Part of me wants to upgrade the brakes on my E46 as well.
I was gonna put 1995 mirage brakes on mine but they're unubtainium
I think evo 3 e brake cable would fit too
rn I'm working on putting a uhaul truck gauge on mine
waiting on A pillar bezel to show up
I'm still on that N/A life.
i would love to fit some nicer bits onto my car, mostly electronics inside
About the same power as you, though.
I met the diesel cannonball record holder awhile back
his car makes the same hp as mine
and it had to be tuned to do it
The story of the E63 wreck - https://youtu.be/N2EeJsF75gs
The new record set hours later - https://youtu.be/hU9tbwBzQKc
The current overall record - https://youtu.be/GOWn1WSYhVQ
Sean, Jason, and Mark tell their story of setting the diesel Cannonball record. Who knew a 170 hp car could do that?! Follow them on Instagram - Sean Petr (@roadtripwes...
Betta getta jetta
Ive been in one of those before while being threatened. Theyre really nice. Great stereos
The Jetta seems nice enough. Would have been nice with a Jetta GLI
Had around 230 hp, which is pretty decent.
I dunno its a good car but i dont really trust volkswagen
I really like the toyota 4runners though
The new ones that is
the 4runners are all just incredibly good
They really are
But the new ones just look really good to me
Especially with the paint options
The tundras are good looking too
This is a reminder that the whole Eleanor lawsuit is finally over and settled.
The people who built those cars, etc. Are not free to do whatever they want.
But really - It means a whole lot more lawsuits to get their vehicles back.
Didn't they stop manufactures does in like 2019 or 2020 ?
Last batch of registered Amarok was in December 2021 I guess they are sold out in Europe and they are preparing for new generation.
Just when i started liking the look of these damn things.
Way too expensive though. Base models start at 72
And thats for a preorder
Theyre about 100k units behind
nissian 180sx go vrrooomm

I Obey
Three rows in a pickup!
This thing is dope
I like this more than the Silverado EV. It gets the mid-gate but it looks like it's going to be much more flexible (if it keeps the feature, you'll be able to do pass through all the way through the bed, through the cab and into the frunk. You could carry like 18ft long planks with the tail gate up lmao)
I wish theyād make electric pickup trucks more like actual work vehicles
The huge front end and reduced visibility from is screws both efficiency and safety
that third row is ASS though. about as bad as the QX60's joke of a third row lol
I don't think M cars belong on the beach
but like, in a funny way lol
Like seeing a macbook set up at a LAN party lolol
Idk what is is with modern Ferrari's... But I don't think they're as stylish as they used to be
After they dropped pininfarina their styling dropped
They also donāt advertise at all
But I guess thatās also the point of the company
It seems like their goal is āyou have to be rich to even know who we areā
tbh I think the corvette outdid Ferrari at their own game .
I mean just, look at it
the fact you "can get one for $60,000" (never been true but whatever) really de-legitimizes a lot of the "halo" surrounding supercars. Like, if GM, the world's most boring car company that also makes this and also this can do that? Idk, why can't ferrari, and mclaren, and everyone else charging $600,000 not do better?
like, that GM lol
that is a fucking 2023 MODEL
THAT VAN
THAT COMPANY
BUILDS THIS
I mean they're just jump seats, it's not like a full time third row. The QX60's is worse because it's supposed to be, like, a functional third row
This is more like the third row you get in the back of a Mercedes E-class station wagon
wait really? lmao
If it aināt broke donāt fix it
yeah the chevy express van's last update was to swap away sealed beam headlights lmfao
Thereās 20 years worth of parts for that ā23 van
Itās a work vehicle
one of these is from 2023, the other is from 2003
Frankly I wish trucks looked more like the vans
Frankly, a van would be better than a truck for most applications
Got that big ass front end and awful visibility for what, clout?
why?
Because trucks are work vehicles and the reduced visibility they have is trash
Tiny ass windshields and massive front ends, you canāt see anything
I'm from the UK, you'll see no complaints from me on crapping on the pedestrian squashing nature of american trucks
but like, what's the point in a basic work vehicle that isn't even cheap?
Ah yea Iām from texas
I have no idea, but frankly Iām seeing more and more ford maverick work trucks
See at least those make sense
they are cheap. The inside is basic, but well styled
and the front end is like normal
And if you have like a pool maintenance or lawn mowing business where you need a bed but you aren't towing or hauling much actual weight, you've got a vehicle you can use as a home and work vehicle that you can buy for less than $25,000
6.2L V8
pushrod too
Dawg
Vans have V8s in them
The F150 in the 00s had a V8 in it
I mean, you can see where too
(the middle of the cab)
The only reason trucks are as big as they are is because peopleās egos keep getting bigger
trucks are about as big as cars were in the 70s now
Thatās not a good rebuttal
But I mean, they're trucks
they have beds and can do things
if people actually bought them to do those things, I wouldn't really see the problem. It's not like they're too big for our roads, they... fit cars on them 50 years ago lol
So can trucks from the 90s
to be fair, you weren't pulling a big ole boat with a truck from the 90s unless it was a triton
If people actually used trucks for what theyāre supposed to be used for, theyād want the better visibility
Mall crawler mfers
I was going to say, be careful there
dis my mall crawler, so big n tuff n strong grr
Valid
I'm getting her replaced real soon tho
Heh they already look small in Europe, next to a truck like that it's even worse
The 500 in the back looks massive compared to the MX-5
I think itās a 500L actually! That might be why
Nope that's a regular 500
Fuck š

