Only vehicle I can think of off the top of my head that you would need a CDL for here is a fully loaded dually truck with trailer or that new hummer fully loaded

#

Idk how much that is actually enforced though

stiff burrow
#

Only one state, idk about other states

stoic ledge

stoic ledge
# stiff burrow

Ok so that's basically the same as here but with a higher limit

Ours is 3500kg (7700 pounds) for single vehicles,

And the combination if your towing over 3500kg. Towing below 3500kg (but above 750kg) you need a BE license (car + trailer)

#

Standard car license (B) is towing up to 750kg, and max car/combination weight of 3500kg

#

Exception: if car + 750kg trailer is over 3500kg, you can drive car + 750kg trailer (so theoretically the max you can drive is 4250kg if the car is exactly 3500kg)

stiff burrow
#

Oh interesting

stoic ledge
#

I want to get BE (so with trailer) but you need to take extra lessons for that

#

Will get it when I'm done with school xD So maybe next summer

#

But we shall see, no rush

#

Currently I can only drive a car (B) and a moped lol (AM)

stiff burrow
#

I’ve thought about getting a moped before but I realized it would be kinda useless where I live :p

#

Everything is either close enough to bike comfortably or far enough away that I’d rather drive lol

#

Plus extra license stuff which is a hassle

#

But I do kinda want a full motorcycle lol

#

I got it for free with my truck driver exam

Damn my digital dash seems to have failed

Its been intermittent for a while but seemed really dead tonight

fathom socket
timber oar

Its from a 94 Fleetwood

Mines really close to 200k miles

#

I just want it to work long enough to have a 200k celebration then idc xD

#

I can wire in a new fuel guage lol

fathom socket
#

oh man you have the only modern yacht that's yachtier than the town car

#

LT1?

timber oar
#

Indeed

fathom socket
#

fuck yeah

timber oar
#

Runs like a dream for its mileage

#

Nothing leaks

#

I've had it for 10 years at this point

#

Personally have put close to 30k miles on it

fathom socket
#

that car

#

was the last hurrah for cadillac

#

after that it was mostly FF & northstar headgaskets from midget headstuds

#

i hope you keep it clean man that car deserves it

timber oar
#

It starts fucking instantly

#

Its incredible how well that engine functions

fathom socket
#

frankly you really can't go wrong with the LT1
unless you try to get 600+ out of it with zero transmission mods

timber oar
#

Nah I'll just leave it stock

#

I can't promise the ecu and all that will stay stock xD

#

Mostly just so i can run aftermarket guages and not use a distributor

fathom socket
#

you can always steal ECU's from beat pre-catfish
don't worry about none of that lmao

#

oh you mean tuning

#

there's CHEAP tunes for that

timber oar
#

The issue with custom guages is i don't know how to extract the needed info from the og ecu

#

Its obd v1

#

I can put a new fuel guage in because that just has to connect to the sending unit

#

But i don't know for the life of me how i would add a tach or new speedometer

#

So i would legit run an aftermarket ecu just to have different guages

fathom socket
#

i actually think the c4corvette folk can help you with that

timber oar
#

Yeah i forget that engine was also in the vettes

fathom socket
#

also it's the screen that flips up and at the end the ribbon was kinda f-ed up so it didn't really turn on

308 screen flipped up

jagged coyote

oh yeah right

#

i'm always confused with the 307 308 and shit

#

peugeot numbering amiright

#

drove it a few time since i only had a 2 seater at the time and when i needed to transport more ppl

fathom socket
#

And my focus is having electrical issues

stoic ledge
#

Uhm well used to be kind of okay, in the 300 series there was the 306, then 307, then 308, but after that idk lets just keep using 308 xD
And also 405, 406, 407, all fine, then 508 huehue (yes it also kind of replaced the 607 so (407 + 607) / 2 = 507 + 1 = 508 😛 )

#

My parents had a 307 Break 1.6 16v for 9 years, no problems PogChomp

#

That fault is 99% sure just a sensor

fathom socket
#

I had 307 SW 2,0 16v for 3 weeks and I have problems

stoic ledge

Which is normal for an older car as they just tend to die xD

fathom socket
#

well the broken blinker stock and now this

stoic ledge
#

Well yeah blinker stalk is a known problem for all COM2000 cars

do you have access to an OBD2 scanner? that's what i'd use if i was in your position

307 just uses universal OBD2?

stiff burrow

^^

jagged coyote

yeah every car after the 2000s use obd2

#

i thought it was 1996

#

maybe that is just america? idk

jagged coyote
#

actually 2001 in europe

#

2001 on gas cars and 2003 on diesels

stiff burrow
#

oh ok

stoic ledge
#

My 2012 car freaks auto when I plug something in in the OBD2 port

#

But it's the LPG computer which is interfering lol, that computer has to be disconnected before it'll work

is it a VW? because it thinks it's inspection time

Well it's "factory" but still uses a 3rd party ECU

stoic ledge

||Yes that's an Alfa 156, I know||

fathom socket
#

My focus uses some proprietary thing

#

I had to buy some specific one to just read codes

Ah f

jagged coyote
#

strange, with my renault i just have a cheapo obd2 bluetooth dongle and i bought Torque a while back

fathom socket
#

It uses like pwm protocol iirc

jagged coyote
#

i would like to change some thing on an ecm but the dongle doesn't work with it tho, so i might need another one

fathom socket
#

Also I have lpg so it also freaks out

jagged coyote
stoic ledge
#

Not sure how it's for you but that's illegal here, or well DRLs on full brightness with low beam on are

