latest system normalises a annual rate of like £180/y between all cars I am sure
Hilariously because of that electric vehicles will pay more tax than a 2000's old tdi which will be like £30/y
Holy fuck
All of my cars that still require tax to be payed are like £330/y
as pre 2001 over 1.5L: £330 and under is like £250 cant remember rarely had it
only 2 bands pre 2001
Not long till all of my stuff is exempt from inspections and tax though
Jesus fucking Christ that's expensive
Thank god my parents will help me out for the first car and most of it's running costs
Yeah its a little annoying considering their age and how 10-15 year old tdi mega mile crunchers get cheaper tax but eh
the 2017 tax change was probably just a money grab by the government at the time making everyone pay a significant lump sum at purchase
Whats more annoying is that I pay for insurance on 4 of the same car and dont get a discount 😭
The only Volvo owner I knew had it in the shop far too frequently and the bills were far too high
I mean I can't lie
Your government fucking sucks man
After GED pushing me to buy a 205, watch Ethan push me to buy a Corolla /j
How are you mate
Ged, stop telling the child to make bad decisions
Eh theres worse than that but atleast I can mostly do what I want with cars
💀
205's are fine, its like a corolla but not numb as fuck : )
Don't you dare compare french garbage to a toyota
Oooooh let me grab my popcorn at midnight
Damn did you die

old toyota's are fine but too boring
Skill issue
I can do them myself
Oh yeah I'm a bit biased on the whole situation
Ow
They are just numb I get to drive a wide range of old cars and we quickly find out what's fun
Again, skill issue
This is like watching my parents arguing over custody all over again /s
its not a skill issue, like old audi's being tragically understeery its just their nature.
Me think imma disappoint the two of you by getting the worst possible car I could get for a first car
old french cars always trump handling wise in this way
My E100 Corolla was fun as fuck to drive, just floor it everywhere
My Corolla Fielder Z is a different kind of fun... I can't floor it until like 3rd because it just wheelspins
I have driven a E100 they dont rotate
My first car is most likely either gonna be unreliable as fuck or boring as fuck
Rotate?
I like a car to oversteer when I lift off
Also they very much can have liftoff oversteer if you're not driving a pov spec one with no arbs
And why they do so well on track
basically every car will have it if you force it but its very usable in a 205
205s are cool cars indeed
even standard 205's with some nice tyres dominate on tracks because of this
You can mess with the suspension on toyotas and trade all comfort for fun handling but I have always found Peugeot has a good balance standard.
Reliable but not super cheap to fix if it goes wrong
I was going to buy a V50 before they brought in the low emission zones : (
Do like those, the ones I see have seemed to last better than similar age v70
All the estate cars peugeot / citroen makes with the hdi I dont quite like and that was a good option but no
Probably because parts are cheaper
I was considering a diesel but with the LEZs I don't doubt they'll expand them at some point soon-ish
Friend had one with the 2.0hdi as well it was bulletproof but he had to get rid for the LEZ and now has a Peugeot 405 (not my idea I promise)
Wouldn't your cars all be exempt due to historical whatnots
Tragic
It's probably for the best
Yeah I was pretty unhappy at the time, almost went downhill.
What do you think about the pay per mile gubbins given you have multiple vehicles
Seems a bit better? Depends a lot on execution
Dunno they would have to make a proper camera network around the country to enforce it as my odometers could easily stop moving
Not that they arent already somewhat doing that
Insurance is my biggest issue generally but thats not going to change, unfortunetely due to young people abusing trade policies in the past it is very hard to get one unless you are old.
Hmm
I suppose none of these things are "designed" to make owning multiple vehicles cheaper
Literally free money on their part
Yeah its only going to get worse but im enjoying stuff while I can, I only really enjoy driving on track these days anyway.
Yeah gotta make the most of it
No matter what happens it's not gonna look good for ICE in a few years
good luck europeans
Pretty much a Ford Focus
Yeah realised that doing the wheel bearing on one
same ford setup that requires a 500000 tonne press as no circlip or anything
Might be the worst Volvo
I wouldnt mind a 740/940 but the diesel engines they came with are shit
and the fuel economy with the petrols is way too tragic
Maybe I will throw the money and swapping one to a merc or better vw diesel some day.
Aren't they already vw diesels?
Yep, D24
hence better
the engine bay of them looks pretty hilarious with a pre PD 1.9 tdi in them, all the room.
Maybe I could live with 25mpg but that might be a overestimate for a petrol brick
Ive always preferred diesels as regardless of age they tend do get good MPG and you can often easily increase power but it is nice to rev out a petrol now and then.
Indeed, though the red blocks aren't the most rev happy engines
Who needs revs when you can have all the torque at barely above idle
In a D24?
In any good diesel, I don't know shit about euro stuff
My p2 gets 25.7
So irritated rn lol
I just did a water pump on 2 separate cars
My golf and my dads ram
Both just failed less than a week apart a month after I did them
Both part failures
I'm still surprised at how little fuel this wagon uses
sounds more like skill issue
🐑
I think you need to check ur engine
Its still there
Ah all good then
Lots of fluids pouring out all over the place, but its there
my p2 2.4 gets like 33 on the motorway
like 15 urban lol
Welp, something is wrong
The manufacturer
Possibly, don't think they will take back 25 year old cars though
ya think he got enough gauges?
All of them seem reasonable.
