My steering wheel, being straight, makes my car go right
So i have to put it at left 5 degrees
If i put it straight, it goes left 5 degrees on itself 80% of the times only when driving
what could it be
A fucked alignment. Go get an alignment done
Whoever has an alignment rack
We don't know what each of or locals have lol
Sounds like you need an alignment. Search for any places that does them.
But the issue could also stem from a deeper issue. Damaged suspension parts, and the like from you maybe hitting a pot hole, etc.
Not to mention that they might not even be able to do an alignment if it's an older vehicle with fasteners stuck solid.
But alignment shop is your first bet.
State of charge for my car.
They should be able to tell you about what's wrong with it if they can't align it properly as well.
Tell that to 500hp in a roughly 2000 pound car with a 50/50 weight distribution lol
Didn't ask
Hypothetically my car would have 400 if you made an AWD version, but it would probably have other limits.
my 1.0 going up a hill 😭
I have a bit under 9 L/100km
The lifetime numbers are still tainted by the dealer's amazing efficiency of like, 0.3 mi/kwh.
Can't you reset those 'lifetime' numbers?
We can tow at 100km/h here in Australia.
.
60mph is the highest limit here in the UK towing a trailer, nobody really follows any of these anyway.
In Scotland on single carriageways trucks have a limit of 40 vs 50mph in England where cars are 60mph. All the trucks still do like 56mph though
Why are you bringing up a message from last year
It was funny?
I wish it was more enforced.
Idk actually
I want this.
shot at 440kph
I remember the Bugatti Chiron speed run they did.
A lot of people asked what was the car filming the 0-400-0 km/h (0-249mph-0) record run. Well now we have the answer. It is another Bugatti Chiron.

I believe it was originally with the 0-400-0 kmh record they held briefly.
Until Koenigsegg took it back.
The Regera did it over 10 seconds faster. Using 1 km less distance.
this is why i dont understand people driving baby engine cars :/
i average 7/100km up hill in my 5 cyl volvo cause it makes peak torque at 1700rpm
hey tell that to my mother
1.0 in a fairly modern car shouldnt be so bad, try driving 40 year old 1 litre cars heh
How much does the car weigh
1,050 kg (2,315 lb)
💀
My volvo weights 3800 pounds and the engine is nearly 3x as big and has a turbo.
And it somehow is better on gas
tell that to toyota
Its also 20 years old and has 323k km
you could be driving in completely different situations / styles
Both driving uphill
He gets 10 up hill i get 7
hills arent a constant heh
it wasnt that big of a hill
Most of our hills here are nearly to steep to walk up in one shot
that looks sick i love old volvos
I manage fairly well in this Allegro which has around about 50hp people tend to hold me up, slightly too sketchy to make overtakes.
montreal is built on the side of a mountain
yeah um
I overtake everyone in this originally had 50hp now has about 130 soon to be 200. Same brakes and suspension though.
it surprisingly keeps up on the highway
that mpg is insane tho
I can barley tolerate driving anything that does more than 7
but also people take smart cars on the highway
70hp is plenty, 95% of people rarely use much more
Because that way i can take the 14 seconds to get to 60 but i barely even hear my cars engine
Or i can just go zoom if i want
looks like its being lugged to fuck if that load value is to be believed.
the 3 cyl 5 gears can scream
you would probably actually do better if you went down a gear
third gear i think..?
or fourth cant remember
i wouldnt trust a temu scanner for the load values thiough
atlest the alternator works!
nrg wheel goes hard
is that an opel of some sorts?
2l 4cyl 400hp
Chevy but it has a opel motor
the interior looks just like an opel
i hate you gm
thats an opel motor alright
I mean it does 4l/100km on the highway
must be absolutely perfect conditions to achieve that
ours gets like 7-8
granny to the factor of 10
i miss our old corsa company car which got 3.8 on the highway
No thats its average at 110. When the highways arent grid locked
The turbo does fuck all on the highway so its basically an 80hp 4cyl when its on a highway
yeah but efficiency has to be sacrificed in that situation due to the turbos existence
We had one of those shitey 2.0t Gm 9-3 aeros and even if you cruised at 50mph no chance
40 odd british (real) MPG on a good day
be lucky to get 4l/100km with a 1.9tid diesel one
I mean i did this drive last august on one tank
no amount of distance will make a shitey GM petrol engine more efficient than the diesel options heh
they are known to be thirsty here
everywhere here
the car actually still has the fuel i bought in windsor in its tank cause i didnt drive it until a couple weeks ago after that trip
if i stay out of boost that car will do 1100 to a tank
im not running the numbers but your 4l / 100km will pass no ones BS detecter heh
4l/100km isnt hard when your country is 90% flat
its still a diesel level number especially for that period
idk whats so hard to believe. its well known a 5.7 gm v8 from the same era can do 5.8L/100km

If Elon can build a Cybertruck then I can build a Corvette that gets over 40 MPG. Here's how I built the world's first EcoVette and how I accurately tested its fuel economy by...
you are claiming what is 70mpg here people can barely achieve that trying their hardest in diesels of that period
70?
