Guys having a bad day. https://x.com/listerlawrence/status/1694759461183721921?s=46&t=OB9jCOoj6SJ0gcjnPK2j-A
Insurance: YOU DID WHAT

Just a normal hhr?
Ss
Trade them my purple car maybe
They would have to give me cash though
There is enough of these in the junkyard near me that this thing could be mint in a weekend
I don’t know why teens love those things
They’re not cool or fast or anything
@fathom socket this is slow and very cool
Buy it and yank out the nasty 305 drop in a efi 6.0 vortec and a 4l80 and its a daily driver
That motor and trans is still very cheap near me
big yikes
holy shit
Yeah that wreck is making the rounds on social media right now. Apprently its right out side the Brands Hatch circuit in the UK.
L corolla
Rip L
Shit
I really need my bearings doing
how much would that shit usually cost uk?
I don't have a hydrolic press otherwise I'd do it myself
Thinking of just replacing the whole wheel hub instead but I'd need re tracking after which would cost like 100+
You can do them without a press so long as its not some pishy ford design, or remove the hub and pay a garage £20-30 to press it in.
unless your car is some fancy thing tracking after should only cost £30 and may not even be required.
Some cars you can just replace the full hub for not much money
did it on a Volvo V50 as needs a 20 tonne press, ford design.
That's what I did on my dakota
Speaking of which
I finally found a fender and bumper for it
That took almost a year
Apparently black body parts for dakotas are very hard to get
Especially with the v8 badge and no rust
Dang
Shoulda done >generic $2000 steel skid plate<
i saw a bunch of those at woodward in really good shape
only seen 2 rotten ones before that
it's a nissan
tracking for it is quite different
and would possibly need a new tie rod
what nissan?
march k12
that's the standard for here, also how the fuck am i going to go to the garage without a car
garage is on the other side of town
normie shit, simple 2 wheel alignment will do for that
tape measure alignment
there's 2 wheel alignments here, but only for the wront
front
if I need the rear doing the local garage only does all wheel tracking
yeah and you have a torsion beam rear axle nobodys going to be making shims up for that.
my fucked bearing is in the rear i think
rear of cars like a K12 basically never gets aligned..
You replace the torsion beam if its been damaged, no alignment place is going to shim it for you.
If its on the rear a bearing is piss easy
I think it's on both side
probably 3 bolts
they are such common cars just go to a scrappy and take off a hub.
my irresponsibility has caught up to me
going 80 in cattle grid
like I have some sort of death wish
cattle grid?
Mine was in very good shape until the whale totaled it
You can't even tell that it was hit on the outside though
would you guys say this dent is fixable?
with glue pull tabs or hammering or whatever idk
it bothers me a lot but I don’t wanna replace the whole panel
my mom dropped a bike on it years and years ago
Bring it to a pdr shop
it’d probably be expensive af
Usually something like that is only a couple hundred dollars
only 😭
I wonder if the cost of getting it fixed is worth how much resale value is lost keeping it looking bad
tale the fender off and start beating it front the inside
If that’s the only mark, yea.
If you care about resale value this much do you really even want this car
if you casre at all dont buy one
Yeah personally I take a lot of pride in my vehicle being clean tbh
It’s not about value, just subconscious joy

not really lol I’m planning on selling it soon that’s the point
I mean I love it but obviously I can get something better
Then why haven’t you done that
a 350z
beautiful s5 but horrible license plate
are you planning anything with your s5?
You might be able to knock it back out from behind the panel
That's what I would try first
i clean my car to compensate it making only 230 hp
“Only” smh
Being the completely self taught and non professional body repair specialist that I am
I did it on purpose 😭
it's sufficient but i'm not gapping something basic like a 350z
I’ll gap tf out of a 350z because at least my car isn’t falling apart
and yeah motor is fully built just waiting on a little extra money so I can get my rotrex kit
its already set up for e85 but obviously N/A its useless atm
i still really want a b8.5 s4 as my next car
i have friends driving the newest m3, m4 and theyre fresh out of high school
Ew
but i dont need the latest
yeah I have a 330ci with a top mount s54 a
definitely like the m diff swaps
my yard is a graveyard of bimmers
I liked driving a rental beamer a few months ago but I would never want to work on one
they're actually not that bad
once you have the $15000 in specialty tools to fix them you're good
the most i've done with my beamer is add oil
though i'm only 6 months into ownership
I like my old American and Japanese stuff better I think lol
I have a smokey and the bandit firebird
I've posted about it here but it's been a while
Haven't been able to drive it even though I've had it 2 years
Engine was all goofed
Life seems to get in the way of me finishing the ls swap
yeah I helped one of my buddies swap an ls1 into is 89
now its back out and being built
we had it all in and it ran but ps res was foamy so he took it apart the pump was bad
he took it out to get the frame pulled after an accident
Oh that's hawt
and I cant recall the year but he paused on his to restore one hes buying/already bought from one of his family
I love the 3rd gens just as much as the 2nd gens
and its actually in pretty good shape 52k miles
After that they hit the 90s and went to shit
agreed
I uh
cough
Been eyeballing that
Specifically lists 2nd gen f bodies as being compatible
wow thats
hes married
I dont know if his wife would believe the "we need these parts for the car to run"
I do not have such problems 😂
lucky
I just got out of college last year, I have specifically rolled solo
thankfully my fiance is also into throwing money into cars that arent worth it
Makes life so much easier
yeah sometimes I like being by myself but with a kid on the way thats a hell no right now haha
Congrats, hope that goes well
I hope so too, going to be difficult with only owning coupes
can’t until I’m 18
with a rubber mallet? or what kinda tool you thinking
I don't think a rubber mallet will do a whole lot
A wider footprint hammer
Not necessarily a heavy hammer
Maybe these
Ohh gotcha
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZsrHyhz4Sg not bad id drive
How cool is the name Tank for a car?! The 2023 GWM Tank 300 is finally on sale in Australia and Paul Maric drives the Tank 300 both on-road and off-road, along with testing 0-100, 100-0 and autonomy.