Saw one drive by yesterday in that color, made me a bit sad I didn't get it that color.
All the red ones I found were generally more expensive and specced worse
Yee itās a BARE sport
Yeah mine is like a GT-M or something
So the new model s comes with a normal sterring wheel now and you can chose the yoke if you want to. For no additional cost. Why didn't they have this option for the beginning ?
I thought they did?
Wasn't from the beginning no
Wasn't it just that the yoke was standard and you could side grade to a wheel?
Because elonās a fucking idiot
Nope you could only get the normal sterring wheel from 3rd party sellers until now. And it was like 2000$ to.
Consumer cars vs manufacturer claims. https://youtu.be/NJxVwnMFmq0
Matās brought four of his favourite performance cars down to the dyno, and heās about to see just how accurate their performance figures are compared to what the manufacturers claim theyāll be!
Weāve got an Audi RS6, AMG E63 S, BMW M5 Competition and a Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, and combined, they all pack a serious punch!
On paper, ...
tailwind on the way to work was mega going speedy quick easily
headwind on the way home could barely speed
50hp unaerodynamic machine is the best
Kind of neat results of that video.
Saw this Ford GT in a car show
<@&750150305383186585>
Ohh thatās nice still not getting one
I live in Florida near the ocean and ocean and batteries donāt mix
Sure they do. They're required for eels
You will have more of an problem with an gas car with water anyways.
I never had any
If you gas car gets flooded with salt water it will be done for same thing with an ev engine and electric components don't mix well with salt water.
Most things don't mix well with salt water
Still havenāt had much of in issue
Iāve seen a Tesla on fire on the side of the road
If thoes catch fire it takes way to much water to put out
Because whatāre and lithium batteries isnāt a good option
Correct but the chances of EVs catching fire are way lower then a traditional ice car.
Ice???
ICE = internal combustion engine
Oh
Yes that is correct
But it takes less water to put out
And the fire isnāt as hot
Itās like 2 times hotter of a fire
but when they do they take 10x more water to put out, it's significantly more aggressive of a fire, and even after its put out it can reignite
Exactly
Iām not changing to ev until they do some other way to power the cars
Nuclear power Tesla
Yea i know but chances of EV catching fire are are extremally low.
no they arent
Not realy
if water gets inside it will short and catch on fire
if it gets in a bad collision it will short and catch on fire
They would have to make it water tight and for a car I donāt thinks thatās gona be easy
even when they are parked they catch on fire
It would be worst if it was raining at the time
EVs are less likely to catch fire, statistically speaking
Yeah if you unlucky enough i have seen tesla batteries with salt water damage and they haven't caught fire.
I wana see how miserable a trip would be in one
Turns out the alternative involves gallons of flammable liquid
Liquid with a lower boiling point
Yea but it would have to be sparked to be on fire not just somthing as simple as water
Nah something even more simple
Hot exhaust
Turns out lubrication oil also catches fire
Thatās not gona start a fire itās not close to gass tank most of the time
Battery packs tend to be well sealed and damn well protected
Iād still go for gas car because sounds better
Wouldn't know I drive a 4 cylinder economy car
Be a shame if the Tesla frame bent during a crash
Even then
Yea get a nice car with a 351
Nah I enjoy good fuel economy
I love the sound of engines not some electric motor
I enjoy driving
Yea can you supercharge a Tesla
Sure
They arnt as good for like project cars
That's honestly fine. I prefer a good clean turnkey solution
I haven't the time, money, or energy for a project.
I want to go for a drive to relax
Depends but it can run from a few grand to 20k
Incidentally an engine runs about the same
You can buy a new engine and gas tank for that
Yes, pricing is about on par
Yea but you for battery packs and new motors prob cost a whol car
Assuming you need to replace both
20k is a lot more than the price of an engine and gas tank.
Depends on the battery and depends on the engine
Exactly
Yes it is
EVs are neat little city cars.
Cause a car that costs 150k is going to have a very expensive engine
20k is like buying. Lamborghini engine and gas tank
That sounds cheap
Also no lol
There 120k usd for a Tesla plaid
Tesla isn't the only electric car and if you're looking at EVs as a commuter car, you probably shouldn't be looking at Tesla.
I still would take a old car over Tesla
So would I tbh
Iām not after my driving to be tracked like my search history
Because I drive long distances in super cold weather.
I drive every summer from Florida to cali
Fast charge stations are pretty quick nowadays. America is always warm, so the temperature shouldn't affect battery life.
It wouldn't be that bad to do it in an EV.
Always they say
During summer it get hot
I live where water freezes out of your vodka in the winter.
it takes like 5 mins to fill up a gas tank and like 1 hr to charge your battery's fully
if you are on a road trip that would add a lot of time waiting
Ignoring half the country gets cold, sure
I'm at work rn, so checking is inconvenient, but fast charge stations fill the battery in 15-30 minutes I thought.
Yes
Doesnt lithium batteries worst bad above 75 degrees
The northern states do, yes. But Florida to California is probably a warm route.
15-30 minutes to get a good level of charge
Compared to a 2 min gas stop
facts
Unless you're in a cannonball run... This
I'm interested to see the future of carbon neutral combustibles like ethanol that isn't from corn and synthetic fuels. It would be a lot cheaper to retrofit a car with a synthetic fuel compatible system than buy an EV.
Yea Texas is like 100 over summer
Batteries preheat for fast charging, heat isn't an issue really
I find it better to count EV range in driven hours instead of range. If you have 300 miles. How many hours of time is that? Generally 6 hours at highway speeds.
I think they donāt work as good in high temps
Cold is a pretty big issue in northern regions.
They generally still are good for 150km, but it's not enough for most people where I live.
I'm curious how battery packs will deal with salt over years.
And no fast charge stations nearby lmao
Depends on the material used to house them.
Steel would corrode in a year. Aluminium is better, but weaker.
Battery packs are sealed. They deal with it better than the rest of the car
Prob thin sheet of metal and plastic
Iād rather have a car with nice shape than a jelly bean
Tesla's older designs were better than the new ones.
The P series of cars, they were called iirc
Yes from 2012
The only model for Tesla that I like is really the Model S.
Cold can also be problematic for an ICE car? Yet they've also come with solutions for it to make it works, so they will for EV's. Just give it time
The roadster is just a lotus, so I don't give them credit for that.
Battery efficiency as a function of temperature is pretty much not solvable.
"I don't want a diesel, it doesn't start in cold weather, my horse always works, so superior" ~ 1900 northern farmer
I would need huge batteries or a different type of battery than lithium.
Meh it uses more buy hey, so do ICE engines lol
And the government isn't about to allow people to drive around with cadmium batteries.
Not in Florida
What?
We use kerosene in the winter instead of diesel.
I'm 100% fine with EV's where I live. As long as I have an estimated range of 100 km's of real world range. As long as I would be able to plug in on the daily.
I am too. They're great for short distances.
Put a kerosene heater next to your car to preheat it for better fast charging
But they're not suitable for everyone in more remote areas.
Agreed.
Nobody says they are?
If you're not able to plug it in at home majority of the time. Then EV is probably not for you.
And they're also not suitable for long distances yet.
Or I missed it
Electricity also costs a fortune where I live.
Less than gasoline by a long shot.
But it's bad.
Imagine not paying 1ā¬/kWh
Same here. But it would still be cheaper per mile where I live either way.

