ive already used my vacuum bleeder to cycle the fluid out for new stuff

stoic ledge

Don't even think the color of brake fluid is being checked here for the "MOT"

#

Only if there is enough in it

#

So that black fluid is probably enough to get it passed here

#

Ah yes, according to RDW Article 5.2.32, brake fluid has to be:

  • at a sufficient level (above minimum)
  • closed off with a fitting cap

Those are all the brake fluid requirements for 🇳🇱

I’m a huge fan of this wheel and tire setup, I run a 17 inch wheel with snow tires in the winter

arctic galleon

OEM for my car was 16, I dropped to 14. I may up the tire diameter later but I'll have to adjust the speedometer.

wanton swallow
#

I can’t fit anything smaller than a 17 over my brakes

arctic galleon
#

I swapped my brakes, but not every car has that option.

#

So I get it.

wanton swallow
#

Lol did you go smaller? I did a brake upgrade on my 1986 944 but it was going larger to fit a 4 piston caliper

#

She went from 14 to 16 because there are way more performance tire options for 16 inch wheels

#

My dad’s got this 1992 or whatever Daihatsu mini truck on 12s

#

It’s super fun to drive, if a little too slow for any highway use

arctic galleon
wanton swallow
#

Oh huh. My GTI just has one massive brake piston. The rotors alone are 13 inches, adding the dumb heavy caliper and some clearance and 16s don’t fit

#

I’d like to go to Audi TTS aluminum 4 piston mono block calipers but the OEM brakes are really good and the car doesn’t even have 20k miles yet so… that can wait

arctic galleon
#

Honestly, one massive piston is fine, dual pots and quad pots just spread the surface area a little more, but I find it negligible if the pads/rotors are the same.

#

My car is a 91, I put on 94 single pots because they are larger than the 89-93 single pots.

wanton swallow
#

Nice. I mostly want to change brakes because the stock calipers are dummy thicc and weigh a lot

#

Steel 1 piston vs aluminum 4 piston, the Audi brakes do use like 13.5 inch rotors and slightly larger pads but idk

Audi ditched the MMI controller years ago, no current model has it. I'd say Audi's current system is the worse out of the 3 with just a touchscreen.

MBUX is ok, it's flashier which is a preference but it's ok to control with the touchpads on the steeringwheel. Not that fond of the touchpad in the center console

Personally I prefer the iDrive system, I just prefer the separate rotary control. I also don't really think it has too many menu's. The driver screen of iDrive 7 is a bit bland, not really using colors + the reverse rev counter...

Kia Niro is an average sized vehicle

But it's a CUV, and CUV people can't drive

#

They're also the last people who would move in to the grass bit at the side of the road of the road is too narrow

#

Because why would a wider and taller vehicle with the capability to go offroad, go offroad? Better push of the lower regular car off the road

#

CUV and SUVs basically tell the world i need a high driving position and a tank to drive around because I don't feel save while driving which is caused by mostly their own driving.. 👀

#

I might be too negative against them

late sparrow

What if you buy a car based on looks, and just like how a CUV look?

And big SUV's makes sense where I live, atleast the 4x4 ones, alot of snow in the winter, and people tow boats and caravans in the summer

Problem is most SUVs and CUVs drive like ass to the point where I don't know how anyone could actually stand to drive one. Unless their brains are just so small they have very little concept of how to connect the dots on things

#

Very few SUVs and CUVs look good as well.

#

None of them get good gas mileage to the point a 90s shitbox is more economical to drive

#

And buying one "for the space" is a really backwards and shitty mindset. Minivans have significantly more space and drive a lot better. And true "SUVs" are pretty overpriced, like the 4Runner (which would be a good buy for space and utility purposes)

#

Regular shitty SUVs and CUVs are no better than a regular sedan or hatchback for utility. In many cases the third row is absolutely useless and/or you have zero cargo space with the third row up.

I live in Europe, and what car people buy is totally dependent if they live in a town, or rural

Where I live, it's mostly 4x4's (wagons, pickups and vans), or smaller hatchbacks

bitter compass
#

What car people get is dependent on the person and pretty much nothing else

Since i live around the city i realized well more people here have awd suvs or in general awd cars because they can afford it more likely

late sparrow
#

I live in Norway, we get ALOT of snow, and most people don't drive 4x4's, it's all about tyres and proper driving education

Put vacuum to the ac system for about 10 minutes until the gauge stabilizes. Hold for 1 to 24 hours and check to see if the system holds vacuum. Once this is verified pull vacuum for about an hour to get all the moisture out. Then fill to OEM spec with refrigerant to the low side.

I just did this the other day to my Fiero which never came with aircon. Now it blows dry and cold!🙂

#

Oh and if the system was open to atmosphere for an extended period of time replace the accumulator. It's also recommended to replace the orfice tube. Both very cheap components.