i need these for my car
@stoic ledge How much is the base ID.7 in NL ? 664 900sek (€56924) here in Sweden.
Price not available yet.
Weird the it should be by now the global launch is today maybe it comes up a bit later🧐
Rip to those people who gave elon their money
by the time it comes out it's already outdated probably
🧐
Not sure how the this has anything with Tesla to do the ID.7 is not in the same market as the model 3 and Y and the S and x is double the price.
Theres been an argument going on my bonnet about cleaning my car for months, I am not even the person that wrote no.

Is that 57k€ all taxes included?
Werid nearly every single country but the NL has already got their price 🧐
Yes
Not bad not bad
But that is for the base model.
Yeeaaaa I know we have our problems with cars, but things like this make me appreciate being in america, for cars at least
no im not tho 😭😭
I did spec it as we would want and that ended up at around €64k. The most annoying thing is that you need to add a €5,5k package to get rear seat heating that just stupid.
technically i am a student driver. i have my probationary license and only been driving for 6 months

what's with dodge owners and terrible credit score
As someone who drives rather short sports cars...
This is my life, all the time.
Cole buys a cheap sports convertible and modifies the car in an attempt to take on a pro driver (the Twig) in a race around the famous Brands Hatch circuit. The first to complete 5 laps wins the Twig's £40,000 car in this cheap vs expensive car challenge.

Godspeed
I've never seen a clean mechanic garage
I have on a couple ships
It’s beautiful, they really care about their space and job
some crackhead is selling snap on tools for 200 gbp
mb "pseudo" snap on tools
I see alot og teng tools 👀
So many wrenches
Tekton sells empty wrench pouches lol
Which reminds me I need to find my 10mm
😂
Used it for brake bleeding and then I think the void consumed it
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that
The 10 mill I had before I left on a frame rail or something
I drove off and heard it fall to the ground xD
Yeah that's why I have wrench pouches and packout
Packout is a life saver
Especially that 3 drawer module
Emden, pretty close to the Netherlands
What you going to trade school for
Cities: Skylines??
Wat
You going to school to be a mechanic for what
Cars? Planes?
Like what are you gonna work on
The only issue I've seen with auto mechanic positions
Shops don't seem to have very particular requirements
Pay isn't super great
That's also a problem for being a customer since pretty much every time I go to my local shop they goof something
What is your ultimate career goal?
I'm really just curious
Run it all with robots so you don't have staff to pay lmao
Ehhhhhh
When shit hits the fan like that
I question whether people will be able to afford cars like that
Idk really I'm just pulling that out of my ass
Yeah I guess that's fair
rip
I would be desirable in the apocalypse
I have a large stash of generators, tools, vehicles, and fuel
I've got 2 55 gallon barrels of cherry flavor diesel, tools, a few vehicles, and a bunch of fire wood
Oh, and the tractor, ATVs, and snowmobile
Me jelly
I also have 2 Napas, a Autozone, and a Orileys within a half hour from me
I'm suprised the Orileys employees don't know my parents and I by name by now considering how often we are in there
We have a very large diesel tank and propane tank
And a propane backup generator
I have a gas generator my dad picked up from harbor freight, and my grandparents have a generac that came with their house
We also have a battery system, as well as solar
I have four gas generators
I built a generator using a riding mower engine I rebuilt and a alternator off some GM product
Have a video of it here somewhere, I need to find it
We have solar because fuck the government’s control of petroleum distribution 🤓
Those briggs are invincible
My grandpa had picked this engine up at a yard sale, and it sat in his garage for years after that. When I got to it, I found the carb full of rust and orange RTV as an attempted head gasket
Think someone was trying to fix the fact that it had no compression without rebuilding it
I think we all do
They make good caps, but thats about it
I run the no spill spouts
With the button
And race jugs
Fun fact if you read the fine print race jugs aren't for fuel
For legal reasons
I love it when they get stuck open
I broke all of mine
If you actually like using these caps, there is genuenly something wrong with you
My grandpa has those spouts but he literally just takes the whole spout off to dump gas in his mower
Yeah, a funnel is the way to go
Just don't run out of gas.
fuck the government gas caps
Probably some emmisions related bullshit
I guess if they get knocked over, they won't spill.
fair.
