#

Tesla is not for you then

#

it never was

#

also it's too expensive to have a electric car here

#

It is for me doe , same they don't even sell Tesla's here

#

gas for my car is cheaper than the charging station under my home

#

Tho model 3 will be sold by the end of the year /next year

fathom socket
#

There are like 2 ev charge stations in my city , just the generic ones no supercharger

#

0,46 USD for kWh

#

there are like 0 super chargers in my regions

#

but 0.46 usd for kWh compared to 0.60 usd for 1 kg of gas

fathom socket
#

πŸ˜‚

#

also

#

I'm saying chargers

#

at home I would pay 0,15 usd per kWh

#

Electricity cost is just 0.053 per kWh here

#

electricity is getting taxed here because of emissions

#

If it's commercial it's 0.067

#

commercial would be more expensive

#

and I can't imagine how much

#

but yeah

#

electricity is too expensive to be economical

#

Here it does make sense

#

But cars are too expensive

#

if I'll move to switzerland

#

The average car price here is 10k usd

#

the only electric vehicle that I would buy would be motorcycle

fathom socket
#

:/

#

Too much lol

#

and the price range could be from 500-2000 usd

#

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeet

#

basically you see brand new cars or shit boxes

#

Oof

#

There are loads of mercs in my city

#

And I did see a lambo

#

And Ferraris

#

Most popular are like sedans and hatches sub 10k

#

@fathom socket what cars do you see there?

#

If I could say

#

crap from germany

fathom socket
#

BMWs, Vw, opel

#

and maybe some cheap japanese ones too

#

Oh nice

#

the issue is most of them are literally imported from germany and they are in shit condition

#

my one is from poland

#

so it wasn't imported and at least mechanically he car has no issues

#

beside the steering rack leaking

#

These are the 2 worst cars I've seen and they are everywhere here

#

there are so many focuses MK1 still on the road

#

but 98% of them are diesel

#

Oof

#

My dad's car only has petrol

#

LPG is quite cheap here

#

because it isn't taxed so heavily

#

Oh

fathom socket
#

Not lpg , I'm talking about petrol

#

1,38 usd for 1 liter for ron 95 petrol

#

Oh

#

Gas cars sound weird doe

#

or 0,60 usd for 1l of LPG

#

usually during the summer it get's down to 0,48 usd per l

There are actually some roundabouts in America. They aren't common, but they exist.

I dont understand people buying offroad vehicles painting them white...
There are only beige/tan or green as colors to choose from, everything else is a waste of paint

remote ridge
#

What you mean

#

You know you can wash off dirt right

fathom socket
#

If you have e.g. a car painted white and go offroad, its no longer white, its tan.
So paint your offroad vehicle tan in the first place, its not getting dirty.

remote ridge
#

Just hit it with a pressure washer once you get home

#

And boom car is back to original color

#

That might just be me getting salty cause I want to buy a retired school bus and outfit it to take the boys offroading

fathom socket
#

arent school busses in the US are yellow/brown ish?

remote ridge
#

Side note my goal is to be able to offroad any vehicle

#

They are a bright yellow

#

The brown is rust

#

And they are diesels

fathom socket
#

And? Most cars in Germany & Europe are diesels

remote ridge
#

No, I'm saying it's a cool thing

#

Especially for off road use

fathom socket
#

I prefer gasoline more RPM, more roawr

remote ridge
#

Typically I would agree

fathom socket
#

RPM need to go 5-digit

remote ridge
#

But low end torque with diesels is great for offroading

#

And carrying lots of passengers

fathom socket
#

Well, I'm about getting myself a quad. And those are also gasoline. Though I have reduction gear for that.

remote ridge
#

I think quads can get away with being gasoline because they are so light compared to trucks

#

Then again I could be wrong about needing low end torque for offroading

#

Cause in the us atleast mostly just trucks, vans, and buses use diesel and those are all built for hauling stuff or people

stoic ledge
#

And especially the last 5-ish years, their shares dropped big time

fathom socket
remote ridge
#

Makes sense

#

Time spent refueling is money lost

stoic ledge
#

The additional torque is useful for towing and/or in mountain regions

#

However the latter isn't really that valid anymore with turbochargers on gas cars, giving them almost a diesel like character

#

(for commercial vehicles there's still an advantage with diesel)

fathom socket
#

Its also about maintenance..

That could be many things. If the idle bounces up and down, that's an indication of a failing O2 sensor as the ECU is chasing the correct stoichiometric value. Could also be dirty injectors, worn out spark plugs, plug wires need to be replaced, throttle body gummed up. Any check engine light lit?

it's LPG conversion

whole lagoon
#

Oh, in that case, yeah.

