Get a fuel efficient machine in that case
would a honda crz be good?
If you can find one
Those aren't cheap
Oh wait. CRZ... Not CRX. Well they aren't common, dunno about price
Toyota Corolla
Honda Civic
Mazda 3
this is where all of america's petrol has gone
Now is not the time to be buying that much fuel
Not because of the shortage but because it's too expensive
cries in 11mpg
probably not
what was the price of fuel in the 80s?
peaked at $2.97
Is it stupid to get a 90's mercedes for like 7k
probably depends on which 90's merc
I wouldn't recommend any German cars as a first car.
Parts tend to be... pricey.
Also I'll take 3 dollars over the 4 we had back in the late 00s.
which would be and which would be good
arent some of the old Mercedes built like tanks
All old things break.
Old Mercs supposedly have wonderful build quality. But engines, suspension bits, transmissions all wear out.
ik
what is to high miles for a car like that
Depends how well maintained they are.
Though an upside is that if they're high mileage by this point and still running they're likely well kept examples.
oh yeah
and not cheap
I've heard of em.
It's like a bring a trailer for newer cars that owners think are too good for facebook marketplace.
newsflash. Your Dodge Neon isn't too good.
a really nice 1999 c43 amg sold there but it has 150k miles and sold for 15k
you think that was well mantained?
yeah but some cars sell real cheap there sooo
The old V6s... honestly no clue on those.
I've heard good things about the V8s. Specifically the 5.5 liter ones.
its a v8
Tho those engines came around the same time Mercedes really let their build quality go to hell. I'd personally avoid German cars from the 90s and 00s.
oh
what about a 92?
was that still good
And over 30 years old.
How good are ya with replacing bushings and worn out rubber bits?
i dont think the car im looking out has badbushing and worn out rubber bits
won't know till you drive it.
Low miles doesn't always mean good.
If a car sits around for 15 years in a garage. That could be very problematic.
ik but its not to low to be bad
Can't say more since I don't know.
But I'll continue to push for a Japanese compact sedan as your best "first car."
Reliable, cheap enough, durable, and easy to fix on your own.
how expensive is it to import a car from japan now days
Where do you live?
nyc
Then buy local.
If you gotta import. Get em from the south. Less salt damage I imagine.
Getting em from Japan means you'll have one hell of a time trying to source parts, or you'll have a USDM car with the steering wheel on the wrong side AND you'll have issues sourcing parts.
no like buy them from a company that imports them for you
I know, but importing a car from Japan is expensive and a very involved process. If something breaks you are hosed.
I have my doubts about being able to drop by autozone to pick up a timing belt for a Daihatsu Mira.
you think a non import high mile z32 300zx is a good first car
yeah
A 300ZX is a horrible first car.
oh
It's about as bad as it can get tbh.
what about a miata
yeah
why not a Corolla or Civic?
but maybe i can find a unicorn
ik those are really good first cars but cmon now
8th gen Civic Si's are lovely to drive. and Toyota had a few sporty Corollas in the past.
c'mon now, what?
Why not a Corolla or Civic?
nvm the si's nice
Manual Civics are great fun.
yeah
Manual Corollas are super durable.
yep
i could buy a nissan figaro lmao
lol
they only cost like 5k
Of which every dollar is regret.
ik
im not gonna buy a supra
Older Supra or Cressida.
dont mk3's sell for 15k?
idk much about those whats special about them
They're adorable.
oh
I got my winter beater: Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ
I got my daily: 2019 Toyota Corolla hatchback
and now I want a car to just have.
how much does it snow for you to need a winter beater
Not much here. But enough for them to salt the roads.
And it gets cold enough to where the Corolla can't keep enough heat.
North Dakota's winter was mild this year.
its snowed pretty good in ny this year
There was a week here where it hit -25F.
Supposedly it can go down to -30F during a good winter... or lower.
4 inches?
we had over a foot
It's been dry this winter apparently.
but it never went under 0
Rumors are that a good winter here we'll have a month or two where temps will never go over zero F.
good night
I have a manual ba xr6 as my first car and it’s the really reliable with the Barra engine and it has power at 250ish hp
I don't know if it's my car leaking or it's just everyones
there are oil marks on every parking space
Intech is more reliable 😉
Barra for power
That’s true, i havnt run into any problems with my Barra so far though still going strong
Assetto corsa mods are something:
Updated shader for displays with TN matrix type, this time based on proper references rather than my imagination https://t.co/VYXKilntqd

I think my vacuum lines are all original on the saab which is amazing to say the least, but i dont believe they are all 100% airtight heh
wait
so it's 2.09 usd per liter?
