plenty fine : )
I have a 2015 Impala LT, Comfy ass car... Doesn't have Plush Leather like my 82 Cadillac though.... BY FAR the Cadillac is the MOST COMFORTABLE vehicle I own!!! and GOD! It is WONDERFUL!!! Imagine the Old Leather Couch your Uncle/Grandfather had many years ago that you just SUNK into..... IN A CAR!!!!!!!! It is Unbelieveable for anyone that has Never been in an Older* cadillac. I cannot recommend it enough!!! Newer cadillacs don't have plushy leather.... they Mostly use stiff leather just like My 2015 Impala uses... I wish that Instead of stiff leather. I Just had fabric Seats???? Anyone else in that group of people????
*By "older" I mean at least a model made before 2000
Our 1970s international field fire truck is running pretty good for the end of the summer
Our 1970 ford custom cab trying to run this year
Battery issues, over heats and we can’t get the valve to slide over for the water pump
LLooks like it is!!!!!!
GL!!!!!!!
Not touching the batteries just because the cost is about $5,000-$10,000. Valve issues I’m praying the old fire chief is still alive or around lol only person who can look at it. Over heating issues is just the age
Why is battery cost 5-10k?
Big batteries
I don't know how to operate the pump on my truck
When I saw that video it was so surreal
Think of 2/3rd this size and two of them
does anyone know how hard is it to replace a starter on a x3 xdrive m57 engine? (2010)
I have a 71 Chevelle but I can't really daily that. Too many idiots driving
Was going to keep the Toyota 86 stock. New ones have plenty of power
Most unique 86, it's stock lol
Might do something with the oil pick up and maybe an oil cooler though
bastardization
why are people putting these aftermarket radios into the older GM trucks which probably ALREADY HAVE BETTER RADIO FEATURES
a firmware updated 2011 and up Chevy LTZ Heavy Duty has full apple car play and android auto (keyword firmware updated)
similar case for a firmware updated 2008 and up GMC Denali
provided they had the "smart radio" installed in them
Yeah then i don't se the point unless the factory screen sucks or is very low res. The only point to put in aftermarket screen is to get AA/carplay in your car.
@plucky arch take notes you donkey
No garbage Taiwanese touchscreen tablet bullshit in your Corolla bud
factory radio for that era of GMTs was fine
I dont really like the UI but it got full carplay and android auto via updates in 2016 and 2018(iirc)
Yeah but how usable are they in 2024 better to have AA/Carplay that will always be up to date.
they still get updates
my 2011 Chevy LTZ is still getting updates lol
and that truck shares its radios with GMTs as old as 08
Are you sure you can update the older ones?
none of the GMTs with that radio had android auto or car play from the factory
they got it from firmware updates
yeah lol i just updated my LTZ about 2 weeks ago
the aftermarket radios dont really get updates unless you get recently
Well if you get one with AA/Carplay it will get update trough you phone.
no I mean the radio firmware is still getting updates from GM
Not in build software but aa/Carplay will always be updated.
yeah lol
my 24 Sierra actually dosen't have carplay or AA
Which makes AA/Carplay so good basically even if you have 10 year old car it will always feel modern because of that.
cause it mostly relies on the phone
I haven't looked AA or Carplay on newer trucks ngl
We had Audi A4 loaner from 2023 earlier this year without AA/Carplay for some reason if it has been standard equipment on A4 for years now.
normally the manufacturers bluetooth radio is just as fully featured and matches the truck
idk about cars
I know ford cars are a similar case
if it was a rental its often disabled on rentals
Yeah that's shit move from them why would anyone think that is a good idea.
because its worse then GMs built in bluetooth one
my OnePlus phone was dropping connections on AA in my 2018 Sierra constantly
but GMs Bluetooth Connect wasn't doing that
in my 2018 Sierra untill I got used to GMs bluetooth connection thing I used AA with a usb cable because wirelessly it was so garbage
but that wasn't an option on the 21s
and newer
I highly doubt that AA/Carplay are superior to lost infotainment systems. And also removing a feature that the car already had from the factory is that even legal?
I think you need a new cable. My brother had that issue in 2016 Cupra Ibiza but getting a new usb c cable solved it.
the 23s still have it
the 24s do not
no it was FINE with a cable
just wirelessly was a problem
on the 21s they stopped letting you use a cable
(the latest AA interfaces actually don't support USB)
GMs one has the same features and actually matches the radios UI thou and dosen't drop features
- my steering wheel controls work with it
they did not with AA
Weird wireless works flawlessly on our 2021 Passat EU version so not the shitty American one.
Interesting works on every car I have driven with AA/Carplay.
2018 and 2024 are both CA NEC models
its cause of safety concerns
GM didnt let you use the left side steering wheel controls (where volume and stuff is at) with AA or AirPlay because its also where the trailer traction control is at
What? How is using steering wheel buttons a safety concern it's much better than needing to use the touch screen for stuff.
they do on the 2014s and 2015s and it actually was responsible for crashes
like pretty often blamed in crashes because people accidentally turned traction control off
just use the physical dials?
GM kept their dials
Yeah sounds like GM tried to make it bad as experience as possible to me
Still easier and safer to turn up and down the volume with buttons on steering wheel.
on cars yes
I have seen some pretty bad mishaps with it on trucks thou
RAMs had a volume control on the column shifter at one point
which led to a lot of mishaps
GM also dosen't have an ass radio connect thou is the thing
like its comparable to AA in my 2019 Camaro (a GM car)
I have had flawless AA in that 2019 ZL1 besides connection issues untill I got my pixel 7 pro
I just use GMs one on my trucks and cars now because it syncs everything across vehicles too which AA does not
Radio connection if fine with dab+ but who listens to radio this day?
