got vids? things sweet!
hows ur mt82 holding up
112k miles on all stock components she’s doing good
Valence electron?
noh, valence panel
New shoes
Me this year, longest jump yet, 60 ft
Throw a lightbar on that bad boy and let it take you places for the next 30+ years of your life. Toyotas never die hahaha
Interesting choice of vehicle for such a thing
It's actually an amazing platform for 2WD rally in the US. Could never run it in Europe but thankfully our rules allow such builds
What size engine does it have?
fucking rad bro

🥶
I was thinking of almost making the Marty McFly one
and thats my first car accident of the year already, someone drove in the back of my car because they didnt keep distance with snow and it was a icy road.... but my tow hook saved it his bumper was f'ed mine was fine
Gotta make sure to properly tighten the oil filter
you did put some loctite on it and didnt put oil on the O ring?
cant have it ratle loose
i lubed up the O ring with some RTV
I need to weld some tow hooks onto my 305 for track days and I dont really trust the structure of the vehicle, fully expecting my boot floor to get yanked out
going to try and reinforce it as much as possible
ofcourse hopefully they will never actually have to be used
thanks i hate this
did you make sure to use red loctite on the threads?
yeah and i used PR1776-M fuel tank sealant on the O-ring for lubrication
good good wouldn’t want it to come off going down the road
If they're driving in the dark while it's snowing on an empty road, yeah probably
seatbelt has left the chat
Same display, different styling
Damn you mileage is 80121km , so close to the magic number
damnn i missed it 💔
i was trying to hit 50k miles on NYE but it didn’t work out
update: i was so close
also my phone be tweaking and i can’t edit the video to make it shorter
i’ve had this car for probably 5 months and put 27k miles on it in 2025, and I estimate i drove somewhere north of 65k miles last year on all my cars combined
i plan on driving the absolute wheels off this regal though as long as nobody else plows into me
I missed it by 30 miles :(
nooooo 😭😭😭
I also missed that one in my car
Light bar when snowing will blind you
Lemme rephrase, on a snow covered road
what motor do you have in yours? i’m nowhere close to your avg fuel consimption 😬
1.4 Turbo
But the average consumption it reads is inaccurate, usually if I do the maths at the fuel station it's +10/15%
But that's a picture from some summer time, many highway driving (which is 100km/h-62mph in NL, hence the CC at 110km/h/68mph)
Since I've owned the car I've averaged 1:16.9 / 5.9L/100km / 39.7 MPG US / 47.7 MPG UK
Around the same for the 1.0tsi in my golf
hell yeah
right now with my winter tires and doing 80-90mph on the highway to work i’m averaging 23.7 mpg 🫠 but with my reg tires and the same speeds i get like 29ish
Doing 80-90mph mine would also consume quite a lot more
Doing 80 I get like 7L/100km (= 33 MPG US), maybe slightly better 6.7L/100km = 35 MPG US
But with only 110km/h highway driving 5.5L/100km = 43 MPG US isn't uncommon
my first bike at 16 with my dad's next to it
ik its not technically a car but im proud of it and wanted to share
with my Golf 1.8TSI I've seen as low as 6.8L/100km, but as high as 10+L/100km when I'm in traffic doing city driving
there are people who can't figure out that there driving with only DRL's on with no tail lights.... you really expect them to be smart enough to know this shit?
the amount of people that i flash my high beams at while they drive their “ghost” car down the highway at 4 in the morning is nuts
almost nobody ever gets the memo and turns them on they just look confused when i pass
sometimes i’ll run into the same person the next day still with no lights on like how tf do you have a license
Fun fact.
They are changing the regulations about that here in Sweden (Or EU as a whole?).
Unless it's a bright day, then rear lights are required to be on for any future vehicles.
Meaning that they will be forced to turn on even when it's cloudy.
What the switch looks like in my BMW i3S. And then I get the green light for when the lights are on.
shit a lot of people don’t even know where the switch/dial to turn their lights on manually even is anymore 😭
turn signals are supposed to be amber
huh i've seen truckers and sometimes cars on the highways here when coming up to traffic flash there hazards to warn others
here in Canada we've required front DRLs for many years, so rear DRLs makes perfect sense to me
the flashing brake lights is being tried in North America as well, but only on certain models for now
my Golf has combined brake and turn signal for the North American model, but they made the same tail light design work for the EU with proper (amber) turn signals
yeah it's pretty standard for many german cars to have the headlight switch like this.
Side note, the wiper stalk on German cars goes the opposite direction as Japanese cars, which mildly annoys me
Came to the realization that we need to mandate a light similar to the seatbelt light. If the light sensor commands headlights on but the headlights are not actually on then there should be a blinking light on the panel that says 'headlights off'. Realized this when I saw the indicator saying the headlights were on when I was driving in overcast conditions. We don't need to know they're on unless the alternator isn't charging, but we do need to know they are off when they should be on.
I actually had to instruct a lady how to turn her headlights on a couple weeks ago because she thought they were on due to the DRLs. You know - they could also just mandate DRLs must shut off if the 'auto' headlight commands on. Then people can't make the mistake.
no it doesn't need to be that complicated... just don't illuminate the gauge cluster when the DRLs are the only lights on... OR just have that as well as the tail lights always being on as well
everyone driving with just there DRLs at night think its there low beams because they're just bright enough to see while also having the gauges lit as well.
not realizing that there tail lights aren't on which is more of an issue then not having your low beams on imo
OR just get rid of DRLs entirely and just have them act as your low beams and tail lights... because that's what it would be
like i don't get why they are separated in the first place
It's not complicated as it doesn't even need to be computerized, simple relays would do the trick.
I could get behind the simply having the front ambers on rather than clear light as that would make the car visible without the possibility of being confused for headlights - but IMO brake lights are sacred and should not be illuminated in the day as running lights.
this all goes without saying... you shouldn't be driving if you don't at least understand the basics of how cars function
not brake lights but tail lights
you can tell a difference
and if you can't... then you shouldn't be driving
I don't really blame them for not realizing since there is no indicator when there is a wrong such as seatbelt. The DRLs are simply too bright and headlights are supposed to be automatic, who would think that someone else turned them off.
tail lights ARE brake lights. There is functionally little difference between tail lights in the day and brake lights but the 3rd light has failed. That is why they should not be on in the day period.
simply too bright and also the gauge cluster thing as well
no because the bulbs are dual filament... which means they get noticeably brighter when the brakes are applied
otherwise they just glow
A distinction that can be made in the dark but not in broad daylight.
idk maybe you need to get your eyes checked because its very obvious to me
even without a 3 brake light
you could also have them pulse like what the EU is requiring now
the Japanese also have fog brake lights that pulse when they come on
rear fog light makes sense. Then you don't need daytime running brake lights as the likelihood that two brake lamps have failed is so small.
like DRLs are a thing here in Canada but in the states they aren't... and yet you can still find people driving with there lights on
i still think just having a more simple are all your lights on yes no works the best
then you got fogs and high beams as extras you have to manually turn on and off
fuck it throw amber marker lights being on as well in there
they blinky then you turning if not they just look nice
turning whichever direction I'll add

DRL's are more to be seen than to give light for you
And yes they're quite bright as it's also nice to see them with low standing sun
DRL in the rear not being on is basically a "power saving" thing, back from when most rear lights were full halogen and constantly using electricity for it actually made the car consume more fuel
Iirc in Scandinavia it's a thing to have rear DRL's now tho
In my car the most off setting I can turn the lights is "Automatic", there's no actual way to turn them completely off
off has it's purposes. For example, I drop my brother in law off at the fireworks tent to browse but I just want to wait in the car, I turn the switch to the headlights off position so I'm not blinding the people in the tent.
