Rip

#

Lemme check if there is one here

stiff burrow
#

Aside from the Si, no

stoic ledge
#

Usually I know such stuff, but it sells so poorly I don't know

stiff burrow
#

Lol

stoic ledge
#

1.0T: 6MT or CVT
1.5T: 6MT or CVT
1.6d: 6MT

#

Didn't even know they still sold it with a diesel

stiff burrow
#

Is that the sedan or the hatchback

stoic ledge
#

And that's for the 5 door, we don't have a Si

#

Uhm

#

Hatchback

#

Although, that's the old Civic I think

#

The new one isn't here yet

stiff burrow
#

Oh that explains why

#

Only the civic hatchback sport offers a manual it looks like

#

Which is kinda weird

stoic ledge
#

Yeah forgot there's a new one

stiff burrow
#

The rest have a CVT

stoic ledge
#

Ah

stiff burrow
#

(Plus the Si which is manual)

stoic ledge
#

We don't have any other body variant

stiff burrow
#

Oh ok

stoic ledge
#

We did have the sedan... But that was discontinued

#

The only Honda's we can get now:

  • CRV
  • HRV
  • Civic Hatch, old model
  • e
stiff burrow
#

Oh wow they offer a lot in the states

stoic ledge
#

Ok no there's also the Jazz (Fit), my bad, forgot that one

stoic ledge
stiff burrow
#

HRV, CRV, Passport, Pilot, Civic sedan and hatchback, insight, accord, clarity, odyssey, ridgeline, and some hybrids

stoic ledge
#

Pilot, Odyssey

#

Yes, I think those are it

stiff burrow
#

Yeah I copied from their site lol

stoic ledge
#

Lol xD

#

Hmm so it looks like the US didn't get the new Honda Fit

stiff burrow
#

Yeah they got rid of it

#

There aren’t many small cars left here

stoic ledge
#

Such a shame

#

/s

stiff burrow
#

We are back to where we were 40 years ago KEKW big cars and bad mileage

#

That’s not that true though

#

The people that were driving sedans now are driving small crossovers

stoic ledge
#

It's a bit compensated with PHEV's, hybrids and EV's now I think?

stiff burrow
#

Yeah

#

There are lots of teslas, especially in big cities

#

I see a lot of bolts too

stoic ledge
#

I quite like the Bolt

stiff burrow
#

But if you leave those urban areas almost nobody has an EV

stoic ledge
#

Such a shame GM didn't want to sell them here

stiff burrow
#

I drove one a few years ago and it was quite nice :)

stoic ledge
#

Yeah I also drove it once, quite decent indeed

stiff burrow
#

Although Europe is getting some nice EV city cars like the Peugeot e208

stoic ledge
#

Haven't driven the e-208 but I have driven the Corsa-e

#

Same car just a different coat

#

Quite zippy

#

Just sad the new Corsa is waaay less spacious as the Corsa I have :/

stiff burrow
#

That sucks

stoic ledge
#

I can't fit in it properly, I'm up against the B-pillar

#

Well that's a trend with most new small cars weirdly

#

I need to get a larger car after this

#

Not because I need it, but I must because I don't fit

stiff burrow
#

kinda funny that opel ended up with Stellantis

#

They went from gm to Chrysler KEKW

stoic ledge
#

Lol, don't think they'll share a lot with Chrysler

stiff burrow
#

True

stoic ledge
#

Unless Chrysler is going to make small hatchbacks and crossovers xD

stiff burrow
#

lol

stoic ledge
#

Stellantis is actually doing quite well atm in Europe

stiff burrow
#

Yeah

stoic ledge
#

Especially Opel and Peugeot with their new models, sales are going very well

#

And they look quite good

stiff burrow
#

I think it’s kind of sad that GM pulled out of Europe but at the same time they had no clue what they were doing KEKW

stoic ledge
#

Well tbh, I'm also sad in one way Opel doesn't have the "freedom" anymore they had under GM

