I managed to buy a chain of cars with power memory seats until I got married and share a car with my wife, now our cars are power without memory and manual 😆
Today I saw a Mustang in traffic, it was of the Peugeot kind
Peugeot Mustang

Top Gear special? Where they put a Peugeot sticker on a Mustang?
The brake lights were the same shape, size and orientation as on a Mustang
According to my Steam page, yes.
So like any modern Peugeot?
Yeah, but it was also lower looking than most cars and black... Like most Peugeot's, but I thought it was a Mustang ;-;
What kind of a car was it? sedan?
my 2006 Porsche 911, MSRP of 80K, came with lumbar support. This isn't just taking a step back. Its a feature thats older than a decade for more "premium" cars...
Man gebruikt tele2
Ah yes 3 very nice British gentleman on a road trip through Argentina
What could possibly go wrong
What's the worst that could happen?
Maybe the porsche will break down
Tele2 = T-Mobile
KWeet
Didn't Tesla just announce that they are going to keep lidar radar on their new cars ? I don't se the problem with acceleration boost being an "add on" most people wont need it don't want to spend the extra 2k to get it.
My dads Passat has electric lumber support on driver side but on the passenger side its manual adjustable. And my moms BMW doesn't have it all if i remember correctly it only optional extra that car doesn't have it has anything else that you could get on that model year.
And my brother old e92 330i hade electric seats with memory but not any lumber support a very weird combo.
Well its a Porsche you need to pay extra for everything on them even new 200k+ Porsches comes with manual or partly electric seats as standard.
this is MSRP with all of the extras my guy. And its build quality is higher than a 2022 model S... Tesla is a painfully dissapointing company interms of actual features and QA
my seat dont even go up and down
Back and fourth, up/down, tilt, and then I can extend a leg support?
And then I can just move my back rest.
blessed with forward, back and tilt
Being able to tilt the seat itself can be pretty nice.
Yeah but it’s something the car has the hardware for
lots of flooding here today and dead cars of people thinking they are driving boats
worst bit is their insurance will pay out for their lunacy
I bet I could drive through it
Ok that's a little higher than expected
there is alot of dead cars in places cars should be able to drive if done with care..
nop
most of the stuck cars are as a result of hydrolocking earlier in the day when it was lower
There's really only one street around here that has flooded and I blasted through it in the f350
Otherwise flooding doesn't really happen here
drying out on it own slowly, good sign must mean the floor is watertight : )
sadly insurance will pay for all of their cars as writeoffs and we will all pay for it
Just shoot the floor with a rifle. EZ PZ.
The model y i got to drive didnt ant qualty issue what i could se but I never driven a new model s so i cant say anything about them. But I have heard that People that have driven those say that good improvment over the previous models.
I wonder where Tesla would have been if they just stuck to producing batteries.
Okay? I don't know what you are getting at.
People have different tastes of what's good. One person's shitbox is another person's dream car.
Y
why should I care
I have met plenty of people and had good conversations thanks to my nearly 40 year old shitbox
Alright. Then wire me €50k and I'll get myself a car.
I spend enough having my unit and tools to have a "fancy" car but im not a boring bastard
lmao.
Can't drive a RAM 3500 here.
too common, pointless vehicle here
And I wouldn't be caught dead driving one either way.
Too heavy to drive on a normal license.
just a troll but meh
Lmao
it might be silly
but I think that “ceramic” setting at the self serve car wash place actually helps repel water
it rained just enough today where normally it would make the car look horrible from the little water droplet marks in the dirt if you know what I mean
but there’s just nothing there it’s pretty cool
Probably adds a light coating of vax-like substance to help protect the paint?
That's slightly hydrophobic.
good improvement over previous models doesn't mean much as theyre notorious for having bad QA
Yeah you’re probably right
I wonder how long it’ll last
true
if teslas didn’t have the supercharger network I don’t think they would have nearly as many sales
it would just be another ev
now if everything else had access to the supercharger network that would be amazing because right now the non supercharger network sucks
and if they had less sales maybe quality control would improve because there isn’t as much pressure to crank them out? or maybe the opposite idk
aren’t superchargers allowed to charge other brands in some places in Europe?
I imagine they're forced to
I think they started opening up other brands to the Tesla chargers now.
Should have been standardised from the get go really
I wonder if theres any certification involved or if a DIY ev can plug in
toying with the idea of a plug in hybrid
PHEV is probably the way to go forward.
Quite like to make a electrified rear end for a old FWD car
very expensive for parts though
Just having around 50 km's of EV range makes a huge difference for daily use.
Especially if you throw slow chargers around all over the place.
In the car world it's bonkers to get a drag coefficient of 0.20 or lower, and penguins are out there slipping around with a Cd of 0.05.
🅱️ased penguins
After being in a Volvo V50 with the 2.0 hdi making 136hp it really makes me want one in a 305
all bolts up just confusers 🗿
Well my dads friend hade one of the first model 3 that was delivered to Europe. And know he has 2022 model y and he said that quality in his tesla is miles a head of his old model 3. And i can agree with that because I have been in both of Tesla's and difference between the old and new one is huge quality wise.
Well most of the Tesla supercharging network is open for all evs in Europe and the sales of tesla cars are still increasing so I guess that people are buying them because they like the car themself and not only for the charging network.
Aren’t European manufactured teslas generally much higher quality than US manufactured ?
Yeah I have heard that the cars build in Germany and China generally has better quality then US manufactured ones.
And the first model 3 that my dads friend hade was an US build one with much worse quality then he new 2022 model y that was build in Germany.
Sold my boxster, 4600 for a check engine light made the wife unhappy.
I’ve seen a lot of teslas at work, their quality is a joke. I will never buy a car that cost less to develop than a proper car company spends to make a cup holder.
Check engine light? Solution? Replace engine.
idk what scam ass repair center you went to, but ive had multiple problems with my 06' 911, the total repair cost by now is maybe 3500, i replaced every rotor and pad, the entire front suspension, and brake line repair, and water pump
most of those repairs were legacy repairs from previous owner
i think next i will get a Lotus Evora if i can swing it. If i cant get an older cabrio V10 R8
The light is there to tell you to check if the engine is still there
You dont have to replace it but rather install a new one if yours goes missing
my check engine light turned on and my engine is making sad noises
I think my Iveco has some turbo issue
Sadge.
I had an issue with the Volvo earlier. Where it said something about a bad sensor and the engine wanted to stall and not take off like it should???
Vacuum leak that had to be chased into the engine, removing the transaxle to get to it, 2k in labor. Upon removal of the trans one axel was also found to be bad.
I also don’t believe your “3500” number, unless unicef has gotten into the auto repair business.
but it did drive at all?
It did.
my worst case was the Adblue pump fail
and I got stuck like 350 km away from the mechanic
at the worst place
on Icy hill limited to 20 kmh
had to restart the computer by doing some black magic and do burnout till I freed my self
hate driving empty
No load on the drive axle.
And trailer just drags after you, and pushes when you don't have traction.
then dont, as ive said youre being overcharged. I go to a local place who is reputable by other porsche owners. So its cheaper. For parts i go to FCP Euro, as math, suspension job cost 900$, brake job cost 1600$, waterpump and brakeline were done at the same time and was only a 600$ for laber + miniscule number for parts. i included a couple odd jobs to get 3500$ that had to be done such as battery replacement.
also, engine removal being 2K$ in labour literally does mean youre basically being scammed.
its hard to get those engines out yes, not 2000$ hard.
Some people overcharge for jobs they really don't want to take.
And then sometimes end up doing it either way. Because the customer doesn't have many other options.
Ye my sister once got told 5000€ to fix everything to get TÜV on her car.. for brake lines, swapping out basically a couple of bulbs and a few more minor things that are like.. no work where half of it even I with my limited knowledge could fix it
Simply because the shop didn't want to do it
I mean i hate the meriva too but.. if she didn't have anyone to ask if that's reasonable she probably wouldn't be bothered to get the few things done and bought a new car
Also yikes 35k for a Peugeot e 208
Tell me what's wrong

