No, the skill issue of not remembering to put it into 4wd like once a month or whatever
why are they shooting themselves in the foot like this 💀
cause its GM... they kinda do that
wellp... looks like the aftermarket head unit scene is going to get an influx of new customers
Ironically, I need to replace my Clarion OEM head unit in my 2009 Honda CR-V LX. Something keeps shorting it out.
Isnt this manny khoshbins rembrandt bugatti?
kinda shit makes me want to move abroad
what do yall think about that byd yingyang car
hell yeah, does she run?
Yea, its already Weber swapped and devacced
Has a lot of suspension rework done too
After franken z6 swapping my 86 crx I miss the Weber induction alot more than I thought I would
I already have the monster build, now I want something clean and dailyable
oh fuck yeah
@compact grotto sheeeesh
damn, will watch
Anyone else have mental illnesses resulting in multiple of the same cars with different engine swaps and not matching paint on panels?
(i swear i do actually fix things... body shops just let me down constantly)
Not sure about the random colors, but if I had the cash, I'm sure I'd have half a dozen or more del Sols.
Eh. The middle car was hit by a deer. The black car had a lot of rust. The furthest car was a bare shell when I got it.. but usdm 93 hardtops are stupid rare so I saved it from being cut up and have cobbled it together with other part outs
Middle one WAS one color till then
I prefer the multiple different cars with the same engine
what engines do they have?
2gr-fe with 12.5:1 pistons in it and a custom intake ~340whp. a 1AR with balance shafts deleted. not dynoed yet. the hardtop is getting a different 2gr with a VW DSG
good, no K swaps
avid no K
I've half convinced an american friend to let me put a 2GR in the 370Z they want to buy
I've got a celica I'm putting the beams 3S into slowly
and I drive a 2zz corolla wagon
this would be with the sleeves that make it ~3.7 litres and of course high comp pistons
She’s fun
is that a GR86 steering wheel?
Yes
it just fits right on?
Yup. Just enough wires in the clock spring to make the audio controls and cruise control work too. And airbag. No backlights though
oh cool
I drove this thing 12 hours to new York. So it has to be comfortable for me too. 🤣 it’s done tail of the dragon, Myrtle beach, New York. The Colorado trip got canceled this year though
ive got a new 2gr going together for this guy. BC rods, FXE pistons, flowed heads, and cams.. hoping to get close to 400 wheel. we'll see how that pans out.
the 1ar is getting a turbo. but thats currently with the wizard of the mr2 v6/AR swaps for tune development
I had a 72 Celica I fully rebuilt. It had an 18RC when we first bought it. Fully rebuilt that tank of an engine. Put a 5 speed in since it came with a 3 speed auto.
those first gen celicas are sexy
This is my most recent purchase for $300. I just want a liftback 1st gen celica now
Beauty
Who owed you a few thousand bucks to sell that to you for $300? lol
it was listed as having a junk title so couldnt be titled. but i applied for a bonded title and got one so... it never actually got put in for the junk title.
it hasnt been driving in 20 years
it runs with ether. but i need to toss a new fuel pump in it and clean the tank out.. interiors trashed too. and when its dry the paints pretty rough
Did spark plugs in my pickup this morning, a coolant loop flush and a transmission fluid flush. Going to do a brake flush, new rotors and pads, and a transfer case and difs flush tonight.
16 spark plugs for a v8 is still dumb though.
Hey yall so I've always wanted to get into cars but I was never close with friends who were into it and my family wasnt either any advice on how to get started
like you mean working on stuff yourself? or just like learning about cars in general?
youtube is your friend. there is enough info for doing anything with a car
it's easier to understand modern stuff when you understand the very basics ^
chrisfix does also make some deep dive info for alot
also if you've never seen it, watch some episodes of the old Top Gear show
its alive, runs like shit but hey it runs
Running better than my British Lada (Triumph Dolomite)
my main car has just failed its MOT on some nonsense as well
Average mopar design
It’s for emissions but it’s still idiotic
Took me two hours to do all sixteen plugs and also replace coil packs
they'll do anything except replace the shitty old pushrod engine with something designed to be efficient
To be fair ford did the dual plug design first but it was just on the 2.3/2.5 limas
I don’t know, I kinda like the v8
Where did I mention it not being a V8?
And I got 25mpg average in my 1,100 mile trip.
Mopar just refuses to redesign anything in a timely fashion
Only 14 in the city but highway 25 mpg was great
What year is this pickup?
I hate replacing hemi exhaust manifolds
2020 ram classic
I’ve got a leaky one on the passenger side I need to fix
Yikes
It's sooo far behind in tech
I don’t care about the tech. I care about something that can get me to work, can take a beating and come back for more, whether there’s two feet of snow on the road or it’s going up a muddy logging road
I don't think you understand what I mean
You are on about the engine. I know
I considered buying a 25’ 1500 with their new inline six but decided against it
Or are you on about something else besides the powertrain?
That's the point of the "classic" line
It’s just a continuation of the 4th gen body style with a few of the 5th gen upgrades. I had a 2010 before I bought this, so I was already familiar with the 4th gen body
And the engine. Though I do like having an 8spd now be the 5spd my 2010 had. Even if it had a better rear dif gearing than my current one does
Mopar finally discovered that they shouldn't be making transmissions
Yeah lol. Though the 8spd my current 1500 has is dumb. To do a fluid change you have to replace the whole pan since the filter is integrated
I’m still debating regearing my front and rear dif to 3.92 since I had that on my 2010 and liked the torque compared to the 3.21 I have now
Just the engine.
It's 22 years old and was about 22 years behind when it released
Eh. I like it. I’m familiar with it. Only reason I didn’t get the 25 with the inline six is I’m not familiar with it or how to fix it if needed
There’s a reason all the wildland engines in the area have 6.4L hemis
Not surprising that you'd like it.... the people that don't like it don't buy stellantis vehicles
This is the only non hemi type 6 in the area I work. If they can take the beating we put our rigs through it’s good enough for me
There was briefly a ford type 6 on the forest here, but it went through two engines in two years
Yeah that's the only zf8 inconvenience
I’m also debating if I buy either the hemi return 1500 when thst comes out, or if I buy a 2500 instead.
I don’t normally keep a vehicle for more than six or seven years.
Kind of tempted by the 2500 rebel and power wagon trims
Sounds about right depending on the gen of Ford it was
My Ford gives me enough electrical gremlins as it is
They don't buy fords either
Everything is going to have issues, you ain’t getting away from that.