#

Some things they could do differently, which they now can't

#

Mostly just stupid stuff

stiff burrow
#

Yeah

stoic ledge
#

But like indicator and wiper stalks are now Peugeot stuff which is just inferior to what Opel used

#

Small things like that

stiff burrow
#

People bemoan GM interiors but I think they aren’t bad, and it’s better than what some other brands are doing

stoic ledge
#

But Opel was loosing money for over 20 years, and within 1.5 year under PSA they're making a profit

stiff burrow
#

And with Holden being gone there’s no more fun stuff like the monaro vxr or Chevy SS 😢

#

True

stiff burrow
#

Yeah

#

Chrysler too in the states

stoic ledge
#

I do really want an Opel Insignia (Buick Regal)... The last GM Opel and I think it's the best Opel in like 20 years or so

#

They saved the best for last

stiff burrow
#

Especially the charger and challenger 🤢

#

I wanted a Buick Regal tourx for a while, too bad they discontinued that car

#

GM’s big problem is it makes cool stuff but then doesn’t advertise it

fathom socket
#

I wante another Focus mk1

stoic ledge
#

I want a TourX but without the cladding xD

stiff burrow
#

The focus mk1 looks kinda derpy though

fathom socket
#

my Puegeout already has electrical problems

stoic ledge
#

Like this

stiff burrow
stoic ledge
stiff burrow
stoic ledge
#

We had a 307 for 10 years with 0 electrical issues KEKW

fathom socket
#

seat heater broke

#

and the blinkers have issues

stoic ledge
stiff burrow
stoic ledge
#

200hp tho

stoic ledge
stoic ledge
stiff burrow
#

Ultimate GM wagon is the CTS-V tho

#

I want one of those

stoic ledge
#

That's a known issue, contacts wear out in the headlights

stoic ledge
stoic ledge
fathom socket
stoic ledge
#

Also you know why the Buick Regal is discontinued?

fathom socket
#

at least when turning the wheel

stoic ledge
#

As it's an Opel, and GM doesn't want to pay PSA for it 😛

stoic ledge
stiff burrow
#

I didn’t know that, interesting

#

v wagons are like 50k+ for a good one :(

stoic ledge
#

We even got a facelifted Insignia

fathom socket
#

so I guess I need the entire stock thingy

stoic ledge
stiff burrow
stoic ledge
stoic ledge
#

One of the few modern cars I also fit in extremely well

#

I also sat in a Ford Mondeo recently (Fusion), but the seat can't go low enough for me. And when I'm sitting comfortably, no one can sit behind me. In the Insignia, loads of space

stoic ledge
dense shard
#

They were maybe on par with Ford at the time... maybe.

stiff burrow
dense shard
#

They're still behind the foreign competition imo

#

GM's design language remains 20 years outdated, Ford's looks like it's recycled from what Nissan used 15 years ago, and Chrysler is recycled mercedes from the early 00s. The cost cutting era.

stiff burrow
#

I agree with you

dense shard
#

Not that the Americans make cars anymore apart from Chrysler in the US these days.

stiff burrow
#

Although I think people complain too much about the quality of interior materials. I care about the quality of the buttons, the seats, the wheel and the shifter but not really anything else

#

It’s silly to say one car is worse than another because it has “creaky plastic” or “not enough soft touch,” are you really going to be touching that anyway?

civic girder
#

soft touch is a meme

#

but there is definitely low quality surfaces

#

My biggest gripe about my Honda's interior is it looks and feels cheap

#

The plastics look cheap af, and it has some weird material in some spots that scratch extremely easily. The cloth materials feel nice, but look cheap as fuck

#

ironically the car costs more than the Corolla Hybrid, and I thought the Corolla Hybrid had a much more premium feeling interior

charred depot

the lift cable has only broken once

viscid atlas
#

that doesnt give me a good feeling

#

@civic girder ive been in the shittiest to the best road cars, and the only interiors that havent felt cheap to me so far has been porsche and audi