no issue as long as you have dorifto style cutting brakes for steering 🤣
How does that even work
I'm assuming you just load one car over where the wheels actually are
And the rear section is just a built in ramp to assist with loading
Those cars usually have ramps that you pull out and put in place.
However, that car gets, uhh, poor weight distribution. With all of the car you're transporting being over the rear axle.
great for reverse ramming police cars
😳
The Rb25 c4 looks so hideous lol
Time for my first drive of 2023 😀
i walk a lonely road
hey wait wtf is this thing
it slowly rose up
is that a hud or something?
Yes it is.
You give me the temptation to start up the Ford Transit
Although I am drunk now
And it was very slippery outside to even with awd and new studded winter tires.
It was like +6c during the Day know it -2c.
According to the samung wheater app it is +2c but the car said -2c the whole time. And the roafs very icey too.
Giving some friends a lift in the 305 they found it quite humorous
@vocal mural bacially a summer night in Sweden.
"This weather isnt nothing" kicks the back end out
Also because I parked facing up hill all the diesel drained back to the tank
tiny leak somewhere enough to let air in but not diesel out
Svenske?
Yes
Ayyy my good ol' neighbour
Norweigen ?
Yeah
Did the same
And my moms BMW is imported from Norway to.
Yeah I was there this summer on a roadtrip with my family to Trollstigen and Gerianger and some more places.
Soo twas revealed that Linus is the proud owner of a taycan now 😄
Good xmas and New year's present for himself
Ye
The pink one ?
Trollstigen is truly beatiful
I was there 3 years ago i think
But he said new EV and he shit on government body that wouldn't accept the documents from Porsche dealership
Yeah the funny thing is that speed limit is 80km/h on that road.
There's Peak safety
No worries
Also dbrand might give him a LOT of money to wrap the car in a demascus skin lol
That'd be forking hilarious
Hasn't confirmed that he's going to do it or not lol
Yeah it was a bit sketcy driving up there when meeting a big buss mid cornor. And our car is quite big too.
Basically the whole "north part" of your country is beautifull with all of the "fjords"
Good luck with all of the german and polish busses blocking all of the roads. Maybe if will be possibal if you get some do88 parts for your SAAB 😀
have that here with horse boxes
10 cars too scared to overtake behind them meaning you have to overtake 10 cars and a horse box
its impossible in the 305 but I have done it in the Xantia
I do miss the saabs whopping 130hp but its too modern for me
too easy to get up to license loosing speeds and not feel sketchy in the slightest
Not every Day you see an do88 sticker on epa-tractor/a-tractor. Basically a car limited to 30km/h for teengers.
Was a guy on the Trionic tuning forum asking how to "detune" a 9-5 for that
think they lived in the french countryside car was for a 14 year old or something
Honda civic doing work
joys of saloons
I like the way the saloon 305 looks but practicality
meh
just have to get this one back on the road and ill have an estate too
damn those rear arches hella protrude into the cargo space
305 estate has horizontal springs to avoid that
That’s cool I never knew they popped up
So your either a shit who does not actually Porsche, as from Pelican "a complete front suspension" in parts alone is 2K trying to be an internet tough guy, or you have a sweetheart deal at a shop as Ive bee driving Porsches for over 15 years close to getting out college and the repair work you have listed never would be that cheap even on a busted as 924. Or you can take a deep look at yourself and learn to not be a piece of human garbage, and not feel the need to fabricate shit to be "right" as obviously the ship as sailed as the car is sold and I am happy with my new purchase.
Cost of doing work like I had done is well document due to IMS failure, I did not get "ripped off" as the so called internet tough guy claims.
Not a common thing on BMW they are usally just projected directly to wind screen but its not possibal on this model becuse the wind screen is to "steep".
Best be some decent suspension if you are paying 2k for it in parts
Lmao you’re getting so angry from someone trying to help
Sounds fine to me what are you talking about
pelican is expensive thats why i usually buy from FCP Euro, when i say completely rebuilt, i meant taken completely apart, swapped shocks and control arms, then rebuilt. obviously didn't entirely swap the suspension out as not all parts break at the same time. As for IMS failure, those did used to happen in boxsters, caymans, and 911 pre 06', but literally EVERYONE and their mother knew to take preventitive measures to make sure it didnt happen. Im not under that risk as my engine is at 75K, and is an M96_5 which is the one that was pre-fixed from factory.
might cop this cutie
Yes they are limited to 30km/h and you need a am/moped licence to drive them.
There are a whole lot of limitations to those cars. Or if you should call them tractors.
Can't have functional back seats and stuff like that.
so basically even more dangerous to the normal drivers
And then you have USA. Who allows teenagers to drive at 16 and pretty much whatever car, or bike they want. As long as they have a license for it.
@stoic ledge my brother bought his first car Suzuki Swift sport
its pretty fun ngl
2008 model i believe
Cars are kinda required to participate in society here
I kinda wanna get slotted/grooved discs, just because they look cool as shit
I've been allowed to since I was 16
Sadly the cities are built that way. And they think it costs too much to make town centered around cars, instead of people.
You need a different license for motorcycles
In Illinois it requires parental consent and a dot approved class
Cost would be substantial
I know. But that doesn't stop someone to jump on a Huyabusa at the age of 16.
And we have issues deciding if we even want to pay for some things
It stopped me because I couldn't get that parental consent
No matter
I will get a motorcycle license at 18
Doesn't stop me from driving a truck that weighs 7000lbs unloaded
🦅
Ideally your parents taught you to drive
rough
see all these old... lane hogging and its like please dont teach your kids to drive
You have to drive with your parents to get your license
I think in NL you don't actually have to do lessons/drive before your exam at all
Just gotta pass your exam
With a permit you are expected to be taught by someone knowledgeable.
Reality is they can't check if you drove anything for even a second until the practical exam.
To hell with the teenagers, i see more adults driving like idiots talking on their phone etc while going to work every day
And i know, because I pass them and give them the "you're a dipshit" glare