its 58
use real gallons
maybe people need to take better care of their engines?
if a 400k mile skoda can do 800 miles on a tank without much issue
which car throttle proved it can. then its not that difficult
they set out to do exactly that with zero deviation and it is a diesel
this is why motorcycles are amazing
one of my bikes did 150 miles on half a tank
it has a 3 gallon tank
well just over
3.2 gallons
😩
i should stitch together all my dashcam footage in a time lapse
then you can see me do the 900km without stopping for fuel
even if you did thats still only 50 UK mpg
you would need to go a further like 380km ish
Its not empty yet
gonna do 380km on that
It was at the last notch above red when i pulled it out of storage and ive done 70km since
So most likely
But probably not because ill be beating the shit out of it this year
and tbh its not the first time me or someone else with a cobalt ss has had someone not believe my mileage
you can pull up posts from the cobalt groups where people talked about getting 35 mpg city
pretty standard, your number would be almost believable if you were properly hypermiling
doing 70mph no chance
low car. full body length under tray (i made that) and good factory aerodynamics makes its doable
i can lift off at 110kph and coast 1km and be at 80-90
this is also the only car i own that rolls well enough to roll out of my flat drivway into the street if i leave it in neutral
volvo doesnt do it and neither does my gfs cobalt
thats going to be slightly sticky calipers more than anything
been wanting to fit my 2013 Nissan Sentra with a wireless carplay but damn every reliable company is expensive af
cause they last forever
ive have some headunits that i bought in the early 2000s and they still work well
damn, I got one when I first bought my car and both units stopped working in 30mins
now they were your typical Chinese bloat but still 30mins
Koenigsegg smashed it
You could say that.
whats rimac nevera's 0-400-0 time??
Just under 30 seconds
ic
Egg got just under 29 seconds
If you see hazard lights... don't tailgate!
Idk how cheap used car play units are buy you can get cheap name brand stuff that works really well still
Just depends how old you want to go
@outer torrent this kenwood is probably something like 12 years old
Ive used it in 5 cars now
This pioneer is probably around 10 years old
Oh nice, yeah unfortunately im not gonna be in the area to be spending $500+ on a head unit for a while. Most I can do is gathering money from selling stuff and see what amounts I get during birthdays and Christmas
Who's racing?
what mustang is this?
2000 new edge
did you tune it or smth?
and this is possibly the best accessory ever for a Cybertruck:
I adjusted the timing, bored and ported it, bigger injectors, and 3" exhaust
No turbo or supercharger and still does 178mph
km/h maybe?
No mph
286kph
zamn
$1900 USD
ew cybertruck
How is a cybertruck even road legal
I thought nowadays cars need crumple zones to be legal
Xud rebuilt time
Of course this is Texas.
The best accessory is a recycling plant.
this is what my child looks like now after someone decided to merge into it on the highway because he "didn't see" the truck directly broadside.
I love it when I check my blind spot, signal and start to get over just to find the person a lane over started switching lanes without signaling.
It gets even better, it was a foreigner [no us DL]
Just sounds like someone that doesn't know how to drive.
Lucas pump, sad for you
i have a bosch pump but it needs to be rebuild
its interesting you have the weaker head bolts but it is a 1.9 right?
has to be a 1.9, must be one of the really light turbo ones.
yeah 1.9
Allegedly those cylinder heads are made of a weaker alloy so dont take XUD9TE levels of boost so well.
this is gonna be a block that is just for inspection after that im gonna build the other one for more horsepower that is the stronger one i believe
im a little new with these blocks so im still learning 😂
if you can find any scrap DW10 2.0hdi engines the rods in them are a upgrade
ok thx
8v's are better but if you can get 16v ones they are much stronger
The crankshafts are the same aswell if you need one, 2.0hdi engines are much more common here these days.
thats good to know because i cant really find parts here in the netherlands anymore
That happened to me when I had my bmw and I didn’t notice till I was almost 90° sideways in the middle of the interstate running 90mph
Bro caught the very corner of my rear bumper with his
Managed to save it but I took the very next exit and sat in a gas station lot for about 20 minutes
That's very understandable.
Also that's really fast for a freeway, the fastest one around here is 70.
Well, speed limits for me back then were more of a speed suggestion, that was about 5 year ago
Aaaand just realized im gonna need an overpriced install kit if I go for a head unit from a reputable brand
Just use a 3D printer and JB Weld it'll be fine.
thats assuming I have any form of access to a 3D printer without spending basically just as much
(It's also a joke)

Lada??
Papier-mâché? Lmao
Yesterdays procurement
Got some new tires today
The old owner had 225/35/18s on it
I got some 255/45/18 conti extremecontact DSW06s today, getting them mounted and balanced tomorrow
What in the monster truck
They're probably both 18" rims (stock and aftermarket) but he stretched thin tires on a car that's designed to use a relatively thick tire
always make sure the diameter of your tyres on your street car are correct
surely the tires need to be the same width as the wheels...
yes, also make sure your tyres are suitable for the wheels
That's only 20mm of extra tire diameter which I think should be fine in those wheel wells
I can't tell if you're trolling but stretched is definitely a look
the issue is here, he's going for stretched thin on a stock rim so fitment is bad
a stupid look that should never be done
do not stretch tyres
Agree
yes
so i went to do wheel alignment today and so far the car functions well but my rims are 16 and the paper from the service says 15 could he done it wrong?
