The og 4.10 gear in my truck it was fine id just be at 70 mph at 4k rpm
at 70 mph im at 2200
I want my car to look like it was crashed into the chav isle at Halfords lol, if that's a reference that translates well
being 22 ain't gon last forever, rice my car untill I know better
but the wife is going to drive my dakota, so i may do a hammy hemi
Atleast do good wiring
I'm an electrical engineer by trade, I'm wiring a new circuit into the fusebox lol
Ehhh the only thing that sucks on a 4.10 rear is reverse the 42rle jumps really bad
Thats normal unfortunately but other than that dodge just put them in to heavy of vehicle's
In the nitro they are perfect
bmw fuseboxes are quite nice for having 10 or so spare slots before u need to add a second box
although I have 2 as it is, I have a battery disconnect kit as a form of killswitch, and the second fusebox powers my dashcams and central locking systems
Dodge usally has about 10+ spares in their truck line known as ram
it's prolly alot of brands that do that tbh
my previous cars are a KIA picanto, and a Ford focus
lmao
I want a g238
Welp
You took that out of my mouth
alot of your convo going over my head, but this I stand behind
I've only driven an automatic once, and it was a Mercedes SLK
gearbox was kinda ass
If i find a decent priced g238 imma switch back to the 4.10
he has a ram 1500 and i have a dakota, practically same truck but mine is smaller
amd we both have a horrible slow 3.7 v6
if i find a good prive on a 6 speed ill buy it
hells yeah
Except i went with larger fuel injectors and deleted emissions
Shes git grunt now
I have too much torque actually for how light my car is
wheelspins in 4th if I shift aggressively
Heh
what were you in
also useless in winter when there's ice
i got it stuff at the bottom of a hill, pulling away smoothly in 1st, spinning, 2nd, 3rd etc
5th was wheelspinning
i had to get out and push the car lmao
My ram
I split two tires doing that.... dont do ut
I was at 8k on the rpms
my cavalier hits limiter at 108
Delete that!
the 3,7 wont go past 6k?
mine is limiter at 155, but the limiter is legit just a Fuse tucked away in the engine bay
best believe that is gone
Not if you tweak the ecu
surely u wanna dip above 108 on motorways lol
esp if you ever end up in Germany
i want to delete the limiter for when i boost my cavalier
no idea how
my dakota gets 9 avg
how do you know what you can safely raise ur rev limiter to?
you fuck around and find out, when it starts to float you back off
mine is 7K limiter, but I've seen ppl take that same engine to 9K
how so they know how far too far
that's a bit scary for me lol
For alot of dodge engines you can find out on jeep forums... in the offroad sections
although my engine is only £400 if I blow it up
the 2,2 ln2 chevy 4 cylinder stock goes to 5800rpm
if you cam it and fix the float i could see 7 or 8 easy
The inner kid in me wants to build a 1.8 i4 that revs to 20k
bmw engines are kinda weird, the engine I have was made since 1930 or something crazy, same block just different internals
so googling these things it's hard to know which version of the engine it is
im waiting a while to pull the engine, im putting maybe 2 or 3 k into it
I'm just doing bolt ons to mine, I can't be fucked to pull the engine
i can do ITB's with the engine in
and camshafts with the engine in also
cylinder health is good, I've done compression tests
I got a 1.4l ecotec turbo and all in my garage i picked up from a junkyard.... like i feel like if i fixed the issues with overheating it would be a good candidate for a buggy
If I wanted to upgrade an sxt to like a scat pack or whatever where would I want to start? That's something I want to do later on once I'm more familiar with stuff but not sure where I'd even start aside from the engine and breaks
buy a scat
Step one find a good engine thats not overpriced and a transmission thats not over priced
At that point might as well buy a hellcat trans and engine most come with ecu and key
boost the penta star
my absolute dream car is a TVR griffith 500
and that I actually would be willing to pull the engine out of lol
but i paid £1.5K for my car, so don't wanna go too crazy with it
I'm down to spend £10K on it but not more
my car was so cheap cuz the old owner crashed it, didn't tell his insurance that he did that, and needed to get rid of it
so I got it from the shadiest guy ever lmao, but he at least showed me a the damage and was very honest
got it to pass inspection with 0 advisories a few weeks back, after 6 months work
front end was buggered, steering column ruined, a few things bent
all good now though lol
Is 17k too much for one of those or decent
ye they're wild expensive
crate engines are nice af tho
although u could just get a junkyard V8 lol
if u want accessories in wack locations and need to do all sorts of relocations
That's the first thing I saw lol
Idk how to drive manual I'm not even sure where to go to learn or at least practice
Ive found them for 13k but need minor workclike wires and stuff they come from wrecks
you're planning on dropping the entire drivetrain from a car, and replacing the computer and don't know how to drive manual
I've been avoiding boosting mine because I love the throttle response, hense why I'm going camshafts and ITB's
call me an idiot if I am, but I don't feel like dealing with lag
in a car that weighs less than 1 ton
I learned how to drive on manuals lol
That's way later lol I figured I'd learn before then at some point along the way
Antilag
Pops and bangs Bbay!!!!
