Props on you for budgeting repairs.
The amount of money I've spend on my car since I bought it 5.5 years ago (excl. purchase price)

(fuel, tax, insurance, maintenance, repairs, tires... Everything)
The sad part is, ⅓ of it is insurance, and ⅕ of it tax. So over half (58%) of it is insurance and tax
Why shouldnt I buy a £800 BMW with 190k miles on it
no serbice history
if its made it to 190k atleast you know its had some servicing heh
Yeah
Old plastic breaking down in my 450k S10 pick up.
Should I just replace them or keep it like it is
The top dash air vents are cracked
It's an ez pass holder
I have the lowest Volkswagen at my school lol
Probably gonna lower the back a bit, front is as low as I'm comfortable with for daily driving
Don't want to notch the framerails to clear the axles lol
If you like to damage your car at speed humps
I had a lowered car and the winter here said no lol
And I like VW
Today's trip will be echternach
I have my driving license a week now and I have already driven 500km
40km in a Citroën C1
40km in a VW Up!
120km in a Seat Leon
300km in a VW Transporter T4
I had to drive a transporter once and it still is the worst thing I've driven, barely moved when you floored it
It was the best I had driven so far
75KW 2,5L 5cil
The old ones is quite good
I don't remember what engine the one I drove had but merging to the highway was a nightmare
You probably drove a 2.0
2.0 do b like dat
but 2.5 is surprisingly quick for a transporter
I remember my driving instructor being like "you need to accelerate to the highway" and I just looked at him and said "I'm flooring it on second gear"
lmao
He didn't believe me until he tried it himself
tbh that transporter may have some issues
For your BE license?
Or regular B?
Just B
Who knows, it was 3 years ago and the transporter was quite new
The Audi or Peugeot?
2005 A3 with the 2.0 tfsi
If I drove the peugeot why would I have the audi in front of it when taking the picture lol

I need one of those for the Pennsylvania turnpike

Winter tires coming soon
slicks
drag racing time
im glad i dont need to deal with seasonal tires
same. all season tires ftw
i'd love to see ur gar lol
car
From 1 October if I mind correctly
what could've been... https://www.reddit.com/r/spotted/comments/q1l3q8/gm_ev1_in_storage_at_my_university/
Just a small hatchback lol
Yeah sad :(
No, I rent them
But the trip to Sweden I will do on my fathers VW T4
Oh ok
I got an Aygo as a loaner car once (same as C1/107), hated it
Didn't even have central locking, only 2 speakers, manual windows, not even a rev counter
Sounds like quality
Also stirring in a soup gives more feedback than using the shifter in an Aygo, it's just a guessing game tbh
My car had central locking but it didnt like me
It would hold the actuator to stop me from unlocking the door
With the key
My viewing when I went to buy it was cut off because the car locked me out
Youd have to risk breaking the key in the lock when it did it so i justtook the fuse out

central locking overrated
why would you ever want to unlock any door other than the drivers?
Just get long arms smh
most of my door lock actuators are shot and its about $500 a door in parts and labor to fix it. not worth it for my shitbox
Insert Opel hate here
Guess the car
Insert Peugeot hate here
I hate all cars made by PSA
stellantis moment
What do you have?
Still better than any VAG product
Stfu
I had more problems with C1 than Up
le fiat
Pre 2019?
2004
Than it is good
Some crazy dude kicked my truck 😭
Look how clean and no rust it has at 450k miles and some dude just puts a dent to it I'm heartbroken now
Yeah sad to see :/
thats not hard to fix
Maybe you can hammer it out from the inside?
Or super strong suction cups o: ?
That might take the paint with it...
Oof yeah
The clear coat on it it's perfect
Yeah don't wanna take that away lol
no rust no scratches well there's a dent that has scratches grr
Oh well
I can try
Theres another metal sheet that blocks the way I'll see if my neighbor will help
He's a retired body shop
That'd be nice
I can't believe that happened today I feel bad for you car owners out there
👀
We had a guy here in town who went through our little village drunk and high the day after Christmas... Damaged 4 cars including my parents
They actually found the guy
Determined him guilty
But he didn't have to pay for the damages
Gotta love it
the motor mounts dont help :^( each time I let off a bit to stop the tyres spinning so much the motor is rattled
I think my soul left my body for a second
nah it'll be fine
In other news my alignment got messed up by a bad pothole today lol
My car wouldnt even be able to leave my driveway that low
Like, it's out by a few degrees lol
oof i bent my shock from a pot hole KEK
Very sad, but wtf is that paint job
It's a lot
its a cool paint job
https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/pi885w/thoughts/ heres a better pic
nice jetta bro
Definitely wouldn't have been my choice lol
well yyeah its not your car
10/10 epic
Exactly, he's free to paint it how he likes 🙃
rear end tucks in lots when the front is jacked up
if only it would keep that fitment
900S for sport? 😛
Standard I guess heh

