but its peeling now and it just doesnt look good

prime valve
#

Bruh what a waste

#

I like the CLS

#

Its like a A7 but more classy

ember bobcat
#

yea i watched a motortrend video from like 2012 comparing it to the A7 and jaguar XJ something

prime valve
#

Also fully blacked out it looks real nice

ember bobcat
#

and this is way better than all the other apparently

#

yea

#

horrible ride due to the thin tires though imo

#

they are also summer tires

prime valve
#

Jaguars are trash

#

nothing to really compare too

#

they are real cheap inside

ember bobcat
#

yea sat in one a few years ago when i was at a dealer for them

#

every single knob squeaked

#

they have nice interiors but the quality is just horrible

prime valve
#

Yeah my dad was like let me buy one

Did my research made him go for a test drive

my dad doesnt like any of those cars

My dad likes his German cars

#

Also cars like that are pricy in Europe

#

My plan is to get a car from merica and import it to europe

ember bobcat
#

my dad hates them all lol always says that they arent built the same here

prime valve
#

I mean Merican cars are just chonk

#

overbuilt by a mile than a german

#

Germans are built for economy

#

Unlike Merican cars they are just built to work

ember bobcat

They are spinning a flywheel.

#

I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Anyway.

rotund cove
rotund cove
#

They produce thrust. They are rocket engines. I'm assuming you know what those are.

#

there is no torque

prime valve
#

1.7k lbs

#

torque

rotund cove
#

85K pounds of thrust

#

what do you mean torque

stoic ledge
rotund cove
#

"The torque would not necessarily apply to a rocket propulsion as unlike the cars which requires turning force ... The rocket thrusters cannot generate significant torque and are primarily used for course correction. The 'Torque' is the turning force generated say in the car wheels."

prime valve
#

85k lbs is a lot

rotund cove
#

85k lbs of thrust

#

and the falcon heavy is heavy as the name suggests

#

so it uses 27 of them.

fathom socket
#

a bit heavy

prime valve
#

a train has around 40k lbs of torque

rotund cove
#

so what is 85*27

#

2295

#

plenty of force to move a train + extra cargo

prime valve
#

Yeah but you would have to have engines at the back

fathom socket
#

the train will have fuel to go more than a mile or whatever

prime valve
#

pushing the cargo

fathom socket
#

you'll also deform the rails as you go along due to heating probably

prime valve
#

Also jet fuel and oxygen would have to be carried

#

Also probably derail

#

since rockets provide a lot of power at once

fathom socket
#

you cant even go particularly fast on rail usually

prime valve
#

Yeah pretty slow

#

like 60mph

fathom socket
#

bit more, unless this is some super big freight train

prime valve
#

40km h

#

is the is the fastest a cargo train will travel

rotund cove
#

so each engine consumes about 150 kilos of fuel per second.

#

a limiting factor.

prime valve
#

They can go 60mph tops

#

but most cant go faster than 70kmh

prime valve
rotund cove
#

are you using kph or mph your typoing

prime valve
#

both

#

since im too lazy to calculate to one

#

and 60mp h is like 100kmh

rotund cove
#

this is from the spacex website: "Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. With the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb) Falcon Heavy can lift more than twice the payload of the next closest operational vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy. Falcon Heavy is composed of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores whose 27 Merlin engines together generate more than 5 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft."

prime valve
#

average speed of a cargo train is 32kmh

rotund cove
#

so the rocket itself has a huge lifting capacity

prime valve
#

Yes

#

Its not viable

#

In any way

rotund cove
#

and a train is impractical and this whole conversation is pretty much a joke as well.

prime valve
#

Trains are very practical

rotund cove
#

not when you attach rocket engines instead of a traditional propulsion system for a train

#

is what i really meant, sorry.

prime valve
#

since they can carry like 200 train cars

#

Oh yeah

rotund cove
#

cargo ships can probably carry like 200 trains too :o

#

a train car is the same size as one of those containers right?

prime valve
#

21k containers

#

for a cargo vessel

#

maybe

latent pendant
#

doesnt it come to fuel consumption per tonn per mile?