Fuel, trans temp, water temp, pressure of something, volt, oil pressure, fuel pressure.
from the price of all those gauges you might as well get one of those digital displays
retro look but yeah the gauge discipline needed to make all the worthwhile ehh
Analog gauges are much prettier though
Not that those are very good looking gauges
getting the new whip tinted tmrw yayy
this time going 50% windshield 5% all other windows
and shopping for a set of enkei j10’s to replace the ugly stock wheels
@compact grotto you watch this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuToT4V3E7E&t=1123s

In this video, I bought a Terminator Cobra Must...
just finished like 30 minutes ago lol
Ever since you linked me that GTR video, i've watched every one
it took me a few hours today lol, lot of distractions - but dude, the rad vs intercooler cap omg
I'm very jealous of the AMG GT-R he just did
why would ford make both fit each other
yeah though he did a lot of work on that one
that one looked bad with the coolant in the chamber
last weekends video he went into the history of the car, which I always find fun
did he actually find out tho
yeah, had quite a past
i know he found it what car it wasn't
it was wrapped white or something in a rap video?
the cobra is sick
he was wrong about the original t-stat, someone drilled it not for "running cooler" but for bleeding air without it opening
OG trick for bleeding
All I can think about with those Termi cobras is do you remember Jimmy
and the blue Cobra from the IMV Films videos
hmm no
but that gen Cobra was always cool
yah i liked it
the GTs were ass though
this cobra though has some weird mods even for a road race car
diff cooler on this is massively overkill
I saw that cooler and he was wondering what it was. i knew it had to be for the diff given the location
but yeah, why the nitrous
yeah i could see someone doing a trans cooler back there also, but a transcooler on a manual is weird also
yeah so many questions
the battery + and - cable to the back he thought was for a sub was for the kenne bell boost-a-pump
you ever seen those?
Oh yeah I've heard of that
yah its like a capacitive system that takes +12v and makes it into like 17-21v
basically overvolts a stock pump
or run it on a dewalt drill battery 🤣
lol this was way before lion
it would like boost-based control the voltage to the pump
thoughts?
full polished BBS is a tiny bit "look at me"
Yes but also they're trying to get low offset on a high offset setup I hate how the centers bow, looks cheap to me
Is that a Geo Metro?
Yup.
In the Flesh, my mother has stories about her old car...
Well, Chevrolet Sprint, but same car, just Canadian.
Ay, neat. What kinda stories?
like how in the winter you could only have the heat on defrost, and the time that someone completely destroyed a brand new 95 monte carolo by crashing into a tree and barrel rolling into all of the neighbor's cars and barley leaving a scratch on the mighty 3 cylinder geo.
I've got pictures but I need to convert them...
The monte carlo rolled until it made it to the wall of the apartment and somehow the drunk person inside was still conscious.
Who needs the sun anyway?
Or the roof of a Toyota, same same
thanks.. i didn't know how big an engine was xD
Lol, dang. That's neat.
To be fair, this is a really small engine.
I spent forever cleaning mold out only for IT TO GROW BACK 😭
This car has all sorts of problems 😒
ATP just burn the car down and claim insurance
There's apparently some sort of fumigator you can use in the car to kill stuff. I think I saw it in a Tavarish video.
It hasn't even been on the insurance for a month 😭

honestly might be best to throw those seats out, once ya can see the mold it’s spread EVERYWHERE 😭
I was at a car show earlier in vancouver and took a few pics but this is the only one I have on hand rn lmao
The ZR1 was gorgeous
I'll have to grab my other pictures and share some of them
gah i love vettes but that front plate ruins it 😭
glad i live in a place where front plates arent required
yeah front plates are mandated here
a lot of people just ignore it though
all 4 of my cars have no plates on the front
I just pay the fee if I get ticketed
good call
fuck front plates
especially for cars that don’t have good places to mount
I mean it's a stupid regulation, the reason it exists is for cameras to be able to identify both front and rear plates
i aint drilling through a good bumper
but all of those camera systems are typically only facing the direction of the side of the street they're on
yeahh they’re big dumb
Cops stopped caring here a couple years ago about it
I don't know anybody that's been ticketed for no front plate in the last two years
I got three tickets for it between 2021 and 2022 and not a single one since
(And I've been pulled over three times since then)
I got a tint ticket but no plate ticket the last time I got one
the cop literally said to me "I think that rule is pretty silly" and just didn't write me a ticket for the plate LOL
but he did for the tint
holy w cops
Most of the cops here are pretty chill actually
A lot of them are also car guys and whatnot, car culture in BC is massive
Vancouver and Surrey PDs are where the assholes are
but RCMP is generally pretty good
no tint laws besides windshield tint here (which I just got so ima be pulled over a lot more but whatever) but the cops where i live (rural small town in northern michigan) pull my ass over for anything :((
Tbf I do understand why tint laws exist for front side windows and windshield
it's not as stupid as plates
got a ticket for 32 in a 25 right in front of the sign where it changes from 35 to 25
but I personalyl still think they are too harsh
i’d find tint laws more reasonable if cops also didn’t have “illegal” tint
Exactly lol
Also I think that wanting to conceal your identity when in a car is actually a legit reason to get tint for certain people (e.g. famous people/politicians)
If a cop pulls you over they will see who it is
yeah i mean imo everyone should have the right to privacy in their own car bc it’s not public property, the cops will figure out who tf i am when i roll the window down
One of the reasons I've been given is because "it can be more difficult to break windows in the event you need to be extracted from the vehicle" which is technically true but only situationally valid, but an argument can be made that window tint can be safer in certain contexts all around (e.g. not having bright LEDs from behind you fuck up your vision at night)
i do get it in terms of not knowing if they have a weapon behind said tint tho
I have bad astigmatism in one eye and I have tint on my front windows specifically so I can see at night
