sinful creek
# vocal turtle I have a welding question and I’ve been told this is the most appropriate channe...

Depends on the metal. You'll first want to prep it with sandpaper, a wire brush, or grinder to remove any surface rust that can get under your welds. Since it'll be outside, you should use something you can weld consistently with so you don't get any holes through the remaining frame. I would recommend MIG/TIG due to the protection Argon provides, it lessens corrosion between your filler material and work piece too. As for the material, if it's softer or somewhat thin like aluminum you'll want to stay with TIG since having precise voltage control will help you maintain a very consistent and clean weld. If it's harder/thicker, like steel, you'll probably want MIG since it can penetrate deeper. Then you finish it up with a weather coating primer.

Also @upbeat hatch , I recently found out Opel's were actually sold in Australia for a brief period PogChomp

For the first time ever, the Opel brand was introduced to Australia on 1 September 2012, including the Corsa, Astra, Astra GTC, and Insignia models. On 2 August 2013, Opel announced it was ending exports to Australia due to poor sales, with only 1,530 vehicles sold in the first ten months.

stoic ledge

They're now available in NZ again

#

Not in Australia

stoic ledge
#

Uncertain, could be, although the "competing" Holden is also gone...

Maybe NZ is a test pilot, if it works out they might try Australia again

#

True, but I doubt they actually have a clause in there against them re-entering as back then it still was a GM brand, and then they'd put in a clause against themselves

#

But ofc it's all speculation for basically everyone except GM/Opel attorneys

#

Hmm would make sense

#

Idk if they were in the NZ market before getting sold

wispy cloak
#

If I had to take a guess they won't be trying to send opels there again anytime soon

#

Oh

#

I thought they did

So does that mean gm has basically completely pulled out of Europe?

Yes, but also no 😛

NL has a website, it's on there, but no pricing, and as far as I can see 0 dealerships?

Germany has prices and 6 (!) dealerships

Google Maps wanted you to take the red line before.

Whatever the case. The road was blocked and shit there.

brittle totem
# civic spoke Google Maps wanted you to take the red line before.

I think it was this one not sure why BMW navigation thought that was good idea instead of not just continue on the same road that I was on. but a similar thing has happened before while following the inbuild nav at a different place it thought that the forest road was a better idea then highway that time.

#

Yeah I guess its based on KM and not actually time then.

Google Maps tend to go more for fastest route for me.

#

The correct way is to drive to the Halkbana and then continue from there.

So you drive south parallel to the freeway much further before crossing.