Don’t matter if it’s brand new or 40 years old
I don’t doubt that Stellantis has made some good engines, but half the vehicles they’re mounted in are shit
The American vehicle owner mindset
Do doubt it, they haven't made any good engines
The Pentastar has go die in a hole, that thing sucks through and through
Actually, anything like pre 1980
they may have some mediocre engines but definitely no good ones
Before Dodge got tossed around
how tf is the pentastar still around 😭
it’s death is overdue
he’s not wrong though
I think as long as the Wrangler keeps selling, it’ll be around
the number of oil coolers i’ve replaced for friends and families on that DAMN engine gahhh 😭
Good engines? Not really. Semi reliable and competitive for the market for a medium to heavy duty pickup? Yeah.
in other words my lml needs a crank (typical lmao) 🫠
looking for shortblock options but they’re expensive as hell
My GFs LB7 needs a TCM and injectors
Among other things that come from it having over 300k and being a farm truck
ah yeah you’ll have that
I think I’m going to sell my current pickup before it hits 300k miles which is a bit sad, but I do want a fifth gen Ram
suprised they made it 300k+, is it it’s first set?
I like my take home rig
I think so
i can’t bring myself to buy a ram
terrible experiences w the rams at the landscaping place i used to work at
Remember you saying that.
I’ve yet to kill one, so I’m gonna stick with them lol.
And I’m not the nicest with my vehicles
yeah i have terrible luck in general i’ve not found a car that survives me lmao
work truck keeps on chugging along but it’s dogshit lol
I’m more impressed my last one still ran after getting tboned and rolling
Kinda sold me on keeping with them
hell yeah
I mean this one still ran after having this happen to it. Good old government vehicles getting abused. Not my picture but I was present for this shit show
dumbass behind the wheel?
Culvert kinda just. Collapsed
my 2015 chevy work truck needs to blow up i’m sick of the 4.3, it can’t tow what i gotta tow, it’s nearing 300k miles, and i’m the only person left with a rwd truck, (really need 4x4, end up stuck in the mud and snow 24/7)
ah damnn
The culvert under the road collapsed when we pulled to the side to let a log truck pass
And down we went
Rip
Rig was fine besides the brush guard getting bent up lol
i’d kill for a nice knapheid box like that i also despise my silly toolboxes that sit inside the bed
That was one of our patrol rigs on the Coleville
Want to say pt37?
nicee
There’s a video somewhere of when it got used to pull a stuck tractor trailer out of a ditch
It was NOT happy but it did it
It a 3/4 or 1-ton?
🤣🤣
1 ton
It was still alive and well when I left my employment on the Coleville national forest and they’d had it for six years
It’s probably still being abused now
Most likely.
i love abusing work trucks
We overloaded the F-150 that my dads work provided him more than a few times
You're not getting stuck often enough then. If you get stuck enough on company time they might consider the loss of time now seriously?
I wish the work trim was not widely available for regular consumers to buy. But no, fleet only.
i get stuck all the time, company is phasing out 2wd trucks because we get a shitload of snow and too many people would put the trucks into the ditch or something dumb, i’m just stuck with the shitty truck till it either blows up or they find a new guy to give it to lmaoo
Drive it like you stole it then. Unfortunately those 4.3 are durable and take a lot to kill
that's the one on the VW MQB platform?
It's basically a passat
Yes
Nah its more like Golf Superb is the Skoda version of the Passat
Basically Golf GTI but cheaper.
So Golf but comes as sedan and wagon instead of hatchback.
Sorry hard to tell the size from wiki photos
why not get a base Golf at that point
(totally not biased loll)
Yeah and no
do i need another 1,000$ shitbox lol
Yes.
Can never have enough shitboxes
😬
see i currently have 9 at the moment so i gotta round it up to 10 lol
Holy shit, it killed a wrist pin
Well
you have no choice then
how
I don't think Honda expected people to put 100hp through the HF block
The wrist pin is the last part I would expect to fail
Dude look at what holds the wrist pin to the piston
And tell me that's not what failed
Is there even a clip?
Press fit
Bruh
Don't bruh me bruh Hondas engineers from fuckin 40 years ago
that connecting rod is also really tiny
Bad design on hondas part, the bruh was toward the engineers
They just didn't expect people to take the HF and put stuff on it
Stock this engine was only making like 56hp
I put a d15a1 head and a Weber on it and bumped it to around 110
This is replacing it
so that's how they slam?
When they are 40yo with 300k+ miles yea
She saw every bit of 6300 rpm at least daily for over a year
I was not nice to this motor lol
my name is on it
it’s my buddies ex daily lol
still a good daily but it burns oil like a mothafucker (certified 1zz moment)
also mysteriously keeps cracking the spark plug on cylinder one, and only cylinder one
the little electrode breaks and moves up and down in the plug ceramic itself 😅
very very common design
Very stupid design
If they had added wrist pin retainer clips then it wouldnt be a issue
how 😭
They're not even accidents, the roads here in greater OKC are just crap. The G-sensor sensitivity is set to LOW.
The roadwork quality here for the past two decades have been sub-par. Not to mention the effort to properly repair or repave everything is agonizingly slow.
One part of roadway was so bad, I hit a pothole one night during a light rain in 2019, it popped one of my tires slightly out of its rim and caused a flat. The city did have a scheduled plann to repave & widen that entire section in 2022/2024, but they ended up doing the former ahead of schedule in 2020.
some people should not be on the road
Is the crossing defective or something? How was it even let into the tracks area if the other side was already shut?
they always shut the incoming side not defective
Then yeah I guess the driver is just terribly defective because that was most certainly a first gear situation not revers.
That's not what happened...
They couldn't go or turn or whatever (hard to tell) because of the car on the other side
So they stupidly reversed back over the tracks
well he is no more
Tesla: Hey, Starbase, want some Cybertrucks?
︀︀
︀︀Starbase: Sure.
︀︀
︀︀Tesla: How many?
︀︀
︀︀Starbase: Yes.
︀︀
︀︀www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUNy7jRof_c
Finally the full video. I thought the truck got stuck somehow
oof i keep seeing more of these on the road and i hate it
Way too busy imo, reminds me of drawings by 3 year olds
I kinda fuck with it though, reminds me of like old bench seat covers but a modern version
I guess it does a bit, just way more colorful
After a wrong turn this 24 meter long truck and trailer ended up on a small road with a weak little old bridge. And it found it self stuck for over a month, since there were train tracks in front of it.
And it was not allowed back over the little bridge.
All this in a wildlife sanctuary.
So how would you get it out?
0:00 Intro
1:00 Saturday (...
That's a very expensive wrong turn...
What 280,000 miles look like on a factory rotor and 150,000 miles on a pad, the other side looks completely fine but this side is horrendous.
How tf did they even stop with that 😭
judging on the minimal shinny spot.. they didnt. lololol
i mean... i've had up until recently a shot brake booster and rutsed out brake lines so rusty that once i put in the new bootser it blew through them
so like shit happens
Is this normal if i start a lot of power hungry stuf on the car (Audi a4 b7 2.0tdi)
No idea. Doesn't raise any direct red flags for me.
Having issues with the 12V?