I look right at them
Not too bad, quite fun/tossable 🙃 Hope the power steering holds up, that can be a problem on those
With 10hrs being at night i think
Yep
If i remember from what i did
Even though I'm barely about to be 21 that still feels so long ago
best "modern" beemer
been tempted by one for a while but its its like 3 times as much to insure vs a 305
And finding good examples is expensive.
But damn if those cars aren't 25+ years old now. Pretty much 20 years for the ones last in production.
thankfully for me a bad example is a positive
400,000 km's. Baby.
Let me look around at some E39's to see how many miles they have.
From the ones that are being sold here.
Police here got rid of some of their newish 5 series
I believe before they sold them they put some sodium shit in the engine to rust lock them
Damn.
Some safety issue with the engine I think is why they got rid
avoiding liability when selling them on or whatever by destroying the engines
someone bought one of the notorious undercover ones and put a new engine in it and its back on the road scaring people : )
There are some E39's for sale with under 200,000 km's on them.
I know someone that bought a super cheap one, much fun
wouldnt have been too bad if it wasnt rotten AF usual "you havent done your 10 year complete coolant system replacement" coolant leaks
Yeeeeeah. The BMW's of that generation really likes having their whole coolant system renewed after a while.
"They’re not selling any of the 3.0 diesel BMWs for fear of liability claims, even though other forces are (we already have 4 in the film vehicle fleet now)"
wonder whats so bad with the 3.0 diesel in a 2015 5 series
Ah apparently they set on fire when driven hard
Which engine code? B57?
Yeah, I think it was the N57.
Considering that the wiki page doesn't say it was produced for that long.
No, wait. They just refreshed the engine a whole different times.
Officer died from his setting on fire while responding. Were all banned from exceeding the speed limit from that point.
Had to do chases in 1.2 peugeot estate beat cars
BMW blamed it on the polices "unique usage profile"
In other words. People used it like a BMW?
Apparently something to do with the EGR cooler
Put sodium silicate in to ruin the engines before getting rid
So apparently they have ridiculously low oil pressure at idle which the police do alot of combined with high miles and harsh acceleration. Engine catastrophically fails probably at high speed and sets on fire.
Fun
Friends 2022 Mercedes C200d is also in the shop due to an AdBlue problem
Dealer can't seem to be able to fix it
Love the emissions stuff
great fun when your brand new car cant even be fixed by the dealer
inspiring for when its 10 years old
Can always buy a new one
Contacted peugeot about a 305 part you know got to atleast try
predictable answer been out of production for a long time
Was to be expected after such a time yeah
But yeah confidence inspiring a 2022 can't be fixed
Atleast most things on a 305 can be bodged
merc 10 years down the line: just scrap it
I recently discovered Merc's 7G-Tronic has 2 reverse gears:
722.9 Transmission Gear Ratio
1st 4.3772
2nd 2.8586
3rd 1.9206
4th 1.3684
5th 1.0000
6th 0.8204
7th 0.7276
Reverse 1 -3.4157
Reverse 2 -2.2307```
Why?!
gotta go fast
You can go faster in reverse than forward in 2nd gear
Probably for delivery drivers reversing at 100km/h in their Sprinter van
Apparently its for winter mode heh
Aaah like when it starts in 2nd gear to drive off
Hmmm kinda makes sense
So if you want to reverse quickly put winter mode on : )
knowing modern cars probably has some boring electronic reverse speed limit
Trucks having four reverse gears. Now that's the real fun one.
I've driven tractors with 24 reverse gears
Likely
So easy to reverse quickly in old cars
Get into a new car turn head "oh"
dont really use the 305 mirrors when parallel parking they are pretty useless due to not being stuck out
bleh
> CH-R
most things these days
If no one is sitting in the rear, I always put the headrests down
But my rear pillar is massive
middle lapbelt only and no headrests on rear
my passengers can enjoy their whiplash to the fullest
I just use the back up camera
Ngl, so can most people in modern cars. Imagine adjusting your headrests properly
Backup camera
are backup cameras still an optional extra, I imagine so
Yeah
Mandatory in the US
In USA they're mandated
pennies to add so a bit ridiculous
But > 'murica
not like they dont already have big fuck off screens
It prevents toddlers being run over.
Honestly I appreciate the lower/farther back viewpoint a camera gives me.
I can't see around SUVs. The camera is an eye 6-7 feet removed from where I am sitting.
Doesn't matter how much greenhouse you have when you are parked between two apartment block. lol
Driven a car with one, it was decent for parking but when trying to reverse quickly up a single track road still beh
I change between a car with a backup camera and one without. Not too much issue.
Truck having an automatic cover for the reversing camera is a life safer.
rain or?
should take the exhaust from the air brakes and put it on the camera to dry it
I don’t have headrests
Cover flips down to protect it from any weather.
Only have a problem with it when it comes to slushy snow.
exactly
my friend asked me why i use my backup camera "just use ur mirrors" (from someone who doesn't even have their license)
if there's cars on either side how are you supposed to see what's coming with mirrors
Reverse camera is nice as an added security. But you should never rely on it.
What do you mean rely on it
You use it to look behind you
Better than any mirror can
i guess people say that if it breaks or something or you get a rental without one
then you might not know how to use mirrors when backing into a spot or somn
If it breaks. Or the fact that you lose your surroundings if you only look at the camera view.
The camera might only look straight behind you, where as you see more by using your mirrors, or by moving your head.
what i do is use the camera until my drivers window is past the rear bumper of the cars parked next to me
then i look out the windows and all that because then the camera is too far back
It has fixed ones I think?
Don't like those either
Yeah, just part of the backrest
With the truck. Then I constantly move my head around to check all of the mirrors and the camera when I'm reversing.
Also, reversing camera should be used as an aid, so as an addition to watching the mirrors and looking around you
It’s an aid just like mirror is an aid
but your mirrors don't do anything until you're actually out of the spot really
until then you just see the car next to you
that's my take
With cars, then I just use the mirrors to get myself into position. And then the camera for the last meter or two.
Reverse in a spot, no problem then

