Burn it with fire
Fuel canāt ignite when the spark plugs take orbit
I don't know what he expected
I kind of miss that shit from forums days
lol this is the first post he made after all this shit
Mint
throw it back in and pretend like you didnt see it
drown the knocking with heavy duty diesel oilk
correct
they don't usually do that in the late model tritons
Had to replace a bit of my charge pipe and holy shit thats alot of oil in there, replaced pipe anyway and pretended I didnt see anything
I have seen worse
Lol loser shit
I plugged in my charger in the garage, and turn it on. Instantly hear a lot of other EV's being load balanced.

What the horse doin'Āæ
Do a barrel roll!
hahahha
new car ?
Yes
Nice
tbh it drives way better than my old celica
i dont understand the french car hate
because a lot of em are quite unreliable esp the modern ones š
also cause theyre french
Ye
Idk whatās unreliable with them tho
All the electronics are German, itās made in Austria and has a bmw engine
mostly the electronics or the engines depending on the models
the electronics and engine kinda sucks depending on your luck
truke
Because they don't handle any abuse
The cheapest abused Toyota will outlive the best condition one
Okay maby
They're expensive cars that are now cheap for a reason
Meanwhile a good condition Celica in a good spec has been going up in price in some markets
my celicas engine began to rattle
Change the oil
Replace the timing chain tensioner
let me get the report
i took it to my uncles shop
2s
ill get the report
As we've previously established I don't trust your uncle lmao
yeye
Take it to a shop you have no connection to
Don't kill it and it's worth what you paid
yee
Despite the features of this engine it's very simple
Rattle is almost always the timing chain tensioner
yeah
The chain itself is fine unless you ignore the tensioner for too long
okok
Also unless something is weird where you are, the Toyota dealer is your friend. Parts are available and they're reasonably priced
idk why, but parts thats not german are hella expesnive in norway
@white heart you got your licence yet?
I am all for more good looking cars on the road
no š
im actively working toward it at least
Nice
Same
Starting to really enjoy the rubber creaking noise I get almost constantly in le Volvo now
My theory is engine mounts but there's plenty of rubber that it could be
Annoying
The Holden Special Vehicles Maloo (HSV Maloo), is a performance coupƩ utility vehicle produced by Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) from 1990 to 2017. As Holden's designated performance vehicle division HSV introduced the Maloo model in 1990, based on the Holden Utility (VG), offered with the 5.0-litre Holden V8 engine. Didnt think bonnet intrusion was still an issue
It hit a truck but no idea exactly how they hit it
I would hope the back
Edinburgh A90 M90 drivers are a different breed
Looks like a freak accident. Considering how even the roof is damaged.
Speaking of.
free hoodscoop
Aye, is there any information on la poste resuming shipments to the us, I'm waiting on an entire front end from n.skicomposite :((((((((((
Not happening any time soon unless trump stop being a dumbass
You think they will reach an agreement before the holiday shipping season or am I just straight fucked for a while?
Do I look like Donald Trump to be able to tell you that
Massive rip
Aye man, I just want my car parts, I don't partake in political shit
Lotta bullshit happening everywhere :)
Imma be fr a deal ain't happening we can't even keep our government up for more than a day lmao
Why did things have to fall apart when I was finally able to afford to finish my panels :(
That's so fucked, America is also shut down right now
My buddy in the military hasn't been paid for a week and a half
It's not a shutdown we just straight up got no government again
O h
Lasted a total of 12 hour
That's quite different from what's happening here
Yeah ik
That sucks man
Yeah, goodluck with your car
I'm just glad my car parts are the only thing being affected in my personal life atm
Could been a lot worse
But that's still a thousand dollars just randomly floating around somewhere
finally have an interior looking like a car interior
i couldnāt stand the tesla interior anymore
Still a bit of a gamer cave with that screen, but a lot nicer than a Tesla for sure. Especially the seats and doors look great
there is a big ass screen yeah
but at least it have carplay
i donāt need to pay for an extra subscription just to use the music app
Has no electronics, no bluetooth, MFPI, drive by cable, is 23 years old and engine has sometimes problems, sometimes not. Building soon a new exhaust in and better air inlet to hear the beautiful sound of 4 cylinders MPFI, 1.6. like the 4g-ae
Annyone want cinnamon chips ?
Yummy
The i3S isn't too bad either. But would like to have a more sporty seating position.
Favorite car
Look at that aero. Sick!
How much upforce that bih have
No idea how this plate got between the EGR and the intake police officer
Not like it worked before this tho
You could open a coal mine there
well I finally got the engine in my truck I am working on making engine mounts
its a 13b renesis going into a 2005 gmc canyon
Intresting combination, I guess it wont be doing much trucky stuff in the future?
no thats the point is a track toy I am going to switch to perif port rotor housings in the future and out a big turbo in it with all the room I have but first I just wanna get it running
oh truck stuff nah its going to mostly be track toy but still will also probaby be doing runs to salvage yard for parts for other projects once this is done
I am hoping I can get a late 80's 911 as a roller and work on that put a fun engine in that too maybe a 20B or 26B if I can get the money by then
That's some cool projects for sure, always nice to see a wankel in something unexpected
Mmhmm sadly I don't have any good prices of metal left to make engine mounts out of i have cardboard mocks of what I will make now at least so I know how much metal I need to buy and stuff
hell yeah my buddy has one of those and heās building a 5.3 ls as we speak
I thought about a 4.5 but i wanted something more unique
Is he doing body kit if so what one? I am not sure what one I am going to go for yet but I have found a couple wide body kits for offroading that look pretty good that I might try
Lol single cab nice mine is extended cab removing the back seats for a big sound system
nope i think heās staying stock for now, itās gonna get one at some point as itās getting turned into a prerunner of sorts once he saves the money for shocks n shit haha
hell yeah
guys i need advice
i have a $60k budget
first car
somthing sporty
electric if possible
A used non-working Fisker Ocean! You can maybe buy 3 for that price, then repair 1-2 of them with the spare parts of the others.