Yeah unfortunately the new car we have ordered doesn't have physical dials 😔
no like I get google maps (ill just use the trucks inbuilt one anyways), phone calls, and music via my phone
Wydm with syncing? AA is literally just run of your phone so its all the same with contacts and everything. Honestly just sounds like GM had shitty AA/carplay integration in there cars.
also i just realised most of the issues I had with AA on GM trucks are probably specific to the diesels (despite sharing radios)
GM's thing is doing volume in db not percentage
so even the volume correctly syncs across vehicles
(provided they all are the bose sound system trims since the regular ones dont do that)
Yeah never experienced any of those issues with European cars AA has worked flawlessly on every car i have used it on.
corded or cordless
AA mostly works fine besides not syncing volume across vehicles with a cord
its just cordless isn't working right
Cordless
(also the brighter UI of AA bothers me I don't like how its not matching my orange grey interiors)
Just turn dark mode on
AA darkmode is black
everything in my ALL my gm vehicles is a darkish grey
ALSO AA won't come on my digital gauge clusters at all
Yeah i know some manufactures has issues with wireless AA/carplay but it it works great on must car i have used in on mainly VAG cars so i guess they all use similar system that just works.
thats not even exclusive to GM thats just not an option
you cant have anything from AA or carplay on digital gauge clusters
only the radio head unit
Yeah it does VAG cars it syncs you navi direction and shows which music that is playing even while using AA
the center of your gauge cluster on the newer GMs (and basically all other american vehicles) is a big screen for stuff like volume
thats not doing it via AA though thats doing it via bluetooth on the cars own system
I mostly just like the UI on the GM one
its really clean and simple
BMW does it best it even shows google maps in digital cluster if you use it trough Android Auto
These are gold: https://youtube.com/watch?v=GgVKYM2ADLk
thats not AA doing it thou thats BMWs own thing
I wish my car did that.
Yeah same with European cars bascially just screens this days
Its not
it is, look up how its implemented on the F150 and Escalade its entirely different from BMW
It can show you navi app you are using trough android auto on drivers display i think its only BMW that does this at the momeny.
no like everyone has it
just nobody is doing it via AA they all do it via bluetooth
F150
whatever the fuck the escalade V is supposed to have </3
carplay actually has support for this natively here it is on a F250/F350
here it is on older RAMs (2013-2020)
No that's just the arow directions BMW shows you google maps based on your phone looks like this https://youtu.be/GTH-a7SoPNM?si=YrPoTTaoe7pqXHH_&t=292

this is specifically a longhorn
is this AA or COS thou
COS actually DOES support this in AA
but COS isn't used on very many vehicles
COS is what GMs trucks run ironically enough their rom just does not have AA in it
Its AA trough Bmw iDrive system.
Yeah every new car should do that it's so nice.
I at least get Android Auto on a screen that isn't too big and isn't too small.
honestly I havent even used my Phones maps even linked to the car in any of the new vehicles I have
I just pay the $2 a month for a data plan on them (its the same esim across all them) and just use the built in GPS
my grandpa does the same cus on his RAM AA dosen't fill the full screen due to its weird dimensions and the RAM one does
(he has litterally not ONCE paired his phone to his truck he just uses the built in stuff on a 2022 RAM 3500)
$2/m isn't bad.
its across like
12 dif vehicles too
if you stay within the same manufacturer verizon actually lets you put the same esim on all your vehicles now
you can only run one at a time thou
I have no idea what GM charges.
GM dosen't do their data plans
they let you get a esim from any carrier
its just a normal data only esim
I guess $30/m.
if you have verizon get one through their plan
I just find AA easier to use especially with google assistance basically you can just tell it where you want to go or what you want to listen to and its just works. Instead of doing the it manually trough the inbuild system and.
my truck has built in google assistant thou
no need for a phone
GM has had that since 2018 on its trucks and cars
RAMs have had it since like 2020
I have a $60 line through them a $2 vehicle line and a $12 data only line for a laptop
I don't know of a way to change the SIM at all, it came with a trial with like 10TB of mobile data, OnStar, application access and satellite radio.
depends on the vehicle
some use physical sims (you have to use the manufcaturers data plans)
some use esims (just bring it to a store and they program a new one)
also AA disables some features on rooted phones now
Yeah the its different story but yeah Germans doesn't do it that way they just insist on making their own infotainment instead of paying google to do that.
(well more so if your not passing strong)
Are you in the US?
Haven't had an issue.
im in the US but I drive a CA truck
i had issues with it connecting based in PIP
That's interesting.
I think it depends on the manufacturer mabye
I know my friends audi wont connect my rooted phone (well it will now cus it passes strong)
I only have issues with the connection if I plug it in too early.
do multi person calls work for you?
Yeah they started doing that with Android 14 before it just could just download 3rd party app to be able to watch youtube and stuff via android auto even without rooted.
I really wish I could lie to Google.
I haven't tried.
what phone r u using
I only really use Maps, VLC and occasionally messages.
its realitively easy to pass strong and extremely easy to pass device now
Pixel Fold.
oh its like
SUPER basic on pixels to pass strong
you just need trickystore (no config required) and PIF
keep in mind however if you use LSposed chances are one of your modules causes you to fail device and strong
As far as I know you just can't because it uses HW based crypto secrets in the Trust Zone or whatever it's called.
