What ever you buy, make sure to get new facial/back foam, you can get them from VRCOVER
ok
Vive Pro + Index controllers is a sweet combo
^ This would be one modification I'd suggest on any Vive headset. With the Index, I honestly prefer the stock foam over the fake leather from VRCover
Has been using for about a year with no problem. Vive wireless is a pain though
ok
True... Might send my adapter in for repair, as even with a fan strapped on it, it still does like to shut down on occasion. I feel like might might be broken or something...

Absolutely immaculate condition and in full working order. It has only been used a hand full of times.Selling because I simply don’t have the time to use it.RRP - £ 1,199,99Any questions please feel free to contact me.Thank you.
y tf is it in gbp
This one popped up, but it's in Pound Sterling, so probably shipping from the UK
That's international shipping for ya
also im not buying one rn also its 1 more hour
Even sending a Package from Germany to Fance cost me 18€...
dang
ok no way https://www.ebay.com/itm/334082772300?epid=8044705669&hash=item4dc8e28d4c:g:mAIAAOSw~sNg9fhU
oh i would also need base stations
Just the headset again. Controllers are another 300$ and lighthouses would be another 300
Well, you can also get the original Vive lighthouses still from HTC, which are sold at multiple electronics store still
how much
300$ for a pair of lighthouses and 300 for a pair of controllers (just as much as a pair of Index ones)
m
and the headset
thats so much
so the rift s REQUIRES a facebook account
period
For any Oculus headset you need to log in. For previous headsets like the Rift S, Rift CV1 and Quest 1, you can use a legacy Oculus account, but you can't create those any more. The only other option is a Facebook account
I did mention one last option earlier: Microsoft a while back tried to enter the VR market by offering the platform and tracking system as a cheap alternative. Multiple manufacturers then made the hardware based on the plattform: Windows Mixed Reality.
Just to name a few options in the WMR space:
- Lenovo Explorer
- Samsung Odyssey(+)
- HP VR 1000, Reverb G1, Reverb G2 (600$ new btw)
- Dell Visor
- Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset, Ojo 500
Well, there's the DecaGear, but until actual, independent reviews are out, I wouldn't get my hopes too high up...
are these all good and steam vr headsets?
Most of these WMR headsets are discontinued btw
Yup. To the point.
well then
WMR has it's own home environment, just like Oculus does, but with a plugin you can use them in SteamVR as well. Their tracking isn't the greatest, but for a budget option it's not too bad either. it's like a bottom of the barrel option and that is usually reflected in the price (exception being the 2 Reverb Headsets)
I got into VR thanks to a 200€ Lenovo Explorer back in 2018 (back when they were still sold new)
i may just hold off for now
i would use a oculus but
im just super against bad privacy
Yeah, if you wanna avoid Facebook, it's probably best to just save up until you can afford something higher end. It's the sad reality for VR right now, and I believe that in the long run Facebooks dominance is only going to hurt the industry...
ok i may save up for a index
Unless someone actually files a lawsuit for monopolistic behaviour by Facebook and splits out Oculus from Facebook...
or what is the best high end headset
There is no single best high end headset sadly
ok
The Vive Pro 2 almost made it, if it wasn't for it's rather glary lenses. The Index probably still is the best all-in-one-box option tho
Pimax I wouldn't recommend to a VR novice. Way too much tinkering required, and even then one just has to accept that certain parts of the experience aren't as great as they are on other headsets...
If you can, rather go new. Gives you the best chances of it it working long term, and if it fails early, you can rely on Steam Support to give you a quick and easy replacement
ok, thanks. if any new headsets come out of no where, i will message you about if they are worth it. Thanks for helping me!
No Problem ^^
I tried a microsoft hololens 2 yesterday
omg it's so freaking INSANE
(I have two VR headsets at home btw)
I want one so much
ar
Arrrr
The Varjo VR-3 is a high-end VR headset for business customers. It is available right now but this also shows us the future of VR for consumer products! The device features human-eye resolution displays (OLED), aspheric lenses (no godrays!), eye-tracking, hand-tracking and automatic IPD adjustment! In this video I will show you the device in det...
This system any good for VR. Price is in CAD. $1821 USD
I'd that system is comfortably within the recommended specs for VR.
Yeah but is it worth $1800+ USD
I think its a bit overpriced, tho, dont rely on my infos.
Hi im building a new pc for vr gameing and I just wanted to see other peoples opions on it I made a pc part picker list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fgLkYg
a bit overpriced
Hmm good information
That GPU might be a little under powered for more higher res headsets, but it should do fine for a start. Say, what headset do you plan to pair with this system?
Pimax 8k
What’s the best starter vr game
Super hot
Or job simulator
Once you played these you can get into more complicated ones, the thing is if you start with Boneworks for example you will struggle i think
tbh, the lab is a great start
its free aswell
also uh.. anyone know why i get screen tearing when the game im playing is the focused window
if its unfocused, runs fine
Also oculus first step or first Contact are very good tho they lest 30 min at most, but they get you introduced
as in the window if the game being highlighted
I used to have an issue as an early adopter of airlink where i would have to click on the steam vr pop-up for the games to run good
Try it
Just click the window and windows will put it as more important
hmm? the steamvr compositor?
The little window that open on a corner
yeah i need a fix without having to do that
a few games like dirt rally 2.0 pause the game if you unfocus the game window
yeah, it pauses dirt rally 2
hmm?
If have plenty of fixes for this kind of thing
Ok stick with me
In task manager you need to find steam vr
When you got it send me a picture
I don't have my pc rn
hold on a sec then
I used to have a lot of issue tho i have to say I'm all good
yeah
ive already made sure my mobo bios was updated, aswell as my gpu firmware, and gpu drivers
95% of the time it's about the communication between steam vr and the game
Also explain why airlink is not working sometimes well adds another layer
Anyway
Click the arrow on steam vr
To have the details
yeah
just steamvr status
as a quick note, everything is being run as administrator
i do mean everything, im logged in as administrator
so there shouldnt be any issue with permissions
so what now?
Have you started the game ?
i havnt
Do it then
Oh lol
Had that same issue on my Pimax 8k X. Never was able to fix it either. Have you tried turning off Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling?
I know how to fix it, for me at lest
was playing neos one day, nothing changed, and suddenly i was getting a weird screen tear/stutter
Turning that off fixed some stuttering issue I had on my VP2. In both cases it only appeared, when the framerate dropped below a certain point. On the Pimax it was 60fps and on the VP2 45fps...
