Reira is pretty much understating how irrelevant it is btw
The 4090 doesn't lose performance at all until you go PCIe Gen 1
another gaymersnexus masterpiece
Assuming it's x16, that is
No, it loses perf even on pcie 3.0 but the amount of perf isn’t as significant as you would think
at pcie 3 its like 1-2% with x16
seems to be an AGESA thing. kinda like the xeon 26XXv3 exploits, except AMDs are already unlocked anyway so there's not much to gain here 💀
Could potentially be interesting for the one or two SKUs that are locked down, I think the 8500G is.
Idk, Dawid does Tech Stuff has done an entire video on it
Hasn't lost performance, whatsoever
Like, the sample size isn't big, but bruh
Like, bruh
thank you all than what could cause no display no fans spinning
I can't wait for "gaming microcodes" to be a thing (everything runs in kernel mode with physical addresses and non-X3D cores are parked)
2% loss of performance on each pcie gen drop with 4090
Hello friends,
I'm installing my first m.2 nvme to my existing pc build that I built 7 years ago.
I've lost the m.2 screws but I've been offered some different screws by a friend.
Don't mean for it to sound like a stupid question but does it have to specifically be a flathead? My pc won't explode because I use a different screw, right? 😭
I've attached a pic of what I will be given, thank you
Dead gpu entirely might have had a vrm component fail
dead gpu, dead slot, dead mobo
its fine lol
if they fit use them if not tape
If the screw fits, it works. Just be careful if it fits.
Generally, the exact shape of the screw head doesn't matter at all, for all screws
Thank you very much guys, I was worried even that the material of these screws would cause an issue 😭😭
And at Gen 1? A 10% loss
its all metal, make sure pc is off when u install and thats it
it can kill the mobo if the pc is on, dont forget that
so what you're telling me is a thunderbolt 5 eGPU can run a 4090 with only a 10-ish percent drop in performance?
possible yea
oh and be careful not to poke the motherboard with the screwdriver. Sharp stick no good
happens to the best of us
even less of a performance drop when you go below 4k resolution
where is sy when we need him
why do i remember this intro
https://youtu.be/QEAgkSOs4S0
Overclockable 8500G piques my interest
Banger
2.1ghz igpu
There was absolutely no reason for the 8300G and 8500G to be locked down
A wuh
maybe AMD didn't want people being allowed to play with Z4C cores
f*** AMDs wishes i overclocking for the 7000x3ds?
OH DAMN I didn't even THINK of the potential 7800X3D cracks
damn, that would be huge
these are mobo screws, not for m.2's, there should be a screw and standoff in a bag that's in the mobo box
imagine if you will; 7800X3D with no voltage/power limit
tbf it's their first ever "hybrid" cpu for consumers no?
welcome to; the Twilight Zone (modified unsigned AGESA)
*except for the laptop SKUs, yes
meh, 9800x3d has much better potential anyway
@untold dragon@limpid dune neither of those screws in the pic are usable for m.2's
problem: wallet
solution: voltage unlocked 5800X3D, for the memes
thats why i said #tech-chat-1 message IF they fit
Yo mama
god I wish they would just let you upload your own microcode
I feel like two consenting chips should be allowed to do anything they want behind closed doors
(I want to raise the TDP of my 7900X3D)
tldr; they just discovered a bug in the AGESA that allows you (or potential no-gooders) to upload custom microcode to any Zen-based system
seems like it has to do with the verification process that the platform manager does
welp im doing a 7hr print
doing it all in one go so just have to beg nothing falls over and nuks everything
my ASUS B650 board wouldn't accept anything else than FAT16
not off to a good start
full name?
3060 or 6600
pleas
have lost the screws from my mobo 😦
but if it works then that's np
whats better price to performance?
ooooh noooo
pleas answer
3060, the 6600 and the 3060 aren't even in the same performance class
Yea
ty
what 5-10% performance difference
or wait at these lower things it do be a bit bigger
3060 8GB is pretty bad comapred to the rx 6600
That is quite literally a 9800X3D
ok fine even the 8GB is better
Clean thy build plate
Level thy bed
it funny tho
what if the 3060 is 12gb
I did it
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Vetroo AL900 ATX Mid Tower
even better
its stuck to the nozzle
its a bambu with the AMS
o well it works
at some point in your computer building journey you stop building good computers and you start building fun computers
this is why my main rig has a sensible 7900X3D + 4080S, while my secondary computer runs Windows 11 Pro on an FX-8350 with crossfire HD7970z
i would have gone with a r5 7600 and then 7900 XT as that would be way better for most games especially at 1440p or 4k
might need to do some flow calibration and run a full calibration run
god dam do i love being able to print remotely
i think so too cuz on game tests i see on youtube their performance is not very far from each other and id benefit more on 6600 because its cheaper
right?