I mean how much are you wanting electric and like what kind of sporty quick light and nimble or like push you back in the seat power?
also how new are you wanting?
if you aren't sold 100% on electric the new nissan z is a good mix of power and good handling from what I can tell being built on the same platform as the 350 and 370zs with 400HP auto and manual options for those who want that and starting at under $50K its a solid ICE option
plus it looks so good in blue
you can also find them for under $40K sometimes which is nuts to me
yessi saw it on the highway
i can buy new
but also used after 2022
that sounds about good
because if i have th emoney to buy a nice used car
i might as well
noted the last generations of ice chargers are great but I would not recomend the new electric ones I have not heard anything good about them
I got a 2016 V6 and it is a lot of fun
but the new one's look really ugly to me and the fake engine sounds are kinda cringe ngl the fun of loud cars is that the sound is coming from the engine not speakers added afterwords
if you live in a shitty place donāt get a charger cuz itās gonna get stolen
a used 2022 taycan electric can be had for like 57k
i have zero idea if itās any good cuz idrk bout evs but itās sporty
i see
I just don't like the way evs drive they all sorta feel the same fast acceleration but lots of understeer
Based on what Linus has said. Do not own this car on a tight budget
I'm not even going to question how you have 60k for a first car
insurance is going to have their way with you
uhh
i work in the tech industrey
my company sponsors my ride to work
i either uber or take their customized bus
now i need a car tho
GF asked me to clear the codes out of her familyās truck so they might be able to get it past smog, turns around and throws 4 loss of communication codes that Iām pretty sure are all directly related to a failing transmission control module
Itās a ā01 Silverado 2500 LB7
Over 300k and has the scars to show both that and the fact that itās a farm truck
First pic is the codes that I originally cleared, 2nd is the ones that showed up after
The P0101 and 102 were fixed by cleaning the MAF, I donāt know why it was throwing both of those at the same time but it was
Not entirely sure what the P0236 is about, it hasnāt showed back up
I mean that's basically with all luxury cars, and especially Porsches
People think it stops after initial purchase, but that's exactly when the costs begin š
mmhmmm
i see
i got some really goood insurance deals
tho
Im finding my insurance giving me $900
per year
for the taycan
so like '$900 premium
a year
honestly i might jus get the nissan z
me who spend 2x the price on my car on parts alone š¤£
There's a Wikipedia discord with some car editors if y'all want to join and edit Wikipedia
What do y'all think of these spark plugs?
Weird situation. Cars 20 years old with only 94k km.
Wondering if I bother replacing them with my pre winter maintenance
I would check gap but I don't have a feeler gauge
replace and get a feeler gauge
might as well, plugs are cheap
Yeah not wrong, I'll grab a gauge next time I'm in the city
Looks fine, surface rusty
No obvious burning or buildup
Just get a plug gap tool
They're cheap and designed for the job
I need my bmw back so bad
The last one: "Your vehicle has ceased to exist or really lean"
a friend of mine was driving his shit with a cracked spark plug, and it was running somewhat decently lmao
the diode thing that sticks down broke and could slide up and down, heās insanely lucky it didnāt fall into the motor lol
Iām buying a 94 Miata this weekend to use as a drift car and Iām very excited
I paid money for this
It's so tragic my audi doesn't have the window sticker because I have literally every manual it came with when new
And the leather pouch they came in
istg why do people throw away the window stickers/build sheets when they buy a new car š iāve owned one car that had itās original sticker, and it was a shitty 2003 malibu
I've literally never had one
And I've owned 12 cars
better question is why don't they throw it out. Never heard of keeping such a thing here.... Not sure if they even exist here anymore
There was definitely no such thing with the parent's 2023 Yaris
These were mine after ~30k miles probably
So, just watching Linus' rant on the current crop of corporate bs that plagues the auto industry atm and I just have one correction. Android auto/Apple Carplay is still supported in Canada on GM vehicles including the 2026 model year vehicles. Turns out that most of our automotive news coming from the US is not a good thing.
its still an issue tho because that trend will most likely spread to over here as well
You know Oklahoma roadways are bad, when your dashcam's G-sensor thinks you got into a wreck multiple times within a few yd/km, when it's really just the shitty patchwork on the road.
LOL
better than tesla for sure
at least i can use the map app i want, music app i want etc
Some of y'all gotta stop using your phones on the road š
If you know then at least try to improve š
its rare now
because the phone is in my backpack now
but when i had the tesla it was awful i kept using my phone
I have to warn my mom everyday to not text while driving
I know it ain't really a car but it's got an engine so I think someone might be able to help, so basically, me and my friend are tryna get his bike started up, it's got a small little 50cc motor but all the cables that go to the spark plug and kill switch got unplugged and we don't know how to reconnect them
those engines are really simple just look up a wiring diagram
I did but the kill switch has red/yellow and green stiead of red and black
Do I just do the red/yellow as red and green as black?
kill switch is just a switch so it doesnt matter what collour those wires are
How do I know if my spark plug is sparking or not?
Does it fire when you spray fuel into the carb?
take it out put it against the block and turn it over
I've got a rip cord so that should be easy enough
Do I need to connect the kill switch or can I leave it for now?
if i remember it should run without it connected but just connect it
easy to turn off then
Thatās correct. All the kill wire does on these is pull the ignition coil to ground
This is as simple of a spark ignition system as it gets
So just put these in?
i had some mopeds that where the opposite, wasted a lot of time š
How visible will the spark be?
Tried and neither me or my friend saw sparks
I got a new spark plug which is what we are using right now
Here's the current wiring
Close up
Yeah we got nothin
Coil? I know absolutely nothing about engines
the black box that goes to the spark plug
Like this?
yes
Still not sparking
then something is broken
He had it running before a couple months ago
Could it be that this is dirty and rusted?