This is cursed
They are 18x9.5, stock is 17x7
Stock is 17, 18 is what I got
The previous owner had them on a Genesis
I’m putting a 255/45 on a 9.5
Don’t worry it’ll be fixed today
Here are the new tires next to the wheels
Not the same car but here’s a picture of a 255/45/18 on a 18x9.5
Wouldn't change anything with the alignment. Round is round.
This just looks wrong?
The wheels aren't filling up the space in the slightest.
Well aware
If you read the message below that you’d see that I’m getting bigger tires out on today
I’m getting meat put on mine, gonna prolly do coils soon
Gotta split the money evenly since I gotta also put some towards a possible e36 soon
My E46 had a 30 mm drop to it (give or take).
And 225/45R17 tires.
buy a rotten e36 and save money😄
Can't get anything affordable these days.
depends on what is affordable
Paid like €5,000 for my E46 320i with 71,000 km's on it.
But this was almost 9 years ago.
way too cheap for it
thats a bargan almost
Had to replace the alternator. Since it was acting up.
Threw 18 Volts at the whole car from time to time.
Oh, by the way. Those rims I'm using are from a BMW X3 that I bought for like €200.
And then threw on a fresh set of Pilot Sport 5 on them.
So €700 for a fresh set of rims and tires.
i paid 300€ for fresh set of rims and tires 😄
I cringe a little bit every time someone refers to wheels as rims
for those who need it
if people are buying rims i wonder how their car drives down the street
would not be surprised about someone buying rims for custom purposes
Well here in Sweden you used to be able to get E46 330i for around 5000€ in good shape just a couple of years ago,
but only driven 71k?
Pre-vid
brand new, kinda
Nah my brother paid around €4500 in 2019 330i E46 i think it had like 160000km on it.
better to get rid of it before reachin 200k💀
He didn't have any major problems with it
so i guess it was good shape then
Mine's at 195,000 km's now.
But he only had it for like 1 year
i have no idea about my project cars mileage
so maybe not enough time for something to wrong
I just keep track of my milage and consumption.
i choose to not track my consumption due to mental health issues if i do so
so much money goin down the drain
What's the mileage at now ?
i have driven my daily for 6 months and hit 20k already
195,000 km's.
Oh not that much then our Passat from 2021 is at like 95000km already 😅
Kept track of the fuel stops over the last 70,000+ km's.
Father has a Nissan NV200 of similar vintage. But it's falling apart.
Similar to the wipers on our Passat then then they are also shit quality and OEM wipers which get replaced at every serivce.

Guys i have an issue i find it hard to take the foot off the clutch on a hill until i drove off it but i cant drive with half-clutch that much distance what do i need to do? im a new driver
Handbrake on, find biting find clutch, drive off while lowering handbrake
People driving like this should return their license
Good wipers cost basically nothing
Planning on getting a copart car lol
New whip
Dakota?
This the replacement for the Super duty?
No
I just got it for so cheap I couldn't pass it up
$350
5.9 4wd
How.....
Manual swap it
The 46re is notorious for shift solenoid failure
hello
And line pressure sensor failure
5.9 is wild
So I'm going to drop the pan and hope they didn't burn up a band
Both of my dakotas are factory 5.9 trucks
5.9 gasser
rarely seen an engine larger than 4L in person
Four of my eight vehicles have engines larger than 4L
i have 0 vehicles 1 bike
Two 5.9s, a 6.0, and a 6.6
i have 0l
Do you have a water bottle holder
nah
Should get one
ive got one sitting around
That's good for at least 1L
i jus dont rlly need to drink water mid cycle

i wanna get a bike with a pannier rack on the rear and put a decently sized 1.4L engine or smth
to power it
This is my other dakota
doubt a large engine would fit on the rear
Between me, my parents, and my grandparents, we have a 1.5 turbo I3, a 2.3 turbo I4, a 2.9 V6, a 3.5 V6, and a 5.7 V8
They make moped conversion kits
The smallest engine in a road vehicle I have is a 1.6
Look up bike engine kit on ebay
That should bring them up
Or amazon
Smallest engine in a vehicle I have is a 350cc, 0.35 liter
yo yeah i found one
My ATV
I have a 3.11cc
Sorry 2.46cc
Why does everyone seem to have a damn traxxas
Though I didn't expect it to be a nitro stampede
I just wanted the cheapest nitro car I could get
I'm in a couple RC discords, I'd send you a invite but kinda against the rules in here and in MSC
I haven't touched it since I got my license
Because it didn't want to run right and I got mad at it
Was running mega rich
Not suprising
Traxxas nitros suck
I think I have some random losi engine sitting around
I was running losi fuel I think
good
I'm planning on getting a arrma Gorgon over the summer
It's been a long time since I've had a running 2wd rc
I want something that I can beat on and get parts for cheap
I have a li-ion charger and all that jazz
I had an rc plane once but I did the classic thing most people do
I never really got into planes and helis
I can't fly them where I live
Too close to an airport
Legally I'd have to call the tower and inform them that I'd be flying some dinky little foam plane
Mine weren't
My grandpa hasn't done car stuff since the 60s
But he was a farmer
My great uncle is the only car person
I got both my thing for cars and RCs from my dad and grandpa
I don't really know how I got into cars and not tractors
My thing for powersports was started by my parents
wouldnt that be illegal
wouldnt even classify as a moped in the uk
yeah it would make a standard bicycle a motorbike legally
for it to be a moped it has to be under 50cc
I live in the US so I don't really know laws outside of here
You can IVA it and make it legal in the UK, lots of hassle though need proper e marked lights and all that
plus getting insurance for Q plate stuff is iffy
did he crash it?
