so really I need three separate seats, and precious few cars have that
If she didn't sit in the back, I think a Golf wagon, as we've discussed here many times
is the best combo of space for passengers and cargo to size of car ratio in the industry
but like the Touran you can't get a sensibly powered one
unlike the Touran of course you can get an unsensibly fast one
Oktavia > golf imo
We (my parents) had the same dilemma when buying zhe Meriva... Basically we had the option between the Meriva and Mokka (when looking at Opel/Vauxhall, we had similar options for other brands). When we compared the 2, with similar exterior dimensions, the Meriva is way more spacious on the inside, it actually drove better + was 4k less expensive. All that just to drive an CUV
But yes wagon FTW
Octavia is probably better than a Golf from a practicality stand point
but all the old ones are fuckugly
so what are you gonna do
New ones look better than the current golf
Golf Variant is also quite ugly imho, they have a rear overhang
What isnt a hard task
So does the new Leon imho
Just get a Focus ST Wagon 😎
Octavia rs, or if you have too much spare money audi/bmw
Yeah, all good
but none of them have three seats in the back
I don't like the Focus ST wagon though
boot too small
But 80k € for an rs4 is a heavy pill to swallow
BMW quite cramped in the rear, Audi drives just as bland as Golf 1.0 xD
Ok not the RS4
But a "normal" engine xD
I mean, I don't know that any new car isn't a hard pill to swallow
I wouldn't buy a french car if you paid me

I am extremely biased
but I just can't stand them
plus they don't solve my Touran problem
The car I want (500L+ boot space, three individual rear seats, 180HP) basically doesn't exist
It also has to not be too huge or too expensive
Zafira Tourer, 1.6 Turbo
cement mixer honda
Zafira tourer tops out at 138HP I think
Doesn't stuff like passat, superb etc have more than 180hp options
Yeah, they don't have three individual rear seats though
The point is I really want to put the car seats in the middle and side seats
so have the misses in the seat by the door
I'm fairly confident I can do this in the touran
because it has isofix in the middle, and the seats can move forwards and backwards individually
so if I put the two seats offset, I should be able to squeeze two rear facing seats in
Hmmmm
1.6 Turbo is 170hp
Same engine as the 1.6 Turbo 200hp in the Astra K tho, just detuned
I have a personal issue with zafiras
It tried to break my hand - which totally was the car fault not mine
Definitely the car not 6 year old me being stupid
he wants to vore your hand\

@stoic ledge can’t see any on UK autotrader
Oof that's sad
Hmmm yeah above the 150hp I only see diesels in the UK
Mainland Europe had a 1.6 Turbo, 180hp pre-facelift and 170hp after the facelift
(170hp is/was a brand new engine tho, more reliable + better fuel economy + better power curve)
As you can see: 1.6 Turbo, 170hp
The Ford SMax does come in a fast version
So that’s an option
Seems like overkill for a four person family though
Tax is expensive too - £315/year
Expensive

My Corsa costs more

Also, S-Max has terrible rear headroom
They drive great tho
Don’t care about rear headroom
Might want to try one, but I like the Touran much more
I'm debating trading my Mini in this year
I've honestly had no problems with it since I got it, it's quick, and it's been a joy to drive. Most of all, it's paid for
Don't you hate hyper realistic nightmares
Like I woke up today and I thought my car rolled from the hill because parking brake failed
Sounds like you're not ready to get rid of it yet
Drive it some more, in the mean time save up some more money for your next car 🧠
Yikes
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too
rapidcool technology
Tesla compared to predatory video games after TikToker reveals you can pay for an 'acceleration boost
bruh
this is why i want a lada electric car
i wish they had kept a slightly boxier rear end but i can live with it
In this video, we discuss my long-term ownership of a Volvo XC90 and detail the problems and how I chose to deal with them. New SUVs and Cars are expensive so warranty and paint care and protection are also important topics in the video. I talk about the things I love and hate and travel to Chicago Auto Pros for further advice on car care. Ot...
heh the rear brakes on my car last like 300,000 miles so i wont have to deal with that
they do basically nothing other than add a little resistance
New exhaust
anyone know what type of tyres these are, are they winters or some sort of gravel / moderate offroading tyre
maybe they are just normal the tread looks to be quite pronounced though
Likely winter tires.

Synthetic fuels are fuels made from water and carbon dioxide from the air. You split the water into hydrogen and oxygen, and combine the oxygen with CO2 to create hydrocarbon...
Pretty cool tbh, I hope synthetic fuel can actually become mainstream.
Assuming it's ever cheap enough.
So in order to convert whatever to synthgas... massive amounts of electricity are needed.
Why not just cut out the middle man and charge cars directly?
jfc Donut is... wow. This is actually insidious bull.
"creating synthgas is a clean process that uses lots of clean energy, but electricity for EVs is only made using nasty fossil fuels. >:("
This is too painful to watch. And here I thought only Scotty was huffing the good stuff.
Here's the thing. All this gas made in Chile or whatever? You still gotta ship it. That's a lot of energy, and I don't see shipping companies changing over to clean diesel. Then we got to ship it to gas stations, pipelines... which leak.