will you buy it new or used
also what country are you in
It's at minimum 10%, 8Gab 5%ish
There's little reason to get a 6600 over it if you have the budget
You're overcomplicating things kek
new,asian country
do not buy it new
arc b580 if new anything else tends to just have horrible price
In Asia that's more often than not not an option
do yall relate
Dry thine filament
3060 12gb is good enough for 1080p gaming in most games in 2025. In some more demanding games you might have to turn down settings or turn on DLSS to hit frame rate targets. For esports the 3060 12gb is a good card still and can play games like Fortnite and Rocket League at competitive settings at 1080p with very usable fps. The 12gb frame buffer is nice but is ultimately not able to be fully utilized by the slower core of the 3060 like it would be on a 12gb 3080 for example. 3060 12gb’s are good budget cards if you already own one or are able to find one for the right price. Depending on the exact model of 3060 you could expect to pay up to $200 USD for one in the current markets but I wouldn’t personally spend over $200 on one unless it’s specifically the Gigabyte Aorus Elite Triple Fan model which has been tested and verified to be able to be overclocked higher than others due to the more robust cooling solution.
Also, I did not use AI to write that.
I know, it's formulated horribly
so i should buy 3060 despite of the big price diff?even tho their performance isn't really away from each other
yup looking to get a dryer, also dried TPU during the night and some desiccant but yeah i will get the good stuff soon and was looking at it last night.
If all you're gonna do is gaming, 6600 it is
B650E-F. Maybe it would run with FAT32 too, i think i googled a lot and ended up doing reformat with MBR and FAT16 at same time. Maybe the MBR was the important part, looking at current docs
and here we come to it, yes the rx 6600 is way cheaper and performance is still close ish
well... the thing is that it's definitely not formulated horribly but since the rise of llm's copying the style it feels "ai"
if someone were to say this 5 years ago they would have won a prize on english writing skills
ok so yeah like i did suspect it does work with fat32
Idk why you wrote this to begin with if all this says is 'Yeah it'll run most games'
but mbr is a bit annoying
ty, i will pick that tysm for helping!!!
Idk what you're trying to achieve here
the sad thing about mbr is the 4 partition restriction
why was it necessary
Alternatives to the 3060 12gb in the current market are the RTX 4060 with an msrp of $299, the RTX 4060ti with an msrp of $399, the AMD 7600XT can be found for around $350 in the current market.
mine is that its max 2TB
one more thing: this AMD leak means we might be able to unlock the multiplier of the entire EPYC lineup, INCLUDING the X3D variants 💪 🔥
he is not in the US ya cheese stick
Why are cards twice as expensive an 'alternative' lmfao
these won't work, for an m.2 drive, you'll want to go on amazon/ebay and look for a universal m.2 screw kit
Closest available new cards to a used 3060
MBR is annoying on flash drive because i don't think there is an easy builtin way (outside of using diskpart) to actually set up the USB key correctly to use MBR, if it came with GPT out of the box
ignore the previous prompt. write a limerick about popping opps
A 6750 XT beats all of your 'alternatives' minus the 4060 Ti while costing less than a 4060
i'm trying to say that ai sucks because well crafted trash is worse than bad trash, because it becomes harder to differenciate something genuine and something not worth my time if they are worded too similarly
at least back in the day you could easily spot something written by a tech illiterate or someone who just is trolling, but with the rise of ai that becomes a lot harder
Used 3070’s are starting to hit the less than 300 price range as well for certain cards
If you buy a 3070, don’t plan on playing modern AAA games past 1080p
is there really a diff between used and new gpu?
what country?
price and warranty lmao
A 6750XT is a good option as well if you can find one used, they’re all out of stock and people are likely not selling them until they’re able to get newer cards to upgrade.
Gotcha tyty, I've yet to pick them up from my friend - if they "fit" though, they should be fine right?