OMG
Its like 1.1$ a liter here@fathom socket
I pay 0.57 usd for my gas
the funny thing is
Gas is getting cheaper and electricity is going up
that car is sick accept i dont think they have them in my country
is it just me but does your game also stutter when you look at the part of the car where there are a lot of parts
like the engine bay
that happens to me sometimes, but I just blame that on my 1060 3GB
i havea 1060 6gb and that happens to me all the time
me with my hd 7870 2gb
building a shitty smoke tester for me saad
Are car head units sizes the same?
Engine swap?
Yeah it does, what engine?
289 small block Ford
Nice, I’m in the middle of building one, you could swap a smaller engine in which I wouldn’t recommend
You could get it tuned which may give it better mileage
Or you could do a ton of weight reduction
There are standard sizes for aftermarket units, single din and double din, but manufacturers don’t necessarily adhere to those. Usually you can buy a mounting kit to make an aftermarket radio fit into a specific car.
So size doesn't matter if I buy a double din headunit from Pioneer to replace an alpine one?
Nope! Just make sure the sizes match. Of course you’ll have to do some wiring, the connectors aren’t standardized unfortunately.
Yep ;_;
Am aware that the wiring isn't standardized
Already bought a wiring harness for my truck
Convert it to efi
Best Honda fit/ jazz, change my mind
The best Honda is the RB16b
@eager grove have an XC90 rental car and what a pile of shit
How they sell a premium car with such rubbish tech is ridiculous
The D5 engine is fine, interior quality is good but wow this thing is firm for a non sporty SUV
Nothing like pigeons in car wash
Wait what 👀 The 2nd gen XC90 doesn't have rubbish tech lol
someone being a feature snob, doesent have muh back massager bad car
I don't really care about the paint.
It's ruined anyways
My dream car is the Porsche 911 PDK because it looks cool and it is an auto
That's a great price. In the UK we get shafted pretty hard and my car drinks the stuff. I tend to drive for fun so I've not look at EV's, I struggle to see how EV's are sustainable if we all drove them
I mean it's LPG
Oh I forgot you were LPG! How did you get on with the OBD2 in the end?
still way cheaper than 1 Kwh
nope
I went to wash my chassis today
it was covered with oil
I feel you, hate leaks. I've got a coolant leak too, my cars looking pretty sorry for itself today
and IDK if it was because I used to have a leak
and it wasn't cleaned up
or something is still leaking
Honestly placing cardboard under the car will help you find leaks
There was just so much oil and I couldn't find it
And I had a pretty serious leak because half shaft seal had failed
Great
My jack broke
And my car is stuck on jackstands
Same lol
it seems something from the transmission is leaking
can we all agree that vtec is like one of the best engines ever
Rx7 🤤
i tried the rear wiper on the saab, it did a 180 and faced backwards then gave up on life. i could go full poverty spec and rear wiper delete
the door linkages for the exterior lock and handle was hell to get in but got it eventually
VTEC ain't an engine tho
if you remove the rear wiper, it simplifies and adds lightness
removes the whole car
whoa whoa there, ya dont wanna go too fast
what's life without danger
You guys have wipers?
a piece of plastic on my eyes
I have a crack that goes halfway down mine but I don't feel that it's worth $200-$400 to fix lol
idk how much would cost to replace a heated windshield on mine
probably more than the car is worth
200 isn't bad though but it's a generic brand. The 400 one has the jeep logo and a jeep climbing a hill in the corner
Really good car to own if you enjoy fixing cars 😄
if you remove the front + rear windshield, that's a potential drag reduction
or a massive increase
I would remove all seats too
wace car
and just lay on the floor
its a type of engine
so technically it is a engine :/
I find VTEC super underwhelming, if it wasn't for the noise I wouldn't know it was there
Well VTEC is more for efficiency overall than a performance boost like i.e. turbocharging etc
Yes but all the Honda fan boys run around shouting VTEC JUST KICKED IN.
Lmao, ok that's just dumb.