Are you running the game on your headset ?
yeah
Steam vr says otherwise from what I know
Doesn't necessairly
Ok
You need to put steam vr and higher priority
huh? its running as admin
From what I understand, when HW-GPU_Scheduling is enabled, it can cause some issues with it confusing the process priority of VR applications and ends up rapitly moving the priority around. @bleak night, check if the GPU utilization jumps around a lot, even though the scene doesn't chang
I'm confused
Why does task manager looks different on my pc ?
I have access to more things
Win10 Pro vs home maybe?
Weird...
Me too
Have you OVR Toolkit installed?
Pro
i do
Check what it says about the GPU load
i can check on FPSVR
When I experienced the stuttering on my VP2, only OVR Toolkit showed weird behavior of the GPU where the utilization was jumping wildly anywhere from 100% down to as low as 11%...
Doesn't help. Windows does allocate the majority of resources automatically to the foreground window. What I think is happening is that the HW-GPU-Schedular get#s confused as to what the foreground application is (SteamVR being the background compositor can confuse a number of things)
I had stuttering because oculus sent notification overlapping steam taking all the piwer
98% usage smooth graph on gpu
Fr it worked for me
cpu 10% a little jumpy but expected
@bleak night, if you have this enabled, turn it off and see if it works better after a restart
Yeah, see if turning off helps ^^
il check
love how i get a bunch of cmd errors when restarting
a good sign for sure
Do you have saves on the game ?
i just started playing it yesterday so sorta?
@rapid otter, it's not like I don't believe your approach won't work, it's more that what you were trying to do is only helpful in a minute amount of cases, but can hurt performance in most others. For example, if you have a multiple NUMA-Node System, but the game isn't NUMA aware, that's when pinning a process to a specific amount of Threats can help, but usually it works against Windows's own process assignment system and can really mess up things. There's a reason that feature is only available in Pro.
Besides, Screen tearing (what Sylva has) is more of a low-level problem, whereas stutters can be both.
Honestly, if this didn't fix it, it's either a GPU-Driver thing, a PiTool thing or maybe even a firmware issue on the HMD itself...
Weird...
very
I understand your point, i just try to help by the ways that worked for me
oh wait
the pissmax doesnt see base stations yet
il seet it to 9axis for the moment
its very picky with base stations at times
Understandably so. I think the Pimax Headsets are some of the fewest sensor devices with Lighthouse tracking...
that fixed it
but new issue
i think the post processing is screwed
looking left, the brightess goes down by 50%
on both my monitor and hmd
I’m looking about games for a index
Looks more like the game has dynamic brightness scaling...
ETS 2 does a similar thing, but I feel like that game handles it more gracefully
But then again,. you're right. It does seem a bit excessive. Definetrly something from the engine, but quite extreme...
neos seems good
though im getting frametimes of nearly 20ms
well, 20ms jumps
and average at 17ms
i did find a new life hack for vr
put the pimax on top of my pc, it fits right over my external radiator fans
it preheats the headset to stop fog
Heh
Be careful to not pre-heat it too much. Apparently Pimax is still using the same plastics as with the original black casing models, just with a more resitive coating on it. And that plastic apparently has a relatively low melting point...
yeah its fine, the heat from the radiators is fairly low
I've seen a 5k Plus with melted plastic on the bottom. Just melted from the heat of it's own electronics
Then you should be fine. Just figured I'd tell you ^^
i need to play more boneworks still
Have you finished it ?
Damn i did it 5 times
i gotta recover my save still
its on my old install, that i copied to a folder on my hdd
aha found it
@bleak night ill give you a 100% completion file if you want :d
well if you do want to mess around with the sandbox afterwards i highly recommend modding it at least a little bit with Easy Menu and custom Player Model
yeah
custom player model will be a bit.. hard to do here id say
since if i used any model, its be the machibari i use
machibari?
I have a plethora of very high quality gun mods i can give you
Also i know a plugging that allows you to spawn any item in any game mode
But I'll give you everything one you finished it
Tho if @lofty minnow you want it tell me
i already have my library of mods
i got no mods here but i do need some
well start with the basics like easymenu and frameworks
also when i was referring to models i was referring to something more in the tone of bw
like this
ford but with gloves my favorite
or this
which basically removes your whole body except your hands just like in hla
tho im not a fan of this one cus it doesn't really have the bw feel to it if u ask me
Boneworks is a BLAST when you have mods installed, but ut can be a pain to figure out how to do so. Here is a video that shows you How to mod Boneworks in 2021.

This one worked for me
If i put melon loader 3.0
is the valve index worth it
im seeing that there are alot of problems
that people are saying they have had
Best all-in-one-box option. If you're willing to spend more, there are better options, but you'd have to buy things from different sources
Index Controllers are unbeaten in features tho
what do you reccomend for someone who will be using it for
10 hours a week
how fast would it become problematic
Probably not very fast
I've had my Index for over 2 years now, used it almost daily for a while, but not so much anymore. Still works like a charm
i was also thinking about waiting for the index 2, but that isnt even a guarantee
ok
Nobody knows when Valve is ever going to release an Index 2. Earliest date would be next year, but even then, nobody knows when
i mean i could buy out and get a htc vive/vive pro headset with the index controllers and base stations but...
is the vive pro 2 good?
or not worth it
Also, there'll always be "the next better thing". So if you'd wait for the Index 2, even though we still don't have any clear evidence of when it would possibly come, it's like never buying computer parts, because they are obsolete next year...
like my 2080 super (fun fact i got that the day of the 30 series release, i had ordered it a week earlier and picked it up the day of the 30 series launch)
I'd say the Vive Pro 2 has less lens glare themn the Index, but it's lens glare is more notable and distracting then the Index imo. If I had the choice between VP1 and VP2, and I could only choose one, I'd probably go for the VP1
ok
so would index controllers with a vp1 be good?
Absolutely. I have 6 headsets in my collection right now (yes 6) and the VP1 is currently my daily driver, with the other headsets only used for certain games/occasions
ok
but i also noticed the base stations arent sold separately, at least they have been sold out for a couple months now
wow
Both 1.0 and 2.0 lighthouses are sold at multiple retailers made by HTC. Valve also has their own 2.0 lighthouses, but they've been sold out for a while now, as they are still catching up with demand on the Full Kit
yeah
You can for example get HTC lighthouses from Amazon as an example
ok
They can also be had on the second hand market btw
Yup. The 1.0 lighthouses are cheaper and for 99% of use cases are absolutely enough
also does the vive pro have ANY problems
oh ok
oh wow, these are much cheaper https://www.ebay.com/itm/133827067118?hash=item1f28b6fcee:g:BPkAAOSwnXFgwBwL
The mic and headphones aren't the greatest in the world. They get the job done for the beginning, but my recommendation is to install an active Type-C to Headphone jack adapter and using a gaming headset on top, which can be connected with a 4-pole headphone jack
ok, i have a 3.5 millimeter audio jack headset, would that be good?