I think I pay $0.14/kWh in USD.
Something along those lines.
Which is triple what some people pay just 600km away.
I'm curious how it will look like with EV trucks in 5 years.
Even got a 220 outlet in my garage
PHEV is honestly a good compromise for many people.
If you have just 30-50 km's. That can really help to decrease your fuel bills, and to increase your fuel economy.
And if it's a PHEV truck with a diesel engine, then it can tow small loads super efficiently while also having a huge range and not consume obscene amounts of fuel if I have to use it to commute, which is everything I want in a truck.
Sadly, none are available here.
A lot of it is also how the manufacturer tunes the electric motor.
I'm pretty sure I can't get a diesel without it being a full size truck here.
Many times if it just helped you up to 30-50 kmh, then that is enough.
Replace first gear with an electric motor. Basically.
So from nothing to.. practically nothing, haha
Kekw ours went 25c/kWh -> 100c/kWh
But it's more money š¢
This
Jesus
I'm paying 0.13/KWh today
At that point I'd live in a cave and bang rocks together for entertainment
I have solar so gg np
On average
I think we might get solar
peak today is 0.18 low is 0.07
Best thing would be Dynamic prices currently yes
Yup
And solar FTW
Our fixed rate before we swicthed was about 0.9/KWh
I might want to add wind as soon as it's possible
There are still government rebates for solar
...how?
*Government drone exterminator
You going to buy a windmill? haha
My grandpa is getting his field converted to solar because the company pays so well
Prices tomorrow
They are estimating installation to begin in q3 or so of 2024
Oh wait, ignore, this is before tax
Got a little too excited there
I think that for the whole field he'll be getting $55000-$60000 a year
Something like this
And his other field might be getting wind
Should be hitting market this year
That's cool
The "left leaning" party sold our electricity company to an anonymous bidder and now it's privatized. It's impossible to get customer service and the prices are always as high as the government allows. Shit sucks man.
No high peaks like solar but a more consistent low generation of power
How much power does something like that actually generate
They expect ~5000kWh annually which would be nice
Current project. Restoring 1973 Chevy Malibu with my Dad.
Lift kit done
Are those loaners bikes for customers hanging from the ceiling
This types exist too
- Park car on lift
- Lift kit installed
No customers
Yeah but they have moving parts thus generate sound
That's 2.5k and does 1000KWh per anum
These have 0 moving parts
How does that workš¤
How?
You got to move something to generate electricity.
Surely something needs to move to convert that energy
A diesel generator hidden inside.
or does it like resist movement
Yeah or maybe the generator idk but not massive wings
Idk the info about it is... Not much
Sounds like a scam so far.
Probably as they don't want others stealing their design
I'm really intrigued now that you've said no moving parts
Nope it's currently being tested
Do you have a link to their product page?
Ok no 1 turing thing
Yeah sec
There's a video somewhere of the test, let me see
Thanks. I'll read more about it when I get home.
š
Does it direct air into an enclosed impeller? That's the only way I can think of rn
I think that it uses the venturi effect to suck in air from below to power the generator.
Found this.
big swaybar or adjustable camber and toe arms
Rooftop wind power has been a goal for micro power generators around the world for many years now. Thereās no shortage of design ideas, but now thereās a new kid on the block that has no visible moving parts, makes no noise, and generates 50% more power than standard solar PV panels. So how do they do that?
Aeromine Website
https://www.aeromin...
Yeah, I was right. It uses the venturi effect.
Yeah Venturi basically
Doesn't seem like it's too bad of a design.
Yeah it's not too bad
I think it can have a future
And it's fairly inexpensive to build as it consists of fairly simple Components
The shape is mostly determining the efficiency
A bit more complex compared to just a fan as a wind generator. But the fan used should be easy to produce and cheap.