@dusk ocean https://www.reddit.com/r/CleetusMcFarland/comments/1o5zppw/grannas_carnage_from_the_grudge_race/
thats not supposed to be there
Yes, try spraying some rust remover, or put oil in it and leave overnight
Could also be that the metal piece that connects to the spark plug is loose from the cable
I couldn't tell if thats a billet block or just an epoxy filled stocker
if its the same general setup as it was back in 2021, it looks to be billet https://dsportmag.com/the-cars/features/grannas-racings-2100-whp-toyota-supra/
"billet wet block"
unless that means something else
well wet block might be not dry sumped
lost 15k and a engine
only had to keep his mouth shut
he was still trash talking after the second race...
he can't - he's intolerable
to be honest if that engine held together he was going to smoke cleeter
for sure
they way he pulled in 2nd/3rd was wild
My friend was holding the spark plug cable while we were tryna get it to spark and he said it shocked him
Lowkey might just be a lost cause
The spark plug is getting voltage but not alot
Holding HT leads will shock you, yes
damnit - fancontrol can't see the EF_FAN (DIMM) on Apex

This is f-ing great...am I a Bogan if I decide I love this?
Sit back and watch the EPIC final ten laps from the 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000. Matt Payne, James Golding, David Reynolds, and Cooper Murray put on a display for the ages in this epic finale for the Great Race!
The Repco Supercars Championship (formally Australian Touring Car Championship) is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one...
k so i eneded up getting an lyriq
i cant wait for it to arrive
honestly i hope ev doesnt have as many problems as gas
bc theeres no engine
Neato.
Got a home charger?
- I hope you got it at a steal of a price because their sales volumes have been non-existent. 2. I hope you got one after they sorted out the early build quality issues
Also I really really really hope you didnāt buy a brand new one, I hope you got like a low mileage used 2024 one
Instead you get increased tire wear and changing the brakes because they're falling apart from lack of use instead of normal wear.
uhh
i got a new one
i got it for like $60k with some upgrades
and yes i have a home charger
Rip, you couldāve bought a 1 year older model with 15k miles for half the price
They depreciate worse than Porsches and thatās saying something
Holy shit that's insane
Yea, at 35k I donāt think theyāre a bad deal either. Competes well with a model 3
I wouldnāt mind a model 3 as a commuter car if I had a place to charge it, then have a gas car or one of my motorcycles if I needed to go longer distances
Pick one up for like 20k or so
Or a hail damage one for like 12
Just a beater
But tbh I have a VW TDI wagon and itās hard for me to want anything else. Since itās a wagon that can tow and also get 40-50mpg
And since I removed all the emissions garbage itās reliable as can be. Already got her up to 220k miles
Fun fact with my cruise control set to 100mph I average 36mpg
Had one
Hated it
Well I had a Y but the issue wasn't with the specific model it was with Tesla's design ethos
I can't stand the screens
Or screen, I should say
i think these brakes can go another 1000 miles don't ya think?
yea but the new model y looks nice
Drove one, still hated it
4929 likes, 72 comments. āWeāve got quite a unique project taking place at The Shop currently, with this widebody Porsche 944 undergoing some work to fit a brand new engine ahead of the ā26 racing season. Any guesses as to whatās going to power this retro race car? You might be surprised š Stay tuned to see what will bring this race ...
Just don't stop. Ever.
new cars be like
is done guys, this daily piece of shit is finally how i want it to be
bat mirror covers are off too so im not no ricer nomore
just a clean daily
no
you'd be better off buying a old mercedes
they were built like indestructible tanks
You have to go quite old for that, which brings some inconveniences
it might but it's worth it
plus old mercedes have surprisingly modern features and conveniences so it's not that much of a trade off
the W220 made in 1999 had radar cruise control
not having a horn is fun, should probably fix that
just rust issues and I see these advanced features for the time as disadvantages when they end up broken
id maybe have a W124
i want a 190E as a project
Im looking for a new daily at the moment but I have exceptionally weird taste, if a decent W124 came up id probably go for it
Ive had an excessive amount of french cars trying to branch out again
Just convenient to stick with french stuff as I know everything about them for getting parts, swapping different engines in etc
Nice crack
Belzona will sort that out
God, hate drivers who don't comprehend the width of their vehicle
they did change lanes in behind me after so it was just a catastrophic lane change
quite common for people to start doing stupid shit to get into the lane they need here despite having half a mile to do so
Sorry to interrupt the convo but what would yall think of these wheels on this car. Plan on painting the car black eventually
Testbed vs deployed media stub
No, just no.
factory wheels of one brand on another always looks bad
What even is that car, I see a Toyota badge but I don't recognise it
CARS
Rims would probably look good, black less so, but whatever looks good to you

I plan on replacing the center caps š and my Lexus has Infiniti rims and it looks pretty good
Well I want to paint the car black just because not a big fan of tan/gold. so itāll be black paint silver wheels
Yeah I get that, champagne beige/tan/gold without gold or whatever they call it is a pretty boring color, but if you're repainting it anyway, why not make it a color instead of black?
Fair point Iām not sure Iād have to look at some of these cars in different colors and see which Iād like. Red would probably be one of the good colors on this car
Some countries have a better used car market
How my trailblazer has been acting emotionally lately.... Got the stuck spark plug out and put in a new coil pack, engine ran beautifully after getting rid of the stock 240,000+ mile og plugs only for another coil pack to go out two days later, so now I'm replacing all the coil packs................... it's an easy job but those suckers are an entire paycheck. š
Re painting my new wheels this is after filling the scratches and 2 light coats of primer
So thatās the before and after theyāre going to be silver again but thatās just the primer
Yeah going from conti ecs+ to a dot slick was crazy on my car
Ngl, old totoyas are fairly low maintenance
Just replacing fluids brakes and the 2 accessory belts on time.
And filter
Wth is this?
Meant to skirt around the rules.
Counts as a 'trike' in Germany, and allows 16 years old to drive them.
Gets a tune to decrease HP and limit top speed as well.