Just be aware that for full 360° roomscale, you're going to need 2 lighthouses
yeah i know
thanks though
ok so i think im going to buy my lighthouses from ebay, the headset on the vive website, and the controllers from steam
is that good?
Should be fine. If the mic connects with a seperate connection, you might need an adapter or use a headphone-jack adapter on the Vive that accepts to jacks, one for mic and one for audio. The one I have in my Vive has support for a single jack which carries both mic and audio
i wonder if facebook will make a pcvr headset ever again
nah
nope one cable
and do i need any mods?
Probably not. With how they've been acting, I can imagine that they'd even want to turn off the ability to use PCVR titles on the Quest actually...
because the portable vr scene is more popular due to not having to have a pc
it wouldn't make sense to turn off the ability to do that since they're developing airlink and released oculus link
whats the difference
also what is a good size room
The Type-C port is hidden under a flap on the VP1. One thing it doesn#t support is passive adapters, like the one included with your phone. You'd need to ensure the adapter you're buying has a DAC in it, aka is like a little USB device.
Other then that, one last recommendation that I have for the Vive Pro (just as much as any other Vive headset) is to get a facial interface replacement from vrcover.com
yikes
if you're worried about the index 2 releasing why not just buy the index 1 full kit now and get a new hmd when they release the 2nd one?
i decided not to get a index, just the controllers
1.0 Lighthouses have a flat front, 2.0s a curved one. The latter have a wider FOV and allow for up to 4 lighthouses per playspace. 2 lighthouses with the 1.0 FOV is plenty for regular consumers.
Word of caution though: You can't mix 1.0 and 2.0 lighthouses in the same playspace!
ok
which one do i need
I have just the 16mm front one. If you don't need glasses, you can go for the 10mm for a little more FOV in-game
wait what
The back one can be more hygenic, but I heard it can also make it more slippery
so which one is best
Technically the 10mm, but if you need to wear glasses, you'd want the extra space added by the 16mm foam
i dont wear glasses
The 16mm foam is like the stock interface, while the 10mm is thinner so it puts your eyes closer to the lenses
RIP
how long will it be until it gets back in stock
I don't know. Ask the VRCover support. They are usually pretty quick and super friendly
ok, will do when i get to that point
well it seems that im going to probably get a vive pro and index controllers with 1.0 basestations.
is there any setup i would need to do?
or is it through steam vr
Nope. The VP1 runs right off of SteamVR. No extra setup required
oh ok
HTC has some bloatware they want you to download, but no need for that
ok
its still a huge price tag
is the original vive good? whats the difference between the pro and non pro
The Original Vive is usually a bit cheaper as it's older. The main difference is that the original Vive uses rubber straps similar to the Quest 2 and the original Vive also has way lower resolution screens. (1080x1200 per eye for the OG Vive and 1440x1600 per eye for the Vive Pro 1)
also are there any "rules" of vr to never do with your headset, because i want this to last more than 5 minutes
ok thanks
Never ever let sunlight hit the lenses directly, and don't clean the lenses with any chemical agents. A damp cloth is all you want to use
ok is that it? (apart from the logical things like dont throw it against the wall and pour liquids on it)
Especially as you start out, you do want to take regular breaks. Best to not pull an all-nighter. Same applies to if you start feeing sick or starting to get a headache. Rather take a break then try to push on.
ok
also is unity the best way to make vr games?
im just wondering if i decide to screw around with vr development
The Vive Headsets and the Index have a number of different adjustment mechanisms (like IPD adjustment and an eye relief slider). You'd want to match the IPD of the lenses as close to your eyes IPD as possible to get as clear of an image as possible. The eye relief slider you might want to adjust if it helps with comfort in VR
how would i know my IPD
I've honestly never played around with VR game development. I've seen a number of VR titles written in unity, so it should be fine
ok
The most accurate way I've found is to take a ruler with you to a mirror. Then what you'd do is close your right eye and alight the 0 mark with the center of your left eyes pupil. Then you close your left eye and put a finger next to the mark that is the closest to the center of your right eyes pupil. Now you can take away the ruler and read what it says. IPD is usually measured in mm (Millimeters). If you can't find a metric ruler, you can measure it in imperial units and convert, but it's not going to be just as accurate
there are probally mobile apps for this i bet lol
The Vive headsets also come with a little booklet with a metric ruler printed on btw
There are, but they almost never work as accurate as a properly calibrated ruler 😉
fair
Maybe once that use Apples FaceID sensors might be usable
i dont have a face id phone
Welp...
Don't step on the cable and don't bend it too much? Most VR cables are optical-hybrid cables, meaning they have tiny little glass fibers inside. Bend them to tightly or crush them, and your cable is toast. At least HTC does sell cable replacements on their website...
ok
Oh, and the Vive and Vive Pro have OLED screens. You'd want to leave them plugged in for a bit after using them, so the electronics have some time to mitigate possible burn-in, before it becomes visible. You wouldn't want to unplug an OLED TV right after using it for the same reason. Although, I doubt a VR headset is as susceptible to it...
I dunno. Some people like to. Turning off the link box does seem to do the same as unplugging it btw
lol
i mean beat saber is one game i wanna start with, is that good?
and also half life alyx because i get it for free with the controllers
It is. Until you get reminded for OLED black-level smearing. It's rare that it becomes notable, but there are occasions. HLA for example >.>
Beat Saber is awesome (actually the reason I bought VR originally), and yes, Half Life Alyx comes free with all Index Hardware purchases, except the base stations
ok
Quest 2
also is there any new headsets coming soon that would instantly make my setup irrelevant
I fell asleep lol
Yeah, should be fine. You might want to turn down the render resolution in some games though...
You need to play Boneworks my man
i will
Not as of right now. There are literally no more OLED VR headsets coming to the consumer market. The Vive Pro was the last PCVR native one with OLED, so you should be fine
Ok thanks
ok
also what are the downsides of oled
because there has to be downsides
👍
Possible burn-in and price
what causes burn ins, and can i get a new headset for free if it happens
One I already mentioned: Blackness smearing. In very dark gray to black areas, there might be slight purplish ghosting visible. It's basically invisible in 95% of use cases, but in Half Life Alyx, there was an area where I did notice it (not saying where to prevent spoilers)
Maybe you will get one if you have guaranty
ok, i dont really mind
Burning happens if the pixel display the exact thing for too long, pixel get somehow stuck
Burn-In almost never happens on VR. It's when the same image get's shown on screen for too long. As long as SteamVR puts the headset to sleep, and you use only titles that use head tracking to some degree, you should be fine
But don't worry
it shouldn't happen?