#

and not gonna lie even my S13s redone interior felt better than some of the newer hondas and toyotas

fathom socket
#

So today I've tried to get in someone's else car

#

All puegeots 307 sw look the same

#

I was wondering why my car wouldn't open

viscid atlas

lol

#

not many people drive 997.1s around here so i have never tried to get into someone elses car

stiff burrow
charred depot

I tend to read car plates so even if my car wasnt as rare as it is I doubt id do it

#

I love spotting unmarked police cars

stoic ledge

Never had that happen to me before PogChomp

Dude i swear if you have a nice car everyone thinka your either rich or drug dealer

#

Co workers haha funny you sold some kg's

#

Like bruh

stoic ledge
#

Makes sense KEKW

#

Also them judging from their company car which is more expensive probably

jovial mauve
#

Yeah but they are old

#

Lets talk sticker price from back in the day 🤣

#

I mean it was still expenaive 2nd hand tho

civic girder
eager grove
#

The interior in the Mach e, the maverick, the bronco, the F150 lightning have all gotten high praise

#

The maverick has one of the the nicest interiors of any vehicle at its price point

civic girder
#

The Mach E is mediocre

#

interior wise. But I only sat in it once

eager grove
#

Interior wise? I suppose that’s fair

civic girder
#

I'll be able to give a more thorough review when my dad's Mach E finally gets through production

eager grove
#

Infotainment and gauge cluster are pretty good, but you’re right. There’s some cost cutting at that price point which is unsurprising in a new electric car

civic girder
#

my dad's Ford Fusion on the other hand, that interior is garbage

eager grove
#

But in terms of like soft touch and stuff, the maverick seems to strike a really good balance between cost cutting and looking nice

civic girder
#

the materials feel nice, but the layout is abysmal and the build quality is eh

eager grove
#

My mate has a puma he rated highly

civic girder
#

even my dad has grown to somewhat hate the fusion

#

it only has 50k miles but he's been dailying my mom's van lately

eager grove
#

What van?

civic girder
#

he wants to sign the fusion over to one of my siblings as soon as his Mach E shows up

civic girder
eager grove
#

Good van

#

I cannot understand why the new Kia Carnival isn’t a hybrid. So dumb

civic girder
#

Leagues better than the gas only model. Still suffers some of Chrylser's general cost cutting shit, and the rotary dial shift knob is the dumbest thing invented for a car

eager grove
#

Worse than a hunt and peck shifter?

civic girder
#

But otherwise it's a great van

eager grove
#

I’ve never used either but my parents get on fine with their rotary shifter

civic girder
#

if it will embed

#

these things suck so bad

eager grove
#

More than the button ones?

civic girder
#

they're not nearly notchy enough and you can't accurately just shove it in gear

civic girder
eager grove
#

Fair enough- I suppose rotary shifters are not all created equally

#

I’ve never had an automatic. I drove a golf r wagon the other day and that had a normal stick shifter for the automatic, which I like because you can do it without looking

stoic ledge
#

New Golf's have like a toggle switch of an inch tall

eager grove
#

Yeah those are weird too

stoic ledge
eager grove
#

Clit shifter

civic girder
#

yeah the linear sliders for automatics are way better than anything else

#

notchy and predictable

#

plus you can typically slide from reverse to drive without using the release lever, which is just so convenient

#

plus you can easily change between neutral and drive the same way

#

the weird ass tree shifters and column shifters aren't too bad. Column shifters can be super annoying tho bc they're not the most predictable and don't feature the same lockouts that linear shifters have

#

this is what I mean by "tree" shifter

stoic ledge
#

Yeah best are just those in "1 line" imho

stiff burrow
#

the shifter in my car would give you guys an aneurysm 😂

#

i like the gated automatics, no button to press

#

you just move it

#

same with column shifters

#

dial shifters suck tho

stoic ledge
#

I'll just keep this PogChomp

stiff burrow
#

sorry i live in a country where almost no cars come with a maual side from cheap shitboxes or expensive, unpractial sports cars 🤷‍♂️