Not sure how it is with the rules around Europe.
Ellenator
you just have to have a A1 motorcycle license what you can get at 16 in germany
Dejavu.
2006 wintertires thats not to old
The EU is supposed to have the same rules for vehicles, but there's still a lot of differences. Not so sure one of those would be allowed in Finland, because if there's anything Finnish bureaucrats love it's to find the strictest interpretation of the rules and follow that. And then you go to Sweden and anything goes.
Well past 10 years they are probably about as hard as they are going to get already, so what difference does another 9 years make
Oh dear, I need to learn to use the reply feature
those tires are nearly old enough to vote š
is this the right way to advertise your car when getting rid of it
Only way it would be better is if you went over some jumps
it would be fine
retroshite moment
Ah yes his totally screams "never abused" /S
it is is abused and has been throughout my entire ownership but its not your typical old car which will throw all its toys out the pram because it got ragged a little
find it funny how worked up people get over a little wheelspin
this is what it was like a couple years back when I got it swapped the engine etc
so i'm building a air dam style front splitter and i ran out of plexi glass so im going to attach these extensions made from a plastic lid. (it's all getting sanded and painted so looks don't really matter.) but i need to curve the ends. any suggestions on how to do that symmetrically?
what vehicle is it on
Turbo in it. š
Yessir
Barra Turbo swap
We've been working towards this for a little while now, and with the help of Dandy Engines and Maxx Performance we've made over 1000rwhp on a budget with our Mazda MX5.
Street Machine Carnage is all about having fun with cars. Sometimes it's serious performance, sometimes it's crazy fun, but it always interesting and done on a budget.
If you ...
If I did go to a different engine entirely Iād just throw an aluminum 5.3 LS in it and call it a day
It's the easiest new six-cylinder to get to 1000hp
i have one out of an envoy š
oh was it one of yours?
Yeah got too many 305's so picked one to get rid of
Trying to keep all of my fleet active and not have bloody 5 of the same car
hehe I can certainly understand that aim
Did they pay phat stacks of dosh fer it?
I always assume they pick them up for pennies and make quite a bit on each sale
Not really he is generally paying a fair bit
I share a unit space so I see all the cars going through
You'll see me driving the cars in some videos
hes making money but still primarily daily drives my "free" impreza estate shed I used to own
Could have the best vehicle in the world instead, a Peugeot 305.
ok, so i daily drive a completely unreasonable money sink
but it's also a camper van in disguise
Paint on my new Infiniti g35 stocks is looking amazing
Also got my CAI installed on the car theyāre going on
Without any heat shielding, that's barely a "cold air" intake. It does sound pretty sick tho
I've been thinking about getting an intake for my Golf 7, but everyone online says it's basically only for the turbo noises
ah yes the hot air intake
Yeah lol donāt have the resources rn to route it into the fender like Iād like to
Yeah lol I donāt think they make any heatsheilds so Iād have to custom do one which I plan on doing that or just routing it into the fender
even if you leave it the way it is, I'm sure there's little to no difference in power
but more smiles per mile, or something like that
I just bought a momo steering wheel and I have no idea how to assemble it.
i don't mean the "putting it on the car" part, that's easy
what is there to assemble for a steering wheel?
i thought the same
Exactly the point lol I know enough about cars to know that just an intake doesnāt really do anything but I saw a video of my same engine with one and decided I needed mine to sound like that š
there's a padded piece that goes around the horn button that's held on to the retaining ring
what's throwing me off is this metal bit that seems to only fit the wrong way around
ah never mind i just needed to really jam it in there.
the plan for my Golf (eventuallyā¢) is to do an ecu tune, intake, and maybe downpipe and/or GTI exhaust retrofit
and, since I do winter drive it, maybe a skidplate
QC roads kinda suck on a good day
Nice yeah I might end up doing a skid plate as well just because Colorado roads suck and I plan on lowering the car a few inches. Then Iād like to mainly do a new exhaust since the superchargers for these are impossible to find. Maybe later on Iāll fab something custom as far as boost goes
my car isn't even lowered and my bumper can scrape on steep driveways if I'm not careful š
That sucks š
Both my cars are cruiser type cars so theyāre pretty dang high up stock
Iāve scrapped my Lexus a couple times just because the suspension is so spongy
yeah i completely ate a little rut in my buick at work cuz i park offroad at stock ride height, canāt wait to see what happens when my lowering springs show up
time to acquire a stop sign for a kickass skid plate
the only good thing is that I'm on stock tires with fat sidewalls so I don't have to worry about potholes too much
for now iām in the same boat, i have 17ās, but my plan is 20ās š
gonna have to avoid some michigan potholes
oh to have 15ās again
miss my old shitboxes w 15ās and cheappp tires
mine is āregular trafficā but there were nearly zero sold here in the u.s so itās not really regular lol
huh I don't think I've seen one of those here in canada either
ordered a tune and cold air intake for turbski noises, at some point next year itās going to get a zzp big wheel turbo
yeah itās a rebadged opel, idk if they sold them at all in canada, they sold like 20k in 3 years here in the u.s
wish i had the wagon version but this was a much better deal lol
theyāre all over rhe place here since most of the cars here in michigan are domestics, but theyāre just shitty crossovers
noice
had just regular steels before but they're not very straight anymore
I got new michelins at costco shortly after buying the car used, and it was pretty cheap
195s be like
ooo nice, iām looking to buy some michellin crossclimates when i get my new wheels
canāt decide on what wheels i want so iām riding on my china spec tires right now lmao
gah makes me miss my crv lol
I do actually have 2 sets of tires though because you need winter tires here
so I have dedicated summers and winters
yeah i should buy winter tires, really gotta have em here too
maybe iāll keep the oem wheels n use those in the winter, or sell em and buy steelies
also gotta get it undercoated lmao
would probably look nicer if i washed my car once in a while
defenders are cool but I don't know much about them
My solara has 16s stock the new wheels I got are 17s
Wanna do a meaty tire setup
Absolute mess and takes a lot of time but all of this to have sub 200$ wheels that look amazing is worth it
they're a parts bin special
huge improvement
my 2010 defender is literally a ford transit engine bolted to a mustang gearbox
and it came from the factory like this
interesting
my neighbors used to have a land rover discovery and it was always in the shop lol
oh yeah land rovers do that
like it was early-mid 2000s
great thing about the defender is that if you feel like something is wrong with it
it will happily drive for another 500km before it dies
sheared a few cams off the shaft + bent valves on a cylinder, but i was about 300km from what you could call civilization
made it no problem, no cylinder damage
damn
exploded the transfer case earlier this year, but still managed to drive it for a week while i was waiting for a new one
does anyone know if theres a way to connect EOBD cars to a Snap-On Triton scnaner?