I'm only using https://github.com/LSPosed/DisableFlagSecure
But yeah people have started to sell like android boxes now which the car thinks is phone with AA on it but in reality its basically Android tablet which you can do anything on https://youtu.be/yUSJ6GuvTnA?si=X49z_WAfUElFjsBS&t=326

That's funny.
usepixelexpert for this
use the chiteroman fork
the LSposed module ur using is detected, pixelexpert is not
Yeah honestly works pretty well will probably get one for our new Passat to be able to watch things on infotainment screen which is quite big its 13" on that car.
ur on stock rom root right?
Yeah Pixel.
gimme a sec
nvm people are using the 5ec1cff one again
that one WAS discontinued for awhile
Is there anyway to get youtube and stuff on AA on Pixel 7 Pro without rooting after android 14?
it should work right out of the box with PIF unless you're using a weird root config
probably not
rooting pixels (espically the 6/7) is incredibly easy thou
Yeah that sucks it was super easy before 😔
PixelFlasher pretty much automatically does it
Root is trivial.
Yeah but i don't feel like rooting my mine phone. i rather get one of those Android boxes for that kinda of stuff.
if you use PIF and TrickyStore on the pixels with KSU or Apatch (dont use magisk its terrible) your root is not detectable by 99.99% of apps
trickystore does not need config on pixels
Anyway, I'll go reboot.
Yeah but you cant update it right without doing it manually every time ?
KSU and Apatch can update easily after system updates thou lol
Strong with KSU on P7P
your using magisk 😭
magisk is a lot harder to pass strong with since its kinda detected
I think theres a way to make trickystore work with magisk but idk it by heart
Huh, no phone/Android channel....
I guess Linux is the closest channel?
It's what I know.
oh also afaik you need a bootloader spoofer on the Pixel 8/Fold and newer
if this says your bootloader is unlocked you cant pass strong
(you dont have to relock btw you just need a spoofer)
Relocking wipes data anyway.
unless ur on a ROM that supports relocking yeah
Well this is wrong. :V
oh you just have to wait lol
also delete that
it still has ur
keys visible
(delete the image)
if you press the 3 dots you can turn on private mode
but yeah either ur root is bad (not unlikely cus magisk flashes weird a lot) or you just gotta wait 2-3 days
I dunno, the root of trust thing sounds public but I don't know this stack very well.
you can just remove trickystore if you dont care about strong (theres not really a need for it besides RCS rn)
you need valid TEE for RCS
might need a second reboot not sure
Eh, for whatever reason Google let me put my card on my watch today so that's all I really wanted from non-rooted.
oh you can use gpay without strong afaik
pretty sure you just need device
which PIF does for you just fine
It wouldn't let me add it to my watch for ages, it complains about being rooted too.
It doesn't, I only use it with Bluetooth.
you only need to pass device for gpay iirc thou so
I don't know why I'd want it to use mobile data, that just sounds expensive for no benefit...
it should be fine anyways now
the usual google apps need to be in ur denylist
and you need zygisk
but besides that you shouldnt ever have issues with gpay
I do have all of that setup.
Eh, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
How the heck did Google of all companies allow this to happen?
happens when ur rooted
Yeah I have that stuff on.
honestly magisk might be full detected cause even with valid FPs and Strong you still where not able to use RCS at all on Magisk but it was fine on KSU and Apatch
I don't know what KSU and Apatch are and RCS usually works.
for about a month rcs needed a valid fp and passing strong or rcs messages didnt send (they rescended this)
now it just needs basic
and valid fp
I guess if it doesn't work in a couple of days I can just research and ask around more.
yeah
might be particular to the pixel fold
I know it took TS like a day to start working on my 7P
IIRC it's basically a 7.
its closer to a 8
Do you know how the private key got out?
and rooting communities consider it an 8
it didn't
googles keybox isnt leaked
key attest says that when ur rooted
Hrm.
I just got a random RCS text from someone and Google Wallet doesn't complain anymore, neat.
@misty mantle who needs a crash structure anyway
I bet it did Lego sounds lmaoo
the occupants made a roblox oof when they died
Wait I had a meme about that
Can't find it
Looks like your average rental karting experience.
Looks like muh bolvo might need a new full exhaust
scaffold pole
Guy in the blue car killed that ngl
Am I bad at using a dipstick I always had problems with it picking up oil from the side
but my car requires 4.8 qts (so they say), I did an oil change a couple weeks ago and just added 5 just to get rid of the bottle.. I really doubt it affects it this much?
or do I gotta drain some out
not smoking or anything runs fine just slightly concerning
Is this after wiping it
yeah
I did it a few more times and it pretty much fixed itself
🤷♂️
I could tell because the bottom little hole had a film of oil over it if yk what I mean but the top one didn’t
There should just be a film of oil over both holes really
@dusk ocean it’s so dirty, it’s sad. B7.
Same thing lol
I feel like people who buy them are too busy and don't care
that poor paint

@compact grotto

I can't stop seeing this thing everywhere I look, the LTT discord was my last vestige of freedom and now it's finally spread here.
Omg.
It's oily all the way to the top?
Car level? Engine cold?

Caution!
Do not overfill the engine oil. This may cause engine damage.
Literally in the manual xP
Ya'll dunno how rare my mirrors are
I will underfill it, np
🤓

Maybe ruined the all sneasons slightly taking it on track, the edges are definetely cooked.
@charred depot @misty mantle
Didnt watch too much, I remember when they made a v8 trailer to assist the car it was attached to. We joked about making one to attach to the back of potentially unreliable cars when going for a drive
Nothing crazy just enough power to limp home
@bigone360 Havent heard the squealing sound since I last brought it up. Although I am leaving my car at the mechanic soon so he can cold start it in the morning himself.
