Wasn't there a truck (or car?) that have all the assembly instructions printed on the frame?

Isn't that what the repair manuals are for?

#

That's a good amount of effort for the car manufacturers to go through.

long shore
# tepid wing Isn't that what the repair manuals are for?

It is, not only for repair but also for customization. You can add/remove add-on modules (flat bed, cargo box, tow hook, etc) real easy
And it allows faster assembly, since there is no guesswork or any need for memory recall, which I think is a large part of the incensive
I forgot who built it or whether it's still there, but that is fantastic and we should see it more often

tepid wing
#

I mean, on the line there's no guess work if the line is any good.

#

I've been to a Ford assembly line, they are incredibly efficient.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing for them to do, I'm just trying to say it's probably an expensive thing for them to do.

stoic ledge

Sure, but even if it doesn't kick on that often I'd want better efficiency than 10L/100km

civic spoke
stoic ledge

Yeah but sometimes you have to, and then it doesn't make sense to have a rotary consuming 10L/100km when you could've had a regular 3 or 4 cyl with 5L/100km

Ahh, you see the story is quite different over here as our engine choices and specs are quite different. Until recently, diesels were the most popular and turned a lot of the stats on its head

#

So the modern BMW fires the police have experienced are on the diesels, I believe because of the EGR coolers

#

Interestingly it was the diesels that had all the chain issues from 2006-2015. Mine was recalled for a heater fire issue too

They apparently also have a low oil pressure at idle issue

which affects the police vehicles more
