@stoic ledge 70mai Smart Dash Cam Pro 2.7K/140/WiFi
I need to wire it up to a power line that turns on with ignition

I should get to doing that.
I've had a gopro that I could do that with, but I'm just too lazy to wire it.
Depends on how you do it, did both cars here in <30 minutes
They way it starts recording and stops recording with motion is kind of unreliable
Yes that sucks
When I have mine up, I got it set to delete the footage 30 minutes ago. So it only has 30 minutes of saved footage at all times.
I'm gonna to run a new 12v socket from my car radio
Since radio only works with ignition on
OOF
Just pop it in the cigarette lighter
2012
Corsa
Basically the same, Opel's are sold as Vauxhall's in the UK
But mine has the steeringwheel on the correct side of the car
Back passenger seat, right?
Yes

I have 2004 focus
and also the socket is in a bit difficult spot to wire it up under dash
wait
wth
Most of my wires are under the steering wheel and on the right side of the pedals.
keep that corsa clean
I'm assuming all of these cars are standards?
most of mine are under center of the dash and on the left side of steering wheel
my one has some electrical modifications
like aftermarket automatic lights
I've been wanting to do something crazy with my appearance.
keep that corsa clean
@warm sparrow I try to, but white is hard to keep clean
Well that picture was taken in July
Idk what to really do first though.
oh yes
What does she need?
Vtec DOHC
Cleaned it ofcourse since then
Idk what to really do first though.
LS swap it, always the answer
Nah, LS masterrace
LS swap it, always the answer
@stoic ledge NO
stop

Looks like a stock supra graph
Then I like you

1000whp and 4200torque
Damn, I regret selling my red EG hatch so much.
Real question though
My beast maxes out at 83hp, try to beat than 😎
how much torque?
How would a spoiler, colored headlights, and a big scoop hood look on the car?
@stoic ledge damn we got a badass over here
I would do performance mods before that
how mluch torque?
Depending on the fuel 110-115Nm
coils, strut bars etc
I've done some performance already.
@stoic ledge damn we got a badass over here
@karmic verge ikr thank you thank you
Then I would do wheels and tires
Cold air intake, new rear gears, and some wider tires.
Dropped those 3.45s for some 4.11s bb
so i can beat you with my car MK è.é
Dis bitch spinn
What kinda rims are pretty though.
my old hatch
I wanna keep the silver color, but idk what kinda design would look nice.
113-114 / 82hp, 1t
@warm sparrow so 1hp less and 3-4Nm more or 1-2Nm less than mine
I know nothing about wheels for american cars but i like kind of a drag look
Petrol: 86hp/115Nm
LPG: 83hp/110Nm

but probably lighter
Yours is lighter yes
and I never tried with better gas but i will next time
I always use RON98
Yessir
I have pirellis on it rn.
Only the best for zhe Corsa
Gonna replace the tires next year cuz burnouts o plenty.
I have... 195 width Hankook's
I use 95 but i'll try 98 since it's more efficient and even if it's more expensive it burns less so..
True
I use 98 because due to the LPG system, it barely uses any gas so high amounts of ethanol is bad
and other weird things like for your car MK
BornkleChorf is talking about MON probably, not RON?
Yo mk, tesla swap dat bih

I won't be associated with such inferior cars
Bruh tesla swapping meme tho.
I'd rather LS swap it
Or get an LS7

13b swap the corsa
And fit that motor... on the roof?
my one should have 115 hp petrol and 113hp LPGT+
Enough space

LPGT+ what's that it looks like LGBT+
Yeah just remove all those pesky electronics.
BLT sandwich?
Who needs ABS, TC, Power steering, AC, etc.?
Me
someole who has a phobia of LPG instaztations made stickers for cars LPGT+ free
Just don't remove the blinker fluid.
basically a porady about a controversial move that some publisher made here in poland

You a fellow polak?!
Mines Bi-Fuel
yes
wtf you talking about
Ayyyyyy

Aight, real talk tho.
If you wanna engine swap, get an L83
Crate engine costs like $2k
And it puts out 350 torque and about the same HP
350 torque
Nice
Truck engine, but it is a nice price.
Not even a unit
Ft/lbs
Just pure torque
U asked :(
Because torque isn't a unit 😛
Can't really find E85 anywhere here :(
Damn
My mans talking in ft/tons
Hehehe tire go brr
Also, why does horsepower not get determined by actual horse power.
I was told 450 horsepower but it doesn't pull as much power as 450 horses!
Scammd
omg this is so bad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoBg9vmKbz0

Then 136hp = 100.000W
what was this, bad drivers meeting?
I watch these at work.