Nah he got 20 inch weds cerb IIs
shocking, actually.
stretched tires I don't understand the appeal
it performs worse, feels worse, looks worse
20x10.5 with a 235 or 225 stretched on it
It’s a Genesis lol not much to perform with
I’m putting meat on them cause I care about the handling of my car
precisely, stretched tires turn a mediocre car to a bad one
Exactly lol
if it has good fitment then it's a good setup imo
I got 255s for them and even then I got a set of “sporty” all seasons
Not the same wheels but the same width profile and such for the wheel and tire
that'll do
ngl though for the model 3... I think I prefer the stock rims without the aero cover
I just need to go a touch lower and I’ll be mint
Stock wheels on model 3 are fantastic
I wanted to get a set of them initially
But the wheels i got I traded for a am3+ era gaming pc and a dell optiplez work station I got for free
I built the am3+ pc for 80 bucks
i can't say much I run stock rims
Stock wheels are good
Honda stock wheels are awesome
I wanted to run 10th gen accord sport wheels
19x9 I believe from factory
not my picture but the same as this
Dope, I can’t wait to do a set with my car
I do automotive photography and I’m so happy my car (within the next few months of me doing stuff to it) I can’t wait to be able to take photos of it
wait is that the windmill or the 10 spoke
Windmill
ahhh
I'm starting to get a little worried that I'm not going to be getting my plates.
I take photos but not of cars... I should start
that's gorgeous
Rose gold wrap
we have the benefit of not needing front plates
His car is awesome
how'd he get it into the forest...?
oh really i thought it was bronze lmao, still sweet. And pretty tasteful unlike most wraps i see
i think its bagged
Nah static on 20k springs
how the balls
rip to that guy lmao
the ground was flat enough for that?
He said fuck it we ball
alright 20k rip to his spinal column lmao
lmao
Yep, the grass leading to it was very flat, I was worried he was gonna crack his oil pan on the lip going back onto the conlrete
gives m4 gts vibes
mmmmmmmmmmmm e92 ❤️
mainly cause wing and wheel but that's sick
He’s running a GTS wing
I like how dorky the spoiler is, its like a gts
oh lmao
ahhhh
one of the few cars that can pull off a full carbon hood imo
He had a interlagos blue one but he binned it hitting a oil slick on track
He has a carbon slick top too
I'd say most egg shaped cars can
that's a very particular criterion lmao
I don't think the e92 is particularly egg-shaped tho 🤔
the front end is overall pretty rounded
eeuuugh it was so close to perfect but ofc it has rgb headlights 😭
He takes it to a lot of kids charities and stuff
esp compared to stuff like the e36 or f80
that's neat!
oh so you mean just "rounded"?
I thought you meant the shape of the greenhouse or smth
The entire front is round
yes that's true
Not fat just very curvy
I thought you meant like a mk1 ford focus or smth
e92 was peak round I'd say E46 was closer to the 36
Or a fit lol
nah
I'd actually disagree, I think more angular cars look better with carbon hoods, which is why its weird to me that the e92 makes it work imo
like I'd describe the e36/46 as mature, e90 as innocent and f80 onwards as aggressive
and whatever the newest one is just goofy
you misspelled "an abomination"

it's not that bad... it could be the m2
Here’s a bagged e210 Corolla I did, a XRS auto, real carbon fenders and hood on it btw
the m2 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the m3/4. It's still horrible, but the lesser of the evils imo
wth
overall or just the front ?
cause I will never forgive bme for those taillights
uhhhhhh both? imo, the m4 front is the only SUPER bad part of it, but it's so bad that it drags the entire rest of the car down
if you removed the fronts, then yeah the m2 is worse
oh god i must've repressed the memory i had to look them up again 🤣
The M2 rear tails aren’t that bad
yikes those are abysmal
take that back rn
someone took the m2 and used duct tape to fix the look and it's better.
they're pretty bad, not the worst thing ever but like these have "kia drl" syndrome
the biggest problem is that the F87 was one of the prettiest cars of the last 5 decades
on its own the g87 is just "bad", but compared to its older brother, it's hideous
I prefer f82 but f80 in general was pretty good
Yeah it was an instance of Great vs Amazing, imo E9X was the best 3 series visually
F8X was awesome, but doesn't hold a candle
f22 and g42
that's the real question, m240 or m2
sorry not f22, f87
like i said, it's not horrible, just bad
old m240i, otherwise m2
it's just that the f87 was gorgeous
I can't get behind the grilles... though apparently they're functional?
