Yeah. That's what I'm thinking with my initial thoughts.

#

I forget if they all came with air suspension on all four corners. Or if it was just the rear.

fathom socket
#

I have seen a lot of W220 on the internet with lowered suspension

civic spoke
#

It's common to swap out problematic air suspension to normal springs.

fathom socket
#

Another one, taken by Doug DeMuro

brittle totem
#

Couldn't do more then 2 hours in stratch without taking a break. Even the backseats are more comfortable the front seats which is bascially never the case. If we dont talk about luxery cars.

fathom socket
#

Just don't do long road trips on exotics then

"And here you see the S class in its normal resting position" - David Attenborough

So wait. If you improve on an issue. Are you making it worse? makesyouthink

#

Longest road trip that I have done, in the worst seats. Were probably a drive up to my cousins in a Citroen Nemo

deep zealot
#

why do people slam their cars so low on daily cars

brittle totem
fathom socket
#

The problem is it is too expensive

#

Not only to buy, but to fuel and to maintain

#

I would suggest more of a hybrid or EV type

brittle totem
fathom socket
#

Like Lexus ES, Toyota Camry XLE, Tesla Model S, BMW i7/i4, Honda Accord, etc.

civic spoke
#

500 km's with these seats. Nonstop.

civic spoke
#

There is however one E46 in my garage that's uhh. I believe the front springs have given up.

The steering wheel looks like it's ripped straight off a VW Polo or something.

#

It's probably nice enough to drive. But I just couldn't.

#

Those seats also look mediocre, at best.

fathom socket
#

Doug DeMuro explains the S Class

#

Even though it is the worst S Class, it is still good compared to many cars

civic spoke
#

When it's good. It's great.
When it's bad. OH BOY IS IT BAD.

#

He stood next to the EQS while talking about his Cars And Bids. I would that car is also fairly terrible.

supple anchor
#

Euro plate or no euro plate

#

What looks better?

civic spoke
#

I can't believe they allow you to run an secondary plate. tbh

#

Even if it is from another country.

supple anchor
#

In the United States in a state that doesn’t require front plates you can put whatever you want on the front

civic spoke
#

I would just figure that you wouldn't be allowed to put an actual license plate there. Considering that the plate could come back to an actual vehicle in Germany.

feral reef
#

Why not

#

If the plate doesn’t mean anything in x country

#

I really wish I’d be allowed to run without a front plate here

#

Temped to just try it and see how long it takes to get a ticket

stoic ledge
#

Probably fast as fronts are used by ANPR? I think

#

Also some speedcameras

civic spoke
# feral reef Why not

Okay. Say that you have an American plate in the back. And an Canadian plate up front (where I believe it's required?). How would they know where that vehicle is from?

stoic ledge
#

Maybe they can even WOK your car? Ngl wouldn't try it

civic spoke
#

Or even worse. Say that you're visiting Canada with an American plate in the rear, Canadian in the front.

#

What happens then?

feral reef
#

Well they’d just run the local plate see if anything comes up

civic spoke
#

I know that plenty people are running Euro plates in the front of their Euro cars in America. But I'm sure it can't be totally legal.

feral reef
#

I seriously doubt they could do anything about that

#

Since it’s just decorative essentially

civic spoke
#

I would probably just get a different vanity plate. Just to be certain it wouldn't come back to anything.

#

I'm sure countries reuse combinations that become free once the previous car gets deregistered.

stoic ledge
#

In certain European countries the plate is connected to the owner

#

So if you switch cars you take the plate with you

civic spoke
#

Here they are connected with the car.

stoic ledge
#

NL same

#

BE and DE not

stoic ledge
civic spoke
#

But I still imagine that once a car become deregistered that the plate becomes reusable again.