That stuff is so expensive
It is. But realistically. How much are you using?
I don't see why people buy the pre-mix 50:1 either
A few gallons a week
For us, then it's about twice the price compared to normal
Same here
Lowers profit
Really depends.
It's a lot cleaner fuel compared to what you get from the pump, and it has a lot better shelf life.
I buy ethanol free for my two strokes
But I get it at the pump
Not really available here. Basically everything contains some amount of ethanol here in Sweden
Ethanol is not good for two strokes
We always get 91 for our yard equipment and quads, and my dad runs it in his bronco it get a few more horses out of the 2.3 turbo it has
It isn't good for your mower either
They specifically say on the gas cap to not go over e10
Or e15 on new ones
Ethanol is less energy dense, so you need more of it.
And they like to gunk up carbs
They aren't jetted for it
Exactly
Doesn't ethanol just kill engines faster in general?
Not really.
They eat away at other parts of the engine, however.
Old hoses, and the like.
We always get 91 for our yard equipment and quads, and my dad runs it in his bronco it get a few more horses out of the 2.3 turbo it has
And my snowmobile can also take it. Literally has a key position for premium
I see so many mowers that sit through the winter with ethanol in them and get the carbs gummed up
With low-hour machines, that gets run hard, but not for long. I especially like higher quality fuels.
It isn't good for carburetors most times
Why most of them end up out at the curb some spring. Same with snowblowers
Cheap/Free ones (:
Yes
Clean them up, and sell for a profit.
That's what I do
Ethanol is good if you need octane for cheap
Aka big boost street cars
Wish I lived in a area where people threw stuff like that out by the curb.
In my area, stuff like this just ends up at the dump
Forced induction loves ethanol. But you need injectors to match.
Yep
If I did garden work with equipment that used petrol, then I'd probably still use Aspen fuel.
I run regular pump gas in my mowers just because I go through so much of it
INB4 "Buy a drum of it"
A drum of gasoline
hard pass
Depending on how much you go through, probably not gonna use it all before it goes bad.
Also assuming you store it properly
Even with fuel stabilizer, it only extends the storage life about a year
safety taken very seriously
Just found out my media teacher was in a commercial for a local Mercades dealer
I have a feeling it ended up getting stripped then they burned the rest
Or it was basically a repeat of what happened with whislindiesels ferrari
Okay, I was confused. Because the one you showed was the RS6 of Jon Olsson, that was used during Gumball and all of that.
Where as the one from Matt Armstrong is a different one.
Probably so Pon can make a price to f* us
Yeah not good start to Riccardo f1 comeback🥲
Don't worry.
The clutch is fine.
||The transmission, however...||
fighting for its life rn
Transmission? More like glitter now
truth, if you open that without a respirator you're gonna get internal bleeding lmao
Magic dust ✨
What car is that even? Scion or something?
interior looks like a toyota
Kid needs to watch this video lmao

tbf it's just americans being americans
it's such a big place you can't avoid getting dumb fucks like this
yeah
gonna actually watch this, I drive a manual and understand the basics of how it works but this looks interesting
this sod can't\
Sometimes I just drive in 3rd and flutter the clutch from a stop
It’s like a self driven cvt!
never seen a european try to brute force a manual transmission in a convertible into second gear while at a stop with extremely loud grinding and a presumably functioning clutch.
Fuck nissan cvt tho
I've done that sometimes
Subaru’s CVT is well built with dogshit programming
but only on downhill and I've brought the clutch up too fast
I'm proud to have come to a stage after 40k miles where I can confidently know how much revs I need for how fast I am on each gears
perfect rev matching
perfect pulls
I think it's well programmed (with the WRX at least) you can simulate set gear ratios, optimize for best fuel efficiency, or optimize for best power.
unleashing all 80 bhp of my shit box to the tarmac
but was it a convertible?
sadly not
so you haven't done it before
lmao
Dayum

Hard pass what’s wrong with it
Sporty, Lightweight, and Short.
Miat
Lawson will get the hellfire of trials though
i hope he does well, although with how his last super formula race went, im praying
i have a '96 diesel audi with no mods that has half a million km on it, minimal maintenance, who's gonna top that?
Impossible.
Brz can’t reach 120 before exploding
Brz cant even reach 80 without wrapping itself to a tree
300k miles isnt that much for a deesel
Can't wrap itself around a tree if it doesn't run
100% tbf
disul
derv
Right am i being silly or the brz and frs have the same enginev
Subaru needs to just give up on the boxer
brz/frs/gt86 are the same car
Collaboration
But i bet its got personality tho ™️
Cross development between companies makes it more affordable
Same reason the supra is a skinny Z4
Yeah supra is just rebadged z bmw at this point
But isnt the bmw z series rwd?