But I will say it was definetly one of the design choices of all time
lmaoooooooooooooooooooo that just means they go somewhere
nono they had some sort of active flaps or smth inside
actually no, the giant-ass bars in the middle proves that the grilles are not functional
I thought that was like standard since fhe e92 era no?
I was saying the new m8 looks like a certain dictator...
Hahaha
I meant across the entire grille
yea but it's bigger this time!
Lmao
Also is it just me or does the 11th gen accord rear end look like a Jetta or something
Like wtf is this
It’s a Honda accord which is so funnt
Did a bunch of euro engineers move to Japanese car companies?
wait ngl though Accord is kinda crazy
all cars now look the same
It sucks
nah
I don't agree
Honda lost their identity sure but most brands still have a signature look
Also what’s up with Honda and GM coming together for the prologue and the RDX
they already terminated the contract
still not excellent, but that's like 70x better
Thank god
Jesus Honda was about to be in a shit storm
I think it looks like a mini
made to compete with the Miata and looks like a dick
The new minis also lost their identity
or a catfish
really? i think they're okay except for the interiors
yikes
not that I would've ever bought a mini anyway though...
Somehow less reliable than modern BMWs
They’re very fun to drive
A buddy of mine has a 03 superheated with a smaller pulley and bigger intericool
And it drives fantastic
interesting
Well when it decides to drive correctly and not have problems it is fantastic
yea that's what I thought
It’s a 20 year old mini with a engine that’s Chrysler based and design that was done in house by Rover overseen by bmw
my 2012 RAV4 v6 is so loud because of no interior sound dampening and makes 60kmh feel like 100 in my m240i somehow
The W11 in the R53 is more related to a dodge neon motor than any bmw
About which part
That bmw worked with Chrysler for the motor?
Or what
nono nvm
My accord has a crap ton of sound deadener cause I have a 15
I just remembered I saw a land rover with broken rear shocks so it was bouncing all over the place
today
very entertaining
I saw a truck with a blown shock yesterday and the wheel was bouncing like a basketball
man
I'm actually scared of old trucks and SUVs
like 70% of the tie they aren't looked after maintained
saw one with alignment bad enough it was basically driving forward slanted
same thing right...?
Especially in the rust belt
I saw a van driven by tweakers when I worked at a tire shop that had its original tires from 2003
oh schiit
I mean
Natural selection ig?
you don't see pieces of tires on the side of the road for no reason
They were trying to claim they bought the tires from us the month prior and that they were already dry rotted
I worked there 6 days a week with Sundays off (since they were closed) I did not see them the month prior lol
Are memes allowed here?
A good buddy of mine has a billet block big turbo sti and he’s only making 380
10L engine
100hp
bit of JB weld will fix dat
ALSO
technically a boxers engine lays flat in the car... so like the piston would go through there wall
not the ceiling
☝️🤓
JB weld forged piston
lol
Forged JB weld lol
Would prob work too which makes it worse
ye probably 🤣
Tempted to buy like a lawnmower engine and forge a piston for it
DO IT

is it bad that i like it
Most car brands spend upwards of a 1B per model
and yet all they come up with is a shit crossover
That's only the 2nd gen
Apparently what the market wants 🤷
That's the latest 4th gen
I meant to reply to this
the R50/51/52/53 and F55/56/57/60/61 are both fine
but R55/56/57/58/59/60/61 (yes, there are that many) are another story
(ask me how i know)
You also included the Coupe/Roadster/Countryman/Paceman in the R range I assume? 😛
I don't know them by heart but the amount seems to match up
R55+*
R55 is Clubman, R56 is Hatch, R57 is Vert, R58 is Coupe, R59 is Roadster, R60 is Countryman, R61 is Paceman
I has an R56
4th gen naming is a mess tho
BMW bought out the entirety of Rover (and at that point, the Mini Project) in 1994, the last Mini produced by Rover was made in October of 2000. The plant that the BMW Minis were made in never made Minis, too (Plant Oxford)
Rover was basically dead by '00, I wouldn't really say they had an influence - especially because the car wasn't built like total shit.
Rover was officially defunct as of May 2000 it seems which is when all of the brands got bought out
I refuse to acknowledge anything but the cooper as a mini
yeah, the fact that coupe suv monstrosities can demand upwards of $10k USD more new than their better-in-every-way boxy counterparts is proof of that 🙃

I know im not seeing someone selling their Tesla model 3 worth $60k for $27k
Either rebuild or scam
how the hell am i supposed to climb this with my car (from right to left) without half-clutching?(1k rpm + holding clutch in the middle( 😢
egg
You're allowed to ride the clutch. Just don't overdo it.
Once you become more comfortable with it, then finding the bite point and everything will become habit.
