The only issue is that in most of these videos, we can clearly see the road markings, thus we know what the distance is. the camera still doesn't change the markings on the road. just because one feels it was closer because of the drivers position doesn't make the car any closer. so for example in the picture above, the car was nearly 2 dashed lines away, at least 2 car lengths.

yes, in @charred depot 's example it is harder to guess distances, because the road marking is a full line. But even then, just because a person is overly focused on something it doesn't make it any closer. 10+ meters is still 10+ meters, even if it "feels" as if he nearly collided with you.