fun fact! I can't drive an automatic, I end up left foot stomping the brake lmao
my truck is auto, and i do it often
I get pops and bangs NA tho lol
stainless steel straight pipe
wanna get equal length headers tho 😩
I always hit the firewall with my foot and go to reach for a shifter that isn't there
My truck shifts at 5k
I'm lucky to live somewhere that manual is the norm
cuz all the company vans I drive are manuals
i have a long tube header on my cav and it pops like crazy
👌 that's hot
I think I'll have a think about turbos on mine lol
the manifolds for mounting them are cheap and easy to get
the ECU is already one I can program
but i don't know enough about what size turbo and how best to do antilag to minimise spool time
cuz I just love the instant response of NA
the fact I spin the wheels sifting up to 3rd aggressive is cuz it's NA power
pereli tyres also, not ling long ditch finders
I spend way too much on tyres
I'm a fan of rolling burnouts, which is actually doable with 170bhp belive it or not lmao
just wait for rain
England car scene is alot of Renault cleos, and vauxhaul astras, and shit box civics, Ford fiestas etc
mostly small hatchbacks making around the 200hp mark
so my crappy beamer actually contends with them on the odd race from lights
were I in the states my car would get smoked by any truck guy I'd imagine
I have 6.25 horses per KG, which is a dumb unit of measurement
idk how that compares to any of you guys, most likely poorly
@wet summit i think im pushing 4.7l levels of power put of my 3.7
that's not a ton, but definitely not torque
I mean topspeed youd probably win, but quarters no.... hell with 170 you might get smoked by a minivan
yeah I've been beaten by a Ford mondeo before lmao
...ive been beat by a minivan that sounded like a jet engine
you can also just pick my car up, so that counts for something
A product i wish existed would be the Hellcat Pacifica
here's a video of how slow my car is lol
Imma watch it when i finish this oilchange im doin
Its going slow, lady didnt change her oil and is 8900 miles over or 14323 km over
oof so it's turned to goo then i take it
Very much so.... i ran seafoam through the motor and got it hot before but its bad i might drop the pan
that's rough lol
if u drop the pan though you can make yourself one of those "customer states" clips
poke the goo with a screwdriver for a couple views lol
Ehh when i worked in a shop we didn't do that for liability concerns, i do the same as a mobile mechanic
Somtimes if its really bad... i will but most if the time no
that makes alot of sense actually' i've not considered that angle
also you're working mobile?
Yup currently in the Kohls parking lot doing oil while this lady works
i can see why you might not want to drop the pan then lmao
god speed
Yup trying to avoid it. Its coming but slowly customers like this i dont give a choice to conventional oil or synthetic... they are going to do this again so synthetic will probably save the motor
Personally i run 5w-20 in everything
But i follow manufacturers suggestions on customers unless its and oil burner then 5w-40 all day
I see alot of oil burners
the old owner of my car put 5w-40 in it, even though that engine burns a small amount of oil from factory, like half a liter over 3K miles
but it was getting ticking from the hydraulic lifters due to the thicker oil, so the first thing i did was put 0w-30 in it lol
it rolls out the factory burning oil lol, it's just what that engine does
there's no bad seals or anything, compression is great, no mixing of fluids
just does that
Thats how old engines are
My vehicles dont burn a drop except my tractor
Tractor on the otherhand burns a quart an hour
lmao ye that's kinda rough
at least it isn't rotary
i've seen ppl put oil in the fuel tank with bridgeported 18B engines
18B? 13B?
i'm not great with mazda's rotary stuff
With rotarys its just part of the territory
Thats why they got banned from F1
They would throw oil out of the exhaust onto the track
i kinda wanted to rotary swap my mk1 ford focus when i had that, cuz it fits with room to spare, and those engines make 650hp easy with no internals swapped
but also looking at 8mph and having to basically run 2-stroke fuel
sold that car for £300 in the end lol
Rotarys are fun and cool until it comes time to service them
take apart like burger, fill with vacoline, sandwich back
open again cuz the apex seals didn't go in properly, close again
run it for an hour while it burns out all the rebuilding vacoline, watch it make white smoke for 2 days
and then rebuild again after 3 months when it goes bang
i was ready for that to be my life lmao
kinda glad i didn't, but now i have crappy bmw instead
Im about to pour diesel down this engine im working on...
that's a trick i've not heard before lol
makes sense
aight i gtg
good luck with that car, hope u can get it drained
it's 11pm here so imma sleep
Get some sleep
So today I picked up the ultimate dad car
Deffo doesn’t set your world alight, the only way I can describe it is that it feels like a Corolla to drive
Still, nice spec and a fairly well designed car, should give a few years trouble(ish) free motoring
I don't like how the brakes seem to become softer and softer overtime, yet I don't lose any brake fluid
you need a brake booster
It brakes like a semi truck
There's a delay between when I press the brake pedal and the pressure applied to brakes.
what does?
brake booster
Look loud and possibly heavy?
Also, I always found it a little strange when a non-three piece wheel immitated the three piece look.
crappy german cars are great
source: i drive volkswagens
could be old flex lines causing that
when they get older and softer they'll sort of expand when you press the pedal, so it takes a bit more to build pressure
Well
It's sheet metal
I'm having to keep the heat down or it blows through
What im adding is 16g steel, it's considerably thicker than the original body metal
Some spots of the body are rotted so bad it blows through even on my lowest welder power
It's an inverter flux core welder
This was all repaired with fiberglass, I don't know how long ago and it wasn't by me
But it didn't hold and it was falling apart pretty bad
This is my first gen 4runner btw
Now with 4 whole pixels
how’s the frame look? just surface rust on the frame?
checooooo perezzzzz
@timber oarget thicker sheet metal
1,25mm works great and can be welded with more power
make sure to weld it compeletely so theres no holes under filler when prepping
That is rice overload.
my gf brother has a 2001, and oh my god the rust
maybe 2 years left from it, i'll do frame repairs on my vehicles but not on others
i guess an upside of a unibody is that if a subframe rots out you just get a new one, if my truck starts to rust it's trash
but if the unibody rusts you throw away the entire car
my grandmas 2500hd 2005 i was going to trade her for my dakota, but i looked under that thing and god damn it was bad
the shock wasn't connected to the frame
Well the frame is fine
I wouldn't have bought it if the frame was bad
Just some body rust
he didn't have me come look at it when he bought it
I'm gonna use some por15 or some Eastwood products to coat the frame so it doesn't rot
Also need some mud flaps because it kicks up a bunch of crap on the sides when I go through snow
And it's getting a freshly rebuilt 22re here soon
Nice fancy radiator too
The petcock drain is machined aluminum
👌
paint with metal paint and then use underbody coating
wont rust
i used 90s dinitrol underbody coating on my lada
we also have some coating that has lead in it from 70s
expected it to just explode at the end there
amazing it ran for that long
runs good, maintenance regularly done at the dealership, low miles, no low ballers
Blown motor?
No just some connectors i forgot to connect
Rip lmao
Amazed it was running at all
y'all are making me think I should look into replacing my MKV GLI finally 😄
Barra.