this is poverty spec one
£350 for insurance tho
vs like a grand for the turbo one
what can they possibly take away
Under General Motors, Saab was repositioned as a luxury marque. This meant that the NG900 would be positioned, and priced, above the Opel Vectra, with which it shared its chassis platform. It would also make the bottom-of-the-range 900i more expensive than the Vectra. This led to cost-reduction measures for the 900i. The 900i would lose its rear-window wiper, the exclusive Saab Information Display, and would utilize a different instrument layout with a mechanical odometer instead of a digital one; first versions were even lacking tachometer. The NG900i would also lose its rear spoiler.```
well ive lost my rear window wiper

it worked for like 1 wipe
then just fell down back the of the car
good start to my ownership of it
LOL nice
it just rests there now, I may remove it
Arent the gm ones the worse? Like.. didn't gm nearly killed the brand
The finances behind it were bad (probably as GM used their research centre for other brands), the vehicles were generally quite good (ofc there are always some exceptions)
Idk the only opel people really talk about when they talk about nice ones
Is the manta
Where I don't even know if it was ever a thing outside of Germany
Oh ye new kids was dutch
Maaskantje jonguh
Then again the dutch are.. just weird germans :)

Maybe hope that psa or stellaris or whatever the french are doing will make something nice woth them 👀
Tbh the Corsa F is quite nice, new Astra also looks quite good
Curious to see what they'll do with the Insignia
Stellaris sounds great give opel to paradox, ac is now a dlc
Wait what?
Not all Dutch people is so, new kids contains Brabanders
now i want frikandel speciaal
I don't like Frikandel Speciaal as I don't like the massive amount of unions
Modern car so called dipped beams
its like they set them not considering roads are not perfectly flat
literally with them at the top of a 1 degree hill your retinas have been commandeered.
then combine it with eye piercing pure white
I get blinded by those by both going uphill and downhill
Yesterday evening I was on a flat bit and a BMW X5 coming towards me uphill, holy 💩 it blinded me like crazy
"Some of you will be blinded, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make"
this is where the harness melted by the way, thats my ABS module, and I have NO clue as to what would have caused it in this area, except maybe a failing abs module. I did notice the brake pedal felt a bit off, so maybe it was going bad
Man, Ford really are killing it. Four brand new vehicles with pretty compelling markets and price points all in like an 18 month span- Bronco, Maverick, Lightning, Mach-E
Chip shortage meaning they aren’t shifting as many as they could but all four of those have had like 100k+ preorders, which is insane
can someone reccomend me a "first car" 😅
i dont want a truck 😂
i mean, my honda fit has done me great the past 4 years. could not be happier
Or that one
I never had a first car I just own a truck that can do 32 miles per gallon highway
A Honda Accord is something you might want it's a 4 cylinder engine that won't let you down it can last pretty well
yeah, i was gonna say something like that. an accord or a civic or something similar would be great as well
also probably easier to find parts for as well if something does ever go wrong
Yeah
Mazda mx5
I had to replace the whole computer module in my 2003 S10 because when I use the AC compressor the computer thinks the engine is overheating lol
So now it has a 2004 S10 computer module when you put the scan in
Works better now
For some reason my 18 year old alternator died due to cold weather and no longer charge the battery enough and replaced it and now i get 4 more miles per gallon
:kekw:

There
My dad's preorder for a 2021 Mach-E is getting converted to a 2022 model order. He just got an email from Ford today
kia infront doesent like the person infront of them doing 17 under the limit
they engage in a little tailgating
People like to rip on GM vehicles, but they’re generally good. Same with Chrysler, really.
I broke my rule of making sure to run an insurance quote before getting invested in purchasing a car
I was ready, why the fuck is it £2k to insure a poojo 205 1.8D
for reference thats more than a E46 325i
Corolla
I would avoid Accords with the 4 speed automatics. Those had a tendency to blow up.
I only know the old ones not too sure about the new ones lol
If modern cars would stop using plastic components smh
They would break less often
Plastic car parts explained and why they're stupid. Metal vs plastic car parts with Scotty Kilmer. There are advantages to using cheap plastic parts in modern cars, but also a lot of downsides. Car parts explained and why plastic is bad. Plastic car vs metal car and stupid stuff. DIY car repair with Scotty Kilmer, an auto mechanic for the last 5...
Scotty is full of shit tho
Composites are also lighter, and few if any cars use plastics as a structural part.
Allows for more complex shapes to be formed. Allow for more aerodynamic cars.
Also his freaking Celica has a lot of plastic.
painfully clickbait, cripes
Oh lol well I'm not familiar with that channel as often but I hate that I had to replace the plastic part that runs the water pump and I replaced it with a aluminum one and still holds for 6 years after replacing it
The belt Snapped and broke the plastic so it wasn't it's fault actually
But I can't trust new cars these days I see them pull over broken down every day at the highway.
He has a hint of being correct, but his delivery is just tragic. Yeah perhaps you shouldn't use plastic in moving parts, but a thermostat has one moving part. Properly designed... shouldn't break.
I see old cars on the side of roads.
Or people don't know how to use them well and they don't last very well
A modern car will outlast anything from 40 years ago hands down.
If you take care of it lol
And anything has a fair chance of hitting 250k if properly maintained.
But modern cars have a better chance if current trends are anything to go on.
Well I never own a modern car before rip
Average age of cars on the road right now are pushing 13 years.
My truck is 18 years old at 450k I feel nervous driving it so I drive it like an old man during work use hoping the engine does not break down.
Well it smells and sounds normal but I know for a fact at 450k those pistons are probably worned down big time
taking it easy is another good way ¯_(ツ)_/¯
And when its time, just rebuild the engine lol, especially if everything else is as good as it sounds.
It's my grandfathers truck he died years ago and I'm his replacement to keep this truck alive.
I just know the Corolla is likely the last manual I will ever buy.
But today some guy dent it by kicking it I was upset
I'll break his leg when I see him that will teach him a lesson
With a masonry sledgehammer
But no that's childish lol
very, but you have every right to be angry
Only person who can put a dent in my car is me.
Unless it's the Jeep. In which case I hope it was worth it.
I driven that truck to California to Virginia for a summer vacation for the fun of it
For no reason lol
Yeah
Me too but gas prices geez
$3.40 on regular that's like 93 2 years ago

Took this picture of late 2019 when the virus hit
So cheap
I think it's the same price in 1990s
Anyway I'll need sleep got work tomorrow and I'll feel sad driving my truck to work in the morning with a dent that I didn't do grrr
Diesel is expensive as fuck, I drive about 25k per year as well.
I'm just glad my boss pays diesel for the work truck I have
48 gallons of diesel is a nightmare in a f250 we use to carry 4500 bricks in the truck bed.
I will say, modern cars can be just as unreliable as old cars
Yep they are all mechanical nothing can't last long
People will still be stupid. People will still ignore all the idiot lights. People will still find ways to inadvertently break shit
We don't last long either
and there have also been huge strings of widespread design flaws and factory fuckups
Oh I ignore them lmao check engine light is been there for 16 years
so in all reality, new cars aren't that much better than old cars in the sense of longevity and reliability