A complicated but incredibly great option would be to have a push button like the push to start that shuts off the lights while parked but if you start moving then it turns them back on.
Hard to tell on vs off is very different than bright vs not. There is no reason for lighting in broad daylight.
Yeah but in 2001 the maximum output was reasonable, now it's way too bright.
It's really not, not even on old cars with poor lightbulbs and 6V electrics
On durring the day is going to cause preventable accidents for no benefit. People will see a car with a failed third brake light and not be able to tell if it is stopped/stopping versus just on. There is no consistent brightness for brake lights but there is one consistent - they are not generally on during the day and at night running lights are dim enough to tell the difference between them and brake lights. That distinction is not simple to make in broad daylight as the lights cannot light up their surroundings as well.
They are the same freaking light!
It was mandatory to always have lights on all the time here until the past 10-15 years something when drls became legal, lights on was not a problem, the drls with dark rears are however causing lots of problems
The only way around that is to make all taillights must be no higher than 2 foot off the ground and all brake lights must be a minimum of 6 foot. Then they are not both red lights on the rear of the car at the sides.
Do tell me. if they are not the same light then since both left ones are not in the circle and the same color - then where are they separate? At 100 feet a distinction of 6 inches is no distinction at all when when a judgement must be made in 2 seconds or less.
That's one shitty rear light design
The one circled in green can fail. That is why it should not be relied upon to convey brake vs tail in broad daylight when cars are readily visible already.
Show me one that has a clear distinction between taillight and brake light at a safe highway following distance then.
Because that is at best 1 to 2 percent of the vehicles on the road.
So what you're saying is all cars should be tractor trailers with three separate distinct housings per side all so you can have pointless taillights in broad daylight? Basically this but obviously with amber turn signals since everyone is so anti red turn signals. Personally, I like the amber most of the time but I'm not in anyway confused by red or combination turn signals.
All cars on the roads here
More or less
i wish we got cool amber turn signals here in the u.s
So the difference is instead of slightly brighter - it gets slightly larger.
It's not slightly brighter, it goes from dim to bright
Depends on the car. Some do have amber rears. My Sol does - at least with the stock tails. It's one of the reasons I like the stock so much more over the aftermarket ones that are chrome housing with amber bulb.
When you have the sun directly overhead - it's still only slightly brighter.
And most importantly relies on you seeing the transition happen.
It's significant enough to always be noticeable
But maybe you have shitty brake lights in NA, I don't know
I mean I suppose it's possible that one could consider that - but it is not because of difference in brightness. There is no viable difference in brightness that makes daylight tails safer than not. You only have 2 seconds to determine did that car in front of me hit their brakes after you glanced down at the instrument cluster, over to the mirrors, changed a station or comfort setting and off versus on is far more safe than crash oh no their third brake light had failed and I made the wrong choice.
Or maybe you played it safe and slammed on the brakes but the person behind you glanced at maps in that moment and now you're rear ended.
These are preventable accidents by not doing something that doesn't increase safety.
If a person cannot see a vehicle in broad daylight at several hundred feet, why were they even able to get a license?
Something like that exists in modern cars
I know on new Audi's you can turn them off while stationary, but when you move again it turns them back to auto
But that you can't use the "physical" light switch, you need some touch interaction thingy
You keep focusing on that when it is NOT the problem. The problem is that dim and bright is the same when the third brake light has failed.
So are a capital and lower case o. Yet you will not be able to tell me if I print out just one of them and mail it to you with no other reference. Seeing the transition or seeing the third brake light provides that reference. There is no difference at a glance between dim and bright in the bright sun that is significant enough to make it worth the added risk. Period. I'm done with the argument.
I hate turn signals that use the same bulb as the brakes.
As someone with astigmatism I cant comprehend why we allow the state of headlights on new vehicles
Now even just bodge jobs that are the problem, brand new supposedly conforming cars.
Sane headlights
Apparently they are doing some study on this in the UK but no doubt it will turn into nothing with people driving SUVs and full size vans saying they dont have any issues.
for real, if it’s dark and rainy i literally can’t see shit when i’m driving my car lmao
stuff oncoming I can forgive kind of as you know it moves on, but if I get a modern mini or similar behind me my side mirrors are going to be collapsed suns for the next 20 miles
i remember as a kid thinking LED drls were the coolest thing ever
now we do have some cars with them
Angel eyes.
F
according to Transport Canada:
off is also useful when you're working on the car and don't want to drain the battery
my car the lights stay on auto 99% of the time, except for when it's in the shop
at more extreme latitudes, the angle of the sun in the sky can be really blinding, especially when it reflects off of the snow. DRLs can be the difference between noticing an oncoming car or not
First time venturing into this channel as I had a story I thought I'd like to share.I had quite a wonderful time this morning, took our Morris minor 1000 for a drive. 10 minutes in after making a brief stop to fill her up she made a brilliant thumping sound and came to a spectacular stop as I was turning out of the petrol station. Ended up getting towed home. 10/10 would recommend. British engineering at its finest.
i mean halos and angel eyes look really cool
I wish e46 had them
i mean you can get after market ones
True, but there are a thousand things higher on the priority list

Gotta love Roti's at half off.
Dog i forgot how delicious this stuff is

😋
that exists ???
Commonplace with American cars. Since many there use the same for the turn signal and brakes.
Red turn signals is a big bruh.
fire
that's so fucking stupid
I have so many questions
what is it with you americans and idiotic design
granted im french so that's not really something i can comment on
Yea, shoot.
it’s so stupid but it’s cheap which is why automakers do it lol
i’ve nearly smoked a couple people in heavy snow when they decide they need their hazards on while driving (please never do this unless you’re stopped on the shoulder) and also hit the brakes. for some reason the hazards override brake lights and only the small third brake light lights up when they’re stopping
also new project acquired
That looks cool and possibly fun
it will be very fun once I build a motor for it
debating on a built 5.3 or built 8.1 big block
but it will be my dunes rig, once I can afford shocks for it 😂
He's psssst. Let's not encourage the Americans.

They might do some stupid shit. Like lifting it
But who else are we going to laugh at while secretly being jealous?