I suppose it is handy to be told when it's that un noticeable
"Omg the catalyst just kicked in"
Maybe I'm too harsh on it because I run a big turbo
I mean for a commuter car it's a neat feature because the engine will run more stable overall in lower revs
It is essentialy vvt as found on stuff like the mg zr 160
To my understanding anyway
at leqast I don't need to wait for VTEC to kick in my car
Ah it's 'vvc' on the zr
Nah man just get 4 cannisters of NOS and you'll be blasted into a wormhole transporting you to the finish line in time to stop the kennedy assassination
Disclaimer: All I know about NOS is from the first few FF movies
Think the car with the nastiest torque I've ever driven was an electric. Acceleration was insane, I think my lungs tried to escape through the back at one point
Looks like a proper pickup
A fat gas bill
Nah this is a fat gas bill that wants to kill you when driven only skilled drivers can train this deadly viper
Keep reading. It's a system. VTEC isn't an engine.
Most famous in the B and K series engines
Oh and F-series of the S2000
Our F10 M5 gets 22mpg /shrug
Oh hell naw wait
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Ok
I thought discord removed that feature
my 1995 saab is on original rear shocks, impressive
Do the shocks work?
they seem to do something, except the covers are broken and the shaft somehow has rust on it
oof
I would probably change out the headlights to either LED or something with small bulbs that get changed out instead of a housing
yeah, there aren't that many street lights where i live
It's a part of owning a rotary, but it's worth it.
Yup I agree, I've had it for 6 years now
I need to put a new clutch in my RX-7
after I get it towed for the 3rd time
the 3rd tow since owning it, and the 3rd unrelated to the engine
@civic girder what issues you had? Mines been quite good over the years although I did get a rebuild about 3 years ago
When I bought it, it was an hour away and had some of the most dry rotted tires I've ever seen; not to mention I couldn't really drive manual yet and I was a bit paranoid about the fuel tank because of the dealership the prev owner had taken it to before selling it.
The second time it was towed, the fuel pump died after the neg terminal on the battery fell off and hit the post again
Other than that, and the second fuel pump dying, its just been old car things for the most part
Yeah fuel and wiring really needs to be spot on. I've seen them go up in flames! Most of mine is updating it, taking out 90s technology and so on
eh, I like the aesthetic of the older tech. LED replacement bulbs look really nice though
I was forced to put in a new radio, the one that it had was aftermarket and was not only broken but very poorly wired
Wiring should only be a problem if somehow corrosion got to it, mice got to it, or it was in an accident. At least on these.
I only had one corroded pin in the body harness, really weird spot too. But otherwise I've not had any electrical issues
If it's imported from Japan you can often find terrible wiring throughout. I'm in the process of ripping out the defi gauges and apexi ECU that was in there. Going for a link ecu and digital dash
Interesting that the JDM models have bad wiring
to my knowledge, USDM models were made in the same factories
It's the Japanese that tinker with them not the factory, they're known for it. Scotch lock everything 😂
true lol
Gotta love it tho
something in my clutch assembly failed so bad it won't go into gear while its running
rip out the rotary block and put in a M20B5 or something, more power, no reliability of the rotary 😄
i've seen people do it
but yeah..
Ah yes, let me ruin my rust free 2 owner car with an engine that doesn't feel anything like the rotary.
And spend all that time and money just to throw out a 80k mile motor with perfect compression
Engine swaps are costly and time consuming. They very rarely make sense and are almost always a bad idea
Also,
"No reliability of the rotary"
You could indeed say a BMW engine is less reliable than a good rotary
Such a great idea. I can definitely do an engine swap faster and cheaper than towing 45 minutes and putting in a $70 clutch kit
"just engine swap bro" is the most dead fucking meme of all time. If I had a penny for everyone who asks when I'm swapping or if it's still a rotary, I'd be a trillionare
older BMW blocks are far more reliable and easier to work with than any rotary
it's not uncommon to just tear out crap blocks like TPI stuff for example on vettes
and swap them out with better engines
besides those engines are not expensive, it's the work involved that would take time and effort
but in some cases it actually is worth it because the stock engine is so garbage
do you think it's a bad idea having 185/65 r14 tyres on front and 175/65 r14 tyres on the rear?
