People claiming they've been to the Netherlands and only seeing Amsterdam
or say hi
Also people calling NL Holland ๐คฎ
one wanders, do the dutch import soil to raise the land height when preparing a property for a house build
Holland is the shit part
what? hahah
Heh no, GM is a master in destroying companies but they're still around, part of PSA -> Stellantis now
We do not build hills just to put houses on them
like... is there a min sea level build rule or something .. since the sea level is rising all the time
NL currently doesn't build houses at all
We build dykes for that
tOo mUcH nItRoGeN pOlUtIoN
Really depends on the engine... OPC is nice tho xD
There is an OPC zafira? haha
All those areas are surrounded by dykes
Zafira B OPC had the 2.0 Turbo of the Astra H, 241hp
There has also been an OPC version of the Meriva A lol
The second one had a "sport" button
Cosmo
Oh yeah Cosmo's did have that
it was black
So I actually looked it up recently
Lots of failed APKs ๐
Leaks and shit
As I said, shitbox
Might have been
my 2019 S3 ๐ I swear this thing does 0-100km in 4 seconds flat sometimes ๐ great car
That's not a Zafira ๐ซต
And sometimes it doesn't because it's an Audi and thus broken?
runs
well much prefer an audi than a bmw, way more reliable
performance difference is based on O2 in the air, temp, humidity, etc..
hahahhahahha LIKE I SAID, SHITBOX
1.6 was too small but reliable, 1.8 was acceptable in speed and quite reliable, 2.2 is quite a nice engine when it works but it can leak a bit... 2.0 Turbo (regular and OPC) is speed
Still less fires than a Tesla ๐
Improper repairs tho ๐ค
Apparently the resistor pack of the interior fan
Yes they can fail, and is quite cheap to replace, even with genuine parts.... but some probably swapped them with cheap eBay units which failed
hmm
It was probably the 2.2
Don't remember the license plate so can't look it up
I also don't remember how I got the license plate when I looked it up recently
in other words, buy OEM if it is an engine part or an electrical item.
If it is cosmetic, feel free to buy from ebay/amazon
Basically
or buy directly from bosch/denso for a nice discount
most parts are made by those ODM's...
I imported a part for my parents Opel from the US as it was waaay cheaper as to buy it from here
oil filter from mayback $200, Mercedes $50, Bosch $15
same exact part, different P/N brand lol
Did you try getting it from the dealer?
Part is made in Germany, shipped to the US, I ordered it there, shipped to Europe, for 1/6th of the price it costs here
Dealer, but also online
Surprisingly dealer is often the cheapest place to get something
Dealer was โฌ240
I got it for โฌ40
Including import fees, shipping fees and taxes
EVAP purge valve
Well they didn't have it in stock so they also had to order it... wouldn't be surprised if, as they aren't part of GM anymore, GM charges ridiculous rates for the parts to get them
Ok no wait I also remembered a slightly different part number.... which was intended for the automatic version while we have the manual car
But I was like, it's a purge valve, it just opens and closes, why wouldn't it work? And in the US, the same purge valve was used in the same engine with a manual transmission
The slightly different part number in Europe was still like โฌ120, so basically half the original valve
But then I got it for โฌ40
Genuine GM ACDelco part with the Bosch valve
hmm
how can the auto have a different P/N to the manual, something isnt right there
its gotta be the same part ... surely
Also stupid, I couldn't just buy the valve (which was just โฌ25 even in Europe) but you couldn't seperate it from the hose as they used a heat shrink
They're very slightly different, the automatic version is slightly thiccer, but the connections, mounting position, overall dimensions are indentical
Bosch valve number was also different
surprising, usually manufacturers prefer to create one part for multiple models to keep SKU costs down
hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Ever so slightly different
But I was like... it's a valve which opens when it has power, and closes when the valve is off
Why would it not work?
looks more like a revision change than a model difference
I have the parts manual/numbers, it's listed as a different component, lemme check
sounds like EVAP is emissions related. maybe that is why the specs are strict
Ah no it was for engines with Start/Stop and Engines without Start/Stop, that's the distinguishing thing
My bad
ah ok
But I remembered the manual US cars having the same part as the European Start/Stop engine while the US cars didn't have Start/Stop
Idk looked it up months ago xD
Maybe a slightly larger EVAP "reserve" for the Start/Stop engine for when it needs it on start up?
Idk
I've fitted it in April and it hasn't shown the code since so it seems to work ๐
Also I'm not a mechanic, just tried to fix it for my parents without getting charged stupid fees for something this simple
"pfft" wouldnt they just use the larger EVAP part for both models to save SKU costs?