They have traded higher build quality for more features and better safety
Now, if the car is taken care of properly, a new car would 10/10 times last longer than a old car ever could
Both will last equally long, but the old car will take exponentially more work to keep running.
idk, even my brand new Honda feels like the interior plastics are cheap and flimsy compared to my 90s Toyotas
New semi trucks like 2018 and 2019 already has 2 million miles lol
They travel all over the place
Can't speak for Honda, but my Corolla feels hella well built.
No creaking, soft touch plastics in most places.
I would agree. I had a 2021 Corolla rental for a while and it was definitely not as cheap feeling as my Honda
Feels substantial on the road.
... because it kinda is.
Imagine weighing 3000 pounds and still feeling flimsy.
This meme brought to you by the FCA gang.
The Honda rides well and drives well, but it feels like it could be....better
Just don't let people hurt your taken care cars :(
The new HB styling is growing on me.
Tho the front end is kinda... huge.
Works for Mazda, not sure I feel it for Honda.
Like, my mom's Chrysler van has more damn information and its 2 years older.
Why doesn't my Honda display oil pressure, temperature, and tell me what my tire pressure is? Or even at a bare minimum, my coolant temp?
Is it true that you have to drive them hard on the rx7 and 8 because I was told that the rotary engines hate to idle and low rpms ?
It is a difficult question to answer tbh
And primarily depends on how you define "drive them hard"
Like it needs high revs to keep the engine working properly lol
Oil pressure and temp I know I don't need. I expect Toyota to do it right.
Yes, you need to rev out a rotary engine. But technically speaking you do not need to drive the car hard
Coolant temp... no clue why people are omitting that.
Also yeah. Tire pressure monitoring is a thing. Gimmie numbers brah
I like my data, especially when I get the taste for it. Like a shark that has smelt blood
I know it's low, but which one?!
I know lol but you can floor it a little bit once awhile
You should see how I drive my RX-7
I wanted to drive one :p
my car's "tour" gauge style doesn't show engine temp, weird considering the other styles do
Flames and booms
My Jeep gives me oil pressure and volt-o-meter. Probably because Chrysler knew that was something that would have to be monitored.
I both maximize my fuel economy and rev the fuck out of that poor little 12A
I'm going to add a shit ton of gauges to my van lmao
Jeep will get an aftermarket voltage/charging guage.
I actually do own a rotary. It's a chainsaw from 1978 lmao
I don't trust the OEM one.
all it has is coolant temp, not even a tach.
I'm going to add oil temp, oil pressure, boost/vacuum, and trans temp
I don't blame you, I'm just saying 😂
sounds like a weed whacker 😂
Jeep will serve me well, but she's meant to last 3 years max.
its got an exhaust leak. Should sound more like a beehive
If I can sell for 2000 or so, I can get some of that cost back.
What about the Toyota Hilux diesel and I have a hard time believing it still runs after it fell down from a collapse building
the us never got the hilux
So it's rare wot!
we got the "Toyota Truck" and the Tacoma instead
There was one channel that he had one and breaks it I was heart broken
Like why?!?
I mean he says it's the most instructable truck he ever tested after braking other trucks. I haven't cried so much for the hilux
😏
how are you shifting while recording and steering
my alignment is good so it drives straight when I take my hand off the wheel to shift
oh
This is a Hyundai Genesis 2012 2.0T it's a fun car to drive
It's actually my mothers car and I'm glad she lets me drive it when I see her for a visit lol. I put about 40% throttle to the gas pedal.
My mums car is one of my cars but its too expensive to have me on the insurance so I cant drive it :^(
Sadly she wanted a manual version of the Genesis coupe but her legs are not in great shape
Wot
That's messed up man
Her original company wanted to go from £160/y to £1500/y to have me on the insurance
I pay £350/y for my policy on the powerhouse that is the saab
Oof
I have fully comp insurance but my excess is greater than the value of the car
Well we all drive old cars I don't even own a modern car just an old truck with high miles
And oh lol
People kept telling me you need a new car and I say well there's nothing wrong with my old one it still passes inspection without back up lights

