then you can drastically reduce the peaks in demand
which limits the amount of new stations you need
if you can use your car as a tesla power wall
well then we are talking about hydrogen cell tech
then the average capacity increases but the peaks go down
toyota is on it
Don't need hydrogen cells
just a connector on the car that allows your house to use your car as a source of electricity
drain during peak times and charge during off peak
again doesent work for most people that live in UK cities
how will car produce the energy ?
hes talking about the car "selling" electricity back to the grid
when the grid is at peak usage
apartments usually
ok
Well tbh not even a skateboard, because that would mean you also have fixed wheelbase, width, suspension points etc. I'd even suggest going as far as just batteries and motors (+ necessary control units)
Or maybe even a modular battery system π
The only worthwhile ev is a onewheel xD
id love to do a ev conversion on a rx8 if they started to punish petrol / diesel owners in some way
EV rx8 is a waste of the chassis
bruh youd need a train motor to move a crown vic
Listen if a 200hp v8 can do it some tesla motors can
Crown vic 4100lbs
I bet it'll be like 4700lbs lmao
that isn't even bad
i mean it's heavy sure but teslas are heavy anyway so not much of a diff
Just do it rich mini style
can you imagine a miata as an ev? not that there's space for it but damn that would scoot
Many have been done bop it into youtube
Nah just a regular swap
ye thats not what i meant but same concept i guess
A tesla battery is probably longer than the wheel base of a miata lmao
wouldn't surprise me
lmao
oft, i hate dealing with plastic trim
id probably glue it sand it then paint it all over paying $400 heh
But first 10$ on glue lmao
Both are cracked and the left one has no mounting tabs left
Not the best move, but okay
Itβs like the less cool version of the raptor Area 51 patrol trucks
Still better than our VW Amaroks
ngl everyone ive seen driving a amarok in the uk is scum
Basically yes
The thing is, it doesn't even have stuff like low range gearbox, a lockable diff or whatever
And the π³π± military Amarok is equipped with the 2.0 TDI, which is a fragile as, idk an egg
The current 3.0 TDI is better
risky parking near a agila
ah yeah agilas the one witht he long tail lights
i dont know why both exist they seem to be very similar.
Agila was the Viva/Karl predecessor
i swear ive seen a 2018 agila
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Agila
Production ended in 2014 so unlikely π
The Opel Agila (from Lat. agilis, "agile") is a city car produced under the German marque Opel from 2000 to 2014, as a rebadged variant of the Suzuki Wagon R+ (first generation) and the Suzuki Splash (second generation). It has been marketed under the Vauxhall marque in the United Kingdom.
Its first generation was classified as a city car, wher...
To be more specific January 2014
well thank god for that but as it would turn out viva drivers are just as bad
looks like a chevy spark and a mazda 2
The Viva/Karl is basically a Spark yes, slight changes
ah
Moosic
Bumpin

@stoic ledge what is the point in an Amarok without the V6??
In the UK not many pickups have them, only reason to get an Amarok
most of the pickup trucks i see in the UK are mitsubishi L200's which have a 2.2 i4 turbo diesel
Yanks would hate it here, all trucks are 4cl diesels
L200s navaras rangers mostly
Odd Amarok here and there
if i was going to tow often in the UK id probably get a l200
not that expensive a vehicle too everything considered
Before the facelift it was 2.0 TDI only
After they found out it's horrendous they put in the 3.0 TDI V6
Lol yeah it's a car often driven by older people who shouldn't drive anymore
Mahindra Thar
lol
In 1948, the company changed its name to Mahindra & Mahindra.[7] They eventually saw a business opportunity in expanding into manufacturing and selling larger MUVs and started assembling under licence of the Willys Jeep in India. Soon, M&M was established as the Jeep manufacturer in India, later commenced manufacturing light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and agricultural tractors.
@dense shard
Yes, I'm aware.
your implication was that they copied it without trying to look like anything but a jeep
why they'd still it any way other than in a jeep style, idk
Because automakers tend to protect their IP. In this case Jeep has won a court case against Mahindra in the US.
And I look at that, and it looks like a knock off Wrangler.
yes they have license and all but you can tell they copied, when you look at the inside of the thing, you can see at least inspiration from the wrangler, and even then, even if they started with the same thing, they coulda made it look different, but this looks to me like a husky baby wrangler
Okay had to dig a bit.
Turns out Mahindra does have a license to build the Thar from Jeep. They can't sell it in the US
And in the case of the Roxor, they lost a case in the US
cleann
roadkill is a good car show have any of you guys seen it?
no it does not, only issue that might come up is the clutch getting stuck and like a 2hp "increase" but its more harmfull not to run ac than running it all the time.
I stopped watching roadkill when it stopped being free
the amount of power my AC takes away from my car is comedic, i use to help dry out the inside before setting off though.
send it
yes right into the snow MMMM
A bit of both
demio! don't see those often
koenigsegg jesko, is it not?