Who needs shocks
As long as you have springs
Fine. You can be jealous. While i point and laugh.
until I can afford some fox shocks i’ll run springs just the ride quality on the sand is so much better with shocks (you can get springs to be pretty good too though)
oh it’s already lifted slightly but it’s not about to be some mall crawler, it’s getting trailered to the dunes and mud pit only lol
i gotta find a new hardtop for it though
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJIXa2kNSjG/?igsh=MXBnYnhzZTI1M2ZlYg==
this is essentially the goal other than that’s a pickup and mine isnt, and mine probably won’t look as nice

You are an American with a truck, you will still find a way to lift it.
it already is lifted
also it’s more of an suv with a removable hardtop but ig its built like a truck
if you got 2 car keys
You can start the car & keep it running
& lock the car with the other key & enter easily at a later stage during the day

My truck is lowered
Excessive idling is rough on engines
Also great way to have your car stolen
All they have to do is get past the door
Alarm won't even go off
yeah isnt it why buying old police cars is stupid or sum
going to trash it soon lmao
226k
doesnt do a lot of km anymore
im lucky if it does 300
What was the range to start off with? Around 400 km?
EPA says 386–423 km
WLTP says 448 km.
420
never did 400 tho
It's hard to do the rated range. If you're like me, then you use cabin preconditioning a lot. Which cuts down on the range by a whole bunch.
My BMW i3S currently says 174 km at 88%.
Specifically dodge ones
hemi tick will get ya
however by all means buy an ex police crown vic they don’t care bout idle hours, they just keep chugging along
-25°C outside but at least I have random german bass to keep me distracted while my car warms up (already back home, didnt warm up in the 10 minutes at all lol)
Stellantis
nothing surprises me anymore from them
Nobody buys the Pacifica in general anyways
haha these old videos.

It's still arguably the best selling minivan in the US I think
The reason I say arguably is because the sienna was hot on its heels last I heard
I despise stellantis/mopar so I'm hoping they fail
maybe the base model sold for fleets, but there aren't many options left for small vans over here
no more Transit Connect, no Nissan NV200 anymore, etc
if you need a van for transporting stuff you're also not gonna buy an Odyssey or Sienna for nearly 60K CAD (which are more premium and not really designed for commercial use anyways)
there's also Kia, but they basically sell no Carnival vans
Some absolute legend let me rev out his brand new c8 z06
It has just 205 kilometres on the clock
Wait the I3s doesn't use power from grid when preheating?
Assuming that you had it plugged in?
Uses power grid if plugged in.
But if I'm only charging once a week, then that's 6 days when it isn't plugged in.
And if preheating uses 1% every 10 minutes. Then I could easily lose 10-20% if I'm leaving the heater going as I'm going to the store, or before/after work.
Haven't actually checked how much range I'm losing by using the preheater.
The i3S has enough of a battery buffer also that keeping it plugged in every day isn't the biggest of issues.
depending upon how it works it may preheat the battery somewhat so could reduce amortised energy usage (a bit anyway)?
Looking into getting my license and saving for my first car, I want a Nissan Altima, I see early 2000s-2010s ones going commonly for 1-5k, thoughts?
Whatever car you look for, do your research. Make and model alone aren't good enough - you also want to research which model years have problems vs. those that don't. I'm not a Nissan person so I can't help you there, but I do know that (in general) Toyota Corolla's and Camry's from the 2000's are generally reliable if they were maintained over the years. Same with most Honda Civic's and Mazda 3 models in my experience.
Who would willingly want to be an Altima driver
If you want one because someone you trust suggested it, disown them

Cheap, decently powerful, okay looking
first lesson in cars: cheap cars are cheap for a reason
Well, what am I meant to do
I kind of have to buy a cheap car
#thesimpsons #usedcars #toyota #family #usedtoyota
I am stupid, please be direct with what you are trying to tell me or I won't understand
I don't want that though
I would stay away from anything with a CVT.
You don't really get to be picky when buying cheap first cars
You need something that isn't shit
I'm a weirdo and like them
Even tho everyone hates them
The issue is that they like to shit the bed.
I know :(
My first car was an E46 320i. Paid 50,000 SEK for it, and had it for 10 years.
I'm gonna get a manual one tho if I do get it
Then it could still be solid.
Just be sure to change all the fluids if it's a car you actually want to keep around for a while.
I'm hoping to possibly keep it till I can afford a GTR but that would be like 20+ years on an already 10+ YO car
Idk what I would get in between
Ok european
DO NOT BUY an early 2000’s cvt nissan altima do. not. do. it
Anyways, I'm hoping to have it by the time I turn 17, only issue is I'm 16 currently and don't have my learners yet...
nobody ever changes the fluid and most of the ones on fb marketplace are ready to shit the bed any minute now
If you read you would've seen that I said I'd go for a manual
shit didn’t see that but honestly for your budget i think you could get a v6 camry or accord if you’re looking for power
CAD btw
or a panther platform car which is arguably more fun lol
Also not a massive fan of the looks of those 2 (I know I'm picky for a first car but I don't wanna be driving around a shit box I don't like and feel bad about having)
idk what v6 camry/accord prices are in canada but they’re available here in northern mi for 2k 🤷♂️ might be worth a look
trust me an altima also is going to look like a shit box
Looking in seeing 5-10k
they came factory looking like that
I like them a bit
Just throw on some new rims and it'll look a lot better
I mean look at that
Those rims just catch your eye and make it look like 10x better
I would probably do something like these honestly
There's so many different rims with minor differences that it's so hard to choose between them
yeah i mean the wheels do make it look nicer but realistically how nice of an altima can be found for 1-5k cad
i’m not familiar with the canadian market so i dunno what that buys ya
Quite a few decent ones, was checking earlier and theres alot
This one caught my eye but not sure what transmission it's got
It's a CVT
have you heard of a pontiac vibe? they’re rebadged toyota matrixes and you can get a vibe gt with a 5-6speed manual depending on year, with a 2zz that revs to like 8,800rpm and is genuinely fun to drive
and can be had for cheap
I like CVTs but the reliability issues turn me off
me and my buddies all had one at one point, I got rid of mine but the rest are still kicking and were all under a grand
yeah nissan cvts are ass do not buy.
my friend had an 08 rogue on it’s 3rd trans in under 170k on it lmao
i’m not sure on the reliability of their manual trans cars or the 2.5 but that seems awfully cheap especially considering it’s cad
It needs some repairs, they said they got quoted $1200 so $3500 at least is what I would expect the final cost to be
did they say whats wrong with it
Internal slave cylinder leak
I know like nothing about cars apart from how they work
Do not buy. While I too understand the appeal of getting the car you want... focus on getting a reliable daily driver for your first car so you can use it to make money / get to work / etc. Once you have the ability to save up, then you can focus on things you want. Needs first, wants second.
That listing won't be up when I'm ready to buy it anyways, I'm looking right now so that I know what I want when I'm ready to buy
I'm gonna get a job over the summer to buy it
So probably 6-8 months
i googled it and saw people talking about having to drop the subframe to replace the slave cylinder 😬 not sure what the hourly shop rate is where you’re at but here it’s north of 150$ an hour so be wary bout labor costs as i assume you’re not fixing it yourself?