It's on my front side windows but not my windshield
yeahhh however in a wreck it makes glass much safer so it’s kind of a wash lmao
Without tint I get bad halos if a car is following me and it gives me migraines
I just did 50% and it was enough for me
the rears are 20%
but I also did that so the tint would match my roof tint
i have 50% on the windshield and 5% the rest of the car
I think thats reasonable
I like 5% but personal preference for me is it's too dark
in the sense that it makes my interior really dark
honestly with quality film visibility isn’t too bad but yeah it does make it dark
I've thought about getting my R8's windows tinted but tbh I probably wont
it’s how i like it tho
i don't drive it at night almost ever
so its not really a big deal
and I usually have the roof down so the tint would be kind of pointless lmao
lmaoo yeah
like imagine being in the convertible with dark as hell windows
seems kinda silly to me
i drive a lot at night and early morning
yeah that would look goofy 😭
trying to find photo examples and it's very hard
because nobody tints the convertible's windows LMAO
I found two cars with them tinted but the photos were all with the roofs up 😭
eww yuck good thing u didnt tint them crazy
why 😭
LMAOOOO OH MY GOD THATS SO BAD
comically bad
its awful oh god
honestly i feel bad for the guy he probably didn’t think about it till he put the top down
yeah that’s reasonable and honestly some factory tints are about as dark
I mean if the top is down why are the windows up
Sometimes you don't want all the wind hitting the sides of your face and entering the cabin
but want the openness of the lack of a roof
i dunno, my grandma drives her convertable chrysler sebring with the windows up (btw what a shitty terrible car 😭 but she thinks it’s hot shit so i hold my tongue)
I usually keep the windows up when the roof is down
unless I'm cruising for a long time and want to rest my hand on the door
the windows make a massive difference to wind noise and such as well
you'd think it's negligible but it really isn't
yeah definitely esp on the highway
it's VERY noticeable
It makes about as much difference as roof down vs up does, relatively speaking
if my roof is up though my windows are usually down
earlier when I was coming home I had roof and windows up though so that I could feel the AC lol
nothing beats windows down and ac blasting
very priviliged to finally be back in a car with working ac now lmao
I do miss those days.
lmao that's so real, my old E39 didn't have working AC
it sucked ass
i’m back into a nice car and not dailying 1000$ beaters and oh lord i am so spoiled with noise cancellation, a bose sound system, and carplay
coming from a beat to shit pontiac vibe
You get the buick?
Oh also to be fair stuff like the del sol is a bit different (iirc it's a hard top slopeback right? Almost like a targa top)
Like I imagine I'd probably want the windows down more often in a car like the del sol, it's not quite as open as soft top convertibles are
It IS a targa top but with a power rear window
One of my neighbors has a del sol and I think they're pretty cool
yeah, i’d have prefered a diff car but the price was just too good and it rides so nice, i’ll probably dump a shit load of miles on it and sell it in like 5-7 years
ahh then yeah exactly
I drove a T top and soft top back to back and the wind difference is crazy between the two
The del Sol is basically a soft top with a decorative roll bar one the roof is off and the rear window is down.
i love silly little cars like del sols
I've thought about buying a capuccino
It's a great car. I hope to get another one day since mine is likely already beyond repair.
im a big dude tho so it's kinda bad for me to be in small cars
I am selling my RX-7 for that reason
its interior is pretty horrible
Although my next car may be a RF ND.
good choice
yeah i don’t think my 6’2 ass could fit in a cappuccino
i barely fit in a first gen crv
second most fun I've ever had in a car is my ND miata actually lmao
it was a soft top tho
not the RF
i’ve had the most fun in tiny shitboxes
yeah
i do miss my cavalier 😭🤣
my #1 was a 2004 RX-8
genuinely the most fun I've EVER had in a car
but I refuse to own one again
the RX-8 is such a terrible car
but i love it so much
Yeah, I went to go test drive an S2000 at a Honda dealership like 20 years ago and they wanted to get their hands on my Sol so bad. lol I didn't fit in the S2000 well. The steering wheel was practically sitting on my legs. I also wasn't a fan of the six speed. Shifts too quick for daily driving. Oh and rag tops are crap.
it needs to be a really good soft top for it to be good
they do exist but not in hondas
IDK. they all sound like drum skins and can be cut open.
That's not the experience I've had with expensive convertibles
Quality is substantially higher on significantly more expensive cars lol
very cheap now but near impossible to fix them
but spinny dorito go brrrr
then promptly explodes
jesus probably not for long
3 months not bad
i gauge my purchases w my shitbox prices
my newest car was about 20 pontiac vibes
650$ beater
Rookie mistake, you don't just wipe mold away.
It's not just on the surface, you have to kill it
I did, I used apple cider vinegar
Cause I didn't have just straight vinegar
Cursed car is sold
Pay someone to wet clean it
what are you getting instead ?
Maybe a Mazda 3
Something that has a better reliability status
i forgot i have a towing ball 🤡
fair
Shh just drive away
I have driven a nice 35,182km in my 1 year, 4 months and 16 days of ownership.
I drove 40k from June last year to June this year
38k in the old car and 2k in the new one
a towing ball would’ve been useful today
i got rear ended by somebody’s grandfather
that’s why i have one
my car cannot tow unfortunately
idk. If I'm not using my hitch, I take everything off.
Then don't get a SkyActiv-X
How come. I thought their 2.0 skyactiv were good engines
SkyActiv-G sure, SkyActive-X no
From when did they start putting the X engines in.
Classic they sensored lmg tf y
But google is your friend
(2019)
It depends whether it's a 2.0 with 122 or 165hp, or one with 180hp
180 is SkyActive-X
(or 186 for the MHEV)
Usually it's also in the name
Skyactiv the goat
Maybe a mx30 could be a choice?
My budget is kinda like €12000-13000
Wtf, they are almost 40k????
I paid 15k for a used 2021 model with less that 22k km.
Bit out of my budget
https://ev-database.org/nl/auto/1241/Mazda-MX-30
MX-30 is nice if you don't drive that much/far
170km real world, drive 10-80% and you can do 120km
37kW peak DC charging 😭
10-80% 39 minutes 😭
I have gotten 210 on mine but that is with downhill driving. It estimat s around 185km on full charge and the guessometer is pretty accurate.