The only thing im afraid is i have to half clutch this entire area everytime i leave the house
this wont ruin it right?
its not a one time thing
What will ruin the clutch is extended use of it at higher RPM. Just riding it a bit around 1k rpm is fine.
As I said, you'll get use to the clutch more as you use it.
I see, but what if its not going up?
cant i give more rpm?
You can. But just be more mindful when you do.
Just do it for shorter periods of time.
And remember that the clutch is a wear item for a reason.
will this wear it out less
Optimally, you'd use as low of an RPM as you can to get up while riding the clutch but honestly, don't worry too much about it
the clutch wearing out is no different from your brake pads wearing out, replace as needed and don't be too paranoid about trying to save it
why tf has this blown up so much in the last week
I keep seeing these again on japanese twitter
They're goddamn everywhere. Variants too. I don't get why it's become a thing now lmao
i used to make shit like this
Me when swiss carrot
moar patches
Dont normally bother fixing rusty doors but painting this car a different colour
stilted sedan
wtf
Wrong chat
what would get destroyed more in an accident?
mk jetta 5 (or golf 5) or dacia logan mk2
depends on the accident
this is the slightest rust on a door i've seen
i had to do every bottom from every door in my lada
some of the easiest panels to warp too
Its alright when you can get panels like ladas
having to put in smaller repair sections and not have it warp to fuck is way more annoying
@charred depot this truck I just bought is very much you style
I think the bed is more air than metal at this point
I have quick fuel pump access
Mines are crusty not holy
high pugs
Oops
im too cheap to buy those panels
for doors etc
for some big parts that are too time consuming to fab ill buy it if possible
fabricated the whole trunk expect the biggest floor bit myself
alot of time spent
mine drives of then
depends on how fast you let the clutch out and how much power your car makes
Nothing particular happens. You might bog down and stall. But that's about it.
This was also a joy to see for the first time 😃
in other words, depends on how slow you let it out haha. Obviously dropping the clutch will stall, but if you aren't on a hill and let it out real slowly you can get rolling into 1st. If your gears are short and/or the engine has high enough displacement it you might make it into 2nd or 3rd if you're even more careful 😉
lol thaanks
Welp, my starter is shitting itself
Have to hit it with a hammer every time I want to start my truck, otherwise it won't engage
Fucker is like 2 months old
friends loaded so he just bought like literally every panel heh, easiest welding ever.
is slowing down using clutch bad? (downshifting but not blipping throttle pedal instead using half clutch to make the transmission match lower engine speed - the clutch does all the work - the engine speed eventually comes up but not like throttle blipping at all)
That's worse than blipping the throttle. Since you're just wearing out the clutch, pretty much.
talking about clutchez why this springy noise?
I also shifted here so nvm that sound after
it's fairly normal, probably just the spring plate
You don't want to hold it like that, down shifting and engine braking is fine, but holding it on the grab point is bad
This. Pretty much.
Engine braking isn't bad on the engine either way.
reman shit
hitting it with a hammer is the remanufacturing process
wait till he learns about second life batteries
those fuckers barley last compared to a first life battery
Fucking what
second life batteries are remans and first life are brand new.
Yep
Whoever came up with that idea is stupid
second life is the shit you get from napa oradvaced auto
bosch etc is first life
my purple car has a 5 year old second life battery in it. and it shit the bed 2 months ago.
bruh
my volvo has a first life bosch that going on 12 years old and you can leave the lights on overnight on this car and it will still start
@misty mantle
it wil be almost dead but it will start
That's a damn good battery
I have like a 12 year old battery from a volvo in one of my cars because it kept throwing up airbag codes
starts my diesel even after sitting for months
never really buy batteries just get ones from whiney modern cars
I remember taking my Bimmer off the road for over a year and a bit.
Plugged in the battery again, and she started right up...
usually as long as you put the battery on a tender it's fine
Garage is a good 200 meters away from our house.
So no. No tender.
This poor car is super fucked
Never going on the road again
Its been there atleast 5 years
With the sun roof open
poor camry
It probably has an AGM battery which makes it a lot better
You could probably take the battery out and bring it home with you no?
I killed mine ;-;
Over the winter, didn't have it on a tender and forgot about it
got too cold and voltage dropped down to 4v
there goes 300 bucks ;-;
Bosch
pro grade or something idk
brake pad indicator plug was broken so i soldered it back together, heat shrunk, and hot glued.
got it thanks
understood thx
that is actually a really weird look
dare I say that accord probably could run 19s
the tire isn't exactly thick like it would be for 17
but isn't thin like 19
super trippy
I want (In the future) to run 20s when I’m bagged
I wanted a lot of sidewall tho
I like meat
probably aluminum alloy
Are they better than these?
Depends
this is steel
if it's a shitty wheel it might bend or crack easier but the alloy wheel will be lighter
oh so it depends on the brand after all?
Somewhat
Do you know aluett or is it only in my country?
never heard of it
Ok thanks a lot
The major wheel OEMs tend to be BBS, Enkei/Konig/Advanti Racing/OZ and a few others
I know my car for example has OEM BBS wheels
Aluett seems to available here in Sweden as well. But looks like a budget brand.