They did go over the whole shipping thing in the video
The other plus synth gas has over regular EV is that the cobalt and lithium doesn't need to be mined making the actual manufacturing of the car give of less carbon
But yeah if people would all agree that nuclear isn't a super terrible option then we could have a better chance at getting synth fuel be more mainstream
Cause the reason for it being in chile was for clean energy production
yo tesla why does a luxury sedan need to go to 320km/h and have 1020hp?
long range has 7 times the hp of my car
because people are gonna buy it
and plaid has 11 times the hp
lol , its a cool car
11 times the hp for twice the top speed
WHY
Its just not as good man
I don't really care about Ev's because they are super expensive to get and the electricity for them if more expensive than gas for my car
no fun in fixing it
I could say this too
People who say that were running out of oil are dumb
humans havent even touched the whole earth yet
but I think if I would replace the battery after warranty this would cost me my kidney probably
battery technology is too expensive and lithium ion batteries are scary when they catch on fire
I already had them catch on fire
I did use the powder fire extinguisher
I seen firefighters getting metal boxes to put the car in
I always keep one in my car and home
Yeah same
especially after owning the infamous note 7
also the 2 batteries that caught on fire were samsung INR18650-25R
but I think this might have been the distributors fault
Yeah
Back to the car stuff tho
If an EV broke down
its either just gonna be a wire issue or motor issue
To simple lmao
what about battery issue
That too
But like I get it has torque and all
You cant just refill and go
EV trucks arent gonna hold up in australia
no way
just put a v8 diesel engine and attach a generator to it
Lmao
imagine an EV truck pulling 50 - 80 ton road train though australia
it couldnt
We Only have coal and wind
no solar powered charging stations
solar panes are mostly used on houses
I never seen a solar farm in my life that wasn't someones roof
If the world goes to like where. Fuel becomes so rare its rare to even start your "old" fuel powered vehicles
so they sit in a garage :(
<100 USD per kWh
my car runs on portable stove fuel
hydrogen isn't even green
Yeah
you need energy to produce it
Hydrogen cars are bad. Same as hybrid EV's.
electric cars aren't green because batteries and powerplants
the efficiency gets close to the gas car
but I don't really know exacly about pollution
A lot of safety hazards with them too
Ah, the conversation is about green stuff? Then Im not willing to participate
Nah man
maybe super capacitor hybrid cars?.
I do drive a full battery electric vehicle.
Yet I dont like the topic "green"... Because it includes too many aspects and people who want to enforce laws to cripple the freedom of others to do what they want
Fair enough
Nah I just dont like the fact people they forcing others to change
like in 2030 the world will be fully EV
my aspect of the having EV is just not having a place to charge them, it's expensive to buy them and charge them, going abroad would be difficult
Yeah fucking right lol
What for Americans are their guns, protected by the 2nd Armament, for Germans are their Cars.
I would like to have a cheap small EV car, but I could buy like 8 cars that I have for that price
Electricity will go up as oil companies wont be getting the money they like
VW eUP for less than 12grand factory-new.
that's still expensive AF
Depending on where u live. For German references, its not. Not for a factory new vehicle.
If the government doesnt get the money. They'll put prices up on charging EVs
I see it happening
mind my english its late lol
but for a small electric with crippled range
public charging I rather see as exception. Only for when u do greater ranges.
I can do a good 200km with my eUP on a load.
Mostly thats enough to keep me going for 3 days, somedays I need to recharge somewhere on the run
ever a funny working used Renault twizy goes for like 4000+ euros
at least the 2 that were for sale
But generally I do have an 11kW wallbox at home which did only cost 200 bucks incl. installation.
Even having that, I only would need maybe 2kW through the night for the car to refill.
Did you have to upgrade your wiring?
well, I only have a public charging station under my home that is more expensive than gas
No, as in Germany, every household by default is wired with 3 phases 22kW
Like standard house over here is 10a 240v
32kW*
fucking chirst what
Thats default regulations for over 70yrs of housebuilding already
only single phase
mine is rated at 25a 400v
but I also live in a apparament
I just checked. In Germany its 40 Amps 3 Phases 27.6kW
16A 230V (SchuKo)
still charging is somewhat expensive here and I can't get anywhere I want without getting stranded with no way to charge like it happened to someone that owns a tesla
16A 400V (CCE16)
I remember we had those in our home built back in the PRL
If your wiring is well-done for sustained "high" loads, u should be able to charge an EV with a household plug.
Those 2.2kW should be sufficient to charge an EV over night.
If its plugged in for 10hrs, thats 22kWh.
A default BEV needs a good 20kWh per 100km.
So there u go. With household-powerplug >100km per 10hrs
Your 10Amps 240V are meant for up to 2.2kW
Germanys 16A 230V are meant for up to 3.7kW
Also its standarized that every household does have one of those installed.
3-Phased 16A 400V (11,1kW) and u are allowed to upgrade up to 3-Phased 32A 400V (22,2kW)
Households in Germany are usually connected with 63-80A 400V to the net.
Wait every household in Germany has a 400V connection?
Yes.
y tho
I'll consider an EV when charging infrastructure makes it viable.