why tho
i like to have the better tyres on the rear, the front sliding a bit is a lot less scary than the rear trying to perform an overtake
Damn
Presumably words of a man who has never worked on a rotary. You do realize its a super simple design, really easy to strip down and I can pick up/carry the entire block by myself. The value of these cars now is such that you would have to be a fool to put anything else in
I get a shit ton of wheelspin
if you want to accelerate fast get some moderately decent tyres heh
That person is no longer here haha
That being said I do own the motor they were trying to reference to
Its not bad but I wouldn't being myself to swap it anything else
lol
Yea I guarantee working on a rotary is easier
id get a Rx8 for the hell of it but the road tax is insane due to emissions plus the amount it would cost me in fuel to actually drive it
RX-8's are actually hard to work on
the engine is crammed in there as tight as possible. No space is wasted and the motor is far more front-mid than any of the RX-7s were
its got a reasonably substantial nose, wonder how they managed to make it so cramped with such a small engine
oh the engine is almost in the dashboard
yup
My butt touched where jay Leno’s butt touched
K-swap brah, so fast brah, smoke ANY Prius guarantee!
Also joking aside. Rotary engines are by design simple af
who
New here, but on the topic of rx8’s, there’s lot of stuff people don’t know. I owned one a few years back, pretty thoroughly learned the platform. They’re built on the NC Miata chassis, which is a kick ass platform. If they didn’t have the suicide doors and back seat weight, it would be pretty much just a wider/longer Miata. It also has a very very similar 6 speed manual (it may be the same, internally) as the FRS/BRZ and s2000. It even has a carbon fiber driveshaft stock.
The renesis rotary is a good little motor, but the oil injection system is trash. Using used crankcase oil to lube apex seals is why they have problems with them wearing so quickly. Ideally, something like premix 2 stroke oil would keep them lasting very very long, at the cost of atrocious emissions and fouling spark plugs (already fairly weak OEM coil packs make hard starting and plug fouling problems to begin with).
The only other main reliability problem I have with it, is the cooling system. It’s not so much that it’s inadequate, it’s the freaking gauge in the cluster. It’s one of those “fake” temp gauges that sits in the middle across a wide range of temps. The danger here is, as soon as that needle starts moving towards the hot side, there’s already a chance that the engine is hot enough to blow the cooling seals. If a rotary blows a coolant seal, may as well full rebuild while you’re in there. This happened to my otherwise minty 04 manual rx8, idling in traffic on a highway on a hot summer day. I cut my losses instead of going through the effort of rebuilding it, and sold it.
You forgot that the "updated" exhaust port design promotes carbon buildup and premature seal failure
Reman Renesis units are notorious for not lasting more than 80k miles
And even factory Renesis units arent the greatest in terms of longevity
All the other rotary motors from previous models were more reliable, especially the n/a motors
To my knowledge a stock RX-8 shouldn't overheat sitting in traffic at idle either
Something was definitely wrong with your car
My RX-7 with water pump belts extremely loose, would only begin to run hot on the highway. And even then, it was just barely out of danger for an extended cruise; get off the highway and temps dropped instantly to normal.
Bonzen
I may look at getting an rx8 as they're extremely cheap here in the UK
Purchasing them is one thing, maintaining them is a difference story
I think I'll manage, I've already got a rotary compression tester so may be able to find something cheap with bad coils
Tesla cybertruck
IF I would have to choose between those 2
I would say Corolla is more resonable
ep3
depends on the location i guess
Any location tbh. I barely trust adults at the wheel of a truck... A 16 year old? Keep them away.
Learn to drive something smaller, then we can talk about something bigger
what I want it's just a car that is cheap to fix and run
sadly my current car almost did meet those criteria
and them rust and rear suspension
and I have to get new legalized gas tank
Legalized is the worst word
Old Toyota
Or Honda
parts are too expensive
and sadly has the same problem than my current car has
IDK about Toyota
but civics seems to be on more expensive side
for parts
Corolla
I see like 15 every time I go for a drive
Ugly cars in my opinion
I just love how the car is still perfectly fine after a car crash
If you want something crash resistant get a boat like a Volvo 240
Smash the other car to bits
my focus needs:
rebuild rear suspension,
Fix the hole in the right sill,
fix leaking power steering rack,
fix the gearbox? leak
or it might be the engine crank leaking, but the oil is kind of thickish
what year focus?
id sell it
and also replace gas tank because legalisation has ran out
but I can't afford to buy a new car for what I would get
that sucks
at least this car compared to what my family had before didn't suffer major engine failure
I'm still thinking should I fix this car even if it costed as much as the car is worth
because I don't really like new cars
theres plenty of old cars on the market
Lexus RX is a great first car
my buddy's IROCZ with other friend's non-SRT Neon in the background
My Prius + friend's FRS and sneak STi in the background
pics from when we parked up before going to Triple F Collection
Triple F guys have a ton of cool stuff
weird flex but ok
yup
Probably my best weird flex tbh
yeah prob
gf said truk ugly pls help
should have gotten a Jeep.