On phone, too hard.
Lol just hold message -> edit
@warm sparrow That stretch is known as a good driver's road.
But it has become an attraction. So it gathers all the stupid people.
And "Look at me, MA!"-people.
tbf the donkervoorts werent really cutting that bad
they all do the same error like this is the first time they drive their cars
- if they know how this road is they should be careful
nice
High school friend wants to get a 50$ “tuning chip” for his Jetta 😩
At least I got my dash cam wired in
i've been thinking about getting a dashcam @fathom socket what model do you have?
even the dashboard alone looks like a big mess
ford interior design was soooo bad until like 10 years ago
Ford interior was good until like 20 years ago
got even worse like 7 or 8 years ago
@flint sable Pretty much any turbo car can see some decent gains from a simple tune.
It’s the V6
Oh. Then I guess those are NA
Yeah
Then yeah. Little to no point.
I warned him that It probably wont do anything but
Whatever
Would rather have him get a 50$ for slight gains than 250$ for slight gains
I can get a €250 tune for my car that literally does nothing for HP.
i've been thinking about getting a dashcam @fathom socket what model do you have?
@exotic monolith
@stoic ledge 70mai Smart Dash Cam Pro 2.7K/140/WiFi
@fathom socket
Although I'd recommend a dashcam without a battery like the 70mai, and get a dashcam with a capacitor
Optimized to... The same.
much optimise very power much wow
Although I'd recommend a dashcam without a battery like the 70mai, and get a dashcam with a capacitor
it's not a big deal for me
at owrst I can change the battery my self
100 grand under sticker
@warm sparrow those people dont deserve real wheel drive heh
@civic spoke those tunes can give better throttle response, i know it does wonders for the mazda 2.
those people don't deserver driver's licenses
if they're gonna drive like that on the street, they shouldn't drive at all
I wonder what, if any difference it would make for me.
I'd almost want a lighter flywheel.
if changed the intake and exhaust, getting a tune can optimize for the changes
so a header could claim like 15hp gain, but that's with a tune. The header alone on stock tune could maybe yield 5hp instead
My car is already very optimized power-wise.
my friend has a e36 318i with a 2.8 swapped into it not declared smh
Nice four banger.
I imagine a tune could help me
But premium is pricey
ditch finders on the rear
I always run premium
don't tune for premium gas then?
No reason to get a tune then.
lol
Toyota's new engines are super high compression
Get the euro tune. More power, more fuel economy, but premium gas
wonder whats gonna happen with engine r & d considering the UK plans to ban sale of new diesel / petrol cars by 2030
other places doing the same
that's either not gonna happen, or become a shitshow
will be interesting to see
everyone here is really into manuals even those who dont care about cars.
heh not here
Due to tax on emissions here, many people go EV, PHEV or Hybrid so the amount of "automatic" cars is quite high here the last couple of years
It's getting harder even in Europe to find enthusiast cars with a manual.
Yeah
Because automatics are faster
But not more engaging
but you can bang your gears in manual
exactly
the only sports car i would want with automatic are supercars and ++
no
there are a lot of manual here because we don't have very mutch money lol
become redneck and make it a manual
what is a ++
tbh if im getting a supercar i'd get the manual
whole point of it is the driving
lol i didn't know how to say that i mean supercars and other more harcore cars
yes but it's not with a manual supercar that you will break records
and?
If im buying a supercar its not so i can simply go fast
if i wanted to go fast i'd get a Porsche taycan or something
depends on what you want to do
anyway if you can afford one supercar you can probably afford 2
or more
i think the only auto supercar i'd consider is an lc500
and that's more just a luxury coupe than supercar
I like the LC but that's definitely not a supercar
how much does it cost again?
i thought like 150k or somthin
ah ok from 80 so luxury sports coupe type deal
i thought like 150k or somthin
It is here
€159k