Not sure if it even pinged you.
Did you know,
you don't say B M Double-U
You say B M V
W is prounounced like V in the first world
Loved them when they were on Youtube
Roadkill was fantastic before the paywall
Easy just click on the refuse button 🤓
I drive it a couple miles I think the cold light went off
flat surface after sitting for like 4 mins
But in the end it turned out fine I guess there was just a bunch of oil stuck in the tube
Prob from after the oil change there’s more oil up there in the cam area idk
I got no clue
Mines goin strong at 230k. You still have urs?
Oh lol strange
At least it's not overfull
And if it was, I could just refuse it
I knew what I was getting into and im in it mostly for the learning experience
I heard about that, kind of funny but not unexpected
How do you do this so badly?
I wasn't even this bad when I first drove a manual.
That's nuts
its obviously deliberate, going for reverse gear.
Well just look at his car...
its clearly a joke
Hm, if the synchros break you probably can't shift?
This kinda sounds like first gear lock-out. But idk
Either way, shit's no good.
don't need synchros... just float them gears

But if they are broken, could they actively prevent meshing?
foot clutch training gon go crazy
What'd it end up being?
Oh sorry thats in a week
Ahhhhh
Yea..
But I mean if it's gone then that's probably a good sign
On my old car it just did it when it was cold so I fixed it by ignoring it till it was summer again
I believe its quite normal for that to happen in the cold
Defs get the timing belt checked out if it's near the interval anyways, it shouldn't be too much work
Well its quite a pain to get to
Really? Like just the inspection cover?
Havent had a quote yet since it can somehow be covered under the warranty I got with the car but still not sure I understand how but we'll see
Hmmm if it's prematurely wearing out because something failed then maybe?
Yeah who knows
Eh im not a mechanic so ignore what I just said
Maybe it is easy to check
Hopefully they were smart enough to add an inspection cover haha on my mom's aveo it's like this little plastic cover that just clips on
Ye there is a plastic part but I think there are some hoses in the way
I think those just unclip though
But I'm leaving that to the mechanics
Yea just let the techs take care of it then they'll know what to look for on the belt too
Idc if I gotta pay or not I just want this replaced before winter
Want to make sure its well maintained ofc
This is the sound when I cold start the engine, Its like you hear something rattle/knocking but i dont think belts make noise
Maybe this is completly normal
Even if nothing comes up during the cold start I'll still be happy knowing all is good with my car
I get so paranoid with every sound, I've never had a car before so I quite literally don't know what is good and bad to hear
Usually clatters/scratches on cold starts are usually because of something letting all the oil out overnight. On timing chain cars it could be hydraulic timing chain tensioners releasing a lot of the tension, on other cars it could be the vvt actuators, but I'm not hearing that here, maybe it isn't coming through well in the video?
Usually vvt makes more of like a scratching sound
Haha you'll get the hang of it dw it's very easy to lose sleep over things. Forums are really helpful though, after a couple years most "common" noises have already been identified and hopefully resolved
Might be completely normal though
Ah alright
Does it consistently do it on every cold start?
I’d say out of every 5 cold starts it does it like 3 times
Maybe 4 of out 5 times
It's probably worth asking the shop to check it out anyways, it could be related to vvt. It's not something catastrophic, from what I understand there's like a locking dowel that's held into place by oil and as they wear (or your oil level is low) they can release the oil and that locking dowel doesn't engage, so the clacking just ends up being a few seconds while oil pressure builds up and pushes that dowel back in
And might as well show this as well but during the cold starts the car vibrates quite a lot and you can see the RPMS being quite high
Alright well that’s all very interesting and I totally understand it all 😅
Sorry if this is all a bit too much
Do you hear a rattle from your car's engine on cold starts?
The reason is the variable valve timing actuator pin can wear out and not engage when the vehicle is parked. Once all the oil drains out overnight, the actuator rattles before catching itself back into place until oil pressure is built up.
In this video, we take a look at where the ...
This guy shows it around the 3 min mark, but basically it's not gonna destroy itself if you drive it, it'll just keep wearing out more and more on every cold start. In the end though it might be something totally different so just let the techs take a look and see what they think
Alright yeah and chances are its nothing
Higher rpm on cold start is normal, that's just the engine trying to warm up a little faster
Alright I had guessed yeah it just feels like a mini earthquake inside the car 🤣
Free massage (its not actually that bad but very noticeable)
Vibration could be many different things but on a new car if it's doing something like misfiring or knocking it'll definitely throw an engine light
Where new car = newer than like 1993 or whatever
Could also just be that it's a small car so it gets shaken easily haha
What engine is it again?
2014 1.2TSI Engine code: CJZC
Yeah probably, our 1.4tsi Vw Touran is so smooth when cold starting it to a point where you don’t even feel any vibrations only sound of the engine.
If you start my small little Polo you definitely feel the engine starting
I will definitely at some point carbon clean my car (Not necessary related to this topic)
On my old civic it was funny because my spark plugs were very worn so I could make it misfire by putting the foot to the floor in a high gear 😂😂😂
😬
I haven’t noticed any misfiring
Engine also is very still and smooth once warm
Yea it'll defs throw a check engine light even my 96 civic was smart enough to flash the cel when misfiring
Alright that’s good to know then
Well I appreciate all the new knowledge and effort now its time for the mechanics to do their thing.
Definitely made me feel less worried
No worries, I live to yap about cars
Haha good to remember
So the 🤡truck has made it to Sweden
I still don't understand how that's street legal.