#

There is no diagnostics. You reinvented the engine way out of original spec. Your troubleshooting involves "does it run or not. If not, try again"

proven zenith
#

I've never heard of anyone removing an OBD port

fathom socket
#

I'm just so tired because I need to wait 4 weeks for just a guy to connect a computer to my car and pay 50 euros

#

there is sadly only 1 shop that has the scanner/computer to do that

proven zenith
#

what car is it?

fathom socket
#

focus mk1

proven zenith
#

And its got a stock ECU?

fathom socket
#

I have no idea

whole lagoon
#

Probably not a stock ECU as the fuel map tables will be completely different than what LNG calls for.

fathom socket
#

it still has to run on gasoline

proven zenith
#

Yes but if you have an aftermarket ECU you might be able to connect it to a laptop with a normal USB

#

My aftermarket ecu connects via USB and will show fault codes

fathom socket
#

OH

#

I see now

#

it's because OBD connection is busy

#

yeah the LPG controller is tapped to OBD port

whole lagoon
#

Piggy back mod.

fathom socket
#

this is how it manages the engine

whole lagoon
#

So long as it runs on gasoline, you might be able to temporarily disconnect it from OBD if it's plugged in and not spliced into the wiring itself

#

God only knows.

fathom socket
#

I literally have no idea how it's connected

whole lagoon
#

You bought this car used that way I'm assuming?

fathom socket
#

it's something I need to do from the LPG computer

#

yeah

proven zenith
#

You're best taking it to a garage. Loss of coolant/Headgasket failure wouldn't likely thow up a code anyway

whole lagoon
#

Original owner never provided any documentation or contact info as to whom performed the mod?

fathom socket
#

I mean I have legal papers

#

and a manual

charred depot
#

if you plug in the scanner before starting the car does it not take priority

whole lagoon
#

I mean, if LNG mod was aftermarket, that's a pretty big deal. If I was the seller to a new owner, I would have at least informed the buyer as to the history of the mod, and whom performed it in case of needing future service. Pretty sketchy to not have discussed it

whole lagoon
#

It's not like a turbo or NOS addon

#

LNG is daily driver stuff

charred depot
#

maybe it has another port on the lpg module then :/

proven zenith

Karma for betraying the petroleum gods πŸ˜†

#

I think I have an idea

#

Pull the fuse if I find it

charred depot
#

probably inline on the cable somewhere

#

how is deesel vs lpg over there

fathom socket
#

they try to YEET the diesel out

#

and I think most of the cars run on diesel

charred depot
#

our government hard pushed diesel a fair bit ago

fathom socket
#

and most gasoline cars are converted to LPG

charred depot
#

then went ofuck no go back

fathom socket
#

back in the day We had BIO diesel

#

I was super young

#

but DIESEL that runs on LPG

charred depot
#

was going up some steep twisty road, I wouldnt say mountain but certainly a hill. Could of done with some diesel power

#

the little 1.3 was not happy

fathom socket
#

my 1.8 petrol has troubles going up hill

#

especially when I stop

#

It's so difficult to move without wheelspin

charred depot
#

It wouldnt of been so much of a issue but i couldnt carry much speed due to it being a narrow single track road with alot of plant growth

#

swing around a bend at the wrong moment and meet someone flying down

fathom socket
#

I can imagine that

#

I always scream at my mom to put 2nd gear and engine brake

and not drive on neutral or clutch

charred depot
#

youd be flying or cooking your brakes if you did that heh

fathom socket
#

new car/engine is cheaper than you life

charred depot
#

i was doing dumb acceleration then heavy braking before it which faded my brakes a fair bit

fathom socket
#

I remember that Polish Coach that fell in France because brakes overheated

#

I thin that was it

#

idk

charred depot
#

some of the busses here literally have bent wheels

fathom socket
#

I remember there was an incident with a Coach that raised the age for D and C licenses

charred depot
#

was age actually the issue : /

fathom socket
#

the man was very young and basically used normal brakes instead of engine or R brake

charred depot
#

better training could of also been something to look at

fathom socket

but I still need to be 24 to drive a motorcycle

this happened to a bus here a fair bit ago

not many photos of it

I own my battery electric car for about 2 months now. Im at about 4k km already. πŸ˜…

No, still the eUP

#

I suppose I have a yearly "mileage" of over 20k km

huh? I ordered the eUP February 2020.
I got it mid February 2021.

So Im effectively using it since 2 months. I have about 4k km on the display.

#

At last I got the car.

#

And I know how its acceleration. Its acceptable, but not well for taking over trucks between 70kph to 120kph.
It weights about 1,3tons and comes with a 61kW engine.
Thats about 21,5kg/kW or approx. 11sec from 0-100kph (0-60mph)

Or 10,9kg/kW, so about twice as good acceleration.

if you are a old fart its cheap but if you are young oh ho ho.

fathom socket
#

Quads are considered either PKW (cars) or vehicles for agriculture & forestry.

#

Per definition, u either pay for ccm (road quad) or weight (offroad quad).

charred depot
#

ah here insurance is based on way too many statistics effectively making it a random number generator imo

fathom socket
#

Which country?

charred depot
#

UK

fathom socket
#

Greetings from DE

charred depot
#

I like your seasonal plates which coincide with insurance

fathom socket
#

yeah... Motorcycles usually only have seasonal plates. So that u dont need to pay when its not in use during winter

charred depot
#

here its basically pay for the entire year lol

#

even if you are only going to use the car for a few months a year

fathom socket
#

I decided for a Quad instead of a motorcylce because although I like speed, I do like offroad even more.

charred depot
#

Some cars no insurance company will give me temporary insurance on to get home so i either need to pay for transportation or get a year of insurance on it

fathom socket
#

And for motorcycles u need to make another license in the driving school, while Quads count as car.

proven zenith
charred depot

yeah its just a pain even for stuff thats local

could risk it but id rather not have a 2 year ban

proven zenith

electric fans in cars are brushless?

solemn inlet