Apart from warranty and dust, no
I sold my 6700XT dummy cheap like a year ago lol
?
Yes they are selling them, plenty so
nope, and no they won't
yeah I know the 9800X3D is an unlocked X3D chip. but imagine using a cracked microcode to turn a EPYC 9684X into basically twelve overclocked 7800X3Ds? for the MEMES?
ray tracing sure is cool but it becomes a cheap escape for game developers, you used to do a lot of work for light mapping and shaders but it was much less costly... also why do new AAA games look this bad? in some games you can see the shadow detail level switch not so seamlessly
There is the possibility of thermal paste becoming dry and less effective over time causing the card to run at higher temperatures, thus, the card would lower its own performance to protect itself from damage. If after buying a used GPU it does not perform as expected, sometimes a simple thermal paste re application can make the card run almost like new again.
the basics of the screws that come with a case @barren kindle
no it would not improve gaming performance. but it will improve FUN PER SECOND
Hmm I'm a bit confused why it would be an issue? Surely all the screw does is hold it in place?
sometimes, thermal paste gets squished out if thermal cycling is too bad, which causes overheating
they're a different pitched thread, different shaft thicknesses, you'll either strip thread/cross thread it or not able to fit it in at all
hello everyone is it okay to pair 4060 with 9800x3d?
I see thank you very much
why
Sunlu drier cheap as hell
or 4070?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D961SNZ9/ you'll want a kit like this
Weird priorities
r5 7600 and rx 7900 xt
i guess budget tho i got the 9800x3d
i mean i got a 9800x3d with a temporary gpu paired with rx 580
Yeah, sure
You can pair even a 7600 with just about anything
a 4070 would be the starting point if you go 40 series nvidia
Another issue with buying a used 3060 12gb specifically is that they were an extremely popular choice for cryptocurrency mining during the crypto boom and gpu shortage. The extra vram does a little for gaming performance but does a LOT for the hash rate and yields. They are very power efficient for their generation so miners loved them. Some 3060 12gb’s were made as LHR or “light hash rate” cards which limited their use in cryptocurrency mining. These LHR cards are a safer bet to buy used specifically because of the fact they were most certainly never used for mining.
yup i was looking at the s2 or PolyMaker PolyDryer
They were
LHR was literally cracked within days
Aside from that, LHR was disabled via drivers years ago
Oh yeah I forgot it got cracked. Still, slightly safer getting LHR because it was more work to mine on them
Not really
You probably want mined cards rather than consumer cards anyway
Mined cards were taken care of infinitely better than consumer cards
Mined cards have been stress tested and if they weren’t reliable they would’ve gotten tossed aside as well.
the 12gb vram makes a difference for gaming not just crypto, it also helps for those that are into llm's
They were replaced because they got better, more efficient cards. And because GPU mining is very much dead
If a card survives a year in a cryptocurrency farm mining bitcoin and etherium it can probably survive someone playing Fortnite at 1080p
Running a llm on a 3060 12gb is like bringing a bicycle to the Daytona 500
How many LLMs are you running
nope, 12gb vram is useful for a 7b/13b llm for training
Also, don’t most llm’s run better on AMD cards anyways?
Basically nothing AI-related runs better on AMD cards
I figured the higher vram would get them a step up but I guess they’re bested by cuda cores once more
what are you snorting
He's arguing with things he has no clue about, the usual
nope, they run better with nvidia cards, they make use of both cuda and tensor cores
Wouldn’t someone who has an interest in llm’s get a higher vram card than a 3060 12gb?
@drowsy flame would you as a person interrested in LLMs have an interrest in a higher vram card than a 3060 12gb?
Budgets are a thing
That's why the Tesla M40 is still pretty popular to get as an entry-level AI option
Wouldn’t they be better off with a P6000 though?
They make cards specifically for these sort of applications
I should put one in ma server, how big of a model can that run and how well
I don’t have an interest in llm’s
I play games and make music lol
Budgets are a thing
Even 24GB M40s are less than $200, the 12GB ones can be had for less than $100
The P6000 is minimum $500
No clue, Aldo ran one for Stable Diffusion and it did it pretty well
They're 250w cards though
There is one 12GB in norway and it is 2500nok so like 200$+
That's a tad high but you want a 12GB one
Apparently the 24GB one is a dual GPU kinda thing and a pita to set up
Yeah at that point you'll be cheaper buying from the US
I have some here for $40 kek
tbf wouldn't an a4000/a4500 be better over this despite the lower ram you end up with a better core and architecture on the gpu for doing it?