"pfft" lol
I have no idea lol
yeah strange, could just be a revision change
In the US they only used one valve, in Europe they made it different
maybe they made the larger one later on but they still had stock of the previous revision and had to get rid of them
Could be that later models also got the valve we have now... when our car was made the Start/Stop version wasn't available yet iirc
yeah maybe just a rev change
non-start/stop and start/stop models probably use the same part now
Yeah so the Start/Stop version was available from Jan-2012, ours was made in Oct-2011 and registered Dec-2011
So you're probably right
yeah perhaps
good reason why to buy from a dealer, you can almost guarantee the part is correct
even if it is 2x - 3x more expensive than ebay
Dealer didn't tell me it was a revisioned part xD
And they could still order they old part
But thanks to the parts catalogue I did find the other one, and ordered by that exact partsnumber from an GM Parts retailer
the new P/N should substitute the original P/N which is probably out of stock
helps to have the correct parts catalogue for your exact car ๐
Idk usually the parts catalogue shows revisions if there is one
Atleast I've seen it a few times
But maybe they updated it wrong here?
I'm already glad it's a free version which has literally everything xD
errors can happen
Exactly
ODM's can often miss drawings of various items in the Parts Diagram
Especially when a product is half done, the parts catalog is half done, a month later the guy forgets to update it...
Service providers download these documents and try to find parts that are missing in the diagram
Part numbers have no description, part locations are missing or incorrect
All you can do really is to report the issue to the ODM and ask that they fix it
They fix it and it's all good ... until the next model lol (rinse and repeat)
I have no idea where I can report it
Or maybe they did keep using the old part for the slim amount of non-S/S they probably made until it was discontinued, and you could only get the S/S-version
And it's basically a Rolls-Royce so a โฌ40 part to fix it is a win ๐
Well service centres would report those kind of things
but if it all works now, it's all good ๐
Previous owner kept them, we're stuck with velour floormats ๐ฅฒ
Price on request
For the poor people in the room that means theyre expensive
I found some other ones online for like four fitty
https://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/en_US/boutique/all-accessories/metal-fuel-filler-cap.html
I also need this Metal Fuel Filler cap, previous owner replaced ours with a plastic GM part
The heresy
https://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/en_US/boutique/all-accessories/fire-extinguisher.html
Even the fire extinguisher is Price on request
umm why rolls royce? same part as GM?
I assume you are pretending your GM uses rolls royce parts ๐
(it's a joke, because the car has the Meriva uses the same style backwards opening door (can't use the term or the bot will mute me) as a Rolls Royce)
See picture
ahhh .. ok the sui___ doors
Got-ya
the MX-8 Mazda also has those
I dont know why they are called sui___ doors ... silly to name them that way IMO
RX-8 you mean?
should call them drunken exit doors instead lol
sry yeah RX-8
You can get lambo doors for an RX-8 ๐
oh... yeah u can get kits for various models
Yeah but it's apparently quite common for the RX-8
As back in the day, the wind could catch underneath the latch, blowing the door open and sucking you out -> dead
I think it was something like that
lolol ... omg I was considering getting lambo doors for my Civic ๐น
Lambo doors would make getting into my car easier, haha
Also, different from the RX-8: the rear door can open without the front doors being open ๐
ah ok I see
makes sense
if you google "RX8 doors". half of them have lambo doors
Okay same if I google my car, haha
I've seen Corsa's with Lambo doors
It's hideous
Convenient though
Get a 1007 If you want convenience
I feel like you would need to WD40 spray that door rail once a week lol
They aren't problem free, that's for sure
I can imagine
They expected to sell ~175k/year... Iirc they made 125k in 4 years
just have a can of WD40 rigged to the hinge, every time it opened, it would spray a splash of WD40 lol
auto-lube ๐
Kek yes
It's a Pininfarina design tho
Toyota had a similar car, the Spade
Although on the other side it had just regular doors lol
ah I see
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ford has a minivan with sliding rear doors without a B-pillar
Ngl, minivans had some quite cool and innovating concepts
This looks stupid and is tiny, i love it
Best they can do is aygo for Europe
kids will squeeze through 25cm of space between seats/pillars, they really don't care about 1 meter of exit clearance lol
Aygo isn't really that Japanese tho, developed in Europe, made in CZ, developed for the European market, based on a shortend Yaris platform...
they will find a wat to escape lol
If other people then kids want to get in, a bit of space is nice
true
adult child seats
Prefer wide openings over kids
Ngl the rear opening doors on the Meriva are very practical to get my grandparents in the car
'practical'
Just stick them on the roof
with 3M double sided tape
Meriva aint unpractical
indeed
Its just stupid
k fair enuf
Im also stick with a meriva
seeing that emoji, I wander what fish would be able to fit into that mouth
a Tuna may fit
Yeah but the old one, the B is waaaaay better
And in every way i prefer my up because its tiny and stupid and one of the last good VW's
Except the rust its getting from being bullied through alpine winters
Did they make a b5 passat with a 1.9tdi?