What in the sam fuck kinda 1984 society do you live in brother
What so its like a speed camera? Car too stinky you get a ticket?
How tf does that work?
Does it just sniff the emissions over time?
apparently it can differentiate individual vehicles
These look very similar
The 1.5 looks shorter.
engine.scale(0.75)
They probably would depending on how the 0.5 liter difference is accounted for.
What is the bore and stroke on each?

ew
pass this fairly often
my engin
roll enough coal and it wont be able to see the plate
just turn off my engine and roll through for a perfect score
Not sure what they are gonna do with the information other than "old car bad"
Whatre they gonna do when an oversize load comes through and rips the arm off
That or take the whole thing with it
well moving a oversized load here is a decent bit of paperwork and responsibility heh
That doesnt stop it from ripping that thing apart
its been there for like a year its fine
or a couple months every once in a while at least
If somebody hits it their insurance pays for it heh, car or oversized load.
How many do they have
Lol the AC compressor
hey guys just thought i would mention that i now own a 2009 gmc sierra 4.8, 2wd, quad cab
paid 45$
it's a 4l60e, which is whatever but i paid 45 fucking dollars
it's got an ls, so worst case is i paid 45$ for an ls
where you seein one
also, the entire suspension is shot
What is this? Fiat 125/p?
Hanging in a plastic bag with paper covering the lines going thru the firewall
The apple grease doesn't taste like apple at all :C ||
||
lada 21063
more like all the electrical wires
ah

And looks like my abs module has broken
I wonder if LTT will be reviewing the Chevy Blazer EV? They've been knocking the car reviews out of the park imo
Photo?
Truck is about to go crazy
I need to get a less restrictive exhaust. Hopefully one with an expansion chamber.
👍
clean
diy time
never seen an exhaust like that
Crunch? More like cringe
don’t some car manufactures attach subs to the frame to get the bass all throughout the entire car? I read something about that
maybe it’s a common thing idk
I don't think you want that as it'll also vibrate other components in the car then?
Ngl, don't really know
In most cars with a dedicated subwoofer it's mounted in the spare wheel well, or underneath the front seats like BMW does
It'll be mounted to the chassis in one way or another
Volvo mounted the sub to the frame
You mean their Air Woofer Technology?
First time seeing a Genesis, love the plate

I think they look dope
genesis is hyundai isn't it?
With that new suv they've been driving it around where I live to try and generate some hype ig
Too bad it's just another grey suv noone will notice
Only UK and Germany I think for now?
That's because you're also the core market for them.
Really weird that UK is a market for them.
Korea is RHD
So that's easy I guess?
Although they have them in LHD
I think the UK is more open to new brands?
South Korea drive on the correct side of the road. The right.
No idea.
Didn't Tesla even stop making the Model S and X as wrong hand drive?
Correct
If those new brands are mercedes and tesla
Ig stuff like polestar and the MG4 are doing fairly well which I very much welcome
i see 2-3 polestar 2s every day here in montreal
Ok, my bad
Then IDK why they chose UK
To flex on Tesla or something
Hope so
That looks nice
First time seeing this like, ever
An over engineered bike rack integrated in the rear of a corsa
FlexFix
Was available on all models around the 2010 era
Just put some strong hydraulics and use it as a battering ram
Except the Insignia A iirc
Never seen this in my life
Corsa D, Astra J, Meriva B, Zafira C, Adam, Mokka
Lmao, when someones riding on ur ass, just yeet that thing out
Those were the ones available with FlexFix iirc
You have to pull a lever in the trunk lid liner, like next to the lock
I'm very sad this feature got discontinued
It was stored in the spare tire well, so you could not get it with a spare tire
Additionally, fitting a tow bar was not possible
Oh yeah, I always forget the Antara
Yeah I've never seen that before
At first i thought it was aftermarket
Nope, factory
Might be surprising... But it wasn't that popular

But I love it when I spot one
New air filter
you should keep the stock one on such a nice bike
same amount of power, no noise from the intake
actually pretty neat
ig letting you swap it out for a towball would've meant more chassis reenforcement
Were keeping the stock one on hand, but using the new one since the stock one limits the air flow and is making it run super rich
2:10am and I’m looking at getting an Audi R8 hot wheels model
Finally got around to reviving the RMK-800. Runs good
Is it living when it smokes that much 😛
Never seen them before but they look quite cool
Also looks like they have 0 crumple zone
You could get them with a towbar OR the bike rack, not both
Towbar didn't need more chassis reinforcement, you mostly need a different impact bar as that's where the tow bar is attached to
Exhaust had a bunch on oil in it. It’s a 2-stroke with a oil injection system
This was about an hour after it was initially revived. First 2 starts had huge smoke clouds come out of the exhaust
I like to consider this thing a big “fuck you” to the environment that I am happy to own
you could have adjusted the carb
does anyone have a video of a stock e90 328i vs a stock e90 335i? all the videos on youtube seem to be of modded e90s
NOOOO
Marking its territory.
it's leaking near where the gearbox is
Rear main seal?
But also - Can be tough to know if it's from a leak higher up as well, and running down to that spot.
the good thing is that im driving this car for 1 more month before going to uni, so it wont be my problem until then 😅
Do you know what fluid it is?
i took a paper towel and smeared it on the fluid and it was grey
i'll check my engine oil level during my next drive
Did they start with the e-stick for that generation?
🤢
regular dipsticks too complex for the germans? lol
You technically save on manufacturing.
Since you just need the ability to fit the one oil level sensor, which they would have either way.
So they just remove the dip stick tube.
the funny thing is that someone could be driving with extremely low levels of oil, but the e stick needs you to drive to measure oil level
so measuring oil could actually be ruining an engine 😭
Yeah, it wants to be hot. Right?
Speaking of. Drove a truck that didn't warn for a low oil level.
I checked the dip stick, and it was DRY
ouch
Was told to drive and add more oil.
After 10 liters, then I was at a good level.
Which is a big yikes.
Normally when a truck runs low on oil, then they start screaming at you to add more.