Finally got the chance to check out this trail. Very easy with moderate sections. Tested out how the Explorer handles with the RTT up top. Even got to deploy the ARB awning along with the RTT. Ate lunch at the helo pad towards the end of the trail!

So if i retire my current explorer it will have a use
yall should watch this very informative video
I show why is it important to not only fill your tires up to the correct pressure but also use the CORRECT AIR! Learn how to replace winter air, with summer air!
Most people know when filling your car or truck tries that you need to fill it to the correct air pressure. What people dont know, is the air that goes into the tires is just as import...
Actually there is a difference
Summer air has a lot more humidity in it, making the tire heavier and also increasing the amount of power needed to rotate it.
no, those wheels are great
And as we all know, based on the size of the average tire, one pound is triple that in rotational force. So one pound of extra humidity adds roughly 3 pounds more of rotational inertia. So I highly recommend you keep winter air in your tires at all times. You can buy a gallon of it at Advance Auto Parts or AutoZone for $12.99.
dang, them wheels look great
i might have my sister "help me out" and go get some blinker fluid and winter air
Thats a wonderful idea
Might as well ask her about piston return springs as well
While you're in there, you might as well replace them.
i mean if im going to take that drive, im going to get a muffler bearing
A very good idea, don't want your car sounding like the Honda driving down your street at 3:00 AM.
no kidding
See if you can pick up a piston return spring compressor while you're at it. It makes the job much easier.
thanks i didnt even think about that
Might as well buy a dingleberry hone for the cylinder walls as well
Heh
Make cylinder cross hatching amazing again
Awesome
That image looks like it belongs to an instagram user by the name of youcanneverhaveenough who has multiple photos including that exact one on their instagram page.
So I would recommend actually owning the car before worrying about changing the wheels.

We keep saying that Ken Blockβs Ford Mustang Hoonicorn was never meant to be a drag car. So how does it stack up next to an actual drag car? We hit up Chris P. of Aint Skeerd Racing (who helped us with local tire mounting) to bring out his β66 Nova SS, since it had all the right drag car ingredients. A big block, big wrinkle slicks, an auto tran...

This car is in good driving condition, no engine or known problems. There is a squeaky noise coming from the righ joint of the wheels, easy fix. We got the other side fixed last year for $280. You can drive with it no problem.New engine was in the car when purchased the car 3 years ago. Some rust on the side bottoms, but very minimal. Selling as...
should i go for it?
I should really check out that rust
we call that a honda accord here
oh noo, pretending to own a rs7 smh.
id own a diesel manual accord of that style but insurance no likey it :^(
i need to find a old e36 318i will probably have to do 250 miles for one.
is it just me that likes to see what cars my neighbours are selling
i like to look locally to see if theres anything interesting if thats what you mean
Whose reallly have some shitty gearboxes
Or rather clutch/flywheel
something to do on the weekend ig
on the lines of something i have to do that ive been putting off is put new front struts and springs on our 2002 civic then diy align it
it so crusty and the only heat source i have is a lighter
probably have to get a shitty plumbers torch atleast
not even sure if im going to replace the struts just looks like they could do with getting done and saves having to align it again in a year when the strut completely turns to dust
knobless and jobless
Update: my sister totally fell for it
But I freaked out for a bit when she came back out to the car asking for the year
We calculated the size of piston return springs
Measured what size muffler bearing we would need
It was amazing
Until she punched my arm multiple times
this car looks cool
something that you don't see everyday
unless u drive it
or your neighbour does
looks like a peugot 1007/2007 to me
mans got them sliding doors doe
much more of a flex than like scissors
I wnat it
looks like a cool city car
electric conversion would be cool
but I live in a city without any chargers
and I can't have charger in a soviet era building because parking lot
That's a 1007
Tbh those doors are known to have some electrical issues
Also, it's a heavy car
it was on top gear
certified car of note
Part one of two. With an influx of small cars on the market, who better to test them than Mrs Hammond, Mrs Clarkson and Mrs May? The Renault Modus, Honda Jazz and Peugeot 1007 are put through their paces by the team's mothers in a series of challenges!