Lamps sometimes flikers when u go down to ide so just checking
Most notisebole on the low beams
It dose charge 14.00v when berly enything is on so i asume its fine
Are they the factory bulbs?
the only thing i can think of is are the battery terminals loose or corroded
14 charging is good
okay nothing to worry about then beckuse i had all lights on and the fan on full speed and all eltrec heting on
If you've got some high power amps the stock alternator will struggle at idle
Which brand of trucks are the worst and which are the best in terms of reliability?
This was the front left brake, the right front looked completely normal with plenty of life left on both pads. While braking it felt like the rotor was warped, whoever put those pads on didn't install the screechers so if my dad would have continued driving it like that he would have kissed that piston goodbye.
Icarsoft scanner?
thats funny i just did my pads and rotors and my rear pads and rotors were factory too 110k miles
also did the fronts but they weren't nearly as bad
Is this a fiat ducato?
It's the Fiat Ducato/Peugeot Boxer/Citroen Jumper/Opel/Vauxhall Movano/Toyota ProAce Max.... in the US it's also the RAM ProMaster and I think Iveco also introduced a version called the eSuperJolly
But in short: yes
So you could just steal all the badges from other ones and make everything
You could make it an everything and nobody would notice
Yup my laptop whas dead at the moment
I got one too
vw is also doing it now 😢 with the new transporter thats just a ford
i use vcds otherwise tho
Got this video on my feed, it's a charging station 15 minute drive away.
And the main thing people in the comments were complaining about is the "old" tech in the cars and that Tesla is the future.
Should I tell them that the most sold car in Norway is a Tesla?
honestly fuck Tesla after the whole Elon fiasco
there are so many other EVs I'd sooner choose (if I was in the market for one now)
I wonder if the sales tanked in Norway like they did everywhere else after the Elon situation?
Nope
damn
Still #1 car
what are the reasons for such high EV adoption rates compared to other countries?
No sales tax on ev's under $50k
50% cheaper tolls, cheaper insurance and road tax. And a vast network of chargers. Is a few of the reasons
And fuel is around 8$ a gallon
yeah I just looked it up and apparently they've been consistently rewarding EV ownership for a while now
I save around 70% each month of fuel compared to a diesel of gasoline car.
Since January I've spent around 30$ in electricity for my car "I charge at work mostly"
it helps that Norway is a relatively rich country I guess
even a Model Y is not cheap though
the cheapest EV option here is the Fiat 500e, but they only sell the equivalent of the long range EU model
but for the same price you could have a much more practical hatchback
so nobody buys the 500e here
people still buy the Model Y here, but almost the same amount are buying the Ioniq, Chevrolet Equinox EV, or Kona EV
All EV's
damn they don't sell most of those over here in Canada
ive killed a set of discs and pads in 5000 miles as well as my front left tyre : |
Range is one of the reasons why these cars are cheap
And these are for new cars. The used marked is full of great deals from 3k for a 2016 leaf to 18k for a 2018 model s.
Found a 2013 model s with a 2018 battery and free supercharging for 11k
3k what currency is this now?
USD
ok because 3k CAD literally gets you a beater 2009 Civic with 200k km
the average car on the road here is apparently nearly 11 years old now
so 2009 is honestly not too bad
Average age of vehicles in Sweden. Motorcycle, normal cars, heavy trucks, light trucks, and busses.
Motorcycles (Yellow) have gone through the roof since mid-2000's. So the average age of those are real old.
And normal cars (Blue) are also increasing, but more so in the last 10 years.
I assume alot if those are mopeds as well that 16yo uses.
And maybe even moped cars are under that statistics
Maybe EPA aswell?
Not sure about that, actually. EPA's recently had rules changes so that they need to be inspected for roadworthyness. So many are off the road because of it.
Not sure about EPA since we don't have that in Norway. But the moped cars are registered as motorcycles/mopeds.
They got upped to 45kmh right?
Nor sure how old the moped cars are on average, tbh
There's still in talks about that. To change EPA's to a B1 license or something.
bomboclat
Wait, EPA is tractor right? I remember something about EPA tractors.
Yeah. A-Tractor.
As they are called here. But there are still modern cars converted to one so that their kids can get to/from school and stuff like that.
It's funny that this car is limited to 30kmh.
This is a common thing for 16-18 kids to have outside of the cities.
Yupp.
What you often see though are slammed Volvo's with literally zero suspension travel.
Stuff like this.
Burn it.
Even tho my farts travel faster than that thing it does not deserve to be on the road.
Same with these cars.
They have nothing to do on the road.
The unforgettable ad duel between BMW and Mercedes divided car enthusiasts. BMW highlighted speed, confidence, and boldness with the slogan "Speed Up To See Us" - meaning "Accelerate and see who's ahead."
Mercedes, in turn, gave a classy yet sharp response: "Get Free... Join the real world" - meaning "Join the real world, where freedom truly li...
That's a beater? I think many around here would call that a pretty good next car...
well compared to a 2016 Leaf...
I'd still rather take the Civic but hopefully you get my point
went looking for clean obs parts at the junkyard (found a nice rust free burban) and this was what one of them looked like
thing must have been hit by a damn train or smthn
my 92 Burban my parents sold to my uncle a decade ago is still alive, not to sure about well, but with a rotted exhaust no-one dares to cross my grandma when she drives it.
I fucking hate EGR and ECCIV systems rn.
Getting code 32 (EGR sensor fault) on the bronco, everything seems to be checking out ok and I've replaced almost every damn part of that fucking EGR system except the vacuum lines, which seem to be holding fine
Cant delete it because Cali and fuel milage
I hate this fuckass state
Hey guys. I have a 2005 jeep liberty sport. The engine is the 3.7L v6 if that matters for this. I’m looking for some new shocks. My suspensions starting to go. I don’t think it’s ever been replaced. It has 98k km on it. I don’t need a damn 10” lift kit or anything. Just new parts. I’m in Canada, and I’ve already looked at rock auto. But it ships from the us so shipping is 500+. I’ve checked the ct website and a few other places. I just don’t know exactly what I’m looking for if I need or a whole kit or what. Thanks.
If it's just shocks you're looking for, check your local Napa
If they dont have them in the back, they can usually have them the next day
@eager crow ^
I doubt it
That moment when your rental XC40 gets upgraded for a brand new toyota prada. And when i say brand new, i mean we had to help take all the plastic covers off the seats and shit kinda new
They are only limited to 30kmh but 15-18 year olds drive them.
Meanwhile in Sweden everyone keeps buying overpriced and outdated XC60 🥀
Norway is pretty much the only country where Tesla sales didn't tank.
Here Fiat 500e somehow cost around the same as Model 3 RWD.
This rich kids are now converting Model 3 to EPA tractors now 😭
Bruh
The real rich kids convert trucks, btw
I think I've maybe only seen a couple of new Land Cruisers on the roads so far
18 km on the clock, damn.
It ends up being nearly 40k CAD (after government rebates) if you don't want the base trim. For around that price you could buy a Honda HRV with AWD, Corolla Cross Hybrid, etc
Yeah no government rebates here anymore unless you are company car driver but its basically just company that buys/lease new cars anyways.
