Got bad enough one time i have to pull it out. Realized that it got worse as i brought the connector closer to my phone, never touched it
Don’t know what the fuck that means but it pisses me off
Found a solution to my whole issue tho. Turns out my double din stereo is two completely separate parts. One is just a cd player. Thinking abt replacing it with something with Bluetooth as an input to my head unit but that doesn’t seem to exist for some reason in single din
Everything I can find online is either an ugly ass pos head unit or a big ass screen that I don’t want in my 1997 car and those are also all head units bc that’s the only thing that exists in this world for some reason
That's schmexy
did you find out why it turned off?
Custom prototype transmission that I've built using off the shelf parts.
I own my own business where I remanufacture and rebuild, and re-engineer custom Honda transmissions.
There's nobody else on the planet that is more knowledgeable about these particular transmissions (with exception to the engineers that were originally employed by Honda, that were assigned with designing and developing these, where all their knowledge is protected with NDAs) than I do.
That challenge is extended and I offer a cash reward to anyone that can put me in touch with someone else that has more knowledge than I do.
I will answer any (reasonable) questions for you guys
There's some of my books / binders for all the thermal fluid courses that I took at Clemson University
here's my grandfather's heat transfer notebook from 1934. (he was also a mechanical engineer)
Here's the latest updates to my mini workstation build:

