i sat at 190-200kph for 2.5 hours on a road trip and the volvos motor never went above 2k rpm the whole time
i could try i suppose
what car?
something fucky is going on then
cause my volvo weighs 3800 pounds and makes 209hp
but it does sub 2k rpm at 190
yet your car struggles to even make it there
4th in my cobalt hits rev limiter at 157mph
all i have is a software tune tho
im gonna get new brake pads before trying anything like that tho, my pads are feeling pretty thin atm
my cobalt actually has the potential to go faster. it doesnt have the power to hit the rev limit in 5th gear so this is one of the few cases where more power= higher top speed
get ebc pads
ill look into them
ive have them on my car and ive done an 8 hour endurance track day with no brake fade
they also bring the car from the very top speed to 0 much much faster than you think
ive pulled muscles in my neck before from stopping
oh are they ceramic then?
Holy fuck lmao
no they just make good brakes for cars that do more than get groceries
nice, ill definitely give them a look
@dull heron they sell everything from eco brakes to full race spec brakes that squeal like a banshee
I've done 210 once and haven't done above like 170 since haha
@dull heron i have their trackday brakes
doesnt enter 5th gear till 250kph
which ones are the track days?
yellow/bluestuff
word, thanks
Everyone on track here seems to dislike them
They're pretty polarizing. People worker either think they're hot shit or just shit lmao. We use em and think they're good but also realize that they're also potentially nothing special
Mornin @hexed kayak @stiff bloom @charred depot

Morning
how many cars do you have now?
I only have 5
Ill be getting rid of this one once ive fixed its issues, I really dont need two of literally the same car.
Already have 3 Peugeot 305's without this one.
So that's where they all are
Owning weird cars is fun
If only the people who owned regular traffic like mustangs and camaros didnt shit on them so much
I like shitting on pre-10spd mustangs
The caliber is silly
Anyone got experience with old small block Chevys?
I spent all day today dicking with ignition timing and idle rpm speed but can't get the darn thing to idle on it's own. Sometimes it backfires through the carb when I blip the throttle so I'm starting to wonder if timing is too advanced?
Do you guys hear that whistling up near the high end? It sounds like a turbo or a baby supercharger… lmfao
First time this season my window scraper was used.
It’s cold where you are now?
Damn
chilly
Wild how there is only 500 gnxs and i know of 7 in one fucking neighborhood
Quebec native people fucking love those things
One of them is just rotting
The rest all run and drive
Theres like 20 roadworthy 305's in the UK and I had 5 at a point.
Save it
New sleeper project, not to be confused with my other maroon 305 saloon

Happy birthday to Finland's two-time world Formula One champion Mika Hakkinen, who was born on this day in 1968.

Look at this video I made: https://youtu.be/hh2l6agfF5s

my £650 car 🥰
seems common to me too 👀 :europeantime:
Dead here and since we drive on the left imports are undesirable
Have rhd converted one from portugal
enjoy your imports and online orders while you can i got a buddy whos a trucker and he says the ports are about to strike
That look like a good car for that price ngl
it is, i like it
What brand is that ,
vauxhall (or opel in mainland europe)
its a vauxhall corsa from 2006
More used to the one here
Those are pretty neat cars
98000 miles and 7 previous owners, still going strong
Yay - just replaced the window regulator in my wifes car in like 20 mins
congrats!
i mean it as im not new to car work, i have just been putting it off because window regulators are a pita, but this one was actually easy
i know of a couple around here
i want a turbo t, the're the cheapest of the bunch and arguably the coolest
theres a grand national always parked behind a store here
after waiting too long for parts and some time working the battery for this build is done
also known as the death cube as touching it in the wrong 2 places will kill you
proof?
its 96vdc at 120amp hours
it can output 100Kws easily so yea itll kill you
you know the LTT video with that big ass fan they used to cool a pc thats basically a plane motor
this can power that and more
possibly 2 at max power
dam
but... like whats it for
Worlds least discrete but most lethal Taser?

