pita to get the old one off

compact grotto
#

Personal thing, i'd rather it be body color but the design is perfect

dusk ocean
#

yeah this car has a bunch of CF on it so it works

#

cf mirrors cf lip, cf rear wing, cf diffuser

compact grotto
#

yeah ok that makes sense then, sick

dusk ocean
#

had to do the old heatgun + fishing line trick

compact grotto
#

does a bunch of grime get under there? like under the old one?

dusk ocean
#

not as bad as I expected

#

granted i drive like 1000 miles a year and its garage kept

compact grotto
#

yeah true lol

dusk ocean
#

the genuine BMW CF parts are flawless

#

but the M Performance CF wing is lame, i like the high kick style

@stoic ledge Do you have any issues with wet grip with the goodyear tires? Reading some reviews that the sidewall is too soft and not much grip on wet.

stoic ledge
#

No issues for me, no

#

I do have quite flat tires (225/40R18)

#

Maybe that helps

prisma frost
#

I have 205/55R16

#

So quite the difference

prisma frost
stoic ledge
#

I would get them both again, I chose the Goodyears on mine because I had such a great deal on it, any other tire wouldn't make any sense (free install + cashback) (and the Continental AS2 didn't exist yet)

Chose the Continental's on the Karoq as according to TyreReview they had a longer lifespan, and as that size was expensive AF for all it made more sense to me

#

But on the Astra, very happy with the Goodyears, 0 complaints

prisma frost
#

Will probably get the Continental though

#

But I highly doubt you’d notice a difference between both

Great color

lone fern

ordered a cold air intake, a trifecta tune and when the turbo goes a ways down the line it’ll get a zzp big turbo kit as well as a catless downpipe

stoic ledge

Yeah it's emerald green I think?

lone fern
lone fern
stoic ledge

Probably US just calling it differently 😛

#

Looks quite base without automatic HVAC, PDC front, no LED headlights

#

Would never exist in Europe with the 2.0T KEKW

lone fern

I don't mind it

stoic ledge
#

Ah meh don't think I've ever heard about those failing

#

Literally ✨ camera ✨

lone fern
#

probably wouldn’f be an issue i’m just paranoid and hate electronics lol

#

however it’s really not terrible in terms of being able to work on it myself, the turbo is nice and accessible and everything else is straightforward

#

parts over here are a bit more of a struggle to find because they didn’t sell many

#

rockauto is the best for that lol

stoic ledge
#

It's a random 2.0T they threw in Everything in the US

#

Parts should be easily available xP

#

In Europe it's quite a rare engine

lone fern
#

yall didn’t get many 2.0t’s? what were they over there?

stoic ledge
#

In NL mostly 1.5T, maybe 1.6T

Other countries like Germany also quite some diesels (1.6 CDTI or 2.0 CDTI)

#

I wanted to get one, preferably 1.6T, but if the right spec came by I'd also consider the 1.5T

#

While I really like how they look I don't think it'll be worth the upgrade from my current Astra

#

Especially since I don't need the initial space

lone fern
#

also I would kill for a diesel version of this car my daily commute is built for a diesel but we have nothing but shit for diesel cars here

#

hard enough to buy a sedan or hatchback over here much less a diesel one

stoic ledge
#

140 or 165hp in Europe

lone fern
#

gotcha

stoic ledge
#

165hp just holds the max torque longer

lone fern
#

I was going to buy a malibu with a 1.5 but honestly they’re built like shit and the 2.0t seems to be much sturdier

#

also the buick is just put together better in general, and wasn’t built entirely to be cheap

stoic ledge
#

Yeah the Insignia/Regal is quite a well engineered and assembled car

#

Idk if the US Spec was also assembled in Europe

lone fern

i think the one recall for it was that the rear seatbelt buckles sometimes came backwards lmao

I'm confident my audi can do 200k

Id just cover my own shit despite us having fault insurance here its just not worth the hassle imo

But I'll be sitting under four digits for a while

dusk ocean

wispy cloak

Oversized for these is just the corners

#

9mm to 11mm if I remember right

dusk ocean
#

wispy cloak
#

The corners are puny

#

I should be safe though

#

I'm sitting at around 750-800 wheel

dusk ocean
#

thats what i run on 93

wispy cloak
#

I'm e85 only currently

#

Next thing I want to do is go flex fuel

dusk ocean
#

93 octane no alcohol injection i did like 780 rwhp

wispy cloak

I dynoed at 707whp with a fueling issue on a dyno with no eddy brake

#

I need to retest

dusk ocean
#

i have subtle wheels/tires and then kill mode tires

wispy cloak
#

And it's pretty quiet until the wastegate opens

dusk ocean
#

yeah mine isn't lol

#

4" turbo back

wispy cloak
#

I have a full 3.5" turbo back but I have a full muffler

#

And a resonator that I need to install

dusk ocean
#

i have a muffler but 4" straight thru doesn't do a whole lot

#

and then twin 46mm gates that dump

#

kind of gives it away

wispy cloak
#

I still haven't found a hellcat that's willing to race me

#

I know the result but I just want to say I've done it

wispy cloak
#

I'm thinking about trying them after this set of nittos

#

I was on an et street r but I wanted tread for power tour so I switched to an NT555RII

dusk ocean
#

they run very, very wide

#

granted that's a 15"