On a technical level, what happens is actually that the organic parts of the sub pixel start to degrade and can't light up as brightly
so i just need to turn off my headset when i stop using it period
It's if you leave it for like 8hours with a still image you will get a tiny burn in
But it's normally in the course of months or even years
so i just need to MAKE SURE i dont keep it on accidentally
My dad mac is completely burned lmao everything stays for 5 secs
Yep that's all
After use just un plug
DONT!
why
But if you leave it on your table powered to go to the toilet it's fine
I disagree from what I know
ok
OLED screens have techniques to mitigate slight changes to the OLED substrate, before they become burned-in. These do require power to work and usually act when the screen is turned off but has power
ok so i should turn it off
but not unplug it for like a couple minutes
So don't unplug the headset the moment you're done. Just close SteamVR and you're fine
Yup.
I didn't knew it thanks
Then do what he says
SteamVR also turns off the screen after about 5 seconds of the device not moving, so you should be fine in that regards
What kind of screen does the CV1 have?
It also has OLED screens
Years with enough care really
ok
I've seen samsung phones with OLED screens from 2014 with barely any visible burn-in
Granted, different use-case, but both OLED
I have my oled phone burned but it's just battery and notification icons
how old is it
also is a pully system good?
You don't necessarily. There are people who have theirs on Tripods, but I wouldn't recommend that. Best case is having the lighthouses being mounted high up on the wall or into the ceiling. I've also heard of people using commando strips of heavy duty Velcro. Personally I wouldn't trust my lighthouses on some glue, but everyone their own. You'd want to handle the lighthouses careful like a hard drive. They are rather fragile and wouldn't survive a drop from ceiling height
ok, i think i will drill it
3 yo
ok
For a phone it's totally normal
ok
Pulley are good if you can drill your ceiling , idk if adhesive is enough
I never done it
i can drill
I am wireless 😎
f L e X
I'm personally fine with the cable on the floor. Be aware that a pully system does add extra stress on the cable and that it might not last as long installed into a pully system
ok i wont tehn
*then
also where can i try vr, ive never tried a actual vr headset (only the ones at the arcade that are like mixed reality headsets and i enjoyed it)
HTC does offer a Wireless Adapter for the Vive, Vive Pro 1 & 2 and Vive Cosmos. It's 400$ and requires an extra fan to not crash, but it super nice when it works. I'd only recommend you get this, if you can justify the extra cost tbh
400 $ is overpriced in my opinion
400$ nah
no way
Exacty why I wouldn't recommend it for starters
im fine with a cable
either way im used to having a cable with my headphones
and i get immersed into my monitor lol
I know that feeling. 34" Ultra-Wide just hits different compared to 16:9...
Not comparable to the immersion of VR tho 😉
lol
nice
yes
what games should i get
Interesting question
Gonna give you 5 i like
Boneworks (must have)
Half life alyx (must have)
Super hot
Job simulator
The climb (haven't bought it yet but I'll)
Not beatsaber?
Also if you like medieval and fantasy things like magic get blades an sorcery
Never tried doesn't look fun to me
My old S7 had an very big burn in and it sucks
You have to move your arms and hit cubes on a certain beat. I find it fun but everyone has their opinion
I don't know anyone who has it to try
My favorite is Boneworks
A lot of gameplay, unlike beat saber. I think i would be bored
beatsaber aswell
And Pavlov.
eh
i have a quest 2 that i use standalone, and the only 3 games i haven’t been bored of so far are beat saber, pavlov and echo VR
BeatSaber is basically a Rythm Game, some people like those games, some dont.
One thing that really sets Beat Saber apart from other rythem games even from VR rythem games is that Beat Saber has a 360° mode, so you actually turn around during game play
8 lane mode is great too
Ho nice
How much is beat saber
30 ?
And they are dlc ?
Hah! If you have the space for it. My playspace is like 3.5m in width and on 8 lane maps I easily trigger the Chaperone bounds at the sides of my playspace at the edges of an 8 lane map...
Yup, Beat Saber is 30 bucks. The DLCs are absolutely optional as there are tons more songs freely available on websites like https://bsaber.com
The game even has official custom song support on PC, but 3 mods I'd recommend installing to get the best custom song experience are Chroma, Mapping Extensions and Noodle Extensions. Thanks to an App called "ModAssistent" the installation of Beat Saber mod is as simple as hitting a checkmark and clicking on "Install"
@rapid otter
It used to be 20 bucks but when they went went from the pre-release to the 1.0 release in May of 2019, they increased the price to 30 bucks. Doesn't seem to ever have been on sale on Steam, according to SteamDB at least...
any reason why my DP monitor would "restart" when I turn on/off oculus service
it goes black and then after a second or two screen comes back again
sometimes it breaks colors a looot like makes it dark
Not that I'm aware off
Could be a driver thing or even a framebuffer problem...
Most likely somewhere in the GPU stack on the PC...
is 14x14 feet a big enough play space
yeah Im having big VR issues
constant black screens etc
btw is it normal for a rift s to have the back band higher than my occiput
I have to literally screw it in tight below it so the headset wont fall of my head and I see something
Is your gpu stock ?
stock?
I tried it on a 2 RX5700XT's where one was broken indeed
GTX 1660S
and RTX 2060 windforce OC
it was like that on all
Absolutely. As long as all of the space is unoccluded by furniture, you're golden. Damn' that's even larger then my playspace
Not overclocked
I have a question, does anyone else lag for like 10 seconds after you go into steamvr dashboard when in vrchat?
My room is that big
My play space
5x6 feet ish
Yeah, that should still be fine
i once saw this video on youtube of this guy with a quest 2 in a empty big facility imagine how cool that must've felt to him
Yeah, but wouldn't you need certain patterns for the tracking of the Quest 2 to work? Just having concrete and some metal bars usually isn't enough for tracking...
Be sure to watch part 2 for game play
25x25 guardian walking around the border of the quest 2 play space I created. What games should I try like this 🤔
wouldn't some rugs and posters solve the issue
The detail has to be clear enough for the cameras to track them. SLAM Tracking (what is usually used on headsets like the Quest) works on a mix of how much certain objects within the frame of the camera moved as well as trying to detect certain objects in the room, that it knows are in certain places (usually placed in the virtual room as you set up the guardian)
The latter is used exclusively to find the playspace again, incase it has been lost for some reason
Right now I can only play seated because my pc is in my bedroom and I have like a 5 foot by 2.5ish foot space surrounded by the bed and the wall and the desk. I might move my second rig to the living room so I can try it actually standing up. Lol
Punching the bed when trying to kill something isn’t too bad but the desk would hurt I bet!