I still see a lot of moduses
Any one catch the new episode of the grand tour on Amazon prime?
what's amazon prime?
I cought it but not on Prime π
Oh that's what it's called where I live
amazon is just blocked here
Yeah that was high tech back in the day
Although tbh you don't have to use it, the shifter also had N/R/D on it
Yeah it's also called prime here
everytime I just try to buy something on amazon
the payment get's rejected and my credit card gets blocked
That sucks

"I think it's... stately"
I love how someone's mom basically scorched a car.
Someone sent this in another server
Is that rear wheel fender normal or is this a wannabe Ferrari
Definitely not a real Ferrari
Fiero maybe
That's probably a fiero.
Here's a fun video I recorded when I did the timing chain on my car: https://youtu.be/f5DInSycuBI
You can see the tensioner filling with oil pressure and stop wobbling
Fact: LTT should get a lift installed in their workshop (they are better equipped than most automotive shops anyway) and start fucking around with cars. Installing RGB and gaming PCs and stuff, letting Dennis try to do an oil change, stuff like that
I wonder if I should get new rims for the next season.
The amount my car bounces at 70mph is not the most reassuring, the shocks seem alright other than having broken dust covers on the front.
You can get the shocks tested in a shop with vibrating pads to make sure
LTT should focus more on automotive tech content.
Reviewing infotainment isn't something many car channels cover.
^
Only channel I know of that goes into detail on audio and infotainment is SavageGeese.
Also you can hack the infotainment systems and do whatever on them
Yeah he's an acquired taste but he goes more in-depth on the little details than anyone else IMO
And he bought a Nogaro Blue Audi RS2 recently which makes him good in my book
I suppose.
As for hacking infotainment. You aren't gonna add any extra features that you didn't option in to begin with.
Oh but you are, there's an entire scene dedicated to unlocking stuff like Apple Car Play or allowing you to watch YouTube or browse the web
I don't think it'd be much of a challenge to hook up a gaming PC on there
Or like sideload apps to display CAN Bus data from the ECU in real-time
You really don't want to watch youtube while driving.
Sure but you can't even do it while parked
As for ECU data. you can buy a 5 dollar dongle from amazon, and use a free app on your phone. Chances are the phone is several times more powerful than your car's nav unit.
also true but it's cleaner that way
I'll be honest. I never had a desire to watch videos in my car.
I can appreciate unlocking carplay/android auto tho.
I mean with how complicated and high quality the audio systems in modern cars are getting, you're basically driving around in a home theater
But I'm just waiting on a newer Corolla to end up in the junkyard so I can pull that unit, and just swap it in.
You vastly overestimate the modern automotive stereo.
Maybe. I'm more of a headphone guy
same
Cars are honestly the worst case senario for sound design.
You are in a loud box with lots of reflective surfaces, and none of the people in the car are sitting in a good spot.
Couple that with severe budget constraints, and you get potatoes for speakers.
These things are getting fixable with software though. Look at the Apple HomePods for example, really fascinating stuff
I don't think software can fix a bad enviroment.
And the speaker quality itself tends to be fairly weak.
Could be worse. Could be Ford's B&O stereo upgrade which is supposedly worse than the stock setup.
Yeah if I were into Car HiFi I'd do a DIY setup or let a specialized company take care of it. I don't think OEMs pay much attention to more than "ooga dooga bass"