Yeah, multiple
I think 3 or 4 different power levels
Regular TDI, red T DI, red TD I, red TDI
Which facelift of the b5 lul
low engine capacity VW engine cars seem decent. A 4cyl VW/Audi = not a bad purchase, unless it's ,an Audi 4cyl that has super-thin piston rings that drink 1 litre of oil every 3 days
...aka an Audi A4 or A5 2011
Meh 1.2 / 1.4 chain driven TSI were horrible also
hmm
Somebody should trade me a 1.9tdi passat or a 1.8t a4 for my 2.8 a4
Confused 1 liter noises
I should put coilovers on my a4 so that I can dump it on some kid for $4000
Transmission they put together with that is bad
Also stupid thing about the b5 passat
Vr5
I don't even understand why my a4 is rated so poorly for reliability
Ridiculous thing
I owned an Audi A5 (2011) and it would literally drink 1 litre of oil every days. The piston rings were designed too thin and would wear out. I was spending $18 a day to replenish the engine oil. This issue as fixed in 2012 models up
A4 depend really hard on what engine it is
Moral of the story, every manufacturer had its bad models....
But there are pretty much 2 options for old ones: maintenance nightmare or it doesn't doe ever
some more than others (Cough BMW) .. I will never own a BMW ... omg.....
A big engine BMW is a super wallet swamp
Audi and vw are grouped in there with BMW for me lol
114k miles
duude..my parents have owned BMW's .. VW/Audi are a godsend compared to BMW
yeah I get it, VW is no Toyota, but I would prefer an VW or Audi over a BMW any day
Honestly all 3 VW's i drive/drove absolute dreams in maintenance
Oh working on one is yeah... Pain
In my opinion mercedes is like gm, vag is like ford, and bmw is like mopar
The bmw comparison is definitely there because it has a cult like following even for cars that are complete piles of garbage
hmm
Vag is like ford because they have a gazillion brands and have some really really good cars and really really bad cars
Then mercedes is like gm where they don't really make much that's horrendously shit but they still produce some garbage
There is a reason the "Car Wizard" on youtube sends all BMW's to a poor BMW expert
I honestly don't know what to think about merc
I own an audi and that's enough for me
Like unimog
hmmmm
After this I'm staying away from German cars unless I have money
But also their cars are weird
And you see i kinda wanted like an old early 2000s audi 1.8 convertible
But i like unimog
I wonder sometimes why so many people in the us hate on the jetta which is just a weird golf and europe is like yeah.. golf
Well what classified as domestic for you
Poor car.
My thinking:
VW/Audi are like the toyota of europe, but not quite as reliable.
BMW are just trash, cheap engineering, expensive parts, difficult to service ... avoid at all costs. Especially with big engine models V8+.
Mercedes, ... stick with the smaller engines for reliability. Avoid V8's and larger.... but generally more reliable than BMW power trains.
The alternator on the audi was a front end off job
Its not the jetta itself i dislike, its the way they put it together and the components they use
Oh i heard build quality in the us sucks but components?
Components is a more general term here
But all the plastic shit like i said
Oil dipstick tube
Major parts of the cooling system
I don't remember what the parts were called
Fucking plastic sway bar links
The stuff in the engine bay got brittle af
At that point just don't have a sway bar
omg...plastic fantastic
I'm fine with a plastic interior
if a sway bar is plastic .... it better be fricken premium plastic lol
The electrical connectors on everything are annoying when they are from 2003 and just got brittle and broke in the engine bay
Electronics
The oil dipstick tube just snapped from the slightest pressure
yeah lots of BMW parts are now plastic fantastic
unfortunately cars today are designed to last their warranty ...