Moving into student accomodation and I will prolly bring my headset too as I'm bringing my pc setup. I have a pretty smol space in my office already, so hopefully going slightly smaller shouldn't be too bad
- Though I mainly only play bs on it lmao
i wanna get the eye tracking module for my pimax so i can do like
that weird eye tracking playspace manipulation
seems hella useful
couldnt understand anything cus it sounds advanced and stuff but looks like it's cool
basically it uses the time your brain ignores while looking to move the view slightly
so you can have a larger playspace without realizing your actually walking in a smaller room
I still cant figure it out, launching oculus app or turning it off makes my DP monitor go black and it annoys me soo much
i connected my oculus to my pc and oculus not detect
i connected display to gpu
and other plug to usb 3
anyone know a fix
my device is up to date
Okay. The laptop I recently got for free just randomly up and died on me. Before it died, I ran the steamvr performance test on it and it said it met the minimum requirements. It was an Asus from 2014 with an I7 4760HQ and a 980M. I'm now looking for a new laptop, and I found one for $900 with a Ryzen 5800H and an RTX 3050. How well would that score for VR potential?
never mind
apparently the 3050ti is worse than a 1660ti
which I find very odd
I thought the 1660 was supposed to be bare bones
BUT
I think it would be “okay” for vr
don’t expect to turn the graphics up at all
There's another laptop with a worse processor (10750H) and slightly slower memory, but with a 1660TI Max-Q, 6gb vram as opposed to the 3050's 4gb. Would that be better than the 5800H & 3050?
may i ask why you wanna buy a laptop and not a PC
I have a PC. 3900X + 3070. The issue is that it isn't exactly portable. I find myself wanting to play VR while across the state from my PC more often than you'd think, and I'd rather buy a laptop than sell my soul to the Facebook gods of standalone VR
However it's proving to be more difficult than I initially anticipated because no new companies are coming out with standalone headsets to compete with the quest 2, and not many laptops have the connectivity to run a VR headset. I haven't even found one with a displayport connector yet, just mini displayport.
find one with thunderbolt dp to the gpu
The 10750H + 1660TI one has a thunderbolt 3 x1 port, if that counts?
May I ask what roughly your budget is @gloomy crater?
'Cause I've recently purchased an XMG Neo 15 (2020) for like 1500€. It has a 10875H and a 2070 (Refresh) Max-P. I was going back and forth between it and the Core (2021), which Linus recently showed off, but went with last years Neo for the larger amount of VRAM that the 2070 has...
I don't know if Schenker/XMG have something similar to Bestware over in the States though...
Ryzen 3 3200G or i3-9100F better for VR?
neither are really up to spec, but I guess a zen+ apu is better, neither are good though
I'll take it temporary
Until prices of cpu go down
Also i soon will have both until i can sell 9100F to get 9400F
Standalone Xbox VR headset when
Budget should be somewhere around $1k USD, and I'm hoping to be able to get it by September since that's when my next big trip is
Didn’t Linus say in one of his videos that there would be a vr pc video
Probably never, or not anytime soon, if we go by what the Chief of Xbox, Phil Spencer, said a while back...
To quote him:
Nobody wants VR
Yeah microsoft kinda shit the bed when it came to VR. They were big on VR marketing at one point but then they basically used just the PSVR sales to gauge audience interaction as a representation of the entire industry.
So when he said "nobody wants VR" what he meant was "we saw that nobody liked PSVR so chances are nobody will like Xbox VR"
I think it has more to do with the flop of WMR. It was completely developed by the Windows Team and only got input by the Xbox team in terms of what components to use for the controllers.
The Xbox team then saw how sluggish the WMR release ended up being and saw that as an indication that VR doesn't have too much interest.
You see, before the Quest and Quest 2 took the market by storm, PSVR was the most sold VR headset...
That... Is horrible...
ok I'll use my google cardboard instead.
Vive Pro 2?
He may replace Index tho
also terrible
Do you think about a haptic feedback belt that you would wear on your chest something with 6 motors all around, that would be a cheap yet efficient way to provide haptic to everyone
@haughty thistle
Eh. If we'd already go to the effort, might as well make it a full blown vest. Wouldn't be much more expensive, has the potential for longer battery life and is more immersive
A vest is 300 minimum
Like I said, a vest wouldn't be much cheaper then a belt
I think something in the 90 or 100 € i would cop
The reason they are so expensive is not because of the tech, but rather because they are so low volume that the production cost impact the price more then the material cost
Yep
But something more affordable would be some much more i think
Do you own one ?
Because i would love to but it's way to expensive
How do you want to make something that is small volume cheap?
Either you cheap out on components and make the product worse, you eat up the cost or you somehow market it so well that people start buying in masses and you can ramp up production
I think that with some clever work that product would be very attractive
I may be utopic i know
If you make something in large quantities, you run the risk of getting stuck on unsold stock. Atari can tell you a story 'bout that with the game E.T. for the 2600
Fair point
And no company is willing to go to that risk, unless they know the demand is there for it. Sadly, it isn't. Only really the hardcore VR nerds (like us) are interested in strapping up in a full-blown suit to be as immersed as possible. A haptic vest isn't as marketable as a Quest 2 sadly...
And to be totally honest, I don't think even I would be willing to put on a full suit just for VR. Usually my playsessions are too short for it to be worth it. I'd be strapping in and out like 15-30 minutes which can be a lot if your average play session is about an 1 and a half...
I'm not sure about it, look at vr headset, 3 years later it was very niche now it becoming mainstream, but surely haptics won't become as mainstream
It would be light and easy
It's nice to dream. And I do think that, if science can make a major breakthrough and full-dive VR becomes possible, that that is going to be the future of VR. But until then, Haptics are probably always going to stay as a niche.
Then again, I could be totally wrong. There were people in the 80s saying Video games are just a trend that is going to fade into obscurity with the years...
Yeah and tach go away and come back at times
With ups and down
Have you ever tried one before ?
I actually haven't. But mostly because I look at the price, then the supported games. I just can't justify to purchase one, and I don't know anyone close by who owns one...
I think kickstarter will certainly do some cheap haptic (or promise so 😏) a lot of people like me ( i think) have the money to buy one (haptic suit) but don't want to put such money for it.
