the black one uses the 2.0 lsj/saab lk9 the purple one uses the 2.0 Di lnf/opel z20nhh and my gfs car uses the good old l61

you can do mix and matching with different heads of different blocks but none of it works as a direct replacment

like i can put an lsj head on the l61 block but theres all kinds of mixing parts and tuning involved so its cheaper to go to the scrap and get another head

the cobalts got the 4t45 auto, the getrag f23 with final drives in 3.84 4.17 and 3.63, all the boosted ss models got the saab f35 with final drives in 4.05 lsd or open and 3.82 lsd

there is also the saab f40 6 speed that people will swap into these cars from saab 9-3s and buick regals and they came in 3.54 and 3.76 and the f23 had a 4.45 model with a different case and people will put those gear sets into a cobalt f23 case.

all those vairants are easily put into any vairant of the cobalt using almost exclusivly gm parts

Stick a standard transfer case with selectable 4WD in it. Not good for it to be in 4WD for normal street driving depending on the diffs, and you may want 4-low as well

Its also got a gear reducer box, so like top speed is like 60mph at 5k rpms lol. It has no trouble burning all 4 tires at 30mph, kinda scary with them big tires thats not ideal for traction lol

I do 20-25k/year... so then with the tax instrace I make it back in 5-10 years. That's not really worth it imho, who knows what else they think off by then