Yeah sure let's put plastic, something sensitive to heat, right next to a giant chunk of metal that gets really hot
luckily they cannot use the same tactic on battery electric cars
Great fuckin plan
yeah some ABS plastic pipe next to the exhaust ๐ณ
I'm gonna buy an electric car next time, and avoid all this mechanical plastic BS lol
But then you have to deal with possible battery degradation
Or recalls
Like the volt had for example
Just buy old shit
Either lease the battery, or choose an EV that gives you a 10 year battery warranty
Sure you might have to rebuild an engine here and there or replace a few vital suspension components
But you can't go wrong with an old toyota
Or maybe and old Chevy or Ford
pffttttt .... 40 year old car? hmm
most reliable ICE is probably a 2025 Camry
yeah 80's/90's toyota's and honda's are still going
cheap to maintain
It just crossed 288k last week
nice
Engine could use a rebuild, its not super happy
But still works and has good oil pressure for now
my 93 Honda Civic Si .. after 250 kilometres (155 miles) ... no major issues. I just needed a new distributor and spark plugs ๐
... If you want a reliable 4 banger ... just get a Toyota or Honda
Thats that good shit from Japan that i like
indeed
Damn 250km / 155miles, did it almost survive half a tank?
Jetta is also made to an ever lower standard than the European cars... Made in Mexico, the quality is worse. The Jetta also did bad in Europe because of that reason. The Tiguan Allspace is also made in Mexico (regular Tiguan for the US) and it's less compared to our regular Tiguan
random thought
if I would have choose between CD player and Cassette player in my car, I would rather now have Cassette player
Because you can throw in AUX tapes?
Like mine
and The new DAF trucks had CD radios from 2001 with no aux ports
had to take out of my car
hecc, I can even make it BT
I want to throw BT in my car
I'm using Aliexpress/Alibaba special
gonna build my own infotaiment system
the aftermarket android systems are just so shit for the price
I'm thinking about getting a Bluebus
freaking 400 euros and I'm getting sub par 600p screen with 3 GB of ram
and a cpu from 2017
I rather just have the stock look
I want to free up the clutter
have everything built in and start with my car rather than setting everything up every time I want to drive
using phone for satnav isn't the best idea, since it loves to screw everything and crash when someone call me
I feel like you're one of the only people that I can find that agrees with me
I hate the look of most aftermarket head units
most of them just look crap
You got any car above that plastic?
Same
A lil bit ๐
need a supercharged previa
Aren't those mid-engine?
Yes
Also RWD (or AWD)
And was available with a supercharger
A real supercharger, not those Tesla things
Yes, I know what a roots style belt-driven supercharger is
I'm not one of those people that like electric vehicles
my first oil change (that I did)
Same as the mazda mx 30 for some reason.
Reminds me of the new xpeng p7
i wish that all filters could be that conveniently located ๐ฅฒ
yeah it was very easy
gawd thats ugly ๐
supercar?
Effectively
Yeah its a Chinese car...
Iโm trying to hunt down an example of this fucking relic.
what is that
Looks like a Hot Wheels fucked a Corvette and this was the result
That explains it
It had a 455 olds in it
there was also a v6 offered at some point
It used the engine and transaxle from a toronado
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
kind of seems like they just put whatever engine that they felt like into it

the US models have solid rear axle so the handling is meh

Is it JDM if it's not JDM-only? ๐

@civic spoke so I drove a brand new man few days ago
and it doesn't do that shit when you touch the throttle it goes full throttle for a split second
Volvo only has trouble with pedal to the metal.
Then it can't ever decide if it wants to hold the gear, shift up or shift down.
never had trouble with that
but the old man had that problem
and DAFs I drove
I could floor it on the hill and it would still go on 12th gear till it stalls
What it does is that it changes up and down a whole bunch, without being able to decide what to do.
@fathom socket The law says that you can drive 4:30 right? Then damn it. I'm using all of that time.
I had that issue more with DAF than Volvo
and MAN too
In other words. All of them?
For me it only happens with the foot to the floor, and trying to accelerate.
One thing about this drive that I don't like is that finding a place to park for half an hour sucks.
now I'll be driving Iveco Stralis
Even more so when I know that I'm going to be using most of my driving hours today...
I don't think that I have driven any Ivecos.
I remember 1 hour wasn't enough to find a parking space in germany
but I always ended up looking for a parking space at 1 am
I drove a shitbox eurocargo from 10000 years ago
gearbox was like stirring bunch of bullcrap and 0 feel
could not find 3rd/7th and 4th/8th gears
Canโt you change that setting yourself?
nope
would need go to the dealer I guess
Sometimes you need much power, like going up a steep hill, or on slippery roads
you just stall on the hill and then go on crawling mode
because the dumb truck will put 3rd gear and stall
and you can't change them manually because everything is locked up
Threw in some blankets over the bed.
Helps to keep it clean, and makes it a bit more cozy.