This is weird to me, shouldn't the "grand touring" model have more range?
No
Time to check what xDrive are capable of doing in the snow.
Same battery size and everything. So range remains the same.
You'd think it would have a larger battery.
But it doesn't.
Grand touring isn't a great name then.
Depends. Does it have more features that are suitable for grand touring?
It doesn't have a higher range so no.
It's just more sport oriented
should get unslammed
Is that running at like 200rpm?
No exhaust sound is the best exhaust sound.
they often seem to have just a funny sound
I guess it's nice that the base car has the most range you can get.
I wonder if its heat pump is bidirectional.
EV6? There's also a smaller battery
No?
That's really weird.
They are the same company right?
Both part of Hyundai Motor Group yeah
We might only have the one battery size for the Kia EV6 here in Sweden?
Electronically Controlled Suspension
Variable Gear Ratio Steering
These peak my intrigue.
š³š± Gets both batteries
Suspension that can change its dampers.
Steering that turns more/less depending on speed.
I also love that we are already at "ultra fast dc charging", I feel like charge rates are going to be the next HD video thing.
When are we getting 4k charging speeds?
I do think I'll end up with the Bolt though, the 18K difference is huge.
I mean, Tesla have already came up with "Mega" DC charging.
For their silly trucks.
Tera DC when
1,000 Volt charging for Semi and possibly the Cybertruck
Cybertruck
That's a meme.
Yeah, I know.
I'd be surprised if it comes out before Tesla dies.
wonder why their wheel ejected
Wheel subscription ended probably
tried to see if the knuckle was still there but wasnt able to
The "you have to pay us every month to turn your wheels" thing was disturbing.
Im sure someone would hear loose wheel bolts
People ignore a lot of weird car sounds and smells.
I see a lot of cars in a work day, some of them have really awful smelling exhaust that screams "service your engine before it dies."
Heh like my parents, "yeah the car was making a weird noise and the heat didn't really work"
No shit when all the cooling fluids are on the suspension
I bet the temp gauge was leaning right too. :V
I bet the Bolt uses a resistive heater.
I think it does
Fit a diesel heater : )
I mean they call a factory GIGAFACTORY
š¤¢
Literally a child naming stuff
Wheel bearing on the 305 is absolutely howling but its got life in it
Naming their cars S3XY.
On the Bolt? Don't think so
Yeah it sucks.
grease got washed out driving in deep water, cheap shit £10 bearing
Oh well, I guess people don't know that's something they want yet.
At least I'm in one of the hotter places where the resistive heater wouldn't need to run much.
speed limited by nature
if the world was flat 50hp would be perfectly fine
mega headwind aswell
Video no workie for me
They are just going faster than everyone else.
lose speed on the slight incline
at some points the wind was so strong could barely reach 70
Fixed after restart Discord
Was trying to take the injection pump off a crashed 306 today but impact on the wheel had broken the gearbox mount and subsequently engine mounts
not enough room, didnt really need it anyway went for the complete engine and gearbox but gearbox casing was cracked and head had been yoinked : (
š¢
was low miles aswell
God I hate this thing but love it at the same time
Love/Hate relationship?
Yes
1st gen Insight
should have a predator engine
Real aero wheels.
I want a mk1 insight but also dont like spending more than 1.5k on a car
1.5k is probably more then the combined value of your cars no?
Here I am planning on spending a lot more than that.
markets mental at the moment so stuff is worth way more than it should be
suppose if I could find one with a hooped battery I could go for it
It's not like I'm planning on throwing the car away in a hurry.
I'm going to want to keep it as long as I can.
Get a saturn
combined value of my cars is like
"mazda 2" 2.4k, Peugeot 305 1.8k, BX £1k current state, Xantia £600, Saab 900 £900.
My mum has commandeered the mazda 2 and I hope never to see it again, would sell for decent in the clown market though
Saturn doesn't exist anymore though?
yeah they vapourised all of their cars left on the road when they went defunct.