I don't even have power windows and mirrors you use your hands but I'm super lucky my ac blows cold still
No AC to go wrong on mines
if someone told me I need a new car, I'd tell them to fuck off
I either already know, its not my primary car, or I flat out don't want to replace it yet/ever
I want to get an old diesel as a second car for mpgees
Insurance for alot of them is proving problematic
What if my 450k engine breaks and I replaced it with a new engine I save money than buying a new vehicle that cost 5 times as much due to vehicle shortage.
I think I'll do that lol
im saying good bye to my m3 this year and moving to something better.
good 4 years of memory
Aw :(
My dream bmw is the M3 from 2005
yeah time for an upgrade haha
Need for speed most wanted
mine is a 2017 m3.
Oh c:
i have a over spec glc300 and 2017 highlander SE
i have few ideas in mind already but we will see though.. cars also more expensive than ever. But as i'm taking a new job soon, i want to reward myself.
Good times with the BMW being the best car in the game in 2005 lol
https://c.tenor.com/aRXskPQv7gQAAAAM/need-for-speed-nfs.gif
Oh gotcha :3
Hope that goes well for you man
once i find something, then the m3 is going away. the idea of getting the new m3 is also on the list.
but also could be a used amg gt
Why get rid of a car you've only had for 4 years
watching the schumacher netflix film rn
Exactly
Hey Sim Racers, have you ever heard of a company called PXN? They make a wheel and pedal set, but idk anything about the company or quality, at all
PXN-V9 Wired Game Racing Steering Wheel with Shifter and Pedals for PC/PS3/PS4/XBOX ONE/XBOX 360/SWITCH Compatible with multiple platforms on PC/PS3/PS4/XBOX ONE/SWITCH. Intelligent double core for two modes of X-input and D-input on PC. Fit for different racing games. Rotation angle adjustable from 270。to 900 °. Suppo
Normally, I would go for a Logitech G920 setup, but it is 5 times the MSRP anywhere here and this company is a lot more available
Could y'all tell me if you've ever heard of it and your experiences with it?
It says it has vibration motors but nothing about force feedback
id make sure it isnt just a spring
Yeah seems to have no force feedback so it will be nothing like the G920
suction cups over proper clamps give that away too
I think this review is quite thorough
https://www.ocsimracing.com/reviews/pxn-v9-review
But yeah no force feedback
I have momo racing from logitech.. Is shit wheel
I have Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari
I found it better than the logitech g27 that broke before
you should get the 6 speed shifter if you haven't already. it's worth it
The thrustmaster one at the same pricepoint as the g920 has smoother FF i've heard, but i think it costs more to have 3 pedals
yeah, i dont think the higher end thrustmaster wheels come with pedals out of the box
i could be wrong
cold start this morning
Why is the horn beeping
murrican cars like to go bep bep
probably a fun with to annoy neighbours leaving late at night
Remote start is also an American thing.
Remote lock
family cars!
I love the color
Thank you
I’m thinking about putting an aftermarket exhaust on my car, the stock one is kinda lame
This guy is selling one that sounds pretty good https://youtu.be/0teXvWXM0c8
RPE stage 3+ cold start
American cars honk when you press the lock button on the remote twice, it's to let you know if your far away that the car actually locked.
American cars also have remote start, and the remote start sequence on a GM vehicle requires you to press the lock button twice and hold down the remote start button.
cant believe I lost my dual tips. life ruined
What car is that?
Scaab 900 1995
Sound video coming later for this car 😳
Make sure the valves are set all the way open
why have remote locking when you can have a torch
Pardon?
what
all caught lackin without a torch
Ah so it only beeps when pressing twice?
Because this was exactly what I was thinking lol
it's not a full horn blast, just a short beep
I'd find it quite annoying if my car beeped every time I opened or closed it lol
But you have a visual confirmation (indicators) + the sound of the locks + when available folding mirrors, beeping isn't really necessary is it?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
you could turn the beeping off if it's that big of a deal to you
but i like to leave it on
I'm glad it's not a thing here, I'd get annoyed by cars beeping all the time
Last time I've heard it was on 90's Mercs or something
My neighbours yaris had a funny fault where if it wasnt running and in reverse gear it would blast the horn
they sat there for ages holding in the clutch
I got them to stall it on purpose and it stayed quiet
Why not put it in Neutral if it only blasts in reverse
no if you took it out of reverse it would honk
if you turned it off it would honk and if you took it out of reverse it would honk
something to do with a faulty alarm module, no idea how it could have been influenced by reverse gear
brb rewiring my brake lights to the horn
Rewire the clutch to the horn
That'll stop grandma's riding the clutch at a parking lot
I've seen it where a person wires a horn to a trailer connector and plugs it in.
Simpler than actually changing any wiring in the car
That's exactly how my Honda's remote start works
On a Ford you just hold down the start button
Think it'd a bad idea because a lot of parents let their gets play with their remotes
any manuals ever released with remote start?
I don't think so
I know on GM and Ford vehicles you can get remote start with a manual
i know for a fact that on the new cadillac blackwings, remote start is only available on the automatic
I've never driven a car with remote start here
I think you can get a aftermarket system for remote start on manuals, but not from the factory
Ofc it has to be in neutral, I always park in 1st gear
(of reverse)
I cant take my key out unless its in reverse
Ah yes the classic Saab
steering lock cringe
gearbox lock
If you dont mind driving in reverse you can easily cop this car with a wire
roundabouts clear heres a push
not used to being rear ended like this
epic number plate censor fail
i missed a bit ;-;
I love going through adverts on cars for sale when people attempt to draw out their plates in the photos and fail at it
I park my car in “park” like a boss 😎
MY 4 banger ford is now a 3.5 banger
Oh no
Lol 3.5, how
Automatics boss 🤔
must of put in race mode
4 neutrals again boss?
behind able to light up the tyres while rolling in a 100 odd hp car :^ |
new tyres next week for sure
Guys I am super proud of myself rn, I just replaced a head gasket more or less all by myself
Not only that but it only took me 3 days
congrats
Congratulations! It took me a month to replace my first head gasket and it didn't even run after that.
First cylinder works only when it wants
what 2 car vaccums would be more recommended. Just googled best vaccums for car.
This is the best one for one site.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B003M2F7NI/?coliid=I11GS8EWSQM7Q9&colid=2D6RZX4F8RFQJ&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Looks alright. Has a bag filter. I can always make my own. I see some vacuums that need a custom filter you gotta buy.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09C1D3QGQ/?coliid=I65CC6KH28XA6&colid=2D6RZX4F8RFQJ&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I see this one also on that site. more compact. I can't find a review on youtube. Has best seller.
Maybe something else that can be recommended?
I am looking for something that has suction power. For rocks and dirt.
Are there any wireless one's. Doesn't need to be for the car if it's better.
I personally have karcher wd3
3 for mains and ryobi one plus for cordless
You can go for industrial vaccum
The gas station vacuum is pretty good also. Just gotta prepare your car to vacuum fast as your on a timer.
Just wanted something in the car.
links
it's 2021 they didn't make it a standered to make it more quite.
knowing this site. resemble it and re oil and replace the cheep parts with home made machened, printed parts