Yeah that's delivery miliage so brand new.
One man's outdated is another's proven design
Probably still cheaper then brand new moped car 🥀
Don't change what isn't broken?
I guess that reason just older people who have Volvo as company cars their whole working career. And just doen't bother looking what else you could get for same amount of money.
real
it's like how the CX-5 is selling well over here (2025) despite being on the same platform since 2017
Yeah we literally had to still take off the protective covers on the inside
Heck the screen protector thingy is still on the display 😂
shouldn't they have taken that off for you lol
People underestimate the price of a truck

"What if it flies through the window of an orphanage?"
The company that owns that has some of the fanciest trucks in Sweden.
There’s about two dozen of them where I live
Dude I was watching this with subtitles and no sound
thought it was kinda lame but at the end i'm cackling
that was f'ing hilarious
Dude it was funny throughout honestly
he reminds me of a guy I know
@compact grotto at the end with Rodney Bearing... I was losing it
I was on a call working an issue and I heard this shit in the background lol
but are they being registered to people or companies
because tesla does do some dodgy numbers stuff sometimes
Why's the SRS light on?
😃 ☝️
what does a fella need to do to hu. uuiii u
wtf
phone tweaking
what does a fella need to do to buy a new set of steelies for a modern car 😭
can’t find shit that will fitt raghh
the steelie for my spare looked like this..... so I got a normal aluminum one and stuck it in the undercarriage to corrode even more slowly, why buy another piece of steel to watch one rock chip and 20 years of salt turn into this.
just look up your bolt pattern? what car is this for?
Asking the real questions here
yeah i did lol very few people make a 17in 5x115 wheel, however i did find one lol
more just frusturated i can’t find a damn steel wheel lol
thank you thank you i love my broken phone screen
Sounds like an Insignia bolt pattern... You could get them in Europe with steelies
16" greatness
Or these 17" 'design' wheels .. they're like 5 spoke steelies with hubcaps to look like alloys
it is an insignia lol
badges buick but yeah
yall got 16’s over there? damn
anyways i ordered these and i’m picking up a set of lightly used studded snow tires tomorrow off marketplace
Looks like 1.5T only, but only on the base model which wasn't even available in 🇳🇱
Larger engines have 17" minimum (probably due to larger brakes)
yeah i was gonna say that on the ones we have over here ya have to have 17” minimum else the calipers won’t clear the wheel
Anyone drive a car recently?
Had one of the electric chargers drive past me, the “engine” speaker sounds like a wet fart
Fixing a deer strike
The core support was bent all the wah back to the distributor cap but now it has a new hood that even latches and opens
My insurance doesn't pay because it was a deer and not another driver
Im fixing it with junk yard parts
So really cheap
no more reagal or that's different car?
no now i have a newer regal that was my 2015 that i had for under a month, now i have my 18
o
i did end up finding some for some reason google was not being my friend when i was searching lmao
for my Golf I had a little bit of trouble finding used wheels in the size I needed for winter, but in the end I found alloys for cheaper than steel wheels
(sorry for bad crop lol, this was a very shitty picture)
snow tires acquired
basically brand new, the guys daughter used them for a month last year then got married and moved to arizona where there’s no snow and left these behind lol
150$
Damn that's a steal for new studded. I'm envious, I just paid close to 700€ for mine
I wound't dare putting tires directly on my upholstery
ended up putting a towel underneath them but tbh they need a good cleaning anyways, i’m looking for a good set of seat covers though lol
yeah they were originally posted for 200$ and I came in at 150 and got them, super surprised he was willing to drop the price lol
Just went to the mechanics to get a TPMS valve replaced, I get home... and find the mechanics phone on my rear wiper
I'm amazed I didn't loose it on the drive
why were they even putting their phone there to begin with lmao
Apparently he took a picture of my license plate to put in their computer .. and then he did something and put his phone there
Yeah idk
free phone
uhhh a volvo estate
Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, VW Golf, etc
I can't be the only one that actually sees no issue here.
The only reason why it's a "concern" is because it's china.
thats stupid so you buy 300 of them and then test them
sounds like typical council oversight tbh
depends how important you view a bus to be ig
They took 2 different brands of busses under the guise of testing them. In reality they tore them down.
One if them were a Dutch brand I believe.
They drove them into a cave that's blocked from signal and did some tests in there
It's not an issue with Chinese cars, but when it's busses it's a massive issue apparently.
Or what about Tesla and their cars, all if them actually have a remote control feature. Compared to these busses that can only be shut down. And not controlled while driving
VDL Berkhof?
might be ebusco they are focused on electric
No idea. They don't mention the 2nd brand
He now made a video from the charging station 5 minutes away from me.
Also, its no longer a shell station. Its now renamed to ST1
Thank god you didn’t trigger the rear wiper
adding some chargers I get but removing the primary fuel powering transportation for the next decade at least - that I don't.
Nah I've returned it, what am I going to do with his phone 😛
Yeah lol, also could've damaged my car then
28% of all cars on the road is EV's.
98% of all new cars registered are EV's.
I think it's not going to be a issue.
dude this is Norway, completely different world compared to North America
Ahh yeah there are some weird outliers.
I wouldn't say it's weird
I live in part of Canada with the most EVs, and even for me it's kind of weird to think about the difference in the culture around cars here
the ICE is not going anywhere any time soon over here
the US doesn't have the electric infrastructure, and where I live in Canada people are too broke for new EVs despite having the infrastructure for it
(at least if you live somewhere where you can charge at home, because barely any workplaces have chargers)
I find it funny how low China is considering how it is entirely impossible to build an EV without China.
honestly I think these AI numbers are probably outdated because China has been having an EV boom recently
2024 numbers
idk man I don't trust AI to find stuff
I am unsure about the other countries, but the Norway statistics are pretty close if not accurate
Honestly - I think we'd be fine if people bought the right EVs. There's no reason for > 100 mile range. EVs should be for going to work, the store, local stuff. Basically, cheap EVs to get around the city and then you have one ICE vehicle for the family to share for when you need to go any further than the city car can get you.
yeah people think they need way more range than they actually do
Oh i can only drive 200km, oh no what should i do!!!
You stop and charge for 20-45 minutes while grabbing a bite to eat or use the toilet.
It's not uncommon at all to want to drive 400km though, for example Montreal to Ottawa is 200km each way
yeah some EVs can get crazy range, I'm just saying how people are used to driving way further in north America for everything
like 100miles is not even enough to do Montreal/Ottawa I just realized
That's not a normal everyday drive for each person in a family to do separately.
Normal is less than 20 miles each way.
Mercedes has a model with WLTP of 792km (492miles)
it's not a normal everyday drive, no, but it's very common for people to do weekend trips to see family and whatnot
Exactly why I said every family should still have one ICE car.