It's usually 5 liters between the minimum and maximum on trucks.
now after sitting for about 30 mins, the fluid is clear. is this coolant?
i was running the ac before running the blower for a few mins before shutting the car off
🙏 please be water and not coolant
Taste it 😈
Saw that on facebook
We are scared of dipsticks
The Rav4 before the wife was rear ended sitting at a stop light totalling the vehicle.
Put a ton of work into it.
200 square feet of dynamat sound proofing and fiber filled cavities.
Running two PDX M12 1 channel 1200watt RMS Amps
One 4.150 4 channel 150 watt RMS amp
One 2.150 channel 150 watt RMS amp
4 Alpine Type X 6.5" speakers
2 Alpine Type R stand alone tweeters
2 Alpine Type X 12" woofers
Double din Alpine head uint and the Alpine multimedia manager to control every little detail.
Still have the equipment after it was totalled thinking it might go in the tundra.
Gotta wash it to take it out and get it dirty.
i got the 45$ gmc sierra transferred into my name
is it 45$? no.
it is inherently worse than my new truck
i was beating on my dakota, put the brake pedal to the floor and it suddenly lost pressure
ok boy blew a brake line from the abs i is
unit
ofc the bmw xm isnt $45 and is worse than your new truck
one thing about the xm that probably costs $45 is the volume adjuster knob
I highly doubt that, if it has the galvanized controls
Maybe the valve cap or something
Also, imagine such a car and still no adaptive cruise control

Also, I've heard it's actually not that great? An X6 M is apparently way better to drive
Although hYpErCaR sUv'S are a stupid thing anyway
that rear end is something else
bmw designers must've been guning for most horizontal lines
then again I think the ix has 12 or something
The rear end is cool and the front has grown on me a little
i dont like the xm. what's it supposed to be? rsq8 competitor? l thought the x5 m was the rsq8 competitor
The XM is a thing of its own. But yeah, I guess RSQ8, along with other high end, fast SUV's
Thinking of getting a battery impact driver. But idk what to get myself.
Impact driver or impact wrench
Impact driver is for hex bits
Impact wrench is for sockets
I meant impect wrench.
well both have their uses so thats why i asked
i use ryobi personally
im sure im going to get flamed for that
milwaukee is obviously good
but only if you have phat wallets
i see a lot of people liking harbor freights hercules brand
Don't got Harbor Freight here. So there's that.
might be able to order from them idk
Have also look around for getting something that might be compatible with a weed whacker. Or whatever you want to call it.
Fuck import duties.
Having to import it from USA to Europe. Would be terrible.
Yeah, that's what I'm sorta looking at. Same batteries between the weed whacker and the impact wrench.
Means less money wasted on batteries.
at least here idk about there
they like to do ryobi days at home depot
literally just giving away batteries and tools i stg
I'll probably just wait around and see if something comes up.
200 bucks for a 1/2 drive brushless mid torque impact
and then a 6ah, 4ah, and 2ah battery with charger
Something I don't like about Ryobi is that they are insert style of batteries.
have you had issues with them
Can't say that I have. It just seems like everyone has moved away from that style of battery.
well
the one single issue i have had
is the electric die grinder
if your tool that you have mounted in it gets out of balance
the vibration starts to do damage to the clips on the side that hold the battery in
but i feel like thats more my user error lmao
otherwise even on the impacts it works fine
i dropped my 3/8 impact and it didnt seem to care
tbh as long as you get a widely recognized brand
probably gonna work fine 👍
because i have stuff from several brands and guess what
it all works as advertised 😂
For now I'm just making sure that my muffs are working as they should.
I swear. If another cable is broken...
Have already gone through two cables for them.
Yeah, a basic BMW M2 is faster than it
644 HP can't compensate its mass
It is what they say.
HP makes you faster on the straights.
Less weight makes you faster everywhere.
Real XM
We used to have the wagon in the family.
I remember the fuel capacity being something stupid like 80 liters.
seeing diesel price parity with petril is sad
Just a typical Citroën from the 90s
@random oar did you whip out the dslr for checo's crash?
checo perez is washed and will probably be replaced next year
daniel ricciardo, pierre gasly, alex albon, and now sergio perez
max verstappen and the red bull c**k machine (i cant say the word)
Unfortunately wasn't near that part of the track. He kept locking up into turn 1 tho, he was awful
i saw that huge lock up on live stream, he absolutely shredded those tires
Annoying because when I was in a diesel it was more expensive, now im in a horrible petrol thing while fixing my dturbo and diesel is so cheap :^ |
I have a rare set of new Phase 2 305 wings but they are worth more than half what I paid for this car heh.
have doors aswell
Bricc
brick is practical but is a petrol sadly
I drive for work alot and the diesel just sips
muh v70 does gulp le petrol a bit
not that the diesel would have been much better
I think the real world diff is like 5 mpg but at the time I got it, diesel price would've meant the improvement wasnt worth it
That and low emission zones on something in that too new but too old ground
mmm true
I really wanted a E39 diesel but too new atm.
I can avoid LEZ pretty much entirely so it wasnt a massive consideration
I don't really go in either except glasgow rarely but with how shitty glasgow public transport is and glasgow people ehhh
oh yeah glasgow is basically a no go area now fo me
for all its faults edinburgh at least has a billion bus routes
That and with Dunfermline getting its city status its only a matter of time :^)
Dunfermline City rise up
fake city
how is dunfermline anyway
dead as ever, what even happens.
ig its more of a commuter town city
Getting gentrified by edinburgh people who actually want to own a property
might be me someday ig
if I can ever afford it
about half the people I work with commute from dunfermline I think. which is a bit odd given that its a minimum wage job
If I keep getting random branches and stuff stuck under my car should I get a skid plate or underbody shield whatever tf it's called?
yes and skid plates protect your undercarriage for scrapes and improve fuel economy
my bimmer comes with a skidplate from the factory 🥰
i love the care bmw has for their cars
who pinged
that's what happens when someone buys a middle class white family soccer mom hauler but forgets their fico is 400 and 2 months behind on rent
💀
Just spotted this 4er convertible test car, I was unable to see if the front is still a pig
Highly likely.