Quite concerning my brain is like im sure you own another car
I'm a normies with just 1 car
ur not gonna buy a brand new car for 1.5k
I didn't say it was going to
can only buy new cars
2023 prius
I had another look at the parts 305 estate and its worse than I remember
If there was no pesky inspection for corrosion it wouldnt be too much of a hassle to put back on the road
Technically speaking rear arches on a 305 estate arent structural due to the horizontal spring system
No issue with putting the power down on an unplowed snowy road. And I like how it let you slide a bit even with traction control fully on but it still very controllable.
lol google car drove past when my heater hose burst, can see dash pulled forward

Confusing people about automotive parts is a super old method that car manufacturers use to make more money.
If someone could name my ol grandpa car Iād be surprised
my cavalier has 2 door speakers and 2 deck speakers. the front speakers play great but the rears make 0 noise
y'all got any idea
Probably just the wiring, GM wiring was shit in the 90ās, assuming thatās the generation youāre talking
that a corsica?
nvm
Sometimes while accelerating from a slow speed my car will change gears and kind of jerk me back
Other times itās perfectly smooth
should I try changing the tranny fluid or something?
Haha, I can tell ya unless you wanna another go š
I would yeah, any lights?
Nope
Cause I was also thinking it could be the ecu but you wouldāve had a light
i have found what it is and this is new to me, interesting vehicle
Yeah man Luminas are a weird and interesting car haha

Yessir, a shitty 3.1L making 140hp lmao
Aveno or sum shit right lmao
We have those too
alero yees
aveno sounds like a soap
Iām looking at some forum posts and some people are saying it has to do with either engine mounts or transmission mounts https://www.reddit.com/r/mazda6/comments/y7nntr/slight_bucking_on_2015_mazda_6_sport/
Is it just me or do these >4 year car loans feel wrong?
Oh yeah it definitely could be the tranny mounts, does it still shift normally like it used too? Same rpm etc and just clunks?
Idk I aināt ever buying a new car, if I canāt buy it with cash I canāt afford it imo
Eh, that's fair.
It shifts smooth at higher speeds but just going from like 1-2 or 3-2 around there jerks a bit if Iām being light on the throttle
What I want just isn't that affordable for me.
donāt autos have torque converters?
Same here man, but good thing I like many cars
I want an EV that OP works with.
Yeah sorry Iām baked man, just seems like it doesnāt wanna engage into gear to me
itās all good lol
There's enough I don't know about this that I can't really guess.
Rn I want a eg or an ek sedan for winter and a z31 300zx for summer
it might just have something to do with the computer and how quick it shifts depending on the throttle input or something? idk
Thatās what I was thinking when I said ecu, 2015 might have different modules for each part tho yk
Iām not too informed on the electrical side of cars, still a noob there
Hoping to have this lineup by at least 2025 š
I do want to get a second car to modify and such, but that's a long ways off.
I need a daily driver first.
Yeah Iām thinking of selling my lumina in the spring and getting an ek or older civic as a daily then a 300zx down the line
I'm currently saving for a Bolt.
I'm thinking about half way through the year I'll have enough money saved up to justify test drives.
Yeah thatās good man
Iād like a fit or another subcompact but Iām not paying 8k for one when I can get a civic for cheap
Imagine being rich so I could just grab an EV6 to use for a decade.
Just imagine being rich so you could buy every cheap car youāve ever wanted, then slapping way too much money into them
I'd have one or two.
I want to get an old convertible.
https://samcurry.net/web-hackers-vs-the-auto-industry/
If I disabled the modem in a new car what would happen?
During the fall of 2022, a few friends and I took a road trip from Chicago, IL to Washington, DC to attend a cybersecurity conference and (try) to take a break from our usual computer work. While we were visiting the University of Maryland, we came across a fleet of electric scooters scattered across the
How long has it been since the transmission has been serviced
Also is your trans up to temp when doing this?
How delayed are the shifts?
Also is this a lumina
I wonder if I could control the car seats with the OBDII port.
It's possible that a dealer computer could do that
Many of the newer ones can control a bunch of functions
There's no valid reason why I couldn't in that case.
I guess the best way to find out is to get a OBDII cable and play with the seats.
Depending on the manufacturer you may need another computer to interact with the vehicle itself
For example ford requires their vcm for ids or the newer software I forgot the name of
But why not just control the seats with the controls in the car?
I want to hack together seat memory.
That may be near impossible
Obd2 is a standardized port and so are the basics but more complicated functions are proprietary
But in theory you could just move to the closest end stop and time the movement back...
You'll probably have to go through at least one or two modules to talk to the seats
You, are a legend
Gave her a good clean š§¼