Otherwise an EV makes zero sense for me.
introducing the tesla jerry can
I'd like a car that's actually good.
Toyota has spoiled me.
Y'know... bumpers staying on, suspension components not rusting off, nav screens not leaking/dying/exploding.
whats the fun in that
I can actually buy parts for my car if I wanted to.
If i wanted something unreliable and poorly built I'd get a Jeep.
oh wait... I have a Jeep already. Guess I'm good on "American build quality."
I believe that is called a generator
Chatty chatty bing bing: gosh are we in for it
my speed 3 isn't blown up bois
Dream car
59 El Dorado, nice
Getting new exhaust. Was curious what it would sound like without the muffler. Love the turbo flutter on start

are the blank area the areas you haven't explored yet?
or is it red because of the gang you haven't wiped out yet 🤔
that car poster looks happy
what
it is a 2020 bmw 440i
m'yata
look bad
im just joking about reminded me of the old gta map xD
Focus SVT look so bad
it look angry lmao
As A focus mk1 owner, this looks meh
Miatas be cute happy cars
Id of got a Miata if i could atleast do minor modifications with it without my insurance going up infinity%
Honestly, I wish I could get insurance that only covers when other people are at fault
If I screw up my car that's on me
But I don't want to pay for other people's mistakes
Doesn't the other people's insurance cover your damage when they're at fault?
Honestly, a car made with a Tesla drivetrain and battery tech (sans touchscreen and interior design philosophy) mixed with Toyota manufacturing facilities and automotive design expertise would be the absolute pinnacle of EV development
Tesla's battery tech isn't some kind of secret super sauce.
I know. There just isn't an EV that can compete with the electric performance of something like the Model S (except for Taycan, but it's more of a wagon than a sedan)
So yeah... there is. VW's products can.
And in the case of the Model Y... the Mach E is a very solid competitor.
In terms of range or speed for VW products?
Also Mach E is a good EV choice, but I was thinking moreso along the lines of an improved Model 3/Model S. Should've clarified that earlier
There is no improved Model 3.
And the Model S has more power, but hasn't been released yet, and the platform is aging.
No, like theoretical Toyota Tesla EV collaboration
I don't think that would help tbh.
Tesla's issues are more than just build quality. Tho 5 years later, any build quality issues are just excuses at this point.
I think most of their issues actually do stem from build quality (excluding battery performance in colder climates, since I think that could be a battery packaging limitation or manufacturing hangup in regards to keeping the batteries in their operating range) such as sections of the suspension missing random nuts or bolts, touchscreens randomly crashing when much of the car is operated through the touchscreen, on-board storage dying in a remarkably short time, etc.
It's more than that. There is a massive disconnect between promises and realities.
It's something that's gotten people killed.
Yeah, that too. Especially with the not-actually-autopilot autopilot
Then there's their shit stance on right to repair.
Or even allow indie mechanics to maintain cars.
And in car DLC.
"But BMW and Mercedes do it" is honestly not a great defense. Because BMW got reamed very hard on the carplay yearly fee... they backtracked on that. Now there's talk about them bringing back other in car DLC...
If you have to defend this horrible practice... uhhhhh... the German cars are actual luxury cars? So the owners arguably can afford to get scammed charged extra money.
Also I do want to add this issue as well. Their ability to actually deal with the midwest is kinda bad. Paint getting blasted off in winter along with rusting suspension components is a bad look imo.
Yeah, in-car DLC is excessively stupid but profitable. Their right to repair stance also makes no sense considering how difficult it is to purchase brake pads through a Tesla not-dealership which would only be helped by right to repair. Which, considering the importance of brakes, safety being a hesitation on allowing third party repair shops makes zero sense.
Considering Tesla is pretending to be pro consumer and saving the planet.
... I was warned for the dumbest thing ever... holy shit.
"saving" the planet
meanwhile tesla apparently abusing staff wages, but I would read more about it
it's more of a meme company in my eyes
The only real thing Tesla has going for it is the motor performance and, in warmer climates, the battery performance, but everything else they have is either average or abysmal.
Also, how bad are their workforce practices in comparison to other American production facilities? Not raising this point as an argument, just never seen a comparison between them and Chevy, Ford, etc.
Not to mention the guy that either left or was fired from Tesla and then was tracked by his car's GPS, which was a Tesla
uhhhh, it's dramatically higher at the fremont factory than anywhere else.
I think Nissan's Tennessee factory is the next worst, and that's been a fraction of reported issues.
I've heard some controversies abaut that factory that is built in germany
lol
That's an easy one tbh.
Usually you do the paper work before you build something in the EU.
That would not be surprising at all. Especially in comparison to Porsche factory standards
Tesla was cute and thought they could do the paperwork as they build. Every single issue they're facing is one of their own making.
I just gonna try and drive my 16-17 year old ford focus and maintain it
They're gonna have even more fun with German unions.
unless rust get's so bad It cant be legally driven
You can't ignore those in the EU.