Actually not too bad of a price for that Mercedes, starts at $50k
what model is this?
Have a 6 person SUV as a family car and then everyone has their little 90s Civics with 100 mile batteries.
Plus - small cars with small batteries = 20 to 80 percent in like 5 mins probably.
Many of the large battery models can charge with 200kw+
All newer models charge with 100+
There are some outliers, and those are the budget cars that are under 25k usd
Some if those only charge with 50-80kw.
Altho, those are theoretical maxes.
Different conditions and amount of used chargers impact the real speed you get
kWh is not a charging rate
🖕 😠 🖕
Im surprised you didn’t see it in the first place
I approached the car from the front, so I couldn't see the back
And while driving it was kinda obscured by the headrest
My i3 maxes out at like 50 kW.
But not having the fastest charging isn't a real issue for your daily life.
Have had my car for like 5 and a half months now, and have only fast charged it twice.
Once because I wanted to try it out.
Second time I had to do it to drive some meds to my niece, and the battery was at like 10% right as I were about to plug it in at home.
Didn't actually lose any time from charging either, since I didn't miss the ferry.
So would have arrived at the same time regardless
That is the most exact same reason the 3 times I've charged at a station.
I've had the car since the end of January.
I have had mine since the end of May.
that's crazy because the cheapest new car over here is around 25k (CAD, not USD)
Driven 7,500 km's and haven't even spent €200 on charging it up.
just for reference, 15 years ago the cheapest new car was 10k
I'm at 8500km so far. Roughly €0.004 per km.
Around 35€
Absolutely ruined.
Charging at home is 1.5 SEK/kWh. Not the cheapest, but far from bad.
And work, but that don't count 😄
At home I charge at 0.5 nok per kwh
That means for a full charge if my 35kwh battery it's around 17kr? Ish.
So €1.2 for 170km range.
A full tank of diesel is easily more than 50€
💡 For Comparison
To put this in perspective with your previous calculation (which was likely for an EV):
- Diesel car (this example): $0.100 USD per km (approx. 10 cents per km)
- Your calculation (EV?): $0.0046 USD per km (approx. 0.5 cents per km)
So I'm my case it's alot cheaper to have an ev that a diesel car
It's basically around €6 for a full charge from dead for me.
During mild weather then I can get almost 300 km's.
Well if you only are in the city EV's will always win against any diesel or gas fuel car but if you go outside the city many times and far away then it falls apart quick
If you are in a country that does not have an ev grid yea
most gas stations here have chargers also
All ours have chargers,
Based on the most recent figures from November 2025, there are a total of 31,945 publicly available charging points in Norway.
These are divided into two main types:
- Fast and Ultra-Fast Chargers (DC Charging):
- These are the fastest chargers you find along the major roads.
- Total: 10,990 charging points
- Fast Chargers (51-150 kW): 4,284
- Ultra-Fast Chargers (Over 151 kW): 6,706
- Normal Chargers (AC Charging):
- These are the most common chargers found in public parking areas, at shopping centers, and hotels (up to 22 kW).
- Total: 20,955 charging points
It's about the equivalent of $35 for a full charge on a model 3 long range in the UK 😅
£31-35
€36-41
Well in lithuania it sucks ass out of the city so yeah
at a motorway service station though right?
ridiculous what they'll charge
Here all public charges is 0.5€ per kw
All my local ones have 2-4, only exception is the local casino station. That place is bordering on a truck stop
Got a new car, I'll miss my 2018 sti but I've been loving this absolute little monster of a car
The one thing I hate about the Elantra N is the lack of the fancy cruise control. I mean if I'm gonna have two pedals in a modern car then it needs to have smart cruise.
Has been called ST1 in Sweden for ages already.
But its Mercedes to expect to add like 15k in options to get good spec.
Yeah better to look at 10-80% average speed then peak charging speeds.
Aka.
Station 1
Was only this year they started to remove all Shell branding despite having bought the Shell stations in 2010
St1 has been around longer than that though
Even in my area several Shell stations have disappeared. It is OK now
Still showing Shell advertising on
volvo 240 project
shit has been sitting in my garage for like 4 years now lol
2.3l NA automatic

113hp😎
That actually looks tasty
What's the end goal?
Not too bad
make it road legal :D
Far from the cheapest.
But it's what you would expect from a service station. Just actually nice foods.
possibly a daily til i find a car that doesnt drink as much fuel
Just put one of these on it.
I should explore the st1 stations here and see if they have the same offerings
But probably not, the grass is always greener in Sweden
I guess this is a franchise that ST1 uses. If you see PLOQ, then that's them.
Don't think we have any PLOQ in Finland 🙁
doesnt work in finland :(
i never understood bmw hype
i mean sure theyre good cars when they work :D
friend of mine has an E46 3l diesel
its all plastic under the hood
like all cars that are new
yeah true
you know like those cars the only oem parts are the engine block and frame?

B58 engine is probably one of the most reliable, strong high output engines on the market currently. The mechanical side of that gen BMW is solid. They don't really suffer with electrical faults. If your after something fun to drive, not bad on fuel (for a 3l 6cyl motor), and comfortable to daily it's hard to go past something from BMW with the b58 in
yeah i guess its a good engine on paper
its everything else bolted on it thats bad
i dont remember what engine it was from bmw that had a plastic impeller on the water pump for example
and the needlesly complex billions of useless censors, vacuum hoses and shit
the germans have a tendency to create problems for solutions XD
but i mean, if you love your car then love your car
im not gonna try to stop you
Cost cutting
Plastic Impeller on a water pump is a good thing. It's the plastic housing you don't want
Plastic replacing metal is only a problem if it's a problem. Often it's just an imagined problem.
No water pump lasts forever anyway, it's a service item on many engines
Its a big issue if it randomly stops pumping
There was a spate of water pumps, metal impellar in this case but the fit was poor so over time the impeller would become free on the shaft
By the time the temperature jump registers as there is no flow your engine is fucked
That's honestly a real nice looking vehicle. See lots of them. They seem like a solid EV.
They are! a tad expensive compared to other chinese EVs but a real good car. In EU they are starting to pop up more and more. U from EU?
Yeah, I am.
And the G9 are expensive because they are fighting against other premium brands. Essentially Model X, BMW X5, or the EQE. Stuff like that.
Indeed, indeed. Great car
they really do be over engineering basic things sometimes, like those BMWs that have a sensor for oil instead of a dip stick
This... This annoys me, just give me a bloody dipstick.
Although it's better then the r56 mini I had. Engines are common to burn oil (BMW stated 1l of oil per 1000miles was reasonable) that didn't have a level sensor... First you knew if you didn't check was low oil pressure

https://youtube.com/shorts/htEYSCGRccA?si=ENvNrkJ-FF20LfVr

There actually is a car with headlight fluid
That's very common nowadays its just BMW who started it for whatever reason.
That's why the N52 is the best
But maybe not the 2.5l...