it's finally done 😍
My dream car btw lol @warm sparrow
make one :p
I just use my shark lift away. You can use it at home or in the car.
you only need 20k€ and a a few thousands of hours (and tools) (and skill)
C:
I had a dream a few days ago driving it in a Walmart parking lot Revving the engine to loudly to make the Karen's go away lmao
Anyone here got some experience with Honda k24s?
My 05 CR-V has a pretty substantial oil leak on the passenger side of the engine
The serpentine belt is covered in oil
And the subframe is also covered in oil
It's not idling rough, so I don't think it's the vtec solenoid
It might be the oil pan, but I don't see any holes on the bottom
And there is leaks on the side of the engine
It just started leaking like a week ago
O.o
real car
that is something James may would like to drive slow in that car
My lil Shitbox
Stilo?
Yep
I'd there was a car manufacturer you can delete from existence who would it be
I'll give you my answer bases on my current experience commuting everyday. Jeep
It is Stellantis group that must be deleted
i would delete stellantis
I mean Stellanis is pretty bad I agree
I mean, lets be honest though, most american brand cars are hellish to work on
ive never worked on a car, can't comment on that
Ive helped work on a car before, and let me tell you. You basically need your own wrench set for american cars, and they arent using standard metric stuff usually, and sometimes they like to basically make it as hard as possible to get access to some parts.
well yeah, i wouldnt expect a car designed in a country that uses an entirely different measuring system to use metric wrenches
A while back peugeot was pretty annoying to work on
mostly due to the requirement of specially made tools etc
305's are great but they did a fairly good job at making the rear axle hard to take apart
mustang drivers are the worst
haha much funni everyone laff you got noble priez for humor
They have a fairly different market in the UK atleast
found the weirdly aggressive mustang driver
lol no i drive a suzuki
mustangs overpriced here
Ew suzuki
looks like all the cube cars meshed together
250k miles eek. Shell is 2005 so about as new as you can get an in my favourite colour for them.
2005 is the last year of the E46 iirc?
mhm
its £900 so its a pretty low risk purchase but im willing to go as far as swapping the engine
Later generation e46?
and now my car is down on power and has lost all fuel economy
combined with the oil leak
I'm like 90% sure it's the vtec solenoid
Hello dear people. I got big questions for y'all ! Tomorrow, I have to choose between three cars : one less than 5000 km, one exposition and one brand new, all of them are 95 HP, 3 cylinders with turbo Here is the dilemma :
- VW Polo 2021, well equiped (all things from front radar to back camera (no lane assist tho). It's pretty expensive to get though.
- Skoda Kamiq 2020, well equiped too (no back camera or front radar but there is lane assist). My problem with the kamiq is that I fear the fuel consumption... but it's cheap
- Skoda Fabia 2022, as well equiped as the Kamiq but as the name implies, it comes out in january... it's cheap and not drinking gas as much as the kamiq
Any advice or different point of view ? 😄 (french market btw, that's why my english sucks)
2022 Fabia is the brand new model? Then I'd pick that
(Personally neither, but from these the Fabia)
I like how i can tell while cycling that the car behind me is probably a bmw x5 simply because of the insane amounts of tyre noise
ye prolly the fabia i guess
If the VTEC wouldnt engage for whatever reason on our civic it would throw a code
that's why I'm confused. It is having all the symptoms of a VTEC solenoid failure, but there is no code
ours had a pretty bad oil leak too and if it got too low it would throw the code
it hasn't gotten that low
what was your problem?
but it's gotten all over the serpentine belt
We just topped it off heh
o lol
lived with it until it got scrapped
ours id say was the same but it didnt really get noticed as the car was only used in town
I'm going to try to see where the oil is coming from
again
try to see if it is coming from the VTEC solenoid
I’m not familiar with any of these cars but I would choose the Fabia just because it’s new
Seems as I was correct
It's probably the original one too
Used for 250k miles
at least correct for it being the source of the leaak
yeah
but I have a feeling it will be a pain in the ass to replace
it's on the back of the engine
lol
What Would Give You That Assumption™️
everything on a honda engine is a pain in the ass to fix
godspeed, in advance
it can't be as bad as the starter and ac compressor
I had to take off almost the entire front end
and the intake manifold
The VW Polo you should get
doesn't skoda use the same engines as vw?
Yes it does
Because it's more expensive, uglier and less roomy while using the exact same plaftorm/engines and tech?
Ok then
It's 200 kg less than the Kamiq
I was comparing it to the Kamiq (coz both of them available rn in comparison to the Fabia)
The Polo is Fiesta sized
Polo is Petite Golf
if they all use the same engine, then you should choose what you prefer
and if they are the same price
Ah the Kamiq yes, I thought yoh meant the Fabia
just get Up Gti
are hondas and toyotas out of the picture
because if you want reliability
I would choose those over vw in a heartbeat
VW has a lot of transmission issues
Toyota are our of the picture because there are only hybrids now...
Hondas aren't mainstream in France ... Maybe even exotic
Abarth 500
208 are nice but more expensive :(
500 is ancient now, wouldn't buy one of those new now
Oof is it? It's less expensive here
Polo starts at €20k here, 208 at €18k
Reverse for me here. 😂
And Peugeot is french...
laugh emoji that is actually funny
Do you want the VAG-💩 with a DSG or a manual
If DSG, then good luck and have fun replacing the clutches every 50k km
Dsg...
Or every 2nd gearshift, whatever comes first
Only 50?