I am here because I am wanting to get in touch with Linus because I want to help him out (by sharing knowledge for free) with his house water cooling project.
In the meantime, I have worked professionally in the automotive tuning/performance industry since 2005, and I am willing to offer my knowledge and experience by answering any of your questions.
I feel like I just inverse spammed you guys lol
big durbo xud
the hell, why does such a small load kill everything?
Wdym with load
didn't you turning on the washers cause everything else electrical to go out?
No, there is something is wrong I believe, the engine light turned on for about 5 seconds after its turned off so I think something is messed up, maybe with the engine or battery but calling tomorrow
I doubt the load is what caused it
very weird, did the engine actually shut off too?
No I still had power from what I recall
sounds okay to me
Yeah idk man but I’ve decided to just not drive in case it had something to do with the timing belt
I was able to accelerate I think but I slowed the car down as soon as I saw the engine light
It just doesn’t make any sense
yea ive never seen that before lmao idk how it would bounce back on like nothing happened
finally went to one of those midnight car meets
Is that an Ecoboost?
What?
90000% certain
Those are sick cars they don't get the credit they deserve
If Honda put its 300hp turbo 4 in a rwd platform people would lose their fucking minds
But when Ford does the exact same thing people go "haha 4 cyl mustang gae"
Damn right. I hated on them until I rented one back when I worked for a car rental Company. Drove it about 250 miles two ways and fell in love. Got 25mpg trading places with an F type S doing 90mph one way and then got 40mpg driving back like a regular human being.
Between the 10 speed and lovely turbo noises and 0-60 in the low 5s for (at the time) sub-$25k brand new, it took every fiber of my being not to pick one up
So real. It makes me sad except for I was in that same camp until I lived with one for a week
Do you understand why Honda doesn't ?
Because they're mostly a fwd company, developing a rwd platform costs big money especially if that's not where their existing experience and expertise is?
Idk that'd be my guess
Any automotive manufacturer is capable of producing a vehicle that is sold to consumers that will blow the competition out of the water
Did the s2k not sell well back in the day? I don't remember the car market back then because I was too busy eating sand at the park
Its not that they are a "FWD company" perse. Honda is a motor company. They sell vehicles that will make them the most amount of money
They're pretty nice too, you can get them pretty well equipped with fancy stuff like heated/ventilated seats
Oh yeah. The one I had had that stuff. Radar cruise and heads up display too. It was a nice beast
Yea but if the last time they developed a rwd platform from the ground up was almost 3 decades ago I would imagine theyd need to do a bunch of hiring or training to get the staffs skillset back on par with competitors that have been doing rwd this whole time
@graceful flower Take a guess as to how many integral, drivetrain parts that Honda had to design and manufacturer in order for them to make the K20C drivetrain that's sold in the 2017+ Civic Type R
Give me a number
I'm gonna assume it's high 2 digit low 3 digit
80-120?
Oh wait drivetrain sorry I thought everything
3
What were they?
Reverse idler gear, mainshaft 5th gear, countershaft 5th gear
Oh and last thing, a feature that I don't understand why every performance car doesn't have, is driver adjustable steering feel and ratio. GOD my mind was blown when I learned about that
@stiff bloom One of the most immediately noticeable mods that I ever did to my '94 Civic was putting an Integra steering rack on it.
Wait there's no way that counts engine right?
It's astonishing how much that transforms a car
Yes and no. The engine is just an iteration of K-series
O tru
What was the trans carryover from?
2010-2014 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT
Pretty cool did not know that
Didn't those also come in 6spd with the j series
Or did that stop with the Gen before
That's what I'm referring to
But I guess that just adds to my point
J37A4 with 6MT
Europe had a 2015-2016 Civic Type R, the FK2
Same K20C that is in the FK8
After taking such a massive break from rwd they really don't have anything to iterate on either like other oems do
So initial development cost would be brutal too no?
I mean they could also just put the engine/transaxle behind the driver 🤔🤔🤔🤔
23431-RK6-000 - Countershaft 3rd gear
FACTS
RWD is popular among enthusiasts.
And then they would have to lay off employees
Cough* fiero *cough cough MR2 *cough mostferrarisbefore1978 *cough
Niche market
Eh they're already doing that
Fiero was a good car
Now that they're 4-6 grand around me lol I don't think I'd like the price they were asking new haha
The other thing is that automotive manufactures are reluctant to sink a lot of R&D into vehicles that aren't electric right now
I unno, fiero sold almost a half million over 4 years
MR2 sold a million billion
Actually aren't plenty of manufacturers steering efforts away from EVs?
I'll give you an example
In 2003-2004 I had a 2000 Civic Si with B16A2 engine
The newer Civic Si had a K20Z3.
It was a less exciting vehicle to drive
Many of us on Honda-tech.com said that Honda had fallen off and that they should have just put the TSX engine in the Civic Si
What we didn't realize is that we were right, but Honda wasn't going to do that for another 10 years with the 9th Gen
Well I shouldn't say that "we didn't realize we were right"
I had a 96 ex and now have an 08 si! I miss my 96 everyday
Last generation with double wishbone suspension up front
Isn't the z3 the one everyone wants nowadays though, the last "true Honda" that revved high and all that
K20Z3 is the weakest K series.
VTEC with lift was only on the intake cam
Basically the engine from the base model Accord in Europe (TSX chassis).
Europe taxes vehicles differently. Engines above 2000cc get taxed higher
So, Europe gets an engine with a shorter engine stroke.
They offset this by putting a different final drive in the transmission
Final drive is just the one gear ratio that effects all the other gears.
Think front chain ring on a mountain bicycle
Us dumbass Americans see high engine RPMs and we're like "OMG is it going to blow up?????"
I do get a little nervous seeing my car sit at 3500rpm on the highway, I have never been described as a particularly smart fella so makes sense
The 5 speed K series transmissions are 6 speed transmissions with just a blank gear installed where 6th gear would go
Different ratios of course
We're not accustomed to high RPM engines here in the US
now that I’m living higher up my car is even slower 😭
This is true too lol, my c3 basically runs out of steam right when my si just starts waking up
discord’s tweaking
O
I mean that's not true. Coyote and LT6 should be evidence of that 😛
Never mind voodoo and lt7, all of which are well above 8000
its a v6
ever heard of modified cars?
Yes but aren't those still geared to chill at low rpm on the highway? Torque down low enough so don't need to rev high
Very cool
Didn't even know anyone would bother putting fi on the V6
i think its a v6 anyways
all i know is that it did a decent burnout
C3 ?
corvette c3 im guessing
You get what I'm saying
92-93 Integra GSR had a 0.875 fifth gear with a 4.4 final drive
That's. ~4700rpm at 80mph
If a customer test drives a Corvette, they know that the engine is going to be unique, different
If a customer test drives a 'nicer looking Civic', then they see 4400rpm @ 80mph
(not that they're likely going to drive 80mph on a test drive)
They're likely going to be unsure if they're okay with that.
likely exempt from emissions laws
i mean, the gt gets sorta close
7000
Not in Ontario technically we have to maintain all factory emissions equipment regardless of how old the things are afaik
But we don't do emissions testing so really it'd be up to the cop to pull me over, know what to look for etc etc
I'm thinking of a thread I saw on the forums years ago where someone had an older Corvette, and because it never came with emissions equipment, it was grandfathered in on being able to run anything, such as open exhaust
I'm in down in the south. Nascar land. I don't know of anyone that's ever been in trouble for any mods on their cars other than window tinting.
Those have either 6MT or 6MT transmissions with tall overdrive gears
?
how is that related?
Yea mine is a 79 so it's got all the emissions crap but I'm deleting em, EGR smog cat all gonna go
Sexy guy
That car, from the factory has a 5MT. When I had that car I often drove on a stretch of highway between Columbia, SC (flat, plateau portion of the state) to Spartanburg, SC, which is where you get into the foothills of the mountains.
Speed limit is 70mph, traffic moves around 76-79mph.
at 80mph in top gear (5th gear), that engine buzzes at 4400 RPM
Now, bear in mind this is a stock vehicle.
Most americans are not accustomed to smaller displacement engines that rev high. We don't have laws or taxes that regulate engines from being enormous.
So, up in Detroit, many years ago they're laughing at all the crap that the europeans are doin to make the engines more powerful. Detroit land was like
"man fuck all that shit just take every dimension in our mechanical drawing and just multiply it by 2"
Did that really happen? No. But it is essentially what happened.
So, for that reason, americans are more accustomed to larger displacement engines.
So, instead of having a smaller engine that revs high, with transmission gearing that allows the engine to sustain higher RPMS -- automakers will take an engine design and they'll increase the stroke (and usually increase the deck height).
And they will pair that engine with increased stroke with gearing where it sustains lower, overall gearing. So that its not buzzing (sustaining higher RPMs) as high
Corvette engines that rev high are different in that they're already enormous engines, that have essentially been tricked out to the max with high flowing heads, large lift cams
This is a "final drive".
It is the ring and pinion on a transaxle (FWD vehicles have the transmission + differential) in one unit.
The smaller gear is just an auxillary gear that drives an oil pump. Ignore that
The number of gear teeth on the ring and pinion determine the final drive ratio.
I am not joking when I say this
I've been banned from facebook groups for saying this. They didn't want to believe that their new Civic Type R was just a small iteration in development for Honda
I don't want to take over this chat so much that you guys don't feel comfortable conversing amongst yourselves
Lol don't tell those guys that Porsche has been iterating the 911 for 3 decades and it's one of the best supercars out there
And definitely don't tell them Chevy has been iterating the small block for like 70 years and now it's one of the most well known engines in the world
Fresh ahh old honda ew1,
It's a 1.5l 2 barrel carbureted motor
From the factory it made a whole 76hp at 5500rpm and 84ftlbs of torque at 3500rpm
Whoa
84-87 is earlier than anything I've got experience with.
I started learning with 1988-2000 D series.
Gotta love parking for your break having used 4h29m out of 4h30m of your driving time.
80s single cams sure are something
I just bought 2 more 1st gen Rex's last night
One of them came with that motor
It's getting high comp pistons, a d15a1 exhaust manifold, and itbs that's it
@hollow pasture scroll up and read my previous posts
don't listen to him, it's an ecoboost. 9000%
Yeah, they're street cars so they have gas saver gears. Corvettes have legendarily long gearing because GM engines have terrible volumetric efficiency
But gobs of torque
True but that's also a supercar. I was limiting the discussion to sports cars because otherwise we could get some REAL whacky engines in here
i've been holding onto this footage since October of 2019 i found it all on a flashdrive that was on the ground. big ups to the person who stole our cat hopefully you find it quality
I dont mean the ford gt
I meant mustang gt
Oh. Yeah that's what I meant with "Coyote". Coyote is the name of the 2012+ Mustang GT Engine
And that gets 7500RPM anyway
Doesnt it only rev to 7000
That was the earlier SOHC Modular V8s. The Coyotes starting in 2012 were DOHC and redline at 7500