When it goes under 50km it starts becoming quite accurate.
But under 20 it slows down. And goes on the side of caution.
So it says 15km but in reality you have 20km
I was told up to 50KW charging. But in reality it's closer to 20KW-30KW because of temperature etc etc.
Yeah so as I said, nice if you don't drive that far 😛
I've seen Ollie drive to Austria a few times? With an MX-30 it's not a pleasant trip to do
Apparently the newer model can do 54kW
But the curve is bad so it still does 32kW average
"54kW" technically, yes
The newer is also a hybrid.
REEV
Gets an even smaller battery, 17kWh
1750kg, that road tax won't make any sense in NL
I think mine is 35kWh but real use is 30kWh
You don't have the spinning Dorito then I assume?
I was thinking about maybe taking a road trip down to a friend in Groningen. But it would be a long trip due to the charging stops I would need.
The REV model is not available here.
Getting an EV won’t really be an option
Just stop being poor and get an A6 e-tron
But yeah for this budget an EV won't make sense
Unless it's like a 2nd or city car
Or if you never drive too far
Mx30 is really nice as a to/from work car.
Drove with a A6 e-tron to Northern Germany last week, hammered it on zhe Autobahn wherever possible (215km/h), stop to charge at 15%, at a currywurst and the car was back to 94%
270kW charging go brr
If I'm going to swap I'm think maybe a BYD sealion or a Mazda 6e.
But I need the capital first to do that
If you think some driving characteristics of the MX-30 will be found in the 6e... It drives nothing like a Mazda
Als wtf did they do to the LR
SR is the only one which makes sense with the LFP battery and much, much, much faster charging
The Mazda 6e starts at 32k.
And the sealion 7 starts at 40k
I started building a idBuzz and it started at like 35k, when I was finished building it ended up close to 100k.
that’s why my new car is a diesel
i hate travelling with an ev
especially in southern spain where there is no chargers
I believe that my 20-25 minute session averaged 44 kW with the i3?
Small battery i3 could never 😛
Apart from it being limited to 125 A, and 50 kW. It charges surprisingly well. Flat, or even rising along with the Voltage.
Charged the A6 14->94% = 80% = 76kWh
Took 35 minutes to go to the bathroom and eat a curryworst -> 150kW average?
150 kW would be real nice for the i3. Or even 100 kW.
Yeah 40kWh would be full in an eyeblink
A6 peaks at 270kW
The "low" 150kW is only because we charged too long because we were eating currywurst
10-80 is 21 min -> 66kWh -> 190kW average
150 kW is what I consider the minimum for new cars. Tbh
Renault 5 does 100 kW? I think.
I'm fine with a trip taking an hour or two longer if I drive an EV.
Yeah, 100 kW for the R5.
"30 minutes for 15-80%" is what they mention.
Same. Tbh. The stops make the trip more pleasant.
If you ever do a road trip that longer than the range on your car you probably could do with a break anyways
And also most cars only need like 30 min charge to get a decent range.
As long as you don't try to road trip a car that's meant for city driving.
Love how not all manufacturers post 10-80%
Stellantis also does like 20-80%
Came home with this the other week.
Just what makes their brochure look more attractive
They probably like round numbers for the minutes. IDK.
Yeah everything over 30m looks bad
So they put 15-80 or 20-80 in 30 minutes to hide the shitty charging

Ohno the anxiety
The range you can start with every morning. And people have anxiety over it.
I drove from Kristiansand to Oslo and back in my mx30 and that is 650km I spent 3.5 hours charging on that trip.
Yeah unbearable, and then I drove as fast as legally possible in Germany for over 3 hours before I had to stop, while also matched with my lunch and toilet break
The horror
Also: driving 215 wherever possible vs keeping it 130 makes a huge difference, who knew
There's a big difference between 80 and 100 kmh with my egg.
The efficiency of the i3 is pretty great, tho.
I can probably squeeze out 300 km out of my car if I really needed to. But 250 km is a lot more realistic. And what I tell most people.
100 is a doable cruising speed tho, 80 not as much
Just set your ACC behind a truck.
I'd need to check the data of the car but iirc it shows the same consumption profile for 110 and 130
So the most efficient speed & charging is at like 130
(for that car)
As in like distance travelled vs charging time
it’s not about taking an hour or two longer, it’s about the inconvenience and lack of infrastructure
and it’s not even cheaper than diesel
The faster you can charge. The better it is at high speed driving.
Yeah I exactly saved time doing 215 even with the longer charge

Having a BMW 330e would also be nice.
Reminds me of a recent Carwow video where they compared the three different 5 series versions...
BEV, PHEV, and ICE.
With Mat's conclusion being that PHEV are useless.
Because ICE/BEV are much better at doing what they are supposed to do. And the PHEV is bad EV without the same ICE range.
That video made very little sense tbh
Everyone went after him that PHEV's use case isn't what they tested.
PHEV is great if you need to drive like 50 km a day to/from work. With an occasional longer drive.
Caught my sister car the other day. BMW i8.
Oh the infrastructure in Norway is fantastic, you are rarely more than 20km away from a charging station.
This is some of the coverage from one specific provider.
Roughly same are, different provider
I spend about 100€ a month on electricity.
Here the public chargers is around 0.5€.
And fuel is around 1.85€ per liter.
This is why I don't think EVs should be primary cars. Every family should have at least one ICE vehicle for road trips or emergency evacuation and EVs should be city only cars.
But then again most people charge at home where the price is 0.15€ per kW or at work.
I mean it would be so much more environmentally friendly to build small lightweight (think 90's Civic) 100 mile range cars for the 15 minute commute to work or the store and home for people to daily drive.