90 WHP hub motor for a motorcycle
I prefer dying in the flames of gasoline thank you very much
No electric fire shit
I don’t wanna be cremated I want to be slow roasted to perfection
wdym they make plenty of sense. Bikes already have shit range, electric ones don't have much less, plus motors can be crazy narrow and dense. Esp hub motors like Kricky has are perfect for the application
instantaneous torque basically no running cost and pissing off "purists" just because HURR DURR electric bad is a great pastime of mine
best part is its actually MORE range than a standard tank ~300km assuming im not driving like a idiot
thats not factoring in regen but that gets a bit iffy with these controllers due to current limitations
i kinda like electric bike, they look cool
thanks bro appreciate it
geniune question im not too much into cars and bikes is that the rim or the motor ?
im guessing rims ?
the motor is the rim
that is the motor basically
instead of being chain driven the rear wheel itself spins eliminating unessary mechanical movement/heat giving more efficiency in the system
only downside is loss in top speed due to no gear reduction
field weakening can only take you so far
itll peak out around 200kph
all i need to do now is make a case for it and start testing
im expecting to get this done before next motorcycle season 🙏
wait thats actually really cool
also the wheel look cool asf
well ngl cant wait to see it done
if you dont mind keep us updated on the progress
i will dw
yea one of the perks of being electric
i only gotta worry about brakes and tire pressure to be honest
i think all including the pre charge resistor the system is above 90% efficienct
from power in battery to power to ground
that is cool as fuck
thing is you dont need to do all of this to have fun on these
this is a extreme passion build because i wanna fuck up some super cars and have a nice toy
you can get a cheap E-bike for like a grand
and a controller for 500
and make like 20-30 WHP
you would need a nice battery though
so for like 2 grand usd u could do something simillar
aslong as you tune the controller right
those stock motors can take a beating
seen a dude push 72Vdc at 300A into one making 20Kw at the wheels
it was a mini bike too
thing was a deathtrap but fun as fuck
funniest part was watching some dude on a gas one at a meet challenge him to a race because he made like 10hp on his tricked out motor
just dont push em past 70c and ur fine
i own one already
wait actually
by e bike
you mean bikes with pedals right ?
sadly im pretty sure modifying them in france is illegal
Oil or coolant?
In France you can't go above 25 kmh with them. I think.
At least not powered.
If it's the same laws that we have here in Sweden.
Ye the power need to shut off after you reach 25
otherwise its like a solex

Really? That's kinda wild. My FZ6 will barely do that, tho I am mostly doing in town riding
imagine making it a tollroad
like we're already paying roadtax why need to pay toll fee
i wonder how many years its going to take
dont give them ideas
Its already confirmed that u gotta pay to cross the bridge
thats insane
It will be
Let’s charge foreign vehicles using our excellent road network
Yes it should detected if ur license plate is from NL and let u pass for free
im just gonna buy a shed in poland and be a citizen there so i dont have to pay road tax here
I mean I pay €38 roadtax and idc
Maybe start cycling
Toll roads in NL should be forbidden
when my other car is done i needed to pay like €380/ 3months but im just gonna put it on my company then its €120
€380??!
yeah euro 0 diesel.....
Oh god
im gonna have to change it to a petrol engine soon
I was looking at some campers but aint no way im getting a euro 0 camper now
yeah thats not worth it
It will be like Norway,
Finance the cost of building it and will be free when the loan cost is paid.
Could also work I guess
I mean I probably will never use it lol but still
Parents collected horribleu MG4 today, didnt realise it was RWD.
Pretty sure one of the wheel aero trims is about to fly out already.
CCP 👀
Show pic
Its a brand new MG4 I wouldnt waste any space of my phone for such a thing
It is swift though, too swift for a normie car.
I can see why old people hit the wrong pedal and go mach jesus into a building with them.
is this it?
Kinda looms cute
yeah, its in grey.
I was amused at the sales person saying if you go to press the brake to start it too quickly after getting in the car it may show a high voltage fault and all you have to do is get out and back in.
no way
I've driven one, it's not that refined imho
Feels like the kinda information I get when buying a 20 year old car on its last legs.
Classic CCP Software
When I drove it you also had to push with 382874kg of force on the brake pedal to start it otherwise it didn't work
They fixed that in an update I think
Im used to pressing the brake that hard anyway heh
Also you have to turn off lane departure assist every god damn time you start it
That's mandatory to start every drive
bing bing bing you went over the line slightly on a winding road
Speed warning is worse tho
And yes CCP cars bing bong on everything
It's horrendous
It is "nice" but does seem 5 seconds away from "computer says no" at any point
rear window also might aswell not exist
waste of money even putting it on
Imagine having to update ur car smh
2 1948s and a 43
i really wanna get one of them camera adapters like collin had in that one vid of the 5000 tech up
New tune on point
Throttle response is much quicker
No longer stumbles when you punch on it
I need to crawl under the truck to check if the signal cable for the starter is corroding.
3 hours later and the exterior is cleaned. 🧼
Now the interior
I know 🥲
Waxing a car takes so long
Wait
WAIT
Are those the lug bolts???
I have PTSD from that head rounding out all the time
Its just a cover
Oh I see
So complicated 😂😂
Yesnt
My cars security features are better
It's such a shitbox it's not even on any thiefs radar
secure
😂 I dont think my Polo is either (I hope)
youd be surprised, thiefs here usually go for those type of car since they are extremly easy to sell
I’ll take it as a compliment. I’m sure they stole it because it just looks so damn good 😉
i mean, its in good condition and car in this price range will always have a buyer no matter how sketchy it is
Is polo just a baby golf? I don't think we get those in na
polo is baby golf yes
I guess so ye
NL is filled with Polo’s
You’ll see at least 2 to 3 Polo’s at every supermarket
What is that? Engine dyno thingy?
Diagnostic machine for carburated engines with distributors points and consensor
Basically anything up to like the 80s
does it just test vacuum and all the misc stuff or something?
thats pretty neat, is there some logic that can spit out what the issue may be based on readings?
Angus
i belive so i have yet to have it in person
its an atlas ama 9
sorry im super busy atm
aparently depending on what you hood it to you turn dials which turn papers which are the readings on the back of the gauges its all analog
seems fairly cool for how old it is, but especially now seems pretty useless
at least use wise
if you work on anything modern yeah useless
even old
depends on what your working on
for $150 i wasnt gonna let it hit the scrap yard for having all the books and wires
yeah, thats fair, even as decoration its worth it id think
and maybe im missing something, but all i can find online is auction sites
but it looks like a volt meter, timing, vacuum, and dwell
yup
most of which can be done using much cheaper tools
can do some other things like osciliscope and kill each cyl individually
but still very cool, especially with the books
ive got all sorts of old tech
the osciliscope is pretty cool, but I cant think of a use for that really
old manuals are pretty cool, I have a 99 mustang that had a shop manual in the trunk, but the trunk leaked quite a bit so the book was water logged and pretty unusable
were gloveboxes not invented yet
ive got an old 88 beretta manual somwhere
unfortunately the owner used that to store the court letters he got
yup gurentee that mustang was 3 child support payments behind most of its life
probably, i found evidence of children when i cleaned it lol
yup
back seat to, which is criminal
Ive got this old moisture tester for grain too
Needs a neew display or whole board
Im guessing its late 80s to mid 90s
Supreme honda reliability
Although I do like the modern amenities that today's automobiles give us, there will always be part of me that wants certain functions to be physical linkages, like oh gee IDK... emergency brakes. Something about safety.
There's something fundamentally wrong with the design of the car when you cant even put it into neutral... sheesh
Its a great thing he survived with no injuries
This reddit comment is obviously satire, but... it's not that far off from the poorly designed emergency exit system Tesla was using when that one person had to smash out the window because the emergency exit process wasn't designed in an obvious fashion.
https://www.reddit.com/r/RealTesla/comments/15mkgz8/tesla_changed_the_model_ys_emergency_door_release/jvi0s19/
I unno:
the Tesla Model Y owner's manual warns that "not all Model Y vehicles are equipped with a manual release for the rear doors."
Complete batshit fucking insanity
Oh, you didn't pay extra for the safety features? Guess you'll just die then!
More like "didn't buy your car back when they were even more shit than they are now? Guess you'll just die then! Maybe you'll learn next time to pre order your pos $70k compact car before realizing it sucks you fucking reprobate"
What a beauty
Humanity: if its not broken dont fix it
Cars: not broken
Engineers: fucks with it anyway
Conclusion: extermination of engineers