#

So my car has 21W DRLs, but with low beams on those change to 5W parking lights

jagged coyote
#

I mean, i see cars with both drl and headlights on so

#

mh yeah, my drls are P21Ws too

#

well tbf i don't know if i can do it, the thing i have has alot of ECMs and i don't know which one i have

stiff burrow
#

only VWs i like is the golf gti and golf r, everything else is meh. there are some fine sedans and some fine suvs, although i am interested in the id4

i heard the bluedriver scanner was pretty good but it's expensive

my peugeot is great it can run with zero wires

youd have to bypass the fuel cut off but it would work with not a single wire

stiff burrow
#

did talonfluff say if his car was gas or diesel? after doing some research it might say that warning if the DEF/emissions additive tank is low

#

who knows for sure though

#

could be a lot of things

charred depot
#

its a engine managment light on a modern car it could be a 1000 things

stiff burrow
#

yeah

#

i just searched "pugeot 307 antipollution fault"

stoic ledge
#

Nope he has a gas model

stiff burrow
#

hm

stoic ledge
#

Iirc the 2.0 model

stiff burrow
#

a lot of these results talk about the diesel engine

charred depot
#

dpf problems are common so they will probably dominate the results

#

tonnes of people buy a modern diesel to doddle about town in

stiff burrow
#

that's true

#

some people say bad sensor or bad spark plug
just need the code to know for sure

stoic ledge
#

Step 1: buy a clean modern diesel
Step 2: remove the emissions crap
...
Profit, it'll now run forever

stiff burrow
#

true

stoic ledge
#

But yeah probably a coil, spark plug or just a sensor on the 307

stiff burrow
#

but youll end up like this

stoic ledge
#

Passed ✅

stiff burrow
#

lol

stoic ledge
#

Lol xD

#

We removed the EGR from my brothers diesel Volvo at the remap

#

Ok no not removed, just programmed it close xD

#

It's the only fail point basically on those engines

#

And on almost any modern diesel

stiff burrow
#

old diesel trucks without emissions control crap can run for a million miles or more

#

easily

#

so yeah i agree xD

charred depot
#

cant wait till I can legally drive my old diesel pug on the road

stoic ledge
#

Yeah well for example the 1.6 diesel used in Peugeot, Ford and Volvo's... They almost all break down with emissions shit in them within 200k km, but without them they literally do 1.000.000km

charred depot
#

I was going to buy another terrible car so I can start my engine swap now but I should probably just get the peugeot on the road.

Afterall it only needs brakes, windscreen and boot floor.

I'm not making it a bigger issue than it is. That's the entire reason GM has stuck with what it's done for the last 5 years in terms of how it structures its screens- while the Ford Mach E and Ram 1500 got vertical screens, all GM's vehicles have horizontal screens. Making sure that these screens aren't distracting is extremely important, and buttons keep them from becoming such.

#

There is no reason to put simple controls into a touchscreen, it's that simple. It also makes the overall vehicle less reliable.

I saw Doug's recent Hummer review, those physical controls integrated with the screen are awesome

#

Great solution from GM tbh

why did you buy a shitbox as a second car?
my son cracked the screen in my modern car and I cant afford the replacement yet

#

My car has a night function which basically disables all lights in the cluster etc except the speedo, but modern cars with these massive screens will counter that issue by just making the headlights aids bright.

#

you have night mode on the screens with brightness control

charred depot
#

still a massive area of light which has to be illuminated to some extent

#

still, a non issue on modern cars with their borderline illegal headlights

jovial mauve
#

its not illegal if it passes the APK 😛

charred depot
#

do they check brightness in your inspections, here they only check the beam

stoic ledge
#

(APK = MOT = inspection)

#

I hate modern Mini's the most

charred depot
#

because it wouldnt be the first time a production car with illegally bright headlights made it to the road from the factory.

stoic ledge
#

Those have horrendous headlights

#

I have no idea how they're legal

charred depot
#

literally if a modern cars front wheels hit a pebble that lifts the front up by 1cm you are getting blinded.

#

many modern cars*

jovial mauve
#

you have like dim function on your mirror right?

#

i never really was botheres but people often signal me thinking im using high beams

charred depot
#

yeah funnily enough I need to look ahead of me while driving though aswell

#

my windscreen is yet to get a dim function but I can see it coming with all these shite modern cars

jovial mauve
#

but then how do you like get nooyed or do you mean bu cars comming across from you?

charred depot
#

many of our roads have cars going 2 directions

#

many of times when a modern car is coming towards me its headlights are blinding especially if its front is slightly pitched up in relation to me due to road elevation changes

stoic ledge
#

Yeah don't really have an issue with cars behind me, but coming towards me quite often

#

This feels very relatable

#

That's likely because a moron kept their brights on

jovial mauve
#

looks more like they got high beams on

stoic ledge
#

No

charred depot
#

Honestly ive seen tonnes of minis just like this

stoic ledge
#

That's low beam on a Mini

#

It's horrendous

#

Yeah every new Mini I've seen is like that

#

Unless they all go high beam 100% of the time