It wold be so much more environmentally friendly if the us stopped producing their gas guzzling minster trucks.
Lovely notification, ready for me when I leave work in 2 hours.
But they are needed in some cases.
I've been thinking about switching to electric
But i would never get the money back probably.
Money back?
I would say that 95% of truck owners never use it for it's intended purposes.
I never said it's 100% needed.
And they are also stupidly oversized.
We have 2 EVs in our household and we are happy so far, and if we are going on a longer roadtrip we wil rent a car. But with our network we dont really need an ICE.
I guess if you live in an area not likely to experience a natural disaster then renting is a fine option. I live somewhere that it can practically be expected yearly and if you end up in an evacuation zone without an ice car - enjoy riding the storm out in a stadium.
my only local gas station has two pumps and it’s already not fun trying to get gas so I cannot imagine we get electric fast charging any time soon lmao
That's why you should charge mainly at home/destination/...
If there's a natural disaster and you've had your car plugged in, it can do 300 miles
No need to worry then 😛
Tell that to anyone foolish enough to live in Miami.
Open up IG reels.
First video is something racist.
Second video is a reason why trucks are dumb.
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJcJVLjx2uU/?igsh=MTFiNHdxc3pjMWZydQ==

SUVs are a lot more dumb than trucks
At least with the SUV you can see the child you ran over before it happens.
What makes you think that? The real ones are built on the same exact platforms.
Sadly, most of the real ones are dead.
And the SUV is no smaller than that.
It's often so similar that you can swap the fenders, hood, headlights, grille and bumper for a new look.
google truck escalade conversion for example and you'll see all sorts of trucks with escalade front ends.
Here's a dually 3500 converted. Though that may require cutting and blending panels since the escalade is based on the 1500 not 3500.
Yep, and there's plenty of them that exist. They don't need to keep producing them
If the trucks were decent, and used for their purpose, everyone with them would have them for 20-30 years
Honestly - I want to see mini trucks come back (compact pickups) like the first generation Toyota Tacoma. They're great. But stupid efficiency standards made them impossible. The reason we have big trucks is because the Government literally said to make them bigger instead of making reasonable efficiency standards.
They're making cars in the shape of trucks and that's almost a start, but very much not what I had in mind.
mine is 30 years old 😎
these same epa laws killed sedans and compacts for the most part too :((
Hell yea found some cat plates from my dads old boat
oh hell yeah, i’ve got some old detroit diesel emblems from a generator tucked away somewhere
i wanna know if anyone in this chat has seen an NSX in person
👍
more like 150km
i have to charge every 100km with the model 3
like i did a 700km trip, had to charge the car 10 times
from 10-15% to 95-100%
and when i see how awful it is to find a charging station in spain i don’t want to do it again
like i just can’t wait for my new car
diesel powered
If you have a 2012 Nissan Leaf maybe
And that's just complete BS unless your car was broken
Yea, that is a bad battery or something.
The only cars I know that are under 100km range is the early leafs.
Found a 2012 leaf with 101 range.
That's what a warranty is for.
If you seriously only have 100 km's of range. Then something's dead wrong.
Found a 2019 model s with 400km range.
What model year is this Model 3?
Then again. All Model 3's should still be covered from age. Unless you piled on the miles like nothing else.
I love to see this diesel powered i4 eDrive 35 you mentioned
Must be a limited edition
Sounds like it.
Btw. I checked my consumption over a longer stretch. Seems to be a tad under 13 kWh/100 km.
I'm at 16.3
€1.75 to drive 100 km is a damn solid.
Would have been around €13-14 to drive the same stretch in my E46 320i.
I charge at home for 1.50 SEK/kWh.
Since January I have spent under €40 in electricity.
I have charged 956kWh at work since February.
For me it's like €100 between home and fast charging for two and a half months and 4,000 km's.
The E46 could take me around 650-700 km's for the same price. Ouch.
But you know. It's a lot faster to fuel up at a gas station...
Totally makes up for it, right?
When I purchased the car it had driven 22700km. I'm closing in on 29000km now
I bought my i3S with 44,200 km's on it. It has 48,300 km's on it now.
I'm just afraid that I'm going to exceed the insurance window for the mileage.
15,000 km's.
It's also my first car so I'm hoping I can have it for a few years.
That's a very low mileage for your first car.
My first car was my E46 that I bought with 71,000 km's on it. But I got it for a steal.
Like €5,000. 10 years ago.
Scrolling through images of cars on Google photos and I found a pic of the day I got my driving license.
Curious. Are you still able to drive a manual? Or are you auto-exclusive?
I took the auto only license
But it's pretty easy to take the manual license
3 driving lessons and a new driving test.
That's what I thought. I believe they are going to change that for Sweden.
And like 7000nok
Yeah I commonly get asked to help find cheap cars for people who have just passed their test.
Seems simple then you get hit with they can only drive automatics
In total I think my license cost me around 43k NOK. "€3600"
Used market for automatics is pretty dire here still
Still decent range left at 72%. tbh
Just go for an ev. Its pretty hard to find a manual ev
cheap
No EV is cheap, unless you're in Norway.
I can find a cheap leaf for like less than €2500
leafs like that here have 20 miles of range, literally
people still buy them though and use them
I wouldn't recommend an early Leaf. Sadly.
Closer to 40-60 miles on a full charge for a 2016 leaf.
Unless you are using it as a second car to only commute to/from work.
they are cheap because the battery condition is fucked
My thought exactly.
And 40-60 miles is sadly not enough for most. Even as a commuter.
And then you also have the problem with having to have a charger at home. Etc.
My first question when people ask me to recommend an EV is if they can charge it at home/work.
I just find it frustrating when people do the auto only test then expect to be able to get a car at £1-2k easily.
Cheap-cheap cars are still mostly manuals.