And things don't slide around as easy.
don't you have a net there?
the eurocargo I drove had a net for stuff on the bed

Someone I know of had their E46 318i stolen, how desperate
makes me worry for the 305
My new insurance should have an agreed value which would be enough money to restore the parts car should someone stoop so low to steal a 305
as much as I despise insurance companies
looks way too good for a pink lambo
Lmao
way too clean to be the pink lambo, real one got "decorated" at ltx and then crushed
That threat of no grandchildren lmfao
Australia has weird rules for cars.
wdym
i mean it is australia so dont even get me started tbh ๐
i didnt know there were rules around engine cylinders though
If you are a provisional licence holder, then you are limited to cars with a power of 130 kW per tonne.
Meaning that you can't drive a 1,500 kg car with more than 260 hp. More or less.
well
if that applies to bikes
ive already blown way past that lmao
my firebird is going to have more than that
ls power hehehe
but thats honestly what i mean, australia out here trippin
We have special rules for bike license as well. Have different levels of them.
how does that impact mortified cars
yeahhhhh no
see the normal car license here is basically
everything up to literally a bus
and the bike license is just whether its 2 or 3 wheel
honestly if it were any different it would be pretty horse shit
dealing with the DMV as much as i have is already too much
lol dmv
The joy of just doing everything online
my friend owns like atleast 50 different cars a year if he lived in murica would he have to visit the DMV for each one.
That's dumb
Hell of it is i probably would anyways lmao
Can you just make up a VIN number in a way that it's reasonably difficult to go out of your way and confirm it?
Like dealer or something. If you make up a VIN number that makes sense for year, make, color, whatever else it is that's obvious to the DMV and such, can you actually do it? I'm assuming insider dealer or better yet manufacturer could have a series of VINs that ends production at a certain number. I'm remembering a year portion somebody pointed out to me
Is there like a make/exact unique sku-like retail-level/color portion which I'm assuming about and is the rest of the VIN determined by something along those lines with a remainder being just serial? If so, you should know a a VIN is unique if you know the last serial the same car contains.
Then how hard is it to change the VIN on the actual car? Isn't it tedious as hell?
๐คจ
No
It's impossible to change a vin
It's stamped into many locations on a vehicle
Including being programmed into the pcm
Vins have a checksum so that they cannot be created
Also with the amount of vin lookups it'd get found out immediately
Not to mention that you'd have to forge a title
Which is incredibly illegal
Along with the rest of it
Yeah that's why I was wondering about it. So basically San Andreas spray shop in real life has to be professional auto body shop and you have to etch out and replace more serials than a gun. Then, on top of that, there's no way to get a legit looking VIN in of itself.
So when a car is stolen, it stays stolen. But then again, your inspection usually has the guy check VIN. Or sometimes he asks as well. Then DMV takes paper's word for it. You need to create a history for it as well, true. That's basically the same step as making a new VIN I guess.
At this point it might be easier to fake your identity as owner lol
You also get title to house in addition to car
What?
It's impossible to make a stolen car legit
Essentially yeah, unless you find the original owner. Going through the process of forging a VIN and title is just so much work itโs almost not worth it. Thereโs some people who restore ancient cars but didnโt have a vin/title so it can never be road legal
Well at least you can go through a process here to make a no title vehicle titled again
But it's basically a bonded title for like 5 years and the owner of the actual title can come forward and claim the vehicle if they want it
True, most cases itโs rare but can really bite you in the ass
Well yes and no
It can be done but it isn't worth it
You can swap vin plates under the windshield but it's incredibly illegal
I know guys that have done it on cars with lost titles before
The brakes on my peugeot 307 are so weak
Idk why.
Pads are still OK, rotors are in oj shape and it's still in spec
Yet after anjusting my handbrake it rolls down hill at max tension
So depending on what way you park it put it in revers or 1st so the transmission catches it
The problem is less about parking, and more about going up hill from stand still
My handbrake is also potato quality.
I had a bunch of issues with the truck today. But intermittent ones.
When all of the warning lights go out, ABS and all of that. When it's 'normal'.
Then the transmission flips out, and won't change gears as it should.
Coming from a stop, then it will stay in 3rd gear, and rev the snot out of the engine.
It will sometimes even change down to a lower gear, again, rev the snot out of the engine...
When I say truck, I mean an HGV, or whatever you want to call it.
It's a Volvo FE320. 2016 year model.

They cut through traffic to get to the exit. But uhh, the exit was jammed.
So they got stuck between a rock and a hard place.

honestly I feel like this backronim fits more to my Peugeot than Ford
as in everyday something breaks
Ok so I'm looking at old golfs
It's a non-alcoholic beverage.
and a lot of them have 'rear suspension arm corroded' or similar in the MoTs
how bad is that? Is it expensive to fix?
It depends. Labor is the bigger cost, since they will likely want to do an alignment after you swapped it out as well.
