viscid atlas
#

how did that even get there

wispy cloak
#

So I think I'm just gonna put a plug in it

viscid atlas
#

yea you should

#

if its a mower i dont see harm in plugging it

wispy cloak
#

A lot of roofs were recently replaced because of hail last year

viscid atlas
#

ahhh

#

makes sense

fathom socket
#

my 300zx still rocks after all that happened to it

#

one time i got my turbo kit stolen

#

lmao

fallen falcon
#

the stock engine doesn't rock that much tho.. more of a ford leaver down the road

#

2JZ is another history, obviously

fathom socket
#

yeah

#

doesnt gap my brothers civic

#

that beast got 600 hp and its awd

#

and yeah the VG30DETT doesnt rock that much

fallen falcon
#

eying the EV6 but $$

#

thing is heavy also, i think it's got like 350 HP with the dual motor option, but due to the 2.2 tons 0-100 is around 5.2 sec

fathom socket
#

my 300zx has 1.4 tons

#

and 650 hp

#

bc yeah 2jz powa

fallen falcon
#

prolly suffers from tires doing burnouts there tho

#

i think those cars came with not so big ones

fathom socket
#

nah i dont do burnouts

#

i want to make it awd

fallen falcon
#

i mean off the grid launching

#

that's gonna be hard

fathom socket
#

yeah

#

so since i got a 2jz in it

#

maybe i can put a gt-r awd system

fallen falcon
#

too much work / $$ prolly

fathom socket
#

but awd>rwd

fallen falcon
#

sure though but like

#

at that point, why not get an AWD car?

#

something with more beef to the tires 🙂

#

AWD conversions to platforms like these are often times very hard to do, harder than just dropping in a block me thinks

#

so meh

wraith rivet
#

💀💀💀💀

#

why…

stoic ledge
#

But... wait for the GT

#

xD

fallen falcon
#

meh, this version is already very fast

#

but i'm likely not picking it up

#

well.. unless we manage to sell our other house which would then compensate for a vacation place + car upgrade.

stoic ledge
fallen falcon
#

ioniq 5 base is good too.. except we can't have it from hyundai.. yet

stoic ledge
#

Personally I prefer the EV6 over the Ioniq 5

fallen falcon
#

yeah it seems better in some areas

#

its the best passenger car diesel engine ever made

fallen falcon

in your subjective opinion.

charred depot
#

facts r facts

fallen falcon
#

it's subjective.

#

and an opinion at best.

charred depot
#

it was the inflection point of mass adoption of diesels in passenger vehicles for good reason

fallen falcon
#

more opinion

charred depot
#

thats a fact

fallen falcon
#

just opinions

#

none of those are facts

charred depot
#

sales numbers are facts

fallen falcon
#

who cares?

charred depot
#

does that make it not a fact

fallen falcon
#

no

charred depot
#

ok so its a fact

fallen falcon
#

you're bringing things you're making up and calling them facts

charred depot
#

I didnt make it up its a well known fact here

stoic ledge
#

XUD good

fallen falcon
#

yeah well known

#

a fact is more like, this car has a speedometer of 240 kph

#

it will not change in the mind of another person to 260

#

unless you're delusional

charred depot
#

were talking sales numbers here

fallen falcon
#

and i'm thinking to believe you indeed are.

#

since you're telling me things like, THIS is the best engine hurr durr.

#

that's a completely subjective topic just as cars are just as a car is.

charred depot
#

I hope you dont think im completely serious

fallen falcon
#

i don't care.

charred depot
#

clearly

fallen falcon
#

go waste your money

charred depot

fallen falcon

but not my time with your delusional crap.

charred depot
#

you are getting quite invested in my "delusion"

fallen falcon
#

yeah, maybe i should just block you

#

did in fact.

charred depot
#

if you feel I am forcing you to waste your time smart move

wraith rivet
#

if the sales number can be provided to back up the claim then it’s a fact

#

but just saying that without anything isn’t really

stoic ledge
#

Sales numbers aren't a measurement of how good cars are actually

#

Often it's just due to some external factors (like low lease deals, tax incentives etc)

charred depot
#

im not being serious ofcourse after 40 years there is better engines

#

But at the time it was released it was a big step up

#

today the XUD is "agricultural" but then everything else compared to the XUD was "agricultural"

stoic ledge
#

Agricultural is good, runs forever

charred depot
#

john deere moment

stoic ledge
#

Well excluding John Deere yes KEKW

fallen falcon
#

many garbage cars sell a lot, means nothing

charred depot
#

sure

fallen falcon
#

i think at one time the F30 3-series was the most selling sedan on globe

#

and the 320i there had a problematic engine in some areas

charred depot
#

but it was a "new thing" and it being actually not garbage spurred the adoption of the new thing

#

I hate to use this as an equivalence but it was like the tesla of diesels

stoic ledge
#

Oh god I hate it now

charred depot
#

But its £75, mainly getting it for the injection pump as maybe fuel will get bad enough ill actually run veg oil

deep zealot

so i have been struck by a issue that is common on the C7 a6s

my rear lights are cracking

stoic ledge

OOF that's common?