But you also shouldn't have many expectations at that kind of a budget.
Does it have a recent/clean MOT? Score! Worth at least £500 by itself.
I mean you really can get a decent car for £2k, in my opinion. but if it has to be automatic double it.
I had the 4 year service and EU control "MOT" last Friday and in total it cost me 600€
And I have to do the MOT every 2nd year.
Fortunately or unfortunately I only like worthless cars which I find funny because people assume you are cripplingly broke
Yeah averaging around 4000km/tank in the Passat when its not workshop broken yeah classic VW 🥀
Shitboxes are great.
Well maybe with Koeiengegg CC850
"No officer. I'm only driving in auto"
Didn't you order BMW I4 a couple of months ago?
Yeah I'm very interested in this diesel powered i4

Same charging speed as the new Passat Phev
AI blur
Old new they are going back to orgins with the latest EV's
cancelled order for 420d
go on the highway with ac on and bye bye range
no they checked it, it’s perfectly fine
Didn't you say that diesel cars had insanly expensive company car tax in French?
Ohno the horrors of needing to stop after 4hrs of continuous driving
i prefer to pay the tax than struggle with charging when i’m aboard
france have good infrastructure
but when i go to spain or italy its awful
well it’s basically stop every 40min at this point
and i already stop every 2h
I’m loving my new car, I get 500 miles on a tank of premium which is awesome, with regular it’s worse. No longer have to fill up every day, now I’ve got about 2 and a half days worth of gas lmao
That's bs.
Car must be broken if this is even slightly true
With you driving style you wont get more 500km range in diesel either.
140kmh gps speed and A/C on
35°c outside
I call BS. If you only get the range you claim. Then something is seriously wrong.
Could you show your consumption you most averaging like 40kwh/100km for that be true?
im at 26-30 kwh/100
Even my i3 could drive for a solid hour at that consumption. And the i3 has a 42 ish kWh battery.
I thought mine 16kWh/100km was bad, but his is on another level.
I did 335km flat out (215) where possible on the German autobahn with the A6 e-tron, took 25kWh/100km, after doing that still had 18% left
I have gotten 140km ev range in Passat phev although not highway speeds but still.
in city usage i get like 350km
but as soon as i do highway (which i do everyday)
the range is awful
What's your consumption?
Then you must do ALOT of aggressive acceleration and 0 regen.
XX kWh/100 km?
yeah lot of hill
Driving with his friction brakes dragging. Duh.
and i dont use the regenerative pedal thing because it give me sickness
Use your regenerative brakes. Seriously.
it give sickness to the passenger in the back
People don't know how to do that?
and to me
It's just an auto brake system basically
Slows the car down for you.
How does braking make you sick
the car make me sick in general
Engine breaking is better word for it
That's what I'm asking.
Fair, it is a Tesla after all.
it feel like a boat its awful
yeah its powerful
but awful driving sensations
and no range with my usage
Blown shocks?
But still, how do you go from 350km in city range to 100km on highway? That does not make sense.
outside conditions maybe
And have you tried feathering the throttle to regen instead of letting off all the way?
because in city i dont use the A/C i just keep the windows opens
yeah
Are trying to be Verstappen every time you drive ? i cant comprehend how someone could such bad consumption otherwise...
I know my i3S has much stronger regen than a Tesla.
So then your problem is the AC drawing WAAAY too much power.
Ditto. I'm confused.
maybe
and also i have an issue
If the battery is fine then that could be the issue.
Oh that's common on the older models
His AC must be powerful enough to cool an entire apartment block with that consumption
if i have a photo of it
Hills doesn't really affect EV's if your starting point and end is at the same elevation. Net zero. More or less.
this one
Only going uphill, like your grandparents to and from school, uphill both ways
Oldest Model 3 is barely 8 years old.
In Europe 6
Yeah i think you have major battery issue if you get that warning.
Tesla is known to randomly ban users that are grandfathered into the free supercharging subscription.
That's true.
Model 3 wasn't given free supercharging? I think.
Model 3 never got free SuC
only model s does
But this
Man. I would love free SuC.

You go into service menu and check why it throwing that warning massages
I'm still confused how you can lose more than half the range.
I know at least that there is jailbroken softwares than unlock superchargers for cars that has been banned for various reasons.
Is it really that big of deal most poeple end up charging 80% of the time at home or work anyways.
i never charged at home
Work only?
Not to mention that you barely have any Tesla charging stations.
DC fast charge only?
80% of the time
Damn.
like the area where i run errands have tesla suc
Sounds like an EV isn't for your lifestyle if you ask me.
Sounds intuitive
and my city public chargers are always full because free
I'm still confused how braking makes people nauseous.
At least how regen does it.
I just charge at work. And rarely charge at home/public chargera
the way it does break give me sickness (especially as a passenger)
If you are driving in a jam i could understand it to be annoying.
No idea how that's a thing. Unless you only stab the throttle and regen all the time.
Sounds like a You-issue, if you ask me. Tbh
In traffic jams is the only time it can be slightly uncomfortable
Oh, wait. I know a person who could only full throttle or nothing.
Keep more of a distance. Ez pz.
Well if you are really bad at using regenerative breaking i can get that but it takes like couple days and they should know to use properly
Or if it's the ACC. If that's the case. Don't use it.
My cruise control does that for me 🙂
Well in traffic jams you just use ACC anyways.
In mine its just acc
I know some ACC can be bad with throttle/regen/brake usage.
Pretty much all brands does that just turn off the adjust to speed limit setting and problem solved.
like it once suddenly broke on the highway because it miss read a 50kmh sign on a 130kmh road
Are you telling me to pay attention to the road?
Thank god i manualy have to adjust the max speed of my cruise control and speed limiter.
If you don't and have VW and it slam on breaks in tunnels because it thinks the speed limit is 30km/h because of the road above 🤡
And at one place it somehow reads the speed limit for the train rails beside the road.