Makes australias 3.5T towing limit look small lol
aye me like
that is definitely a few tons overweight
the mustang has the jeep engine lul
it'd made of ramen its 32oz
i see
hyundai elantra n line with the DCT. why should I not buy it
ill just set this in the passenger seat
Because you can get an Elantra N Line with a manual. That's why not.
it’ll take you 45 minutes to learn my guy, and after 5-6 days it’ll be pretty easy
once you figure out 1st, and then get into second good, everything else is the exact same just different gear locations
and maybe 500-1000 more rpm rev match in lower gears
as long as it’s got a stock balancer and flywheel it’s really easy, usually don’t need to rev match on an up shift
I picked it up in about an hour, it’s really easy tho once you can do stop signs, don’t focus on downshifting or double clutching for the first few days, get a feel for each gear and learn the engine sound in relation to the rpm, and clutch pedal feel at the friction point.
and now my obligatory photo
I think the cooling system was okay, fans worked fine and never lost a drop of coolant. The water pump was oem, but at 65k miles I didn't expect to have to replace it yet. Possible it wasn't flowing as much as it should, but again, the main problem is the gauge doesn't indicate there's a problem until its damn near catastrophic. I even immediately cut the car off and pulled over when I noticed it had moved slightly up above the middle (it was maybe a minute, tops, at that temp, only idling). Keep in mind, though, this was a 104 degree day in the deep south.
As for the carbon buildup, I've heard getting rid of the cats helps that issue. But yeah, I definitely agree it was a regression from the previous models in the hopes of meeting emissions. Still, a cool car, at least to look at and drive someone elses... lol
Buy tesla roadster
money
its a exige
Oof
Those F trucks are basically trucks tho
Wth where is that fron
Ohh
while I do agree the dually is capable of pulling it, the pure weight of a quad axle dumper (~29,000 pounds) on a 2 axle trailer is kinda sketch
I mean cars that don't need like 5x worth of fixing
in the UK atleast thats possible, the saab i got for £450 and doesent need much I could of got a normie less interesting car if i didnt want hassle
Mustang poggers
here for lik 2000 euros I can bearly get anything that works
and even for twice of that you can still get a car that needs entire engine replaced.
2000 euros is a nice car here e.g. a mazda 2 with 60k miles
I think it's mostly because UK cars are rhd
are you looking at private sellers?
both
I mean like for tha same price I've paid for my car I only find cars that are falling apart more than my current one
everyone buys cars from UK now
poland right?
ye
But I don't want to pay 5x the insurance
love the pic quality and interior full on sand
Fiat Cinquecento
what?
get a Cinquecento
that's a death trap
a cheap death trap
I can't even get in
its not thaat bad
I don't think that's a good car to travel 2000 km monthly
how bad can it be
idk
I don't see those cars anymore
A lot of cars that used to be super common are gone
eeem
what
and a 2005 jazz costs like 3x as much as my ford
ye but is the jazz a heap
I found a twingo for like 450 pln
or like 100 eur
but I dunt have monet for a tinker car now
and my dash cam disappointed me
Nice
valve cover maybe?
a leak a day keeps the mileage away
If it leaks oil. Its got oil
just the distributor and a minor head gasket leak where the timing chain goes on the other side
i want a tesla model X but with model 3/Y interior
the space and fancy features of the X are amazing, but the interior is just rly old imo
the model 3/Y is really clean and simple but still perfectly functional
If it was gearbox. It would be under the car all over it. If it drops on the ground and looks like trans fluid not oil
Unless you have an trans cooler in the rad that could have leaky hoses
I'd say its leaking from the valve cover gasket, head gasket or a blow-by pipe
It's a manual
I wouldn't call the Model 3 functional.
It lots of lot of functionality by moving controls to the screen.
i just wish they had a heads up display without it looking terrible
There is a company that apparently makes an instrument cluster for the Model 3. Too bad the biggest issues remain.
