You can tune the B38 a fair bit.

#

I know of some people who tuned a 218i Coupe to 200 hp.

#

From 135 hp.

#

So 50% increase

fathom socket
civic spoke

But a more normal tune would be around 40 hp increase.

Does overclocking engines have similar effects to overclocking CPUs , i.e. does it make the car less efficient and make the engine run hotter?@civic spoke

civic spoke
#

Yeah.

fathom socket
#

Makes sense

civic spoke
#

You're telling the engine to pump in more air and fuel into the combustion chamber.

fathom socket
#

Yes

civic spoke
fathom socket
#

Oh okay

But you're putting a lot more stress on the engine when you do.

I am thinking of building one next year , not sure what engine to use

Like what specifications should I look for

civic spoke
#

Most people just use a lawnmower engine.

fathom socket
#

Oh

#

I have a old 2 wheeler activa lying around in the garage , it has a 7hp engine , I'm thinking of a way to use that

civic spoke
#

You could probably do that. Just remember that you generally want something with a centrifugal clutch. Unless it's something you can add yourself.

fathom socket
#

Oh okay

civic spoke
#

Oh, it's a scooter engine. Could probably work with that.

The most simple way would be to just make a 3 wheeler. And keep the original rear wheel and everything.

That's normal if its a shitty battery, especially if its not the right group size

#

however, you should do a drain test to see if its got a parasitic draw

#

there could be something staying on that causes it to run down all the time, thus wrecking the battery even though its somewhat newer

#

Its likely it needs a new battery no matter what, but you should make sure there's no electrical problems that may kill a new battery first

sinful creek
#

huh, I guess it is a lead acid battery and it was sitting for a while in the winter without being started :/

ruby fable

So for a V8 what would a typical amount of camshafts? I've seen conflicting information. On some websites they show single camshafts and some show double(one per side of the engine I assume) and I also found a pic from google with 4 camshafts

V8s will have 1-4 camshafts, but not 3.

#

Hello everyone

civic spoke
# ruby fable So for a V8 what would a typical amount of camshafts? I've seen conflicting info...

This is a short TL;DR for V-configurations. I guess it also applies to inline engines as well.
Pushrod engines have a single camshaft, near the crankshaft. Controlling intake/exhaust valves for both heads.
Overhead cam engines will have a single camshaft for each of its head. Taking care of the intake/exhaust valves for each head.
Dual overhead cam engines will have two camshafts for each head. One camshaft controlling intake, other exhaust.

#

So normally 1, 2, or 4 camshafts.

in the UK I advocate (fruitlessly) for L/100miles

in mpg you know hey, if I have a gallon of fuel this is how far I can go

In Australia, we have to:
Display our L plates on the front and back
Drive with adults with open license
You and anyone in the car cannot use phones or even in car infotainment

oh and to actually get your learners license you have to be 16 and do an online course that goes for a couple hours.

You have to record your driving hours, once you are 17 and have 100 day hours and 10 night hours you can get your P plates. P plates = drive alone but under alcohol limits and driving offences are taken more seriously etc.

flint sable
#

Oh yeah we also need to drive with an adult in the car

#

We don’t need learner plates either

fathom socket
#

Here you need to turn 18

#

And that's it

#

You can read a book when you driving

#

But I think we have stupid speed limits that are ridiculous and I think dangerous when you drive for the first 8 months

regal mason
dense shard

Problem is title paperwork.

night current
#

Don't you need the papers to get the plate though?

dense shard
#

Not having a title is a huge pain to deal with when registering it.

#

You need papers.

regal mason
#

Not for this since it's technically not a motorcycle

#

I think

dense shard
#

If it's over 50cc it's not a scooter.

#

To register and title your ND motorcycle, you'll need: Signed over title. Bill of sale and old registration if bought in a state that doesn't issue titles.

#

In North Dakota, it would be more effort than it's worth.

#

If you can get paperwork, that would increase the price, get it running, and that's just excellent.

regal mason
#

Ahh ok it runs and drives nicely by the way

dense shard
#

oh that's excellent.

#

My offer still stands. lol

#

I'm too lazy to deal with missing paperwork.

regal mason

Makes sense

dense shard

regal mason

I traded it off of a guy for a dirt bike I had that didnt drive cause of the chain

remote ridge

Well yeah depends on the situation

#

Coolest thing ever

regal mason
#

That's cool

remote ridge
#

I seriously thought it was off when I was walking up to it

regal mason
#

But yeah I'm trying to trade it for a dirt bike since there are a lot of offroad trails around here

#

And I find the most joy in offroading

remote ridge
#

If I were you I would was it as best I could and then touch up paint where you can

#

That plus minor repairs will give a much higher value

regal mason
#

Like what kind of repairs are you thinking

remote ridge
#

That seat does look a little loose

#

Pictures on pavement or cement do look a lot better as well

regal mason

Ahh it's actually on just fine and nice and tight it's justtthe way it looks in the pic

remote ridge

I figured

regal mason

I'm hoping that an iphone 12 pro should be able to get better pictures than the ones I just took

remote ridge
#

Resolution isn't always the most important, lighting, angles and background are what will make or break it

regal mason
#

What's a good background

#

For this specific thing

remote ridge
#

Probably the road or a garage door

regal mason
#

Ok I have a garage door on cement

#

So that's good

remote ridge
#

Perfect

regal mason

Let me take a couple really quick tell me what you think hold on a minute

Okay

How do these look

remote ridge

Now that looks a lot better

regal mason

I would also do the other side as well

#

And some close ups on some other important things

remote ridge
#

Yeah definitely get both sides, and close ups

regal mason
#

Yeah

#

Oh and it will also come with another frame for it if i still have it which I think I do

#

And another engine

remote ridge
#

It seriously went from looking like it was old and broken down to a pretty decent motorcycle

regal mason
#

I also just remembered that it's only 49 cc

remote ridge
#

You can definitely get 1-1.5k for this

regal mason
#

Sweet

#

I dont think it actually needs the papers then since it's less than 50cc

remote ridge
#

I would list it at 1.5 and then if they try to negotiate stay firm but let them bring it down to no less than 1250

regal mason
#

Ok good idea

#

I might do a little less but I like that idea

remote ridge
#

Yeah, basically just list it a little higher than you actually want to get

regal mason
#

I also have another engine for it that I would throw in

remote ridge
#

Honestly you could sell the engine separate and get more for it

regal mason
#

It's a 70cc but its older and is like more of a moped style

remote ridge
#

There are plenty of people who would buy a small cc engine for a gokart build

regal mason
#

Ok

#

Thanks for the help

remote ridge
#

No problem

regal mason
#

Well I think 1k is enough for a dirtbike

remote ridge
#

Yeah, near me there are a few listed under 1k and they look decent

regal mason
#

Cool

remote ridge
#

Also make sure you have someone to with you when you make the sell and the buy

regal mason
#

Why

remote ridge
#

It's just a lot safer

#

I consider myself fairly strong and I would still go with someone