Always reverse into parking spots.
Oh is this about backing out of a spot?
Apparently
I thought just general use of a backup cam
Backing into a spot lol
Or parallel parking
Backing off a driveway
backing into a spot is easy with mirrors
Reversing into parking spots mean that you will have much better visibility when you are leaving.
And easier with a backup cam
true
And reversing into parking spots also mean that you minimize risks.
You can do like millimeter precise shit with a backup cam
Reversing out of parking spots is always a big eeeeh
Those lines are generally incredibly accurate
i just like to double check with my mirrors if i back into a spot it makes me feel better that my mirrors or whatever isn't going to hit the person next to me
I can do more precise stuff with the mirrors ngl
My car has “cross traffic alert” or something
Ditto.
bump test is the best parking method
You know that you have reversed enough when you start hearing a crunch.
The only real advantage a backup cam has to me is to see how far I can go backwards. I have 0 aids so sometimes the distance is hard to judge when I can't see the bonnet of a car in the rear while parallel parking
had a van with a towbar "bump test" my saab no damage though
That's also why I like cameras.
Wel yeah, but knowing exactly how far back you can go makes everything else easier
And you can see small things on the ground
Meanwhile me who almost slammed into my garage wall going forward because my new car doesn’t have parking sensors
Which you can very easily miss with mirrors
world bollard
Especially when backing into a spot surround by 2 cars
Sheeesh clean Benz truck
atleast they wont get smashed as is often on trucks
For trucks I think they're more useful, for cars not so much
I also like that with cameras the perspective doesn’t change when you look into them from differents angles
Fun fact. They come with a spare mirror for emergency use.
But I don't drive trucks so not sure if it's actually better
I haven't really tried it myself.
But I could imagine you could get multiple views for it for certain situations
I used camera mirrors in ETS2 😂
Heh friend with a fiesta had their mirror stolen
one way to get a spare
Looking through the windshield you focus on stuff 100m away
And then the mirror is 50cm away
Ah yeah I always need a spare mirror
What I would really like about them is the increased visibility. Since you don't have a huge mirror blocking your view.
So much can hide behind the mirrors of a truck.
For trucks also a giant difference for airflow and fuel consumption
Yeah. Something you might not care about with cars.
But if you are saving 1% fuel from it. That can be a big deal.
Well it's also important there, but has a smaller impact there then on trucks. On cars they're often better shaped, camera mirrors arent much smaller. And the screens and camera's also consume power. But on a truck they're massive rectangular panels
But yeah small things like that have a massive impact on a fleet
Oh, it's actually around 1%.
dunno... replacing the two mirrors with cameras? Surface area should be a tiny fraction even on cars
Mercedes quotes 1.3% fuel savings.
If a truck does 200k km/year, and you consume 30L/100km vs 29.5L/100km, that's a difference of 1000L/year
And the power consumption if fairly minimal
half a mile to the gallon in a car that gets 30 mpg
I think Hyundai or someone tested it and the difference was negligible
The bigger difference is probably just wind noise.
Negligible difference here, negligible difference there
Suddenly you have a notable difference.
was that ICE?
Might've been negligible in the other way you expected
On an Ioniq iirc
They were too cheap to implement it?
Wish Toyota had gone through the effort to use more aluminum in their cars
And put that extra kilogram of effort.
Civic is that much bigger, still weighs something like 100 pounds less than the Corolla.
100 pounds means your car is that tiny bit faster, tiny bit easier on gas, tiny bit lighter, and generally will require less energy to move
Honestly, I want to see the two Porsche people here fight it out over cost of repairs.
Cause one of them sounds like they went to a dealer. lol
We need to put modern cars on a diet.
Absolutely agree.
For the cost, cars should weigh less.
3 years ago... fine. All steel construction and all that jazz. But now a Corolla is pushing 30k? Fuck cost cutting. Give me a car that has 30k worth of engineering that went in.
Sounds like a European problem.