Yet another piece of evidence that salad shooters are immortal
Offer that guy $200
It runs tho
Oh
and drives
What trans is in it
$250 take it or leave it
Those 4+3 manuals are kinda aids though
For a grand though
i don’t know corvettes
Some c4s came with a 4 speed manual that was basically connected to a two speed auto
lol
So outside of 1 2 3 4 you also had 2OD 3OD 4OD which is that auto shifting into second
But the fun part is they're not reliable, rebuilds aren't cheap and you also lose reverse when they go
They did make a 6 speed tho thags the one to get
I don’t think anyone in their right mind in modern day would buy a sports car with a stick if it wasn’t 6 speed
EVs suck, only have 1 speed transmission
Not all of them.
@compact grotto
shocked and appalled
mixing up polarities = blown out main fuse correct?
Naur
It's a good thing though.
The NHTSA (or whatever agency is responsible) needs to just ban these trash heaps.
So it's like having a splitter but bad
Potentially
Can also destroy modules
It'll total a lot of cars
ETA on a new window?
Never?
My bonnet is fucked too
Did I see my name in the text?
Got the new windscreen just got to be careful fitting it, will borrow the bonnet from this one.
shit that sucks. forgot to latch it fully?
Not sure, the secondary latch got ripped off
Ill be buying a safety cable with a carabiner for the future
Managed to fix my rear wheel bearing
finally
after living with a borked one for a year
Thanks.
I hate it.
That look cool, if only the car wasn't a piece of shit

@stiff bloom i had a fun morning
i didnt run the wires correctly for my map sensor in my volvo when i put it back together
so the harness got cut by the rad fan and i just had to fix it
I can still see fine
officer its just a rock chip
Since I need a decent bonnet I have bought another two 305's.
brings it up to 6 305's here.
one is a van which is tragically rusty, another is a saloon which is also rusty but could be saved.
ill probably dismantle the van immediately and get rid of it for space.
I hate freeze plugs
thank god it's a motorcycle then
that's fire
Found a piece of someone's exhaust