But that's not what I'd consider supercar tbh
The LFA, that's a supercar
yeah true
but the lc500 is kinda the most supercar car that lexus has which is why i thought it might be
lotus esprit WC special edition had a signed plaque
quite pog

https://www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/who-makes-the-most-reliable-cars/
mazda is the highest
lincion is the lowest
tesla 2nd to last
beats vw if you exclude the model y
also mini has more than 2 models smh

quite a bad study tbh if you include so few models
unless those were the only models with enough samples somehow
they do surveys on many random people
maybe not enough people anwsered a certain mini
benz only gets like 40 but the gle really pulls it down
its a bad sampling method really
Lol that's nearly always the case with such researches
We did such test nation wide once... By checking the MOT failure points
Because worn windscreen wipers and low profile tires are a good indication for reliability
People say manuals are "hardcore"
Reality is they're just cheap.
If you want to go fast, you get an automatic these days. If you want better fuel economy... automatic.
per Car and Driver: "But buying a manual transmission isn't about the numbers—even Mazda admits that it's "a way of life for purists." The three-pedal 3 is undoubtedly a more involving car to drive than the automatic, even if it's not necessarily better, given how satisfying the six-speed auto is in other models we've sampled."
Each time a manual is offered in the US. It's largely ignored apart from a few exceptions.
Also any automaker that offers a "limited" trim must offer a number plate to show it is actually limited.
i think for a daily runabout i might consider an auto if it was actually a nice one
probably nicer for cruising about
America is the land of eating in your car, long road trips, and crushing traffic.
wtf
Mazda overtook Toyota on reliability???
That's unfortunate, I wonder where Toyota tripped up
You're not wrong I-94 in Chicago can take literal hours to get through...
You know its bad when the public transportation (trains) go faster than the highway.
hmm for a roadtrip I'd prefer Norway, its just prettier
itll be a bit before i consider a automatic, might look for a automatic E39 once im a bit older.
theres actually quite a substantial dislike towards automatics ingrained into our society here heh.
changing alot now but still applies
Manuals wayy more popular in the UK
I think I'm gonna switch away from it though
I'm hoping my next car will be an automatic
smh
I'm a below average driver
My gear changes are not always the smoothest, better to let the car handle it
Easier to drink cans of coke while driving 😂
its really annoying seeing a used car you might like but the only ones for sale are auto's making them basically worthless
hmmm mazda is kinda suprising. but yet isn't, i know they've been working with toyota recently.
and what is a gm product doing so high up
higher then honda
hmmmm
seems kinda fishy
Honda has issues these days
our old hondas a tank where rust resistance is concerned and engine reliability
not to bash on mazda but i see old NB's and 10 year old mazda 3's with terrible rust
Early 2000s Mazdas rust pathetically easy
They are reliable mechanically, despite using Ford shit, but they rust to pieces without meticulous care
Honda has gotten worse overall I think. They're still good, but I wouldn't rate them as high anymore
Imo Toyota and Mazda are the king's of reliability these days. Toyota is unsurprising ofc, but Mazda has come a long way from using Duratec garbage
i might put rust converter on it atleast but it is at the end of the day a disposable car
ignore the temporary anti rattle tape
its not in a important place so not to bad, main concern is the front subframe might get some rust converter for that atleast
imagine getting something kinda decent out of a superwheelspin
That has been posted here so many times
Mazda's stuff hasn't changed dramatically in the last decade
They've had time to refine a lot of stuff.
Honda has had issues with engines and last gen nav units hit them hard
just got the title and keys for the 1997 audi a4
I'm just surprised to see Toyota getting their ass beat in reliability from mazda of all brands
hi
Mazda is partially Japanese built and American built, so it isn't surprising
pretty distant #2
Define distant
And this is what... Consumer reports?
CR tends to be a decent benchmarks
Ah, the similar "institution" here is full of BS
Their car reliability is based on MOT failure points
Because worn tires and windscreen wipers are a great indicatiom for reliability
In the US it's based on customer surveys
Ah ok
Still not a great indicator
It's called "consumer union" here but its basically for consumers, not by consumers
Atleast a bit more accurate
Yes
There's also another "research" based on the average mileage when a car gets scrapped
I mean, how's that representative
Ferrari must suffer under those metrics
Ferrari wasn't in there
Everything <300k km didn't even make the list
According to that list, the most reliable cars are:
- Volvo
- Saab
- Mercedes
- Chevrolet
- Chrysler
- Mitsubishi
- Audi
- BMW
- Jaguar
- Citroen
- Alfa Romeo
- Renault
- Subaru
- Hyundai
- Volkswagen
- Peugeot
- Seat
- Ford
- Mazda
- Honda
- Nissan
- Opel
And the list stops there, so Kia, Toyota etc scored lower
Also: #12-#22 differ less than 5k km according to them, so basically no difference there
That's why I said, it doesn't makes sense
funny that citroen is way before peugeot considering it's pretty much the same cars xD
wtf honda after all that?
who tf did this list
and for what years is this
one thing i've learned is to disregard these reliability things entirely
Makes sense
The rich can afford to keep their cars going
Aygos and Fits go to kids and tend to be treated poorly
Remaining Saab owners are probably super dedicated
That list is so unreliable; I would go with the Consumer Reports list
The Consumer Reports list is probably the closest you can get
Hey what car do you think i should get when i get my drivers license?
Yeah I know doesn't make any sense
Mazda 3
Basically: city run abouts get less miles than highway cruisers
Honda needs some time to return back to the table