From my limited experience on my 4l80, autos have some kind of pressure control solenoid to manage the hydraulic line pressure in the transmission that is used to apply the clutch packs inside
I don't remember if the shift solenoids play into the shifting firmness but the pressure solenoid does iirc
Yeah no shit Sherlock xD
I could have told them that
Saved them a study
Parents cant even use a touchscreen when using 100% of their brain
Who would have ever thought that this was the case?
The reason why manufacturers are using screen is really just because of two reasons that I can think of.
It's cheaper, and it looks "fancy".
generally dont like stuff like that as its one stupid module to fail and the car is fooked
although that is the case with buttons and body control shite

The problems with does kind of articles is that they are just trying a car for short period of time. I can agree that buttons are way faster if you are not used with the infotamient system in that car but after you have hade car for like 1-2 weeks there is probley no big diffrence when you are used to using the screen compared to car with buttons.
Ive had a touchscreen phone for years if I dont have my focus on it not a chance
although the amount of people that seem to pull off texting and driving
Iām not sure if it ever has been before
Itās only got 47.2k miles
And most of the time itās as Iām pulling out of my neighborhood for the first time of the day or pulling out of a parking lot
things with slow speeds
Turning on turn signals with stalk is way more convenient than pressing a touch capacitive button on the steeringwheel. So are wiper controls on the steeringwheel vs in a submenu. And frankly, many other features
I can agree with that touch button should not be on a steering wheel after driving a new tiguan with it. And yes removing stalks are stupid idea in first place because their is no reason why it would be better to have that in touch screen. But I'm fine with the rest its just a thing you need to get used to do and the perk with having having most of the controls in touch screen is that you can customize them yo your likings and the manufactures can add more features with OTA updates.
Noice can we have buttons back and throw out these ipads
There is a difference
Add in rough roads and you'll be lucky to find anything on a touch screen.
A lot of function won't ever change... Light switches, HVAC controls, a physical home button, volume control, menu/tracks, main shortcut buttons... I can imagine a lot of functions which would benefit from physical controls. I'm not saying to ban (touch)screens, like using a map, entering a sat nav destination etc
Only when it's cold?
Because that's relatively normal
If it isn't up to temp
maybe
"cold" here is like 70 degrees
how hot does it get while at operating temp?
About the same as the engine temp
i own a tesla
Ok
considering your youtube page has you playing roblox you're anywhere from 8-16, you don't own a tesla.
scratch that, you listen to "sad music for sad people" and "best roblox music" on spotify. you're 15
you're 15
Isn't that a bit old to be playing Roblox?
their dad owns a tesla*
I own a porsche, and also, you can buy a car that has a broken dash, you'll have to fab your own dash or buy a new dash for it. And assemble it, itll be painful. But creating a nice dash could be fun
No sun here so generally not a issue
Spotted this beast woooo
The most offroading that car has ever seen right there
who knows but itās my dream spec 930

My car is a 2007 š and the door trim peels off all the time lol
2007 dodge dakota mint dash
my challenger also has its dash in mint shape
but it's a 2010
yeah just watched that lol
I watched it yesterday so yea you canāt get the mf for only $19.95
A couple of Ferrariās
I have a 07 mustang GT. Dash and everything is mint, but they're known for the door trims peeling off lol.
But they're replaceable.
Not my car, but this is what they do.
Gonna be doing a drive down from nh to Florida soon
someone doesent like chrome
True true
suprised the cut face of the alloys isnt too bright for you
Well actually I didnāt mind the chrome emblem front and back I think it looked pretty good tbh
I actually love the wheels popping, idk if you know savage garage rip Randy but he had a rolls Royce all black with the chrome hreās and man that is
my car wants to dechrome itself
chrome badges
Give er what she needs!
had a few bumps in its time but solid metal bumpers, chrome trim at front gone rear hanging on

