Lol I just done the same to one my XUD manifolds, most of mine are non EGR to begin with.

#

my currently standby spare engines.

#

big durbo one on the right should be swapped into a car soon to immediately blow up

#

The Xantia or "FMIC" style manifold you have is quite desirable, I have 4 of them but dont generally use them as they interfere with master cylinder on 305's specifically. Instead use tmic manifolds with adapter for a hose.

Although I dont know how much the light turbo heads can take, along with I think they have N/A head bolts so would lift the head instantly.

#

I have one sitting on a shelf I will fit it someday and see if I can prove or disprove that they will get turned into a banana under heavy boost, the theory that people share is they are made of a inferior alloy to the proper turbo heads.

i could also try it but it needs to run for 2years or so after that i dont care anymore, because this engine is a little to heavy for what i want in this car im looking for a alu 2.0l turbo engine but its gonna be expensive

Not a PSA engine then? I am curious on these is your bellhousing made to fit the XU style engine or does it have an adapter plate.

#

Its what like £300-400 to bring a car into the Isle of Man?

misty imp
#

but traditionally it can cost up to 1k to bring a car from across

#

you have to get it registered here, do the vehicle inspection which is like MOT but much more involved and expensive

#

you also have to pay taxes on the import + car tax

#

189 flat for the test

#

depending on the port and whatever, one way ticket from the UK can cost like 300 with a car

#

you also have to pay for the person bring the car over

#

which wildly ranges from 100 to 200+

#

it's also very very time consuming

#

however the benefits are, no MOT and decent insurance

I don't mean to come across as pessimistic but it's pretty unlikely: this is par for the course with brands. It's really about misappropriation.

Every fucking PEF or investor MUST see money in absolutely everything. Hoonigan never made money because that wasn't the point. Same with Donut, same with Jalopnik, Kotaku, Reddit, Twitter. They buy it and when they realize there's no money they fill it with garbage and dump it.

These firms are convinced they can pad their portfolios with this shit and nothing else. It's goddamn depressing.

dusky bobcat
#

I meant more that it’s not the right size

stiff bloom

you'll have to wire in some resistors to get the power tuned correctly for the car speakers

hexed kayak
stiff bloom
#

it's a hyperbole lmao

stiff bloom
hexed kayak
stiff bloom
dusky bobcat
#

32v too so it would have to burn like 60% of the volts too

hexed kayak
stiff bloom
#

Also the preamp for a sub would be pretty different. You could make some modifications to your amp and sub but that would take some mathenin' haha

#

It could be done, but man that sounds like a lot of work for a very expensive and not very good system LMAOri

hexed kayak
stiff bloom
dusky bobcat
#

Wouldn’t a 1000w amp be like, a little overkill…

stiff bloom
#

yeah, most cars use well under 400W

dusky bobcat
stiff bloom
#

for the whole system, under 150 for any sub

dusky bobcat
#

My car was built before subwoofers

dusky bobcat

800w for a whole car??

stiff bloom
#

i mean you'll never push that if you're a sane person, but the speakers are usually rated that high or higher

#

Oh yeah

dusky bobcat
#

Wtf

stiff bloom
#

Again, most amps don't push that

dusky bobcat
#

That’s actually insane, never knew they pulled that much

stiff bloom
#

Again its theoretical, they could

#

but a vast majority of the time they don't

dusky bobcat
#

Makes sense

hexed kayak
#

Its really not. Its common fact that audio systems sound like ass running at peak power. Thats why you run kore power than you need

hexed kayak
dusky bobcat
#

Don’t think Id ever run anywhere near that

stiff bloom
#

yeah

dusky bobcat
stiff bloom
#

Nor really an amp at all

dusky bobcat
#

Also I hate you :)

stiff bloom
#

If you care sure you can get another amp, but I recommend using the one built into whatever stereo you go with

#

And if you find that isn't enough you can use it as a preamp to a more powerful solution

hexed kayak
dusky bobcat
stiff bloom
#

I think you're skipping a couple of steps m8, he doesn't need to care about the wattage yet

dusky bobcat
stiff bloom
dusky bobcat
#

Why do the single dins all look stupid asf or have a remote controller

#

I’m not buying a controller for my car stereo

stiff bloom
#

can't answer that one for ya LMAOri

dusky bobcat
hexed kayak
stiff bloom
#

Well subs do need their own amps regardless unless you get a really expensive stereo

#

That makes no sense. Not running at max power doesn't mean you have more bass

hexed kayak
stiff bloom
#

What you said earlier about sounding better (meaning "clearer" or "less distorted") at less % power used? Absolutely, 100% accurate

hexed kayak
stiff bloom
#

Yep, that's what mine's doing!

hexed kayak
stiff bloom
#

"Distortion is not bass and speakers running at max power only distort bass" what in the name of all that is paradoxes LMAOri

#

Yes it is true that you will notice bass distortion first, but that is a product of the speaker and its design/construction, not the power budget. Power budget will affect many frequencies simultaneously, not just bass

hexed kayak
#

that is not bass

#

thats noise

stiff bloom
dusky bobcat
#

They’re ok but 27 years old they’re not gonna be great

#

Biggest issue is both of my cassette converters sound like shit and make weird noises when I go through areas without 5g and I’m not sure why

stiff bloom
#

Uhhhhh not sure about that one. May have something to do with bluetooth? They're bluetooth cassettes I assume?

dusky bobcat
#

The same light I hit every single day and it makes crackling noises

dusky bobcat
#

All wired, no idea why

stiff bloom
dusky bobcat
#

Yeah…

#

It shouldn’t break because the cell service or location 😭

stiff bloom
#

maybe has to do with the encoding. I can't be sure but I'm also not particularly well informed on this particular topic. is it usually streamed music?