Not a fan of any of most budgety brands.
The issue is just that if I wanted to get a single higher end third party rim. Then I'm paying as much for that one rim, as I did for a whole set of second hand OEM rims, with new rubber.
Style 304, for those curious. Found on the X3.
hmm something aint right here (pcv hoses look to have perished?(
Should I sell my Jetta mk5 to buy a bmw e56/e91
Yeah pcv and its a bitch and a half to get the intake off to do the pcv on the white blocks I had to do a pcv on my S60R
I just hope I don't break any bolts
Any tips
I see some people using non standard hoses and stuff
20s might be a little awkward with the more bulbous shape but go for it ig
but yea I think either 17 or 19 is the play for that body
330xi?
20s are goona be shit on that car
onlly rubber bands will fit
and it wont turn
if he's planning to bag it then he's probably ok with smashing the wheel well
it's not like 90% of pickup trucks turn any better
320i
A dusty trip
If you let someones brakes get that thin, you shouldn't be a mechanic
I bet the cooling is amazing on that rotor
How’s it the mechanics fault lmao
If the vehicle was in the shop previously and had a multi-point inspection done, if not at multiple shops and had multiple multi-point inspections done, each mechanic would have seen that the rotor was way beyond the wear limit, and whatever mechanics did see it never notified the customer. Of course, there is also the possibility that the car hadn't been in the shop for a long ass time until the owner "started hearing the grinding noise yesterday"
Hello car people!
I am buying my first car and looking for some buying advice. This will be mainly a commute car and I have a very limited budget. Over the last few weeks of research have narrowed it down to basically two options at around the $12k price point, a 2013 Lexus CT200h with 90k miles or a 2016 Chevy Volt with 60k miles. Both have clean Carfaxes with quite low milage per year, I don't care about carplay. The Lexus had it's battery replaced in 2016.
I'm specifically asking y'all here which one would have the lower chance of causing problems/costly repairs over the next 5 years. I know the lexus uses the same super reliable system as the Prius, but the Volt is newer and less miles.
(if you need more info or want to see the actual carfax for each i can send it to you)
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
I would never recommend a Chevy volt, American hybrid EV’s tend to be more troublesome, granted it’s only got 60k miles so probably will be alright but it’s coming up on a few big preventative maintenance things in the next 10-40k miles but the CT200h is also right in that range if needing some big maintenance items too, but I would recommend a fancy Toyota every time over a GM
ok thank you!
I'm biased towards <ANY> JDM auto manufacturer vs. <ANY> North American auto manufacturer, and <almost_ANY> European auto manufacturer, but even if I weren't, I agree with @hard sandal regarding EV's. I know a couple Chevy Volt owners - they're overall happy with their Volt, but have had the cars in/out of the shop far more often than I'd like, considering both vehicles were under 5 years old when they purchased them.
Thank you. I wish I had the money to just buy a 2017 Prius but the ones that are <100k are ~$22k specifically because they don't depreciate.
If i had even more money I would buy the new 5th gen at like <10k miles but those start at ~$29k
The only issue with buying a slightly older car is that it’s gonna have maintenance that has to be done possibly repairs too depending on how well maintained they are
prob the second option lol
i bought a 20 year old car with 300k on it and its only needed 27$ in repairs over 2 years
doesnt even have an engine light
the ad for the car just said "good car runs well" and nothing else
car also has no service history
Even gets really good city milage
Its at about 323k now but i had to change the cluster
Garuntee that it has issues that the ECM doesn’t throw a light for, 100% garuntee it, and if not you’ve had the biggest stroke of luck ever, early 2000’s were terrible in every way shape and form for reliability across damn near every manufacturer aside from a small handful of makes and models
i have a laptop with the volvo dealer software on it. theres nothing wrong with it
Software =/= diagnostic doesn’t matter how good it is
and 00s cars being unreliable is downright false
It’s absolutely is not false I work on them every single day at work
and ive driven more than a dozen up to over 500k
I mean, okay? And? You can drive anything to that mileage even a Ferrari if you have the pockets for it
There’s not a single day goes by that i don’t do some sort of repair on a car from late 90’s to mid 2000’s
you ever think thats because they are 20-30 years old
All imma say is it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out
you have probably never touched anything more advanced than an obd scanner if you think this
My point is that they break down constantly, they rot out, they have poor build quality, early 2000’s cars aren’t the pinnacle of automotive engineering
I'm sorry i didnt mean to start a fight lol
I have, I’ve used Vida before on my own Volvo when I had it, software doesn’t tell you everything it points you in a direction to what the problem might be
Even if you’re looking at all the data from this that or the other
ive onwed nothing but 00s cars my whole life and not one of these things has ever been an issue 💀
especially back in the 00s
Literally all of them are made with the most garbage plastics on the planet, Mitsubishi Chrysler, GM,and bmw being the worst examples of it
all of my cars are known to be "prone to rust" and are somehow rust free.