obvi it doesn't count for this conversation but with a top end these can do 9k pretty easily too
Big cam, VCT deleted Coyote pulling some RPM. Top end/ valvetrain are built, rotating assembly and PCM stock, 93 octane pump gas.
@stiff bloom you wanna know a fun fact about cobalts
do I have a choice? Usually you don't give me one
no
the lsj idk about the lnf
in the stock ecu the max rpm you can set the rev limit to is 8300rpm
i forget what mines at. i havent hit it in a long time
probably 65-7200
https://youtu.be/Q0do78JjQxI?t=1 @stiff bloom
Revs to the moon and sounds flawless!
ls is always the best
What about the new Bugatti V16 engine
i think its actually like 10500rpm
lmao 12k ok sure bud
yeah this at most
the buick 3800 also sounds like 2jz at 8k
Still insane outta a pushrod dinosaur tho
Testing a new trans in the turbo GP GT. I went wide open throttle at 80mph and finished at 135mph and 8000 RPM.
most things do I think haha
it goes from gtr v6 to 2jz
oh he's got equal length headers
Our race car uses a 3.4 rollercam with unequals and at 7k it sounds like that ford gte race car lmao
lmao
3.8s sounf fucking nasty with a cam in them
v6 with small block energy

that itsy bitsy pulley doesn't hurt either lmao
i always hated how sad and tired the m90 sounds
lmao
diswon yesssssssssssssssssss
I completely forgot about these videos I made during a test session Ford Chip Ganassi Racing did in 2018 at Monza Circuit. There were a couple of WEC GTEs and an IMSA GTLM car.