feral reef
#

I don’t think that’s the case in NL

stoic ledge
#

In NL only when you reregister that exact car again

#

Plates are numbered/dated/.. by first NL registration

#

So a 2023 car with a 2003 would look weird

civic spoke
#

Older cars in Sweden would have the combination of ABC123, but as a few years ago they switched over to ABC12D

stoic ledge
#

NL goes to combinations crazy fast

feral reef
#

I remember when all cars had XX-XX-XX plates

#

And then suddenly there were different formats

#

8-10 year old me got very confused

#

Or however long ago that was

civic spoke
#

I believe for Germany, then the first letters is basically the area code?

stoic ledge
#

XX-99-XX and then XX-XX-99 was to like 2000, then 2000-2007 had 99-XX-XX, 2008-2012 99-XXX-9, 2012-2015 9-XXX-99, 2015-2019 XX-999-X, 2019- X-999-XX. Could be slightly off, but especially the last 2 decades quite fast

civic spoke
#

The problem with using numbers is that we don't really have too many to pick from.

#

Which is why Sweden is using four letters, and two numbers now.

stoic ledge
#

They limit a lot of letters here

civic spoke
#

Instead of three letters/three numbers.

feral reef
#

Can’t beat my PP though

stoic ledge
#

Usually G, H, J, K, L, N, P, R, S, T, X and Z as starting letters, and then other vowels as other letters (excluding stuff like Y and C I think?)

stoic ledge
#

AA-<number> , fixed AA

feral reef
#

I want a plate like 00-RPJ-0

stoic ledge

Can't have J I think

stoic ledge
wispy cloak

$356 every six months for liability alone

wispy cloak
#

And that truck had a 5.9L V8

#

Horrible emissions I'm sure

civic spoke
#

With the emissions, that is.

wispy cloak
#

Doesn't really have a usable towing or payload capacity

#

It's a muscle truck

civic spoke
#

Government see it as a truck. Therefore it's used for work.
Basically.

The original version was mopar's way at skirting around emissions regulations to make a muscle vehicle

#

(The original version was the lil red express)

That truck there.

wispy cloak

Also the 9.25 corporate rear end

#

Now you Europeans will love this

#

If I had emissions inspections my truck would be exempt because it's a "commercial vehicle"

#

The f350

civic spoke
#

Considering that they are heavy enough to require a C1 license.

#

Along with a tachograph.

#

Oh, and it would be limited to 90 kmh, too.

wispy cloak
#

And I was daily driving it from November until last week 💀

#

From the factory it was speed limited to 96mph but when I tuned it the limiter was subsequently disabled

#

The tires are rated for 112mph if I remember right

#

And I've had it pretty dang close to that

civic spoke
#

Anything with a GVWR of over 3,500 kg is required to be limited to 90 kmh.

wispy cloak
#

It would keep going if I had the tire to let it

wispy cloak
#

It has a 9800lbs gvwr

civic spoke
#

Euro rules. starX

wispy cloak
#

That's 4445kg according to google

#

But you are right

#

My truck would be a nightmare to drive there

#

It's a crew cab long bed so it's 22ft long

civic spoke
#

Let me check how long my truck is...

#

It's 27 feet.

#

But I would almost imagine it having a better turning radius.

wispy cloak
#

🦅

#

My turning radius is yes

civic spoke
#

I believe that I have a 16.5 foot bed? Around there.

#

Slightly longer than 5 meters.

wispy cloak
#

I have an 8ft bed

civic spoke
#

Heaviest load that I have willingly loaded on another truck that was basically the same was 19+ tonnes.