this scanner won't read my 2007 imported RAM 3500 (originally sold in Germany if that matters)
I already have the 3rd gen RAM diesel scan toolkit installed. is there a seperate scan toolkit for euro vehicles?
it has the 3rd brake light if that matters too (dif electrically from a US model)
Yeah, this style is called short ram. Cold air would put the filter in the bumper and hopefully have a bypass valve around where the short ram intake is to ensure the engine doesn't gulp water from a puddle.
Are there no tires common to other vehicles of a similar circumferance and track width on a different rim size? If the tires are that hard to come by, it's sometimes cheaper to buy rims and tires where the rim is larger or smaller (when the brakes and other bits clear) than just the tires that only come from a couple vendors and are always special order.
I wonder if anyone's swapped in the LGX from the GS. Probably can't pull off the AWD too though. At least not without 'ruining' the inside.
ohhh no i was just commenting on how cheap 15ās are usually, but iām going to be buying either 18 or 20in wheels for it at skme point
maybe, thatād be pretty sweet, although thereās more power potential in the 2.0 ltg then the lgx
I think you mean cheaper power potential.
also the common failure points w the awd in these cars are the diffs so iām very glad i didnāt get an awd one lol
Because one could get custom beams and slugs made for the V6 and twin turbo it.
yes, and also just in terms of aftermarket support
thatās true
trans would definitely complain though lmao
one day i will buy the tourx
I wonder if one could slip the Commodore VXR in under the substantially similar clause.
Granted, it'd have like a 30% tarriff taked on now though.
They come with the V6 AWD.
shoot i bet ya could
i canāt imagine the price but that would be cool
just importing vxr parts is expensive lol
was looking at vxr wheels until i saw the import fees and shipping charges lol
Oh yeah it'd probably cost as much as the reagal when new. lmao
yeppp
Oh wait it's the RS-V not the VXR. VXR was liftback only.
oh right the vxr is the gs equivalent
gah i despise the base wheels which are what i have lmao
somethinf about them just looks off
theyāre not terrible but gah they could look so much better
hold on the tour-x is already AWD and the wiki can't be bothered to mention that!?!
You know, these are neat but they probably don't have the adaptive cruise I've grown to love so much on the Palisade.
they do!
mine doesnāt
but they do
just got my lyriq delivered!
it drives pretty good tbh
smooth
but at high speeds a bit less smooth
especially on the highway
You bought it without driving one?!?
crazy
fellow Golf mk7 owner š„
mine is the 7 facelift so I have LED tail lights from the factory, but mine are the dumb north american ones with the red turn signals
Yess
Rip
Too sad I have halogen front lights
mine are the halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights
probably gonna buy some better halogen bulbs though because it's pretty dim sometimes
Ah yeah those are fine
I want to change them to LED or xenon
Bi-xenon is ok but still halogen I believe
$300
yeah š thatās about all iād pay for it, dash is lit up like a christmas tree with 202,000 miles and half the shit donāt work
Classic corrosion from those Passat's.
Imo buying a new LED fixture isn't really worth it since they're really expensive
and swapping LED bulbs into a halogen fixture is a bad idea
also, Golf 7 and 7.5 headlight fixtures are not interchangeable
This yeah
I mean I highly doubt I will ever change them since its kinda makes no sense financially
Thought my sister's Vito was bad but this is next level
yeah like it would cost as much as a tune to get headlights lol
hereās a mazda i found a while back
god i love michigan and no inspections shit like that will blow your doors off on the highway lmao
These people must never wash their cars
itās unfortuanatly inevitable where i live but yeah some neglect for sure
the best way to stop rust is to park the nice car and drive a shitter for 5-6 months out of the year
Road salt?
yep
salt brine and just regular salt
the brine shit they spray is the worst it just pools everywheree
They like to put a lot of salt on the roads here too, but never seen anything that bad
Though that's probably due to the yearly inspections
for some stupid reason we canāt have studded tires here because theyāll āruin our already shitty roadsā (but semi trucks can weigh 146,000 pounds legally)
so they just dump oodles of salt
which also ruins the concrete/asphalt
Yep
that's the worst I've ever seen and I live in a pretty bad place for rust
iāve seen even worse on the roads š i live in the poorest county here in michigan so most everything on the road shouldnāt be on the road lmao
we don't have inspections here in Quebec, but if we did soo many cars would fail
Luckily they still haven't banned studded tires here, would suck to drive when the weather goes from freezing to thawing and back again. And semis can weigh up to 74000kg, 163 142.074 lbs google tells me
So our roads are quite shit
yuup same iād have one car out of my 10 that would pass š
i have a fleet of shit and one nice daily
we're legally required to have winter tires but nobody uses studs here, idek if they're legal or not
beater cars keep their winter tires all year round
my friend bought a shitbox with good winter tires and ruined them by driving all year with them š
yeahh they're a much softer compound so when it's over 7 degrees C they'll start to wear more quickly
yeah heās just dumb lmao
there are some all-season/all-weather tires now that are allowed in winter here, but an all season is never as good as a dedicated winter tire obviously
400$ car with a kickass set of michelin x-ice tires (brand new, too) and he was too cheap to but a summer set and theyāre bald as fuck now in under a year
got my radar detector today š
Make sure that it's actually legal to use one where you're using it.
guys does it get bigger when warm?
never mind, i just had to give it a good wiggle
went for the uncircumcized version. they had a US model as well
Usually does the trick
You want that skin to touch when the weather is cold. Otherwise there could be shrinkage
biblically accurate foreleather
it is legal here in michigan so we all good to go
_(\
Try asking what car they were used on before.