#

and a few hot hatch type cars but those are slowly becoming auto too

stoic ledge
#

Yeah it's also beginning to get harder here to find a new car with a manual unless you keep it to the smaller segments

#

If you go a bit larger, you have a manual on the base engine sometimes, or no manual at all

charred depot
#

Saab lost power so I put my foot to the floor while in second and it suddenly burst to life as I zoomed away from the police car behind

stiff burrow
#

yeah, here if you want anything but the base spec you probably have to get auto. there are a few exceptions tho

#

all camaros come with a manual and i think you can get a manual in all mustangs but the gt500

charred depot
#

Still mostly manual up here even crossover clowns

stiff burrow
#

and theres stuff like a few honda civic trims, chevy spark, a few hyundais, m3, the blackwings, probably some more

#

miata

stoic ledge
#

If I had the choice I'd still go for a manual

charred depot
#

Most small / medium used car lots around here dont even stock automatics as they dont move.

stiff burrow
#

plus most people just dont care here if the car is auto or manual

jovial mauve
charred depot
#

My parents dont care for a manual its just what they are used to and the way things are here.

stiff burrow
#

driving is a chore to a lot of people, and you drive because you have to not because you want to

stoic ledge
stoic ledge
#
  • near the coast there are more company car, many company car buyers now go for autos
stiff burrow
#

did you guys have to learn manual for your drivers license

charred depot
#

if we dont we cant drive a manual

stoic ledge
#

We have to otherwise we can't drive manuals

stiff burrow
#

lol

charred depot
#

Im rocking old shitty cars aslong as I can so the first automatic I see will be an EV

stiff burrow
#

makes sense

#

i want to buy a miata at some point so learning to drive manual will be a "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" deal

charred depot
#

Something about a car which if I hadnt of wasted too much time on it would be in the scrapyard. It is worthless I could drive it into a wall and be at little loss but I do love it too much to do that.

stoic ledge
#

If you pass your test in an automatic, you get a special note on your drivers license which states you are only allowed to drive vehicles with an automatic transmission

fathom socket
#

true

stoic ledge
#

And as 90% or something like that used to be manuals, people got a drivers license for a manual.

#

And even today as a new driver, most go for a manual license as often 1st cars are still manuals

That’s such a circle jerk

It’s so old

jovial mauve

It is

charred depot

You just told us you havent driven one

stiff burrow
#

Yeah I haven’t

#

But I know it’s a circlejerk

charred depot
#

So it is not more engaging at all?

jovial mauve
#

You can shit manually in automatic as well with pedals etc thats even cooler

#

And for everyday driving ans traffic jams, auto all day every day

charred depot
#

bit pointless though isnt it

stiff burrow
#

I don’t know, can’t tell you. But from my perspective it’s just people who think they’re the best because they drive manual

stoic ledge
#

Imho

stoic ledge
jovial mauve
#

To each his own i gues haha, i would never go back to manual i think

#

Ah im in 2 per day if i go to the office hahaha

stiff burrow
#

Or saying that they’re better drivers because manual

#

That’s ridiculous

charred depot
#

I drive alot while slightly tired so that little extra bit of engagement and consideration.

stoic ledge
#

But that's not the case for me

jovial mauve
#

i just like how it drives, granted i have never driven a "slow" auto

#

Only dual clutches i think

stiff burrow
#

Dual clutch is great

jovial mauve
#

Not slow car, but slow auto that shifts slower then manual

charred depot
#

when the DCT service is

stoic ledge
#

I also rather have a nice slushbox (ZF 8HP or something like that) than a DCT, but that's just personal preference

stiff burrow
#

My car has a 10 speed “slushbox” and in the sport tuning mode it shifts as fast as a PDK or DCT.