All I'd really need right now is android auto.
Turns out Toyota's app and Scout GPS tie in is tragic.
I'm on a jailbroken iPhone that allows me to have the phone basically display the Apple Car Play UI
Never buying a white car again
Just washed it 4 days before I took this pic
jet washed 2 days before
Black and white cars aren't the best colors when they become dirty
that green but actually blue honda to the right hides dirt really well
washing it is the most unrewarding thing ever
Sometimes I see cars that dirty
That I've seen a wite van
That just became muddy Grey
Or gray
Or Gary
ive seen a black car so dirty it looked like it had no number plate
Yeah
That too
I see that too often
Dude that's definitely not normal and that's a major safety hazard, something is wrong
My car just wobbles form left to right
I need new bushings in my suspension
i always wondered why doing 75 felt like death
75 mph
mph yeah
the blue cars front struts
mot ez pass with "corrosion but not extreme" or some shit
You often can't visually tell if a shock is bad or not. But if it shakes like that they're probably really bad. Did MOT check the shocks on a vibrating pad?
nah
This doesn't look like mild surface rust
yeah the place we go to is quite a lenient one
its where all the people with their rusty bangers go
If you shake the car yourself, you can see which corner is the offender (likely both though with how bad that's shaking
i tried that but i dont think i can move it enough
tie rod ends have been a advisory on my car for years
Definitely go to a shop then that has one of these pads and get them replaced. You could easily lose traction in a corner with that wobbling
we only really have 1 motorway near me so i rarely am doing above 60
Still, this is only going to get worse and at some point the wheels will take off during the bounces
ill see how well i get on with the honda that i have to change the struts on
change mine if it goes well enough
It's not that hard, just take your time and do it by the book. A helping hand is also advisable. Careful with the springs. Use a torque wrench for tightening the bolts
i once used zip ties to keep a spring tensioned so always careful
Them's beefy zip ties. lttstore.com?
i stole them from my old work
I mean if it works... the risk of injury is pretty big though if they fail
Springs and belts are 2 things I don't fuck with
those were pretty high load rated expensive zip ties and i used a bunch of them
Fair enough
Gas struts often don't get visibly wet when they leak so they might look fine but are actually useless
i would have BC racing coilovers on it but insurance are meanies
i plan to source a e36 318i soon enough to switch to
Nice, good cars
main issue i have is i need one that has the 1.8 or smaller engine
alot more of the bigger engined ones still around
Well if you're looking for a boring but dependable, fuel efficient and comfortable daily, I can recommend the 1.6 Audi A4 B5. Although I might be severely biased
the 1.8 20V engine isn't really worth it over the 1.6
not a fan of audis, i have weird tastes
more going for the e36 as a second car to work on that i dont need to have in drivable condition all the time
That's fair, them Beamers are definitely more sporty and fun
Although sadly the Mercs and Beamers from the 90s and early 2000s had rust problems because they didn't have fully galvanized bodies while Audi did since the late 80s. Rust isn't an issue on those cars
im planning to get good enough at welding sheet metal to get cars through MOT's
the standard is pretty much as long as they can hit it with their hammer and hammer is not inside the sill it is A ok
yeah that's a great skill to have, really useful for exhaust work too
Ik for camper vans it's gotta be a continuous weld all around if it's a patch kinda deal
Cars you could probably just whack a bit of flex tape on it
i have a friend that does my MOT's he gets most of the people with old retro cars that arent properly restored with 100 patches on the sills
he'll still fail things but isnt anal.
hes booked up for ages atm, problem with good small shops.
anyone watch f1?
ok
I wonder how 7.5x17 ET30 would fit on my car...
on the roundabout which has all the roadworks to add traffic lights no ones using both lanes up to where it goes into one lane so its jamming up the previous roundabout :^ |
i dont want to get into road rage so im also not using it heh #sheeple
Ouch
Just got a warning for the car meme
I guess they didn't like the dodge challenged
Idk
But we must respect the moderators decisions
my wallet is crying rn trying to fit a 4.8l LS into my 1985 s10
My wallet is crying trying to get my audi into the service position
Rough.
That straight cut gear howling
What Audi?
A4
There's 5 generations of A4
1997
the tools that they want you to use are super expensive
the cam locking bar for the v6 is like $300 from audi
so i had to go chinese ebay route
5V DOHC V6?
This Jaguar XK120 was once the fastest production car in the world. This 1954 example has been in the Wile family for decades and boy does it sound incredible. I'm honored to have been trusted to drive this car. It was quite intimidating. Once you hear the first little crunch of the gearbox shifting into first it really keeps you on your toes to...
God I wish that was me
Until one of the felt shaft seals or cork gaskets starts leaking
beautiful machine
yo what
you can get a 6 series for like sub 5k now
although i bet ur first service will be more than that...
Question is - Would you want one for that price?
i'd probs wanna pay at least 8k or something as long as its in decent condition
but still didnt expect that for some reason
It's the classic.
"Just because you can afford to buy one, doesn't mean you can afford to own one."
What could possibly go wrong
figured out one of my neighbours has an RC F
Don't do it, it's a meme and it will bankrupt you
check out Hoovies garage and Watch JR Go on YouTube, they regularly buy cheap old BMWs and they're always a train wreck money sink. Top tier entertainment