The layman doesn't know that stuff like 5x120 and similar is something.
Nice steelies though, apart from the rust
yeah i did lmao hopefully i get a response
yupp i really just wanted a cheap set of winter tires iāll probably just rattlecan them and call it good enough
LMAO
my obd port was missing, today i found it stuffed in a random place but one of the wires was cut. i think its the 12v, hope they didn't try powering a power hungry thing with it and burned the cable... will splice it an try when my obd scanner arrives
why would anyone do this š
i just hope it was a 3-wire setup and not missing any wires...
Drives like crap(semi sloppy steering) and has a consistent and extremely difficult to find air leak, but it has auto chains making it the main engine we use in the winter since itās also our only 4x4 structure engine.
had to look up auto tire chains because I had never heard of them, that's pretty cool
Uses the air system for the brakes. Push a button on the console, diverts air to a cylinder that pushes down a roller with chain flails off of it against the rear tires so the chains get spun under the tires and the wheels roll forward or backward
Even tire socks exist
Thatās a little different. You have to manually put those on the tires
Also those donāt seem to work too well in more than an inch or two of snow from what Iāve seen
Good AT tires will get you through close to sixteen inches of snow without a problem, but thatās pushing it. I normally put chains on my pickup around 14 inches of snow or more
I've got a set of socks for my truck, I'm kinda skeptical of them.
I do have a good set of ATs (Falken Wildpeaks) so the socks likely wont ever leave the package anyway
Iām on my fourth set of bfgoodrich ko2ās. They get alot of hate from people who use them mainly on pavement, but if you really are 50/50 pavement to dirt and gravel, theyāre great. Plus do well in deep snow and on ice
This is a typical week where I live in the winter.
Jealous, we donāt get snow anymore and it makes me sad
I miss getting like 3-4 feet overnight
We dont typically see more than a couple inches to a foot at my elevation.
Except for 2022, that was hell
We average 320+ inches of snow a winter up here.
Now weāre lucky if we get 3-4 inches a year
Makes it exciting when you get two feet in town overnight and all the tourists lose their minds and cant drive
These are both photos the city posted
This is during an average storm cycle in the winter
They have to run the big boy snowblower on the highway
It just gets cold here now, but no snow, very dry
Ah. Like big bear got
Couple years ago we had -60° windchills while there wasnāt a single inch of snow. Absolutely miserable
yeah those I've heard of
When they got screwed over by that storm
We had a day last winter where it was cold enough we couldnāt get any diesel to start and stay running, including our structure fire engines. Had to respond to a barn fire with two gas powered wildland engines
And those are stored inside in a heated apparatus bay
Gotta start a small fire under them. Also treat the fuck out of the diesel
Assuming block heaters werent plugged in?
The apparatus bays where all our engines are stored are kept at 65-70 degrees all winter. And the diesel is treated
Plus they had their battery tenders on as always
rigs started in the bays, but within twenty minutes of being outside they died
Jeez
Was a problem with all three fire departments in the county that day
2 jump packs daisy chained and a can of ether can do a lot
Didnāt work well on this rig and this oneās the best in cold weather
Left it on the roadside and had to pick it up the next day
It wouldnt even stay running under throttle?
It would start to bog down.
Which was the same issue other departments reported. Just a weird problem that didnāt make sense
But the two gas version of this were running albeit cold
Active grill shutters were a lifesaver
What was the temp that day?
Even if diesel fuel is treated it can get thick in the cold and the pumps can start cavitating, causing them to now flow as much as the computer thinks they are and confusing it
-45-55 with the windchill
Weād gotten 28 inches overnight and the wind was brutal. 30 mph sustained gusts of up to 70
All of a sudden Iām kinda glad I donāt live in your area
Hey, we get a shit ton of snow though. Almost every day is a powder day if you ski or snowboard
All it took was 20 minutes out of the heated bays for things to start dying
I havenāt done either in years lol.
Makes me wish my sled hadnāt blown up though
Oof
A little hack for treating diesel thatās better than off the shelf additives is adding a gallon of gasoline to a full tank of truck diesel, then a quart of ATF to keep the injection pumps happy
Might need to consider tamk heaters at that point
Unfortunately that would violate the nfpa rules for appartus as it currently stands
Oof
Something about having a heat source directly on the fuel supply or something?
Yeah.
Understandable reason, but as we were talking about can cripple trucks in very cold weather
Yeah
yooo you want another brush truck?
i think iām gonna buy it lol itās 2500$
No.
Think weāll pass. All three of ours are 2025 ram 5500 cab and chassis builds
Donāt think Iāll ever get approval to buy another rig until we kill one of ours
Semi volunteer with a few folks who are on staff like leadership
We only could afford the three new brush trucks at once because of grants
We also have access to a snowcat though through one of the businesses in our district
So thatās fun.
Big toy
ooooh nice!!
our local department just got a ānewā brush truck, itās a 2016 chevy lmao
Weād planned on buying one or two used rigs since all of our structure rigs we bought used when the department was founded two years ago, but we got the grants and after confirming the terms allowed it, bought the three brand new wildland rigs
@deep zealot fucking mopar wont start, had to use this fucking thing. Even while using the jumpers from my trailblazer.
Just keep in mind that's just a battery charger. Not meant to be used as a booster to start a vehicle.
Since it only gives you 2/6 Amps.
I know
The 25A charger doesnt want to charge this fucking shitpar
How olds the battery?
Old
I got myself one of those booster batteries that I can keep with me. Have already gotten used a couple of times.