Or am i tweaking
And also supra is awd
My biggest issue with the supra, personally, is the interior.
I get that developing an engine and platform is expensive but like come on. Couldn’t use a toyota interior?????
Also the Boxer is fine, Porsche uses flat engines and has some of the most reliable cars out of Europe. Subaru does it, has a few issues with head gaskets but good maintenance mitigates those issues without much cost and it's cheap compared to a lot of other engine issues.
Also the Boxer is one of the best engines for balancing which theoretically improves reliability.
Porsche’s boxer is good
Subaru’s can kick rocks
Nvm theyre both red
Rwd*
Try not to blow a head gasket while doing a pull challenge (impossible) subaru early 2000s edition
Was gonna say, I don't think the supra was ever awd
The subaru boxer fuel economy is also just absolute trash
Afaik there was aftermaket head gasket that addresses this right?
One generation was bad, other generations get 200,000km on the Turbocharged WRX, other non-turbocharged subarus can get to a million km. Even some corollas and civics don't get that high.
- on other models they actually redesigned it abit
Any engine will blow a headgasket if you redline it right off the lot, you need to drive first 1000km at a lower rev to break in the engine and baby hit.
The gasket issue is really not a thing and hasn’t been for a while
BRRRRRRRR
Unique for sure
My WRX gets better fuel efficiency than any other sports car I've seen.
But like is that worth it for all the headache you’ll get from it
Fat cap.
22mpg combined vs the Type R’s 28?
But hey atleast its somewhat easy to disassemble tho
Subaru has the worst fuel economy in its class by a longshot
My sports car gets 50 miles to the gallon bozo
Seriously, my miata pushed 49 on this road trip.
Currently have 7.8 l/100km which is 30 US MPG (it keeps a record of fuel efficiency during it's life which has been accurate when I've manually measured)
Miata has great fuel efficiency, but WRX has far better fuel efficiency than other sports cars.
aside from the Miata
Miata and WRX probably 2 most fuel efficient (full ICE, not counting hybrids or electrics)
Absolutely not true
2015 WRX btw
Sounds like a 1.5L wrx
And most driving is through small town.
2 liter, non STI, sport-tech package
I do drive to optimize fuel efficiency
lets be honest, miata isn't really a sports car
kind of
eh, it's similar level to WRX imo, which isn't full sports car but is performance car and pushes into sports car imo.
I always think of it like a souped up daily
sports car is a very ehh by definition
because what qualifies as a sports car
A sports car is a car designed with an emphasis on dynamic performance, such as handling, acceleration, top speed, the thrill of driving and racing capability.
LMAO
“Miata isn’t a sports car”
top result for sports car is miata
Isn't the miata a coupe though?
Depends on if it's the fastback or not. I guess.
Roadster = 2 seater cabrio.
New mazda or mazda in general?
The Ford era Mazdas actually arent bad. That little mazda-made 2.3 4-banger that ford was putting in the rangers were probably the best engine those little trucks got
The Ford era Mazdas actually arent bad. That little mazda-made 2.3 4-banger that ford was putting in the rangers was probably the best engine those little trucks ever got
Now Fiat, that is just a chrysler-made pile if shit brand now
No offense dude
But I’ve seen how you talk about people and even “I won’t drive hybrid, I’m not a woman” and calling women bad drivers and shit
I really don’t give a fuck what you think
Chrysler is fiat
Fix it again tony
Fix or repair daily
Ik
Oh shut up
<@&750150305383186585> repeatedly misogynistic
247k miles and still going strong
Can we not start a argument please
Calling out bigotry is not an argument
Mods will deal with it
187k here. Still runs great
Hot damn
for sale ford transit 2003, barely used, in good condition, serious offers only, cash no swap, no time wasters
“I know what I’ve got”
I gtg
This also applies to all chevy trucks from the early 2000s
Got To Gap
WomEn BaD dRiveRs 🤓
Dashboard moment
Tbf, most cars from the 2000s period are not great
I know somebody with a duramax that the bedsides flap in the wind
the design is very radical
Dodge just took all of the problems from the other American manufacturers and condensed it into one truck
My mom adores those
It's one of the best
fucking jap car wannabe
She hates the 4.6L generations with a passion
Amazing drag car platform
Foxbodies are literally legos with how many parts are available for them
which drag we talking about
this is just a sin to man kind tbf
Oh? You’re a racist? Name all F1 tracks then
I can't even defend that
oh you're into racing? name 3 racist then
It's on the same platform as the foxbody but worse
My main issue with this gen is none of them were kept in good condition
Every single one on the road looks like it has gone through mad max
should just be driven straight to the skip tbf
Sn95s are just not it
Also
4.6L 🤡
Did you know they offered the foxbody with a 2.3L i4
That hurts my soul.