The problem with cost is mainly that cars require more safety shizz.
Along with that the consumers expect all the bells and whistles.
I got my Corolla for 23.5k.
Bigger cars in general are more desired here now aswell for whatever reason
The same exact car now starts at something like 25k.
No real changes beyond automatic is now standard/mandatory.
Corolla starts here as €32695 which is 35k USD currently
Because they make you feel safer.
And you require a bigger car if you want a bigger green house compared to years back.

I'm glad Toyota is still making a compact car
Look at the green house that the BMW E30 has and compare it to any modern car.
And honestly modern compact cars are super fancy now. Compared to 10 years ago? Damn near luxury car features.
All of them coming with Bluetooth radio and everything.
But Honda and Mazda somehow pushed what a compact car can be even farther.
Yeah that's why I might be getting a base Astra as a company car ... Literally everything you'd ever need is already standard
For Mercedes pretty much every generations the new feature on the last gen S gets passed down to the E and what was new on the E gets passed do to the C
I'm fine with the safety features and tech.
Base model already has heated seats, reversing cam, adaptive cruise, ergonomic seats, LED headlights, wireless AA/ACP
And now we're at the point where the A class has almost all the fancy shit you could want
A-Class can have some wild stuff with AR satnav etc
Fully loaded 1.0 TSI Audi A3 can get specced up to €70k, that's crazy

Did it yesterday at work lol
A guy here has a modified smart roadster with self driving

The only reason why I'd go up a trim is to get a black painted roof ... But the additional price isn't worth it lol, all the other additional features I don't care about