I'll try and avoid any Golfs with that issue
Another one here that says the 'offisdie front outer drive shaft joint constant velocity boot is severely deteriorated' -- garage claims they've inspected it and can't see anything, but it doesn't look like they've got a receipt for it being fixed
Right
probably not that expensive a part
and not that difficult to fix
but might be expensive because they'll want to do a full alignment after, so a lot of labour
this, by the way, is the most specific thing I've ever seen described!
nine word descriptor
alot of testers advise for corrosion on suspension parts many years before it will be anything to speak of
Oof
Niw I need to remove it
And I'll wrap it in some black vinil
It ate the thing when I wanted to close it
Or I'll just put some loosely for now
Since I need like 3 days to do this
And good weather
If you don't care about the looks... staple it back?
The One Piece is real!
I want to replace the broken handle on the tool box for the truck...
It be brake day for the 275k mile denali
About $500 per upper control arm on the dakota
With labor
Plus alignment
Just for a comparison
Oh you're in Europe
ayo i got a question what do you guys think about a e36 328i automatic with 200k miles that runs and drives no major mechanical issues, good body for 2k usd?
Ehhhhhhh
Not a bad price but I'd be prepared to work on it
yeee, i plan on doing the work myself so i'd be fine with that
Sounds fairly good. But will likely require a lot of on-going maintenance to keep it on the road.
yeee, willing to keep up with it ill probably be keeping it a while
its a green sedan
which i want sedan because 4 doors better for me

Guys quick question, itโs been like 6 month since I got my tires rotated and I assume the dealership torqued it over the Max limit. However, I want to practice changing a tire. Is it a bad idea to have 3 tires torqued higher than 1?
Iโm just taking it ะพff, putting a spare on, then putting the original back, but at 76ft/lb like my manual says
Could always just retorque all corners. No need to actually remove the wheels to do that.
And if you want to practice doing a tire change, then you can just remove the tire, and put it back on again. No need to put on the spare.
But still good to check that you have all equipment required for a tire change.
I doubt that a dealer would do that
And also torquing the wheels is good practice but I don't do it on my own stuff half of the time
dealerships are pretty bad from what Iโve heard
Usually they'll follow the correct service procedure
Price wise they're horrible though
And time wise
They take a lot longer than private shops in my experience
I really donโt want to do the other tires since I have to remove the hub caps and theyโre fragile, to even get access to the lug nuts
My dealership just depends cuz sometimes theyโre fast and sometimes theyโre slow, and I just go there for the free stuff for my car, Iโll do stuff on my own once they expire
The worst places are usually the tire dealers.
Other company I worked at used one, and they swapped between summer and winter tires.
The nuts were so stuck that the air impact couldn't remove it.
Guy had to bring out a long-ass breaker bar.
Sounds like you didn't have a 3/4" drive air impact
Every good mechanic should have at least 3 of those
Even if they dont work
I don't know, it wasn't me who did it, I had to call the tire shop to come out and swap out the punctured tire.
My main impact is a milwaukee compact 3/8" drive and it does basically anything you could need to do on a regular duty vehicle
Except maybe crank bolts and stuff like that
Jeez I hope my battery 1/2โ impact can remove lug nuts, I bought it just for this occasion, but 650ft/lb breakaway torque should be more than enough and specifically since my dad never does maintenance on his car so I started doing everything for him
But you shouldn't be impacting crank bolts anyways
I couldn't remove it while jumping to try and get the nuts off.
How long is your breaker bar
That one wasn't a long one, just whatever was available in the car for doing the emergency changes.
So I guess a foot?
Maybe a bit more.
Thats why jack handles exist
Oh that isn't very much
But you prob didn't have one with you
I've been meaning to get a 1/2" drive milwaukee
But still. 75 kg jumping on that is a lot of torque.
Especially now that I have the f350
For the fuel version
The only one that's worth it
yee
The non fuel isn't worth it
HOLY SHIT
Never seen one?
Same
It's a big impact. Goes pretty slow, but lots of weight behind it.
What are the advertised specs
Trying to find them.
thankfully my wheels are on and off enough generally so they don't seize up.