Battery could just be DEAD.
Not even they were able to get this shitpar started
Yeah what Iām thinking
Did they have a safety bypass thing?
Where they send power even if it doesn't detect a battery
Yes
F
Never buying another fucking mopar
So you have a known good battery you can swap with it?
No
My dad is just buying a new batt
Iāve owned a few mopar vehicles. Never had issues with them and I abuse the hell out of em.
I believe this is the one I got.
Those lack capacity
Have worked good enough for me. tbh
Do your family/you own 4 vehicles?
Would be nice to have something that did 12/24 Volts, though.
Iāve used one to start an extremely dead commercial chassis vehicle
Nah. But they can usually start 4+ vehicles. And you can easily charge between uses.
One that had four batteryās rigged up together on the battery tray
And one of those still was able to get it started
We had one of those for the trucks.
We relied on it for a few weeks with one of our engines
@woven dove this fucking 15 year old mopar with only 100k km's on it already gets engine knock on a cold start. its not even the hemi either so that shouldn't be happening
More or less what we had.
Iām on my third hemi ram. All but this one Iāve gotten to 300k miles or more. Iām only at 110k miles on this one
Two chonkers 12V batteries that could be used with 12 and 24 volt.
im going back to ford and GM
My 2010 lasted til 400k miles before it got totaled
And I abuse my pickups heavily
The dings tell stories.
my 2002 gmc sierra (that i've since sold) had no issues other than rust, and a bad abs sensor
body had 320k km's on it
Sounds like you just had a lemon of whatever mopar car youāve got
its a 2010 cryingslur 300
I mean my old f250 is still running, but the things had more issues than my last three vehicles combined
im sticking with gm and ford
i worked landscaping and i personally had two ram 5500 trucks transmissions go out so i canāt say iād ever buy mopar
also my moms van and dadās new grand cherokee has been a royal pain in the ass
the ford has smt like 250k km on it, and has never had a trans issue or engine issue. only major issue was because we didnt have a trans cooler
I might just be lucky then. Our wildland engines are ram 5500ās, and at my last job we had one on the original transmission and engine that hit 350k miles. And the three rams Iāve owned all havenāt had transmission or engine issues.
iāve had my share of issues with gm and ford too just mopar seems to take the cake
the trans cooler was needed because we use the truck for towing a 8500lb trailer through the bc mountains
bc mountains are a pain
honestly probably depends on what motor is in it, and what youāre towing. ours had the 6.4 and we were hauling a dump bed and dump trailer full of rocks both times the trans shat the bed
Our current engines are 6.4ās and always have a full tank of water and foam plus all the other crap we have to have on them. Used heavily on shitty logging roads
The one at my previous employer had the 6.4 as well and was used in the same conditions
We drove it across the country a few times in one summer for incidents
@woven dove the funny thing about the mountains where i live, is that there's some areas that have 27% grades
Weāve got those here too
how many meters/feet of elevation though?
i live in northern michigan so everythings flat as hell besides random rolling hills here and there
Highest peak on our district that has a road to the summit is 8,600 feet
Start of the road is at 3,800 feet
is that a major highway though?
Logging road
If youāre in the states, thatās unlikely since the highest āallowedā grade on a U.S. highway is 7% in mountains
im canadian
Ah thatād do it.
We do have a two mile stretch of state highway thatās about 26% grade
But few people drive it
Most people take the bypass which just switchbacks up the hill
this is what its like
I know the coq lol.
Driven it before
its a good stress test for cars /hj
We took our engine on it a few years back headed to Alberta for wildland fire assistance
Was. Exciting?
the one time my dad and i put e85 in the f150 when we were towing the trailer, we didn't have a single issue
when i was 12, my mom took me to the okanagan in my dad's 2000 celica gt-s. she averaged 160km/h on the coq
fun, but also scary as fuck
Steepest grade on the coq is only 14% though?
Still confused on where the 27% is
i might be thinking of somewhere else, or misremembering entirely
yeah
i was misremembering
@woven dove my apologies
All good. I was just confused trying to picture that in my head lol
i was thinking of new west
fucking teriffying trying to park when its raining on some of those streets
not fun in a heavy rwd sedan
and its not a 27%
but still not fun
real
:3
No, not even close
yay! the check engine light was just the oxygen sensor. no issues...
and it was cleaned by the previous owner like 1.5 years ago when it failed emissions tests, then it passed. so problem should be fixed already. they just didn't clear the codes. obd port was missing...
Do ya think a 2007 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI is decent for a highway only car?
So radios and car accessories arent "cars"?
An accessory, by definition, is an accessory TO whatever itās an accessory for. Not the item
So looking forward to driving for 18-20 hours straight tomorrow
Still stuckā¦
Call highway patrol
Anyone got a suggestion for a good Android Auto double din radio with physical buttons? Preferably with a radio antenna plugin as well
Dynavin D9, there's car specific versions of it too which look great at least in a BMW E46
My Pajero is dying lmao
A freshly rebuilt one doesn't count
a few friends of mine have them cant say anything bad about them tbh, and they abuse the hell out of them
It feels wrong overtaking a mustang with a 2001 1.3 vtt Totoya yaris
mine isn't dying
just fixing up its aircon to my local mechanic
Well, it will still be hell until monday.
Yesterday it took 93 minutes to drive 12miles/18km home. Normally it takes 24min

Hire a helicopter?
Or buy a motorcycle.
10 more days until my motorcycle road exam.
Get in the chopper?
Hornet 750 as learning mc, although wanna buy Interceptor 650 or XSR 700 next year
my driving school had a Yaris and it was honestly pretty decent to drive
Well, at least it passed Quebec City. ā
imagine how good the chinese products would be if they paid workersand just tried to make quality stuff in general
china has mastered industrial production
they totally can make products of amazing quality
they just prioritize cheap mass produced products
if you order stuff from china thats as expensive as domestic products its quality can actually be really impressive
like my billet block turbo muffler delete
there's a bunch of stuff we genuinely cannot even mass produce too
it's pretty crazy to think about
The manufacturing and the people working are not the problem. It's people designing cheap garbage and having it made as cheaply as possible
china is very capable of making something good if you want them to
most of the stuff on lttstore.com is either fully or partially made in china.... It's all good.
