Is PSA Opel better than GM Opel?

stoic ledge
#

Well idk, GM Opel was doing quite well just before they were acquired by PSA (now Stellantis). The Grandland (X) and Crossland (X) were the first PSA Opel's, however they were already designed when still under GM. So not really a full PSA/Stellantis Opel. Corsa was actually made under the PSA name, however using a platform PSA already developed for the 208 without any input, just an Opel body/interior put on it xD

I think the real PSA/Stellantis Opel's, in which Opel had a say during the development of platforms, are still to come. SO we shall see how that turns out. I am quite curious to see the new Astra, it's a great looking car imho with great promises, and it really shows the direct Opel is trying to move to. I think it'll be a great success, especially when the BEV version is coming in late 2022/early 2023.

#

Although I do think peak GM Opel was actually the last GM Opel: the Insignia. That is truly a very good car, underappreciated as it's in a dying segment and people just want cross-overs 🤮

It's defenetly a possibility

lunar bane

However, a very simple way to check if the alternator is working is to run the car and disconnect the positive terminal of the battery. If the vehicle stops running, then you probably have a bad alternator. this a good way to check?

A crosstrek with a turbo 2.4 and manual? please

Tho weirdly a lot of automakers are keeping safety features off the manual models.

#

... did Toyota fuck up by including all that stuff in my XSE?

#

Lane keep assist, collision mitigation, radar cruise control... like why can't Subaru do it on the WRX?

#

That last one is a total game changer.

civic girder
#

yea idk

#

but also, toyota can't include blind spot monitoring standard

And at this point blind spot monitoring should be standard on all cars

Mainly because I feel less stupid.

Both automakers have done stupid shit to cool me to buying another.

Both remain excellent automakers.

civic girder

I think I'd be happier with the Corolla Hybrid overall. The Honda has a better infotainment and slightly more standard safety features......and that's literally it

dense shard
#

I'd have to test drive em, the Insight is super compelling.

#

Accord hybrid > Camry hybrid on features alone

civic girder
#

I liked Toyotas safety shit better, and the auto highbeams were easier to turn off permanently.

#

Accord Hybrid gets way worse highway mpg

#

its the same story for the Insight

dense shard
#

I mostly commute on side roads.

civic girder
#

that's my biggest complaint, but I knew what I was getting into so I can't honestly say anything

#

city mpg is leagues better than the Toyotas for the exact reason it's highway mpg is relatively poor

#

You're not getting 65mpg city in a Prius

dense shard
#

I appreciate the prius offers AWD

civic girder
#

yea, its pretty expensive tho

#

I haven't seen very many awd Prius for that reason alone

dense shard

Not many of those in ND period.

#

But the only ones they have on sale are AWD

#

I'm hoping the next gen that drops will be compelling

stiff burrow

with the rise of electric cars i think many safety features will be standard