So it thinks it 100km/h on 50km/h road
I don't use the ACC in my i3S all the time. Because it only relies on its camera. And it's wonky.
Have slowed down and braked for underpasses.
Works pretty good in our BMW that is camera based only just that max distance is bit short but the rest works rather well.
Correct distance for a BMW.
But yeah. Unless I'm going on longer drives, then I just stick to normal cruise control.
Sounds like the car is fucky wucky.
When was it last inspected?
govt or dealer inspection ?
Both.
govt inspection never because the car is too recent
and dealer last month
because the trunk wasnt working anymore
and the bluetooth unlocking only worked on one side of the car
I'm just curious if you have bad shocks in the car or something.
i changed them last year
but my area is very bad for cars
so they're probably cooked now
gn
You have broken the rules a few to many times.
me no
because the car already had the ban when i got it
probably my dad or one of his employes that got it banned
Was it a company car?
yup
Fitment 👌
Fancy rims
@civic spoke A6 can apparently overdeliver: 285kW (claimed is 270kW)
i love my hour and a half commute cuz there’s nobody on the highway 😁
definitely shortens the trip too lmao
3h/day just for commuting 🥀
very tragic indeed but i live in the middle of nowhere so it’s a given
I hope you can work at home at least couple of days a week.
I guess its 4h+ with traffic every day
nope I work construction lol. No traffic at all though so it truely is 3ish hours of commute
service moment
3 minutes for 14 kWh. Give me that.
Would mean a full charge in under 10 minutes.
And then you Zeekr 7x that does 480kw
Which is insane 10-80 in <15m
Don't get people who have range anxiety anymore
My guess is that people have more of a charger anxiety.
Yeah i get that if you cant charge at home or work.
Otherwise their is nothing really to worry about with modern EV.
For sure. Modern large EV's having 400+ km's is so much more than people think.
I'm convinced that the majority of EV haters still think that they are limited to 100km or so. And then need a few hours charge to refill.
ya it is swift but not the new version
its a 2019 model
so many balloons underneath da car
Ew
That is not a swift 💀
Charging network on the German Autobahn is hit and miss for EV’s.
Wait what
why the hell is there a storage compartment in the back under the passenger's feet
Meanwhile 🧱 shaped Volvo yeah pretty ineffcient but i still around ≈400km range.
@dusk ocean i had to click cause i miss it, but fuck that owner ruined it with the bodykit https://youtu.be/odsOpSbR1X0

My problem is that the charging infrastructure is so bad in north america
That's why I push plug-in hybrids right now
No need for a charging infrastructure if you're only ever driving the range of the battery, and charging at home. Which some seem to forget.

My issue is that I don't do that
I can't afford one anyways
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I also can't charge at home
I drive to/from work 7 times before I charge at work.
I can't charge at work either
Since I only work Monday - Thursday.
And usually I charge at like 30% wich is roughly 60km
Car is currently at 66% it estimates 119km range.
I have roughly 30km daily commute.
I don't hate EVs but it's just not a viable solution for a lot of people
In north america at least
They're expensive and with the current administration in the US being absolute geniuses and getting rid of any tax breaks it just puts the cost of entry above what many can afford
Or are willing to pay
At the end of 2024, there were over 788,000 electric cars on Norwegian roads, making up 28% of the country's total passenger car stock.
In recent months, electric vehicles have made up a significant portion of new car sales in Norway, reaching as high as 97.2% in July 2025.
Norway having 0% VAT on EV's helps
There's so much misinformation about EVs being spread in the US
In Norway, there is no VAT on electric vehicles with a purchase price of NOK 500,000 or less. For vehicles costing more, a 25% VAT applies only to the amount exceeding NOK 500,000.
That's still a big benefit
EVs have the exact same tax as everything else starting September 1st here
Before you could get up to a $7500 tax credit for EVs/plug-in hybrids built in north america
Well currently it still applies
yeah for me if i was to move away from my ice car a hybrid would be my go-to, theres zero charging infrastructure near me, I can’t charge at work, very long commute, and I don’t think the electrical service to my house could handle it cuz I loose power a lot as is
Also correction
It's going till the end of September
Otherwise there is no benefit from the government
Norway provides significant monetary incentives for buying electric vehicles (EVs) compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) cars. These benefits include exemptions or reductions on taxes, such as VAT and registration tax, which are very high for ICE cars. EVs also receive reduced rates on tolls, ferries, and parking.
Yes I am using Gemini since im working at the same time.
I can probably do 10 if I were to stretch it.
If I bought a brand new model 3 I could get to work one and a half times and that’s assuming it’s not winter (gets very cold here and range drops + heater)
so hybrid is my best bet probably
i guess technically i could squeeze four trips out of the range but it’d be tight
I only really have 15 km either way (30-ish km combined) to work and back.
i have roughly 90 miles or 144km for now, things may change based on where my next job site is lol
sadly don’t think it’s gonna be any closer to where i live than where i’m at atm
We'll see how my i3S handles the winter later.
The E46 320i handled it like a champ. Never got stuck with it.
And I didn't really have ABS/TC or anything in the last couple of years with it.
Yeah same in Sweden the only tax benafits is lower yearly roadtax and "lower benafits" tax for company cars.
its to smuggle drugs
Ugh yeah
Maybe
a jaaaaag
what is is then?
its a swift
...
🗣️ louder for the people on the back
Suzuki swift
Geo metro
it looks like a 2025 swift. the other cars look like 90's swifts
*late 80s
small qujestion, what would yall think of me getitng a station wagon as a first car ? i think theyre pretty neat, and i might need the space for a few things TwT
ill have to find a decent one in france
As a first car rule 1 is. Buy something that you can handle getting scratched/dented etc.