Hire polish people and just abuse them,
no
I know Scandinavia and Germany are packed with chargers, but I don't remember Bjorn driving through Poland. lol
there are like 5 Ev cars in my city, but there are only 2 public chargers that are more expensive than gas
it's much cheaper to drive gas car I have
... well not like Poland is big on clean energy right now.
best we can do is wind farms and private solar roofs
I know there is talk about carbon neutral by x year, but w/e.
I think private generation is the future tbh.
they should have built the nuclear power plant
Those aren't cheap.
I know, but protests
and it was canceled.
It's not like we are surrounded with them
also speaking of abusing Polish people
it's easy because some people can't afford lose thier job
54 violations vs 5 in the same time period
Tesla's OSHA violations are more than 10 times worse than Nissan.
Toyota had 4 violations.
I think tesla could be compared to apple
It be like that for Poles.
Thanks for the link!
Sorry it took so long.
Got distracted by Poland talk.
Still have family there, so I still have a passing interest.
No worries
Oh, so they had 10x the number of violations from 2014-2018 compared to the top 10 U.S. plants. That's... an impressively garbage violation rate
High score?
HIGH SCORE
This is the Audi front service position right
non oem parts reeeeee
I may have to order a car part from the US :^| aftermarket steering rack brace for a saab 900 but id need a 1994-1996 one which they dont sell anymore here.
No
Weird car today (on admittedly unfamiliar roads)
I saw:
Merc EQC (never seen one before)
2 x Audi etron sportback (only seen one before ever)
A left hand drive (2006ish) Cadillac Escalade (never seen one in the UK)
And a brand new Aston Martin DBX
Queuing to get into my local shitty little retail park (strip mall)
It’s like a £175k car
Just in a queue to get into a normal shop. Seems so strange to me
Too bad its not pretty
Personally I would never buy a luxury car
If I spend money on a car I want to feel that much faster
I buy cars that I like the looks of and I think are cool. Ease of maintenance and repairs are not my first thoughts
I am a huge stickler on interiors, and I much prefer more retro style and stock-alike appearance mods
Hence why I could never buy 98% of cars made in the last 5-10 years
new cars with "retro" styling just look stupid
I have a huge hard on for basically all 80s cars, mostly non-American 70s cars, a fair few 90s cars, and a select few 60s and 2000s cars. Post 2010, there's not much that interests me at all.
There's also some pretty cool 20s and 30s cars
The new supra is slowly growing on me
I think they look ok, and I don't really care that its got a BMW motor, but the rebadge was far too lazy
they couldn't even change the door chime to a Toyota one
I haven't seen any reviews on it yet, I'm just taking your the body looks
I haven't been very interested so haven't even looked at the interior, but I suspect I'd hate it
The only Toyotas that interest me anymore are the Hybrids (excluding SUVs) and the Corolla.
Camry TRD too, ig
That's probably not that easy as it's using BMW electronics...
Although it's just a different sound file so it shouldn't be that hard..
still, I'm buying a Toyota, I don't want it to feel like a BMW
Its ok
but all in all doesn't really look like a Toyota, much the same way the Mk4 Supra did
And the RWD + I6 setup... if they didn't co-develop it with BMW, the car would've never existed as it doesn't make financial sense as a stand-alone product
The Mk4 looks fine, and its fast and cool, but at its core it doesn't look or feel like a Toyota
But I did like how the Mk4 looks, and this kinda looks like it
Yea, it does kinda look like the Mk4
Just a shame the I6 costs €90k here 🥲
probably why I'm not very interested
The Mk4 carries the badge and name, but gives off the wrong aura to me
I'm curious to see how much they depreciate over ~4-5 years 👀
Give me a mk4 or mk5, I'll sell it right away to buy a Mk3 or earlier
Idk I've always tought the Mk4 was better looking then its predecessors 😅
Although the Mk3, I like that one as well now
wow lmg
but yea, I like 80s cars way more
so the Mk2 and Mk3 are far and away superior to me
The Mk1 Supra I classify as a Celica moreso than a Supra, considering it was the 2nd gen Celica and the Supra name hadn't split off yet
True
Idk, now I quite like the older Supra's as well
But when growing up, the Mk4 was still like the bomb, so that's probably why I still like it
Honestly a rotary swapped Mk3 would be awesome
Pretty awesome
Stinger?
What kia other than the stinger is awesome
why the cee apostrophe d ofcourse
I like the Kia Carnival, I think it looks cool and it's hella practical (and those fully reclining back seats are dope)
but I don't think anyone would decribe it as 'awesome
I quite like the new Carnival as well
Can’t see that I’d pick any other vehicle if I had a family of 6+
Just so much more trunk space and utility than any other 3 row vehicle
I suppose not that much more than other minivans
But it looks so much better
My RPM suddenly became wavy and there is a whistle when I accelerate
there always was a whistle when accelerating super hard on highway but now it's audible in the city, and the car sat for 4 days unused
What car?
focus mk1
wat
Fully reclining back seats
As if thats a revolutionary feature that hasn't been done before in cars far cooler
What troubleshooting have you done so far?
I know that my mid muffler has holes for sure
You tried to determine if there's any noises in the accessory drive? Checked for vacuum leaks?
no I didn't.
