but if you compare it to automatics it will fall way short

because it's not an automatic

it's a manual with no clutch

I'm saying this because now I've been able to drive it and experience it myself

They have a spring inside the inner cup to expand the shaft and and hold it into the gearbox rather than circlips but I think a bit of it has snapped and wedged itself infront of one of the tripod bearings

the bolt holes are a bit bigger so you can get the hood wiggled around on the hinges to where it lines up with everything

idk if something more modern has some sophisticated method needing special service tools or some such similar nonsense

but you get the general idea, it also depends on the concentration of chinesium in the new hood you acquire as to how well the holes line up and how well the rest of it lines up with your existing body panels

Oh mb meant to clarify, it’s a 97 4Runner (3rd gen) 5 speed manual and I think it’s a 3.4L v6. Also tires are much bigger than stock and sizable lift since I know those effect fuel economy and power ratios

power starts off low then increases sharply after a certain point, then tapers off

if you're always in the low end the engine works harder than it has to, using more fuel than if you were just a couple thousand/hundred rpm higher

bc rpm /= fuel consumption, lower isn't always better
