Yeah if you count ones that I drove but did not own that would add quite a few. My dads 99 Ford Taurus was my primary drive back in high school (white, looked like an undercover cop, got out of sooooo many speeding tickets because the cop just assumed I was one of them and didn't pull out). The first car I owned, I didn't even regularly drive. My dad thought it would motivate me to do better in school so I could get my license if I owned a car so he let me buy a cheap Plymouth Voyager. I sold it a year later for a small profit. The first car I owned that I also drove is my '93 Honda del Sol. Sadly it hasn't run in a decade and is rotting in the back yard. My mom has a Hyundai Palisade that I drive when I need to or when she needs to go somewhere. She hasn't really driven since she got shoulder surgery.

round radish

right foot braking is stupid if anything

#

unironically what are you doing with your left foot in an auto

round radish
#

are your guys left feet just incapable of braking

#

like there’s literally no difference for me between using my left or right foot to brake

round radish
charred depot
#

its just not normal practice

#

you can use both pedals on track to help rotate the car

#

I can left foot brake but I wouldn't do it driving around in an auto

#

no instructor would teach you to either

charred depot
#

Sometimes in manual turbo diesels before overtaking I will hold them on the brake to maintain speed and go full throttle so I will have full boost for the gap.

stoic ledge
round radish
#

that is the worst reason i’ve ever heard

#

don’t skip left leg day

stoic ledge
#

Ok buddy

charred depot
#

its not strength its that the first time people do it they will do an emergency stop

#

same way the first time a person uses their right foot to brake often does the same when learning

round radish
#

you just brake normally

#

your left leg is capable of pushing the pedal down not all the way

charred depot
#

yes it extremely common and well known to occur with people learning to left foot brake on track

round radish
#

that’s just silly

charred depot
#

its reality

round radish
#

it’s the same pedal just brake the same but with the other foot

stoic ledge
#

That's the thing, most people cannot brake the same with their left foot, they usually use more force

charred depot
#

atleast 50% of people will do an emergency stop

round radish
#

idk what to say

#

that’s just stupid

#

it’s the same pedal lmao

stoic ledge
charred depot
#

You clearly have never taught anyone to drive

stoic ledge
#

I don't think he has ever driven a car KEKW

pure pond
#

here you get failed if you do that with getting your license

charred depot
#

I have the same experience as an experienced driving because I go between cars with a brake booster and with the brake booster deleted

round radish
#

fire the instructor

charred depot
#

I will often do a emergency stop accidentally when I go into a modern car because I am not adjusted

round radish
charred depot
#

the same way peoples left foot is not adjusted on the first use

round radish
charred depot
#

you are taught with the right foot the experience is built up

round radish
#

if your only allowed to drive autos why is it

#

why is an inferior method to drive taught

charred depot
#

to avoid unintentional dual inputs

#

they will often keep their foot slightly on the brake leaving the brake lights on etc

round radish
#

that’s just bad driving

#

just simply don’t do that

lone fern
#

yeah i was gonna say i’ve seen people rest their left foot on the brake pedal (usually older people) and drive down the road with the brake ligjts lit up

pure pond
#

thats just like, just dont crash

round radish
#

it’s like simply don’t press down on the pedal

#

brake or accelerator

charred depot
#

tell that to a already flustered learner driver

round radish
#

apparently you have to right foot brake in a driving test for an auto license wherever smokey lives

charred depot
#

they just dont like you driving 2 footed in a auto for obvious reasons

pure pond
#

if you rest your foot on the clutch you also get failed so

round radish
#

the fact it’s a clearly better way to drive a car?

charred depot
#

weve gone over this and you can argue all you want but 99% of the world disagrees.

stoic ledge
#

Left foot braking is here also forbidden in auto license exams

round radish
#

99% of the world is stupid

#

literally give me one valid reason why you can’t left foot brake

charred depot
#

You can all you want once you pass its just not advisable

round radish
#

other then “my left foot isn’t trained for it” which is just silly

charred depot
#

You can totally do it, its just abnormal

round radish
#

i think it should be a norm

stoic ledge
#

Give me one reason why it would be better

round radish
#

dual inputs when needed

charred depot
#

more likely to make a mistake, especially when they also drive manuals

stoic ledge
#

Just make it 1 pedal then

#

Even faster

round radish
#

1 pedal cars do exist

pure pond
#

like a forklift

round radish
#

a lot of electric cars have a one pedal mode

stoic ledge
#

They still have 2 pedals tho

round radish
#

ok?

#

they don’t need to have both

charred depot

stoic ledge
#

They still do,

round radish

you can fully drive an automatic electric car with one pedal

charred depot

its not going to stop that quickly

stoic ledge

round radish
round radish

stoic ledge

charred depot

60-0 in 13 seconds isnt an emergency stop

stoic ledge
#

Oh no a child! I will lift off the throttle and stop in 13 seconds instead of 2

pure pond
#

thats just regen

stoic ledge
#

Yes that's indeed what we've been saying

charred depot
#

the 1 pedal driving braking was considered to be light enough that the lights didnt need to activate, but it was still enough to catch people off-guard hence this video

stoic ledge
#

Lift of = regen, brake pedal is still needed for the mechanical brakes

pure pond
#

its like engine breaking it also doesnt show brake lights

stoic ledge
#

Brake lights are unrelated to that and should come on above a certain amount of de-acceleration

round radish
#

but it’s still slowing down enough to warrant brake lights

charred depot
#

you are moving your point constantly

stoic ledge

stoic ledge

charred depot

this is fucking hilarious

round radish
pure pond

he only said if you are fully stopped then it uses the hydrolic brakes

round radish

it uses the hydraulic brakes the entire way lmao

stoic ledge
#

Yeah it'll apply the friction brakes when completely stopped (e.g autohold)

round radish
#

it did

pure pond
#

guy watch the video omg

round radish
#

the only reason they didn’t activate the brake lights is because the button that the brake pedal hits when pushed down didn’t get pressed

#

and when stopped it activates auto hold which does activate the brake lights

round radish
#

please actually watch a video before telling others too

pure pond
charred depot
#

Even if you are slightly correct on this point we have already covered that its a slow stop so your original point was wrong you will still need both pedals.

If you can swing the A229, it comes with USB-C which might be a nice feature

#

A129 is also perfectly fine

edgy sun

the a229 plus is barely more expensive but the pro version of it is about £150 more so will pass

worth going a229 plus over the a129 pro?

stoic ledge
#

I will need to check, I'll let you know later today :)

stoic ledge
#

@edgy sun A229 Plus has the better and newer STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor for clearer video in practically every condition.

Main up-side for the A129 Pro is the possibility to have 4K video.

Personally, I'd take clearer 1440p video any day over 4K. It's also just newer so it has a better thermal design, rear cam can also be 1440p, WiFi is 5GHz if you want to transfer videos that way, if has voice controls ( 🗣️ Ok Garmin, video speichern but then with Viofo text) etc

Basically the A229 Plus is better in every single way

Personally I dislike hatchbacks but it's not a bad deal as long as the repairs check out. I would say maybe look into the Hyundai Palisade if a 'SUV' doesn't bother you. (I don't think anything without a full frame is a real SUV) I've put probably over 20k miles on a 2020 and it's a pretty decent drive. The 2020s are starting to get down into the 16s to 18s tho they typically have around 80 to 120 thousand miles.