Green plates so it basically registered as a "test car"
What about any other country? :V
bribery
fun fact: a polished cybertruck reflects less sunlight towards drivers than most other cars
that truck would look so much better if it came polished
doubt?
since its flat planes the sun is reflected up on all surfaces or isnt reflected at all
most cars have curved surfaces which directs light directly into your eyes
:0
sagjhgfsjhagsjhg
they saw the mess that was the cyber truck and were like "ALRIGHT...... fiiiiine. i guess we'll have to step in"
Changed oil in 2 kias one a soul an idk the other one but this was a week or 2 ago i did it for my old man friend 60 bucks i did 2 cars oil changes an put up plasitic siding in his little shed.
So today his Engine light came one an he checked there was oil under his kia soul idk how i drained all the oil from the pan replaced the oil filter lubed the oil filter filled his oil with the oil he provided. Idk what happend i tightend dpwn the oil filter tighter than hand tight with the socket tightend the oil pan bolt with a socket an then a wrench to make sure warmed the car up to get the oil through it idk what happend i did everything right
Finally, a new manual driver who dosent ride the clutch
he is rev un matching
I wanna see what this looks like from the pov of the average drunk driver at night
They'll probably think they hit an invisible wall lol
Engine light and oil underneath could also be something else. Did you check the dipstick to see you added the right amount of oil and to see how much oil you lost?
Or to verify that you are actually losing oil and not some other fluid?
Also did you replace the crush washer on the drain plug? Usually they seep instead of pissing oil all over if you don't replace em
You overtightened the filter
Also potentially lost the crush washer
Motorway of the countryside, 70mph limit still too : )
Must be nice
Stop signs make me so mad, idk what the civil engineers are doing but they need to stop saying "fuck it stop sign at every intersection"
Pretty much no stop signs here maybe two or so I know of at extremely low visibility junctions (basically cant see)
I am jealous
I've started basically treating them as yield signs at the dead intersections
But my god someone needs to introduce our city planners to roundabouts and yield signs
Lmao thats america for ya
Stop signs here in NL are pretty rare
I wonder if I could restore this trim to gloss black at home
Might need help from someone who has a polisher
Don't even think you need a polisher for it.
fox body guys are either going to love me or hate me
is it vinyl, rubber, plastic, or metal?
Plastic
are you sure its not vinyl or rubber?
it kind of looks like it is, but if its plastic i got a good recommendation
Pretty sure
if you are 100% sure its plastic you could get meguiars black plastic restore
shit is magic
if its rubber or vinyl, i think they have a product for that too, but the plastic restore wont work on vinyl or rubber.
That would probably work
its about 10$ on amazon for a large bottle, just apply with microfiber or applicator pad
You are looking at a brand new genuine Mercedes-Benz Night Package (Gloss Black) 8 piece Exterior window trim kit for your W205 C Class sedan 2015-2021. This is a great way to dress up a very visible but frequently overlooked component of your truck. This a very unique, niche accessory upgrade you can outfit your C
$1300
I'll try the plastic restore
holy shit
Apparently using the touch less carwash causes this
Yeah they aren't great for cars oddly enough.
Shouldnt have same tiightness i did on my truck little past hand tight
Added the right amount of oil didnt crush the washer
How much oil did you lose?
Like are there puddles under the car or is it just dirty and oily underneath? Try to get under and see where the oil leak starts
Hand tight is what it should be
That's the problem
It's a crush washer
Meant to be crushed
Update he hit a pot hole an punchured his oil pan with a rock

Knew i should have kept the fucking plastic skirt off
Z
@wispy cloak should have seen the other cars oil bolt tho had to take it off with a impact 😅
why do people do this.
Not a car... But look how good my girl turned out in the end☺️
She whas a mess at first but i think i spent 350€ well on her
If the engine and fairings are in good order, then it's often worth spending the time, and money into fixing up a motorcycle. 👌
Though. I bet fork seals are a pain.
100% true
but i never heard her running untill she whas at my shop
but now she is all fixed up and ready to go!... now i just have to wait for my MOT appointment
most pain i will want to go through is valve clearance... if that needs adjustment i have to take the cams out as the engine has the shimms under the tappets
You know toyota is doing something wrong when the most reliable GR product is a BMW
Exceeding a certain speed?
yes
basically, do not buy a GR Corolla if you plan to exceed 85 mph
Yeah. Which is stupid AF.
im not gonna lie i dont even get the gr corolla hype. its so overpriced for what it is
It's a more realistic hot hatch that you can get with a manual and everything.
Sure but for $45K you get the same crap interior as the $20K base model corolla. It's pretty cramped and the materials suck
You're buying it for the power/drivetrain, I guess.
What other hothatches that are AWD, manual, with 300 hp can you get for that price?
I guess Golf R?
this is in the k20 starelt
gonna do the whole floor
and gotta put in some door pod speakers cus rn they’re in the dash
doing that is still more expenive than it used to be
people bought the cobalt ss for its drivetrain cause there isnt much else going on
and they were 30k adjusted for inflation since 2008
To be fair. Car are all priced shitty now.
Free track day that if you go over 85 on you lose your warranty.
WHAT IN THE LATE STAGE CAPITALISM
That speed limit can't be legal can it? Aren't there roads with a speed limit of 90?
If there was truly a design issue with the car going over 85mph it should be limited to that with a warning on removing the limiter
Should have to recall them to add that if they will combust from going over 85, safety issue.
unplugs wheel hubs and trans speed sensor if there is one
Probably picks up from GPS too
does it come with lube in the glove box as standard? or do you have to take it dry when you go to the dealer
It is the new car experience
Coworkers do always ask why I dont just buy a new car, many reasons to that mainly I cant bloody drive them heh I am sure I would get used to it eventually but not having to yank the steering wheel into junctions always gets me.