Honda is improving right now from where they were about a year or 2
Get a Dacia Sandero
- Dom gets dodge charger *
lol
FCA does not exist anymore; It is S T E L L A N T I S
And the Challenger/Charger lives on
What's worse than a Nissan CVT?

This is the official launch video played for the global reveal of the all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ. See the story behind the creation of the hottest rear-wheel-drive Subaru production vehicle to ever thread a hairpin turn. The racing bloodlines. The engineering heritage. The new power. The added torque. The even lower center of gravity. The stiffer b...
oh sweet.
So apparently same platform.
But heavily refreshed.
and yes. The vents are functional.
i ride her everyday
Teslaporshefordjag
Yep
imo it doesn't look very good
Hm I think they played GTA V
rear view at 5:09
I knew the rear really made me think about some car
I think it was this one
That's an Eclipse.
Rear end is pure Subaru. Next gen WRX has been teased with a similar rear end.
https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/images/subaru-wrx-spied-3-copy-1600875955.jpg?crop=1xw:0.9997848768419921xh;center,top&resize=768:* would be funny if the taillights were the same part number.
yes that's based on the eclipse but the rear is still resembling imo
it also look like a little supra viewed from certain angles
particularly the rear fenders (but it's almost the same as the previous gen so..)
very toyota-y
Subaru engineering, Toyota styling.
I personally find it to be much nicer compared to last gen.
yes of course
I want to see the toyota version I hope they made a different design
well as much as possible
220 horsepower in a car that weighs under 3000 pounds.
That's more than enough.
Power for the BRZ comes from a 2.4-liter flat-four that's related to the engine found in the Ascent, but the turbo didn't make the leap from the crossover to the coupe due to weight, packaging, and cost restrictions. Dominick Infante, the head of Subaru's public relations team, told Road & Track that turbocharging the BRZ would have required mounting the engine higher, which would have compromised handling by raising the center of gravity.
Remember. It's a budget sports car. In this case a turbo was not feasible under any context.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTJKhMWRQTE the more I look, the more I want.
Enjoy a pulse-quickening introduction to the latest Subaru BRZ. The first generation of this traditional rear-wheel-drive sports car came straight out of the bloodlines of Subaru Motorsports. The BRZ is all-new for 2022, with a driving enthusiast’s dream list of upgrades. More power. More torque. Stiffer body. An even lower center of gravity. Ag...
Looks amazing, sounds great... and honestly....
man
Corolla is perfect, but this looks excellent.
everyone who drove it said it was slow at 205hp or whatever it was
less than 10% faster isn't going to change that I don't think
(also its like 35k, its not really that budget)
I just found out Tesla Model 3 would cost $100,000 in my country 😞
was hoping for $50k or less
I think it's cool that a car like this exist with no turbo, it's rare now
anyway it won't make it to europe so...
and the fact that it's naturaly aspired is why
guess its the old subaroo for us
Yeah, Subaru sales in Europe are also low AF... and adding a car like that, they definitely won't make it to the 90gr/km average CO2 emissions which the EU wants
And it's not like they can compensate the big fines with big sales
I think the BRZ looks good and could be great, but it's just way to underpowered.
i couldnt imagine a current brz with alot more power than its got rn
it'd end up really oversteery
The new BRZ is going to have 220 hp iirc
When was a high power RWD car ever a bad time though?
the frot bumper looks like a porche boxster
Yeah so it's still gonna be slow as fuck
"speed" is all relative to the car youre driving
