Yeah, but housing on the transfer case is specific to the FM145. The internals are all Borg-Warner BW1350 internals, and those same internals were used in the 4X4 S10 and S10 Blazer, but in a slightly different housing

have you done the classic turn it off and back on again.... which in this case would be to clear the code, disconnect the battery, reconnect it

if possible, check the ignition coils & fuel injectors

also check the wires to those components

Idle rpm is around the same as it was when I got the car minus the misfires. Haven't cleared codes yet. I'll do that tomorrow when I can park inside the warehouse at work. I'm not doing diagnosis on the side of the street with tweakers walking by

The reason an engine from the 60s will outlive the kids of the people who built it is the same reason an f1 engine is fully seized when cold and only lasts 4 months

@rugged lynx It all down to how tight the tolerances are. You could put a bit sand in the oil of the old engine and it probably wouldn’t give a shit but you get one tiny tiny flake of bearing material stuck in the piston rings of the f1 engine and bye bye engine

There are no absolutely NO cars manufactured with a billit block, billet blocks are only on high end race cars or drag cars. Due to cost and complexity of making as they are made from 1 solid peice of aluminum that is cnc cut machined. Every manufactured engine block for cars is pouring 🫗 liquid aluminum into a mold which is not as strong as a billit block.

Also no cars manufacturer have closed deck blocks only open deck or partial closed deck blocks not fully closed. This is also only on race cars. Just like drag cars have fully closed blocks that the water jackets are filled with concrete and don't need liquid cooling as they run on alcohol and or nitro methane which when burnd cools the motor and they only run long enough for 1 pass down the track and then shut off. And then taken apart after every run.

Is it normal to swap your oil pan gasket during an oil change? Saw it on my bill today but I don't remember seeing it before.

I mentioned that it seemed like my engine was burning oil so I wonder if they swapped it as a precautionary measure.

A couple weeks ago I got my FIRST CAR! Kind of a late bloomer when it comes to driving and such due to family stuff. But i'm currently getting my license and have gotten myself a car I absolutely adore! It still needs some work, and has quite a bit of work done to it already

But I present my 1978 Subaru brat!! Bought it for $400 from some old fella who does stuff at a work shop. Apparently it's been sitting for nearly 10 years, and only after an hour or so my buddy and I got it running, and after a week or so it's zooming around happily with a new clutch and CV shaft