thanks
Might be able to make this dream happen
jeez
Yup gotta love what a suit could possibly net me
this shade of black ain't the best looking to be honest mate
Eugh yuck. At least it was an obvious and easy fix?
That's a couple synchros short of a gearbox there
Syncros are actually ok
Am I the only one who's underwhelmed a little here? The design seems oddly derivative, and while those specs are great, they're not exactly mindblowing anymore. And yeah, Mclaren usually underrates stuff, but still.
Plus, the nerdy thing I found funny was: 1.6mi of EV range. From a 1.4kWh battery, that's about 38MPG. In an EV.
For perspective, my CMax will do 5mi on 1kWh. So if the W1 was as efficient as my 800lb-heavier midrange 5-door hatch, it'd get about 7mi range, or about 438% more
are they?
Syncros were not the cause of this failure
It was lack of lubrication
The last goober to open up this trans used way top much rtv and it got in the oil pickup for the trans
well yeah I was just noticing that. One only needs to look at ANY of the other gears to see stuff that's wrong, I just wanted to make a "trees short of a forest" joke
holy shit it oxidized. Miracle that that box didn't sieze.
Well
The diff locked up and killed both axles
You can actually hear the diff seize and rip 5th gear to shreds in this vid
This video is what caused this
My phone mic can't even record the 15 in my car
Hmmmmm
Ooo yummy candy holder
toasty
Good news! That is the least expensive brand new car you can buy in central europe. But it's not cheap looking imo. Dacia Sandero.
Just bought this, but not the cheapest trim tho.
10 times better than my 20 years old opel corsa that didn't even had abs.
For the similar price you can buy 3-5 years old car from more premium brand that was leased and has 100k km driven and probably requires costly maintenance work.
One of the last brands that sells simple gasoline/lpg cars without that hybrid nonsense.
Used and new cars market is toasted in EU due to climate taxes and regulations.
looks kinda like a subaru crosstrek

My friend is expecting his very soon, it's at the dealer but he's waiting on zhe plates
That waiting is the worst 😄
There is high demand due to new taxes coming in january of 2025 so ye
Y'alls vehicle registration systems suck
But his dealer is doing a poor job of updating him, and when he calls they don't know
No new tax in Belgium (for him) I think
all EU will have it, its a co2 tax, 90 euro for 1 g of co2 or something like that
The Belgium one seems to suck at least, apparently he has to fill in forms and send them? Idk
Never a issue or any delays from that here, piece of cake for dealers.
Quite funny due to a typo my friend has a car that doesent exist, but is insured and on the database.
The plates were made with a incorrect letter but insurance accepted it and forced it onto their database.
Can't seem to find anything about that, can you link a source?
In NL it's also done for you gg ez wp
Unless you privately import a used car but even that's fast registration wise
Imports are easy too, could register a car built from scratch easy enough too.
Something id like to do one day but insurance is too much of a fuckery at my age.
Should hopefully have this mostly fixed tomorrow. Thanks to being a hoarder this technically will cost me nothing.
If I dont break the 40 year old windscreen when installing it.
i had some polish sources, but i found this in eng, it mentions the fines in 2025
https://evmarketsreports.com/the-road-to-european-automakers-2025-co2-targets/
Ok so that's not a tax of 95€ per gram CO2/car
It's a fine for when the average emission per car is higher than the set target, and it's then a fine for every g per car over the target
So if Dacia (en Renault) can offset cars polluting more with their EV's, they're fine 😛
yea, and the sandero, if nothing changes, will be significantly more expensive, like a lot of other cars
they have one small EV, probably will not change much idk
It's not only Dacia, it's also the Megane and Scenic for example
EVs are stupid with lipos, so this push towards it is even more stupid
And all their PHEV's are also below it
it's probably for the better tbh
So "Renault pool" is currently apparently 8 grams said target based on the current sales?
If that's the case, they can indeed increase the price of every car by ~€750 euros to cover the fine
the sales increased in 2024, so we will see
i already bought mine so I can wait for these policies to die off anyway lol
or move to US
Lol
EV's get taxed as much as my old euro: no diesels from 2025, maybe more if they are expensive ones.
I love the UK car tax system
that being around £300/y, wheres even early 2000's diesels can pay as little as £30/y

bru what the fuck... why is the cheapest BRZ on the market $13 500 AND AN AUTOMATIC