Microphone by the intake inside the engine bay. With a 2.9 pulley on a tvs 1320. Slow pull to capture the sweet sounds of the tvs
agree to disagree on that one, I have yet to hear a roots supercharger or ts supercharger or procharger that doesn't sound identical to every other identical layout one
liiiiiiterally same man, rpm is just higher on this one than in the fiero
the music nerds would call you tone deaf
I think the difference you're interpreting is just the way the sound plays with the I4 even fire vs V6 odd fire
interesting considering i am one
@0:13, its the same tone as in the fiero. It just goes way higher
The fiero is in the 350hz range
The tvs is close to 2k hz
That is not the same
lmfao what are you even talking about, that graph doesn't tell you anything in this context. this is 350hz. The fiero supercharger doesn't sound anywhere near that pitch.
This is a 350 Hz sound for audio tests. The sine wave's frequency is 350 Hertz with an amplitude of -3 dB. The signal was digitally created.
#350Hz #350Hertz #TestTone
I'll make you up a comparison when I get some time, but otherwise we're defo just gonna have to agree to disagree
playing this video and the fiero video side by side i can hear the sounds harmonizing at certain rpms so it is in the 350hz range
Alright dude
Why does it sound sad
cause its clapped
They start to sound sad when the coating on the rotors wears off the edges of the rotor
Whats are your thoughts on this car?
Do not the
Just letting u know i forgot to say this its in aud
Not usd
Fuck the F10
Imho the worst of the M5s
Also in general used BMWs are not for the faint of heart
you will be spending a healthy amount of money to make it nice
Personaly i think the older bmw’s look really nice and dont need alot externally
Definitely looks better then what bmw is doing nowadays with the giant kidneys
Honestly the F10 is the second worst looking gen
Second to the G90
But still
That car will need thousands of dollars poured into it to make it mechanically sound most likely
I wouldn't buy an F10 in general unless you
A) enjoy working on BMWs
B) really like the S63... for some reason
that looks insanely overpriced
Its in aud so about 40k usd
Ohh lol makes sense
How are you in Australia and looking at this junk when you have an endless ocean of holden V8 cool shit kicking around
Ah
Speaking of rpms
I wanna cam my engine, after i get smt like a 4l80
Or build up my 4l60
Lmao so basically middle life crisis
Waffle House cam 😭😭
Can I get a fact check
is it true the inside wheel turns more than the outside one? Wouldn’t that cause more tread wear because they’re going in different directions?
You have learned why cars have differentials
yeah you basically have the explanation there, if you draw a circle from the center of rotation they are on the correct angle for not scrubbing.
look at ackerman stuff, useful to know when making shitty little karts.
roughly drawn
Aaaaw Bazza what've you dooone
No no I mean the actual degree the front wheels steer
bro got FUCKED
L⭕⭕p
You're not running the stock 8.8 in there are you?
Stock housing yes, 31 spline axles and a locker
Cool, I was going to ask if you run a spool or locker in there. What are you running locker wise, and did you do a c-clip eliminator or no?
Strange 31 spline spool, and moser axles
Moser c clip eliminators as well
Pretty built then. Those axles are pretty beefy when they're built
She’s built just about right, but been driving a lot of street miles so am setting rid of the spool for a ford performance trac lock
I've gone down the limited slip route before and it wasn't great -- at least for my application. It was a Detroit Trutrack so different product too
For rock crawling it was just too much wheel spin before it engaged. I've been pretty happy with e-lockers. I've ran a detroit locker as well, I would think you'd have too much slamming from it though
You probably have more constant grip than my application though, so maybe the trac lock is better
Do you run a cage in it too?
i mean it is called a limited slip, its supposed to slip for a bit.
lockers are the way to go for crawling/offroading
this needs a lil bit of DLSS
aw bummer that's an old account (opened 2018). We lost a veteran, gents
huh
rest in peace
sorry had to do some redactin
A story in 2 parts
Lmfao
"Check out how quick my car is!"
Lmfaooooooo unreal
That’s insane
wouldn’t a trailer immediately do that gojng on any bumps?
Or am I understanding that wrong
my hitch is also rated for 75kg that pretty normal, but i believe its more for the driving style so it isnt doing this
The cons of just slapping a production diff in and not ordering custom
Not that any of us can afford custom
But a custom lsd could be built with the right pre load and all that crap to work perfectly with your shitbox
So a normal person standing on the hitch will damage it lmao
It wasn't just the hitch though right? Like didn't a portion of the frame break off?
I swear he drop tested the f150 in a later video in a similar way and it survived
Didn't a big piece of cast aluminum rip off
Basically. I'm a featherweight 170lb 6' and apparently I'd damage it
Yeah the frame literally shattered
He did, in fact he dropped the truck straight on its hitch several dozen times in a row, enough to bend the frame at the cab, but not enough to snap it
Today, I brutally prove people wrong.

Yepppp, in fact in the original WD video they receive a message from a friend who saw a single axle boat trailer snap the hitch off of the CT and run into the back of the truck

Yo I have an old Hyundai santro with a 1.1l SOHC 4 cyl engine, I want to know if I have to replace the clutch plate or something else, when I'm releasing the clutch at the bite point there are insane vibrations and the car does not pull in 5th gear of it's below 3k rpm
Shifts are smooth
Only slow starts are bad
What rpm do the vibrations happen at when you're setting off
5th gear 3k rpm is that a new issue or is it just a slow car
I can't pull away with clutch only so I add revs to about 1500 to 2000
The car is 21 years old
It is meant to produce 65 bhp
Around 90 nm torque
based on the way you're saying it this is abnormal, but to me it sounds like regular behavior for this kind of engine 😅
any case those two problems (clutch shuddering and low power below 3k) sound mostly unrelated
The low power sounds normal? Unless it's a new thing? The shuddering sounds like your pressure plate is going. If you try to slip it while the car is rolling, does it do the same thing, or only from a standstill?
Its a 93 geo tracker new starter altinater sparkplugs wires cap an rotor
Thoughts on what it could be
Are you getting fuel? Things to test in order of least-to-most complicated:
- Fuel in tank?
- Fuel lines not broken?
- Pull a plug or two, are they wet?
- Fuel pump working?
- Carb or injectors working?
If any of the answers to the above questions are "no", stop and fix those then test again.
isn't Whistlin Diesel a bit of a racist
Probably? Idk tho, I've literally only seen little snippets of his vids other than the 2 cybertruck ones. Nothing racist that I've seen, but he is also obnoxious in plenty of other ways. Wouldn't put it past him.
He makes spotto seem reserved
yeah i heard he said some shit about BLM
Oh. Well I absolutely believe that based on his demographics alone lmao
I can't find anything by Googling "Whistlin Diesel BLM" so
But I still would believe it
yeah like i said i heard something about it... i honestly don't pay attention to that kind of drama nore watch him so idk
Yeah same. As I mentioned I think he's obnoxious, but also if I was in his position I can't say I wouldn't be just as obnoxious? Definitely thrives off of outragebait which I almost certainly would not embrace tho
like why not have the cover rolled up and put the lumber in like the truck next to him
Well to buy a CT it's a prerequisite to have <20 brain cells, so naturally it would follow that someone who fits that criterion would also not make the easy and obvious solution
like not only is the truck and the people that made it are literally idiots but it seems so are those wh bought them
ye what you said