Hah! 3D, remember that? Back in the 90s was absolutely trendy, then kinda went away, then it came back in Cinemas and not long after TVs. Nowadays it's only mentioned in the fine print that a movie is also available in 3D, but 2D is standard again, even in Cinemas xD
Boneworks support bhaptic that's why I gained interest in it
Good example
Remember the 90's lmao born 15 years after 😂
You see, Boneworks isn't a title I play all too much (still have to play through the final level lol)
If VRchat would support this kind of tech more natively, I'd appreciate it. But as it stands, I'd either have to get comfortable with the horrible UI of Neos or with the tiny user base of CVR (and even that doesn't support many of these niche hardware pieces)
I can officially say that I am indeed a 90s kid. Born '99 lol
What's cvr
ChilloutVR
It had like a big hype when it came out, but now I hear almost nobody talk about it, as if the platform died or something xD
I never played vr chat I went in and felt lost, tho if one day you feel like hanging out there so i can discover it would be a pleasure
Man i love boneworks
Pretty much everyone I hang out with as of recent I have met in VRChat
Ok
I'll download it on my pc
Is it just like a 3d discord where you just talk or are they things to do ?
Yeah, it's bascially a social platform. You can hang out with people and whatnot. There are also a number of different game worlds where you can play nice little games. It's like a full meta-verse almost, except that there a numerous worlds, each offering their own thing
It's a really nice game, especially if you know like a group that you can keep hanging out with
lol
😐

Yeah I am an solo player
And i don't make a lot of friends you know you paly with someone and you never play after you know the story 😐
I used to be too. And I still play almost exclusively solo. I do chat with the other guys mostly through discord or we just hang out in VRC. Depends on the mood of everybody
Tho I'm quite sociable
I like discord a lot
Having good time here and on other servers
Do you play onward ?
Nope
🥲
None of those shooter games. I'm really bad at aiming. Both on flat and VR lol
Eh. My slightly unsteady hands and a bad eye for aiming, just make me a bad gun handler
It's a lot about technic on how to place hands to be steady
Get yourself angled with your left hand prominent
Pump your chest with air
You explaining me won't help anything
Trust me, I can only learn by doing. I know from experience
Hu
Ok then
I have a lot of hours in onwards it becomes very fun once you get the hang of it...
But I understand you'd ont like it
I just got lone echo you should get it too two hours in and that's amazing
Lone echo sorry
If only the Echo games aren't Facebook exclusives. I do have a CV1 and Quest just for those titles, but to be totally honest, I'm not really willing to throw any more money at Facebook then I already have...
🤡
I do
I think lone echo is worth this compromise
You really bought a cv1 and quest for exclusive ?
Or did you had em before
I bought the Quest long before the Facebook login requirement, mostly for on-the-go VR, but also as a backup in case my Index breaks, now I only use it for the out and about. The CV1(s) I purchased at a later date for the Exclusives I do own, but also because I just plainly wanted one lol
The CV1 has proven to be one of the most comfortable headset in my collection actually. But it's ancient lenses and low res screens do limit it's use-cases tho
When i see what you guys own and the time you putted in vr if feel weird being called a hardcore vr user too
Getting outdated
I would like another headset now but i can't spend thousands
It's the only thing I can afford
google cardboard is not vr
It can be.
Trinus CBVR + Kinect 360 + Any controler, ig joycons as example.
My setup
Still technically vr.
but still technically garbage
why does for example index's lenses look normal but quest 2's lenses have a bump in the middle
The Index uses one-sided fresnel lens, while Oculus has gone for a hybrid approach. Supposedly it helps with eye relief (for which the Index can distance the lenses further away)
it is
To get a 5k super and have it working it would cost me 2k minimum, i really want one but I'm not Jeff Bezos
The pimax headsets have a reputation for being pretty shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4J1yFo1ayE
Thank you to Audible for sponsoring this video! Get your free trial using my link https://Audible.com/Thrill
I finally have a chance to try out a Pimax VR headset long term. Here are my in depth thoughts after using the Pimax 5k Super as a hardcore Valve Index user. So far I actually have really been enjoying the headset.. but not gonna lie i...
Yeah I know but anyways i couldn't buy it so ...
Just get a quest 2
you cant get anything better than that tbh
the index has bad quality control
Not sure about it
I already have one
Well what else are you gonna buy
Index - Bad Quality Control
Vive - Shitty FOV and resolution
Vive Pro - Too many con's to get into
Rift S - Bad Resolution and FOV
I would advise sticking to your Quest 2.
Humm
Whats your main usage scenario for vr?
If others are so bad why vr enthusiast use something else
Gaming
Boneworks or hlvr ect
Most people stick to the Quest 2 because its just that good.
Thrillseeker mainly uses the index because he got lucky with quality control
but has made a video about the bad experience with the index controllers fragility
Then stick to the quest 2, it has the best resolution and quality for the money.
You cant get anything better than it right now
Still better fov and res would be nice
Better resolution?
Seriously-
1440 x 1600 vs 1440 x 1584
Thats the difference between the Quest 2 and the Index.
The only thing the index does better is the FOV
89 vs 130
Valve?
A Oculus CV1
and a rift s
and yes, I dont care about quality.
A better fov makes all the difference
and the fact that a quest 2's resolution isnt good enough for you
is funny
You said you play boneworks and half life alyx right
why do you need fov
you already have 89°
Changes everything feels way better
if you get a vive pro 2, you'll probably have to get the index controllers because the standard ones suck.
so that adds another 2- 300 bucks to the cost
also, the vive pro 2 sucks.
I don't have this kind of money
Huu
Bet you never tried wireless
So good
I play wherever i want in my house
I can lay down jump
Do whatever I want, wireless once you tried, if you go back to wires feels like a downgrade
Why would I wanna do that
I have a nice setup with lots of space
in my comfortable room
what more would I want
to sucker punch my dad?
I play in the living room
that sounds horrible tbh
Or in my parents desk room (where you work )
I have more space in my room than in the living room
and once i get the rest of the clutter out, ill have so much space
its gonna be insane
Eh. The Index continues to be the best all-in-one-box option for PCVR. The Vive Pro 2 has quite some glare that one needs to get used to, Pimax are just garbage build quality, comfort and screens and the Reverb G2 just doesn't have great controllers.
Personally I'm going to stick with my Pro 1 as my daily driver, just because of the OLED screens alone...
The problem with the Quest and Quest 2 are that they aren't native PC headsets, so the image you see is compressed (quite noticably at times with ugly dark smudges on contrary color edges) and because of that they have quite a bit of processing overhead. If I pay for a 3090 and 5900X, I want that to go towards game FPS and not some background processing tbh
Just upgraded to the 3090 and do some quick benchmark in OpenVR benchmark
The result is quite terrible, my previous 3080 got around 72fps.
Any idea what might cause this?
Update/reinstall drivers?