if speed mattered, no one would buy a miata
or a honda grom
The BRZ is not very fun to drive, I'd much rather have a nb Miata
also the entire car between the wheels is a Porsche boxster
it made jeremy clarkson laugh its gotta be pretty fun
well yeah id want a miata over a torque-dip- 4 cylinder that 3 companies have (had, rip scion)
where's the mazda rotary to complete the trifecta
Yeah, they should just use the same engine as in the STI in the BRZ lol
i think thats what they are doing
let me find the article my buddy linked me
the ass-end looks like a new supra, while the front looks like a porche
strange
chevy tacos are fun
Not a big fan of camber
No one drove it Falcon.
The media so far has only had a passenger seat experience.
And they've all lost their marbles calling 0-60 in over 5 seconds "slow."
Vast majority of Americans don't buy fast cars. Nissan Rogue, Toyota Corolla, RAV4, Camry, Accord, and whatever other crossovers are all collectively average.
Under 200 horsepower is normal.
230 out of a 4 cylinder is impressive all things considered. And I imagine the car will be much much better to drive considering they more than likely got rid of that torque valley.
Also rumors are pointing to the car once again starting under 30k.
To date, one of our most highly-regarded films has been “The Ferrari 250 GTO Speaks for Itself”, focused around Derek Hill and—without a doubt—a V12-powered legend. It wasn’t the whole story, however.
See, we capture a lot of footage, and there’s been a clip we’ve wanted to air separately since the moment it was committed to memory: an in-car v...
220hp from a 2.4 is not very impressive.
@dense shard The B16B from 1997 has 182hp from a 1.6 NA
Yes, and the Honda performance engines tended to be fairly exotic.
"1999 Civic Si trim package featured a 1.6-litre B16A2 engine that made 160 hp"
According to wikipedia.
Remember. The BRZ engine is basically a de-turbo'd Ascent. No fancy double lobe cams, no sodium filled valves.
It's down a few horsepower on the S2K, but is vastly more usable.
didnt know a gto had a dog leg transmission
The S2K has 240hp from a 2.0!! Subaru needs to put a snail on the thing
Which would raise the weight, cost, and center of gravity.
The last three things subaru wants and needs.
The BRZ is down 10 horsepower on the S2K, but is vastly more usable in all RPMs.
Then the BRZ is going to remain a underperforming look alike sportscar
How is it underperforming?
Looks fast but it's slow as shit
because it has a boxer without a turbo lol
so?
its boring
wdym lol?
Both of my civics smokes a brz
Not in the turns I imagine.
LOL
MuH pOwEr
A car that starts 10k more than a BRZ?
I have a EG hatch and a EP3 Type R which i payed 5k for.
only 197 hp?
stock, yes.
It has around 230.
200 in a car that weighs less than 3000 pounds is good.
It has a rrc intake and some other stuff.
So it is modified.
I beat him in my red hatch too
isnt a civic fwd doe
Perhaps he's just bad at driving.
basically a golf
A Civic is FWD, yes.
which has exactly 133hp at the wheels
A BRZ is plenty if you value handling.
civic isnt FR therefore basically worthless
At this point I value my 'rolla hatch.
Yes dont get me wrong i like the BRZ
It's just dissapointing imo
does exactly what it says on the tin and does it well
Would you pay 35k for a BRZ that weighs more and handles worse?
no
...
would I pay 35k for a 200hp non turbo subaru? No
Not in Sweden
Come to the US.
da real best car doe
The only thing straight there is the driver.
and they've chosen the worst colour imaginable
BMW's entire response is just bad.
"oh well, maybe you're all just dumb and close minded"
Heres my red lil hatch
Not heavily
tires, wheels, and suspension.
The second you touch the suspension, mods become heavy.
Coils, strut braces, some engine stuff and wheels and tires
yeah, that's heavily modified.
That's not exactly brakepads and new tires.
the type r
60 horsepower, 3 cylinders, and automatic.