great cars for shunting stuff with
Interesting use case for it
Are 5.7 350's good motors? I've heard that they can have bad bearings, ad that they like to blow up
ok cool
Probably because it isn't a 2nd Gen Ram
thats amazing
some lady came through my drive thru with her high beams on
I told her āoh by the way I think youāre driving with the high beams onā
this clown says āI know I canāt see well at night and prescriptions are too expensiveā
like tf??
bro youāre blinding everybody else because you canāt see already
I love the idea of unplugging a friend's dryer/stove to charge your car.
When is it reasonable to start test driving cars?
Never, buy as seen : )
Yeah but I just want an excuse to drive a couple nice new cars I can't quite reasonably afford.
What exactly is the question
Finally got to see a M1 Procar in person
ehmmmm.... that's not good š
Basically yelled at by the police
"Don't do that."
i did my first solo radio, and amp install
i did my speakers in my challenger and truck but the radio was done by best buy in both
I find it weird
I did full tank in Italy and it lasted me for like 500 kms
But now I did in Switzerland and I did 450 kms and I still had 20 litres left
do you floor it everywhere you go
in my truck i get 10 mpg if i drive stupid and 15 if i drive like a normal person
I only floor it when I'm going on a ramp to highway
Also apparently I was going even faster than usual, and my gearbox is busted too
Do you not have a speedo? haha
Probely the worst road i have ever driven on.
Haven't seen any road
Its amazing how loose you are in a car without your seatbelt on
Messing about with the saab on private land about fell out me seat
The Low Emission Zone Support Fund, funded by Transport Scotland and administered by Energy Saving Trust, offers an incentive for low-income households to take older, more polluting vehicles off the road.
Grants of up to £3,000 are available to incentivise the disposal of non-compliant vehicles.
The scrappening begins
This the only road to a new neighborhood with brand new and quite big houses. And they didn't even bother with decent road to it. Cant be good for the car suspension to drive on that road like 10 times a week.
Get better cars : )
I thought the road outside my street wasnt that bad then someone drove me home in a mordern car with low profile tyres heh
Yep the suspension in moms BMW is quite stiff to that probably doesn't make it better. So it probably felt worse then it actually is.
anyone here use ammonyc products?
Recently I just went to move my car, didn't put on my seatbelt for obvious reasons and it just felt so weird.
Never have, very expensive
I basically already put it on when I move my car from the driveway to park it on the street

Yeah usually it's just an automatic thing, but I actually thought "why put it on"
Must. Wear. Seatbelt.
Usually have it on was just putting the saab on the ramp but brakes were very sticky so took it for a quick run and when I put full lock on at the end of the road at speed to turn around I was like whoa
about launching myself to the other side of the car
These are the 2 wheel cleaners I have atm
sTiPt rEaL eFfEcTiVe
Itās certainly more effective than the other wheel cleaners Iāve used
Haha
Yeah, but you can get it everywhere š
Imagine going to physical stores

I just order from Carclean
Although our local Karwei actually has Stipt stuff?
Stipt is everywhere now
This is always fun
Snow foam is just fun for the sake of it
Not sure if it even does anything
My brother prefers the Monello foam... I just go along as I just steal his Snow Foam

I wanna get a better foam lance
Iām smelling some brand loyalty here
I think he only uses their snow foam and wheel cleaner? He also has some Gyeon and Meguairs stuff, and maybe some I don't know off
Random thought, why are most drying towels so stupidly expensive
BUT WATER SPOTS!
I go after it with clean water and a "zeem"
Idk what the English word is, too lazy to look it up
But you'll know it
Yeah
Whatās nice about self service wash booths is that they usually have demineralized water
So you donāt really get water spots
Wash booths
Does Limburg not have them? Haha
We do
I don't use them
I just wash the car on the driveway or in front of the house