Hey hey hey I will actually go to bat for Tesla engineers. Making this abomination function at all is nothing short of a miracle
The designers are the ones who should be shot
and/or project managers
am pretty sure if like anyone else made this... fuck even a company like GM could have made it better
and that's saying ALOT
Well I'm pretty sure they just wouldn't make it. Cuz, yknow, they know a shit idea from a not-shit one
add Musk for good measure in there to
🤣
Yeah he's just a project manager in a fancy suit
Exhibit A/ They built two not-shit ideas already in the time it took Tesla to build half a shit one
NOW, are the HummEVr and SilEVrado dumb and overpriced? Absolutely
BUT, they are good cars. Unrepairable and software-locked cars, sure. But not shit at least
And you lived to tell the tale?
it's at our service department
Oh that explains it
i work at a GM dealer and body shop
yeah that explains it
ACTUALLY WAIT i take it back, have they figured out how to make those not shit the bed randomly?
Shout out to proprietary softwar- ohwait.
probably not
womp womp
haven't seen a Hummer EV here yet
sooo that's probably a good sign
or there just so damn expensive no one has them
Yeah GM does a cool thing roughly every 20 years and then spends the interim 16 years discontinuing it and trying to figure out why people dont like all the other slop
ye
I've seen em around, one did an incredibly dangerous but also badass U turn within a 2 lane intersection
like how the fuck is Chrysler the one always going bankrupt out of the big 3 when GM is the way that they is
GM only gets away with it because their european divisions are full of rational sensible people who build fun cars
Meanwhile Chrysler has.... nothing
naaw they've got Dodge ok
In fact, they keep having to get bought out by rational-ish sensible-ish people who build fun-ish cars
Lmfao oh yeah those guys, remind me how many vehicles they make?
One?
2
It's just the challenger now right?
shhh
See?

but for srs how many cars do they have that you can buy brand new from a dealer rn?
the comments are a gold mine
😑 lmfao
that's actually insane
i was looking it up out of curiosity, apprently the TRX has a 1350lb tongue weight limit 😭
Yeah. The theory is that it's just a catchall so that they absolutely cannot be sued for literally anything related to this wimpy underbuilt thing. Like obviously people have it loaded way higher than that and its "fine", but to put a warning about that pathetically low of an amount speaks to how sleazy they are
damn that also seems way low, but those off road trucks always have really low capacities right? Raptor is like 1800 I think? And it tows like 1/2 what a normal f150 can?
hmmm might be fake?
oh idk i think the trx is like 8k lbs
Eh I guess, but they also haven't corrected it or even made a statement?
I don't think so
Like if i was Tesla PR and I read that I'd be in PANIC ALERT mode
right? but didn't elon musk fire the pr department lol
just looked it up, raptor is 8200 while normal 150 maxes out at 15k
point being yeah, off road trucks have real light capacities
Oh did he really do that? I thought even for him that was so dumb of a thing it must be fake
Ohh mb got it mixed up with twitter
Oh right, i forgot about that part. But my statement still stands. Waow
https://electrek.co/2020/10/06/tesla-dissolves-pr-department/ oh shit wait no they're both true statements
FUCKIN NO WAY
😭 happened in 2020
jesus fucking christ this shit is why brand loyalty is a cancer. The fact that they have "fans" at all after shit like this is DAMNING
But apple and tesla have proven again and again that so long as you can build a fucking CULT, it literally doesn't matter what you do you'll still turn a profit. And when you interweave your company's workings with the stock market deeply enough you can make money just by saying shit on the internet
It's goddamn genius
hmm i guess that 160lb screenshot is fake this is off the tesla website under the cybertruck
actually it looks like it's just a different section
oh what the hell
how is tongue weight not the same thing? it's just a vertical load
Which is it? WHO CARES, you schmucks are going to buy it anyway 🙃
😭
*The tongue weight is the downward force that the weight of the trailer exerts on the hitch. It must not exceed 10% of the maximum towing capacity.
^It looks like this is just a boilerplate statement? It's literally just 10% of the "rated towing capacity" as stated^
Towing Capacity: 11k. 10% of that equals: 1.1k.
♫Ta-daaaaaaaaa♫
I'm a engineer nao
i still don't get why there's a difference from the force being a bike rack or a trailer, like they're both coming off the back with gravity pulling it down
look say what you will about them but at least they swing for the fences with like the Demon, hellcat, the Viper SRT...
(at least by tesla standards. I am a for real actual engineer)
maybe with a bike rack there's more leverage which is the problem? idk lmao this is weird asf
Me either. They prolly shouldn't have fired their PR department
Lol
its not a joke i just heard some shit
Hey I mean no hate against Dodge. They go fuckin NUTS with EVERYTHING. I LOVE it.
But I just also really REALLY don't want to buy it
yeah im a Mopar girl at heart
i know it wasn't it's just unnecessary
I'm a closeted Moparer. I love em but I'll never admit it
awha?
Fun fact: When I got my HHR I was cross shopping PT Cruiser GTs
In hindsight I'm glad I went with the Chev. But also part of me did want a PTConvertible
Even tho they're abysmal
bru
You dumb fish that's not even 360p
whuh
gay feesh
can gay peepl not count to 4k

oh better stay away from kanye
man that joke aged really really really good
lmao i never plan on being near him ever xD
because they're awesome
excellent plan. In general tbh
are they?
just weird it went 180 from "the cybertruck is weak compared to other trucks and this guy proved it" to "that guy's a racist right??"
ill give it to you they's a acquired taste
your making it more of a thing by saying it's weird