Yeah I'm not fixing it myself lol
That's sorta why I said $3500 isntead of the $2700 that would be the $1500 and the $1200 quote they got
at the end of the day just remember you get what you pay for and when something’s cheap and somewhat new/nice there’s usually a catch, i’ve gotten burned on that before
bought a 98 honda crv with lowish mileage and zero rust for like 2k, drove great for 2 months, and it popped a head gasket, turns out the prev owner used blue devil headgasket sealer just to sell it and got my ass
I don't understand how people can just do that
people want to make a quick buck and can’t afford or don’t want to fix stuff the right way
Like sell a car knowing that the person who bought it is gonna get fucked down the line because you withheld info
some people are scum
I'm playing beamng right now with my stupid 4 door sedan that has a 2600hp engine lol
Lots of people quite literally have 0.01% of a moral conscience. They see it as "welp, not my problem anymore; I made my money and the buyer didn't do a proper inspection. Sucks to suck. Seeya later, loser!"
Glad I didn't get that "personality"
Trust me when I say you don't want a car with that much power as your first
Also where'd you get 190 from? Everything I can find says 175
Idk I just searched Nissan Altima 2.5 HP and it said 190
I do tho because I wanna keep it for a long time
Always include the year.
190hp is the current gen 2.5
and never use the AI result
why come here to ask for thoughts if you're not going to listen to people that actually know what they're talking about?
you do not want this as a first car
First money problem with higher power stuff is the tyres. They're bigger. They're more expensive.
Second is engine complexity
If something goes, which it will on a cheap Altima, it won't be cheap to fix
Any f1 fans
Lately Sweden has been hit with 2 big storms, Johannes that was windy and Anna that came with a bunch of snow!
We defied the storm (in a safe way) with our vehicles!
more fun, I have literal bags of rust and various bits that I have removed from this car going around welding rusty bits.
This was meant to be a car I could risk crashing on track and not be too bothered but now I have so much time invested into it I wont be so careless
After these repairs you can have a minor crash without literally snapping the car in half
Assuming your welds are good
Most of the main structural areas of the car is alright else I would have left it condemned, it has a lot of rust but most of it in "cosmetic" areas.
this is such a fire image actually
i love the vibe
because of gran turismo
i have a question about a few cars
What about an early 2000s BMW?
since im starting to prepare for my drivings licence
i need to buy a car
as a first car
i liked a few models
i live in europe
hell yeah i had no idea it was in grand turismo 😂😂 the vibe gts are actually super fun to drive lol
Alfa 159 1.9 jtdm/2.4 jtdm
Honda civic 8th gen hatchback 2.2 n22a/ 1.8 gasoline
Lexus is xe20 with a 2.2 dcat or a 2.5 4gr
these are the ones i have looked at
they are in my budget 6000 euro
not sure which is the best fit for me
i also have looked at some VAG models but i didnt like anything
I just found a twin turbo 2008 bmw for less than 4 grand wtf
any ideas
The Honda and Lexus might be a bit more affordable to maintain.
Whatever car you do get. Make sure that it gets a good inspection prior to you buying it.
You would rather spend €50 on an inspection and not need it. Then not do it, and require €€€ in repairs as soon as you pick it up.
i checked the honda and the alfa 1.9 have basically the same maintanance
alfa is nice but not the same maintanance as a honda
but the alfa has a more expensive suspension maintanance because of its weight
and more frequent one at that
the diesel honda has a pretty expensive dual mass flyweel
and a very expensive clutch set
I'm thinking more that it's easier to find a good affordable shop for a Honda and Lexus, compared to Alfa. At least here in Sweden.
and junkjard
you are absolutely right
italian cars are exotic in bulgaria
germans are the most widely used
followed by the japanese ones
then by the korean
As my first car i feel like I should probably go with a small sedan or hatchback for practicality.
But whatever you do. Make sure that you keep maybe €3,000 around for any unplanned repairs.
yea
i have picked out these because i have looked at them irl
Toyota Matrix 🔥
Remember that any form of transportation is better than none.
Reminds me that you also need to take insurance and all of that into account.
Facts^
My 600euro shitbox for temp daily, fresh MOT
it does suck tho
doors wont lock realy slow on the highway
i got my electric skateboard in college
saving so much money on insurance
beats walkin tho
and i dont feel like getting hit by a floridian driver
ouch florida
I also wanna get something with 200-300hp tho
as a starter car?
Yes
Dacia for the win
Actually Dacia is not a bad idea
My mom's has ~300 and is slow
But they are really underpowered
yeah especially small light ones
means you can ring them out without getting into too much trouble
Yes
Then you don't know what slow is.
I do
what car does she have then
'05 Tahoe z71
well no shit it’s an suv lmao
It's totally not slow cuz it's like 2700kg
*truck
200-300hp in a smaller car is way different
a tahoe is a fullsize suv chief
And it has a slushbox. Too.
300 horsepower in a sedan versus a truck is an insanely different driving experience
That's why I said 200-300
I also don't understand how a 5.3L V8 only makes 300hp but whatever
I think its not even that high torque either
You know. I think my old E46 320i accelerated to 100 kmh faster than a '05 Tahoe.
Okay it's 450nm that's actually not low
And 'only' 170 hp in that.
I'd be down for 170 ngl
Anything higher than 150 id be happy with
But I saw a '08 535i for $3,650 and that caught my eye
yeah my first car (03 malibu with 170 horsepower) is considerably faster than the tahoe too
My BMW i3S is maybe a second faster to 100 kmh. I think that I did right around the 7 second mark?
That's around what I want
7-8s 0-100
prepare to open the wallet monthly to maintain that thing lol
I really don't care about the top speed much, I don't want to drive it fast, I just want to be able to accelerate fast, even with 2+ passenger
As someone who have owned a petrol BMW.
Yeah, maintaining it is expensive.
and thats really cheap for a 535i
They are starting to get old and have lots of things needing fixing, not a good first car, you need to have money for repairs
dont expect much
yeah that shits gonna blow as soon as someone else buys it
taillight warranty on that one 😂😂😭
😂
My radiator blew on my E46.
😭
Early 2010s Altima?
Surprisingly enough, the plastic expansion tank was fine.
Preferably V6 manual
No idea, not a car I would ever look at tbh
It would be really fun with an old Toyota with a blacktop engine.
A good first car would be an E110 Corolla, ugly, underpowered, but much more fun than anything else you can afford on a reasonable budget
I hate the look of Toyotas
imo a first car should be a humbling experience in something slow and shitty because you’ll have more fun in the slow and shitty car than anything else
Anything but a shit box toyota
again an altima is no better
Looks better
There's a reason, or many actually, that everyone is recommending them
i doubt there’s anything that is reliable with a 7-8second 0-60 time under 5k cad and that looks good
ya gotta compromise somewhere
here a toyota starlet is the starter car
Looks are the least important thing when you're looking for a first car on a budget
especially when you consider young first time drivers statistically tend to wreck it anyways
This one looks decent but it's a '96
why not learn in some piece of shit and buy something nicer later
Also the headlights are kinda meh
This
very foggy headlights lol
The plan is buy a GTR
And modify it
In like 20+ years
Preferably 10 but how am I gonna make 200k for a car before I turn 30
A cheap car reliable will make that dream come sooner rather than later or never
It doesn't. It only makes 5.3 L 285 hp (213 kW) because it's a Vortec 5300 V8
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Tahoe#Second_generation_(2000)
The Chevrolet Tahoe () is a line of full-size SUVs from Chevrolet marketed since the 1995 model year. Marketed alongside the GMC Yukon for its entire production, the Tahoe is the successor of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer; the Yukon has replaced the full-sized GMC Jimmy. Both trucks derive their nameplates from western North America, with Chevrolet ...