AND its a first year as well
like wtf are people on
It's definitely beyond clapped
Certified pre-totalled
I've always found better deals on marketplace compared to autotrader
Ontario car market is just fucked in general
clapped? it actually looks like it's in decent shape tho
yeah and the cheapest there is no less
Subarus come clapped from the factory 🗿
maybe $100 less then Autotrader is
nuh uh
boxer 4 makes sense to keep the weight lower down in the car
car handles great from what I've been told
Subaru mfs spending 15 grand on a turbo kit to make bone stock junkyard LS power
Just for it to blow up after 3 pulls anyways
ah yes lets compare a completely different engine to ALL of Subarus offering and what people do with them 🙄
Sorry but he's right. boxers have always been about packaging first. That their center of gravity is low is only a side effect
he?
my buddy at work had a Subaru, he pulled the engine like every month
you mean she
He means me 🗿
Mr degree sign over there I meant, apologies
ah
isn't packaging the reason to have a lower COM
This is how I feel hating on Subarus and their dogshit cars
I'd still rather have a car that doesn't explode after 80k kms
There have been plenty of fun cars with inline engines
you make it sound like NO other car has the same issues
yeah most of them BMW
Nah, you can have one without the other. Porsche first used it because they had done all of vws design for the boxers already. VW did it because that was basically the only way to have an air cooled rear engine car (hence why corvair also did it)
How many other cars have been assembled with rtv being force fed into the oil pickup
Mfs thought they were making foie gras
how many other cars have cylinder head gasket issues
AND there you get a peek behind the curtain, the "legendary" formula of the Porsche 911 all came out of packaging constraints
Plenty, but few others are such a horrible pain to get at
fun little sports car that's "SUPPOSED TO BE" cheap
Get an nb Miata you can still get em for like 6 grand and they aren't dogshit
bru don't kid yourself am pretty sure there's some GM out there where half the engine underneath the wiper molding
Even an nc can be found for that price
Yeah and part of that should be "cheap to own",as in "cheap to maintain", as in "a head gasket shouldn't be an engine out procedure requiring 32 shop hours and disassembling 3/4 of the engine bay because the engine is underneath everything" 🤣
Which gets even worse when gaskets go every 50kmi
no you can't and what if i want something newer and not convertible
right but that's all modern cars these days
So you're saying you'd have a less reliable car and pay more for it just to say it's a 2013 instead of a 2006
Makes sense
bro stfu
I can tell lmao at this point I'm just trolling
Nothing like arguing just to piss people off
I still think that things worth 8k max
Uh um no. A head gasket on a modem car is an involved procedure, yeah, but definitely not engine out and definitely definitely not with the amount of work to get to as a Subaru
trolling is only "fun" when everyone is in on the joke

also like i could totally see myself dropping the engine in my garage
even without a hoist
Sure, but it doesn't change the fact that you wouldn't need to do it on most cars but on a subaru you do. And even if you did, it would be much more complex of a job on a FX engine than almost anything else short of a Porsche
Look, I love the GT86, lovely car. Almost owned one. But the engine is a big yikes and not worth the immense risk that is it's reliability record. I would prefer almost any other engine other than like a northstar or something
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Without a hoist is crazy
Could you even get a boxer engine out of the top of the car at all?? Surely that'd be almost impossible, you'd have to drop the whole thing right?
from what I've been told they've figured this issue out tho. the best year for this was 2015
I'm honestly curious, I've never done it but just thinking about it it makes my head spin what with how low they are and how incredibly wide they are
who said anything about the top
Well that's how you use a hoist yeah
Do they still need engine out sparkplug jobs too?
😌
guess you could use a jack to drop it tho
not that kinda hoist you goober
still have to disassemble the entire engine bay first tho g😬
o yeah i forgfot that
Subaru with no AWD is like buying a hot dog, throwing out the weiner and just eating the bun
oh my fuck WHO CARES
looks like the consensus from subaru enthusiasts, if you get really really good at it, you can get it done in the car in "half a day" with "only":
slim ratcheting wrench
torque wrench
regular extension
universal joint
assorted metric sockets
14mm deep socket
10mm angled wrench
#2 standard screwdriver
magnetic pick-up tool - indispensable
Wait what hoist are you talking about? I only know of the one kind
that's literally most tools that people have
LMAO I guess that's better than previous innovative solutions such as:
- pulling the entire engine
- drilling holes in the frame
car hoist not an engine crane

A lift?
sure yeah but doing spark plugs in either of my cars takes:
slim ratcheting wrench
torque wrench
regular extension
universal joint
assorted metric sockets
14mm deep socket
10mm angled wrench
#2 standard screwdriver
magnetic pick-up tool - indispensable
am not British
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh ive only ever heard those called lifts
^^^
(i'm PNW)
eewww British people moment
These ones are called 4 post lifts
our shop has a frame lift
lmao they aren't elevators