sooo cruise control and climate control?
Those are my 2 main things I want from a car
ewhh fancy
Even a heated steering wheel is standard
adaptive :o
so when a car has adaptive cruise control, can you still make it "dumb" cruise control?
Depends from the car
About the Astra, uncertain
I'm only sad that I can't spec a heated windshield on the base model
haha, so my co worked has a Ford Fiesta with a heated windshield
It didn't do much when it was frosted over haha
Worked great on my brothers Volvo
did fords patent run out or something
Uncertain, but I know VW used a different technique from Ford
Idk what Stellantis uses
So do these heated windshield have any visible wires in them?
ive seen them on a mk1 focus
Quickclear windscreen means that scrapping car windscreens on cold cold mornings is a thing of the past - simply sit back and let Quickclear do all the work.
Find out more - https://www.jenningsmotorgroup.co.uk/new/ford/heatedwindscreen/
random thing I noticed, that URL looks like it has a time stamp in it, but that's just the URL
Lol so true
I need heated doorhandles
Inb4 they get replaced with buttons
Retrofitting a diesel heater to the 305 and cruise maybe..
My doorhandle has a button on it, lol
Brick on the accelerator
pretty much atm
I have to speed on the way back on the motorway else my engine wont be in the right power spot to maintain speed
hahhahaha
Can go down a gear to get up the steep bit but itll be aids level rpm
Highest level of comfort in that car 😛
Do you have any modern cars?
1995 saab
only insured car is the 305 atm
new daily will be this, wouldnt be too bad if I didnt have to weld all the rust holes for inspection
so when you pick a daily, how important is reliability
very, this has no engine so my choice
No engine = no problems
despite my warpath to the shittest car only broken down once
I want to put a modern hdi in but cant be too bothered with confusers
will get the N/A XUD from my saloon for now, when the turbo engine goes into my saloon
Old 2.0 HDI 8v is also a good reliable engine
The 90hp version
DW10 TD / RHY that is I think
Man
I saw a truck that had PVC pipes holding the side mirrors
and next one had mirrors being held by plywood
also love roads that are red
Heavy traffic?
yeah has to be a RHY else mounting differences
(Filmed in Mexico)
RHR / RHW engines I think sit at a difference angle and thus have a different gearbox etc
Ideally id have an entire car but stuff is worth a fair bit now
probably just have to buy an engine and try to get the confuser to play ball
lmao nice
kinda looks like kansas or somn to me however
(this video was filmed on a closed course done by trained professionals)
Wasn't filmed there ^
most certainly not
Can't you buy a used 206/307 for cheap? Take the engine, sell the rest for parts
Just a part of Mexico that looks like rural Illinois
yea yea
none local atm but yeah only like £700 but I am a cheapskate
travelling for a 307 is not the most motivating thing
Just buying an engine is like £200
£40 for an early single plug loom (pre body control module bs) and £100 for a unlocked single plug ECU
I would just stuff the 307's body control shit in somewhere if I had a full car but having a older 306 setup is much more preferable anyway
and 306's are actually desirable so I wont be getting one cheap
Funny thing the hdi 90 will probably run better in my car
no intercooler on hdi 90's afaik

would fit one
Just wish XUDs werent getting rarer
so simple one wire and you are away
I imagine theres some tomfoolery gearbox end wise
Hybrid4 has the 2Tronic iirc
Think thats RHW
could still be done, would be fun to modernise something that far but I would need a full functioning car
mmoney
oh its got e4wd
RHC apparently, similar to RHH and RHE
eh I dont know that new heh
Basically RHW with more power?
Only know as far as like them changing the angle the engine sits at to be more straight
When they moved past RHY
probably for when cars snoots were getting shorter
Likely
Why the 2.2 diesel cant be easily fitted but has been done with fabrication
Most people going for power just swap a 16v head from a later one onto a HDI 90
Isn't the 16v less reliable?
probably but so is BIG POWAH
Woah big power, like 109hp?
people going for like 200+ hp
That's going to have a slight impact on reliability I presume yes
So does 2 turbo's and a supercharger

spin, spin, spin, oh spinning again!
In a 305 with 0 weight and skinny tires
Fact
is nice to have stuff secured away
Get a 505 Familiale
sort of prefer 305's
less easy to perform engine tomfoolery
boat status
I was offered one
pelican boxes in my saloons boot exceed the cars value
from work im not so foolish. will waste over a grand on genuine pelican boxes but no payrise :^|

Im not sure we have any spare 305 headlights left so the estate might be getting a pair of sealed beams bodged in the front
its the american model :^)

parents will probably hate it
They think im going to get killed in the saloon, telling me how the saab is so much nicer
With the current drivers on the road I wouldn't be surprised
meh most of the accidents I see are following distance related
Definitely not optimal
I also see a lot of distracted drivers (e.g. phones)
And just people who think the world revolves around them
A92 who can get the furthest up the verge challenge
ranger won
disqualified for leaning on the van
had to stop around about there to top off coolant before heh, really annoyed me rejoining finally a gap in traffic just one car im sitting with a right signal on
do they move over fuck no
big trench in the grass from me trying to send it
Bro isn't that near Aberdeen 😂
this bits between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy
Ah ok
I'm from Glasgow but me gran lives up near Aberdeen the folk there are worst drivers ye ever seen
rarely go to aberdeen but up north the A9 I find myself losing my mind
get people that do 40 in a 60 when its a single carriageway then it goes to a dual carriageway where you can pass them and they are up to 70
would just send it but avg speed cameras
Is this in bald eagle or 🇪🇺
whatcha think
we use miles per hour in britin you know
The torque converter locks up in my truck at 80mph
sounds broken
bit of a shit design then
Probably because bigger tires
A9 isnt like a motorway or anything
most of it there is one lane for each direction with no barrier
That's 55mph here
Speed limit is primarily for environmental purposes
basically the default speed limit here is 60mph
70mph here aswell
But everybody does faster than that
same here
Usually I do 65mph on the highways and now I do 80mph on the interstate because it's more efficient
realisitcally doing around 50mph is the best environmentally
we have a "national speed limit" so like even these roads are 60mph
which I mean you can do safely at points
trucks here are electronically limited to 56mph
doing 50mph on a motorway here isnt really a issue as we use lanes properly
seeing videos of american motorways is like anarchy
must absolutely suck to drive trucks
(actual trucks)
more meaning keeping track of cars around you in a semi
could have a car going up your inside all the time and that wouldnt be outrageous there
I almost t boned somebody yesterday because he just drove in front of me and stopped in my lane
undertaking here is considered dangerous
Here's something funny: this one random video in this YouTube playlist reliably crashes the Infotainment system in my friend's car 😂
And apparently it runs Windows
holy shit
I got $1 off gas with fuel points somehow even though I’ve barely bought anything in the past month