I hit 100 km/h maybe twice.
LOL
Because kei cars at over 80 get a bit scary.
worth pointing out that this car beat the other 3
who needs fast when you can have fun doe
It was a very fun car.
i put handling way above power
Tho AC in the summer killed whatever power there was.
our roads actually have bends mlol
chad bends > virgin straight roads
our roads could of been straight in most of the places but some horse in the past went nah mate
Yeah Hondas are slow as fuck in a straight line
slow as fuck relative to a Bugatti or a tesla
I wouldn't call sub 9 second 0-60s as slow.
LOL Teslas are only fast 0-60
60hp up do be like that tho
I would say above 8 seconds is slow
I'd say above 10 is slow.
yeah above 10 slow to me i'd guess
most of the cars on the road here take atleast 12.5 seconds 0-60
sub 10 is all you really need
I've found that issues aren't with acceleration, but rather traffic letting you join.
People need to chill the fuck out, and learn to share the road.
our sliproads are long enough for my shitbox to get up to 75mph
i wonder what the lowest power to weight ratio car for sale in the uk is rn
the 1.0 litre corsa isnt sold anymore i dont think
so I will stand by this.
stopped in 2014
The BRZ is plenty fast for what it was designed to be.
And 95% of the customers who buy it will never hit the car's limit.
They'll bitch at it being too slow, then curb it going 25mph.
but the real question is, supra or a110
A110 being?
alpine a110
Supra.
reasonings?
Probably true. I still think its dissapointing, looks fast and cool and everything but really isnt
Besides being bigger, more refined, more comfortable?
I trust the Japanese over the French for QC and durability.
It is cool. And it's plenty fast.
Once again. People will likely never explore the car's limits, and wouldn't be affected by the car having 150 or 200 horsepower.
I'd rather get a Clio RS Trophy than a Supra
Same ethos as the Miata.
according to whatcar the alpine has better ride quality than the subra
Handling over speed.
@dense shard Dont forget the Supra is basically BMW
I'm aware. I'm also aware it still went through Toyota QC and is built by Magna Steyr.
they're practically identical in speed so its handling or raw poower
i think if i had them in front of me i might be tempted to get the a110 personally
I'd just get a FK8 CTR lol
Not a fan of it.
what if i dont want a yob-mobile
A yob mobile.. damn
Bet you the alpine gets a lot more looks than a FK8
- the FK8 is faster, much faster.
haha alpine does more mpg with less emissions than my mini
I'd take the Civic over the Alpine.
and the supra has nearly identical co2
ah, you're talking bout the 4 cylinder Supra.
The six has 350+ horsepower.
A good deal more than the Alpine.
It's 385 now.
Alpine isn't really sold in the US, so no brainer.
i've seen both and liked the alpine a bit more i think
its too much its got like what 5 spoilers?
Especially since the early CTRs had heat issues.
The car was writing checks it refused to cash.
What I don't like is the fact its basically the size of an accord now
It be like that.
2021 has a new grill.
That's partially why I went with a Corolla.
or 2020?
Si was nice, but oversized and I didn't trust the engine.
The 1.5T global engine.
The one recalled in China for oil dilution.
The same one that has the very same issue around the world.
But hasn't been recalled.
I'm happy with my M20A.
D16 :^ |
She has the power, style, and comfort.
And is still a compact car. Unlike the Sentra and Civic.
Yeah it's nice
Also manual, 2.0L, and white interior.
NO
Rare combo last I checked.
thats not a compact, this is a compact :^)
I'm going by US sizes.
^^ Too many doors
The Corolla is a compact.
One thing I appreciate is the Corolla HB hasn't been built for the US market.
Also need to get a roof rack soon.