Design wise, i think corvettes haven't missed
i4 is fine these days for power
But good lord back then
tho the new ones are kinda ass
They actually also made one with a turbo i4
They’re a bit overstyled imho
Was it quick, in any way
Eh
whatever the fuck that is
Not a mustang
Mustang is a brand now, not just one car
suv, mom's soccer haul looking ass
Drop the mustang name and it's ok
Isn’t that new carbon fiber mid engine batshit monster a “mustang”?
Tf you talking about?
now that's a mustang
kind of
bet it would still be a pedestrian missile tho
I would like to punch whoever came up with both this and the mach E in the face
Nah
That’s a GT with a mustang costume
Good deal ya?
Mustang is a brand now
mustang is an idea now
True facts
Toss a harness, ECM, and trans in there and its a deal
Look I don’t make the rules nor do I like it
But it’s just a fact now
unpopular opinion, but the 350z (and the others in the same generation) looks ass without mods
They don't have any of that. I was looking for trans looks like stock used ones run $5,000
Not quite stock.
I have no say in this. I'm not a import guy whatsoever
I was just saying, it would be a deal if it had all that
Jap Audi TT looking ass
Hmm one I saw with engine, trans, TCM, ECU, and harness run about $15,000. 300k miles
ehhh debatable
looks okay stock but like
WHAT ARE THOOOSEEE
What are you putting it in
Jeez.
My truck.
300K is very broken in
are you going to get it rebuilt atleast?
Diesel swap or blown motor?
with that much mileage it could probably do with a new cylinder sleeve
Motor popped
Rip
Don't think the 6.6 is a sleeved engine
Run it low on oil accidentally?
No. Drop and go. Rebuilding both endsg and trans would cost another 15-20k. Especially if you throw injectors at it
Nope classic sudden failure. Crank just pops.
You don't even need a harness, ECM, or trans if your truck already has a 6.6
just swap the parts over
Yes I know, just saying what I saw on Facebook marketplace
not really into engines all that much but I've always thought most engines are sleeved
Marketplace can be something else.
Not all
Its mainly the big semi engines that are sleeved
is there an advantage for not having it sleeved?
I wonder if a crossplane i4 would be a bad idea
Tbh, Idk. Still getting into diesels
I thought it helped with cylinder life span
Looked into getting a rebuild.
Looks like reman engines are $17k-27k (plus core) depending if you want stock, or built so the crank won't randomly pop again. Comes with 5yr 100k warranty. Still need 4k to do injectors, maybe 2k if turbo needs done. Will need new oil cooler obviously.
Can get one for $16k with 12k mile 1yr warranty
Manufacturing cost
huh you do learn something new everyday
I've always assumed it was there to help with tolerances
and piston fits
I'm not familiar with duramaxes but usually you can bore it out
And I believe you can fit sleeves
But like I said
I don't know duramaxes
And I'm not machinist
Don't really come across them tbf, also not that much into pickups either
Cummins>
I like little nuggets like the cr / hr 12 de
Caterpillar on top
Cat 3126 is the Superior engine...
hr is 3 cylinder
Anywho any ideas guys?
Bought the truck about a year ago with $120,000 mi for $32,000. 2006
Wärtsilä-Sulzer best engines
Cummins are good engines but dodges are bad trucks
Real
That's crazy
Diesel market is so fucked
Buddy of mine has a cummins I6 and that thing is bulletproof
is hemi a good engine then?
Best build ever

Our third new project of the season will result in a diesel tow rig by combining both old and new, Ford and Dodge. A modern Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel Powered chassis and a classic 1970's Ford 4 door Crew Cab body for a "modern" tow rig and a vintage look.

That's what they cost.
You can buy a 2015 with 195,000 mi right now for $44,000. MSRP when new $52k before 10k discounts
Umm. Depends on year but most of them at idle don't move enough oil so if it's seen a lot of idle time it's going to destroy its lifters and cam. It's what's making buying ex cruisers really really risky right now.
Well that and for some reason x cruisers aren't $1,200 a piece anymore now for some reason they're like 7k..... 🤯
Imo one of the most good looking muscle cars out there
The high end challengers look good
The base models do not.
Well that's kind of by default since it's the only muscle car left.
sadly they don't sell it in rhd config
You can order a GT which comes with the SRT body kit so you can have a V6.
Gross
Am i tripping but isn't there an i4 mustang eco boost?
nah go big or go home
Agree but it’s still impressive
RAH I hate entry level engines!! Can’t afford the big block?? Poor! I love gatekeeping rah!!!!!🦅🦅🦅🦅
not out here trying to get laughed out whenever I pop my bonnet
This is gonna sound dumb and I’m gonna get clowned
But my biggest issue with modern mustangs is they’re too fucking fast. It’s not fun on the road, you’re immediately committing felonies half the time
suffering from success
saying that
can we get a new evo pls?
BECAUSE BY GOD
this fucking thing needs a refresh
Only worth it in '2.3 performance ' form. Gets focus RS engine and much more power under the cure.