Mfw 3 series for sub-600$ that runs
My cheap 400β¬ A4 is getting close to 2 Grand and I'll have to put in another ~500 to get it through mot Next year
there's nothing more expensive than a cheap German car
Now granted that includes 4 new tires and wheels as well as a ton of preventative maintenance but still
i got 4 jz engirn
lol
200,000 dollars
i have 69jz engine
nioce
me too
Aw man what happened?
Looks like something bad happened.
Love when people have like 7 free parking spots next to me
And they do this next to my car
#ParkingIsHard
We have a guy on our street who can't park straight to save their life.
thats so true
theres one guy on our street that parks his car on the curb but he has a massive truck and he's bad at parking so its basically in the middle of the road
at one of our supermarkets the spaces are like 2 meters wide so door dings are common, alot of people just park in 2 bays heh.
these spaces are pretty large since under OBI
yes
its got the manual too
full leather interior
bose sound system
sunroof
power driver seat
paid $500 for it
got a good deal
no rust
has 114k miles
was parked because the guy didnt want to get it rusty in illinois when he moved from one of the carolinas
found a couple pictures
it was sitting for 12 years i think
I'm changing the timing belt now
Thats where I'm at
Looks like a good little car.
Nice man good find! They don't rust though
well good luck with the belts. Definitely check the timing chain tensioners too if you take the Valve covers off
will do
I think the V6 uses the exact same setup as the 1.8
i hope to have this driving and registered by sometime next year
its gonna be interesting to see how this rad mount swings out like ive heard it does
It just moves forward a bit but honestly I'd just take the front off completely, it's not that much more work but will give you so much more access
Also allows you to properly flush the cooling system
it does have something going on with the clutch
for some reason the pedal wont go all the way down
guessing its some seal or something
or a seized cylinder
Yeah that'd be my guess with the cylinder
otherwise the brakes got replaced right before it was parked
and they work great
all of the electrics work except for the driver door speakers (guessing its a broken wire) and the passenger mirror power up/down (bad contact because it works 1/10 times)
im lucky that i got the manuals otherwise i wouldve had to replace the radio
the radio needs a code if they have no power
I had to replace the window regulator. That was fun
driver door's a bit saggy though, gotta see what I'm gonna do about it
do you have the nice sound system?
Nope, aside from the glass roof it's poverty spec. Don't even have AC
oof
i think mine is one of the highest trim models
Quattro?
nope
i heard that it had issues that model year too
ESP?
i believe so
i think it has basically everything except for quattro
Nice I think that was only standard on the last V6 Cars, before that it was optional
i want to say that it is the 4s trim model
but id have to check the title
it has the headlight washers which i still think are more of a novelty
it sure made the bumper hard to get off
Does it have xenons?
i dont think so
i think it has incandescents
Hm interesting. Headlight washers are mandated in Germany for Xenons, as well as an automatic pitch regulator (the left most blank button on your center console would be the little dial for the pitch regulator)
i dont have the pitch regulator dial
I can definitely recommend a coolant flush too
took like 50 liters for it to become clear
Now it warms up in like 5 minutes of driving, it's great
the only thing thats gonna be a little bit of a pain with this car is the fact that it calls for premium gas
its definitely better than my mom's old minivan though
That's for the entire EU yes
im in the US so it might be different
I think I legitimately had a rats nest in the air filter box. Poor thing barely ran, it was completely neglected. Didn't even start most of the time because of the little coil around the ignition cylinder that reads the chip in the key for the immobilizer
The US doesn't have it, they're probably scared US people don't know how to use it
it would probably be a bunch of people with the pitch all the way up blinding people
For some reason my sister-in-laws Polo with halogen bulbs has headlight washers, idk why
Exactly
That's exactly how it is where I live
people don't use em

the US is big stupid
WA
Someone bought a car from cross country and just happened to live in the one county here that has an inspection
and they made him take them out
not exactly sure why
I guess it could reflect light weirdly while spraying or something? That's the only explanation I can think of
maybe? my state has weird laws about cars that are literally never enforced
but he happened to live in the one area that has inspections + get a picky guy
π€
the audi washers seem sort of useless
like they blanket ban modifications but then also say which ones are and aren't allowed
it makes no sense
they dont have the little wipers
they just spray a crap ton of solvent
and then stop
Yeah just the sprayers are pretty useless
i dont even have emissions where i live
I'm glad my county doesn't have inspections bc my car would fail the shit out of one
Mine only has one oxygen sensor in front of the cat, could easily remove it on the older ones
you can drive around with lap belts around here and they dont care whatsoever
you should see the amount of cars with built in smokescreens around here
Lol
We have a pretty thorough inspection every two years here in Germany, they check the entire suspension, shocks, look for oil leaks, check all the lights and the horn, the brakes and they do an emissions test.
And you can't even change the air filter over to a different one without registering it most of the time
Same with wheel sizes and lowering springs and stuff
I would fail for crappy tires, oil leak, small exhaust leak, and probably headlights too
That's usually fine when all the components are TΓΌv certified
Imagine volontarily driving around with crappy tires
well they're not that bad bc the crappy part isn't touching the road