I'm very limited when it comes to diagnosing knowledge
Troubleshooting a car isn't significantly different to troubleshooting a computer issue
I'm still trying to figure out how to disable the LPG computer so I can get some codes maybe
I need to pull the fuse from the computer that is tapped to OBD port
Can you not just pull codes? Why would you need to disable the LPG computer?
the OBD port does not work and apparently I need to enable the port from the LPG computer side
The fuck kind of whackass engineering is that
idk
God damnit ford
it's aftermarket
Ofc it is
the kia k5 is a beaut of a car, and for the price i'd say thats like #1 pic for the average consumer
telluride is also nice, i feel like kia is on a roll atm
im pretty sure somethings missing there or its a weird design
also the lovely growth happening, its suprisingly uncrusty though
I'm not sure what kind of suspention I'm looking at
and I need to replace a lot of screws on my fender and bumper
80% of the bolts and metal screws are so rusted they don't hold anymore
im suprised the rear bumper is so well stuck on given the bonk forces it has received
the bushings on the civic have been of decent quality but they are drying up at 20 years old
I need to replace struts
but that I fear is the bolts and stuff just snapping and stuff
the knocking is getting louder and louder
jesus christ can they remove the opposite of bolt censor
im only bothered about stuff snapping when it goes into a captive n0t especially if its in a hard to reach place
judging by what I have seen on the front of the car
I'm putting off replacing them for so long now
having a gas torch is really useful, I usually just go to my friends and have him do it but probably going to get my own.
£50 for a decent map gas torch and bottle
I have a propane butane torch
probably good enough
all trough the flame is a bit large diameter
I'm renaming this color FUCKIN RED
what I want to see is rosso corsa Fiat Panda

my monitor isn't doing it justice I look out my window and I'm like what the fuck its so bright its not even sunny out
You mean... A threaded washer?
A bolt coupling?
n o t
A threaded bolt donut?
cant use u
I know
It's a word with vastly more meanings than the censored version
I'd ping a mod tbh... If you feel strongly enough about it
no matther what I have tried
I can't get any OBD scanner to connect to the vehicle
It's the same with mine, the LPG computer f's everything up
As soon as I plug something in the USB, the car starts boinging, the engine starts to run rough and lights start to flash
Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?
So I found out a rally event is happening near me
I think imma enter in with my minivan
Amg minivan?
Nah, a mazda 5
Oh lol
Yeah it's more just a street race than an actual rallycross event
I'm assuming that because it's 90 miles long they won't be shutting down any streets or anything either
Have fun.
Get nitrous fitted

nice car
Volkswagen has told TopGear.com it’s eyeing a bold future. A future of cars crammed full of tech and features which the car’s owner / user / subscriber can turn on and off as and when they need them – but only pay for while the gadget is being used.Any car connected to the internet has been able to receive over-the-air updates for some years now...
they can get fucked
Yeah it's cool
fuk VW
screw vw
Im gonna see what you guys think. White smoke is still seen when starting cold. Even tho I let the glow plugs warm up. Engine also has a knock. idk if its just injector knock or engine is trashed knock
You ran low oil? That really doesn't sound good
Nah its got oil and oil pressure
Bad lifter maybe? Idk, not a mechanic. But I had a similar issue with my truck a year or so ago and it needed a new lifter.
What’s that thing called :))
Seeing the saad 900 tomorrow, hopefully its not super rusty
Thank you for that
I doubt that is the right word
The first thing to modify on my first car directly after I bought it (I think in about 10 months) is mounting a train horn on it.
this thing
the winter just killed my car
perhaps holy but probably not detaching
I think separating
nah
like there is gap between floor and this thing
if it has any chance of detaching your car will likely be a banana
like 2 layers of metal that was supposed to be welded together or something
I would have to take photo of it
holy sills are common on cars that old round here, they usually just get a patch put in so they can pass the MOT for the next few years
once you get to the point of replacing an entire outer sill, inner sill and structure around it though... eh
Should of told him to take it to a weighing station before to find out the anti weight reduction that has occurred
Hor me it's not that it has holes. I it's separating from inside or something
who here has a tesla
Nah I prefer engine goin vroom u know
My neighbor’s Cimbria GT
Despite the weird noise and the alternator whine, the Corolla sounds significantly healthier now that its on a new timing belt that's in time
damnnnnnnnnn
Wash off your car more often in the winter. Salt is BAD for your car.
Unless it's like, super freezing cold outside.
more like sheeeeeeeeeesh
But how do I wash off the car in - 25°c weather
damnn that's sick
So I have a dumb question
every torque vs horsepower explanation follows the same formula
this is what torque is
this is what horsepower is
if one car has more horsepower than the other, it'll accelarate quicker regardless of torque
the end
If you have two cars with equal horsepower and one has more torque, what is the effect of that? I've always assumed that the one with more torque will have more pulling power, but I'm not really sure how to define that. Is it the case that an equivalently horsepowered, but more torqued engine will lose less acceleration when more weight is added?