How to fix the Model 3's design issues:
take it to the scrapyard and buy a better car for less than half the MSRP
@mint oracle What's weird is that there isn't a single vehicle in that segment at all yet
there are 3 electric 3 rows
The Model X, which is way too expensive ($100k+), the Model Y 7 seater and the EQB 7 seater, both of which are compact SUVs (american classification - mid-size european) with a tiny third row
Given that three row SUVs print money, I don't get it
especially for Kia, who have probably the best one in the segment in the Telluride and produce great electric vehicles
I guess that the compactUS/midsizeEU-UK segment is just that much more popular
I just can't believe no-one has done it.
My 2015 bmw x1 has a clean af hud

i have found the light of god
Bright boi
nevermind just another cyclist who doesent realise how insane his light setup is
Lmao
i bipped as i went by but in reality i should of put my high beams on

Don't get a BMW as your first car. You really don't want to deal with the maintenance and upkeep
Goals are great but BMWs are... Troublesome
IS350
Imma have a fit too
But a nice car would be nice
Also my dad is very knowledgeable on cars and im decent
I have an old manual ranger I drive around out farm rn
I am just wanting a nice project car
And my mom has always wanted a bmw
dont think a 2016 328 is what i would call a nice project car
previa op
A 90s BMW would make for a decent project

I owned one that lasted 80K miles
A RS7?
yeah C7
A 120,000 USD car
full lease term
We are talking about the same car?
Don't they got a Bi-Turbo V8 with like 500ish crank hp
Or like 450 wheel
Ever check out the F10 M5? @magic arrow
If you can find them quick enough they can be had for pretty cheap used
we reviewed the Competition M5 but never posted the video, didn't like it
What did you find issue with?
didn't find the driving experience to be good and the HVAC controls are infuriating along with carplay working about 40% of the time
Ohhh lol
it was pre production model so we chalked it up to that and just never posted the review
Understandable
Somewhat related but not really
A bird nailed ours in the direct center of the hood as we were going like 30 mph
ohh so it's not aluminum like current gen
That would’ve sucked
Not sure actually
@magic arrow just checked, the F10 does have an aluminum hood
Tmr I'm gonna drive my friends M235i (2015) with N55 inline 6 and its got a stick so I'm super pumped
Sounds fun!
Yeah, I own a 2014 Subaru Forester XT so gonna be a big change
in driving experience
I got my permit a few weeks ago and I have been spoiled by my moms car so
Ah
When I finally get mine road worthy it’ll be quite the change
I've had my licence for around 3ish years now
Got a 2002 325xi
Nice
I bet, first time?
Yep
Fun
In the cars I've changed an alternator its literally a 10 minute job
I mean once you’ve done it a couple times than yes, but everyone’s first time (especially with no other experience) can be a little challenging
It took me like 15-20 min the first time I did it
Btw, what MPG’s do you get with your Prius, got a friend looking into one.
I've got a 2009, so a 2nd gen. I used to average 50mpg when I got it at around 75k miles. I'm up to 108k miles now (technically 93k-ish since I had to put a new motor in, long story) and average about 45-48 mpg now. I think its mainly generic tires instead of eco tires
battery is also getting old so that doesn't help. I plan to swap out the bad cells when it eventually gives me the red triangle of death
that too
I also have a 95 Corolla which I match or beat the EPA mpg ratings with
I think the Corolla is rated for 28 city and 34 highway, I consistently average 31-33mpg combined
I more or less match estimates with my 'rolla.
~37+ highway... and I'm getting about 30 driving around town... okay that's dramatically better.
Still not sure if that's thanks to E0 or not.
my car looks like ass rn.. no time to clean :C
Whut
?
Nice Holden
typical commodore stuff
Tasmina?
Was fun to drive without using brakes
Dunedin
F-150 lightning reveal today
If there’s a version for under $60k that can do 250 miles, they’re onto a winner
I wish we had E0 around here
the saab almost sounds cammed when cold at idle heh
But why
honda odyssey go brap
Floor it
My Corolla pops more than that odyssey
And neither pop enough to be considered brap
That looks so darn clean
Ew
Lmao

c'mon flipboard
My friend had mid life crysis and bought a z370
Those are vary cool... the nice thing about them is they been in production forever now, and might even have cross over with the Nissan 350Z before it. There is a lot of Mods for it should the 3.7 V6 become too tame for him, and with it being a 2 door sport car, it might also retain its value if he got the manual since nobody makes those anymore..
the motherboard or the car?
also, "mid life crysis"
or is this some joke that flew over my head

SUBSCRI...