This is what I said last night too. It's good to have dreams. But it's also good to be realistic.
I didn't jump straight to buying a SubUwU because reliable models post-head gasket explosions were well outside my price range. Went with a reliable trusty Toyota to start with, then sold it for a SubUwU once I had the money.
Old fuel-crisis era V8's were fun.
Oh, you have an 8 liter V8. But only 190 hp.
I mean I'm going into aerospace engineering but it's gonna be a while before I start making good cash
I first need to do post-secondarys
Which is what, 4 years?
precisely why you should buy some reliable beater, get through college, and once you start making real money and have a place to live, get the nice car
That makes it 6 years from now before I can even start thinking about making good money
I'm not doing college, I'm doing uni
Remember that $100 isn't a lot to have.
But it's a lot to owe.
I’ve been driving for 5 years now and have drove shitboxes until late last year when I started making real money as a pipefitter, bought my own home, and paid 12k cash for my 18 regal. wouldn’t have been able to do any of that if I was constantly being nickle and dimed with an expensive unreliable car.
I still want something somewhat nice as my first car, that's why the "budget" is so high
i could buy my dream car but sadly owning a house is more important 😭 😂 if i even can buy a house here
Get an old Corolla
Same. I fear we'll have devolved into the cities exemplified by the movie Idiocracy before I get a house.
Plan is I should have $4800 by the end of this summer
Use the budget to get something reliable over something that's "nice".
2 months working full time might kill me but it's worth it
I want something reliable and noce
Nice as in solely really looks
Old Corollas are more fun to drive than most things with a lot of power, because unlike those cars you can actually drive them on the limit
I just want it to look somewhat decent and not make me wanna puke looking at it
Buy some stupid rims and whatever, make it your own
That was the plan honestly
accords aren’t bad
Affordable.
Nice.
Reliable.
Picking two of these is generally what you have to do.
The plan was to buy an altima and get aftermarket rims smth like this
I ran OEM wheels on my E46. But from an X3. Ran a square 225/45R17.
Can confirm. It's fun learning how to fishtail a Front Wheel Drive down logging roads.
Yeah but, super ugly
The rims and tires were only in the $700 range. And that's with fresh Michelin rubber.
Some of the newer ones look okay
Also they aren't really that cheap
$5k is already pushing it especially if I wanna get new rims
did you see the pic i sent of the listing?
looks better than an altima for sure
Okay that one looks pretty decent
I don't know where you are but I'm not getting a 2010 on for that price or anywhere near it
That's why you should go for this
A 2008 one is $5k
Those rims do alot
Looks actually decent
What is it?
E110 Corolla
None near me (as of now)
It's gotta be the rims making this look like shit right?
you can get a 2000 camry to look pretty decent with a set of wheels too
Most things really
i mean yeah steelies don’t always look great plus the rust
could just be on winter wheels like mine tho
pretty common to throw winter tires on a cheap set of steel wheels
Why not just use all-weather tires?
Because nothing compares to an actual set of winter tires.
Why not just sue winter tires year round
Good thing it's not hot here
Nvm it's both hot and cold
It got to like 35 last summer
And most winter tires are not great in wet conditions
Well then they can't be good for winter???
Especially here
i’m talking anything above freezing wears them out
Our winters are wet
my winter tires do fine in the rain and slush tbh
Here's a test with All Terrain tires in the snow. And they bought a used set of winters as a reference.
i’ve got studs in mine too so ice is no issue
Winter tire was like 5 seconds faster than the fastest AT Tire.
can start and stop great compared to everyone else when it’s hella icey
How about on a road that's covered in 3 inches of ice from snow constantly melting and refreezing
I was skidding something bad today. Some patches are BAD out here.
they’d eat it up
Driving slowly to a red light, maybe 10-15 mph. And I brake, and I skid, and I skid, and I skid...
i was BLOWN away with how awesome they were, it was my first set in the winter (usually just rocked allseasons and that was not fun)
the worst feeling
That's how I felt when I got winter tires that were less than 10 years old
In this video I look at all the best winter, all season, all weather and all terrain tires for the 2025 snow season! All this data is based on my own extensive testing this year, and from over 40 other professional tire tests meaning this list is the very best from tire tests this year.
====
Check out the updated site, and leave a tire review ...
I need to get new ones for the next season.
Asking myself if I should get studded or not.
Quite a lot, so much understeer in a rear wheel drive car you'd have thought it was fwd
i love the studs despite their illegality here (been pulled over with no issues haha)
they do make quite some noise when it’s dry though lol
jeez 😂
I'm like "Okay, that rear end looks decent, let's look at the front"
And I get hit with this
🤢
nothing a little junkyard trip couldn’t fix
just a bumper
and that god awful rock chip protector
Could easily haggle down the price because of it.
definitely

Today, I am driving the second generation Dacia Duster. As the company's best selling model, the Duster has quickly become a common sight on the roads of Britain - but...
Is it a good decision to buy my first car when I still have only my learners license
If you have the money and can find something reliable that isn't a bajillion $, IMO yes. Then again, I don't like financing anything because it makes me beholden to things outside of my direct control.
As long as I keep it parked on private property I shouldn't need insurance right?
Well unless I want to actually learn to drive it then I will
Impossible for me to answer as I don't know your local laws. Where I live, technically this is true, though if I don't have insurance and it's broken into or a tree falls on it... goodbye items in car, or goodbye car.
AB, Canada, I live in a complex with an underground parking garage so it would stay decently protected from nature
odds are the complex probably requires it have plates on it which would require insurance
I would lookup your provincial laws, but also lookup your complex's Strata / HoA / Community League (ew gross 🤢 🤮 ) laws too, as they may prohibit uninsured vehicles from being on the property for safety reasons.
Absolutely fucking not. Have you listened to anything that's been said?
No turbos. No more than 4 cylinders.
no suspiciously cheap shit
no 160+hp shit that's going to bankrupt you
How about 175
Why
I've been told as long as I avoid problematic years/models and CVTs I'll be fine
so you still haven't listened to anything that's been said here
Read the linked message
Maintenance is a thing
I saw your earlier messages about 300hp and whatever.... You don't know shit about cars. Please stop thinking you know more than us, and listen.