Their snow foam is always really bad
Ofcourse it is
ah yes. its illegal here in germany š i go to wash booth too and use my own sponge n shit
Big sadge :(
Ewh, donāt use a sponge
That scratches the paint
I need a drop hitch
i have a shit box. not a 500 grand Ferrari
Is that a Daewoo Kalos, I mean Suzuki Swift+, I mean Pontiac G3 Wave, I mean Holden Barina, I mean ZAZ Vida, I mean Chevrolet Aveo
i assume thats being towed to the track
can't risk damaging that beast on the street
Itty bitty little car so it's fine
It was only like 5 hours of driving total
Like three there and two back
Give or take
i think ya missed a few š
Or just don't lift your truck for no reason
it's not even lifted that much
this one is stock according to the listing and seems to be about the same
thats definitely not stock
that's a 4x4 which is usually way closer to level
that has airbags or heavier springs or something
I'm sorry what
People here keep giving me reasons that make me glad I'm in the us
I didn't lift it
Also I do some nonsense in the fields
Gotta be able to recover geos somehow
Also it's not that much taller than stock
As far as I'm aware
Nothing in Sweden is as bad than W604 between GrƤngesberg and Sunnansjƶ.
Although the municipality owned road have been fixed between Gg and BjƶrkƄs, but why not the whole stretch?
Should I drive a manual gearbox car?
Why shouldn't you?
Learning?
If so go for it.
Going from an automatic to a manual was a bit of a pain.
Costs more in the long run technically
And in modern times are less efficient
If it's just for learning it's a skill to acquire.
That aveo I picked up today was a manual
A weird one too
It was touchy and reverse was to the left and up
Didn't like that thing
Get slightly cheaper insurance with a manual license here and who knows if you ever want to learn to drive a truck youll get automatically given manual access even if you pass in a auto.
Manual license?
Alread took me long enough to type that list
The "standard" license is with a manual, if you pass your driving exam in an automatic you get a note on your driving license only allowing you to drive automatics
Pass exam in manual = can drive everything
Pass exam in automatic (or EV) = can drive automatisch only (including EV's)
Left + up = ā¤ļø
Left up club here too.
Smack it to the left, and then up
I have to pull up a little button
I think with VW you have to push the shifter down
And yeah BMW is just wack it hard to the left
Hmm the facelifted Aveo, the T250 apparently got the GM Family 1 Gen III engine... A16XER then, probably has the same F17 gearbox than many 5spd Opel's
Older models had a Daewoo powertrain with probably a different gearbox
With a Euro 3 complaint engine basically
E-Tech II, originally designed by GM, then licensed to Daewoo who made "improvements"
No, wait. I'm tired.
Hi tired
Yeah lol
This is the Porsche 7spd manual xP
Mine:
R 1 3 5
2 4```
6spd:
R 1 3 5
2 4 6```
7spd:
R 1 3 5 7
2 4 6```
But reverse can be basically everywhere, I've also seen left + down, "usual" is right + down... Don't think I've ever seen right + up tho
For daily driving I don't know
driving a manual sounds scary
i wouldn't trust myself not to accidentally put it into 2nd gear while going down the highway
Which car have 7 speed manual?
I have only seen 4,5 and 6 manual
9 automatic on MB Vito
I barely ever change gears on the highway? Maybe only when I hit a traffic jam
Usually you just accelerate -> put it in top gear -> cruise the entire trip in 1 gear
Yeah, unless there is heavy traffic I'm never really in any gear other than 6
The only gear you really ever accidentally put the car in are the 2 "middle" gears
Also Aston
Oh, right. Doesn't the C7 corvette also have a seven speed?
1st I usually never touch once I've moved off
That's the three versions of the 7 speed. I want to say.
This is mine
That's a special case. Since it's still an H6 pattern for it.
everywhere in California is a traffic jam š
It doesnt have to represent 6 gears though
I'd love to try a gated shifter
1-6, Reverse and Drive on the Koenigsegg CC850
It has the fuckin gear ratios printed on it holy shit
does D put it into an automatic mode?
Yupp
What else would it put it into
Well that's convenient
Idk, I didn't expect a car with a manual shifter to have an auto mode? lol
The transmission is computer controlled
The CC850 is a special case.
Since it's the only manual car with the option for automatic.
You could have paddle shifers too
š„
You can put automatics in manual mode
Not the same. Doesn't have three pedals.
Doesnt need 3 pedals
Want to hear something special?
No
An automatic with three pedals.
What did i just say
Driven one of those, actually
Yako how many pedals do cars usually have
Obviously not counting cars that have a pedal for the parking brake.
Oh yeah, that doesn't count š
If you don't have a pedal that manipulates the clutch, then it's not a manual.
Else you can call the SMG a true manual.
Yeah "manual" up/downshifting on an auto does not make it a manual
I can't stop looking at this
Download -> set as wallpaper
I've driven farm equipment like that
Scania in this case.
Okay farm equipment also doesn't count

Clutch down, throw it in drive, let up on the clutch.
After that, then it's an automatic.
Clutch pedal was only for coming to a stop, and setting off.
Yeah. It was four pedals on the back. Two being clutch, and then up and down.
The Bronco has 7 forward gears, but one of them is a crawler gear
Usually the up/down is actually one pedal
Just hinged in the middle
So you can up and downshift on both sides
What if you had a car that had paddle shifters
but no automatic mode
so you have to shift using the paddles
no clutch pedal
would that be manual or automatic?
Sounds like a semi automatic
Sounds like a sequential manual. Where you still would have to clutch to set off.
But once you're going, then you just use the paddles.
He specified no clutch pedal though
Just can't think of any car where that is the case.
Just automatic manuals.
It'd be like a DSG or something stuck in manual mode
Saab had a clutchless manual called sensonic
Just a normal h shifter though
No clutch pedal
Me 305 had diesel runaway last year so thank fook its a manual
Newish range rover recently here smoking out a village
Im sure they are meant to have a flap or something to cut off air. Atleast some new diesels do
lmao, that works well https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4pn0jh
Oh yeah the parking video
It would've been alright if it just creeped like a robotized manual
It was planned feature but gm no patience
I imagine they are exaggerating it as is usual on top gear
Parking it two footed would maybe work well
Its great thing to do on your first car so learn how to drive a manual. And then you can get an automatic later on if you want to.
Here in Europe we have two different versions of the licenses one for automatic only and one for manual and automatic. So you need to your drivers test in a manual car to get a full licenses. If you do it in automatics you are only allowed to drive automatic cars.
Yeah vw is right and down
And you push the shifter down
The aveo had a collar that you had to pull up
Not all, there are also VW's with left and up
I would like to know if you are allowed to drive the cc850 with an automatic licenses in manual mode. And something I'm wondering why doesn't it have paddle shifters to that would have been a such a nice thing to have specially when driving on track when paddle shifters are superior.
Left and up is weird
You'll get used to it and don't even think about it