I wish I could just do a few pulls instead of renting for hours

dusk ocean
#

i wish i could rent it for a few days 😉

wispy cloak
#

My car is remote tuned so I really don't get any benefit from it besides having a number

dusk ocean
#

yeah thats not for me

wispy cloak
#

I want to learn how to tune but there's too much risk on this car

#

I need something cheap and junk

dusk ocean
#

lol try on a $50k built engine 😉

#

it just makes it more fun

wispy cloak
#

I'd probably be out like $10000 on mine

#

Not nearly as much

#

But still money

dusk ocean
#

Yeah I have pistons, rods, head, inconel valves, titanium valve train, etc. - its stressful, but fun

#

like $3500 turbo, $6k clutch

wispy cloak
#

I have a full bottom end but nearly stock head

dusk ocean
#

billet intake, all that whack shit

wispy cloak
#

I could reuse a lot of my parts

dusk ocean
#

depends on where shit comes apart lol

#

I build "debored" S52s

wispy cloak
#

I want to build my head soonish because I want to try for 9000rpm

dusk ocean
#

so from 86.4mm bore to 84.5

#

the head isn't keeping you from 9,000 RPM the crank is

#

inline 6 harmonics are terrible

#

I have an ATI balancer and I won't take it over 7800-8000

wispy cloak
#

My bottom end is carrillo so I have faith

dusk ocean
#

has nothing to do with it

#

I have arrow/wiseco and blueprinted

#

harmonics are terrible on BMW engines - especially aluminum blocks

wispy cloak
#

I think I could get to 8500

dusk ocean
#

once

#

lol

wispy cloak
#

9000 might be a stretch

dusk ocean
#

There's also nothing happening up there

wispy cloak
#

I can do 8000 currently

wispy cloak
#

But it sounds crazy

dusk ocean
#

Especially once all the pieces hit the windshield

wispy cloak
#

I don't know why it appeals to me

dusk ocean
#

the stock n5x harmonic balancer is basically the same used on mid 80s engines

wispy cloak
#

I hope people keep hating n54s so prices stay down

dusk ocean
#

If you are running 7500 RPM on an N54 you should put on an ATI balancer

#

Well so long as they keep shifting the bores, they'll be hated on lol

wispy cloak
#

I have a pinned crankhub and aftermarket balancer

wispy cloak
dusk ocean
#

I've owned them, over it

wispy cloak
#

High pressure fuel systems and stock turbos

#

If I had b58 money then I'd have a b58 car

dusk ocean
#

I have two N55 cars after an N54 nightmare

#

I build my own shit I have no reason to hate

#

N55 is just worlds nicer

#

Currently have 2 N55s and a B58

#

and then 3 S52s

wispy cloak
#

I usually build my own but I basically stole this car

#

$18000 for a 93k mile e92 with a speedtech top mount, built bottom end, twin disc xclutch, and built 8.8

#

I couldn't pass it up

dusk ocean
#

word

wispy cloak
#

I do really want to finish my dakota though

#

The point of that truck isn't really to be crazy fast

dusk ocean
#

I just lift trucks

#

No trucks for me currently, though - had a dodge ram rebel

wispy cloak
#

I don't know what my dakota obsession is

#

It's not a very good platform

dusk ocean
#

bunches of F250/350 diesel, GMC 2500

wispy cloak
#

I miss my f350 so much

dusk ocean
#

I don't trailer anything any more so no need

wispy cloak
#

Selling that truck is one of my biggest regrets

dusk ocean
#

not mine lol

#

I paid like $25k for my 6.0L and got like $28k for it

wispy cloak
#

I paid $9800 for mine

dusk ocean
#

must have been an oldie tho

wispy cloak
#

'04 but had a late model engine

#

Studded and deleted when I bought it

#

I put a nine blade on it because the original turbo exploded

#

That turbo died in the dumbest way

dusk ocean
#

yeah i had to put studs on mine

#

i was running some BW turbo off a friends truck

#

it was dumb

wispy cloak
#

The v-band broke and dropped the exhaust wheel into the vanes

#

I've never seen a turbo die like that

#

I want another truck but mostly just for utility at this point

#

I wish the truck market wasn't like this

A 3.5 f150 would be perfect

gets TERRIBLE gas mileage too