Don't even really need the u joint
Atleast on my cars I didn't
just move to the salt belt where by the time you need to replace a spark plug you dont feel bad about taking a drill bit to the body, because its half gone anyway
True. Edited
But at the same time a rusted out BRZ is worth less than the spark plugs you'll put in em so 🤷♂️
why do you think we just dont change spark plugs here
POINT IS, if the 86 had a K series, or a VPS, or an LE5, or an EA, or AGE, or or or or or or [ad infinitum] I'd probably have bought one
And I seriously doubt it would have handled any worse
Probably better actually, since the FX engines are quite heavy for their power output
Cole deserves every single bit of head that comes his way
thank you m'lord. And you as well
Subaru knows how do develop them a chassis and drivetrain, I will not argue that. But MAN keep them away from the engine bay (and the interior while we're at it, yeesh
)
To their credit, they probably do one of the most reliable AWD systems in the industry, that shit's actually bonkers
The AWD is cool, I personally would never have a use for it but it is cool
correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Subaru's implementation one of the few true AWD systems?
I think so yea, I think in a car it's just them and the non haldex quattro's?
oh, I guess AWD isn't necessarily always full AWD
I think even outside of car's its usually FWD until the front starts to slip SUVs
I think yeah, and then more recent fords
yeah ditto
I assume it's more for gas mileage when they do it this way?
a vast overwhelming majority of the time even in snow you don't need awd
and component wear i think
FWD and snow tires is usually pretty good
I think so
As someone who owns a Ford Escape, I kinda wished mine was the 4wd model until I found out that it would still be FWD until it detects slipping, I was hoping it'd be selectable 4wd not just a bad AWD
I mean those systems are usually pretty responsive
but yeah calling it 4wd is a bit of a misnomer
Im sure they are, but its 2010 electronics, so I have my doubts
Still better than the systems that claim AWD but in reality it's fwd with a little 3hp motor that drives the rear wheels
Oh yeah those make me roll my eyes so hard
Like it's probably better than haldex in terms of responsiveness but atleast give it a decent motor lol
wtf were they even expecting
True insanity begins when the Aston Martin Valkyrie meets the Autobahn! I'm with RFX Collection in Germany, to bring you along for the ultimate first drive in the 1-of-85 Valkyrie Spider. Arguably the greatest hypercar of our time, and what a way to experience it, come along for the INSANE ride!
Aston Martin first presented Valkyrie back in 201...
such a lovely sound
sorta
...sorta...?
the whine is kind of brutal
it's orgasmic
For like 10 minutes
Then you start to feel like you're in a bad dream in a dentists chair
Well sure but it's a hypercar, you're only supposed to drive it for minutes at a time
I don't think you're actually supposed to drive it lol
Well you're supposed to drive it, but most people who can/will buy it would never imagine driving it
I would custom order one with a transmission that doesn't sound like a hand drill
Nah the drillmission is one of the best parts
I do like 80 miles a year in my car that had one and that was too much
literally not enjoyable
Onboard footage + telemetry in the GT MK IV for a 1:21.17 lap of Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca
yea
I had a samsonas box in my bmw
"This is cool!"
600 secs later "why did I drive 610 secs from home?"
tee hee secs
But fr, I get it. But at the same time, i have no doubt the engine sound alone would be exhausting too. That's why mr schmee there is using ear protection
well no thats so you can communicate lol
because...?
apparently the vehicle plays warnings thru headphones
and it does so because...?
~~it's a super loud car
~~
It's not a Grand Tourer or even a supercar. Basically the only reason it's street legal is so they can say it is
way too much
aite
Used windscreen fitted just the bonnet to replace now
needs bonnet pins or something now as cant trust the original catch
Oh, while it's on my mind
Valkyrie 2.0 exhaust tips inside the car and pointed at the drivers skull
And I wouldn't have it any other way
You get to hear it in it's full glory, but only once
The shame of the Valkyrie is that its not even exhaust loud - its all induction nose and transmission whine for the driver
You know, it's kinda weird how cars with:
- More power
- Lower center of gravity
- More torque
are generally sought after and the cars that naturally have all of this are not particularly popular.
There's a lot of EV hate when they are really good at doing what people want cars to do (other than making stupid amounts of awful noise, which EVs fix)
because your missing one thing, most people who like all those things, also like when car make loud noises
Sure EVs put the weight in the right place but they're still much heavier, they're also so much more expensive to have a good handling one + lack of involvement by the driver is lame
That's like the worst part of cars.
Like the cheapest good handling EV is what? A base model taycan that's still like 90k CAD used?
maybe for you, but obviously not everyone, some people like when car go brrrrr
Mine handles fine for me. 🤷
What car?
2023 Chevy Bolt 2LT.
This guys rage baiting 💀💀💀
I just don't get it, there's perfection at a lower maintenance cost and people just don't like it.
for example the v8's used in f1 during the mid 2000's, and the audi quattro
I’ve driven an EV a few times and its fun but I still prefer petrol engines but idk how I can explain why
Meh idk there's a lot of tech that can go wrong, they may be more reliable but when big things fail it's almost never worth replacing
Like didn't some brand new Hyundai battery fail or get punctured or something and it was like 50k to replace it so the guy just had to scrap it?
honestly, I dont think straight EV is the way to go
Often the case with ICE too, if your engine blows up most people aren't going to have it replaced.
Meanwhile on my civic if my engine blows up I just pay a shop like 4k for parts and labor and they do it