Paid for a Matte ppf film... Makes lunar rock 100x better
Friends opel is finally done
2007 impala. parked it 2 yrs ago over this issue. brake peddle would randomly just not move almost causing a car on car collision twice. right before it was to late to stop the brakes would suddenly work again. was a week in between the 2 incidences with zero warning it was going to happen. anyone have a clue what i should be looking for? im going to replace the brake cylinder and think i may have to replace the booster but all the videos i have watched so far on symptoms do not bring this particular one up. also had this same problem with a van and sold it shortly after i almost drove through a building wall
Booster
Possible vacuum issue
Maybe the check valve but I'd have to look at it
Looks amazing
sigh thnx .. starting to really dislike vehicles 😛
Another A frame enthusiast came to collect the renault today heh
Ive never really felt unsafe in a car but a renault 4 booking it came close.
Aww my 2 stroke oil made a ground rainbow
"Hey! You can't park there!"
That's like a 9/10 for execution.
And probably a -5/10 for what they chose to execute.

My highest mile car has 285k miles currently
I have the highest mileage car within our family at... 104.1k miles
The second highest mileage car is my parents... At 104.0k miles

My lowest is like 87k
My hemi charger is 285 at the highest and my Yukon Denali is almost to 87k
Ghent, Belgium.
Apparently.
From the Volvo US website.
Wasn't that the 2nd generation?
Those were made in Ghent

Jesus christ, man
I have found this very old video, for all those who can't speak Germanhttps://youtu.be/Im2eYuGdmfY
Have you ever wondered about the right way to pronounce Porsche? Or do you know someone who pronounces it in a wrong way? Be sure to let them know about this video.
I thought it was pronounced “Volkswagen”
no but many people say porsch and not porsche
whoooosh
porch
No. Volkswagen's are unreliable and burn oil and are slow. Porsche's are reliable, easily getting 200000km-300000km before needing any sort of rebuild giving them the most reliable engines of any sports car. They're also extremely fast with the 918 beating both Ferrari and McLaren equivalents and GT3RS being a top tier track car. Porsche also operates almost entirely independently from VW, Porsche even builds their own engines and licenses engineers to VW competitors. Audi which actually is just expensive Volkswagen has their own racing team as well. Why would Volkswagen make 2 racing teams. If VW had any actual control over Porsche they likely would of merged Audi into Porsche by now. Porsche is a company that VW has a sizable stake in, like Toyota owning a large share of Subaru. Some influence but not directly managed. Audi on the other hand is a Volkswagen brand that operates entirely under VW management and is just expensive VW. VW and Porsche haven't been comparable since VW stopped making the original Beetle (because all supercar Porsche's are built off of the original Beetle).
I know it's a joke. I'm sorry for the rant. It just makes me irrationally angry when people compare any other German brand to Porsche because with a few exceptions Porsche's are the only reliable German cars.
New Porsche is good
there is some crossovers between VW/Audi like the Cayenne platform and Taycan etc
The Macan as well
Not a fan of the old 911s or even 911s in general. They just don’t feel revolutionized. The Caymans feel like much more playful, smaller and fun cars
my hot take on the e60 m5 is that is sounds terrible and it shouldve had a naturally aspirated v8
😅
ooof
I hope this is purely an american take and you haven't had the pleasure of owning a diesel vw.
Live in Canada so basically no Diesel here, and some of the golf's were good but most of VW burns oil and breaks down.
my car's steering is too heavy to do the one handed palm steering 🤣
the power steering fluid is filled
Well yeah especially the TSI engines are notoriously bad, but the TDIs are really reliable and popular here in europe.
canada has no diesel?
are your semi trucks gasoline?
Just very little diesel, like the US. Diesel is pretty much purely transport. Trucks, Trains, ships, the like. There's a few HD diesel pick-ups. Than some Diesel Gate era VWs and the like
ok i didnt realize my country is low on diesel too
Diesel is either terrible for the environment or delivers terrible performance. It's been losing popularity, especially in NA, for a while.
Theres not really a reason to use it
Especially with the idea we can make gasoline out of corn now
yeah, or even Porsche's synthetic E-Fuel and hydrogen engines growing in popularity.
There are a lot more than a "few" diesel trucks
Hydrogen i dunno
Theres what maybe 3 from each manufacturer?
I was talking about on the road
They're very popular
Well yes but he was referring to how many are being made
Ford offers six diesels
Not including the one in the f150
Well
They're all the same engine
But different trucks
loads still here, makes sense if you do actual miles.
Suppose if you are in America paying 2p for fuel its whatever heh.
Ah, good times... Burnt out rear tail light connector on a BMW E60.
Weird bit: this is a known issue, so there's a recommendation to add an additional ground to the lamp holder. Did that seven years ago when this happened the first time though, so not sure what made it short and melt this time around...
Ooh, that's a thing of beauty. Gives my 525i a real inferiority complex 🤩
Well, right up until the rod bearing discussion starts 😝
I need more wheeltime in both E39 and E60 M5 before I can give my opinion on which is the greatest car ever made, but it's one of them.
With proper engine management and longer driving distances, there's no reason not to choose diesel. Where it all went wrong was making too small engines and putting them in city runabout-type cars that do mostly short journeys. For that, if you can't reasonably choose an EV, gasoline is still king.
There's a reason why almost all heavy vehicles and a lot of larger pickup trucks skew towards diesel engines. Decent benefits to torque and fuel economy, at least if you get enough distance to get to proper operating temps and stay there long enough for the exhaust systems to clean out (particle filters with their heat regen etc).
I love my corsa
Ah, that famous Vauxhall quality 🙂
In the rest of Europe, those come courtesy of Opel, which has the Norwegian backronym Ofte Parkert Etter Landevegen (Often parked by the side of the road).
Very similar to Ford's "Fix Or Repair Daily" or BMW's "Big Money Wasted" :p
I just made some modifications to get rid of my lights dimming from my sub and power steering... and wow. Maybe a little overkill?
(2 900CCA batteries, + 5 farad capacitor)
Don't mind the rats nest lol. Most of that is just excess cables running to the amp. Once I get a new head unit I plan on cleaning that up
Not too sure if it's overkill or not. Adding the capacitor decreased the light flickering to a linear dim. After adding the second battery the dimming went away completely.