people just need to learn to take care of their shit
And they almost all use cheap metal that rots out, i see it constantly
every car on the entire planet will rust out if you dont take care of it
Everything I’ve said about them is common knowledge it’s just how they are the fact that you’ve not had an issue is good for you but that doesn’t change the millions of cars that do have the issues
if people were smart enough to oil the bodies of their car form day one rust would never be an issue
i dont think its possible for you to have taken that any more literally
Enlighten me on what you mean by oiling the body then
Because that sounds like your rubbing oil on the fenders

you work on cars every day but have never heard of anti rust oil spray
or cosmoline
metal only rots if you sit on your ass and let it
Fuckin cosmoline 😂 holy hell what was your first girlfriend a triceratops 🤣 good lord, you mean undercoat, that you have to reapply every year or every other year anyway
That stuff works until you live somewhere that sees more snow than sun I have buddies up north that use it and it helps but it doesn’t completely stop it
undercoat is wax oir rubber based not petroleum
There is oil based undercoat my guy
Regardless of any of this, that doesn’t change the fact that those cars rust faster than older and newer cars with or without it
its still not undercoating. i used to work in a place that did rust proofing and every single panel is removed from the car so the only part of it that isnt covered is the visible paint
everything is taken off short of pulling the interior and motor
You’re unique experience doesn’t change anything about it early 2000’s cars are known to have issues electrical, mechanical, rust, paint, interior plastics, they aren’t fantastic vehicles
and usually last 10 years before needing to be redone
the car will still have paint on the frame rails when its 30 though
and your describing issues that are common on cars of nearly every decade
electrical issues and plastic issues are esspecially common on new cars
Paint gets chipped a lot in 30 years from rocks, various road debris, bottoming out on potholes and whole slew of things
and they are only gonna get shittier as more electronics get added
old cars from before the 80s were unreliable as fuck and built by people who were piss drunk
Plastics aren’t near as much of an issue in vehicles produced now or even 10 years ago as they were 20 years ago, and yeah they have like 4 times as much electronics now compared to before so more of the issues are going to be electrical but they aren’t using like for example biodegradable wiring that Mercedes used
Every decade of vehicle has issues yes, but they are worse on those cars is my point
They really weren’t, until you go back to the 40’s and earlier, 50’s up until the malaise era was pretty solid they were just more of a pain to maintain because you couldn’t just slap a coil pack and some spark plugs in it you had to set points and set ignition timing and adjust valves etc., you don’t have to do that on modern engines
they were. cars were getting okay at the end of the 60s and then the gas crisis bomb runined the reliability for the next 20 years cause companies had to figure out emissions equipment and efficiency
They used the same engines and mostly the same transmissions from the 50’s up till the 70’s just changed the bodies and then like you said emissions, but they figured that out for the most part by the 80’s but the 80’s were plagued with the same issues 00’s were plagued with
big blocks didnt go from making 400hp to making 120 and burning their valves for no reason
Big blocks also didn’t make 400hp using the same rating system as that 120
It was still substantially higher but it wasn’t 400
Horsepower is calculated differently than it used to be and the numbers have changed
I can’t remember exactly but I think it was around 300 after the change in how it’s calculated
Anyway it’s 3:35am and I need to be up in 2 hours so imma dip
the numbers im talking about are for the same car and 4 years apart
from 1971 to 75 the chevelle lost roughly 180hp
and according to my grandpa he raised is family on the money he made from fixing the fucked up heads of gas crisis era v8s
he said he did mostly short block rebuilds until the emissions equipment came out
Then again, it's also entirely possible that the mechanic noticed it (I highly doubt they didn't) and let the customer know - While the Mechanic may tell the cusomer that a car is unsafe to drive, they have no right to force repairs or replacements on the customer. It's not up to the mechanic to determine whether the car is roadworthy or not
I would just skip Hybrids in general if you're worried about maintenance cost. Once they go, it's a pain in the ass to fix
2016 is 8 years ago. Both batteries will be hitting the decade mark in 2 years...
The battery is the main thing to watch for. you have to consider how much of that 90k on the Lexus was done on the original battery and how much is on the replacement
For all we know the Lexus might have less wear on its systems than the Chevy
This is terrible all around advice
Toyota hybrids have been some of the most reliable drive trains of the past 25 years
They’ve been making them since the 90s, they run forever, and drive train wise will run as long as anything. There’s no special extra maintenance you need to do, nothing
Not entirely true, they have their own cooling system and what not for the electric motor
The special extra maintenance is the fact you have a battery nearing a decade old
Once it wears out, it's 1.7k to replace the battery + however much labour cost if you don't replace it yourself
Which needs what kind of maintenance? It’ll have lost some capacity, but it doesn’t need maintaining
There are Priuses with 200k miles on the clock still with the original battery, still doing 50 to the gallon
the battery just gives out - it's not mainteneance it's a wear component, one that wears with age
Sounds like an old tacoma
or any truck with a long bed
That's a ranger right?
150?
F150 with the coyote
Ew
Imma be honest with you I'm not a fan of the 8cyl growl
Laughs in living close to linesus