Nope. Not enough lancer X sales
What I mean is I love pushing the shit out of cars, with the current mustang lol I’m going to prison for a long time
Miat? Mfer is screaming and I barely hit 40
this is gonna sound so fucking cap
but I've actually managed to hit 120 mph on my little march
And platform shared with Caliber....
sadly, tbf mitsubishi could've done better with it
it was legendary
whats up
Only the GTS was good. The rallye are (AWD) was wet tissue.
27k back then was too expensive
looking at how 27k is kinda entry level price
now adays
kinda sad how there's not really alot of cheap brand new sports cars
Specially JDM where it's been turned into either a mommy sedan or NPC car factory
Adjusted for inflation sports cars are cheaper than ever though
kinda true
The problem is income hasn’t fucking matched this inflation

I'm spreading this 22k a year nice and thin baby
I think where I live that's kinda minimum wage now
and I work in IT

I have an '04 f350
That was $9800
Did you buy in the last year?
November
car prices here are kinda okay tho
not the ridiculous and we don't have car dealer ship taxes
Rust free desert truck?
Nice 120k miles too?
look, if you need a truck or large vehicle for work, im okay with that
243k on the truck when I bought it and 150k on the engine
What do you mean
no i dont like it when used cars have lots of miles
Diesels mileage doesn't matter so much
because over here, over 100k is kinda a waste of money to buy
I've only owned one vehicle under 100k miles
Y’all’s driving is also mostly city driving
Ours is highway
Ahh ya that's why. But it's a 7.3 right? not the "6. Oh that repair is $20k"
you'd usually find cars with >100k miles to be severely price cut compared to cars with lower mileage of the same model
I'm studded and deleted
that's why you can find a march with <50k miles for like 5k
No. But only way to get affordable. 7.3 excursion with 90k miles is a 40-50k SUV from 2003
Ya my trailer.
nice
It is here too. But that's all that even remotely affordable
i have no idea why my mom drives a range rover but
I mean I would assume most american cars are built for long mileage then?
highway miles anyway
I daily my truck but that's mostly because my car doesn't have air conditioning right now
My audi and bmw have well over 100k miles on them
Depends, but usually .until you get to Uber eligible cars. They do 50-100k per year 🤯
I mean isn't UK less than the whole state of cali
what's even the difference between a car built for highway vs city driving
in land
Build doesn’t matter
It’s strain
Gearing
city cars have start stop, focus on efficiency, light weight and the gearbox
Highway is just holding an RPM
City driving is up down up down brakes stop go up down
I don't dare risk it. Drive 50k/ yr through every state. And Canada
america isnt this gigantic desert with only highways. there are lots of towns. cars just need a balance between city and highway strain
Nope, just cheaper to patch up with glue and find parts in junkyards vs euro cars due to sales numbers.
Yeah
bmw and merc is the worst for repair man
they build shit that sometimes makes sense
other times you get a very complicated mess
i love bmw so at least i get to enjoy it before it needs a repair
also europe isn't that forgiving for older cars, they want old cars gone if they can help it
I don't think I'll ever own a german car tbf
slow cars going fast > fast cars going fast
Who needs a Macpherson strut setup when you can have four control arms per corner
my family has only ever owned japanese and european cars. idk why my dad has a huge gripe on american cars
Double wishbone is THE way.
I've owned basically everything
I have leaf springs on all four corners
my dad should dislike italian cars more bc we had a maserati that would have a problem every month
Based dad
I never understood why gm put ifs on duramaxes
Maserati causing problems?
very typical of them

They used to be 'cheap' now they aren't and they are terrible buys.
The OEMS don't understand when you charge double what you did 10 years ago we now expect them NOT to break!
I'm working in development for <insert German car brand> and I've seen prototype cars... Yes they can sometimes make easy things very complicated
Torsion and leafs here
what the fuck is going on with all those vacuum lines man
fuck, I don't want it to come to a point where I need a degree in engineering to do an oil change
It was well before d-max . And it was pushed by Ford's TTB suspension.
well might not need one in the future tbf
this is where evs have a redeeming quality. an electric motor has less moving parts than an engine, so there
there is less chance of something breaking
speaking of which, how do you service an EV car?
Today?
You take it in to the dealer
Cv shafts on diesels is weird to me
like wtf do they do?
Inverter coolant
just look at it and kick the wheels around for slop or something?
Tire rotation
I mean yeah but the problem is is manufacturers are marking that as an extreme premium going Oh well you don't need maintenance and now we can charge more upfront and all of a sudden you're getting these $100,000 cars that compete with Honda Accord.......
brake pads, suspension parts, tires, that's all the ev maintenance i can think of
I'd imagine that's waaaay cheaper than normal servic right?
and eventually the battery
Mostly checks, air filters, brakes/tires etc
Check battery health, fluids, system maintenance, upgrade firmware, etc
Thing that puts me off evs are the battery
they'd be okay if they have some sort of standard in how they're placed
I like hybrid cars
and how they're fitted
But diesel trucks aren't going anywhere
like a standard battery size
Eventually
We’re in a transitional period
because as far as I can see most of them are doing their own thing
Ehh, no different than u joints all over the front axles so they can move semi independently.