Don't you have expensive LED units?

common issue

they are to tight

stoic ledge

Yeah I'd also have the urge to immediately fix it yes xD

#

Getting something that checks every box well is difficult and expensive

#

For quarter mile, and drifting, around 20K, a Corvette C5 maybe the best option

#

U get RWD, u get a powerful enough engine that can be upgraded a ton, you also get a platform that's cheap to work on as it's domestic

#

If you didnt want to drift, a Porsche Cayman is a good option (2006~) as it's fast enough in quarter mile times, and it's very fun at going fast in mountain roads, however it won't slide aswell

#

Oh also the caymans repairs would be more expensive

lament crest
#

Mountain road is mandatory (like initial D)

#

Quarter mile is whatever

viscid atlas
#

Get a C5 Vette, very sporty, cheap to repair, fast, and easy to work on

viscid atlas
#

You must've seen one on the road at some point

lament crest
#

Is that a corvette?

viscid atlas
#

Although they're not as common as C6

#

Yeah, it is

lament crest
lament crest
#

Toyota

#

Nissan

viscid atlas
#

I wouldnt recommend any of those anymore

lament crest
#

Mitsubishi (specifically their lan evos)

lament crest
viscid atlas
#

Way too expensive to work on, and expensive to get

lament crest
viscid atlas
#

They used to be awesome when they were cheap

#

Yeah, price is indeed a number, but at some point it's important

lament crest
#

That’s cuz ford and Chevy ain’t as good as they used to be

viscid atlas
#

Yeah i know, that's why you don't get a new one

#

C5 is 1999~

lament crest
viscid atlas
#

Are you planning on spending cash, or are you financing?

lament crest
#

Cash

#

So 15k or lower

#

Used

viscid atlas
#

I don't think you can get a Japanese import car that's actually worth getting for 15K for drifting

lament crest
#

Should I finance?

viscid atlas
#

If you have a good credit score you should finance what you can pay off in a year for ayee

#

Sure*

lament crest
#

So not that good

viscid atlas
#

Hmm

lament crest
#

Over 750 is my credit score

#

Is that good enough to finance a car?

viscid atlas
#

I'm not sure how APR works anymore, but from what I remember if you do pay it off under a year you don't take much if at all interest on it

#

You should ask this to your bank tho

#

As I've said i don't remember and I'm not sure

lament crest
#

Ok

viscid atlas
#

But usually the smart thing to do is finance the car that you can afford with your saved money

viscid atlas
#

So you have money in your pocket, and you pay it off while earning

lament crest
#

Gotcha

viscid atlas
#

Yeah tho import wise all the fun and good drift platforms are basically gone now

#

Miatas, S13, S14, Supra MK3/MK4

lament crest
#

Problem with important is that they still follow the same laws as us cars so

viscid atlas
#

If you can find a BRZ that's a decent option, but the engines very very weak

lament crest
#

Not much of a point for going for import

#

Might as well get it from the states

viscid atlas
#

Import laws are stricter pre market

lament crest
#

Yeh

#

So imma just get one not imported

viscid atlas
#

Ofcourse that doesn't affect aftermarket, but still it's good to keep in mind

lament crest
#

Import cars follow same aftermarket and mod rules as non import cars

viscid atlas
#

I would recommend a C5 if you can afford it as i personally think that's what you're looking for, however it is a car with a very powerful engine, so you really need to learn to drift it safely at a track

lament crest
#

I want an easy going car before I drive something powerful

viscid atlas
#

Yeah, then if you can find one a BRZ, GT-86, or an FRS

#

Since they're the same car and all

#

But the issue with those is the engine is very weak, so it's slow for quarter mile