I get the Miata back from the shop today, don’t know how much it’ll be but ik it blew way over budget because 3 of the 4 subframe bolts were stuck stuck

Welcome to the life of oldge.
The new Mercedes anti-paparazzi system 😂 #topgear #thegrandtour.
This is a comedy skit and should be treated as such, entertainment.
They let you take the car home both without paying the bill first but also not even seeing it??
here they always call if you agree to the price then they fix it
No it’s still there, better yet like 30 seconds after I sent that message he said the motor mounts were iffy and I might as well do them now. So I ordered some track/drift focused polyurethane mounts which was another $100
I just want it back because I wanna drive it lmao, I’ve had it almost a month and haven’t even put a mile on it yet, and we’re suppose to get snow this weekend so I won’t even have much time to drive it before it gets parked for the winter
I also want it back so I can redo the wiring

too much gear banging ripped the threads out of the rack for the L linkage on the 305, helicoiled and upgraded to bronze bushings. actually shifts nicely now.
4 months ago this car didn’t have an engine
Been sitting for 6 years can drive it around now
Restored the motor time for the rest of the car now
sick
That is sick as hell
My friends bought a cheap-ass 1989 rwd volvo in high school just to drift on back country roads in the winter
it was my first car
got back from a trip 4 months ago and finally found motivation to get it going again
it needs basically everything but pretty content with my progress
I have not even looked at it in 6 years so it's pretty much putting together someone elses project
got a better cam in it now so it's a little bit less of an anemic brick
yo that goes in the front, not the back
swedish air force lol
tractor motor good
also the hood is painted with chalkboard paint because I was stupid when I was 16
Your Volvo is missing a cylinder 😉
I still miss my E46.
Yes manual swapping a car that’s been sitting for 6 years and needs everything is a top priority
Give it a few years and I’ll do it
I actually bought a manual off a friend but I gotta drive to Maine for it
if it's been sitting 6 years, how old are those tires?
I don’t wanna talk about it
It does need everything
Yes I’m not driving it outside of the neighborhood rn
Winter is around the corner so I’m gonna get all the brakes and tires and exhaust and do it all in spring
what about any other rubber in the car, like seals/bushings and stuff
I restored the motor
suspension/steering bushings though? Idk
It’ll get there
I did look at everything
Car actually doesn’t have many miles in it most of the suspension is decent
Not much rust
damn there's like no rust
Whiteblocks are overrated
I’ve had like 3 of them lol
The replacement for this shaft came out of a boat motor lol
Every one I could find for the cars didn’t have the distributor gear cut in it
So I found this on a marine parts website and decided to try it out and it works lol
lol so many chrisfix vibes
Inner-outer marine engines tend to just be production on-road engines that the outdrive manufacturers just slap their name and the horsepower rating, along with some boat-specific exhaust manifolds and accessory drive on
Not particularly uncommon to see someone take like a 302 V8 from a boat and convert it over to a truck or car application
I think Volvo was doing their own boat powertrains for a while, not sure if they still are or not tho
Look, the FB20 engine is completely fine and has no problems at all. It's perfect. knocks on all the wood.
Those things probably have a headgasket replacement interval in the owners manual
Yes and no. If they were manufactured after 2010-2012 (depending on the model), they won't have the head gasket problems. Instead, they'll have oil burning or valve spring issues.
To my knowledge, Toyota + Fuji Heavy Industries have only announced this for certain model years of the Toyota 86 vehicle... even though the issue impacts the Toyota GR86, 86, Scion FR-S, and Subaru BRZ (because they're all built on extremely similar platforms.)
https://www.toyota.com.au/news/toyota-australia-recalls-86-vehicles-to-replace-engine-valve-springs
That said, some people don't want the recall performed because some dealerships have mechanics that have been known to not perform the swap correctly, then shirk any responsibility for an exploded engine after the fact. We need consumer protection laws.
https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143957
To my knowledge they're all the same car, Subaru makes them and then badge engineering does it's thing
I can tell from the brown that this car hasn't been looked after. Blame whoever didn't change them before, not the engine
Alex inflicting mental pain on me (from the latest ZTT)
the rav4's 3SGE is DOHC with a single cambelt gear, he says "it only has a single camshaft"
the 86/brz was FA20D not FB20 and the GR86 (and BRZ that goes with it) is the FA24D
suspension tuning and of course bumpers are different, and first gen got the intake upgrade at different times and the FRS is just the 86 badged for the american market while scion was a thing
don't know if they still do because of the amount of GR Yaris' and GRollas being built but they were assembling 86s in the GR factory
I'm aware; my messages were sent separately for a reason. SaviorSix's photo's look like they have a SubUwU with an FB20 engine, whereas the Toyota/Fuji "super sports cars" I referenced in my other message had FA series engines.
I see you've been to MTC (McLaren Technology Centre for all the people that do not know). Very nice. Did you buy a McLaren?
Sadly not, I work there🙂
F1 team or car manufacturing side?
very nice, sounds very exciting
For the F1 Team tho or the road / circuit cars or the Indy Team or what?
Road cars, so 720s,Senna,W1 etc.
very nice. They look so damn cool (and are also great cars)
It's certainly a cool place to work, very passionate people
I can only assume there would be
Is the 2,5l less reliable i thought they where about the same?
W1 holy shit
Lots of oil consumption issues on it due to poor oil control rings.
I guess no one told my Volvo 😢
I'm blaming the engine because the engineers thought putting screws next to the the frame and only give on or two inches of clearance was a good idea... Literally had to jack up the engine to get a little more clarence.
You knew what you were in for when buying a subaru
Not when I bought it. I bought it January 1st of 2019... The car I had before then was a 91 Buick Century and that car was easy to play with.
You bought a Subaru without knowing how Subarus are? Rip
Didn't realize I needed to study every car brand and engine before buying a car. Thanks for the tip I guess?
Point is, I'm learning and although frustrating, I did it.
I mean it is generally a smart idea to research a car at least a little bit before buying it
Every single Subaru has the same "problem" of having to either raise or drop the engine to access the valve covers
Well I didn't know. All this just reminds me why I don't talk cars with people because everyone seems to be know-it-all in the car community.
there's a difference between being a know-it-all and doing basic research before you buy something 💀
Subaru is the only one using boxer engines on regular cars, and that comes with some drawbacks for servicing them
Supposedly very easy to get the engine out of Subarus, might be easier to go down instead of up in case you have to do it again.
Isn't that the internet by and large though? Everything is black and white and everyone knows better than everyone else.
real
Yeah I was thinking it would be easier to pull the engine out when doing a clutch on one, 30 year old coolant hoses and stuff so didnt.
Yeah main HQ
Anybody in the market for a built 3 rotor?
not for 35 grand lmao
got the ole snow tires mounted and balanced last night, just in time for todays snow and ice lol
just paid off my Sierra 3500 so time to start looking at a new truck (I always get luxury trims and get a new one right when i pay it off on the 12 month lease for tax and insurance savings that come out to over $30K yearly)
is there anything actually better than the Sierra rn in the 1 ton category?