At least CVs don't bind.
Diesel/electric trucks les goooooo
They snap on pulling trucks
I want to imagine a future where you can recondition the batteries, swap them out and just literally drop them off to get redone or something
I love the edison motors concept
And oil changes for the drive unit. And coolant changes.
oh. ev motors need oil?
It’s so fuckin simple to implement too
Heavy machinery has been doing it for 100 years
The coolant system is extremely important
Worst of both worlds. Normal ice would be 10k less. So have to own hybrid 150k miles before it starts saving you money.
must be cheap fuel
Because they are turned up. Stock they are fine unless you have steering issues.
The drive units do.
The drive unit. 80-90 iirc
EVs ARE much more simple to maintain
Just right now due to economics of scale and all the various implementations it’s ehhh
No?
Tesla model s
i should get off before i say something bad
> Tesla
for le gearbox.
Easy to maintain, just swap the battery if it's toast. Easy swap
Only costs you 30k
$200/hr in labor charges is CRAZY. I'm about to go to a golf cart.... $180 oil changes every 3 months for our car is crazy. $290 for the truck had me seeing stars.
just rent a unit and fix everything yourself
Again, economics of scale
me spending copious amount of money on stuff related to cars but still driving shitboxes.
invested.
Copious has cope in the name for a reason
its the good life
Shovel on wall for removing large amounts of rust dropped from cars.
with the state of the ev market at the moment honestly i would prefer evs have quick change batteries and they are just sold without them and you rent one of the size you need
? Commercial rent is insane! One place down here an old Osco drug I
They wanted an insane 18k/month.... For a property that has had 6 different owners leave for poor sales in 12 years....
Its really hard to find a unit here, this is shared with a few friends so it works out to £80/m each
we have room for 15 cars outside
Hmm. Battery swap would take 4hrs so $800 to swap plus usage fees.
I don't know how many would pay that. Remember Tesla can quick swap but the finances behind it all killed it.
Like someone comes in with a ruined battery swaps for a better one, never comes back for original... No what.
you missed the part where i said quick change
I saw one that's zoned to allow a car lift. It's $2,500/ month. And the size of what I can see in the picture.
Doesn't come with lift.
i think you missed most of what i said actually
this area is basically condemned and the building is a shithole. its our lift and everything.
ex mining site no new construction allowed
So you want batteries that can be swapped for a quick charge unit when needed ? That's how I understand it
A friend of mine runs a business welding cars properly and professionally but he has been kicked out his unit by the local government as the land is classed as a farm and whatso, cant find a new place.
Only a matter of time before we rise up
no. wether it be company specific or all evs if there was a standardized battery pack designed for a 30 min install/removal and cars were sold without them then you could make reoccurring revenue charging a monthly fee for someone to rent a battery while they don't get stuck with a massive bill if it does happen to fail (which ev people love to say is very rare)
I think renaults had rented batteries here
I know because I saw a F1 Twizzy and was very tempted...
fuckn machine.
it has a KERS button too for overtaking
Wtf is this abomination
battery fails? quickly get it sawpped out. rent a cheap low capacity battery for your commute and have it swapped out for a high cap one to do a road trip and pay a bit more on rent
a fine piece of engineering
Stututu 😭😭😭
You’d have to integrate the battery cooling into the pack then
Or have a system that drains coolant from the pack into a reservoir in the car, then puts it back
can get quick disconnects that stop flow when disconnected
even seen hydraulic quick disconnects?
Are we building a pc or a car
I don’t want other people’s fluids in my car 🤢
dude thats normal shit with semis
Yeah but semi drivers are always sharing cooties
hell even my lawn mower has hydraulic quick disconnects
It's normal on equipment
Also air quick connects
i have one of these and it has quick disconnects for the plow and pto
Fancy
22hp 3cyl diesel
its locked away in a storage unit till i get land again
same
its too good of a mower to sell
Ngl, I approve. Fitting addition
belonged to my grandpa
It’s in amazing condition
thats not the actual mower
the real one is is great condition but not that great
thats just a google pic
Aggressive ass lawnmower that's for sure
I love the Scotland MOT failure car's for sale group
@charred depot is this legal in Europe
car running and on phone no :^)
But boom boom
Forget passengers, subs go boom boom
lmao i saw a prius with a vanity plate that said 56 mpg
flexing their fuel economy
And 4hp
the 2024 gets 194
I drove one and the safety assists made me feel unsafe
They interfere so much i have to focus on overcoming them rather than driving the fucking car
I much prefer my cobalt ss lol
400hp and 34 mpg at 120kph
47mpg if sit at 90kph
my wagon is quicker than the prius still
But thats slow as shit
Yeah my cobalt gets like 14 city
But it’s rarely driven there so
My volvo is like that
Its not actually fast being how heavy it is and making 240hp but it makes peak tq at 1500rpm and its just a silent wall of power that will take you way past the speed limit if you dont pay attention.