plus i barely been driving the car at all
bc covid
so
no reason to let fresh new tires sit on the car and age if im not even driving lol
You can get pretty much everything registered if you try hard enough but the police might not believe the paperwork depending on where you live so they'll tow the car and get it inspected again. Only in some of the big cities though
Out in the country? Anything goes
I need to get out there and fix the exhaust leak and stuff but that's obnoxious when its pouring rain
might rain up to 3in tomorrow
Yeah I have an exhaust leak to fix too but I fucked up my hand with an angle grinder a few weeks back so I've been unable to do any wrenching
I imported a Polo from Germany (outskirts of Berlin)
I think all thats wrong with mine is a flange gasket is messed up
Not for me because > VW but my sister in law
I'm replacing the gasket between the manifold and the downpipe, it's leaking like crazy from there and it's right next to the oxygen sensor so it idles poorly
Can actually see it here
https://youtu.be/N-exs1iMLFU the soapy water + leaf blower method is insanely effective, you can find leaks instantly. Highly recommended
Yeah ok that leaks pretty obvious
I just need to get under there and replace that gasket thing
as far as I know there isn't any holes in metal
There's probably like one of those gasket rings in there. Might be able to just tighten it down a bit to fix it

the one on the right was supposed to replace the one on the left, but for now two wagons π
whyd you want to replace the one on the left?
For a family car I would prefer an auto, specifically a cvt
is it a fake shift cvt
not really; bigger more luxurious and has the 3.0TFSI engine π
from the s4
its 6auto not cvt
yea, autos are fine
Audi doesn't have any CVT's.
dsgs and fake shift cvts are absolute garbage
They do, it's called multitronic
Oh. are those CVT's?
only automatic ive been in was a DSG auto i think
The more you know.
IMO the height of Audi design. The C6 RS6 Avant is one of the most beautiful cars ever made in my opinion
yes i agree π
only automatic car ive been in was a Skoda Octavia VRS
everything after the b7 and c6.5 audi are too creased up
So it was only available in the really basic models I take, then.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the Audi my father had.
tiptronic = torque converter
S-Tronic = dual clutch transmission
Multitronic = CVT
R-Tronic = that weird E-Gear automated manual in the 1st Gen R8
i don't care for coupes, but the A5/s5 are also really sexy looking from these years
He had a A4 Avant 2.0 TDI, B8
I don't like VAG cars in general lel
B8.5 A4 and A5 are the last of the old design language of understatement, after that it's basically lambos

yup
I didn't really liked the autobox that the B8.5 had.
That was likely a tiptronic
If I remember right, yeah.
They're gotten really good though, you can't even really tell anymore
They did have a Multitronic
Ah I wasn't the first stating it
My bad
with the b8.5 they had the ZF transsmissions
No worries.
first time i experience driving a "automatic" will probably be a electric car
I just wasn't a fan of how undeceive it was.
Yeah the 8 speed tiptronics are really good and shift quickly. The current RS6 uses them too along with every other premium brand
ZF programming in BMWs is better than in Audi's imho
And throwing it into 'manual' mode didn't really help. Since the manual changes took ages.
And wouldn't allow you to actually redline it.
can be tuned to shift faster
that's what i like about VAG cars in general;
very tune-able
can't wait to tune the a6 π
but have lots of maintenance items to do first
What modern car can't you tune?
My next car will either be a 1.8T 1st Gen TT or a 2.0T C6 A6 Avant. Or maybe both
you in europe ?
Yes
Yeah. As long as it has a turbo, then it's highly tuneable.
;_;
My next car will be a non-VAG Wagon
It really isn't. All depends on how you drive.
you're lucky
That's a big engine over here
you can get the 3.0TDI
My next car will either be another RX-7 or a Toyota minivan
power + eco
Previa
ye
Hmm yeah or the 2.0 TDI
2.0tdi would be a step in the right direction
for the torque to move its fat ass
xD
definitley a fat ass car; especially compared to my a4 xD
In just driving and commuting, power doesn't mean all that much
^
Depending on how much I have to spend:
- Insignia B 1.6T
- V60 II
- BMW F31
:Pogey:
Same
doesn't make sense to have such a big car for commuting
Preferably manual
Torque is what really matters for daily commutes.
can't imagine this car with just 170 xD
Insignia B = Buick Regal for the Americans
Imagine having more than 83
Beautiful car
People would say 100hp is underpowered in most situations, yet all 3 of my cars have 100hp and I've never once thought they were underpowered
the a4 has 250 and it's quite nice
The Buick Regal wagon is actually kinda hot
Yes, but they only have the hatch of TourX wagon, I want the regular wagon
100 hp is only underpowered if you're like 2 tonnes.
My 1.8 has 125 hp and my old Audi 80 2.0 had 90. Perfectly enough for everyday driving
You can get the Insignia as a diesel
Yet you can't get the Regal as one
1.6 CDTI of 2.0 CDTI (up to 2 Turbo's)
The Nissan NV200 is shitty in general lol
car situation in europe is a bit different than canada
Well whatever you do, don't get a Smart ForFour or Renault Twingo with the 0.9L 3cyl it's slow AF with 70 hp and like only 90 Nm torque
Revves to resline shift redline shift redline
Looks at speedo: 40km/h
yea, na diesels are quite gutless
Will run until the heat death of the universe though
yea
- with the small roads in europe; don't need big engines and what not
they can be less gutless if they are gigantic tho
like a big meaty american engine
but since you can get more power with less displacement and a turbo, why bother
sticks opposed piston tank diesel into car
Next car :Pogey:
1.6 Turbo with 200hp, that will suffice
Or like a big ol 2 stroke truck diesel, they're surprisingly rev happy
Looking good π
π
2 stroke truck diesel?
I'll take a triangle engine instead
Much better than my current 83hp
Spinning Dorito
"small_red_triangle"
very accurate description lmfao
π
Sound better than mine
I find it so funny how you can visibly see the lights get brighter when you rev in the Corolla
You guys wanna know what the most silly sound to speed ratio is?
Lol
It's from a 250 cc bike, if I remember right.