I think it comes to the curves and at what rpm torque and hp peak
From the acceleration figures that I've compared that the diesel and that has 250 nm of torque and 115 hp accelerates sightely slower than the gasoline car with 115 hp and 160 nm of torque
yeah, I know torque is a curve, and so what can quite often matter is the torque curve, so if you have more torque lower down that can make a difference
like my Dad says his electric car, despite not being that fast 0-60 (8.5seconds or something) still feels quick because when he wants to accelerate to overtake or something, the torque is just there, no kick down, no turbo lag, and no torque curve
I think engines have too many variables
But I think it comes mire to the transmission and its gearing ratios
Gear ratios also have a lot to do with it ofc
But, when you take a car with the same wait, same gear ratios, same fuel, same engine, same max horse power but 1 has more torque
It'll really depend on the powercurve
Power is (simplified) RPM * torque
So when a car has more torque but the same max hp, it'll most likely have the max amount of power available sooner
If that makes any sense to you
So, it most likely has more pulling power in the lower RPM, resulting it'll accelerate faster as the car with more power in the higher RPM range in most daily circumstances (implying you don't rev to redline 24/7, but shift at regular shift points)
So, overall, an engine with more torque in the lower end of the powertrain usually feels, and likely is more powerfull in the average ussable range
*powerband
Maybe cvt transmission
Yeah that
It's a more usable powerband
We kind of see this nowadays with those smaller tubrocharged engines
yep
in simple terms its where a car produces its max torque within its rev range, if the max torque is produced lower down in the rev range, then it will feel more "punchy" to your ass dyno
Previously, with an N/A engine, you had a 2.0 to produce 150hp and 190Nm or something like that, but the peak torque at like 4500rpm
Nowadays, a 1.4 Turbocharged engine can also produce 150hp, but with 250Nm over a larger and lower range, for example 1750-4250rpm.
Because it has a lot more torque available in the range you'd usually drives, it'll feel like it's got way more POWERRR
yea a cvt/dct tranny does have an impact, because they can change gears faster than a human can, keeping the car in the peak torque range
any car with a bit of power can lose traction in low gears assuming it has traction off or doesnt have any
Yeah what a CVT does is basically keep the engine at the point where it has the most pulling power/torque and power, resulting generally in the fastest acceleration possible
3.5k RPM is usually where a V-TAK like system kicks in
What the hell is vtak
Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control
So it's both
VTEC uses timing but also the lift of the valves, while VVT only uses timing
but yea basically its a type of VVT
other manufacturers have their own variation of it
like toyotas vvt-i
so yeah.
My mom toyota has VVT and my focus has Nothing
evil laugh noises
underseal coated fibreglass filler time
I doubt it will be that bad, at worst a bit of rust converter combined with hopes and dreams
3d print some fake weld beads and stick them on there before the underseal
MY car floor is covered with fibreglass
maybe that's why the floor is still not shit
but entire sill I can poke trough with screwdriver
make friends with a welder
Maybe cracking would be a better term
Maybe I would want to weld my self, but I don't have a place, skill or tools
Just do it in ur driveway
And all u need is a welder
And u can just practice on 2 pieces of metal but it isnt hard at all
I have no driveway
I need new rubber grips for my pedals
Cut them out and glue them on. Easy fix 👍
Okay but next year for real... Right? Like for real real. Not like the last 6 years... Or was it 7?
Niiiiiice
So i viewed a 1995 saab 900 yesterday and by the end of my viewing neither door would allow you to unlock it heh.
And my ford doors didn't allow to get locked
So I've been parking my car with open rear doors for half of a year in bad neighborhood
I saw iveco daily with truck axle
Bad News, the Dacia Sandero got delayed
Oh no!
Also double axle delivery vans?
Thats a fantastic picture
wowie
I definitely can't take as nice of pics
about to offer £450 on a car listed for £650 :^|
Nice
my brains telling me to offer £500
the guy seems chill but people are capable of going from chill to not so chill
650 is a low price already. If you've got cash in your hand, most people will take it
Like, if you say you've only got 500, then he'd be pretty willing to just take 500
given he has multiple cars one being a brand new range rover id think hes not tight on cash. As far as i know he is just clearing space for a 740
I got my Corolla for $280 because I had cash in my pocket
It was listed for $500, junkyard would give him $300 but he would have to pay for a tow, and I decided to offer nice and low bc I was there
Dude was kinda dumb tho cause he thought the clutch was about to shit itself. Hence why he said he'd have to tow it
Meanwhile I've not touched the clutch at all and gone a few thousand miles with unrelated issues
corolla for 280$?
Yes
Im hoping the clutch is alright but im getting the car for the experience fixing things
If it's fwd clutch just take it somewhere lol
But most everything else I would definitely try to do yourself
yeah that would be the smart move heh
i do not envy the people doing mobile clutch replacements
I've overheated my old clutch so much because it was slipping
so far in my family all the cars have been killed off by corrosion before the clutch has gone.