honestly, the people driving EVs are a different target market then the people who drive ICE
They are also much harder to flip in accidents which is a nice bonus.
EVs are targeted at the people who buy a different vehicle every couple of years imo
I don't see a single ev making it to their 6th owner with 300k on it
I think the main thing is EVs are still just too new, companies are still working things out
If they start coming out with manual EVs I'd be so down
^
The biggest problem with evs is lack of physical response imo
But there's just no point other than targeting an already small market atleast in North America
howd a manual EV even work with a clutch
Very very easily
Motor connected to flywheel and the rest is normal ice car stuff
Motor is pre axle
That's a thing and Toyota is working on a stick shift instead of paddle.
I mean if you are talking about literally not having engine noise, having very limited range and worry when driving spiritedly, weighing like 2X as much as their petrol counterparts, and being relatively soulless... I mean yeah sure if you get passed all of those issues they're fantastic cars
Another huge l for electric vehicles is I can't just put one of these on and make obnoxious noises
To be fair comp turbo sucks
Ok nerd
That's a feature not a bug.
I prefer opening my engines and seductively touching them
The Electrogenic 356 is no ordinary Porsche restomod. This one might look like the original, but there is one big change: it’s been electrified. Now, in most cases, electrification is carried out in order to improve efficiency, but in the case of this electrogenic 356, electrification has also been applied to improve FUN.
Looking for your next ...
I don't see why you'd want to artificially limit the output of an EV to add gear shifting though.
450hp single cam goes insano style
because its fun
^^ there's no practical reason but it's fun
because cvts suck for all cars
I enjoy EV more than manual and auto.
Cvts are such a cope
isnt this a thing aswell?
cvts are great for economy cars and nothing else
economy cars should not need to replace transmission belts
also not when mans try to turn them into regular transmissions
Yes pair the transmission that sucks ass at off the line starts and high torque with a power plant that is all about high torque off the line
Because that's pointless, you use transmissions to keep engines in their power bands and EVs essentially don't have to worry about that.
CVTs are a college doctorate students thesis project that should never have gone into production
They are ridiculous
The parasitic loss you get with a cvt over a auto is insane
I do want to drive a CVT at some point though.
reliability, losses, wear/tear, cost
what about small motor vehicles like a snowmobile
They're good for racing but crap at start stop
Not to mention the fact that if you don't keep up with maintenance they will fucking die
Very quickly
Nissan has entered the chat
Some cvts have a mechanical first gear to account for how much they suffer off the line
The only claim I've ever had on me my entire time as a lube tech was a Nissan cvt
Even using a transmission over a gearbox is less efficient and electric motors are so good that only one car has a transmission (that I'm aware of).
Actually the FW15C got banned for its electronic aids. Also its transmission was hilariouisly unreliable
they should have a bypass switch and have 7-8 toothed gears for when the rubber bands break
at low power levels they are decently reliable
Drained the fluid, swap the internal filter, filled to capacity with the recommended fluid from Nissan, blew up 2 days later
I can't believe Coda tried to do a CVT EV.
Perfect
When they had it towed to Nissan, they claimed "it failed because you didn't use Nissan genuine fluid in the cvt"
I can't believe Coda tried to do anything 💀
Even tho we used the exact specific fluid that Nissan recommended outside of their oem fluid
The original car would have been decent if they got off the ground.
That sounds like a skill issue for Nissan.
We are talking less than 100hp
nissan has plenty of skill issues after all
Cvt bad
Cvts are not meant to last longer than the lease of a car
Cvts are the bmw of transmissions
Fair enough
That's certainly a design flaw.
You have it until the lease is up then you trade
I have a BMW with 550 hp and 354k miles
Yes
It's crazy because cvts nowadays are tuned to simulate gear ratios
How did you even come to that conclusion
I have a 210k mile 1048 rwhp BMW
That's cool bro
That's the thing I hate more than anything
That's stupid.
Entirely defeats the purpose
I'm not talking about aftermarket stuff @dusk ocean
It's because "tHeY fEeL wEiRd" otherwise
The "BMWs aren't reliable" are always typed by Honda owners whose engines are outside the car 😉
I'm specifically talking about 1st owner off the lot
Yeah I dailied a 280k mile 525
Stock as can be
I wanted it to die and it would not
Drive a regular automatic then you goober.
Honda owners just graduate into BMW owners
That's what I'M saying
So true bestie
Tesla is the new BMW.
Honda owners are so confused by rwd
That's why I went from a ej1 to 3 crxs
Bros never heard of an s2k
Especially with the new models that make it harder to use turn signals.
Sorry, Honda finally did something from 1905
Tesla is the new apple
Yes, yes, the S2000 the definition of Honda
Wait were they really
Yes
in the 60s lol
Like s600?
Honda beat?
It's wild what Tesla gets away with on refusing repairs and junk.
Okay but Honda gets a pass because they do fwd so damn well
Because if you cultivate a rabid enough fanbase you can do literally whatever you want
And people will love you for it
It makes my fucking jaw drop
Tesla is a tech company not a car company
They're a propaganda company
They have no pedigree and their cars are built and handle like crap
Ah yes, that also applies to current world events. You'd think as a society we would have evolved past that by now.
laughs in track pack that has brake fade after <1mi
@graceful flower current collection
Evolved past calling a company out for charging 100k for a car that's built like garbage?
Black rex with no front end is a parts car for the other 2 crxs
Their truck is so hazardous they need to be banned.