are they?
BISH (=bitch+fish, i know i'm a genius hold your applause)
Do I have to REPOST
well FUQ u im doing it anyway
i mean i don't care about space... or gas mileage that much. plus i like sedans and coups more then hatches
because somehow within the past few years people think that's normal but whatever
Well ok but also those are objective performance metrics
a lift back is as far as I'll go to liking hatches
if you keep all other variables the same, increasing any one of the following:
- Space
- Fuel Economy
- Speed
- Smallness
- Safety
makes a car objectively better
ill give you that its not bad... but i rather a sexy piece of German steal or American muscle
Them's sexy too, they're also just worse hatches
like i said i don't like hatchbacks that much
phair. If they make that Mustang Sedan or Shooting brake I'ma preorder so hard you don't even know
absolutely. And that's completely fair. It's just that objectively they're great.
The only downsides are (depending on preference) style, (sometimes) visibility and (sometimes) price
Can we at least agree that Coupe SUVs are the worst?
them's facts
It's a shame it's gonna weigh nearly 6000lbs
meh
And have the stupid fake exhausts
is whatever its not like I'll ever be able to afford one
me too
🥲
Don't they start at like $70k?
FML
How the heck do you search for car parts for doing stuff like deleting engines? All of the strings I've put into search engines seem to lead to websites without much information or the same two with no information but the ability to buy a few parts...
What specifically are you trying to do
:(
While rolling at low speeds as well
yes. Who thinks they look nice??? Who is buying them??
I think imma kill the guy who brought this daewoo lagos into the shop when he comes back
Havent seen a more spitefull car in a while
Find your local parts dealer and pay up for their service usualy
Polcar, delmax etc
On the sidenote where the hell did the koreans place the cabin air filter lmao, its as if it dont have one
It doesnt have a cabin filter
Research into doing an EV conversion. I have no idea how you'd find available motors and their specs (size, shape, electrical, cooling and signaling)...
Well it's not people who recognize good value
They often start at higher trims
but that's a lot of extra money for a car that's objectively a lot worse
and a lot uglier (though the Cayenne coupe isn't quite so ugly)
the GLE Coupe is like one of the ugliest new cars on sale today
the Q4 Etron Sportback is uggo and all
Well yeah but that's because they didn't change much
Makes me yearn for the days of the x5m
Which is never a sentence I thought I'd say
Chrysler 300 is nice
True
Swap is ready to go in my rex
I mean it's definitely beaten by the XM. WHich is objectively one of the ugliest AND stupidest cars you can buy
you're stinky
also the snoot designer is now at Rolls Royce
@fair moon you don't have to deal with the traffic from all the US factory workers changing shift every morning :(
Shits tragic
Absolutely. We definitely in agreement. I actually miss the x5m, it looks way better than most modern attempts
Oh hey look it's the only thing worse than a couple suv: a convertible suv
Please ignore how I just said I wanted a pt Cruiser convertible thx ❤️
Oh god
I actually think it makes sense. Their whole thing has always been h o o g grilles
Plus all the owners don't give a flying fuck what it looks like so long as it's imposing. Win win
There are any that have survived?