#

or downloaded stuff?

dusky bobcat
#

All downloaded

#

Same few lights, every single time

stiff bloom
#

Ah

dusky bobcat
#

And i can fix it by holding the connector at a certain angle 😂

stiff bloom
#

It's clearly aliens then 😛

stiff bloom
#

But you say its only when you lose 5G?

dusky bobcat
#

My only theory is they’re all by schools, so I think they have something to slow cell data and its messing with the connection between two shitty connectors

hexed kayak
#

@stiff bloom @dusky bobcat Heres a perfect example of more max power equaling less stress on parts and better sound
This is 6 speakers 4 tweeters 2 subs
About 2500w in speakers and 4000w worth of subs

Its only ever actually pulling 2500w combined and aside from the car itself rattling it sounds amazing

stiff bloom
#

that sounds whacky

dusky bobcat

It’s really weird

And it’s in small dead zones

its really not that bad in terms of time. 3 of the cars are cobalts and ive got video proof of me changin the oil on one in under 4 mins from start to end

thats 4 cars oil changed in under 30 mins

I just see it as Tesla's taken a massive dump in quality, image, and customer base

#

(not that their quality was ever anything to begin with LMAOri )

civic spoke
stiff bloom
#

Fair, I'm maybe leaning on the Cybertruck as evidence a little too much

I've said this before, Tesla doesn't make cars. They make an ecosystem. It's like apple, and as a result they've cultivated a ravenous obsessed base of fanboys, and their cars are cheap enough (normally) that normies who just want a tool can be convinced by the raving fans before they do enough research to realize they're making a mistake

civic spoke
#

Cybertruck is a fun one, because it won't ever be relevant for the EU market.

stiff bloom
#

Then by the time something goes wrong it's too late, and it's 8 months out till the nearest repair appointment because you can't take them to 3rd party repair places without voiding stuff KEKW

stiff bloom
#

But PR teams gotta PR EyeRollri

civic spoke
#

Very much true.

#

From my eyes, then it's aimed at the influencers.

stiff bloom

Oh absolutely. It's all that, and the image

#

so... influencers LMAOri

civic spoke
#

Those who want the fancy bling bling stuff, be seen. And all of that.

stiff bloom
#

Minirant incoming:

Cybertruck in particular is a hilarious blend of absolutely too enormous for commute duty yet completely inadequately undersized for work duty. Too heavy/inefficient for a consumer truck but too light/incapable for a professional one. Too expensive for a regular car, yet too flimsy for an industrial machine. Too powerful for any application except drag races, in which case what the hell are you even doing?

What a pitiful vehicle.

civic spoke
#

However, some of the stuff that the Cybertruck has, is part of the future.

#

48V system, and all of that jazz.

stiff bloom
#

Yeah like being unrepairable LMAOri

stiff bloom
civic spoke
#

Wouldn't be surprised if more steer-by-wire will come, too.

stiff bloom
#

Yeah, I'm not sure how i feel about sbw. It's not super innovative and it seems like steering and braking are the two systems that really should remain mechanical imo?

#

But you're right it'll absolutely take over

#

Never driven a cybertruck but the variable steering ratio sounds like a nightmare to get used to?

civic spoke
#

We already have brake-by-wire.

stiff bloom
civic spoke
#

I go from a normal car, to a truck with a super slow rack, without any issues.

#

Just don't like the no feedback thing that comes with steer by wire.

stiff bloom
# civic spoke Probably isn't. <:makesyouthink:411393931419451402>

Sure, but you know when you're doing that. It's very obvious when you're in a car with a rack of one speed vs another, so you know to expect that.

In a cybertruck, the car itself decides how fast the rack is on a speed basis and you don't get to know until you turn the wheel. I'm sure it's livable but it seems just so much less intuitive. Even if there was a button or setting you could toggle between different ratios that would be better

#

Like, I have a sim racing setup with a variable steering ratio. It's great, driving rally cars at 700deg is way better than 1200, but street cars are more managable at 1200deg. But if the computer decided for itself what the ratio was going to be on a speed basis it would drive me mad because I'd have to guess and constantly correct for the computer when that really isn't necessary

stiff bloom
civic spoke
#

So if you're going at high speed, and jerk it 90 degrees. Then it should just go "lol, K. Lets fucking go!"

stiff bloom
#

I don't think so. I've seen videos where they turn 90 degrees on the wheel in a parking lot and that's basically max lock, and then they go 90deg on the highway and it steers a few degrees

stiff bloom
#

maybe go karts LMAOri

stiff bloom
# civic spoke I want to see that.

But the variable steering ratio is really what gives it all of its utility So at low speeds The ability to turn really quickly gets dialed up It's a much more responsive feeling steering wheel So if I want to turn right here I only have to give it what half a turn quarter turn and I'm fully maneuvering The way you can pull into parking spots and...

▶ Play video
#

poor video but illustrates the point at least

civic spoke
#

Actually doesn't in my eyes. Sadge

stiff bloom
#

What don't you understand? How the system works?

civic spoke
#

I mean, I understand how variable rack speeds and all of that works.

stiff bloom
#

oh

civic spoke
#

But I still can't find any information of that actually being the case.

stiff bloom
#

You're saying you don't have evidence that Cybertruck has variable ratio steering?

civic spoke
#

Yeah, essentially.

#

Gonna listen to the Out of Spec podcast on it.

stiff bloom
#

Dunno what more evidence I can provide.

#

Well it's a model but still. Sexy ameriparrot120

civic spoke

stiff bloom