If I thought I knew more I wouldn't be asking
Yea you are asking but you're not listening
If you were listening you still wouldn't be saying the stuff you're saying
I wanted the V6 earlier but I realized yeah that's a dumb decision and that I don't need it
It's just extra price for something I don't need right now
With a like 90-130hp shitbox you can get away with 175-185 wide tyres easily. These are cheap and very easy to get.
Acceleration will be plenty. You floor it and choose when to change gear.
The Altima has 215 wide tyres
These are expensive
@hearty grail ^
How often do I need to replace tires?
Depends on how much you drive and the kind of driving, and the tyres you get
From what I can find the difference is only about $25 per tire
i wouldn’t necessarily worry about tire cost too much but it is def something to keep in mind, especially with low profile or giant wheel size tires
215’s are pretty small relative to modern cars today so they’re still decently cheap
As soon as every 15 minutes of driving (on the racetrack) to every ~10 years, assuming the car is stored out of direct sunlight and above ~5 C on average. If you drive like most average people, likely every ~4-5 years or however many thousands of KM's the tyres are rated for. This varies from tyre to tyre model, so check the documentation.
i drive about 80k miles a year so I usually get a year and a half max on my reg tires, not sure on my winters yet because this is my first season with them
Okay then a $100 difference isn't really much to worry about
no i wouldn’t worry about it
So my expenses will be
Car
Second set of tires
Set set of rims for those tires
Insurance
Oil and filters
I can change oil myself
Possibly a jack and jack stands so I can change my wheels by myself
what's the rush? like what's the advantage of buying it now vs later
imagine choosing to drive an Altima 💀 why would you do that to yourself
don't forget gas, you don't want a first car that's gonna chug fuel
Yeah it's a small 2.5l i4 so it probably won't be much
Gas prices have been going down recently where I live
I've seen it I think under a dollar for a gallon
I actually don't know if it's per gallon or liter tbh
2.5 is a pretty big 4 cylinder
It will use quite a bit of gas
Yeah true that's like 625cc each cylinder
The combined average mpg is kinda shit tbh
uses considerably more than my 2ZZ corolla
theres no way its gallons
in the US gas prices range from like $2.80 to $8 per gallon
and $2.80 is dirt cheap
and I don't even drive the thing carefully
You're Canadian, right? It's litres
And yeah no way that price is a gallon lol
I'm not saying worry about the tyres specifically, it's just things like this add up on more powerful vehicles
Everything is beefier, everything costs more
Tyres are just the easiest example
like the injectors on my 2ZZ, they're $320nzd each from the dealer. Can't get them new anywhere else. The alternative is suspiciously cheap Chinese ones
Which apparently the previous owner chose to use, and they're already noisy
Okay yeah
It's usually like 1.40 tho so it's been pretty low
I'm paying the equivalent of like $2.2cad/litre for 98 RON at the moment
good thing my car doesn't average 9 litres per 100k like the 2.5 Altima
it's 8 at the worst and usually 7.2, or in the 6s if I just do long distance on good roads
and makes more power 😎
just ignore the $1.3k nzd for set of genuine injectors
98 RON is €2.20/L at cheap stations, €2.50/L at expensive (motorway) fuel stations now here
(3.60-4.05 CAD/L - 10.00-11.40 USD/gal)
Luckily I can refuel across the border and save a lot
Yikes
how has that thing been treating you btw ?
Great
found time to change the gearstick and AC yet ?
knob was the first thing I changed, pretty sure you've seen it
I got the parts to do the AC but haven't installed them yet
Just did the head unit because the Philips piece of crap it had died
Which stole the AC installing money
oh yeah i remember now
aw that sucks
goodluck on that
At least I have android auto now
you got time though were still in winter (unless it's summer over in new zealand i forgot)
that's an upgrade
oh yeah southern hemisphere
that sucks
we had two -5 days in a row lol
fucking sucks when you bike to school everyday
does the window work at least
Yes lol
cause i remember my sister's car had a broken AC and the window fuse or sum fucked up
so she was stuck in a boiling oven 😭
But open windows suck when the wind is strong and hot
welp i hope ya get to fix your AC soon man
why dont you just bike to your job then /J
Dad has recently offered to pay for the recharge and line flush
Because he could feel the head coming out of the car when I got in it the other day

lmaoo
that's nice
That would just be riding my bike from the garage to the car, I drive all day lol
fair enough
i bike to school everyday cause i got less than 2 km from it
Just need to get a quote for the mobile AC guy to come do it
welp goodluck on that
i hope you dont get dried like a raisins before that
I can highly recommend BMW 130i if its available whew you live also pretty reliable if you get one that well maintained.
Unless its very heavy 300hp is more then you ever need. Imo around 250-260hp in car that weights less 1500kg is all you need and you can have fun on b roads without going way over the speed limit. I have driven 340I with around 500hp didn't find that fun as soon put you foot on gas you where going way to fast.
Sadly none :(
E60 is bad idea E90 much cheaper to run. But i would recommend 330i the N52 is way more reliable then N54.
Not getting insurance is probably stupid things you can also isn't it illegal to drive without any insurance?
N52/M57 are general good if well maintained the rest i would just avoid.
shush European. We're talking about a first car for someone in NA
Yeah that sucks then 330i best option if you want BMW but its very important to get one with good service record.
You still got the N52 right?
I'm not american
I guess not M57 becuase its diesel.
A BMW is a horrible idea as a first car outside of Europe
It's a horrible idea for someone on a budget that is unable or unwilling to play mechanic anywhere
And just horrible for the wallet in general
My E36 wasn't too bad, but that was long ago and with a M42
Wouldn't be great today
A 255hp i6 rwd euro car is the opposite of a good first car
crashed in the first day of snow, guaranteed
That's huge skill issue then.
New drivers are rarely skilled
also 95 fuel required with 98 preferred
If you manage to crash with decent winter tires especially with DTC on you shouldn't be driving.
How old are you?
That's a bold statement
Got 130i as my first car lots of snow right now no issues at all although i had my license for 3 years before i got it so i driven alot + decent amount of sim racing. But if you keep DTC on its pretty impossible to loose control even when its lots snow outside.
The biggest issue is probably people not getting decent winter tires to begin with not the car itself.
Doesn't really count as your first car if you drove for 3 years prior. Just the first car you actually owned
Honestly not DTC limits the power so much and steps in as soon you loose grip even driving with DTC half off is fine it still got you back if you start to slide to much. But only if you got decent/good tires.
But you weren't a new driver then, and it's very possible to crash with stability control on, misjudge braking distance, go into a corner too fast, etc etc
21
This image is fitting
True but still my first winter with RWD and also here in Sweden we have mandatory skid course you need to do get your license where you get to feel how it loose control and how the control it. Imo every country that gets proper winter should have that.
you got that car after 3 years of driving and so far haven't binned it yet and are still young and dumb enough to think you'll remain fine forever
Yeah Canadians don't have that
95 is the lowest we have here 98 isn't much more expensive either. But USA general pretty poor fuel quality from my understanding?