when i turn the wheel fast in my mazda 2 the draw from the electric power steering noticably dims the headlights
Pop up headlights are best headlights
45 hp, 25 Nm
My Corsa doesn't
It doesn't dim anything
20k rpm
The RX-7 somehow doesn't dim lights
the rx7 wont have electric power steering heh
well thats them getting brighter
was talking about them getting dimmer from doing something
The RX-7 has about the same amount of lights on it as the Corolla. The Corolla idles higher
But its an unfair comparison now
The RX-7 has LED tail lights and halogen fog lights
when the RX-7 was stock, it didn't dim at all. Even with the light upgrades, it still doesn't dim
but with the fog lights on and the turn signals on, the voltage drop is........quite large
Need to convert to LED turn signals. 2 less constant draw of halogens, and 4 less blinking halogens
only problem is that I have to figure out how to wire in a solid state flasher relay. It has a weird proprietary 7 pin flasher, and you literally cannot find replacements.
even if the pin layout is proprietory or whatever if you can find the pinout for it you might be able to find a replacement thats electronically compatible.
There's a guide on the forums that say you can basically de-pin a couple wires in a connector, then slap them on a 3 pin relay, ground the relay, and it works
@fathom socket U Dutch?
I'm Polish
Looks like Dutch plates, but it has PL on the left
DIdn't know Poland had yellow plates, but based on the car symbol on the plate I'm assuming it are special oldtimer plates?
yep
and we have green plates for electric cars