Gas was $2.92/gal when I left my house this morning
But I still get diesel
Low 4s with cash back
Lmao that’s the price of normal gas here without the discount
apparently those fuel points were my dad’s and now he’s triggered
somehow our accounts got linked
good car advice, if gas is too expensive just use diesel
Remember when diesel was cheaper than gas
yup
got a turbodiesel vw in the family that thing was a cheat code for both fuel economy and cheap fuel ups up before covid 😂
per gallon? 🤯
National speed limit laughs in german
Help
NL has a 130kph national speed limit, but a 100 kph limit during the day, but a somewhat funny part is that the 100 limit only counts after a sign that says so so you can actually do 130 on on ramps and then when you run into a sign that says 100 you have to slow down.
But often it actually takes a while to come across a sign that says 100
Living where they make ethanol helps.
Doesnt make a dent in diesel though.
It broke 5.44 not long ago
Your engine looks like Bane from the Tim Burton Batman films
If it works, it's not stupid 🙃
My 1994 Diesel Xantia has EGR get to fook
I have no idea if it will work or it woll blow out
you can't find the OEM part that won't disintegrate anymore
Remember when they thought biodegradable wiring was a good thing?
my poor Xantia has its original turbo at 230k miles
100kph during the day is dumb af
Part of me really want a Citroen for the suspension they have.
But a good part of me knows better.
Its not too bad but my BX could do with everything being replaced
yes, yes it is
just usual 30 year old rubber issues compounded with a car that has many rubber lines related to suspension
Xantias perfect though, but ofcourse BX is BX so that cant be killed off
And my 305 is desperate for more than 60hp
Our family used to have the XM wagon. I want to say the facelift one? But I'm honestly not sure.
(Not the actual one)
Was offered an XM would have taken it if it was an estate
Was offered it with the clause that I couldn't rip the engine out
2.1TD XUD would have been epic
Kind of want the Citroën Xantia Activa V6.
Even the standard Xantia can make some people sick
Fastest car through the moose test.
friend was laughing at how boaty it was
Will say Xantia is the most comfortable car I have been in other than being frozen to death
Still would prefer my BX to have springs, one for simplicity
Citroen is generally pretty good at comfort, especially if you get one with hydraulic suspension.
But you really just need to swap over to springs once any of the hydraulics give up.
Had Xantia in service position drove it off the ramp hit a pothole speeding away and got launched into the roof
suspension is solid in that mode
Looks the best but is the worst car I own
Id argue this is "easier" to get MOTd
nope
why would anyone want a car to last more than 10 years!
It was a thing that Mercedes did for a couple of years.
iirc, the logic was that a certain percentage of the car needed to be biodegradable. Mercedes thought wiring harnesses were a good choice to bump up their percentage a little bit.
I think the BMW E36 had a bunch of biodegradable stuff as well?
Which is why their interior likes to fall apart.
Old bimmers over here are always clapped out rust buckets. Probably due to all the salt on the roads in the winter.
So we did our 2nd long ish (900 miles each way) roadtrip with our model y this last week. I drove it all and made some mental notes of ice cars / trucks around us as we got onto the highway. Having an EV had 0 impact on our progress relative to those other cars which I found a bit surprising. Honestly having a toddler probably slowed us down more.
You know what I'm doing?
Replacing a light bulb?
Called it.