5 doors easier for deliveries :^)
i have the back seats removed from mine, mazdavan
I still love that the 2.0 in the Corolla is basically exclusive to the US.
The rest of the world gets the 2.0 as a hybrid or a 1.2T.
EU = 1.2T, 1.8 Hybrid or 2.0 Hybrid
our insurance companies are meanies
They're mean everywhere.
need a slow as shit model for those under 21's that dont want to pay extortinate
same
mind you it is cheaper to insure a 240hp rwd S2000 than it is a Corolla
£800/y for the S2000, £1300/y black box with the civic and like £1500/y black box with an accord.
I refused to use a black box dongle.
I know I'm paying more, but I really don't need to be tracked even more.
they dont care why you slammed on the brakes just haha you brake fast u bad
Because outside of a few exceptions, yes.
People who accelerate or brake aggressively tend to be in more accidents.
yeah but it can be anything from a kid running out
Same goes for people who drive between 0:00 and 6:00.
Kids don't run out on a regular basis.
to going around literally any bend on a single track road
Stop signs are a regular occurance.
even so some of them are anal
My insurance is ridiculously expensive
Despite having a cheap slow car
yeah the obd2 dongles should be illegal
no literally there is like 1 stop sign in my town
for now
in the middle of nowhere
I know my car has a built in black box. So if the insurance ever wants it after a crash, they can ask for it.
atleast a couple of years ago when someone i knew had one they would fine for anything
i have a dashcam
Still shopping for a dash cam.
Think I'll just stop by the dealership so they can pull my A-pillar trim off.
they are probably less dickheads now but used to be a complete scam
yeah and alot of them are relaly stupidly made
like lets say it fines you for going beyond 10% throttle
10% is VERY different in a prius vs a hellcat
but its considered the same by the little dongle
The dongles don't measure throttle input.
some do
they can
friend of mine had one in her kia
They measure acceleration. There's usually a little g force meter inside.
every time she got on the gas it would beep at her
they can do many things Monte is not a single dongle fits all companies
which means it just reported to the insurance company
Perhaps she's tripping the g-meter.
You can trip meters in any car.
I refuse to get one of the dongle things
I don't need them creeping over my shoulder every time I got 1mph over thej speed limit or have to punch it onto the highway
which still is really fucking stupid
Most people drive the speed limit.
i can promise you they measure speed
Oh, you have to stop for a child in the road? Higher rates. You need to punch it to merge on the highway? Higher rates.
That shouldn't be legal.
literally every one in the UK i can 100% say will measure speed
I can't speak for the UK.
US companies rarely ever measure speed.
Just times, and accelerations.
I refuse to get a spy-box
ours know your location
You already have a spy box in your pocket.
insurance companies don't creep on that
my insurance is already ludicrously expensive, I ain't need it to be even higher
but yeah i have no control over someone swinging around a single track road bend at 25mph
Pretty sure the insurance rates won't go up unless you're really stupid.
The dongles are there to give you a discount.
no they're not LMFAO
back in whenever they gave out fines
Otherwise people would have no incentive to use them.
They're there to give the insurance companies literally any excuse to raise your rates
Prove me wrong, Falcon.
the incentive is a initially lower rate
They tell you that your rate will go down but then they decide you don't deserve it and jack them up instead
I haven't heard that at all.
All the companies offer either a discount, or find you don't deserve one.
it's an insurance company, they literally are out to screw you over
if they can make more of you, theyre gonna
They're not charities.
They're out there to make sure you aren't about to defraud them of money.
theyre also out there to make as much as they can
500$ a month for minimal insurance on an ancient car is fucking out to lunch
but oh well, guess I'm just a bad driver
And if you're driving like an asshole, perhaps you deserve an increased rate.
Progressive warns that your rates may increase if you are a high-risk driver based on your Snapshot information, but it says only two out of ten drivers experience that.