ye it was on the road plus i saw the rang rover version
or something similar
I thought between the used Nissan consumer base being what it is and the great Demuroening of 2017 that they had all been either destroyed or locked away for speculative purposes
whuh
OH right the other Demuro special
ye
The evoque or whatever
both with the tops down
talk about 2 car types i like the least
convertibles and crossovers
I ran out of up arrows
what an unholy combination. The fact that they keep failing is one of the last vestiges of hope I have in humanity
lol yeah
though the fact that they keep trying is starting to test my patience
I assume we're okay with SUVs that have removable roofs though?
I too love spending several thousand dollars on a late 2010s German vehicle that definitely has no horrific leaks or maintenance problems :)
I'm lying bmw is plastic waste
Who tf thought a plastic oil pump was a good idea
Hey it's a genius idea
How else are you gonna get people to subscribe to oil pumps without making them mad with a subscription fee?
it's almost as genius as tesla's "batteries inside the chassis" plan
So did I, just yesterday
Underside of the average audi older than 5 years old
It's not plastic
well not all of it
Trash garbage, this vehicle doesn't even have 150k miles and it's eating 2qts of oil between oil changes
Also most of the motors don't have really big issues with the oil pump
That's like within spec lmao
also oil pump won't cause that
I'm not saying just the oil pump will homie
what engine
I mean it was kinda implied...
I'm saying in general almost all German cars are designed to fail in the dumbest ways possible
Built to break not to repair
Ask a 996 owner about failing in dumb ways and not mention ims challenge (impossible)
Like I was saying this shit doesn't even have 150k miles yet
Leaks
Everywhere
My daily from 1986 with 270k miles doesn't even leak a qt between 5k mile oil changes
If the engineering is so great why is the efficiency so garbage
WHAT FUCKING ENGINE
Also mileage ≠ possibility of leaks
If it's some 20 year old engine yeah it's gonna leak
its a anti rust feature
No it's innovative, you don't need to change oil if you ahve to replace it all by the time the interval runs around
Generally speaking most actually don't leak oil
it's common to burn like a quart or so every 3,000 mi or so
The stupid ass na v6
So an audi
It's a 2011 a3
so the burning oil is probably valve seals then
Burning?
just audis being audis
It's on the outside of the motor
you said you were burning oil?
.
I would never own a German vehicle lmao
cope & seethe i guess
That's a customers car I used as an example of how garbage the quality over time is
A new audi or Mercedes or bmw
Awesome cars
my car (2013) needs some random ass bulb replaced and it has a random miss after 3 hours on the track
The second they hit 100+k you run into some fun stuff
👍
now granted it does need a timingchain every 80-90,000mi
K20 has oil starvation issues on the track
Don't have too but I'm too scared to risk my internals
Fuck k
D or B babeeee
I'm also extremely partial to h series
what d/b series
the cars attached to them are all rotted out
The words "honda" and "rust protection" don't belong in the same sentence
The rest of my cars are rust free
Yall deal with rust?
cuz they're covered in oil?
No because I actually pay attention to my maintenance
yeah i was joking
Suboptimal
Previous owner(s) evidently did not know that spare was a thing because it was
very dirty
I love rust belt shit
Rest of the car is fine
That's the funny part
It was just the spare and one or two suspension bits that were unusually bad for a 11 year old car
And a lot of rock chips on the hood
Here's my other honda, full energy suspension bushing kit, progress tech coils, progress tech front and rear sway bar, and strut tower braces, full adjustable brake prop valve, big brake kit, 15 gal fuel cell running e85, this is what the turbo z6 is going in
h o n d a
a turboed B/D16 in my car would fix all of the issues
Whatchu got?
a R56 mini
Lol
No turbo
it's a 2013
Swaps are expensive for these because you have to rewire half the car lmao
I love how easy it is to swap motors in hondas
Especially with rywire subharnesses
Omg it's a breeze
I’m planning on 302-swapping my Bronco II, I’m just gonna get a whole donor truck off Copart
Would be literal hell getting things like tacho and fly-by-wire throttle and push to start working
Makes it easier
I couldn't ever imagine not having cable throttle
I can
I do not fuck with drive by wire :(
Oh and electric ps
Whats power steering lmao
Electronic power steering, oh hell no
Ok but unironically the electric ps on these cars is the one thing that never breaks
That
Is actually valid
I hate that
The first gen cars had tons of power steering issues lmao
@hexed kayak
It's nice to not have to worry about doing coolant flushes and worrying about the pump dying or a line just committing sudoku
Can yall shit on these ugly ass wheels I got for free with my kart chassis
Was losing all power intermittently on the highway last night 😍
Jeffery pesos to save the day
I need to fix my seat tho
For whatever reason the back adjustment is loose so whenever i hit a bump (very often) i can feel it move
where we're going, we don't need power seats
The new full-size Bronco having a removable top actually makes sense though because the old ones also did
Also
Fuck BMW for these shitass wiper blade hooks
Literally cannot find them anywhere
Except online
They changed the hook for 2013 and then F56 (2014) went back to the old design
Because Ford was actually trying to bring the Bronco back, not slapping the name on some random car like GM did with the Blazer and calling it a day.
Oh god GM
GM did the blazer dirty
They love painstakingly building all this brand image over decades and then destorying it with one fell swoop thirty years later
The blazer went from a legendary truck to a pathetic disposable suv.
Damn. Volvo falling off.
But not a surprise with the engine options they had for the NA market. Lots of T8 with that hybrid turbo/supercharger.
i love how GM isn't even in the top 10
also technically BMW is twice in the top 10 since mini is owned by BMW
bru i wasn't talking about late 2010's Beemers
early 2000's is as far as anyone should go when it comes to them
but that's more or less a trend that's been happening to the rest of the world as well
wtf
its called thee inshitification of everything thanks to late stage capitalism
"pReDiCtEd ReLiAbIlItY sCoReS"
fuck right off with that
lol
That kind of shit is why Hyunday can win all sorts of "awards" (really paid promotions) for "iNiTiAl QuAlItY" and yet completely be falling apart by 35kmi
How the fuck is BMW of all brands so far up
[Because it means nothing](#cars message)
no lmao they're great cars. Just horrible to maintain
Link won’t open
not if you've got the money and or know what your doing
Oh it's just a link to this message
at least for the older ones
it's because predicted reliability score is a nonsense nothingburger of a marketing term designed to at best confuse and at worst flat out trick consumers into buying pieces of garbage. Just like Initial Quality and really any JD Power award
I mean being able to maintain something doesn't make the thing not horrible to maintain
I know people that just throw money at Northstar Cadillacs and love them as cars but still admit that they're shit to maintain
(anecdotally of course)
You shouldn’t have to go out and drive for a few minutes just to check your oil MERCEDES
Or was that BMW, I don’t fucking remember anymore
gods i hate discords gif system so badly
like most of my faved gifs won't load or when they do they grind everything to a crawl
On PC it's okay but yeah on mobile it's abysmal
its Mercedes
Both
oh its only ok but like 1%
wha
You mean the app's mostly good?
I make the mistake of using it on a tablet sometimes, that's a truly miserable experience all around
yeah but the difference between a Northstar Cadillac and a BMW is that a BMW is good
no i mean its all shit
That's quite a comparison you've drawn there
o
Would rather own a Caddy over a Beamer
I respectfully disagree on most parts. I think it's generally alright. But I can defo see where you're coming from
hey that's what you said
yes and have GM build "quality" interiors
also casting a pretty wide net, I could see it both ways
I don’t even like Caddilac, I’m only really partial to GM trucks because I grew up around a ‘96 C2500
G80 can gtfo fugly looking pig nose
Well I was more using it as a point of comparison for people and liking them vs them being shit at some particular things...