#

It'll be a ton of fun still tho

#

And since it's atmospheric you can always turbo or supercharge it

#

It'll be expensive to do that tho so keep that in mind

lament crest
#

Ok so I found a lan evo on Craigslist for 1.2k

#

Used

#

08

viscid atlas
#

08 lancer Evo, hmm

#

It's 1.2K

#

That sounds like either a salvage title, missing engine, or not running

#

That's way too cheap

#

Also ur not drifting a lancer evo

#

Those are AWD

lament crest
#

You can drift an AWD?

viscid atlas
#

I know you can technically drift AWD cars, but Evo is one of those that you won't be able to

lament crest
#

Also just to teach me how to drive stick for now

viscid atlas
#

Like not without heavy drift spec modifications

#

Like my car too, it's AWD and hates sliding

#

Even tho the power ratio is something like 90 to 10

lament crest
#

Dude I need to learn stick before I drive something powerful

viscid atlas
lament crest
#

Aren’t those expensive af

viscid atlas
#

I learned stick on a 1989 200SX with 200hp

#

No they're not that expensive, used ones atleast

lament crest
#

Ok so 350z

viscid atlas
#

And also, i only drove that car like 10 months

#

Then i switched to a 911 stick shift

#

With 320~ hp

#

Didn't rly feel a shift

#

And the 911 is atmospheric too so low RPM is way more tourqy than that 200sx

lament crest
#

350z 9k

#

370z a lot more

viscid atlas
#

Just make sure you don't get the drop top one

#

Yea 350z and 370z are basically the same cars tbh

#

The 370z just looks a lot better

lament crest
#

Ok

#

Problem is

My dad bought it for me

viscid atlas

And the equinox uses a 3.6 Dual overhead cam engine

lament crest

Which, the dual overhead cam has been around a long long time

viscid atlas

Yeah, it seems like these 2 engines are known for failures

viscid atlas

The equinox 2.4l and the VW 2.4l that's in the jeep

#

viscid atlas
#

Yeah, so I'm pretty sure you managed to get 2 cars that just happened to have bad engines

lament crest
#

Damn

viscid atlas
#

Example wise the Subaru BRZ, which is a newer car, people drive those things to the ground and the engine doesn't break that easy

#

Same with the 370Zs

#

People drive those to the ground too and the engine doesn't break that often

lament crest

Ok

#

What’s a good car to get a feel for driving stick?

viscid atlas

Any car that is a stick shift that doesn't have a mushy clutch

You just get more and more used to it overtime

In drift machines the engine gets swapped

viscid atlas

And engine wise the 370 engine is not that good

Or the 350

prime valve

stock block it can do 500hp

but its not a great engine

viscid atlas

Yes, a lot of stock blocks can do that

For a 3+ litre V6 500hp isn't that impressive

prime valve
#

Yeah I know

#

that why the 2jz is still golden

viscid atlas

It's the most popular and uses engine in drifting probably

#

And yeah it's a great platform

prime valve
#

same from 1/4 mile

viscid atlas
#

Eh, quarter mile V8s are more popular

#

As you can squeeze more out of them

#

And if i was building a drift machine I'd still stick with a Corvette anyways, cheaper to build

prime valve
#

Pro League they use many LS engines and 2jz

#

I see many 2jz swaps

viscid atlas
#

Well, yeah, because LS and 2JZ are the 2 platforms that stock blocks can handle a lot

#

I'd rather use LS than 2JZ tho, because it can handle more

#

And it's cheaper to build

prime valve
#

depends where you live

#

US LS engines are basically free

viscid atlas

Well yeah, that's why I'm saying i would rather

Does anyone know if the Bmw 125i manual m sport f20 is fun car as an daily driver compared to like a golf gti mk7 ? For some reason the 125i is much cheaper then a golf gti mk7 here in Sweden. A well optioned 125i is like 15000$ and similer golf gti is more then 20000$.

stoic ledge

The RWD is fun, but they are very narrow in side, if you're taller and/or wider you probably won't properly fit in it

brittle totem
stoic ledge

Ngl, idk. I have more space in my Corsa than both the F20 and the F40 1er lol

Definitely smaller than an E91 and I didn't really think that was particularly roomy, especially width wise. But that was acceptable, just wide enough. But not much to spare

But just go out and test fit one 😛

brittle totem
#

Weird we did a "roadtrip" in the e91 with our whole family and the shortest of us is around 180cm and it wasn't a problem even with all the luggage.

Why is the 125I m sport so "cheap" compared to it competitors i found a nice on with the big navigation/infotainment and the harman kardon sound system and the full m sport package with the leather comfort seats for just 14500€. A similer speced golk mk7 is like 22000€ If you can find one with the manual gearbox.