Didnt have a spare for a while which with my luck is risky but fixed with a tyre sling for a mercedes sprinter
I'm probably going to start buying some snap-on stuff in the spring and summer
Up to 3000 Nm
The sears craftsman set has served me well but the low tooth count hurts
1,1 kW 400v 3-phase
That's only like 200lbs-ft more than the milwaukee
The design is like 70+ years old at this point.
always take the numbers with a grain of salt
That the non-fuel version of the 1/2 inch impact?
having to heat it and smack it aswell, was just lifting the car up heh
rip
It isn't milwaukee
Just noticed that
oh I misunderstood
yeah im too cheap for that shit
einhell
one hell of a piece of shit
Yeah
I have a pile of shit Ryobi impact wrench that wont even take 4-wheeler lug nuts off
Yet my dads Milwaukee version of it takes them right off
mines can do that fine its actually alright
paranoid about my spare wheel carrier vibrating loose and dumping my spare wheel on the motorway
It held up by a bolt?
yeah
Crank on it with the impact and it should be fine
cant do that as will just bend the carrier
Blue loctite
What is that? Rebar?
I wouldn't be trusting it anyway with the amount of rust holes in that trunk floor
Man, am I happy to live in a place where we don't have rust problems and don't have inspections
Works out well for me as gives cheap access to cars
Sometimes its annoying failing on some bs which isnt even dangerous
Inspections are generally a good thing
If you worry about your car not passing inspection, it shouldn't be on the road
It's the bare minimum of safety it requires
most of us fail every year heh

the time of year of actually having to fix your car
Thankfully all my MOTs are in summer
or not thankfully
I get why part of the reason it failed was because of the rear being rusted to shit, the brakes being worn out, and the wheel bearings being worn, but when was the last time you had to use the horn?
Well mine failed also ... Because the rear indicators were showing some white beams while they're only allowed to be amber or red
But that's like a 2โฌ fix
Honestly the horn worked then died as the MOT tester pressed it
rip
Classic
Its got some moped sounding horn on it now
we had a civic that would conveniently turn its ABS light off around the month of the inspection then go on the rest of the year
I would say something about my Ranger, but as soon as I do, something is going to break
Its like it knew you didn't want to fix it
The tester I use for my MOTs is definitely at the lenient end.
Used to have a very lenient place but under new management : (
I dont personally see the issue with holy outer sills but the rules are the rules
Very lenient MOT
lenient to normaish MOT
1 year apart
holy mother of frame rust
I wanted to buy a 24v 2000 watt inverter for my truck
but holy fuck, they are expensive
I have rust problems and no inspections
You ever seen a truck bent in half going down the road?
This is the most rust that isn't surface rust you will find where I live (California). That is 25 years worth of battery acid that has been eating at this battery tray
And this is on a 1996 Chevy Pickup that mostly sits
Nope
Oh, dang. The last Boeing 747 has rolled off the assembly line now. Over 50 years of production.
Truly the trabant of the skies
Ignoring the fairly dramatic and extreme changes over the years
My grandma is having the time of her life down in florida right now
She saw another one as she was going to her hotel last night
These cars give me anxiety
that thing is clapped
the bumper is missing, turn signal is missing, paint is horrible, needs tires, most likely leaks a ton, has a bad interior, etc.
i would advise saving a little bit more for a nicer car personally
Ah okie thatโs fair
after fiddling with the eq and settings for the past few days I think I finally perfected it
might need a little more detail on the high end but itโs good
one lb ft for every rpm
it starts at 1100 lb ft at 500 rpm
methanol is one hell of a drug i tell you hwhat
Auto e36 bad
They have a junk gm 4l30e stay away from em
My e36s auto shit the bed at 153k. A very well maintained 153k
okay, what do yall think about 1957 Chevy Bel-Airs
Friend of mine is building a Chevrolet 150 ... it's a nice car
Bel-air just have more chrome than the 150
Kinda "cheap" to build since they were quite popular
Also it's surprisingly not that heavy of a car and can be fitted with modern engine, drivetrain and suspension if you want to.
yeah, tbh i don't know much about them specifically, but ive seen a fair amount of em and just love them so much lol. Absolutely beautiful cars in my opinion. If I had any choice of a car it would be one of those
car
took it on a 3000 mile road trip earlier in the year and the battery cables gave up 13 hours in
still runs like a champ
If I ever get a Volvo I'll definitely put on that moose badge
get a clover too
so it doesnt explode
also have an old one
Nice, love those old bricks
240s kinda suck but hipsters have made the prices outrageous again

why these sound like motorcycles?

Are there 3 seater Euro 5 pickup "trucks" that isn't like delivery van sold in EU?
Wait what?
You want a 3 seats Euro 5+ vehicle which isn't a van
But a pick-up truck is allowed
Did you mean that?