I've seen a cyber truck in person and I am genuinely impressed how they managed to fuck up aligning body lines on a car that has 4 of them
Every panel is a fucking square and not a single edge lines up
How
I've seen like a dozen.
nah past designing a shit product and then blaming your customers on it
Idk why everyone is suddenly acting like tesla panel quality has gone down
It's always been this dogshit
I don't think anyone ever said it was good without drinking the Kool aid.
No its bad on a car with curves, it's even worse on a car where everything is flat
Look at mclaren
Bid on ToeFoo and Schnitz here! https://crsnbds.com/ThrottleHouse
The 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance ($72,003 starting in Canada,$49,130 USD with federal rebate) has seen some significant changes aiming to help improve its sporting capabilities. This includes Track Mode V3, adaptive dampers, more power, better ‘track-ready’ brake pads, new tire...
Several hundred thousand dollars cars and they come with severel panel gaps from factory
One of these days I definitely want to convert a car.
The only mclaren I've ever seen in person that didn't have hideous gaps was totaled and rebuilt
LMAO yea those are funny too
Everyone raves about "hand built" when in reality it just means an inconsistent quality product
Oh yeah remember that weird charging tentacle that never happened?
Yeah! Example 973 of "useless techbro product that makes actually no sense but grabs headlines anyway" peddled by this garbage company
That's one talking point that never ceases to piss me off. "Hand-Built" is supposed to mean "attention to detail" but wayyyyyyy more often than not it's just a cop out
I'm still annoyed that they are not letting Chevy on their L3 charging network.
Well first Chevy EVs have to stop bricking themselves immediately
That's not even remotely true
Mine has been perfectly fine.
It's mass produced hand made that's the problem
Don't forget catching on fire after two recalls fixing the issue of catching on fire
Oh yeah that's a good one
RIP LG
Oh well it's everything after the bolt that's been doing that. MY2022+
Don't ever call me out like this again unless you want a kiss on the lips bro
Imma kiss you on the cheeks
Man EVs are so good but companies are trying to chase the Tesla BS and paying for it.
I hope you don't mean his face
And I ain't talkin bout your mouth
Nah they're trying to apply ICE logic to them. It's the same thing as CVTs in a way
Thinking they can subscriptionize/monetize them the same way as they've been trying to do with ICE cars isn't going to work
It won't work on me because i won't own a modern vehicle
There is nothing a modern vehicle can give me that I can't just throw in the eg or the blue crx
The giant tablet infotainment systems are really getting out of hand.
they've been out of hand for like 5 years
I'm so happy mine has physical controls for most things.
Im fan of the 23 civic si infotainment
but it's cheaper! we don't have to engineer buttons
Shits pretty cash in terms of what it actually takes up
I would prefer knobs for the climate controls but that's my biggest complaint with it.
Rented a '24 accord, its interior was lovely. A true breath of fresh air
So real
and it was a base model. Cloth everything. Buttons everywhere. Perfect
It's almost like they care about the driving atmosphere still
Yeah. The touch interface was abysmal, but who cares? You have Android Auto and buttons and you don't need anything else
The biggest reason I love the crx so much is, everything is meant for the driver
Something that aggravates me is the lack of bidirectional heat pumps in EVs.
Those are a thing tho
Not that there are many controls to begin with
But the way they organize the clusters and leave everything else open
It's art
Anyway, I have to go do actual work stuff now that these computers I was updating are done updating.
bai, have fun
Something about 80s dashes realy peaks my fancy
this picture was taken in a rot box I used for front end parts
Shit truly is a box of rot
itll buff out
80s dashes fuck
On GOD
all the gauges and all analog
Dude
The single best part about the crx is vacuum based timing advance and the fucking fuel pump runs off the cam
Fuel pump and dizzy are all one assembly
Fully mechanical motor
Shits awesome
But the age old question
Is your vacuum advance hooked up to manifold or ported vacuum
ngl, I think late 90s and early 2000s might be the perfect mix of old tech and newish tech
still analog enough to be fun, but new enough to be quite reliable
True
defintely dont say this just because im driving a 99 mustang and am coping because its a v6
my hope is when the v6 dies, drop a 350 in it, and then blow the transmission
You know why I like hondas
Smoll
I have no fear of fucking the motor up
This is true vtec is fun
I never experienced VTEC till my 8th Gen SI and now I love it
D series vtec isn't shit lol at least on stock cams
B series vtec
Wow
That's some fuckin spice
Super light pull in the b18 del sol
Someone I know has a K20 turbo fitted into a decent chassis
(A Peugeot 306)
They had a built turbo diesel in it before, big downgrade
K series are so over hyped
Yes they are good motors
But b series responds to boost way stronger
And is infinitely more widely attainable
K does sound wild in vtec tho
It does
My exhaust rusted out though so now I'm running some aftermarket garbage:(
I miss being able to hear the induction noise
SHUT THE FUCK UPPPPPPP
Been looking for a clean OEM exhaust on marketplace for months
Hehehehehe
Its a custom job so probably makes more sense to design around a K series.
Wat
A Peugeot 306 doesent come with a honda engine etc so everything was done custom.
No honda should be straight piped
They all sound like wet farts
This is why the del sol only has a downpipe
I was on track with a mid engine converted del sol and they were having a real hard time controlling it
Oh yea it's fart time
All del sols handle like this
you would see them slightly go off the throttle instant 360 into the grass heh
They were in the grass like 10 times a miracle they didnt hit anything
The wheel base moves around because of how much the del sol flexes in corners
Leading to snap oversteer
honda engine in a decent chassis