And within your budget
I had the same advice, didn’t follow it and never damaged the car apart from 1 curb rash. It’s really not hard to not crash imo
Instead of getting a cheap car I went straight to a 3yo car instead.
i think im gonna get a somewhat old but reliable station wagon if i can find one
those are cheap and quite useful
just gotta find a solid model
good call
i love cars that i don’t care about
ya can play bumper tag w other friends as well lmao
It sounds nice
Station wagons are great
They are wonderful, a scratch here and there among the many others doesn't matter. Nothing is faster ob dirt roads
Metro mentioned!
The Swift was actually decently fast.
All my homies love the geo metro
I have two of them.
Small rot box fun
Ye.
I love the 80s era of hatches
I wish mine had less rot, though.
My CRX has no rot!
Just the typical missing plastic panels, although I bought new fiberglass replacements from france a week ago
Ay, neat.
I think a kei car would be an awesome addition to my fleet of stupidity
I'd like one, too.
No its new swift the older version is better because the older version had 4 cylinder engine and new version has 3 cylinder engine

But a three cylinder engine is half a six cylinder engine! The best number of cylinders. Not counting twelve
Supercharged Mid-Engined All Wheel Drive
Friend of mine has an Aygo. Sounds pretty sick...
yup, I love being able to do 60 miles an hour on dirt roads without worry haha
I was expecting like a sooter to come by playing that sound on a speaker
Almost sounds like six cylinders
Half of a six cylinder.
Exactly!
I miss my outback
Except the rust
Random question but does anyone know anything about old american cars?
Im thinking of getting a 1976 Pontiac Lemans i see for sale around here, apparently was imported in the mid 90s, wondering if its a shit heap i should avoid
Any old car is gonna be trouble, i’d double check to make sure parts are somewhat available because you can get fucked w certain classics as there’s little to no support or parts for em
Would you guys recommend I get a 1 farat capacitor for my amplifier for my truck subs? I'm running a Rockford Fosqate prime r2-750x1 with dual 12" JL subs wired in parallel. I had a .5 farat capacitor for my amplifier in my escape, that was a Kenwood Excelon XR1001-1 with dual 12" subs as well and that worked good to keep the power stable
Pontiac are hard to kill
Those big ones are simple
Parts are available here in the us at least, they made these things by the 10s of thousands
Any specifics?
76 is high smog era
Dont expect huge power without doing some work
Otherwise its normal 50 year old car stuff
Rubber lines, old gas
Wheel cylinders
Check electrical connections
76 (iirc) should be hei so not need to sand points
I now have a leopard print livery on the miata i guess
holy hard water spots batman

Might be better to ask in #audio-tech
Well if this question is more on topic anyways, anyone have any advice as to where to ground the amp? I’m trying to avoid drilling a hole into the chassis of the truck as best I can to avoid rust
It’s a 2011 ford f150 and I’m looking to put the amp on the passenger side where it has more space to breathe
I seen a YouTube video, some guy just got a ground and power wire of equal length and grounded the amp to the battery lol. Even if I did wanna do that they only gave me a short ground wire anyways
I’m gunna see if I can use one of the seat bolts after sanding the paint away, unless anyone has an alternative
1 farad per thousand watts is the general guideline.
True ye. I might go for now without one and see how it performs, but I think either way I’ll be getting one soon just to make sure the rest of the truck stays properly powered
Now I have to figure out grounding. It seems to just barely fit around the bolt that holds the seat to the chassis, but it keeps wanting to cross thread. Might also have to see though if I can get the paint off the bolt
Probably good up to 500W without. >500W probably pick up a 1 Farad. >1500W start considering a 2 Farad.

I’m also wondering now if instead of trying to get the ground onto the seat bolt, do I go for the metal brackets that hold the rails on that let the seat go back and forth
Wouldnt be hard to import parts here in the uk, i know a guy who does, Nothing i cant handle in terms of maintance it seems, Thanks for the input kind sir
You're welcome
Oh and vacuum leaks
Those smog cars were a nest of vacuum lines leading to all kinds of bullshit
Air pump, charcoal canister, etc
But plug the ports and yank it all out and you're good
Depends on how bad the emissions are without one cause i know the UK are strict about that kinda shit, honestly might see if i can delete it but keep it there so i can just put the pipes back in for the MOT test.
then yank it after its passed
Modern set of cats should mean you don't have to use a lot of the bs
Depends on the british laws on old cars too
Old cars are basically treat the same as new ones but i believe some are either MOT Exempt (meaning no car/emissions tests... yipee!!) Or tax free, or both i cant remember
think its cars over 30 years old
or 40
but considering this is 50
should be all good in that regard
Yep
Over 40 are mot exempt unless theres been a "significant modification"
so unless its rotted and somebody has managed to replace the chassis somehow
im all good
Yep
The biggest thing there would be if its had an engine swap
What engine is in it?
Pretty common here to v8 swap if it had a 6 stock
I find it rather SUS that replacing the chassis is considered a substantial change but if I replace every thing that bolts to the chassis with the same part but from a different of the same vehicle, that would be fine as there is no 'substantial change' since the vehicle works the same.
Can't remember if it's a 260 or a 350 V8
There were some options
Oh man if it had a 455 that would be badass
Well not for my wallet would probably get like 2 MPG
Usually around 10-15
Us at least
My personal want would be a 400
The aftermarket on those is great due to it existing a good long time pre smog so there was and is a lot of interest
Good set of heads and a cam wakes them up fairly inexpensively
I've been enjoying my new ford
In this case its a 350 pontiac
Which is just kind of ok
Pontiac didn't have a small / big block, they just had a sort of large-medium design
The 350 poncho was a small bore kind of long stroke design that did its job but wasn't a powerhouse much
Reliability wise it's fine