I'm not looking forward to doing the clutch on my RX-7, but at least it's rwd. I don't trust a rotary at basically any mechanic tho and I'm not towing it an hour to the rotary shop
The RX-7 has it's original clutch. The Corolla is most likely on its 2nd
How many miles?
it has 310k km
highest mileage my parents have got on a car is about 160k miles
it used to be commercial vehicle and I'm 5th owner
because everyone has manuals here with it being normal, you get a decent amount of old people redlining it in parking lots etc
Clutches usually do about 75-80k miles in commuter cars
they dont even realise they are doing it because they cant hear the engine
You can definitely get more life out of a clutch than that if you drive it right and are easy on it
The RX-7 is lucky to have lasted this long. I beat the clutch every time I drive it
also IDK if my transmission is leaking oil or it's the oil left over when the seals were replaced
im amazed my dads clutch has lasted so long, with its little 1.4l NA in a big car you do have to get those revs high on a hill
You aren't driving a rotary correctly if you're not slamming 1st to 2nd and dumping the clutch on the shift
At redline
when getting out of a junction on a hill it is getting moderately roasted
Depends on flywheel torque
kinetic energy?
If it's slipping but there's not much torque at the flywheel, clutch wear won't be too bad
its being slipped on purpose
And you can run heavy duty clutches that last longer and can take more heat
I know that's what I mean
It's not gonna burn out the clutch very fast if it's truly truly gutless
its lasted 140k miles fine
i have nothing to compare what is a fair price for the car aswell. There is only 300 left
The guy had no resistance to my offer, should of went lower heh
Got that good driveway
wish i had a level driveway heh
I wish I had a driveway
same
Every car I make i inne automation looks like they have facial expressions
an austin happey :-)
I dunno how to tell about Tesla’s
They sure are fast
But I’m sure other performance SUVs would have more “soul” in the form of steering feel and such, however the model x and any Tesla has a really nice center of gravity
Vrooooom
All EVs have good center of gravity.
spacers no good
Lmao i scared some lady when i downshifted lol
uncle Rich did it
Did I over pay for this? I paid 25k
HP? features?
None of the hp and none of the features😂😂
this is CA$ rt?
What’s ca
Canadian dollars?
No
aah i see
18k usd seems pretty expensive ngl
but as long as it does the job and you enjoy it, things shouldn't matter too much
:)
It’s a 1990
H982 FKL, the cursed british licence plate
Sheeeeeshhh
Is it yours?
Nah my cousin
If it's your cousins, then why is it for sale at Dusseldorp Alkmaar 🤔
Rental lol
Sort of
My uncle knows the owner and my cousin could drive in it for a weekend bcs he just got his license
If I was the owner I would not lend a new Z4 to a guy who just got his license
Hey guys I just turned 16 and got my permit I know it’s not much but I got my first car!!!!!
my saad gets transported on monday
have to climb in through the boot to drive it onto the flatbed
bruh
what the
this had better be a joke
Lmao yeah I was being sarcastic, I’ve got a shitbox 325xi
eww
looked a lil nasty
Oh
Yeah
Engine is nasty
Alternator was all corroded
I thought you meant the car in general kajdkskwmfnt
nice supercharger
old one was whining real bad, so it was time
This blade got wadongaed
alternator is a bit of a pain in the ass on the saad, its tucked right down in the front right arch
especially if bolts do not want to be compliant
We had a bolt that was spinning but wouldn’t back out lol

I think this actually clears my confusion
Trailer bigger than my whole car 😅
Dacia Logan on the Total 24!
yesterday I had a mazda mx5 next to my car
and I just felt that I could run it over
or drive over
that car is smol
everyone buys Duster here
yeah i dont see many logans
@fathom socket thank you so much for that video
That makes so much fucking sense now
First video that explains what you feel — ie what it’s like to have both kinds of engine (high horsepower low torque and low horsepower high torque) and why you’d want it
Yeah
It’s not far off what I thought
But I have a much better understanding as to why
One of my major misunderstandings was not considering max RPM—I hadn’t realised that lorry engines max out at 2500rpms. I hadn’t really considered that it would be very different, which I think is why I wasn’t able to intuit the difference
mahoosive spaces
The alternator on my audi requires the entire front end to be removed
me who had to learn how to park truck with trailer
oh god
Longer trailers aren't too bad
Short trailers are a massive pain though
I mean like 18 meters combined with trailer
No emission stats
Yeah. We get next year model for trucks way before cars do
My company also orders them a certain way straight from the factory, and we order like hundreds at a time lol
proof that global warming was created by the world governments to control us methinks
they just use it as an excuse to just juice money from us instead of addressing the real issues
I've just realised that 1 kWh costs more than 1 liter of LPG
At least on fast chargers

some modern civic got pissed off with me doing 30 in a 40 waiting for the flatbed to catch up
despite it literally being me and him on the road and it being a dual carriageway where he could easily overtake
instead tailgates me for 10 seconds then overtakes and moves in right infront of me
I have so many cars tailgatine me when I go at speed limits
Mazda's ready to be registered
also, people don't know how to drive and on a intersection where I Can fit with a truck and trailer behind a single car on a single lane
passager vehicles have trouble fitting
people turn too early
The shift knob in the geo rotates infinitely
And it's an automatic so if you rotate it too much the linkage for the button loosens
oof
yeah
IDK what to do
I need car, but I can't afford to get new one
and the budged I would be aiming for would be already eaten by rust
apparently it would cost 220 euros to get this fixed
That aint just rust someone has pummeled that
The idle power / low rpm power of the saab is insane, barely have to give it any throttle the manouver on the hill.