(RAMs are not better stock I have a RAM 3500 with the high output cummins on a SLT trim the Sierra out preforms it in every possible way)
so you just paid off a vehicle and want more car payments?
if you're buying a $100K vehicle its a LOT cheaper year over year for the first 8 years of vehicle ownership to just keep getting a new vehicle at the end of your car payments
esp because I always get the dealer to cover a year's worth of DEF and only get a 12 month lease every time
so I also save about $600 in DEF
im too rough on trucks to keep them for more than like 5 years usually lol (atleast as a daily driver)
so i never get to the point where insurance + yearly maintence is cheaper to do myself instead of keeping a car payment and having the dealer do it.
$600 in DEF, $11K in yearly maintenance, the rest is savings in insurance and taxes to have it on lease.
there is a MASSIVE reason you don't see many older dually trucks on the road they're almost always newer ones. they get beat to death when you actually use them as a truck and they cost a lot to maintain.
how is it 11K per year that's crazy
I usually put about 90K miles a year on whatever truck im using daily.
- since I plow I need to put winter oil in (i learned the hard way on my 2022 RAM 3500 you do actually need to do this)
damn someone who actually does work with their truck
my car doesn't even have 90K on the odometer
10 bottles of AC Delco Gold 15W-40 and 5 bottles of AC Delco 5W-40 costs roughly $790 lol
thats just the cost of oil 😭
not including both filters, a dpf replacement every 50K miles, DEF injectors every 60K
and the several other things any modern turbo diesel needs.
(yes I use mfg oil, thats how you get a vehicle to a million miles, I take care of litterally any vehicle I own very well, even if I no way intend to own it that long)
also this is the first I learn of switching oil types for winter
diesels need it pretty badly its horrible to cold start most of them on summer oil
every duramax I've owned only needs like 20 second warmup periods on winter oil they need several minutes on summer oil
I'm assuming it's just the cost of doing business then
yeah, its really stupid to keep them in service more than 4 years if you can avoid doing so
could they do that? yeah easily buisnesses take care of their fleets usually and could easily see 500K miles out of most diesel trucks
resale value drops after 4 years, maintence costs typically go up by about 40% yearly after 10 years.
ideal time for resale is 3 and a half years old
I never would've thought it was so expensive to maintain these trucks but all things considered it makes sense
I mean they start out at like $58K now on fleet trucks now and on consumer ones more like $80K
when i replaced all the F450s and F350s for my business with silverados it was $53K per truck on the 3500s and $57K on the 4500
it costs less to just buy new ones for fleets after a few years than it does to maintain them lol
the fleet ones exist for consumers but they're very hard to buy most dealerships WILL NOT under any circumsatnces sell them
its $64K now for basically the same thing (this is the L5Pv2 we have the L5Pv1)
We have to do the same with a few of our engines that are built on 2024 and 2025 ram 5500’s
Though only one is diesel
iirc theres like 4 oil blends the 6.7 HO in my 2022 has to run for specific stuff but I think theres only winter/summer on the SO right?
Essentially, yeah.
You COULD get particular and buy some fancy ass shit but no point normally
I just buy what the service manual names
We still run a different oil in the winter in our gassers
AC Delco Gold for my GM trucks, Lucas Synthetic for RAMs
But that’s just preference. Don’t really need to as much as a diesel
itll actually tear up diesels fairly bad if you're not block heating them and don't run the winter blend afiak
I know the MDs aren't as bad as the HDs are for shit like that though (factory detuned for reliability stuff unlike the HDs)
Was talking about gassers when I said didn’t matter as much
Three of our wildland engines are 6.4 hemi ram 5500’s and ones a Cummins
We did that after our previous fleet of all diesels left people stranded in bad spots due to going into Regen
diesel moment
diesels are NOT good if they're going out in the ass end of nowhere lol
Went into Regen in a box canyon when the fire shifted on them
Got sketchy so fuck that, back to gassers
Though our last diesel is emissions equipment deleted
diesels get better mileage, lifespans and a few other things at the cost of added complexity and less off road manuverability
I know deleting any of my GM trucks personal or fleet would come with a shitload of reliability issues
the L5Ps where the first actually built with emissions equipment in mind
We got a waiver since it’s a municipal governments vehicle
Otherwise we’d be getting fined out the ass
yeah i get that part
I don’t know, the Cummins in the hd rams seems to be more reliable without all the emissions crap on it
do they have a factory delete plate or nah?
cus that engine was designed over a decade ago and basically only built to have EGR and DPF
It exists, we had one fabbed in house by our mechanic
factory delete plates on the 6.7 only drop the DEF and DPF the EGR remains
You can order a kit from mopar for something like four grand that’s “everything you need to emissions delete”
Or you can just do it yourself
this isn't a full delete though
it keeps EGR and iirc on newer vehicles DPF too
I’d have to crawl under 554 again to look, but pretty sure ours is down to the equivalent of a straight pipe
yeah that has more removed than a factory delete then
Where the def tank sat is now a secondary fuel tank for the pump since it’s not pto driven
Makes it easy to fill up
all factory deletes and factory styled delete kits typically keep DPF and EGR nowadays
RAMs dropped DPF too for awhile and might still drop it
We stripped EVERYTHING out of it
And it’s run damn well since
Though I still prefer gas engines for the job
our hazardous waste 5500 has a factory delete (silverado 5500) keeps the EGR and we constantly get exhaust issues on it due to the missing DEF and DPF system despite being factory
that truck HAS to be deleted according to local regulations
There’s a connex behind our maintenance shop that’s just piles of parts we’ve removed from rigs over the years
We got a waiver so said fuck it. This document says we can do it so might as well go all in
causes nothing but constant pain
L5Ps have exhaust issues and typically will create exhaust leaks constantly if you delete them
“they all fell off”
More like got smashed a few times on water bars, tree stumps, the likes
i can deal with exhaust leaks versus dpf issues loll also don’t have l5p money rn
my lml blew up (typical)
I've never actually had DPF issues out of any of my GM trucks just following maintence procedure
i only had it on an upfitted LBZ (non factory DPF) that was upfitted to legally enter emissions 3 zones
I just like that I was able to get away with removing two of the three resonators, the cats and the stock muffler(exchange it for a flowmaster outlaw race series) on my personal rig legally
i haven’t personally (because they’ve all been deleted) but I know a couple people who have
have you done your grid heater yet (troill faic)
my buddy’s dad’s dmax refused to regen and that’s the moment i realized it had to go lol
cummins moment
actually if you have a 2025 you dont have the grid heater issues
they finally fixed it on the 2025s
Even our structure engines need block heaters in the winter and even still sometimes that’s not enough to keep em going in the weather we get here
thank you cummins for the suicidal bolt falling into my motor lol
block heaters are a must but my 6.5 detroit keeps eating them, i’ve had to put 1-2 in per year which is rough
unironically the only truck I've actually had to run the block heater on was my 2nd LML duramax
but it wasn't winterized
We had a day last winter where it hit -40F and below once you factored in the windchill.