Most European models come with the DQ200 which has dry clutches, and is horrible
My old Volvo xc70 had it gearbox oil changed twice on 30.000 km
Honda's are available in Europe but barely sell
that's dumb
Hondas are like the most reliable cars
along with toyota and subaru
well some subarus
I've not yet changed my gearbox oil in 145k km
But a manual so makes sense
Not Subarus
Subaru doesn't sell well here either
Subarus are the worst :D
they're pretty good yeah, VWs are good too unless you get a lemon
well
Toyota is the only Successful Japanese brands
depends on what transmission
unfortunately I got a lemon with my most recent VW
their autos are pretty shit
Lexus also doesn't sell well here compared to the US
Last week i had this 2010 Subaru outback and we had to replace every mm of fuel line because of rust
And it's behind do much plastics
I love toyota
it's been on the road for a week, my clutch master cylinder died on the weekend and now I have someone coming with a truck and trailer since i split a radiator hose
The Prius i had and my old Yaris is the best cars i have owned
VW Auto's are shit
1.4 TSI is shit
1.6 TDI is shit
2.0 Bi-Turbo is shit
1.8 TFSI is shit (some variants, not all)
Must I go on
My car has “lifetime automatic transmission fluid”

DSGs are good but the traditional autos suck yeah
Only the higher end models
Lower end like the DQ200 is horrendous
Is the DSG a dual clutch?
yes
Ok
it is
And those are the most sold versions in Europe
My old Citroen C3 is such a great car... Not fun but great
i have 2 MK3s and a MK2, anything DSG related does not apply to me
Never had any problems with it
my MK3 Golf had minor issues once in a while but it never left me stranded
now I'm driving my MK3 Jetta TDI and it's been completely undriveable twice in just over a week
MK4s are good too
my dad's 2002 Jetta TDI has 480k km on it and still runs great
transmission is still really notchy too, and the clutch feels good
and it's still on the original turbo lol
i've heard the car scene in france is very sad
lul
i still wait for the next stilo meet n greet in NL
i also heard that some places have horsepower limits, like 100hp. 100hp is basically nothing lmao
Lol didn't know they exist
Might be a limit for new drivers yes
yeah forgot to specify for new drivers
i wrote a few sentences then cut parts out lol
and i guess i cut that part out
Or sometimes after that, insurance gets very expensive
yeah
hp limit is great idea. my neighbour had 172hp as first car.. 2 weeks later he crashed

my first car was 60hp

most powerful i did was around 620 or something 😄 RS6 by abt
If I add the factory spec of my car, my parents car and my brothers car... I'm still 2HP short
(120+120+83 = 323hp)
(first 2 are both remapped to 170 and 180hp tho, so I guess that's something)
i've got 1548 lol

308+325+420+495
Oof nice
two of those cars are big SUVs

gotta get those gains 🦾
I usually run it on the cheaper fuel
first car (C3) is a 75 HP, no turbo
Hell, even the reason why I specifically bought that car
same same
i"d buy a diesel car, if there was one
but no
gas only with small motor that drink up gasolin
Thanks for frenchie translation
that's a cute little car
now that I have your license plate, I'll call NL police to tell them you are a nice translator
3.999m long, so <4m
Lol ok xD
4 meters car uh ?
lol
oh
Also slow is relative, it's faster as my mighty Corsa
"Lane assist" = good or bad ?
Idk depends, okay on highway, bad everywhere else
then I have a mighty need for it
therefore, I'll not pick the VW Polo, because it doesn't have it
but the VW has back camera and front radar ._. AAAH THE DILEMMA
buys a bicycle
buying this provided no one cops it before me
Dont bother looking for the MOT history because there isnt any on record heh
Doesn't need it, those never die
yes officer cant you see this is a 305, how dare you question my MOT status!
wack
stuck in neutral
also should have got a suburban it would have held up against that truck better
I had something like that with mercedes and toyota yaris
She got the sentra when she crashed her Malibu after the wheel came loose but she ended hitting a barrier so not that bad but this shit was bad, she legit lost conscious
guess what car could not drive anymore
Yaris got yeeted like a soccer ball I bet
nope
the yaris was one that survived
it had the hood pushed in and the lamp has broken off, but it still could drive. Cops told that they yaris driver could drive back home. Had o issues driving back home other than the hood was basically jammed
and the mercedes the front suspension broke
Bruh, cheap cars are definitely better than cars you have to sell your soul for
This guy got really lucky. If he hit the middle of the truck. Would of been shit ton worse
Tho the frame on the 79 would be banana
Toyota: drivable
Semi-truck: dead
Classic Toyota
But yeah could've ended way worse, "luckily" it worked out this way
More weight is more better in such cases, yes
However the Sentra did well, absorbing all energy and deform, but keeping the passenger compartiment intact is the best way to survive a crash
Yeah it definitely did a good job on the inside
My mom had only bruises
But she got knocked unconscious by the airbag
It wasn't stuck in neutral, idk why they put that but it was literally in park
That's the first thing my mom did
If its a front wheel drive. Trans is probably fucked
get el camino
nope after the accident it was still going she had to put it in park for it to stop
I'd like to see that guy go over a speed bump lol
just because parking pauls work doesent mean trans isnt fooked
In the wild, ladies and gentlemen.
@stoic ledge
I did an oopsie MK
I went to try out the Kamiq 2020 and the Fabia 2022... right ?
Turns out, the Fabia 2022 Style edition will have less feature as promised because of components crisis... so the dealership had a car that had too many options (rear camera and dead angle detector aren't in production anymore for the Fabia 2022 Style anymore)
soooo
`
some footage from switzerland
Soooooooooo you bought their demo car with all the options on is?
We need moar speed 👀
not after having bearing failure in a place like this
also it won't go more than 180 KMH
I was going at speed limit
there are Photo radars in the tunnels
or speed cameras
or how they are called
Ah oof
Rip
:/
Speed limit is too low
We need German speed limits on country roads: 100km/h, you see for yourself if it's safe to do so
in poland is like 90 kmh
but pretty much I was fully loaded
also I need to look for a new car. this one it's not gonna last any longer
100 pff.. i normally drive around 150 on countryroads