Ford F150 Mach E reveal.
Is it a compact suv?
no... it's the F150 EV.
I understand the EV part of it. But why name it after such an icon?
I saw the ad for it this morning, and I was super excited thinking about a 750HP supercharged V8, single cab, short bed. Then I read the words "electric" and was majorly let down.
eh, it delivers on the Lightning bit without a doubt.
Fastest F150 ever made apparently.
maybe you can argue quickest? a 5.0 single cab short bed f150 willno doubt be faster above 60mph stock vs stock, and a tuned ecoboost 4wd faster overall...
Always stock to stock
Modified renders any meaningful comparison moot.
Cause after a point a Civic can be faster than a Z06
Specs and prices are unbelievable
with a $7500 tax credit it's going to have MSRP about the same as a gas F-150
My tyres squeak even if I drive on clutch it self
I suggest nobody to click on that link xD
Yeah it looks very promising
yeah somebody get a mod or smth
And the front trunk containing over 400 liters...
Why this user wasn't banned right away
He's muted but not banned...
If I do the maths, a "base" XLT would cost €58k here... that's a lot of money ofc but not really that expensive tho, a PHEV RAV4 is like €56k here
only in fife do they increase the speed limit because no one will follow the low one
I love when my front tyres lose all traction and I can't do shite
Best is Linus Pink car
That the ranger?
Uhm no I'm talking about the F-150 Lightning XLT, it's base price is $53k freedom units, converted to Euro's that's €43.5k, adding import duties + tax I'm at ~€58k
The one that you want I think is going to be $56k + destination
maybe more - I don't know how much extra the extended range battery pack going to be
Ah fair
Ok so the XLT standard range starts at $52k + destination (and taxes presumably)
on the Mach-E the extended range battery costs $5k
Idk the XLT comes with the standard Battery pack which should do 370km/230 miles on a single charge according to the EPA... And the EPA is more realistic compared to the WLTP we use in Europe
Yeah but the WLTP is like way off
So we can believe Ford's numbers on EPA
So this probably can do 370km/230 miles
yeah
So that's not bad at all imho
For me 250 is the magic number
and if you're ever towing or hauling you need headroom
the extended range battery pack is probably going to be I'd guess $8-12k
but they will qualify for the $7500 tax credit
The bigger batterypack will do 483km/300 miles
Higher trims get the bigger batterypack as standard iirc
The Platinum definitely has it as standard
It's not super clear
XLT optional
Lariat not sure
The only prices we have are the base work truck model, plus the XLT standard range
Tbh if the base model can do 370km on 1 charge IRL, that'd be enough for me
Yup true
That'd be ~€58k in 🇳🇱 which is cheap
Regular F-150's registered as a passenger vehicle in 🇳🇱 is over €100k lol
holy crap
they don't even sell them in the UK
not sure they've ever been sold here
How much is the Mustang Mach-E over there
Yeah I thought you were talking about this type of XLT lol
Remember US prices tend not to include taxes or destination fees
Yes the Ranger XLT, 2.0 TCDi manual would start at €77.521 here
When you export it you can get those taxes back so not necessary to include in my calculations 😎
XLT automatic: €89.406

Uhm the Ranger XLT Double Cab:
- €29750 before taxes
- VAT: €6248
- BPM (emissions tax): €53408
Total: € 89406

Waaattttttt
That's why the Mach-E costs 40k less than a ranger
Yes
is electric adoption pretty high there then? Because that is bananas
Uhm it was last year, but this year the percentage is lower
But 50+% of new cars sold are company cars
Only ~15% of new sold cars actually go to private owners
Last year ~20% of new sold cars were EVs iirc
That much?