Except the backpack bottom layer issue from someone at the manufacturer deleting it because they thought it was an error and didn't think to ask
Get a Mazda or Toyota if you want reliability
<@&750150305383186585>
careful with new toyota their not as reliable anymore
Buncha BS
They're perfectly fine
Source:
Well a new car can't really have a proven reliability, since it's new
new as in anything from the past 10-ish years
i disagree with that statement, there are several class action lawsuits as a result of new cars with immediate reliability concerns such as the nissan altima CVTs
however cars such as the new toyota hilux champ are known to be reliable from launch due to the chassis history and design simplicity
toyota issued two major recalls this year on the tacoma, sequoia, and tundra models of over 400k cars and wheel detachment problems on their electric suvs
Yeah you're probably right, I just get the inherent need to disagree when someone makes a blanket statement about x-brand being reliable or not, as it tends to vary a lot from model to model
Ah yes warm tips, love parts from china
yeah that's true but in my opinion there is a trend with certain brands where old models that were reliable become unreliable and vice versa
new car pmo
fuel filter clogged driving it back from seller leaving me with about 6hp, had to basically gravity drive the last 20 miles
I had to take a longer way around as well so I could avoid the roads with a steep incline as it literally wouldnt have made it up heh
BYD, one of Chinaās leading electric vehicle manufacturers, is facing increasing scrutiny over its "Tofu-Dreg" car quality. In this video, we dive deep into the real-world issues that buyers have been facing, from rusting engines to dangerous system failures.
Owner complaints reveal a pattern of malfunctions in models like the Denza D9, with ...
wtf is this clickbait video
itās entirely ai generated lmao
This looks more like a Chinese Domestic Market issue than anything else.
This also.
half of the clips arenāt even related to the car lol
iāve not heard great things about chinese low cost evās but ffs that video doesnāt really prove that lol
we must teach the ai all about china
before china develops an ai to do the same
If you feed it shit.
Then it will only produce shit.
Ain't nothing wrong with Chinese products as long as they pay for a certain quality standard.
their build environment is toxic
Which is honestly the big issue.
Customers want it fast and cheap. But not good.
i have a honda delsol that has pretty much no rust underneath
arent those notorious for rust?
yeah i mean any 30 year old car in a salty environment will rot lol but delsols do get pretty bad
It's a lot where you are located and how it's treated. Here an old Honda can rust to hell and back in 5 years.
My first thought is Passat. Those had a generation where it was super common for them to rust out here.
mintyy
If you squint, it's mint!
shoot iād drive it šš
50hp is ehhhhhh time to find a MX5 to kill for it
Nice. The rust is problematic around the seals and the rear quarters. Mine has fist size holes. š
Rust is just a concept
sadly so is compression in 3 of the cylinders - and the seals on the clutch/brake cylinders. I really should just give up and let someone tow it out of the back yard while I still might not have to pay them.
I've owned it for like 22 years tho. Hard to let go.
just acquired these for my Golf (will be using them as my winter set) for a steal of $20 CAD/rim
I can't tell if it's even an EV
or Chinese
50hp is a lot for a light car
Every brand has duds with new models, how it happened and how it's handled is what matters, a recall means they're fixing it.
A lot of times these issues only affect a small number but they're not sure so they check every car
like the engines specifically from the Alabama plant not being cleaned properly
Once they figured out that was the issue, it was fixed and engines were replaced
And that's pretty much the extent of their issues in recent years lol
Meanwhile everyone I personally know that's either made the mistake of buying a new ford or had one as a work vehicle has had it go back to the dealer multiple times, often for the same issue not being fixed properly
You forget about the transmission issues as well?
Also problems with the ADD in the front diff on the new Tacoma's is well documented.
Idk about taco specific issues other than the engine as I'm not American
I find a lot of these issues are people using 4 High instead of 4 Low while off road though. Just because the engine has the low end torque is doing it in 4 High does not mean you should be using it.
That is a ton of additional stress on the drivetrain that simply does not need to be there. If you are off road, and not going over 60kmh, put it in 4 Low for God sakes!
There is a transmission bulletin for the Sequoia and tundra for sure. I think 280k affected if memory serves correct.
The Front Diff affected early models of these Taco
Yeahhhhh Minor issues are often worsened by idiots that don't know how to drive properly
Like people calling the 1KD bad because they abuse it and then have it tuned and expect it to not blow up
The pistons don't crack in the stock engines without some serious abuse
Yeah a lot of times I see people with issues on their vehicles and then I see them drive. Its clear the issue is the driver.
Watching many reviewers drive a manual transmission frustrates me beyond belief these days. Revving the piss out of it and slipping the clutch like crazy at every stop. Like PLEEEAAASE stop driving a manual, or get some education on how! Then they wonder why their clutches are failing on almost every manual transmission they buy.
Funny thing with the front diff in the 7th gen Hilux, if you don't put it in 4wd for a while the actuator takes a while to figure out life again. There's always weird quirks in 4wd systems
Toyota has often had a difficult system to actually engage 4WD. Needs to be perfectly level if you're stopped. Otherwise need to roll a bit and turn the wheels.
Fords engagement is rather impressive in the latest models.
Both for lockers and 4WD and sway bar disconnect.
because they keep it relatively simple, including having to make sure it's aligned properly
Sometimes that's a pain in the ass though if you're in a sticky situation
Sometimes its fun to do the 2WD challenge and see how far you can get without engaging 4WD.
Unless you've got ages without engaging it, it's only ever needed a slight movement to engage it
Much better than the manual hubs of the first gen surf dad once had
Living on the equator you may go a long time at times lol
Skill issue
