i like manuals alot better because you can control much better than a auto

charred depot
#

my car doesent have a steering lock, it locks the car in reverse.

so you can steal it easy enough if you are good at reversing :^)

Okay, I guess it works for some auto's as well.

is car theft a common problem in yourope

dense shard
#

No more than the US

civic spoke

Used to be more common, it feels like.

europes too big and different to generalize

stoic ledge

I think they're still dropping now

But these days you can just copy the car key and drive off with the car.

stoic ledge

My brothers BMW got stolen last year tho

Locked ofc, no keyless entry

Still gone

charred depot

I dont think I have anything they want to steal as easy as it would be

stoic ledge

Probably in pieces now

dense shard

They can replace the fuse

stoic ledge

Still not sure how they managed to steal is, they also didn't smash a window or anything (atleast we didn't see any glass)

dense shard
#

Probably watched LPL

fathom socket

by the time they figure out it's missing a 50 watt starter fuse i would have had ample time to pick any one of my various firearms, or my carry, to go out there and shoot them to death

stoic ledge
#

Or... Maybe they programmed just a new key based on the VIN number? As the VIN number is just plain visible from the outside in the windscreen

civic spoke
#

Most cars are just stolen and pulled to pieces these days.

charred depot
#

I think they would have to reference the manufacturers database with that vin

Very likely it happened to the E91 also

dense shard

If I do move into the city, I'd get a shield installed

#

Often times they take a sensor when removing said cat, so car runs poorly

fathom socket
#

easy solution, here's what you do

#

remove all four wheels and lay the car on the ground after every use

they can't steal the car, they can't steal your wheels and they can't access your cats

dense shard

Apparently drunk driving and phone usage take priority

i looked for a A7 but could not find a spec i liked so went with a a6 instead

tough grotto
#

Wish I could afford one lol

#

That's also partly why I'm thinking about a van, I've seen some for decent prices and would give me time to at least have something convienent while I save money for a good normal car

errant shore
jovial mauve

a van is normal and very pratical

paper kernel
#

do you guys recommend a volvo 240 wagon as a first car?

stoic ledge
jovial mauve
#

i think 340i is like 10k more expensive

#

if i look at used cars from 2016

#

i have sorted price decreasing

#

335i is the same price as the golf

#

330i also same price thats weird

#

im wondering why would the 330i be still expensive

#

i have told him to check the BMW's out

stoic ledge
#

Was there a 335i of the LCI model? I thought only 330i - 340i

#

330i is still 2.0T

#

340i is the 6 cyl

#

But Golf R is a 2.0T also xD

#

But yeah, one of those would have my preference

jovial mauve
#

i would skip the 330i tbh

#

i would go 335i i think

#

or if you hate your life 328i

#

but those are from 2013

stoic ledge
jovial mauve
#

if my memory serves me correct the N20 engine has some issues

#

or is prone to more issues

stoic ledge
#

Ah yes true

#

Well it's the same for the pre-LCI 320i also

#

But that's why you should get an LCI

#

Those have the B48

#

(320i and 330i)

#

And tbh, you can just as well get an LCI 320i and remap it to 330i+ levels

#

Or pre-LCI, then the 335i has the 6 cyl yes

jovial mauve
#

i was just about to say, the 320i is so easy to tune

stoic ledge
#

Yeah that'd be my choice tbh

#

Very nice LCI 320i

#
  • remap
jovial mauve

if you get like a 2015 320i stage one for this tuner

or what he claims

LCI is less but still nice

jovial mauve
#

inland grotto
#

I've watched all the LTT and Short Circuit car videos, read the comments and looked on the forums, but they never directly mention any cars from Mercedes or VW. Is the value just bad, is it not worth shipping a car from Europe to the US?

jovial mauve
#

in what context?

#

EV's?

inland grotto
#

Yeah

jovial mauve
#

hmm idk i think the Mercedes EV's are really expensive

#

no clue honestly

#

i would like to see them check out the EQS tho

inland grotto
#

but that's like the top-of-the-line car from mercedes

#

i think they've already shown, that they want to review the cars for average people

#

like an ID.3 or an EQA

jovial mauve
#

They did the Taycan tho

inland grotto
#

Yeah, you're right, i forgot

jovial mauve
#

i think they should do more car vids in general

stoic ledge
#

You can't import EU cars to the US

#

They need to be 25 years old

jovial mauve
#

i mean i would assume mercedes builds them there as well? like Porsche

#

rules are the same for Canada ?

stoic ledge
#

Ah no well the can be imported by the manufacturer as they've processed/licensed/tested/regulated/... . But 3rd party import isn't allowed

#

Canada is different I think but not sure

#

I don't think the US has a large market for car such as the "smaller" ID.3, especially with the SUV/CUV "hype". That's why they only offer the ID.4

jovial mauve
#

yeah agreed, but i think also since this year its the first time the RS6 is being sold in the states

fathom socket
stoic ledge
#

Well yeah like I said you can modify them to meet all the US regulations, crash test it etc

Or use is for display and educational purposes, but then you can't really drive it (like 2k miles/year)

#

Not really circumstances you'd import a modern EV for

fathom socket
#

frankly you can import whatever the hell you want with proof of ownership

about twelve will let you register any "road legal" vehicle, being headlights, tail lights, seatbelts with or without a VIN number, and eight of them you don't have to live there to register it (Ever notice so many supercars are registered in Montana or florida?)