My sub can do 2500w RMS, but keep in mind this is also in a Dodge Charger Pursuit.
I have installed some police lights and sirens on it, as well as a ton of other different accessories (Police scanner, radar detector) and it tends to draw A LOT of power.
The sirens alone draw around 1000w, and when using them all other accessories tend to shut off (Probably insufficient battery current?) When adding that second battery, it completely solved that
starts popping the popcorn and waits for garble to appear in an "arrested for impersonating police" video on youtube
fr 💀
A man, only known by the name "Garble" has been arrested for impersonating police
Go all in, register an address in Florida first, so you can be "Florida man arrested for <almost inconceivable crime>" 😂
If I wanted to learn about tuning or ECU whatever it's called where would be the best place for me to learn? Aside from just randomly looking up "how to ECU" on YouTube
I've heard more "complain" about that... Mostly British tho? My Opel Corsa glovebox works just fine 🤔
How is it easier to learn about something...than possibly the greatest information gathering tool ever invented by mankind? Not sure I have an answer to that one, mate
How did the Germans fuck up so bad that your tail light connector of all things decides to melt
Depends on which ecu you want to work with, as that can change the answer to the question drastically
🔥 gtr
They way they always do. They do the math, find the material amount that should be sufficient, and go with the science.
So, they end up with a ground cirquit for the rear taillights that is entirely good on paper and works great for a while, but if you get any sort of degradation or corrosion on a connector it is no longer enough... so the conncectors start to degrade and eventually burn out.
Now, normally they catch bullshit like this in the first couple of model years, but mine was manufactured at the end of 2009, which means it was amongst the last E60's ever made... and they have had the issue in multiple models for that entire decade :p
A mistake like that just seems goofy to me
Oh yes. They never miss the big stuff, it's always stupid little mistakes like this.
And while there has been a number of recalls for burning E46, E60/61 and E90/91, this somehow never made it to the recall list.
Mine's been in to correct potential fire hazards twice, one of them not 20 cm from where this problem is :p (they had a recall due to battery connectors a couple of years back).
Anyway... it's a $3 part, if you don't ignore the error code when it starts appearing you have plenty of time to change it before it damages anything else, so this is just one of those things I'll have to do every six to eight years it seems :p
Could redo the wiring to the tail lights
Make it a heavier gauge
For everything
But that's a lot of work I'd imagine on a bmw
Oddly enough, there is an additional ground on the taillight in question, the mechanic added it the last time, but I gotta check to make sure it's actually good.
It goes from the ground terminal on the body to the ground plate on the lamp holder, but in the guides I've found they route the ground to the nut holding the terminal in place... Time to dig out the multimeter I guess.
Diesel is still $0.20/gal cheaper than gas right now so it's great
And last time I filled my truck up I was getting like 14.5mpg
Same price here atm but ofcourse get more miles on diesel.
In NL it's cheaper, but road tax is twice as high so you need to do quite some miles to make up for that
And you got stricter emission rules during inspection which a lot fail
And the diesel price fluctuates, not that long ago it was even more then petrol
Cause I literally know nothing so idk maybe someone can recommend a specific YouTube channel maybe there's some free course on udemy or maybe there's a really good video game that you can learn all this stuff in the same way you can learn how to fly a plane using flight simulator maybe there's something like that for cars and engine tuning that's accurate etc. There could be a million better ways than just randomly watching whatever I think is what I'm looking for so I figured let me go ahead and ask some people who are familiar with this sort of stuff to see if maybe they can give me a better alternative because this is not something I want to trial and error cause I don't want to Fk up my car and if you don't know it serves no purpose to tell me you don't know I'm still going to ask around regardless
Only downside is with low emission zones if you arent like 2015 onwards here really
but im classic exempt so no bother :^)
I like older cars and the petrols are just garbage for MPG.
That and can run crackhead fuels like veg oil and engine oil if desperate heh.
Put e85 in it and melt your fuel lines
There was this girl in my class who was like "e85 sucks it ruins your car" and we had to explain to her that you cant put it in just any car
The one petrol car I own I run what is labled E5 but actually has 0% ethanol
Biden said a year ago we have to make e10 all year round now
He came to my state cause we make it here
E10 is standard here but dont like using it on older cars.
I dont know why he came out here. Maybe he didnt know we have cable and the internet
As mine does like 1400MPG I try to use as little ethanol as possible
Yeah we havent figured out how to get all of the energy out of the corn yet
We are working on that though
Head was scratched a bit by the engineering place and head gasket was damaged in post but I put it together anyway heh.
I am interested to see how it fairs as it is a MLS head gasket
E10 is standard for 95 octane here too... Not liking it one bit, so I fill 98 octane instead.
I frequently go long periods without driving, and since ethanol is hygroscopic it's more likely to cause me condesation issues.
You are going to use the corn fuel and you are going to like it
Nah, LPG go brrr
extra virgin vegetable oil
Used frying oil
Diesel. lol
I always got for 98 octane without ethanol
Ethanol free is hard to get by these days.
Check the suppliers specs if it contains E5 or not.
Yeah it’s only a couple of gas station companies here that don’t add ethanol to their “E5”
Shell being one of them
“Shell V-Power does not contain ethanol”
I image it should say "Does not contain more than 5% Ethanol". Because that's what I find.
But I guess that's for the UK market.
Lots of them legally have to say E5 here but alot actually have 0% ethanol in reality.
I know many markets also have to have Ethanol blends as a requirement. IDK about NL.
Yeah they can only say E10 or E5 here, but it's up to 10 or 5%, 0% is also up to 5%. There's no minimum
IIRC E10 is actually required to have some ethanol in it, can’t be 0% like E5 can
I.... Do not know, could be
Mhhh
🤮
At least in the US, E10 is pretty much always 10% ethanol
E15 is 15% ethanol
E10 can be in any octane rating, 87, 89, 91, 93. E15 is 88 octane
E85 ofc is 85% ethanol
We do have E0 fuel here, that is 0% ethanol, but it is pretty rare and only exists in the center of the country from what I've seen
I put ethanol free in my two strokes
Took the 15 year old rice burner out for a drive today
duh duh duh duhhhh MAX VERSTAPPEN!
mitsubishi. they dont make them like they used to
Thanks. I’ll look out for that the next time.