Turns out, diesels don’t like when it’s 40 below zero
That was a cluster of a day
it only gets to like negative 25 in my area lol
Good old blizzard week
We don’t get below -15 often unless it’s windy.
As soon as the wind picks up it drops another twenty to forty degrees depending on the speed
gotta light a fire underneath the oilpan at that point
Hard to do that when you are driving
had to do that a couple times w the skytracks at work
winterization kits on the GM trucks have a heater for the oilpan lol
oh hell yeah w gm
they have heated EVERYTHING if theres a moving liquid since its designed to run down to negative 55 with one
if you ask nicely GM will do you up genuinely ANYTHING you want
it’s always an lml 💔
mine has died
This rig kinda did ok that day but we had to run the gas motor for the auxiliary pump to help keep heat in the engine bay
I thought it was a dumb design that it dumps exhaust from that little motor into the engine bay, but it kinda worked for the cold. Think that’s the only time we have used the pony motor
my first LML had a CP4 failure at 6 months old, they offered to either exchange it for a similar truck or service it I took the option of swapping for a LTZ that didnt have the winterization kit and was a crew cab instead of an extended cab
honestly a great upgrade lol
the second one got scrapped at 560K miles due to how badly rusted it was and went through 4 CP4 pumps and like 8 water pumps 😭
I had a factory crank somehow, but it killed just about every hard to swap pump several times over 😭
I’m still debating if I buy a diesel 2500 or a gas 2500 in the spring
I can get a factory winch in either
r u gonna tow or do a lot of high way driving?
yeah they’re quite possibly (definitely) the worst duramax to roll out of detroit
Mixed highway and logging roads
I'd get a diesel
Looking for something to use also around the ranch
yeah just get a diesel then imo
And for wildland with the department
if you're spending atleast like 40% of the time above 45 mph diesels are worth it for fuel cost savings
I think the winch on the Cummins 2500’s is a bit smaller capacity but I don’t know off the top my head.
Diesel is more expensive here
It’s about a dollar more a gallon than premium gas
yeah but diesels get better mileage all around but its about 1.5x the mileage of a gas between 45 and 70
if diesel is less than 1.5x the price of gas you save on fuel costs
I’m just looking to replace this rig since I’m no longer assigned this one
however maintanance costs are much higher so it all comes down sort of to towing
That one got decent mileage for being a gasser, even when towing our MRZR’s on the highway
Shame that rig got totaled last year
sometimes when I was speeding on backroads I'd get upto 60 mpg lol
Was a good crew rig
I was averaging like 25-29 highway though
My gasser 1500 averages 26 mpg highway thanks to the dumb eco mode crap it does
But when you step on the gas it makes happy v8 sounds
And you’re mileage tanks
oh I got upto 29 mpg with all the cso shit off
with it on I could easily do upto 40 lol
I will say I don’t like how short the gears are on the zf 8spd
Shifting up at 3k rpm’s seems like a sin
Needs to be closer to 7k
Get a gasser and save a ton of money. You'll need to be driving closer to 50,000km a year for that diesel to begin to make sense.
I'll just drop this here about that comparison. While the diesel gets better mileage, it ain't 1.5x the amount. 15-20%. And yet the fill up after just 100 milea still cost more due to the price difference.
TFL runs on Sinclair fuel and so should you. Download the Sinclair DINOPAY app and start saving as much as $0.10 or more per gallon on your next fill-up. ( https://www.sinclairoil.com/customers )

Then there is the GM version that matches the Powerstroke results.

I’m leaning towards a 2500 rebel
Yeah I'd just go gasser. Also if you're doing logging roads and off road stuff, the diesel is way way stiffer suspension! You'll feel it!
The rebel is a nice trim for off road.
Diesel is really only relevant when you are towing HEAVY often, and doing a lot of miles, 50,000/year+. That up front cost is no joke. And the maintenance on a diesel is a significant amount more than a gasser.
My father works construction and has a 2011 GMC with the 6.0L vortec engine. He's a 390,000km now, and that truck has essentially towed 90% of it's life ~6000lbs with tools and supplies for the jobs. He's kept up with the maintenance and it's running beautifully to this day. Nothing major has been needed yet. That thing will still roast the tires anytime. Anomaly? Doesn't seem so the more people I talk to. Those who have had issues typically don't keep up with regular maintenance and don't treat the vehicle well. When I worked in a dealership I saw many gas HD trucks with 350+ on them running just fine.
@woven dove hey odd question since you've got access to presumably higher trim rams
they have a secondary and primary USB C port right? If you use a type C to Type C cable with a laptop while the truck is in accessory and the radio is off does the radio become a second screen
I use that feature a LOT on my Sierra 3500 and I checked the order sheet it's not a optioned thing so this is presumably a standard feature
Its only $5K dif for the L8T vs the L5P (gas vs diesel)
The gas is usually supercharged or turbo charged the diesel is only turbo charged
Dafuq you on bro? In a 2500 it's a 6.4L hemi on the rebel
Also 350km is around 220 miles which is well below average for a gas truck
You mentioned a GMC I'm talking about the GMCs
My company has 2 turbo charged L8Ts
and the rest are supercharged
Oh that. On a 2500 isn't it the 6.6L?
Yeah L8T is the new gasser for 2023+
yeah with the 10 speed now which is very efficient. Almost matching the duramax
GMs gas and diesel preform VERY similar unless you get a GMC Denali or Denali Ultimate but the L5P diesel gets about 10 more mpg highway and like 4 more city
(the one in the Denali/Denali ultimate can be optioned to make 120 more HP for the L5P but no high output option for the L8T exists
Lol no way in hell the duramax getting that much more
Diesels always get better mileage
I've had mine jump up into the low 60s speeding on back roads with cylinder shut off on
you can hear it dropping to 4 cylinders when doing it
Vs the 6 speed I can see 30%. But not 10mpg which would be almost 75%more
Not arguing that. But they aren't getting crazy higher
the older 6.6L gas was better on fuel but isn't nearly as powerful
Its more like 10% at most
The L8T is horrible on fuel
Its like 19mpg real world highway
It's like 4 mpg more out of the Duramax city
the Duramax doesn't really stop having better mileage till the high 70s
- the Duramax has cylinder shut off neither of the 6.6L gas engines have
(that's the main reason it gets better mileage is it drops to 2 or 4 cylinders when it can)
If you turn off cylinder shut off it's something like 1 more mpg city 4 more highway it's not nearly as big of a dif
Prove it
I have yet to see any of the HD diesels with this.
nvm it's the rail shut off on the diesels it's AFM on the gassers
Didn't know the 6.6 gas got AFM