The point is that they're on a heavily limited budget and haven't driven before, they should be getting a corolla or whatever other cheap low power fwd shitbox that's cheap as chips to run and driving that at least until they have a stable job
I just don't do stupid things on the roads and always keep long distance car Infront. But yeah lots of new drivers have no "risk management" and drives much faster then they are capable off. But also most drivers in general are pretty bad and keeping good distance to car Infront idk how it can be that hard for some drivers.
People are impatient
Yeah you are right i waited pretty long time get my first car i wanted something nice and something i could afford comfortably.
I drove my 94 corolla harder than I've ever dared to drive my 01 190hp corolla wagon
Gotten sideways in the rain and ice multiple times in that thing... Would never dare to try that in the wagon
Yeah i was lucky and could borrow my parents cars if needed so i had no rush to get my own.
Well at least with cornering, gone much faster on the motorway
I fond it much easier to keep good distance instead of needing to small "micro adjustments" all the time because you are to close to the car infront.
Bro read the channel name
but then you miss passing opportunities if you're too far back 😉
Even with 20 years old RWD BMW its almost impossible to go sideways if you keep DTC fully on honestly surprised how good it works on such old car only times i have gone sideways have been on purpose so far.
drunk me thought it was tech chat
bmw 340i
there
i cleaned myself
Put your phone away when you're drunk
Lol who has traction control
x5er touring
Well obvious i go close if going to overtake but when you are just cruising i keep pretty big distance no need take stupid risk.
Ill find the broom and sweep you outta here if you keep saying random BMW names
i swear the new cla sucks
looks overdone
no one asked
That's what i was saying before if you have modern car older one with good Traction control pretty much idiot proof unless you have terrible tires.
As every Mercedes the past 5 years.
Interior is just RGB spam.
pretty much
There's one intersection near here where a road out of a town joins the main highway, and a few times I've gotten into the northbound merge lane right as a truck is passing and I've floored it and made it past the truck before the end of the lane 😎 couldn't do that in the 94
but the c118 tho
Sure, and double/triple the budget
In not unwilling just unknowledgeable
The most I know how to do is an oil change
That's good, but at your budget it's not a good idea regardless, BMWs get expensive quick, especially a cheap old one
Yeah always save up until you can comfortable afford the car you want and get on with good history/Service record. I would personally avoid all BMW from mid 2000s that doesn't have the N52 or M57 engine. They are generally great if well maintained.
N52B25 should probably be avoided, but that might exist in NA?
M54 is a good engine too, but age is catching up with it
Yeah meant N52B30 that you get in the 130I/330i
But i'm pretty NA only got that version since 325i isn't a thing their they only got 328i/330i and i think boith of them have N52B30.
The car I want is $100k+ sooo
Time to start saving
yeah in Canada we use metric, but where I live in Canada gas is closer to $1.50 CAD/L
also yeah someone mentioned fuel grades and that's another good consideration for your first car. I wouldn't recommend getting something that needs 91 AKI
That's cheap.
I think ours is like 50% more expensive.
what country?
Sweden
ah makes sense
for North America, we basically have the most expensive gas here, just to put it in perspective
Americans have it sooo cheap
Bricked up.
Is this an okay price for rims?
I'm gonna need to buy new rims and tires for a winter set so I wanna get some that look good
CAD btw not USD
Seems alright, might be worth considering that gloss black might not be glossy most of the winter, and also Y spokes are a pain to clean
I love it when my starter shears a bolt tab off in the Orileys parking lot
Gotta stay bricked
gloss black is gonna be gray unless you're always cleaning it
Would something like these be easier to clean?
oh heavens
Fewer spokes = Easier to clean.
Oh, they are the same model. Just glossy and not?
Non-gloss is probably easier to keep clean
I don't think so
They arent
They are quite different
This entire area is different
Much easier to tell out the difference.
Yeah. The Envy will be much easier to clean.
right rim is a better look imo
Bronco is getting parked until I get it fixed
Driving this beaut for the next couple weeks
Same. Right one has too much going on.
you mean the left one
I think so too
Plus cheaper
$600 for 4
Keep in mind they will be going on an altima
oof
oh my goodness i love it
fav trucks of all time
definitely don’t own a couple
Still a Y spoke but yes, should be somewhat easier
Yeah not fan of black rims at all i find silver rims looking better 90% of the time.
these cars last absolutely forever!
1200 bucks a year for level 2 self driving lol
Apparently they don't want to sell it anymore.
Thats what im thinking. Maybe musk is trying to sink the company
Nah, when it's monthly they can no longer support older cars so people buy a new one and also so they don't have to refund purchases because it sucks.
$100 a month is A LOT.
especially since its nothing special compared to other cars with self driving at this point
its still level 2, meaning you still have to keep your hands on the wheel and alert
thats good i dont want people using to sleep while driving
and that shit already happens
that's like a bit under a ford Sierra's price (before fees)
and that's a one time payment
I didn't think they were even legally allowed to call it "self-driving"
what in the everloving fuck ford your damn quad beam halogen headlights are so insanely bright 😭
sitting in a parking lot when he pulled up and cooked my retinas
my dad has a honda elevate go check it on the internet
he also has a honda jazz/fit
this is basically all modern headlights. 🙁
my humble wagon c:
Not in my experience. I mostly get zoinked by old halogens that are not adequately aligned.
Even if a halogen is aimed to max height I can happily drive towards it.
New mini's are some of the biggest offenders I see
One thing I notice is HGV lights are always perfect, no problems ever and realistically they need the best visibility
G30 5 Series is a great looking car.
HGV? I mean SUVs are another kind of horrible in regards to that but welp
thats my point, SUVs take the piss but somehow truck headlights dont
absolutely loving the G31, it's a B57D30O2 btw c:
anything that has headlights that high should not be allowed to drive on the road
I guess trucks where you live aren't fitted with a million additional lights and meeting them is like driving into the sun for several kilometers
lol I get that experience when they flash to say hi or whatever to another truck at night
I think for me it is that they cram so much light into such a tiny hole that it makes it glaring and annoying. Even incorrectly set older lights aren't as annoying because the lights are physically larger.
yeah its ridiculous, I hate the fact that we have decided the general brightness level is acceptable if they auto level but it doesen't take into account geography and assumes everywhere is perfectly flat
even if stuff is perfectly aimed with the undulations we have here you are going to end up experiencing the full force of someones dipped beam a lot.
i mean it does accentuate the chrome bits and lowers the amount of sparkles
Mclaren W1
I mean alt girls do alt girl things lmao
black rims do this neat thing where they almost appear to not be there when spinning.
Legitimately thinking about replacing the black rims on my i3S.
Well that's not supposed to be wet
I just watched my moms truck hit 5k rpm for the first time EVER
only because we were going up a hill and it downshifted for higher torque
It usually cruises at 1-2k
I've genuinely seen this thing go 140kmh and not hit 5k
And it's not like it's got a bunch of gears or anything it's a 4 speed automatic
is a downshift that surprising lmao
it went up a hill and downshifted like it should i’m confused lmao
Has been a while now since I've been to the Nurburgring, was definitely worth it though.
No. It's a FORD product.