Even Tango (Q8) claims no ethanol added
Maverick carries ethanol free here
Is that a spiced up Lancer or a full on Evo? Either way, gorgeous.
Worth noting that the UK and US measure Octane number differently, just FYI
AKI and RON.
Automatische KnipperlichtInstallatie
Anti-Knock Index
Evo. Thanks 🍻
🧐
Surprise. Mother trucker?
But with that said. Detachable tow hooks are kind of meh.
🥜
NUT
No, Skoda's look like BMW
I recently had a Kamiq I think behind me, and the headlights really got me confused
No it was the Karoq
That really looked BMW to me

(it was darker, and the DRL is shaped like that of BMW... so is the grill)
Bluetooth technology making an appearance in the automotive industry
That's quite shocking.
enter the service position
Yeah, no. That's fairly consistent with the BMW design language. Thank god.
The 3/4 series and the 7 series can go die in a fire, and I'm glad BMW backed down and didn't mess up the 5 series too badly as well.
And lately, there's nothing wrong with looking like a Skoda. Best looking product of the VAG group these days 😂
Not nearly as bad as feared, and it looks better if you go for the non-M EV grill.
The blacked out grill is terrible.
Then again, with the 5-series they're looking progressively worse every generation, with the exception of F10/F11.
E28 is a thing of beauty. E34 a little less. E39 isn't bad-looking, and the E60 had grown a lot on me since it's initial launch (to the point where I bought one).
But it's been a few years since BMW made anything truly headturning.
i like the f90 m5 cs 🥵
That one of your trucks or a customers vehicle?
Customer vehicle
Same with this duramax that just needed trans cooler lines
Deezul
deezul
Bricklink you need individual pieces it costs about 700 bucks
The new 5 series looks like a FWD sedan
Since the hood is higher now
And the rear bumper is straight out of a subaru outback
And side profile is basically just an accord
Its an abomination
Idk how they manage to fuck up every single one of their new designs, not even one has looked remotely good
I would describe the new 5 series as looking like a 2 series gran coupe
Hey now, we do not mention the 2 series in polite company...
Except for the sedan, the M2 is to me the spiritual successor of the original M3 😄
I don't mind the 2 Active/Gran Tourer
For the type of car it's a nice one
Better than the Gran Coupe
Yes, but that's like saying at least the armed robber was the most polite armed robber you've encountered.
My parents are possibly considering this one
The entire minivan/peoplecarrier genre is a hateful thing.
Almost as bad as Crossover SUVs
Minivan > cross-over any day
@brittle totem maybe also joining the F45 family
Although my parents switch between getting a new car or continuing driving their current one like daily
But this one's a nice spec, 220i so 4-cyl, M-Sport, camel interior, heads-up display, ACC, Pano roof...
All that spec comes at a price tho, hot damn it's expensive
25k for a 6 year old FWD BMW mini-van
I've come to the realization that I'm never going to get a decently priced car that fits my formula ever again.
Same
So far, every car I have owned has been a black BMW with an inline 6 engine and rear wheel drive. In fact, only the latest one has violated the Layout of the Automotive Gods, having an automatic instead of a manual.
Your next one is going to be a FWD 1er with a 3-cyl
But now, even if yo do find an i6, it's contaminated by forced induction or it's hilariously expensive.
I have a strong feeling my next one will be all electric. Hopefully I can get another 10 years out of my E60 though.
It's only done 104000 km, so there's plenty meat left on the bone.
No 225i xDrive 🥲
And apart from the usual melted rear tail light connectors, It's been remarkably reliable so far. Had to change some o2 sensors when it was ten years old, other than that it's been nothing but normal service and some worn out suspension components.
Yeah that is a bit expensive our was like €16k for 225i xDrive with all options a part from the pano roof and m sport.
No need for xDrive, also finding one here is almost impossible, and additionally finding a Dutch one is very unlikely
You don't even want to know used prices in Norway...
It's a 2017 with 65k km, that might help
Even though the weak currency now means there's more used export than import.
There is only 15 225i in Sweden and only 7 of them has xDrive so they are very rare here to but for some reason cheaper then a similar 220i.
225: 95 Xe models so the PHEV, 1 225i xDrive... Which is €35k
Yeah our was 2015 with 110k km when we bought it. Does it have the nbt evo iDrive ?
Heh... the cheapest F10/F11 LCI (2014-2017) with an inline 6 petrol engine currently for sale in Norway is NOK 549147 (€49203)...
It's a 2017 540i Touring.
Yeah there is a lot of 225Xe here to i guess they where basically "free" as company cars when they came out. Our one has the full driver assistance package to which make it even rarer i dont think i have seen any used active tourer that has that a part from some 2020-2021 225Xe.
That is just the regular NBT right ? The one we have i would suggest you to find a mid 2017 with updated iDrive which is much better and includes apple carplay to.
Yeah I thought this one had it, but I'm not sure. Maybe it's not, could be. Haven't looked in to
it too much
Could be that it's just an LCI thing
I know NBT Evo has AA/ACP
Many Xe are specced poorly here
And idk about the reliability of the drivetrain
Yeah I think that's NBT
Expensive a very well speced 2017 540i in Sweden is listed at 308700sek/€26880. https://www.blocket.se/annons/jamtland/bmw_540_i_sportline_head_up_glastak_softclose_p_vvarmare_hk/107784861
Ah, and sold by our friendly thugs at Bavaria, the scourge of all BMW owner wallets in the nordic region 😄
That actually looks fairly compelling, even with the brown leather interior...
Here's the one I was looking at: https://www.finn.no/car/used/ad.html?finnkode=304756868
Finansiering fra 0 kontant Fantastisk flott 1 eiers bil med lav km stand. Ok there are 3 imports available... 2 with the small display, and those are already 6k more
1 with the big screen, and that's 36k so 12k more
Even worse with the white leather :p
I don't think my parents fancy spending 12k more just to get AA/ACP
Average 225Xe here as the iDrive professional and hud but still the base seats.