Honestly the steering on my new car is relatively heavy compared to my parents new car, it depends on what you get. Just pull three power steering fuse.
Have there been any updates on GM being able to use the Tesla charging network?
I drive old cars without power steering with modern size tyres so its somewhat rough
they are meant to have like 155 width tyres
I haven't done that yet, I probably could I just wouldn't like it.
I dont mind it been pretty much all ive driven for over 3 years, just so used to getting prepared to yank the wheel at junctions when I have to drive the odd new car for whatever reason its very weird.
Combined with that the brake pedal being 100x lighter due to me having deleted vacuum assistance on my daily driver and lack of visisbility it is actually kind of stressful for me driving new cars.
i have no clue where was it? couldn’t tell from the pics
ohhh
coolant just gets gunk n shit in it
it should be fine
if it’s not leaking and not overheating i wouldn’t stress about it
Hm let me see how can i keep this very short please so
Coolant at middle - cold
took a 10km drive - parked at the store, coolant was at 90 celsius, coolant at minimum level(3-5 cms down)
it doesnt matter that much
After 10 mins of parking took the 10km drive home
It was at middle again only to return between middle and minimum after parking home
Hmm i see , any ideas why sometimes it overflows?
yeh that’s fine just top it up with water
Like, not when i drive to the store, when i drive on the highway
too hot
What could be the cause?
how olds the coolant?
poor cooling performance
a month old
does the fan come on?
yes
also what could cause this 2cm drop in my coolant level (tested at cold) today? without any overflow or exterior leak?
Checked oil and its fine (not milky(
normal
nothing just heat or whatever
don’t worry mine does it too
actually i need a bigger radiator lol
normal for the coolant to decrease after a 20km drive?
additional info after i took cap off and i squeezed hose it was gurgling a bit
give it some gas and go smell if it smells like coolant
i’m still using the stock civic radiator with my k20 running 280hp
maybe some air in
So what should i do in this situation
drive the car
it doesnt
but its leaving me in the road
once a month
or twice
i’m not too sure sorry
then fix the problem that causes it
not sure if youre trolling but for the sake of it ive been 3 times to 3 different mechanics and they said they donr know
Did a pressure test and so on
does it overheat on the road
It never goes past 90 degrees celsius
And every time ive been on the highway it never gave me no coolant error
Only when i come off the highway and im in a parking space
or in a traffic jam
yes it doesnt cool as well when stationary
Hmm so what could it be?
Shut the fuck up istg
That's not nice
Blame @misty imp
@misty imp what did you do to toplime
nothing he's going schizo

Fuck you Eva
what if i told you that you had been played
and like half the ghost pings were me

Fuck you lime (I just wanna tell you fuck you)

cause i ghost pinged toplime like 7 times across like 5 different channels in this server
oh you deleted it. wow look at me i can delete stuff too. Look i just deleted myself from this painful existence
Well that's one way to put it
fuck
actually you fucked up twice
why all the fucking and deleting
you cannot escape
Anyway that was a productive check-in. You guys all enjoy fucking bob
oi i only gotta do flat spots with sound deadening aye
sheet + closed cell foam
i’m gonna do as much as i can but i don’t wanna go too crazy lol
all the interiors out
also should i fuck the old deadening off?
@hexed kayak Wtf happened here
Warship fucked me over 7x
X7 is a damn weird shot.
But you sunk my battleship.
What's the signal icon in front of the username? I've never seen this before!
I’m not even going to ask what you did to get warshipped 7 times
Guess where i am though
Detroit?
Trailer park
lol
Its where i keep my monte
Yeah not for long though. I finally kicked bureaucracy in the ass and got my licence back
Hell yeah!
I need to find a new place to take care of my monte
The dealership thats been taking care of it for almost free has gone downhill and the new young techs have no idea how to keep a low miles 3800 running right
Rip to the only dealer i trust
Rip
Still a good dealer to buy from though.
That monte has been curated by that dealer since they sold the damn car to my grandpa in 2003
Its only just under 47k km
I do all my own maintenance and work, speaking of I need to do a brake system flush on my grandpas ‘96 C2500
Petal feels spongey and doesn’t actually engage the brakes until about halfway through the travel
Im not around this car enough to keep it mint.
But there has only ever been one mechanic thats touched this car since it left the factory and hes at that dealer and retiring soon
I just consider those working brakes
I don’t care about the exterior of my trucks enough
Like my Bronco II has any paint left anyway
My volvo is a bit spongy like that but when the brake hits the floor the stopping power is all the same
I’d rather have good brakes on that truck considering my grandparents do still drive it
You gotta admit though. Only one mechanic touching a car over 21 years is a flex
My grandparents have been using the same mechanic since before I was born, and he’s 3 county’s over from where my grandparents live now
I do generational business with one guy. My grandpa got all his transmission work done by a fucking wizzard and now i get all my trans work done by his son
Nice
Shows just how shit the trans in my cobalt ss is.
That dudes kid can rebuild a 4l60e in just over 2 hours.
He gave up after a month of trying to fix an f35 i had out of a cobalt

I should have sent him the blown FM145 out of my Bronco II
I almost stepped on this dude
Aww
Snek
😀
He haw
I have a fancy GM head unit with Android Auto and junk, I wonder if you can install a code scanner on it. There's USB so you could just get a USB OBD adapter to defeat the air gap it should have.