#

Plus the advantages of having a torque converter

#

Doesn’t downshift very quickly though

jovial mauve
#

DCT is dual clutch shortcut?

stiff burrow
#

Yeah

stoic ledge
#

Yes

jovial mauve
#

Hmm i never really had any high costs on my DSG's

charred depot
#

how old your car

jovial mauve
#

Just maintain them

#

What me?

charred depot
#

yes

jovial mauve
#

My car now is from 2012 but it has s tronic, i thibk its DSG rebranded not sure tho

charred depot
#

well id hope it would last 9 years

stoic ledge
jovial mauve
#

I have had a 17 a clasa with DCT and a golf R with DSG

stoic ledge
#

I've even seen them getting replaced and being broken again within 5k km

jovial mauve
charred depot
#

as in your car is young

#

its not too amazing you havent had issues

stoic ledge
#

The wet clutch DSG's are way better

jovial mauve
#

Ah okay i mean thats fair

#

Im just speaking from my expierence with them

#

My polo gti was manuel tho

charred depot
#

I do a fair bit of stop and go traffic now but it doesent bother me too much as my job involves pulling and carrying cable

#

clutch feels like it doesent exist by the time I get out of work

stiff burrow
#

I had a Tahoe with the 4 speed, that transmission/engine combo wasn’t too bad

#

Perfect for towing stuff which I occasionally did at the time

charred depot
#

sad fuel economy noises

stiff burrow
#

That was like 2012

charred depot
#

still heh

#

I miss the days of 40mpg but that car annoyed and bored me to death

eager grove
#

I’ve always driven manuals, but definitely want an automatic next. My car being manual doesn’t give me any additional engagement, though I know a lot enthusiasts think so

stiff burrow
eager grove
#

Driving a DSG in non sport mode would probably take some getting used to- when you’re expecting instant response

charred depot
#

Drive a car with no brakes and youll be glad its a manual theres an advantage

stiff burrow
#

How often would you run into that though

#

Plus autos let you go into manual mode and choose a gear

charred depot
#

could the torque converter not disengage if the engine speed went too low

#

me, once in 2-3 years of driving

#

In my case I could just turn my car off to bring it to a pretty fast stop

stiff burrow
#

True

charred depot
#

often vastly cheaper insurance for manuals for whatever reason be it vehicle cost or driver data

stoic ledge
#

Probably as they're cheaper ?

charred depot
#

another thing is over here if you have an automatic license and you insure an automatic, you will pay more than a "full"(manual) license holder insuring an automatic

vocal mural
charred depot
#

I believe that got stopped a few years back

#

it was a very stark difference back when it was a thing though

vocal mural
#

I am glad that I have a nearly full B license (without E)

vocal mural
#

In my opinion they should give restriction code 69 to people who have been caught driving drunk multiple times

stoic ledge

vocal mural
#

I know that in Sweden all work vehicles have alcohol lock. Even police cars and ambulances

solid forge
#

I CAN HAZ CARS?

crisp elbow
# eager grove Yes, this became illegal

I wish they would do that here In Canada lol.

I pay more as a 23 yr old male then a 23 yr old female would, and I drive for a living doen some pretty shitty roads

eager grove
#

It’s an odds game!

crisp elbow
#

Very true

eager grove
#

Like they literally take all the variables and stats they have access to

#

And minimax them or whatever to give you a price

crisp elbow
#

It's neat learning what happens elsewhere tho.

Like the whole manual vs auto license that's new to me kinda makes sense but also weird.

I went from a 2013 gti dsg to a 2019 gti 6mt, I couldn't imagine having to retake my license just to drive my new car

eager grove
#

But over here gender is a protected category so it ran afoul of discrimination legislation. Can’t discriminate by gender, sexuality, race or nationality

crisp elbow
#

Which makes 100% sense. That's how it should be

eager grove
crisp elbow
#

Makes sense, I just woke up might have not read everything 100% haha.

eager grove
#

Over here people do 20-40 hours with an instructor on average before they can pass their test and drive alone.

crisp elbow
#

Man that would save a whole lot of headaches haha

#

It's ridiculous how many people just Get there licenses here.