Yes, DDU in safe mode 2 times
Hmm
All driver/bios/windows are up to date
Other benchmark like Unigine seems pretty average for 3090
Have you actually tried it in game to notice it's significantly worse?
I might need to test out some more game tomorrow but it seems to be better
Just curious to know why OpenVR has such low score
It could be just the benchmark being weird
hmm, that seems to be the case then
If it actually was that much worse you'd easily notice it in games
I have only tried VRCHAT tonight, the first time I boot up the game, VRC seems to limit itself to 10Gb of vram for some reason
Reinstall the driver fixed the problem
And I have to login on vrc everytime I launch it lol
fps wise, on par with 3080. but it VRC so
oculus wants me to get a new face cover because of the recall
they send me a silicone cover apparently that pops onto the existing one
Big Valve Index 2 patent drop. Focused on Eye-tracking but also goes along with all of my predictions, and so much more.
The CPSC wrote “Consumers who experience a skin irritation or reaction should immediately stop using the recalled foam facial interface, and all consumers should contact Facebook Technologies to receive a free silicone cover. Facebook Technologies is contacting all Quest 2 users directly.” The CPSC said about “4 million” facial interfaces are affected by the recall, plus 172,600 in Canada, sold between October 2020 and July 2021 — the interfaces come with each headset sold as well as sold separately for $20 or for $40 as part of a Fit Pack.
I finally found the sweet spot on my quest 2 by accident and it's so much more clear
You mena ipd adjustment ?
can you use liv with the quest 2 on oculus link
I don't see why not. However, keep in mind that Liv is designed to work with a fixed playspace, whereas with Quest Link, the playspace is moved to whatever you set as your playspace center in the Quest home environment. That means you probably going to have to set up Liv completely anew every time you start up/restart Quest link
ok
i was trying it earlier and it didnt want to work with beat saber
that was on the oculus app tho not a steam vr copy
Oh yeah. Liv might only work with games bought off steam. Would make sense at least, 'cause Liv hooks into SteamVR, and if the game doesn't run in SteamVR, Liv can't find the runtime
no like i adjusted it by accident and then it got much more clearer
i thought it was just something with my nose but it was my headstrap that wasnt adjusted right
i dont really know how to explain
🚨 Facebook is recalling oculus quest 2 because of the foam on it causing skin rashes and hives, bumps, etc 🚨
Yes
what does recalling mean
it means that a company requests that everyone with a certain product return or stop using it because of a defect the product has
usually the company refunds the product or provides a replacement in this case it is providing a replacement
all i see is a free silicone cover that I don't have to buy now.
i didn't even request for one lol, but a free facial interface is a free facial interface i guess
Yeah is going to be very easy to clean and not act like a sweat sponge
Random question: how well would a laptop with 8750H + 1070 fare with a quest 1 over virtual desktop? My mom has a quest 1 but wants to play steamvr games, doesn't want a whole ass gaming computer, and needs a new laptop anyway
what if i didnt buy mine directly from oculus
Should be fine? I don't know about the CPU, but the GPU should be plenty for VR
Every time I try to open up Oculus rift software so I can set it up I receive this message
How much free space do you have on your C drive?
I tried clicking the learn how button still nothing happened after I did what they told me
That's curious...
doesn't matter
you don't ship anything back you just put your address and stuff in a thing and they ship it to you
I don't know why it doesn't want to install I have tried putting it on different drives and all of that it still doesn't work
If anyone finds the solution feel free to DM me I'm going to bed now
cool
i didnt get an email tho
oh nvm it cant ship to my country
you could still request for one
oh nvm rip
if thats the i7 it should be fine, i can run an oculus quest 2 with a ryzen 5 2400g and an rtx 2070 and it works fine
Yup. Quest Link is quite heavy on the CPU, so while you might be fine with your 2400g for titles that don't rely as much on the CPU, games that do rely more on it might struggle on Quest Link (VRC and Boneworks for example)
I think I'm gonna get virtual desktop because i have a R7 3700x
@haughty thistle
And switch the encoding from nvec
To x264
In order to gain some power by freeing my gpu 20% or so of encoding
It won't work for facebook exclusive like lone echo but it will with hlvr or boneworks
Nvenc barely takes any GPU power because it's special hardware on the GPU afaik. It only really takes up a bit of VRAM and a bit of the Bus speed. So under normal circumstances, it shouldn't impact frame rate. X264 on the other hand runs completely in software and does impact CPU performance quite a bit.
From my experience it does seem like the Quest does use CPU encoding at least to some capacity anyways...
I checked msi afterburner and 3d rendering is at 70-80% and vid compression works at 20-25% of computing power on the gpu...
I also looked on task manager
Said same the same thing
You have a very powerful gpu surely it doesn't impact you that much but 20% of my RTX 2060 is a lot
Even on my 1060 back in the days, Nvenc barely made a dent in encoding. Could it be that Quest Link is not using the Nvenc encoder, but rather pure CUDA? There is a difference as you can also do hardware assisted video encoding using CUDA. For special applications it's often the best choice (for example for video rendering)
A simple test whether Quest Link uses NVENC is this: fire up Quest Link and then OBS. In OBS you select Nvenc as your video encoder and start the video capture in OBS. If OBS can't start the capture while Quest Link is active, Quest Link does use Nvenc, if OBS can start the capture, then Quest Link does not use Nvenc as Nvenc can only encode one video stream at a time
Ok thx I'll try it tomorrow
I'm still having drive issues with Oculus software
Do you think the 3070, 3070ti or 3080 would work well with the Rift S and with a better higher resolution and higher refresh rate display in the future
And which one would be the sweetspot
If you are able to afford it the 3080 would be the best
Tho a 3070/70ti will do the job nicely
You have my opinion but I'll let Chickenbread answer as he knows better in my opinion ...
Absolutely. I would say the 3080 is probably the most future proof. VR can be quite VRAM intensive, and Nvidias decision to ship so small amounts of it on their 30-Series is beyond me. The Reverb G2 for example is so VRAM hungry that not even the 3080 can satisfy it (VRAM usage, well in excess of 12GB), whereas with the Vive Pro 2 would possibly still work on the 3070 and 3070Ti, but you'd already be scraping the ceiling of VRAM usage (about 8GB in my experience). Reason these two have so widly different numbers is A. the Vive Pro 2 doesn't actually run at it's full resolution due to it's software being crappy and B. the Reverb G2 already runs with a fare bit of Super Sampling, so it actually renders higher then native at 100%. Besides that WMR also adds some overhead in the case of the Reverb G2
So for the Rift S any of those 3 cards are going to be fine, but as we look into the future of VR, I don't think 8GB is going to cut it for much longer, and even 10 doesn't have that much longer either.