Mmm dat milage
So sad that Stradmans dad passed
I gave my truck a makeover
Oh yeah
Bendy
How do I drive?
disengage brake, put in neutral and let the truck go where tha truck go
^ he knows what's up
don't forget to let the brake off and unlock the steering
The car charger that has been constructed here has never been used
If EU trucks are like US trucks, just shifting gears like a car doesn't work, gotta match the RPM. But then you don't even need the clutch while you're in motion, just float them bad boys
Only time you need clutch is to stop and start
that doesn't work
at least on the man TGL 240 and 250 that I drove
Works on US trucks.
It just grinds gears
why 5W40 expensive :^|
Is it 🤔
its not that bad but its certainly more than 5W30
I think 10W40 would be a bit steep for our climate
I think last time I did put 5w40
but also I heave oil leak from somewhere I can't see
speaking of that
I want to clean the engines and all the things that are covered in engine oil
I really don't know what could I use to clean
damn what favour did you give the guy to pass it
it was clean before
are your inspections not yearly
i mean your rust
your car would of been off the road by now or a decent chunk of welding
last time it did not because of rust
now I have another spot that is happening the same
I need to keep it for another 1.5 years at least
by our standards unless your tester is going to be very nice that sills going to be an issue.
my problem with my car is that it's the most mechanically reliable car that I've had in my family
except the Yaris mk1 that my mom has
but that car has 115k km while mine has 300k
and the Mitsubishi space star
always engines falling apart
this one is falling apart because it's ford
i mean if you like it sure but here that weldings going to cost you a decent chunk
here they don't cost as much
but when you income is like
450 euros per month
would be acetone good option?
Id try to avoid anything that could be flammable
The CX lineup gets some mixed reviews
car reviewers really like driving them but they really lack for interior space
Man, I cannot stop watching videos of three row SUVs on YouTube
not only do I not need a 3 row SUV, as I suck at parking large vehicles and have only two children
I also can't afford one
and the ones I watch the reviews for aren't even sold here
The main thing I can’t understand is why no one is making an EV 3 row
Except Tesla
I guess Mercedes with the EQB
Does even anyone buy wagons these days?
It’s like, make a boxy EV crossover priced between a Model Y and a Model X, that has 250 miles of range
Print money
Obviously the 2 row compact/mid size crossover segment is bigger and that comes first
But no one is in this market at all, and it’s a huge seller in the US especially
Wagons? Not really, especially not in North America. I think they sell fairly well in the UK and in mainland Europe, but I think crossovers outsell wagons by a lot
I mean
I see people just buying crossovers and suvs
Or subcompact cars
Usually
But I miss the mitsubishi Space star My family had as a kid
I think wagons are better than crossovers in general
But I think they don’t sell well. In the UK, only the Golf is in the top ten cars made in the Uk that even has a wagon format, and they probably sell 10 hatchbacks for every estate
I'm really super happy with the size of my focus
I like wagons because they just work for everything
It can be a family car or it can be a work/transport car
Yeah, a lifted wagon is the perfect do it all vehicle
That ute hyundai is making is not even a work ute imo
More of a SUV with an open boot
But imagine the pain when I had to park a 18 meter long vehicle set
what's the point of a lifted wagon
something like a superb scout or passat alltrack only has maybe half an inch more ground clearance than their normal counterparts
the only properly lifted wagon is the outback really
tell that to all the people that buy 7 seater suvs here while only having one kid
when i was buying the first kodiaq the dealer had a whine saying resale value is shit if you get a 5 seater suv...fuck that, i'm not buying my car for the next owner. and when it came time to sell all the people that enquired about the car said they couldn't care less and prefer the additional boot space and 2nd row legroom
Teslas aren't 3 rows.
They offer a 3rd row, but having seen a few pictures, a toddler wouldn't enjoy it.
Also we should bring back minivans if we need to move more than 5 people at a time.
volkswagen have the currently china-only id.6 which is is a 5+2 but it's not exactly pretty
things got bloody bug eyes
Say I got a 1990 Infiniti M30, what are the chances I could keep it maintained properly?
Just part costs and shit
Discussion from owners of these first gen leopards and m30’s in the US says suspension parts are nonexistent and they are usually modded with different suspension but nothing is drop in
One guy got his working with the automatic adjusting suspension from a Lincoln town car but others are just dropping in GM bone stock conventional shocks and struts with some pretty in depth adaptations involving a lot of welding
Outside of shocks and springs, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
You might have issues if it has "sonar suspension"
Wheels are cool
Any mustang enthusiasts in here?!
The Model X third row is fine, you can fit adults back there. Agree on the model Y
Yep
Just finished this bad boy
2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 a.k.a Red Devil
how did that thing even get to that speed?
the saab 900 oil pan is looking a bit er coated with oil but ill probably do nothing about it unless its leaking a tonne as i believe dropping the pan involves lowering the subframe a bit
have you guys heard of what russia did to some gas lines in the us?
say hello to maybe expensive gas
hope they enjoy european fuel prices
how will a teen with a low paying job afford gas if he gets 10 mpg?