20% of drivers are so bad they get an incrase.
If you drive sanely, chances are you are safe.
I'd get high-risk categorization in like 10 minutes considering those are made for modern cars
well i can say where i live it wouldnt be entirely possible
Sorry if I offended anyone, but after living with my car's safety tech for the last year and a half.
I've found that it takes some obviously sketchy shit to make the system beep at me.
At this point I'm fully inclined to believe that people who complain about these systems shouldn't be driving.
Maybe the ones in your corolla, but those insurance dongles are ridiculously sensitive
even the smallest braking force will make it report home
and then your rates skyrocket
I'm questioning that.
they're not fair, they're not even close to reality
Because people have the same exact complaint about the safety tech.
they're just an excuse to pull more money out of consumers
"Oh I drive normally and it beeps at me, it's sooooooo sensitive"
Then I end up driving with these people, and I nearly shit myself.
Like... yeah no shit you got a ticket. I'm tempted to walk back.
well maybe I'm just a bad driver then
¯_(ツ)_/¯
but unfortunately for you driving is essential here, so I'm not just gonna throw in the towel and quit
id have no issue with them putting a camera in my car
The discounts are retroactive not proactive.
That's why I haven't signed up. They're harvesting data at no cost. If they want my habits, they gotta pay me up front. :3c
That's why my FB account is totally empty.
You gotta pay to unlock my life DLC.
oh here is just cheaper initially and can be given fines during it and then the data is used to determine your renewal price
Once again. Cash up front. Otherwise keep guessing.
but 99% of the time they increase your renewal price anyway
My costs tend to go down.
all you have to do though is call them and say x company offered me y
and they will beat that
still happens to my sister who doesent have a black box anymore
And that. I do plan on shopping around next renew.
Insurance companies tend to be fairly aggressive on fucking you cause they know you won't move 90% of the time... which is a remarkably toxic relationship now that I've thought about it.
@ everyone. Shop for insurance! Tell your current plan to take a hike!
unfortunetely my friend that got rear ended and side swiped has to pay more
even though his company had to pay out £0
He should probably take the company to court.
no its every company
Not in the US.
for the next 3-5 years he will have to pay more
thats how long you have to declare fault and non fault accidents for
I should probably raise my deductible next year.
my first year was £1000 deductable and £1000/y for the policy
wait... I think I have a lowering deductible.
if my parents crashed my car their deductable is £250
having my parents on my policy even though they dont drive it lowers the cost significantly
yeeeep
he only has to pay like £150 more per year but still
thats ontop of the £700/y he has to pay
900-1300$ a MONTH with liberty mutual
but yeah non fault crashes are brutal if you own multiple cars
I have problems with grit and little rocks getting stuck in my tyre cut outs heh
not sure if its a issue or not but they are certainly chilling in there
Wait that happened to you?
nah a friend
if it was me and i saw that coming id of yeeted my car into the kerb mlol
hes got pretty low profile tyres and power coated alloys though so
whereas my alloys cost like £80 and are spray painted
I probably would've braked lol, you saw him coming
Ah well, ez to judge from behind the screen
yeah you see him dive for the kerb i think then go nah
damaged both doors the mirror and quaterpanel i think
OOF rip
Well if he hit the curb, missed the Volvo, Volvo drove off, there wouldn't have been an accident be he would have massive chassis damage
its still leaving the scene if you cause something
True
That's why we have dashcams
Because others can't drive but they'll try to blame it on you
Yeah did see that one
Hope they caught the Ka
Bastard
Just saw someone do one of those

“My best friends rich check” things on tiktok flexing their dads BASE 3 series
yikes

i dont get why people dont just follow the lines its literally painted, im not the best at navigating but i just call it the scenic route theres roundabouts everywhere to do a u turn at.
Same with people reversing/braking/... For exits on the highway