and US sized plates too
Electric cars don't have other plates here
u can drive on bus/taxi lanes when u have green plates
Yellow = regular
Blue = taxi
Green = dealership
White = import (or small trailer <750kg with the reg of the car)
Darkblue = Old timer <1978
Looks like something out of GTA V
aint that the zenvo?
still looks like something from GTA V
Zenvo TSR or soemthing?
hi
they put a turbo in it?
I don't like the new BRZ
looks a little too much like the 2021 Sienna
which the cabin looks siick
TL;DR I'll take a 2021 Sienna over the BRZ any day
I'd even take this over the BRZ
lmao
No GT-86 for me
Aren't they like the same thing...
FR-S and BRZ were co developed
Scion got bought out by Toyota
Yeah Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT-86 are the exact same car save for some trim pieces
yea
but they all use the lame Subaru NA boxer 4
Tho Toyota buying Scion was when all their cars got like a makeover
I have no idea why they don't put a Turbo I4 in there
yea
I don't think throwing the 3.5 V6 in there is too much to ask?
ig it would bring the prices up tho
tbh I'd take a V6 Camry over those
and if the Widebody kits were legit
there was these renders
but in Canada sports cars are only good for 1/4 of the year
What does a spaghetti header do for sound
Probably not nearly as much as a muffler / resonator does
I don't need a muffler or a resonator or cats
mmmm, you'd be surprised. Headers do a lot for sound
You need them regardless of what the law says
yea, replace the cat with a resonator
It doesn't require anything for law
you don't want to deafen yourself and everyone else in a 2 mile radius
Maybe I do want that hahaha
remind me to never visit
It's probably got an exhaust leak
oem exhausts rust like mad
it's a true dual exhaust system
When I'm going to make a new exhaust, I'll put an H pipe
if my 25 year old Toyota has an exhaust rusted to the point where its leaking bad, an old ass truck more than likely has a hole somewhere in the exhaust
it's from Oregon tho
Exhausts don't care. They will rust
i guess
OEM exhausts are usually made of bare unpainted steel
Yep
That's why I'm making a stainless steel exhaust for the truck
and also for my own car
I mean
my daily
daily is the blue one
I have a question
So I drive a petrol/LPG engined car
It is healthier that I change gears like at 4.5k rpm than something like 3 5k rpm?
mine rusted right where its welded to the back box and just popped clean off essentially giving me a straight pipe
Look in your owners manual to see what the recommended shift points are. You can also google search. I don't believe there's many LPG car owners here, and it can vary from make to make and engine to engine
but generally in petrol cars?
i just shift pretty much as early as is convenient
bruh imagine vibing with a 2009 Audi A4 2.0 TDI which only freaking puts up 143HP
I normally shift at the recommended shift points from the owners manual
You tend to get the best fuel economy that way
you get fuel for pennies lol
I'll rev it higher every now and then, when I want to have a little fun
Audi succ
if im going for a gap ill take 1st to nearly 30mph
mans got a rotary and is concerned about fuel economy
"vosprung durch technik"
Hey, it's not my only car
I'm asking because some people told me to not listen to the driving instructor or the on board computer
because it forces me to change gears in a way it's hurting the engine
What?
in a car as underpowered as mine thatd be brutal
All depends on the engine
My Corolla makes leak torque at 2800 rpm. Actually makes a great shift point
3500rpm for me i think
Oof
car
but IDK how it's with the LPG sequential injection
max HP at 6000 for me
but at least I dont have the stupid LPG instalation when I go above 6000 rpm it cuts the fuel off and switches to petrol
and I have to turn off and on the car
Lmao
Again, I'd look at the owners manual for the shift points. It should tell you where you should shift for the best economy
Might also tell you max speed per gear
mine is a book of lies
Lmao
if you follow it youd take bloody 30 seconds to get to 70
fro m experience I can go
50 kmh on 1st
100 kmh on 2nd
160 kmh on 3rd
I get relatively good fuel economy in the RX-7 by following the shift points
my friend in his 1.25 fiesta goes from like 5th to 3rd to pass on the motorway
I mean, I tend to follow them as much as I can. But I will rev out higher if needed
it is comedically sounding
On ramps? You mean fun ramps?
I go to 2nd
mine has a leak so the sound it makes is hilarious for how little acceleration im getting
Baby 4c
The Prius has "two ranges"
Electric engine brake and electric + gas engine brake
This has a transfer case
So ya
4x4 fun
As much as the explorer is called a Karen car
They can be cool for off road
Hmmm
They are about as capable as a 4runner/American land cruiser
Which see more off-road? Jeeps or Explorers?
Jeeps have a shorter wheel base
It's rare I see Jeeps with even a hint of dirt on them
Jeeps are hilariously well maintained around here. You see a 3 year old jeep and it looks brand new
No one takes them off roading. It's depressing
i really want to tear apart my steering wheel and removing the mechanism that turns off the indicator
Why buy an offroading vehicle if you don't even know what dirt js
Im the help i got stuck pls pull me out person
Lol
Impressive
And i had to pull him out
I never see that gen anymore
I think one of my friends used to have a king ranch or something version
Not this
That was a expedition
Explorer is a ranger
Expedition is a f150
Excursion is a f250
They have solid axels
And diesels
pickup trucks are a pita here
classed a commercial vehicle so a bunch of insurance companies wont even consider it
lol no
He definitely used to have an explorer. It definitely had ranch somewhere in the name
even a Mitsubishi L200 falls under commercial
Same gen as yours
i was going to buy one of these but the insurance would cost me Β£6000/y
old school one
i love old peugoet 305's
They are basically dead as suvs took over
Idk maybe it was an expedituon. It looked very similar to the explorer
i still prefer an estate, keep low to the ground and the narrow width.
Expeditions have the same body style
imagine having multilink suspension, cringe.
the other fancy thing is automatic climate controls
chad beam
Most econoboxes have trailing arms or torsion beams
that's Twist-beam rear suspension?
torsion beam :?
wikipedia said that
Torsion beam is basically solid axle, but the wheels aren't driven
My old explorer had independent torque bar