prime valve
#

Yeah basically since it would be able to speed up the train but not sustain the speed

latent pendant
#

beside that both transportation methods has advantages/disadvantages

rotund cove
#

so 100 trains with 200 cars

prime valve
#

A container can fit like 3 cars

#

trains weight a lot

rotund cove
#

i mean ignoring weight and other factors

prime valve
#

18t a cargo train weights

#

10500 trains

#

a train is around 2 containers long

#

possibly 3

prime valve
#

Not enough power tbh

#

needs at least a top mounted bar too

deep zealot
#

Even if they're smaller now you have to spool 4 turbos instead of 2

#

and now you need way stronger chargepipes and plumbing systems to handle all that boost

#

Pressure is inverse to volume, so since you're using smaller turbos now you have a much higher pressure from the get-go to deal with even if its the same amount of physical air moving

dry pine
#

truck guys all over the world are creaming

viscid atlas
deep zealot
#

Moving the same amount of air through a smaller turbo means pressure is gonna be higher

viscid atlas
#

However the reason why a larger turbo can generate more HP at a given PSI is tempreture

viscid atlas
#

If you somehow managed to keep the air the same tempreture, the PSI and the volume would be the same

#

That's because pressure is directly tied into the amount of air in X amount of space

#

However tempreture is the variable in-between those setups

#

Oh, also, this is assuming your intake manifold has the same volume aswell

#

Because if it doesn't you'll be pushing in less air into less space to get the same pressure

#

In his example of 4 smaller turbos vs 2 bigger turbos, if it was built in a way where the 4 smaller turbos are feeding 2 cylinders each, it could generate the same amount of power as 2 turbos feeding 4 cylinders (assuming a V8 and assuming it's not a sequential setup)

viscid atlas
#

Also, by the way, whatever the hell they're trying to do to eliminate lag JuSt ShoVe MoRe TuRbO iN

deep zealot
#

holy shit i come back to an essay

#

can i get a tldr

viscid atlas
#

If you have 100s of millions to be able to afford to do anything, you'd be hiring an engineer and reviving the twin-charging technology, as it entirely eliminates lag

viscid atlas
# deep zealot can i get a tldr

Yes, 1 smaller turbo is worse than 1 bigger turbo cus heat, 4 smaller turbos could be less laggy and the same as 2 bigger turbos, however it's entirely dependent on setup (sequential or series) and manifold volume

deep zealot
#

The more common is sequential now though right?

viscid atlas
#

Yea sequential helps more with lag, and heat

deep zealot
#

Series i think is used in V6 engines a lot

viscid atlas
#

Sequential is also way more complicated tho, and requires a lot of math

deep zealot
#

Yeah donut media taught me

viscid atlas
#

Twin-charging is the best of both worlds, because you entirely eliminate lag

#

But the issue with that is... Here wai

#

Fun:)

#

Ehh, sort of

#

Maybe after i graduate i could try to do something stupid if i can find an easy to work on supercar platform

#

Lmao

#

This is specifically how it works for people who care

#

To be honest, we don't know

#

Because analyzing something like this is hard

#

Eh, not necessarily as twin-turbo charging systems (sequential specifically) do this already

#

Huh, however now I've noticed something

#

The way I'd do it is different than how VW has done it

#

I'd have a contingent control valve between the turbo and the intake manifold to bypass the turbo at lower engine RPMs...

#

I mean a decent bit

#

Well the idea with twin-charging is the pressure is actually normalized, so it should NEVER go above the pressure generated of the turbo alone

#

Because all the supercharger is there for is low RPM pressure

#

As soon as the turbo spools up the turbo takes over and the supercharger is bypassed

#

I can see a couple failure points tho

#

The control valve could fail to open, leading to the turbo trying to suck more air in than possible from the supercharger, creating a vacuum and destroying the supercharger or itself

viscid atlas

i dont think we should go into the creation of certain specific technologies because im pretty sure for every 1 that koenigsegg has developed WAG has developed 100

Because WAG functions with like 7 makes underneath it, the technologies implemented in say, Porsche, or Bugatti, individually as functioning companies is what I refer to

You should be able to get the money back from it at least. Depending on how the condition of yours is.

lone fern

probably.

it’s in good nick cosmetically, a bit of rocker rust and dents on the tailgate, but it has a roof rack and bed cap

but it’s got a lethargic 4.2l v6,