I personally went with a 3090, because of the VRAM, and I still don't regret that decision, even with the 3080Ti existing...
Hoi, its me again, i just wanted to ask if anything changed in the super cheap VR Market. Like, just the most basic Headset with 2 controllers, and able to play PC Games, what would the cheapest option be and cost?
Resolution and such dont matter as i well, play on a Ryzen 5 2600(x but it runs worse then one without the x cus reasons) and a 1050ti (oced to the limits) im fine with 45fps and lowest settings and 720p.
I would say the original Quest. There are some cheaper WMR headset but finding accessory is rather hard and tracking is not as good as the Quest
You can either play standalone, or use VirtualDesktop/Oculus Airlink to play SteamVR game.
Require a decent Wifi6 router though. Alternatively, you can connect the Quest to your PC using USB 3.0 cable
Usb C or 3.0? My pc has 3.0, so that would work. I also have a repeater in my room, so the connection should be almost direct. What would the fun cost?
USB C is just a physical connection, you need USB 3.0 speed.
If you use a wifi repeater, those are the worst in term of bandwidth and latency. You can probably play wirelessly but the latency and image quality will suffer
As for cost, Quest 1 is already discontinue so your best bet is to find 2nd Quest and buy a new facial interface from like VRCOVER
Its a Fritz!WLANRepeater 1750E if that matters.
I would recommend to connect your Quest to your PC using a cable if you want to play SteamVR game
USB 3.0 active extension cable + USB A -> USB C 3.0 will do the job
Like, pc goes via lan to the Repeater, and the repeater would allow my pc to see the quest in the network, so almost direct. (Fritz Mesh stuff) and well, internet gets via wifi to it.
Hm i see. Well, so you said second hand, but what would be an good price?
Quest 2 is $299
So I think around 150-180 for 2nd Quest 1 is an average price, at least on Ebay
120-150 €
Huh, ok, a lot cheaper then it once was
but again, I would still recommend to save up for the Quest 2 if you can
The Quest 2 is out of stock on Oculus store
so your best bet is to find in Germany/EU retailer
Huh. Hm, i mean, i cant really spend more then 150-200, so it gets kinda.. rough. Also, quest 1 isnt facebook locked, or?
Quest 1 does not require FB account
but I don't know what happen if you setup a new Quest 1
But nonetheless, FB account will be required by 2023
With a quest 1?
Yes, Quest 1 user will be required FB account by 2023
That sucks..
If i dont update, will that change anything?
(if i can prevent updates, that is
I think you won't be able to use any services, that include update, store, etc
That my guess, I don't use Oculus
I mean.. i would be using it only for steamvr and such
UnityVR maybe.
Oh then you don't need FB account
Even when its required?
(like, 2023)
Hm, well thank you, will look for such deals. Tho, Do you think the price of the quest 1 will drop further?
Like, 90€ maybe?
I mean, the price will drop eventually, but not anytime soon
Maybe after the Quest 3? Can't really tell
Hm, ill see.
One thing to keep in mind with the Quest and Quest 2 is that they have to encode the image on the PC to transfer it to the headset, so if you already don't have the most powerful PC, but want to play PCVR mainly, a native headset like an original Vive or one of the WMR ones might be a better choice as you get a better experience out of it. Back when I did some performance testing on my 8700k and 1080Ti, I was getting less then half the framerate on the Quest compared to what I got on my Index. (>120fps on the Index <72fps on the Quest)
Granted, this was with an older version of Quest Link and with the original Quest and not the Quest 2. Prolly should redo the test with something like OpenVR Benchmark...
@haughty thistle sorry for the tag
but do you know how to fix OpenVR Benchmark? It seem to behave weirdly after I upgrade to 3090
What do you mean with "behave weirdly"?
Huh... Framerate jitter...
It could have numerous reasons. One idea I have is that it might be down to thermal throtteling of certain components on the GPU. The memory on the 3090 is known to run hot. I replaced the thermal pads and paste on mine and it helped massively with the temps of the memory. (like from >100°C down to about 80-90°C)
It could also possibly hint towards a memory Bottleneck on the CPU side, but 32GB is large enough. Weird...
I'll try out OpenVR Benchmark on my different headsets later today and post the results here
The funny thing is the fps drop immediately when start the benchmark, around 30fps right in the beginning
Let me try again with HWINFO open
Previously 3080 give around 72fps
The only different other than GPU change is the motherboard. It is running PCIE 4.0 x8 instead of PCIE 4.0 x16
but from what I understand, it shouldn't matter
Max temp on memory is 78, GPU temp is 68
Have you checked whether or not ReBAR is enabled?
The result is the same with or without ReBAR
Huh...
Maybe whatever the motherboard is doing to split that x16 link to 2 x8 links could be the cause. Do you still have the 3080 for testing?
Pcie 4.0 8x is around 16g wich is way enough
Unfortunately I don't
I might try to remove all PCIE card and try again
It is ASUS X570-F, I have another USB card + Vive wireless so the motherboard is running x8/x8/x8 on all 3 PCIE x16 slot
Wouldn't it be x8/x8/x4? AMD might have 24PCIe lanes coming for the CPU, but only 16 are for direct connection to the top 2 slots PCIe slots (x16 if only one is populated, x8 if the second one is populated), 4 lanes are then for the top-most M.2 slot and the remaining 4 connect to the chipset
Usually the last physical x16 slot is wired up as an x4 slot only
Why don't you run a gpu benchmark ?
To see how it compares to other RTX 3090
Maybe your card is flawed
You can run 3D mark's fire strike it's hard on vram, check vram temps and it will give you a score to compare to other 3090
Also in Afterburner check if you have power/voltage/temp limits
I don't know a lot about software on gpu but i know quite some things hardware wise
I have more things if you need but try that first @chilly imp
Other benchmark run just fine, about average for 3090 since I don't do any OC
yes, my bad. The last PCIE is x4 only
the ISP has some problem for the last couple of days so I haven't been able to download pretty much anything
currently I only have Beat Saber and VRC installed, those run perfectly fine
VRC being VRC so there is little to no improvement
The difference between 3080 and 3090 is rather small anyway
Do you have hlvr or any demanding vr games ?
I think the most demanding is HL Alyx
You should try it and tell us
You know a lot of things can mess up benchmarks, but run perfectly in game
I will ask a friend to download that and see
Ok
Depends of the res and refresh rate but anyways that quite underpowered
Lima, you're also comparing 2 completely different classes of games...
i was just saying HLA isn’t the most demanding
Flight sim is cpu bound is it ?
OLED blacks be gud