I need coilovers so i can go faster in corners
Tires.
well tires maybe too but my car is high as a bus and in corners it swaps like water in can
Nissan Micra. Was it?
Putting different suspension can sometimes make you corner slower.
Fun fact. The fastest car through the moose test is a Citroen.
nah not micra 😄 Fiat Stilo
Pretty similar car to the Micra
But yeah. Tires is usually step 1. Then you'll also see how much you will need suspension. If you do.
summer alloys will be 17"s with semi slicks 😄
Peugeot 305 acquired
EXACTLY
It drives sooooo well, so smooth, so silent inside, roomy, with all the security options I like and more... I fell in love with a car for the first time... So I spent extra
if i want no sounds, ill buy an EV
Besides... Kamiq is great and all... But it was indeed gulping gas like there is no tomorrow
I just paid £1400 for a car with a hole in the boot which hasnt been driven since 1995 :^|
this may have been a mistake
ah you still can fix it (maybe?)
yeah my intention was to sell it
I honestly dont know how much it is worth
theres like 30 left so you dont see them getting sold to judge a sale price
he was showing me bleeding the fuel system the bulb just gushed diesel out heh so of to a good start
Nice 😛 Told you, get the Fabia 😛
Also: pics
🙃
2 parts car estates I have access to
yes thats a citroen c2 with a pickaxe hole in it

the C2 is so rusty underneath
It looked pretty good paint perfect n all that but if you pressed on it
light tap with a picaxe puts a hole
sills are gone its going to be used for a field banger event
standard procedure for buying a used car
sounds like russian technics
sounds like mafia tactics
heres the citroen a few hours later
nice pipes my dude
an exhaust system honda owners can only dream of
maroon gang
dont those most commonly have a 1.6
the fiat? mine is 1.4 16v
bruh and those pipes
1 series*
I almost mistook a suzuki for a bmw recently
I was like damn are they doing trim levels that cheap
1 series mb
Suzuki kidney grill looks finna looks better than the real deal
Basically a BMW x0.5
id have the cobrolla if it wasnt automagic
😂
In the same parking lot…
$60 😩
price of a top up
Ok which one of you was it
That's not even bad.
I would love to only pay $60 to fill up my car.
Here it cost €115 for the same amount of fuel
Only 3.999 USD/gallon for premium?
That's 9 USD/gallon here
Weird how diesel is more than gas
Even the premium gas
Its like $1.40 a ltr AUD in my town and $1.85 in mining areas for diesel
Diesel is always cheaper here
diesel is a few pennies more than petrol here
Bmw + VW polo + mitsubishi lancer
Gas and petrol different ? You guyz confuse me
Petrol = Gas.
This is a 2019 f250 and my boss pays diesel for it when I drive it to work.
I feel bad for him because that truck carrys 50 gallons of diesel
Capacity doesn't matter. What matters is the consumption.
Capacity just makes you fuel up more, or less often.
If anything. Having a greater capacity makes you less fuel efficient. Since you more often carry around more fuel.
Volvo
wot
I filled up a few days ago and it was $4.50/gal for premium 😂
I paid 1,000 SEK for 54 liters today.
I’m lucky I don’t have to pay for premium, but she gets spark knock with 87 octane. 89 it is 😭
75 usd for that much fuel here
131 USD for that much fuel here🙃