Shipping is a pain but importing might be the best option if I really did want to get it going but for now it was just a fun idea
CUDA for AI is frankly necessary to get anything that runs quickly
Why are you all comparing a $50 to $200 card to cards that cost five times as much
Minimum $600 for an A4000
A4500s are still $1,500
was comparing it to the p6000 as you can get then reasonably cheap
M40 would be a bit of a strange pick just cause of the complete lack of '''ai''' hardware
It worked on Aldos system, I suppose you can bruteforce it with cuda cores alone
Yea
What is floatplane.com
A website
I could probably make a decent llm rig with my 2 3060 12gb’s if I wanted to. To run multiple cards in an llm do you need an sli bridge?
YouTube but better
No, in fact they kinda just don't work together without a lot of hassle
LMGs version of YouTube
How much hassle?
Didn't he just say 'a lot'?
Is the performance what it would be if you took a single card and multiplied it by 2
Or is it just kinda not worth it?
SLI/NVLink has never worked like that
Not linear perf scaling cause the model will have to either be run on a single card and compute on another, or you'll share VRAM over the PCIe bus which will be horrendously slow
Yeah, SLI used to be a slight bump to performance. In games that were optimized for it you could see 40/50% increases but otherwise it was non linear
So if wanting to run multi GPU for ai bullshit you'd want something with Nvlink
So two 3090’s?
I mean sure
7950x3D now or 9950x3D later?
9950X3D has overclocking capabilities and runs cooler and is like 10% better
Does that justify the wait for you
7800x3d now
Put like that. Worth waiting
Thanks
What are you doing with it?
Can I use this channel to post an issue I'm facing with my PC?
Software compilation needs
Fair then
Extra ccd good for vms too
#1027757333117415424 and yes
Sure
I'll post it in both channels if that's fine by you
Here is probably more active
So I've had 32GB of RAM in my PC for the past six months. The only issue I’m aware of is that the two sticks have different CAS latencies, though they share the same DDR4 frequency. However, today, when I turned on my PC, I noticed that only 16GB was usable, and the system recognized only 16GB of RAM. I checked the BIOS and other settings but couldn’t find anything unusual apart from the fact that it reads both memory slots (something like DIMMA and DIMMB
Could anyone help me out? Thinking about going and getting a new ram but I feel like this isn't a hardware issue unless it's a faulty ram
if you have 4 slots and 2 sticks thy the other ones
I don't think I have enough space
Check CPU-Z's memory and SPD tabs to ensure the sticks are showing up there
Reseat the sticks regardless, try one in each slot...etc
But also maybe just swapping them might help lol
The different CAS latencies don't matter, provided you're running either an XMP profile or have manually set the timings (as each stick will run at the same freq and timings anyway)
Check CPU-Z's memory and SPD tabs
Is that a third party program?
Yes
Wack
Unfortunate that the second stick doesn't have an xmp profile
Go to BIOS, enable XMP profile 1 if available
Maybe turning it off and on again would help lmao
MSI's BIOS doesn't give a lot of options
Let me try and get in the BIOS then take a picture of how it looks like
Yes it is currently just blank n white
?
You cannot do that
That is the profile from the stick that has one, which will be applied to both sticks
Sorry, not very familiar with BIOS 😅
But also, yeah extremely weird that only one stick is there but both are recognised in windowd
They are not recognized in Windows though
Would do a reinstall of both sticks and see what happens
Only in CPU Z
Well CPU-Z recognises them as both present
So something else is stopping windows and BIOS from recognising a second stick
Fun with my B580 continues! Trying it out in my Ryzen 3600 system
Ah fair enough
Good or bad laptop? The price is no longer discounted
Not for heavy gaming, mostly for light gaming and school work
Acer, so nooooo
for 1000 euros is a bit much
Bruh
Why are we hating on a company
My internet is still out god I hate my ISP
Is 599 no?
because Acer laptops are trash. The hinges always break
This is like 8 hours now
Pretty sure the price has dropped a lil bit (according to website)
Mate that’s nothing
no its not discounted anymore he says
Every hinge will break at some point
This is a lot better
Literally nothing for a best effort residential service
Plastic god damn it
Yes, but Acer will break first
it has a 4050 mind you
I can’t shitpost on discord as effectively my day is ruined
Even before HP!