and as far as the rest of the USA.. dude, go to a junk yard and rip the VIN plate out of the closest thing you can find and tell them it's been heavily modified during rebuild and thus you'll get a rebuilt title after processing time

stoic ledge
#

Kek

Well didn't know my sisters boyfriend had this car

I wanna drive it lol

civic girder

they feel really slow

#

I suppose they're fun and quick, but I'm spoiled

#

My RX-7 is way slower than an NC, but it is so much more fun

fathom socket
#

o:

civic girder
#

out of the Miatas I have driven tho, the NC is the best

#

I have not driven an ND

fathom socket
#

I may not know all about it but I do see these on the road being custom by upgrading lol

civic girder
#

I don't think I've seen a modded NC in person before

#

I always see riced out NAs

dense shard
#

NCs aren't very popular.

#

I wouldn't mind one tho

civic girder
#

tbh I don't understand why

dense shard
#

They're the fat ones.

civic girder
#

the NC is a significantly better car than the NA and NB

dense shard
#

It's pretty much only that. They're the chonkiest.

civic girder
#

I also fail to see the appeal of the NA tbh

dense shard
#

People ignore the fact they had a substantial gain in power to offset said weight gain.

civic girder
#

NB is the same car but better

dense shard
#

NA is the first. Lightest.

#

I'd love an NB, but damn the price.

#

For now I'm stuck with my Jeep and Corolla. I can't find a single justification to sell either right now.

civic girder
#

NAs are light, but otherwise nothing special

#

if its for "pOp Up HeAdLiGhTs" there are better looking cars with popups

dense shard
#

I guess?

civic girder
#

what makes it nothing special is the motor is boring

#

it feels limp

dense shard
#

I only drove the NA once.

#

It's... lacking.

civic girder
#

ironically I'm fairly certain my RX-7 could beat an NA

dense shard
#

I get it, but I want more.

civic girder
#

a stock one

dense shard
#

I wouldn't bet on an NA winning any straight line race.

#

Pretty sure my Jeep is faster.

civic girder
#

It wouldn't win at many tracks or twisties either

#

they are nimble sure, but the later gens and many many other cars handle just as good if not better

dense shard
#

Wouldn't bet on my Jeep in the twisties

civic girder
#

I mean, its a Jeep

dense shard
#

... not with me behind the wheel.

civic girder
#

I'd bet your Corolla could outmaneuver an NA tho

dense shard
#

If literally anyone else wants to take their own Jeep on a track, go for it.

#

I imagine my Corolla could keep up no problem.

civic girder
#

keep up is an understatement

#

My friend has a tuned E46 (whatever that means) and he always says that my RX-7 gives him a run for his money in my 1st two gears

#

He's still faster without question, so its interesting how he thinks I can keep up with him

dense shard
#

Probably because the E46 doesn't feel fast.

civic girder
#

Maybe

dense shard
#

I won't call it a lazy engine, but it's more relaxed.

civic girder
#

I can't drive his car, so I wouldn't know

dense shard
#

I drove my friend's 330i.

civic girder
#

the clutch feels so.........idk? bad isn't the right word, but its not comfortable

dense shard
#

It's a wonderful cruiser, excellent luxury car.

#

oh yeah the marshmallow clutch.

civic girder
#

I can drive my Corolla with its dying clutch just fine

#

but I tried to drive the E46 with its brand new clutch.....and I couldn't even move it 2 feet

dense shard
#

I know people keep saying BMW's manuals are the best.

#

But honestly? Honda > BMW

civic girder
#

Anything > BMW

dense shard
#

rekt

civic girder
#

Best manuals I have driven have been my RX-7, the NC, and my late uncle's Willy's Jeep

dense shard
#

I'm happy with my Corolla's manual.

#

It's not fast, but it's easy.

civic girder
#

the NA and NB Miatas from a trans stand point feel like my RX-7, but the car as a whole feels lacking

#

I want to get a new clutch in my Corolla and see how it feels. It shifts so poorly rn bc of the old clutch that I don't like driving it

#

but at the same time, I should be selling the car

#

I am super interested to see how my Corolla would compare to my buddy's AW11 tho. Same trans and similar-ish engine, just in a different spot

elfin stone
#

Naah, the Pano is nearly non existent and I really wanted that

stoic ledge
elfin stone
#

Usually only Caravan models have it

stoic ledge
#

That's why I expected it came like that from the factory, pano is very rare and those I have seen came basically fully loaded

elfin stone
#

Mine was bare bones, but had all the cabeling

#

So it was mostly plug and play

stoic ledge
#

Yeah Opel's from that period came with loads of stuff pre-wired... if it was an option on the trim high chances it's pre-wired

#

And probably the pano roof versions had the most extensive wiring loom installed

elfin stone
#

Yep

#

Had to make my own drivers door loom though, the ones with powered rear windows are quite rare

stoic ledge
#

Yeah found that weird on Opel's, you could get the top trim Cosmo/Innovation version but in the rear you still had manual windows as standard

#

Astra J also only came as standard with power windows on I think the Cosmo/Innovation and Sport models

elfin stone
#

Weird

#

My line should be Edition

stoic ledge

elfin stone

elfin stone

And that one isn’t easy to refit