Like some bmws are shit, Most northstars are shit, but to compare the two directly without a buffer misses the point a lil id argue
look ima start to get childish up in here if you don't stop making good points xD
lmao meanwhile cadillac has nothign that runs on the GMT800/900/K2 platforms
Oh wait Escalade
Then what will have changed? :3

G80 has grown on me
oh god the gawr is comin out
You're forgetting the E60 and E87/82
see now ima never take you seriously ever again because your objectively wrong
you're*
and no i'm not
Man down. We've lost him to the G80. Rip in piece
yuh huh
The Escalade and Escalade EXT, AKA a Chevy Avalanche and GMC Yukon
the G80 has really grown on me
And that's a good thing because mechanically that thing is goated
The G90 can go to hell
Look all they had to do was put a line thru where the plate goes
That's 70000000x better
No, but it's about eighty squillion times better
Yes it does
No it doesn't
We've lost him, who signed the dnr. He thinks this doesn't look that bad
yeah but the imporant parts are the same
This is
Okay yes great, but the horrible parts are unchanged
The G80 is better everywhere but the snoot
The snoot could be better
side profile and rear are both peak
WHOA okay, you definitely lost me there too now. I think the G80 looks good everywhere but the face, but not peak
Meanwhile the face is just completely unforgiveably heinous
for this era? it's certainly one of the better looking brand new cars
To each their own
This era is boring but has some definite winners. To bring back cadillac, CT4V Blackwing anyone?
like it... it just hurts my brain to look at
F80 was peek modern BMW then they fell sooo gods damn hard with the G80
well compared to you?
I don't know how one could be this blind
E80?
PFFFFFF are you actually kidding me. This is the guy who says the G80 isn't that bad
and goes so far as to say it's PEAK in some areas
E60
idk after the E46 i get fuzzy on my BMW chassis codes
ah ok
REGARDLESS, the design language is similar and that's the important part
RIGHT
not even remotely
Alright lmao
The E60 is way curvier
I've heard of this guy who was putting the G80 front on E39's
like... why
AND HE'S SOLD A LOT of them
I respectfully disagree , but i also don't care that much so this is the last i'm gonna say bout it

Alright well at least i picked the same color for my comparisons
When you use the FLAKIEST silver vs gloss white in different lighting conditions it goes a long way to change the perceived "curviness"
But the italian kid + chris bangle at least did the E60 justice if idiots get them confused - the e60 is some 500 to a thousand pounds heavier
Jeez really? Ig that makes sense tho
Tho the new 5 series is gonna be almost 6klb too rite?
the e60 is like maybe 4300lbs on the high end which is significantly heavier than the e90 was for the most part
holy moley, and the e9x was the heaviest 3 series ever (up until the g8x)
Seen the Ring Taxi that used the M3 as a base?
Although if I had to choose
what in gods green earth is this fugly thing
like they actually followed the previous up with that G80
at least they put the license plate on the front
anyone who doesn't is doing a disservice to humanity
Btw, there's a cage in that car. And the rear seats are replaced with buckets.
Saw an older Lotus today as well.
at least until the f1 came out

Also a fun fact for you
the E31 was also hated on at the time
now it's considered a classic
I don't think a single person would call it "good"
i like the DeLorean ok
cmon, you know it's true
<~<
Very much true.
But 'classic' cars are a lot more analog than anything made in the last 10-15 years.
the e31 is a good looking car
id make mine the time machine from back to the future
Parts of it has every right to be admired.
Other parts, not so much.
also: poor handling, unreliable (esp for the time), expensive, and not fast
But it was also one of the first bimmers with multilink rear suspension and CANBUS
But sexy and with a bunch of cool tech
lets not talk about the engine ok
among a lot of other stuff
That V12 fucks hard

Mmmmm yes, OBD1 CANBUS

Also
sure, just a shame it doesn't make that much power for its immense weight and complexity
CANBUS?
6 speed with an LSD
dude right
there's no way bmw is anywhere close to mazda
Again, shame that crazy advanced tech didn't make it handle well
or honda
the communication bus
its basically computerized sensors talking to the computer
Unheard of for the early 90s
lmao you mean to say if the Mazda can stop rusting so fast yeah
The B38/B48 is bulletproof
Only issues they have are motor mounts
rusting?
yeah you heard me
Amazing expose on the 8 series
This is the history of the BMW E31 8-series, including a special M8 model that lacked any M badging. The 850CSi received the same M-treatment as the E36 M3, but nobody knows it was, legally, an M8.

The E31-chassis ...
Honda build quality has fallen off a cliff in recent years
Ditto for toyota
Where do they rust
Why is this the only reason people have heard of the E31 and like it now
Y'all really be NPCs
Lmao I've been fighting you on it the whole time
EVERYWHERE
It's a well done video
Hey at least it's not that one restomod
like cmon y'all have to have heard of it before that
I saw that so many fucking times I was gonna scream
The E31+E60 fucks
you can't deny it
Yeah but also WE GET IT lmao
that's not where i heard about it
31- for the number of parts cars you'll have to own to keep one running

actually the M70 v12 is very robust
what years?
Well half of it is
get it? Because it's 2 M20s
booooo
So half of it is guaranteed to be working at any given time
I'd argue it's closer to two M30s but yeaj

I just posted what Wiki said
But yeah the one flaw with it is the two ECUs
2 words stand alone
because they couldn't power all twelve cylinders off one ecu from the time
ask me how i know
so yeah it just makes troubleshooting electrical issues a pain in the ass