#

So 42,000 lbs

But after we saw the brake pads they also said they put on it, we understood. They just used major cheapo components for everything they replaced. # wispy cloak How do you know it didn't already blow up

I mean there were videos of it cranking but not starting. I don't particularly know that it wasn't blown up, but the reward would have been worth the risk of it being blown up. But even if it were blown up, it would still be worth more than what they were asking for it. I could've parted it out for twice my initial investment if it turned out to have been blown up

#

I do however admit that at 210,503 miles, there is an overwhelming possibility that it was, indeed, blown up

wispy cloak
#

If it needed a new oil pump then that means they probably ran it for long enough to figure out it didn't have oil pressure

wind peak
#

That's actually exactly what the listing said. That it cranked but didn't start, and didn't have any oil pressure.

wispy cloak
#

😬

#

It's probably dead

#

And the mileage would make me question the usability of the rest of the drivetrain without a full rebuild

wind peak
#

Understandable. Still would've been a really cool base to build off of. We have so many random Ford parts lying around that we probably could have made a working car if we tried. Guess I'll just keep an eye on the 2011 listing for now then

timber oar
#

God i would have said 500 max

wind peak
# wispy cloak Why do you prefer the 3.7

Because it has the same power output rating as the three valve 4.6 V8's from the earlier fifth gens (about ~300HP, with slightly different torque ratings) but the insurance rates are cheaper, and it gets better gas mileage than the 4.6 or the Coyote

timber oar
#

wants a mustang

#

whines about mpg

wind peak
#

That's just based on specs though. Speaking honestly, it's because I don't trust myself with that kind of power output. I've never owned or driven for any extensive period of time, 1. any car with an engine bigger than a 4 cylinder, 2. any car that's rear wheel drive, or 3. has a manual transmission. So going from a dinky little automatic front wheel drive 4cyl to a twice as powerful rear driven manual V8 is a recipe for ending up in one of those mustang crash compilations.

timber oar
#

I judge you lmao

#

Jk

wispy cloak
#

The issue is with the 3.7 is that it just isn't worth it as a car

#

You can always sandbag in the 5.0 until you're ready for more power

#

Or if you're worried about fuel economy you could go out and get something with a 1.8t and slap a bigger turbo on it

#

Little car and 300hp with the same insurance rates

#

As much as I like mustangs they just aren't good for much besides straight line speed

Unless you mod them heavily

timber oar
#

And they look cool

#

Mustang hawt

#

Prepare to hate yourself working on European shit

wind peak
#

Really, more than anything, if I'm being honest, I only worry about that stuff because that's what my family cares about in a car. I don't really care about horsepower. I don't really care about gas consumption. But my family does, and if they don't approve of whatever I get, then it's just gonna be a bad time all around. I just wanna find something that's broken and fix it. If it were my choice, I'd find an old firebird and bring it back to life. Or a rusted out foxbody. But I just don't live in a place where there are many of those around. Or in a situation where I can make enough money to get ahold of something like that easily. The most unique looking car in my college's student parking lot is a 91 cavalier, everything else is shiny new plastic junk that all looks the same. Old stuff is just hard to come by where I live. Hell, I'd be happy with the 94 Miata sitting in my neighbor's garage that has the clutch burned out of it and has been sitting for a decade. I just wanna fix something

There are aftermarket head units for the E46. But I am not really too keen on the android/smartpad look.

gentle ingot
#

I had to open the factory unit, install a daughterboard, and re-route some ribbon cables to get the hookup in the Porsche. Took a couple hours of head-scratching, but if I had to do it again I could knock it out in about 30 minutes I think. It's full fiberoptic into the MOST bus, and a solid implementation. Worth the hassle, I think.

This is worst case scenario.

But you can stuff that looks like this also.

How would I upgrade this?

My brother hade something like this in all of his E9x and it worked great for him its basically an fm signal to Bluetooth adapter https://protax.se/products/fm-sandare-premium?variant=37591809720519

Protax

Dessutom

brittle totem

It's a problem you get with all FM ones. There are only so many free channels, and the ones that are free are taken up by other people with FM receivers.

Hyundai and Kia will be the new Toyota and Honda, of the late 2020s on

#

Ironically, Toyota and Honda suffered the most from production issues

#

Hyundai and Kia seem to have mostly rebounded from production issues

#

Hyundai and Kia dealers nearby have a lot of cars on the lot as well as customers but Toyota and Honda seem to have less cars

#

And many of them are marked up

#

Hyundai and Kia however, don't suffer from markups