@misty mantle i think i spend too much money in that monte carlo
This is my stack of service invoices for it just since mid 2019
Kinda neat to see Scania coming to the Edison Motors vehicles. https://youtu.be/aKiPuVBBM_M

Big W
@misty mantle there is like 16k in service bills here
Rebuild for a working transmission
Wow lmao
I’m not sure how much we’ve dumped into my Bii
I just woke up, lmao
Gonna be seeing if there’s any codes in the ECU in that truck today
Falls flat on its face when under load when cold
Still curious what it would have cost to replace the window regulators of my BMW. Doing it myself was a bit under €100 per window.
@dusk ocean
?
Ferd
Is that a ranger?
it looks cramped
@dusk ocean @misty mantle

Its not
No
@dawn shell Theres alot of space but im 6’1 and prefer the seat a bit higher
@wraith rivet its an f150 xlt supercrew iirc
Have to check which cab model it is
Its the top spec for the xlt tho
As someone who has driven a F-150 XLT crew cab pretty well across the country, I can say it really isn’t as cramped as videos may make it look
I’m 6’2, and I find that it’s actually quite spacious in the front, the seats just get uncomfortable after a few hours of driving
Though the one I was driving had a rip in the seat bottom and was missing foam from that rip
tf that's an f150? it looks tiny
Probably the high view with the camera.
0.5x camera
Yup
Ill show a better photo later
What model? I'd say 500+ easily at the dealership
E46 sedan.
I figured a shop would ask for around $300 in just labor for the front ones.
Anyone know why Audi produces 7 different sedan models???
Even BMW only has 5 different sedan chassis
@misty mantle
ohh yeah makes sense
Étron mean shit in french lmao
It is electric after all 🤷🏼
I mean, I actually like some electric cars, they make sense for some people
Though I fucking despise the way our government is going with the regulations on diesel/fuel cars
Yes but isn't it just far more worth it to create varients of existing models to cater to certain needs?
Like I understand they're all different from each other but are they really different enough to spend all of that time, money, trial and error etc to produce a completely new model?
Can't even buy a diesel since they passed so many fucking laws against it or a slightly sporty car without eating a 60k fine pretty much
Manual 3 speed + reverse
Like if you wanted to buy a mustang or sum you'd essentially pay twice the price of it
Niceeee
Top speed of five gazillion km/h?
10mph
A few are chill but generally the EVs made by companies specifically out of regulation just kinda suck
New M5 for example
It's a snow plow so all I need it to do is move snow
I personally really like how Peugeot is going with their ev, but I am sad of the death of the GTI pretty much
There is no sporty car left
because no one else does
just let them make sedans when everyone else is making shitty crossovers and SUV's 😭
Yeah that is true
The amount of SUV models on the market is baffling
@misty mantle this thing is running like shit
morning humans
Sounds like either valves or timing. My mustang used to do that.
Fuel slosh?
OH
That makes SO much sense
trucks just have that kind of aesthetic
acutally
they're not cramped but they're relatively busy
an example of that is the wagoneer I rented last year down to the states
huge suv (also I hate it, I'm sticking to small cars from now on)
but the interior looks super tiny on camera because you have to ultrawide it
So...should I just write the c word...if i get a warning for censoring it?
I guess it's time to be designated as the winter car... Just a little whoops with the tire jack.
The word that is very popular in Brabant?
Is that in Australia?
Im too tall for small cars
How tall are you
6’1
Ironically, isn't the Mini good for taller indivuduals?
I'm 5'11 and haven't really had any issue
What do you consider a small car
Two door minis, miatas, etc.
Celica is what i consider small
A lot of the time the issue is seating position
If the car has a fully adjustable seat then you can usually fit
Shaquille ONeal seen driving a smart car around NYC!! After taking photos with some fans in NYC, Shaq some how squeezes into a smart car in NYC and drives away.
But cars that have a fixed height can suck
Like my dakota
It fits me well but anybody that's shorter than average can't really see over the steering wheel
He barely fits tho
Shaq is also 7'1
Ok?
Still not getting your point
My point is that car size doesn't matter as much when the seating position is good
I've been in larger vehicles that I feel like I'm going to hit my head on the roof
Or in the case of Shaq with the Smart.
That he's able to get around, and park it anywhere.
I would honestly suggest looking at the Mini if you're a taller individual.
This is eye level for me in a '12 town and country with the seat all the way down
Id rather grab broken glass than drive those
Theyre awful
This is what happens if I put the visor down
Well then. I gave you something to consider.
I've liked all of the minis I've driven
If I had to get a smaller car I'd look at a Cooper S
They're just small bmws at this point
Among modern cars, then they are still on the smaller side.
Give us some of the stuff that you have driven before, or owned, what you look for.
I can't think of a lot of cars smaller than what mini offers
mini is made by bmw so their cars are over engineered for simple things like the oil filter
literally requires a special socket.
You know who else does that?
Toyota
Toyotas require a special oil filter socket
most manufacturers are moving in that direction. its pretty disgusting
Blasphemy.
2000 Celica gts manual, 2010 Chrysler 300, 2015 f-150, 2002 gmc sierra, and a 2006 trailblazer
Some even use plastic oil sumps.
most use plastic intake manifolds
There's no issue with that
if they could figure out how get plastic to hold heat and not melt. they would make engines out of it
They've been common since the early 2010s and before
Okay, so you're looking for a larger sedan. Or an actual SUV then?
Ive never had a plastic intake melt
plenty of issues when many ore simply glued together
My car is a 2008 and makes 15psi on the stock map
Zero issue with the intake manifold
not the intake piping. im talking about hte intake manifold that bolts to the cyliner head
Yes I'm quite aware
Not looking for car recs
when building cars, adding boost. plastic manifolds dont work.