I want an old police car
The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (colloquially referred to as the CVPI, P71, or P7B, or also called Crown Vic) is a four-door, body-on-frame sedan that was manufactured by Ford from 1992 to 2011. It is the police car version of the Ford Crown Victoria and was the first vehicle to use the Ford Police Interceptor name.
From 1997 to 2013,...
I already have a crown vic
Relevant. https://youtu.be/2uH_X-9fjfI
I'm a community enforcement volunteer! I make a scene at every town hall meeting. I own three Police Interceptors, all bought for under $2,000. I load up a Glock 17, drop my pants, and take aim at my front door from my kitchen table. With the power of imagination, I defend my home again and again and again and again.
Guys. a technical question
would an ABS block that came with all disc brakes work with same car that has rear drum brakes?
it will work but not how it supposed to
how so?
The block liiks identica, but IDK about the guts.
man I wish we had french cars here in Canada
idk if my fellow Canadians heard the news, but we're allowing Chinese cars here now in exchange for canola oil and other exports
I would love to see BYD over here
true
Lucky bro
Yeah I've just never seen it go that high, even when down shifting
it is finally time to install my custom winterfront (tar paper lmaoo) for my trucks because they won’t warm up at all
we shall see if my car needs one too but windchills of -35 next week 🥶
The only thing I'm getting from this is your parents drive like grandmas
Never floored it in their lives
lol
Do you think making a 3d printed, spray foam insulated case for drill batteries would protect them from temperature degradation if they’re left in a car
Guys some BYD cars r gonna be coming to canada soon
ye I shared a CBC article earlier today ^
I'm not the target market for these cars, but I think freer trade is a good thing for us.
Mmm I love impossibly cheap poorly designed cars that destroy the used market
I guess it's better than the impossibly expensive poorly designed cars that Ford, GM, and Stellantis make
just buy a Toyota ffs, if you can't afford a new car don't buy a new car
look what I saw yesterday :3
some people....
WE had a semi like that, except it was all gears because clutch brake is completely whooped out and useless. Who needs repairs when you can just grind 4th until she pops in.
door 👍
grind em till ya find em
They won't be impossibly cheap over here. They're still going to be tariffed, but at low amount. They can also only sell a limited quantity (for now)
I've also heard great things about BYD. I think more competition is good because the American manufacturers are asleep at the wheel with EVs rn
great picture
Is it normal to still have quite a lot of what guessing is condensation coming from the exhaust even after car is driven warm or is this because its cold outside rn.
A Toyota from 20 or more years ago yes. Not new ones.
even better they are the wrong bolts for alloys and catch maybe 1 or 2 threads
those wheels are coming off for steelies though
Phase 1 305s only had 3 bolts anyway
why she just holding it there 😭
Don't be dense, the new ones are fine
Yeah with all the recalls and quality issues
If you accept that, then sure
I'd take an 80 series land cruiser over a new one any day
What, the Alabama plant fucking up engine cleaning?
This is the shit people say when they only read dumbass headlines and don't actually know what's going on
That's not the only thing
How about all the Camry's and Corolla's with hybrid powertrain issues?
Or the backup camera fault?
Don't be so dense indeed. Brand loyalty is not always a good thing and often becomes harmful.
Have you been talking to mechanics that only ever see broken shit and say it's a widespread problem because they don't understand the scale of things?
I don't believe this merits a response
don’t ya know toyota’s the best car company? cmon bro buy a toyota they’re the best!!! they never break!!! oh my goodness!! toyota can never make a bad product ever!!! god i cannot stand people who will ride or die a brand no matter what 😭
believe it or not there are reliable vehicles that aren’t toyotas, and there are unreliable toyotas too lmao
pretty certain you could say this about almost any car brand
people with issues tend to bitch and moan a lot louder than people who have had no issues
to be fair, toyota has made mostly rock solid vehicles but good god almighty there are other good cars too
I don't mean to sound like that at all lol
But I will not take idiots calling all new cars bad based on BS reasoning and no real experience
the people with issues caused by their own abuse also love to blame the car and bitch about it
i mean i think it’s pretty common knowledge that most new cars have dropped quite a bit in quality compared to their predecessors and people talk a lot about honda/toyota’s drop in quality a lot more because they’ve been, for years, the manufacturers pumping out rock solid (for the most part) cars and they’ve dropped the ball a bit
There's a reason why most large taxi fleets are entirely made of up Toyota hybrids these days
I've yet to see any actual widespread drop in quality though, people seem to just imagine shit.
Not including incidents like the Alabama plant engines
i think a lot of it is primarily with perceived build quality for the price as they’re typically simpler feature wise than most other vehicles, despite their higher price
Well yeah there's that, people been spoilt by impossibly cheap garbage flooding the market
yeah i mean unfortuanately that’s entirely why kia/hyundai exists
I know someone that bought a Hyundai purely for the interior...
I don't trust that it'll still be running in 20 years on the same engine
super early hyundai/kia was decent because they were so insanely cheap and decently reliable (early 2000’s) and now they’ve spiraled
i know a few people that bought it for the 10yr 100,000 miles because “they stand behind their product so it must be good” but really its because their gdi engines are shit and they would never sell them without said warranty 😭
Oh god yeah don't get me started on warranties and how people think that
Iirc that specific 100k warranty was forced because of issues
💀
yeah when people doing proper maintanance can’t keep a motor from blowing up in a regular warranty period, so they extend it to 100k, somethings fucked
mind you almost nobody with a kia/hyundai maintains anything at all then gets shafted by kia when they deny their warranty claims
Pretty easy when you're still using engine tech from the 80s tbf
yup
plus they were incredibly incredibly cheap and it’s honestly probably the only reason they exist outside of korea today lol
no shot they’d develop a customer base if they tried entering any market today with their garbage
same thing with mitsubishi at least here in the U.S tbh
Mitsubishi motors is effectively dead
They don't even make cars anymore, just SUVs and trucks
somehow their sales went up the last couple of years which is tragic because their cars are garbage as well. honestly they seem to be decently reliable engine wise (since most of them are still N/A lol), but the rest of the car is junk
the only vehicle from them i’d have ever considered was a mirage and only because it was basically a brand new shitbox lmao
How shit is a pickup going to be when it costs as much as a Yaris hybrid 💀
Even BYD's joke of a shark 6 is twice the price
could use pickups priced like that here in the u.s because good god nobody can afford these luxury grocery getters 😭
A 1.5l Turbo hybrid petrol... And it's AWD so you don't even get control
And it tries very hard to look like a ford
yuck yuck
awd trucks and suvs are so stupid
give me controll
and shit have an auto setting for all i care
If it's beyond the size of a RAV4 it should be proper 4WD
yup
it sucks getting stuck with awd because it doesn’t fucking engage until it’s damn near buried lol
how far we’ve fallen with crossovers
they should be like. 1st gen rav4/crv sized, maybe ford escape sized at most
now they’re stupid boring lumps with awd and “ground clearance” for the single dirt driveway they’ll drive on
Intermittent AWD is the worst kind of AWD
If it ain't always on it ain't AWD, it's a joke
exactly