Changing to LED?
Staying incandescent because of the price
$15 for a new bulb
LED is like $100
Also it's my grandpa's truck
To be fair. If you count labor then switching to LED would be worth it.
I do the labor for free
wtf an led bulb for $100???
Depends. They cost a lot more for cars that are designed for halogen.
i would go LED but its germany and not allowed for my car
I wonder if it would still fly for fog lights and high beam.
best headlights
That's a nice Mercedes.
Bruh isn’t even admiring his Peugeot
interesting
my car has something called xenon
all I know is it’s some kind of gas and they have xenon lights in GTA 😛
Different design on the bulb, and filled with xenon gas instead of a halogen.
Those look like tiny brakes for the size of that vehicle
Lmao, imagine charging your grandparent for labor
Welcome to American vehicles.
They aren't that small
I think they're about the same size as the brakes on my f350
It doesn't though
Bro my jaguar has massive ceramic brakes that hardly fit from factory lol uk and Germany put massive brakes on
Most trucks aren't performance vehicles
It's a family saloon lol
Better brakes are a safety feature.
I know that's why America should standardise bigger brakes
I think the brakes on my 1000 kg car are about the size of the ones on that big ass truck 😂
The Dodge Promaster I drive for work has drum brakes at the rear kek
My grannys Renault captur 2014 has drum brakes on the rear also
Calipers on mine are definitely smaller though
I not sure I’ve ever even driven a car with drum brakes
They're 350mm in diameter
Idk what that translates to
Also that's a relatively small truck
Okay that’s bigger than I thought
Short bed f150
But still smaller* than I would expect for a truck
It stops good
It also pulls geo trackers well
Or suzuki vitaras in europe
Front and rear brakes
The truck is on 17s
fuckn cars that require dismantling to change light bulbs
305 doesent need the assemblies removed but even if you wanted to you can take apart the front end without any tools
turn 2 tabs and the grille can be removed. disconnect the springs from the back of the headlights then pull the levers and they can be pulled out
corners are held in by a clip
different times
In modern days thanks to the power of cad software we can determine exactly where to place stuff to obstruct you
IIRC my beater truck requires an inconvenient amount of disassembly to replace some of the front lights. Nothing like taking the wheel off but still more annoying than it should be.
https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/101vau8/the_hoonigans_ken_block_passed_away_earlier_today/ I hate this year already
Yep
RIP
RIP
That's gotta be fake
Its unfortunately most definitely not, a quick look around shows that
damn
in reality, it was only a matter of time with the stuff he did
but you can assume whatever killed him involved going too fast.
Rest in peace to Ken man, shittiest news.
Snowmobile flipped on top of him in the backcountry. He was with a group but alone at the time. Not sure if died from impact of snowmobile crushing him or suffocating in snow. No coroner report yet.
Guy did everything, he definetly lived his life to the fullest.
Sad for his family most of all.
WTF NO
What a terrible way to start a year.
found this relic in dyker heights
Literally the electric gymkhana inspired me to build a car. And now getting into it. Sad to know this but he inspired many of us and someone will take his spot one day.
On January 2, 2023 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Wasatch County 911 Center received a call reporting a snowmobile accident in the Mill Hollow area.
Search and Rescue, along with law enforcement from Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, Utah State Parks and the U.S. Forest Service responded.
The driver, Kenneth Block, 55-year-old male out of Park City, Utah, was riding a snowmobile on a steep slope when the snowmobile upended, landing on top of him. He was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
Mr. Block was riding with a group but was alone when the accident occurred.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
We are saddened to hear of the loss of Kenneth and our hearts are with his family and friends so deeply affected.
We thank all of our first responders for their continued service.
yeah, he's dead.
It did fix the issue, but now it shows ecm error
tires for my pos
I was gonna get yokohamas but I live in Akron so I figured I might as well get Firestones or Goodyears
big money
The spinner
model 3 went off a cliff in california and all 4 people survived, the 2 adults are in critical condition and somehow the kids were only mildly hurt
that's crazy
the cliff was like 250-300 feet tall
A Tesla sedan with four people plunged nearly 250 feet off a cliff along Highway 1 at Devil's Slide in Pacifica, Calif. on Monday morning, injuring two adults inside. The other two children in the car were unharmed, according to CAL FIRE officials. https://abc7ne.ws/3Q6wTd7

Modern engineering is quite something.
Yeah. I heard of that this morning. Big loss.
And automatic levelling and reflector is required
Yeah. I want to say that xenon requires a projector?
You can’t even wash your own car in your driveway 😔
absolutely amazing tire have these on my g37
compared to the all seasons i ran previously these hook up amazingly well, both in a straight line and corners
Yeah the saftey in modern cars keep impressing me everey time soecially tesla i have som crasy new about accidents in them and somewhat most of people inside has survived with minor injures or none.
pilot sport4 or better, or bust
still im doing that. same goes for running the engine for defrost
Are you able to upsize to 205/55R16? You have a lot cheaper tires in that size.
Surprisingly those car are sturdy
Kind of required to. They need to be super stiff where they have their batteries.
True. I do hate one part of that however
Fixing a dent on the body it’s expensive af. Its all 1 piece so you got to buy the whole side of the car to fix it.
Lots of cars being totaled because of minor crashes these days.
They just have so much electronics that aren't worth fixing.
And if they can fix it for a reasonable price. Then you can't find parts for months and months.
Yeah parts availability is also bad
Yeah my German friend tells me of their goofy laws over there
Rest in Peace, Ken Block 😭
S40s have a weird stock size
Like 3 cars use 215/50r16
I'm lowering it so I wanted close to stock
Exactly 15 liters
And <€2/liter so it's cheap
@vocal mural look, I'm supporting the Dutch economy for once
That's not a very crazy size? Mercedes also uses/used them a lot on A/B/CLA/ for example
I can get 400+ tires in that size
Hmm although the cheapest I'd even consider are still 85 each
1,75€/l in Sweden right now.
But... Super 98
Only the best for the mighty Corsa
1,8€/l for 98
Not only you..
Luckily did i refuel company car
sucks for ken block
still can't believe it
he's just gotten with audi and was starting do to some cool open wheel stuff with his daughter
I pay $1.32/L for 87 (MON+RON)
dats a munny pit
Well usually I sponsor the 🇧🇪 government
Yesterday we lost a legend. Ken Block was my Hero and I can't believe he's gone. RIP Ken.
turning ads off for this video
Like one vehicle used 255/55r17
And there is only one manufacturer of it
5 speed too
I like the 05-9 S197's best body imo, and the 4.6 sounds the best. But isn't faster than the coyote motors, and aren't power friendly with upgrades. But they're fun to drive and good cruising cars
yeah i think it does
It has the little motors inside of the headlight that moves them when you go around turns and stuff and you can see it cross cross when you turn them on
wait what? Why not?
Because germany is goofy
I'm not german, or from germany. But my german friend tells me it's illegal to do it yourself outside of a self serve dedicated carwash because of the "chemicals" and stuff in the products
So the self serve washes have tanks to capture everything I guess or you just have it done for you.