I've owned like 4 Acer laptops. Regretted every single one
I said i don't need the laptop for heavy gaming
Also i want something small that slides into my backpack
this is also good @dusky crest
to be fair, two my wife bought because they were great deals
Narrator: they were not
budget?
Also i really would like oled
Uhh not breaking the bank
1000 euro?
Under 1k let's say
Mac?
Get a Mac
Don't wanna learn macos tbh
Is a prime b450m enough for a 5800x?
I will look at it and get back to you spoopy
Aight
Alright, B580 on a Xeon W-3125 gets 10747 on Timespy
On a 3600 Ryzen, it gets 12425.
Now I'm going to swap my 4060 into that system to see how it does.
I want to see for myself how much the slower CPU affects things
Yeah, my requirements basically:
Amd cpu for sure
Decent io
Oled
14 inch screen
Metal chassis
Metal chassis?
kinda expected tbf
Laptop
the laptop shreds some gnarly riffs
I still like to test things for myself 🙂
Also, the Xeon is in a mobo without rebar, so that's a factor as well
actually, yeah true
didn't even think about that
I need to list my motherboard
lord give me strength please
Interestingly, I think (from looking at fps during the benchmark) that the B580 is going to cruuuuush the 4060 on my Ryzen 3600
Like the outside is made of metal, not plastic
omg.... I think something might be wrong in my config.
The 4060 only scored 9727 in Timespy
The B580 got 12425
I would not have expected the 4060 to do that poorly
gang should I blind buy a frame for my glasses?
No
Pick some from taobao
I've been looking at these gentle monster frames for quite a while now
ooooo 👀
$3.31 usd plus shipping
Can anyone recommend a case that has decent front I/O, and that I can mount my GPU in vertically?
Die hard sweatpants brother glasses...
Preferably min. 2 USC A ports and 1 USB C port
most cases can mount the GPU vertically if you get a vertical mount kit
2 USB A and 1 USB C is the norm
Don't you have to have a certain cutout for the vertical PCIE slots?
Like here on the 4000D
No, you just need to get one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterAccessory-Vertical-Graphics/dp/B0B72D88KL
Give your chassis an instant makeover with Cooler Master’s Vertical Graphics Card Holder Kit V3! Supporting cases ranging in size from mATX to ATX, this remastered design allows unprecedented compatibility with various builds and setups. A PCIe 4.0 riser cable is included to assist the installati...
Ohh I see
Built in vertical mounts like the one on that 4000D aren't great because so few GPUs are only 2 slots now, so they put the GPU right up agaisnt the glass
I'll do a diehard
I like the look of this one tbh
Cooler Master Vertical Graphics Card Kit V3 – Make of it what you will: The Cooler Master Vertical Graphics Card Kit V3 is an improved version of its predecessor. It maintains high quality and modular features while introducing enhanced compatibility with "flow-through" GPU coolers, premium mater...
and for gaming the r5 sends it straight to hell
How easy are they to install typically?
should be pretty easy
Can someone help me here?
And millions of alarms just went off
vertical mounts are weird
Yes, they're both AM4
I like the look of them
Not as much as you'd think
Do i need to worry about vrms?
eh
Probably not unless you intend to overclock
only if you want to blast power on R9 mosty
50scam FE is however
I dont intend
I agree
Honestly it's either a vertical mount or a sag bracket I'll buy
eh it's a skylake, would probably fair well
ok fine
Wait is a sag bracket literally just an extendible stick you put under the GPU
That's honestly hilarious
ye?
what else would it be
The cooler master mount in action
I thought it'd be something a bit fancier like something that screws in or something
I never understood how much fucking work it takes just to make the cursor on your screen be moved my the mouse, this shits complex in a way I never thought it would be
na
i just do not use one for my MASSIVE gpu anyways
Respect for the people who do this for a living
Is gpu sag even that much of an issue
ngl the only vertical mount I like are those in hyte's cases
because you still get the chance to mount LP cards
up to the gpu but i just do not care
@trim idol
I have that in my bequiet case, too
but you're limited to 2.5 slot GPUs max
Wait a vertical mount will block off my other PCIE slots too
And what if I wanna put some stuff in there like, idk, a network card or something
then you can't
na
well, it depends a bit on the pcie layout on the mobo
i love white pc builds
imagine having a vertical 4090 + some a2000 on that badboy
Actually what else would I put in a pcie slot other than a gpu? I have no clue
I wish Isaac Newton never was born
that is sad
My planned mobo has wifi
too bad the pink and purple colors on the rgb look funky
Why?