Aren't the plastic intakes good for stupid high temps? That if those melt, then your engine will be gone first.
I've had no issue with mine
what do you drive?
The car in question is my '08 caliber srt4
BMW E46 320i, along with a Mercedes Arocs.
Are you talking about adding custom boost, or stock?
turn up the boost high enoughg and you will split that manifold
Plastic intake
@noble sun my f150’s plastic cold air intake puts up with alot more abuse that turbocharged cars
This is a built engine and it has been completely fine
ok...turn up the boost.
It's built to handle 24psi
Why risk breaking your motor of it is perfectly fine
what turbo?
I feel like if your plastic intake is melting from high boost temps.
Then your intercooler needs to be replaced.
it wont melt. it will split the manifold at the seem
I think it's identified as a td09?
Same difference.
No idea what they called it
thats pretty small
It's also a 2.4L
TD09 is small snail
TD04 actually
if the engine is built and you have the fuel system/ecu tuning. Put a larger turbo like GT32/35R and love life
I don't want a car that's undriveable under normal conditions
i wonder what the CFM is at on your setup with the TD04 @24psi
Early boost is so much nicer for a daily.
still a small housing
I am aware
I know
My last boosted vehicle had a vgt
That was great
ball bearing turbos make boost early on larger setups. more fun 😉
Would have loved to supercharge my E46. But it comes at a cost.
well i tore everything out of mine and converted to AWD 🙂
I was running a 64/67 on the vehicle I traded for this
disco potato
I'm also not chasing power in this car right now
It's the lightest vehicle I've had that makes some actual power
I only run 93 right now
im stuck with 91 here
What's the saying?
Horsepower makes you quicker on the straights.
Lightness makes you quicker everywhere?
most likely going to step up to E85 which i really did not want to do
In theory it should be making 350-400 on 93
you are referring to, slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Nah. I'm not.
If I went to e85 the power would be scary
proper application of horsepower can be applied anywhere 😉
"Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere." - Colin Chapman. Founder of Lotus.
on that chinese whistler? there for a good time, not a long time.
didnt think you were actually quoting someone
The turbine is billet and made in the USA
Only the housing is stock
I mean, it was something he said. And that's word for word what he did say.
housings are generally cast and then machined
You can look it up if you want. Because I'm sure you won't take my word for it.
Yes but I'm saying I don't want to go to ethanol
na i believe ya
The power is scary
E85 is at the pump.
Also the inconsistency of pump ethanol is really bad
That's what blew my friend's car up
just takes more volume to equate same power output as 100% gasoline. The resistance to detination though is the creme de la creme
F
He doesn't have a flex sensor and didn't test the fuel because he trusted the station
sounds like bad tuning
bone stock car?
No
Oh, not having a flex fuel sensor while running E85 sounds like a bad deal.
Couple little dyno pulls
for factory cars it is a problem.
89 whp
633whp before it blew up
Still plenty to get around.
I'm still thinking about getting a BEV for getting around on the daily.
BMW i3 doesn't sound like a bad deal.
If I had money I'd buy a prius prime to daily
bought the wife a 2021 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring. That thing sips
shes averaging about 415 miles per tank
around 35-36mpg ish
I have such a short drive to work now, that I'm averaging almost 10 L/100 km now.
convert that to freedom units? lol 62 miles
I average around 20-23mpg
fair
This was last time I filled the caliber up
It's not bad for what the car is but I'd love the ability to commute on electricity
When I had a longer ride to work, and where it was almost exclusively freeway. Then I could go to around 33 mpg (US)
i drive around a Honda ACTY on a daily basis simply because it sips
The prius prime could do my full daily commute without starting the engine
I do less than 30 km's getting to/from work. Just about any PHEV can handle that.
I think it's 10-12 km's one way?
wife was doing that in the CRV when she worked in RENO. She was so close to the hospital and she drove under 35 mph so it was on the hybrid system for less than 4 miles.
Called me comlaining the car would not start...Ya the battery was dead
She was stopping at stop signs too frequently to allow the engine to run.
And they installed EV chargers in our garage. So range would be a non-issue.
Even an EV with crap range would be enough for me.
EV reliability is fine
not out here in the Mojave Desert its not
@wispy cloak imagine not having e85 capability
I think I'd end up putting the car in a ditch with that much power
I get the feeling that EV's are more reliable than ICE.
Ice?
internal combustion engine
not sure how i quoted you there
glass
i was responding to Ace
Up to a point id agree
Internal combustion engine.
Petrol, diesel. etc.
Just say that then
We're in a car forum. Why use E85 and not Ethanol 85% content?
I always just refer to them as ICE vehicles
A bunch of people here fit the TD04 to 1.9 litre diesels and its so laggy I dont know why they do it
I don't get into real boost until like 3000rpm
how????its tiny...anything can spin that thing
Ooof. That sounds awful.
Bob does the Caliber have an electronic wastegate?
Yes
Still way laggier than the already "laggy" T2's or K14's they have stock.
Now add cams to that equation and you can imagine how much fun there is to be had
good economy....and not much wheel spin
Hearing the truck build boost is kind of fun. You're running at 900 rpm, press then accelerator and start hearing the woosh of air from the turbo.
What is low end
I have a GT2052 on mine its way better than the TD04's and even the original turbos for lag.
But to be fair. Turbo starting to spool at around 3k might be good for my Bimmer. And then you can save on fuel running out of boost still.
Considering that 70 kmh in 5th is like 2,000 rpm
could downshift