But with prices like that, I'd buy an F-150 Lightning lol
That much... To what number are you referring? 😛
Idk 20% seems like a lot
Total new cars registered in 2020: 356.051
EV's: ~70.000
70.000/356.051 = 19.7%
Can't seem to find a more accurate number than "more than 70000"
Seems like a lot, but with prices like that it makes sense
I've got an old campervan that I hate (and suck at driving)
it's smaller than an F-150
I have no use for a truck whatsoever
but if I was offered any car in the world, I might pick it. Despite it being totally impractical for use in the UK
Yeah a truck like that would be way to big for here also
Won't fit on my driveway
I'd still want one lol
yeah, for real
Not that I have 60+k to spare lol
Yeah, more like £60
xD
There are a lot of electric vans around, and ford sell a lot of vans
As PSA/Stellantis has a fleet of EV vans, so they have to
and in the UK vans drive like an average of I think 5-10 miles a day or something
people rarely do long trips
Yeah for many stuff EV vans are okay
absolutely
interestingly ford don't do any even remotely large SUVs in the UK
largest is the Kuga, which is like a jacked up focus
I think the Mustang Mach-E is probably the largest, which seems weird
They do more people movesrs than cross overs, very weird
They do have an e-transit https://www.ford.co.uk/future-vehicles/new-e-transit
Yeah that one is coming
Very sceptical about the range tho
67kWh, 350km
That'd be exceptional
But it's probably more around 250km
The PSA siblings with 77kWh are rated for 330km iirc
Yeah, haven't seen the EPA numbers, and as you say, because it's PSA it isn't necessarily the same
Like I trust the F-150 numbers
The F-150 is a triumph though. It has:
- Great specs
- Distinctive but familiar look
- Great towing capacity
- Features that not even the hybrid can match
Like making it seriously appealing in Texas is such a win for EVs in general
Like if you can get from Dallas to San Antonio without refuelling, then who cares
if you're going to drive from Dallas to San Antonio and back, you'd have to refuel in a normal F-150, same as you would in a F-150 lightning
Yeah but the Transit numbers are probably some weird variation on the WLTP
Based on full charge. Range quoted for best performing variant, Medium Wheel Base, Medium Roof Cargo Van, 390 Series, Speed Limited to 90kph.
I mean, 90kph...
I'd totally drive the Lightning, base battery would be fine for me, towing/long distance the Extended Range pack is probably a better choice
would you all like to donate to my gofundme with a target of £500k so i dont need to pay for car insurance on my cars.
I think it looks decent
I can give you Bs500K
only if you donate an equal amount to mine
jeez
As a truck driver I can make up to 2000 euros per month
meanwhile me after college with 1/5th of that
Gotta work your way up if you got a degree.
Meh. I said screw it and I'll become a truck driver
I kind of become like my cousin.
He worked in it and now he drives trucks
It still doesn't mean I can't comeback
I just feel the college post grads being unable to find good paying work is a bit disingenuous.
Pretty sure I got the correct word. Hard to tell with discord spell checker.
Looks right to me, and I also agree
It's more they already want people with experience
Yea it's dumb
You can't gain experience if you can't get hired to even a low level position bc they want 3-4 years experience
It takes a bit effort to get there, yeah. But for most office jobs they're happy with just some employment.
Or smooth talking.
A gokart with a V8?
I am buying my wife a 320 i I'm definitely know I'm getting the m sports package and innovation package any other options I should look at that you would recommend would be helpful
Is it worth getting the tobii eye tracking
Perhaps
@eager grove selling my golf. you want to buy it from me and ship it to the uk? lol
Man I thought a brick or something was going to fly through the wind shield atleast
How good is the advanced cruise control in the BMWs where does the steering and the speed I think it goes for about 5 grand Australian
weird flex but okay
imagine thinking about buying a BMW
BMW cringe
Why they are the only company in Australia that has advanced cruise control when you don't need to touch a steering wheel even Tesla can't even do that
Why

The eye tracking shows that you're looking at the road
I don't think buzzing the steering wheel every minute shows that you're looking at the road
How to fool the eye tracking step 1: put your phone/tablet/laptop on the dash
Then you would just be pulled over
And then you wouldn't be able to see the heads up display
Oh no what a tragedy
I think the best solution is to make you hold the steering wheel and use some kind of face/eye tracking, and not rely on one or the other
You'll get used to not looking at the digital dials when it says right in front of you what the speed limit is how far still going and where to go
What
I have a car with a heads up display
I’ve never driven a bmw
Why not my 440 i drives amazing
Can’t comment
I've have a 5 year warranty and 5 years free servicing
I think bmws are ugly
Not all
Ok
And it has real exhaust
I have an X5 but it's mostly used by my wife
You can't even get them in Australia
Not surprised