stoic ledge
#

You aren't even allowed to learn with your parents or anything

#

Learning with an instructor is kind of mandated in that way

crisp elbow
#

You do a learners test at like 14 and drove with someone 18yrs or older until your 16 then you get your probationary full license some rules and stipulations until your 18 then you can get your 100% full license

stoic ledge
#

I had 30hrs of lessons, average is 40-45

crisp elbow
#

Man we need that here

charred depot
#

You can learn with you parents in the uk but fuck that

crisp elbow
#

I litteraly don't need any time behind the wheel to get my licenses

#

I could just wing it all

stoic ledge
#

Well you can try to take a test without any lessons, but 100% you won't pass xD

crisp elbow
#

I passed all my tests first try, but the amount of people I know that have had to redo them 3,4 or 5 times is nuts

stoic ledge
#

Hell, instructors won't even risk to take you to an exam without them having instructed you themselves for a few lessons

#

I also passed both theoretical and practical exam first try

charred depot
#

Last I checked most people fail the first time over here

crisp elbow
#

Yall should come here and drive around for a day, I'm suprised I haven't gone bald yet ripping my hair out in frustration

charred depot
#

Theres no way I wasnt failing the first time with my nerves

crisp elbow
#

I'm by no means the best driver but the practice and time and skill I've learnt and put behind the wheel just driving, finding open lots and putting myself in "situations" and driving for my job I'm better then most of the population in my province lmao.

Makes me really want the gov't to rethink our driving standards

charred depot
#

I take it you are in the US

crisp elbow
#

Canada

charred depot

Same thing :^)

crisp elbow

stoic ledge

crisp elbow
#

*glorious *

#

Im so glad we do not need front plates

#

Now i wish i could just get rid of the rear Lmao

stoic ledge
#

I'm so used to it now

#

My front bumper even has a specific cutout for it

#

So without it, it would just look weird

crisp elbow
#

Yea thats fair

stoic ledge
#

It's just integrated in the design lol

#

And bright yellow KEKW

crisp elbow
#

I thought our color scheme was bad

#

Red on white lol

stoic ledge
#

Most countries in Europe have white plates

crisp elbow
#

Netherlands?

stoic ledge

🇳🇱 was like "Nah fam, Bright yellow it is"

#

Yes

Although actually I'm now also used to the yellow plates so I find it better than white plates, especially on white cars PogChomp

crisp elbow

stoic ledge

Well most Micra's of that age have rust so if it's only paint, it's not too bad

crisp elbow
#

Hahaha the bright side of things

stoic ledge
#

Btw your Mk7 GTI... Doesn't it have like a different engine then in Europe?

crisp elbow
#

Um I'm not to sure

#

All i know is its gen 3 EA888 with performance pack option so like 238bhp

stoic ledge
#

Hmm Wikipedia isn't clear about it

#

Lemme check what Europe had

crisp elbow
#

I think the main thing is just petrol difference

#

In Europe & ROW : Recommended is (97 RON (93-94 AKI) ) and minimum is 95 RON (~90-91 AKI) for reduced performance. 93 AKI surprisingly is not available in some parts of the USA so cannot be used as a base to estimate power output nationwide unless VW wants to risk a lawsuit.

In USA /Canada: Recommended is (91 AKI (95 RON) ) and minimum is (87 AKI) for reduced performance. 87 AKI is not available in most of the world.

#

Mine has only ever seen 95 and 97 Ron (91-94aki)

stoic ledge
#

I do know the European models have a separate set of injectors in the inlet

#

Which I think the US model doesn't have

crisp elbow
#

Noep the don't, at least mine doesn't haha. Haven't seen one since I've had my hands in there.

Some Audi's and other models do but not the vw

stoic ledge
#

Yeah to European GTI's have both MPI as direct injection

#

That's probably the main difference

crisp elbow
#

The difference between Canadian and USA cars is crazy too Tho, America. Got shafted with them for 5he most part haha

stoic ledge