313k km on it and it can still burry the needle
it’s got a k24z3 in it, bulletproof engine i swear
At 260kph
135k miles
New prius prime has a 5.9 0-60
It’s faster than the miata now (I’m coping)
I have an s60 2001 2.4 as a first car for 1000$, love it
I wish cheap cars were still cheap 😔
Mines a 05 t5
No you arent
awd?
I’d drive a prius
I won’t pay the $37k the prime costs but I’d drive one
I got mine last year, but i'm in Europe that is the 2nd or 3rd most common car on the streets here right after a vw passat or audi a6
I would tolerate
tolerate
A brand new Prius, those look better
There's a certain stereotype attached to pretty much every Prius driver I've seen and I do not want to be part of that group
And I just have actual taste in cars
be less afraid
or just buy any other hybrid toyota... they do pretty much every model now
How does one even have a manual hybrid
Generally the engine just charges the battery yeah?
There's an electric motor between the engine and the gearbox, so it's probably more of an assistant? Idk if the manual CR-Z has like an EV mode link the Prius etc
Regen charges it too
Looks like its going to rain today to not the optimal Day to do you f1 debut in and it's one of the hardest tracks to drive on specially in rain😬
ayyup, porsche supercup quali on rn and its very wet out there, more rain predicted
Oh forgot that Porsche supercap was a thing that you could watch on F1TV i mainly just watch F3,F2 and F1.
i usually watch PSC when i catch it, its quite fun
tons of cars so lots of chances for fun
also they somehow sound better then F1 cars
those 6cyl porsche boxers sound very lovely
Well both F2 and F3 sounds better then F2 cars this days. Their will be a new F2 car for next year which will be intressting to se i think it will be revealed in Monza next weekend.
The crappy mechacrome engine stays tho i think
Crappy in the sense that theire unreliable
Yeah it was hard to watch when Dino the only Swedish driver on the grid got a engine issue in Silverstone quali which basically runied his change to get a top 3 finish in the F3 championship this year🥲
Did a top speed run yesterday
Im rooting for Aron in f3, gotta stick up to my home country drivers, also hello neighbour 😂
Beat my previous by a whole 5kph 😂
Yeah Dino is from my home country to. Would be fun if Dino and Aron could have been teamates all the way uo to F1 but I think they will split when its time for F2 for both of them. Dino is most likely going to Prema in F2 becuase of his FDA backing and Aron to ART becuase of Mercedes backing.
who knows, maybe they'll both stick to prema, Aron's been with prema since 2019
i hope Aron doesnt pull a Vips though
Didn't Aron drive for ART first ? I know thar Dino has been prema driver since is first days in F4.
CJIB wants to know your location
(I know it's DE)
Haha, yup
I haven't actually done a top speed run with my car. Should probably try and do that at some point.
Paul drove for prema in 2019 in F4, he's driven for ART once only, most of his career in open wheel has been prema
And here I thought it was Mexico.
Very plausible, just ship the car over to there
Yeah we will se what will happen but moving to ART isn't that bad move in F2 they hav e been a bit stonger the Prema overall for a couple of years now. And with Prema connactions to Ferrari i think that chance is bigger for Dino to get the Prema F2 seat then Aron. Would be nice to see 🦖 x🧸 in the same team.
If dino goes to prema in F2 they'll have a pretty stacked lineup next year
also i love how i can talk about nerdy tech stuff and also racing here, two of my most favourite things, do you watch WRC?
Speaking of going fast.
My car started feeling sluggish the other day.
They already have a very good lineup this year but if the Bearman can work on his consistency for next year they will absolute dominant the championship next year for sure.
No warning lights or anything, so I'm wondering if it might be a fuel pump or something.
Not right now i feel like watching F3,F2,F1 and indycar is already enough already.
i only watch WRC because of Tänak, and his ford is absolute shitbucket of a rally car lol, its misery, i went to rally finland this year and his car broke after 4 stages, so our group just decided to get drunk and be sad 😂 we saw him only once drive by
Does Aron always where shorts? Never seen him without them. I know that FDA drivers are forced to where jeans if its not like 30c+ outside. Does mercedes have the same thing with shorts🤔 https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJGYcFsj/
i was also rally marshal at estonia this year, ill spam some vids/pics here if anyone's interested lol
ive been a rally marshall for like 5 years tho, its very fun
Eurolife
oil light
Coolant. Oil light is above in the center.
Ah right. Still
There was a big hole in my radiator. (:
Factory fresh
atleast you get a warning about it heh, my radiator leaked a small amount but only found out when there was a less than ideal amount of coolant
@silent elbow 💀
Teammates as well 😅
@civic spoke I think we found you 🧐
Can't stop me.
Easy P1
Wouldn't surprise me if FIA decide to give out points anyways like they did in F3 sprint race in spa.