So just a bit never 2017 F45 is 12k more ?
This one has a nice interior
Yeah no you then go to a 2020, but there's almost no 4-cyl F45 with ACC available
I could go 2010/2011 F10 to get a more moderately priced inline 6, but I refuse to pay more than 300k for a 2011 F10 when my 2010 E60 cost me 260k in 2015 :p
Pano roof
Sucks that getting an affordable 6 cylinder is getting harder.
Straight six. To be specific.
Yeah... I'm just going to drive my E60 until it falls apart...
That must be pretty much a fully loaded one i dont think you can get anything more then that. Let me guess it's like €35k to.
Yeah I checked what the Norwegian market had to offer a while back and j could basically only find 520i/520d with a stupid amount of options on it for a 520. I guess that has to do with the tax in Norway on fossil cars.
No this one is 24k but it's the pre-LCI
It's missing H/K audio en power seats
But otherwise it's quite full
Power seats are nice if it's a shared car. For mine it's set and forget :p
But it's the only 4-cyl ACC and Original Dutch car
I assume you mean power seats with memory 🙂
My parents have the same setting, only mine is different but it's usually just the most back setting
And I barely drive it normally
Yeah I think BMW only has power seats with memory? Could be wrong
But yeah impossible to find one with everything
Already hard enough to find a 4 cyl
Mine's a base spec, so it has manual forward/backward, but powered recline and seat height.
And no memory.
I think the manual forward/backward is a win to be honest. A lot faster to adjust than holding down a button forever. Just grab the handle and pull, straighten your legs to where you want them, bob's your uncle 😄
Especially since they put the handle in a sensible position, on the forward side of the seat instead of between your legs at the front.
Yeah our is missing power seats and H/K to but I think it has the hifi system it sounds good at least.
Yeah H/K isn't worth the premium over HiFi
HiFi over standard is worth it
However, my parents have now seen this .. but they rarely go through with something
Especially as I've sold them recently they should continue driving their current car for the next 2 years
With the maintenance, tires, brakes etc we've done to it, I think we can run it for 2 years with just a single service/oil change next year
That's cheap motoring
Just replaced the water pump in my POS Seat Leon
and I don't think I realised how long it had been noisy
in the three weeks prior to fixing it it was loud as fuck
but I think it's been noisy for a while and I just assumed it was engine noise lmao
Poor unfortunate souls.
Thought the DOT bumper was fairly sturdy..
Don’t think I fit in a Camry

Did you know what car this is? Looks like an Audi
Aventador
OK almost the same both Volkswagen
Ever just aquaplane and torque oversteer bc your car is as light as carton box w wheels
we have a pile of garbage Kia forte for a rental car
I never realized how much I take automatic climate control for granted
or quality materials
quality anything really
makes me wanna check my timing belt lol
me with a chain
I don't know if automatic climate control is the same for kias and chevys but I absulutly hate it. My 2004 trailblazer has it and if you accidently bump the temperature knob it kicks into full auto (fan full blast and whatever the freak it wants for vents). I just want a knob that sets the fan, temperature, and vents; is that too hard to ask for?
My 2015 WRX has full manual control and a button that sets it to auto fan speed and full auto. None of the buttons lock in and the dials are just higher or lower so their position doesn't matter.
my 2011 bmw has auto dual zone climate control and it's perfect 👌
I heard you like crankshafts https://youtu.be/5SuTJwlDGwo?t=140
Welcome back to the Fluctus Channel for details on the crazy engineering behind the massive engines powering modern container ships today.
Fluctus is a website and YouTube channel dedicated to sea geeks. Whenever you are curious or an incorrigible lover of this mysterious world, our videos are made for you !
We publish 3 videos a week on our ...
my 2015 Mazda 6 has the same thing
well similar
knob for fan speed, buttons to switch between vent positions, and 1 knob for passenger 1 for driver for the temp
any change to the fan speed takes it off auto, otherwise it handles itself nicely
yeah, any setting change aside from temp takes it off full auto, on semi-auto it only changes fan speed, than it has full manual if you mess with fan speed.
that is what you get for driving a ramp on the street
"Oh these are the weapons" - james may
change the clock
excellent quote
well
My Cadillac has an auto climate control and it's very annoying
I've also seen every top gear episode 3 times over, its not really extreme memory 😄
you should
I know
so where did you get the clip from
Its on the list
Saw it on the interwebz one time
My bike has a belt, my car has a chain
I want to get a bike
Lmaoo I was gonna say that
I even hear it in his voice
It's the Panamera, Rapide and Quattroporte episode iirc?
yeah
now kith
its a Peugeot, I would rather not if thats okay
French kiss
they use too much tongue
I take it you don't want to exchange fluids with another car
trying to get a half decent audio setup in my miata
turns out the tuning by default basically doesn't acknowledge the 250-400 hz range exists so this is a problem

its fine that range is optional, who needs to listen to all of the song anyways
shit isn't V shaped it's |_| shaped
best shape
which generation do you have?
the one with th speakers in the headrest?
it's an ND2 without the bose system
like it's actually so bad that they're reaching out to a contact at mazda directly to see if my system is just borked
2020
Especially a Miata
Maybe they were trying to force you to upgrade to the nicer system lol
If everybody complains about that package level sound system sucking then it might drive people to get the higher one
Then again oem setups are kinda hit or miss
I mean this is directly out of the "brain" TAU, so in the bose system it's just that but amplified
that's the fun part, they aren't even
The mazda 3 premium audio is this sick as fuck setup with tweeters, 3" mids in the doors, and custom woofers for the lower end
volvo gang! they usually are surprisingly good
I mean.. vw sells cars with beats audio setups
yeah thats terrible too but it probably wont sound like its broken
It would probably be better if it was broken
😄
My ND1 has the bose, it's pretty good
And does an amzing job at cancelling out wind noise (which is a feature of the Bose system)
Poggers those look quite nice
I think treating them once with a black leather cleaner will get most of the crevices out of it
Did they also come with seat heating?