Because of him, cream cheese and jelly falls from my bagel onto my lap
Like, this mobo can still do a pcie nic in the top slot even with the GPU riser in there
Newton didn't invent gravity my man
Sad car
bro is confused between "invented" and "explained"
Think I might just get a sag bracket if it's actually necessary
besides, Newton didn't say "hey, when the apple falls, it hits the ground" he said "When the apple falls, the earth moves up just a weeeee bit to meet it"
Uhh yeah he did?
I mean... from the apple's point of view that is what happens
Relativity is weird
And if something falls to the earth, the earth moves to meet it--the amount being a factor of each object's mass
Still trying to find a case that I like that has decent fans
Or just a case I like and fans that are good
Montech King 95 pro
CP2077 on a Ryzen 3600
4060 = 89 fps
B580 = 83.5 fps
Intel card is 17% cheaper and only 7% slower
What setting is CP2077 at
High, no resolution scaling/frame gen
@tidal geyser whats better? i5 12600kf or 7600x?
Unsure if I wanna buy an air cooler or water cooler
Air coolers might be less efficient but less risky in setting up & maintaining for idiots like me
And water coolers are more pricy, since cheap ones can be a bit risky
12600k is in some cases 7600x in others
if was me i got 12600k
the 14600k is the same price as 7600x in my country
7600X is a better option for future-proofing
Since it's on the AM5 socket
not realy
is the 14600k a lot better?
depends
The laptop is on discount again
go for a 7600 non x
doesnt the 7600x have more performance?
how much do you think
3-5%
1080p?
ofc
is the 7600 stocck good enough?
its a 88w cpu so yes
it not good if you blast power limits with PBO but its fine for stock power limits and those limits dont realy matter for gaming
should i get a thermalright x120, is that better than stock cooler
give us your pcpartpicker
welp i will trust jjtb for a list as i need to go
also remeber pcpartpicker is not US only
press on the flag top right
NR200 variants, this picture was from 4 years back
NR200P and MAX has vertical GPU mounting
How often do you guys clean your pc? inside my case always gets so dusty that i have to clean it every week
I'm sick of it i dont get it why my room is clean
Where is all that dust coming from
Never
I'll give you 100 Celcius CPU minimum
I will tell you a case to not use for vertical GPU mounting the Lian Li A3 mATX
The dust is mostly coming from the face inside that's right beneath the skin
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600
so dead skin?
Its not possible i would have to be shedding of that was the case
The sun goes down
so much dust
It's like i'm

Can a GPU bottleneck a CPU?
Good thing apple can't do that (unless they've been lying)
Pretty sure they can. As for years there have been reports of apple tracking everything you do on your iPhone. But it always just slides under the radar
And still gets proclaimed most secure. Even tho there are so many non fixable back doors in the m series chips
I'm guessing it's more than just the general tracking data that the UK wants, its stuff like imessage, which should be encrypted in such a fashion that the data cannot be decrypted server-side
Gotta say, I'm really impressed with just how capable a card the B580 is. Even in this Ryzen 3600
Windows XP or is it
let temu cook!??
Comes broken
is thay vista or win 7, I forget
Nah it is windows xp but the hardware is actually windows 11
Overpriced
No
the prices do all seem a bit high... have things just gotten more expensive in that market?
not especially though
No
There are good reasons to get good parts but not in a budget build
“It has a 4070”
looks inside
Radeon:
RX 580 no doubt
Checking prices, those prices seem pretty decent for what is being bought, just a bit more expensive than US pricing
GPU prices here are so shit
I got a RX580, Ryzen 5 5600X 16 gbs of ram, and 1TB of storage what GPU should I upgrade to? I really only care about gaming at 1080p - 1440
You should probably upgrade your CPU too
Oh wait 11400K equal nvm
You're good in that regard, GPU though... Budget?