Ye
I mean there are havicles like a transporter iveco daily or something with a bed
But if something like this exists here
the mazda miata is so hot. Never in the history of automotive technology has there been a hotter car. it is more than a car to me, it is a person. it is a little tease but its's basically my wife. The designer know what they did with that car. The aesthetic paired with its headlights make it such an attractive car. Nothing gets me going better than a small cramped sports car with pop up headlights. Every inch of it is so hot. its wheels up to its interior and it headlights. Every inch of it is perfection incarnate. I would stop driving it on a busy highway just to feel the intimacy between us. I crave more than lustful fantasies with it, I seek deep romantic involvement. The craftsmanship of its shell surpasses everything I expected from mazda. its revving and interior formats and its looks. The choice of color with red or a deep blue show its beautiful wheels and complements its black droptop roof and more. it is my wife, and nothing dissuades me from this
do even a reputable brand PD3.0 car chargers exist?
What kind of output do you need?
a 45 watt one for a steam deck
The Car Charger Arc.SA outputs offer fast charging capabilities for power that goes wherever you go. Charge on the way to your destination. We've got you covered. Shop now.
do they ship in european onion?
No idea. But it appears that I can buy them here in Sweden, at least. Check around locally.
all I find are something I had melt
so I did check and the only things I get are off-brands
A general problem that I have checking with chargers is just the whole "This charger is 45W!" (Pst. It's actually just 30+15W)
I found one that has a 100 watt output from a brand that has some reputation
but it's sold only in Poland
yes
I mean technically it can charge from regular phone charger
but it won't charge if I want to play on it unless it's 45 watts
finally
found this buried
How much do carburated v8 engines go for
All depends on the engine. If it's a scrapyard engine, crate engine, or whatever.
Not to mention that the engine really isn't dictated by the carb.
It's kind of like asking "How much do N/A cars go for?"
As it all depends.
door fell off into my hands today ๐ฟ
Got nice tyres on the front though now
would prefer proper winters but all sneezons are better than nothing and free so
Opinions on MG
Expect that somebody did repairs on it
Donโt expect the repairs to have been done proper
Ah I meant the EV range. Looking to buy one
This is the all-new MG4! Matโs got his hands on this family-friendly EV, and heโs about to see if it can compete with class leaders such as the Volkswagen ID.3 and Cupra Born.
For starters, it looks great from the outside! Top-of-the-range models get a smart light bar around the back and a cool roof spoiler. Whatโs more, they also come with a ...
I think it's hideous
Specs are alright
Especially for the price
Wouldn't really want a Chinese car tho
My cousin bought an Marvel R and thinks it's the best car in the world and that he is better than everyone else
Which is an okay car again for the price but many things are just not like you'd expect them, or like mistakes in the design process which you wouldn't find with for example a European car manufacturer
Although that might exclude VW's ID-range as that's 100% an ergonomics failure
I like it, reasonably priced and it has good features. I love the way it looks, it's different from all other EVs
Have you taken a look at the Chevy EUV? It's probably the most boring looking electric car out there, but it's feature rich and well priced. Only downside is it's charging rate, it isn't slow by any means, just not up to par to the rest of the market
Don't think any Chevy is available on markets where the MG 4 is
Also, I'd like to differentiate here between a state-owned company like SAIC vs a privately-owned company like Geely. I wouldn't really want a state-owned company Chinese car
German quality ๐ค
Well that's just VW things ๐
Also I'm not really talking about reliability stuff, but more like some odd design choices on the interior for example
I forget the classic peugeot parts specialist doesent work mondays ๐ฟ
And don't forget the check engine light and the ecu failure.
Think even with my shite ive had one check engine light for a vacuum leak
Again, more VW things
That's one modern looking door handle
Wait that's actually how they looked? Why did they ever go back to those black plastic doorhandles on the 306/405/... ?!
yeah
306
Convertible I think because our Break (Wagon) had the power window controls in the center console iirc
Or was that just the power mirror controls
505
Ah no that's a Peugeot 206 thing
Some weird design thing on the 306 Break I never understood... the rear speakers were in the tailgate lol
So if you filled up the boot they were entirely blocked so you couldn't hear a thing
That's slightly better, that's still in the cabin
I think its actually too povvo spec for front speakers cant remember
I believe those are the only speakers
way too many electrical things going on here heh
Lol that's a weird choice lol, you'd expect only front speakers and the rear to be optional
There was a more basic version with no radio, and dials for the HVAC system
But for the time that was very modern to have it like that
got different colours for each line

this is the best car
Disagree
The battery is fine, but sometimes little difficult to start the vehicle.
What side effect if the engine oil dirty?
Italians are the worst
Like I'm going minding my business and someone decides it will be a fucking good idea to overtake on a left turn where they can't see anything coming towards them
It was bad idea if someone overtake when turn, the worst are the vehicle will crash
I have no idea why people so confident with their decisions like that
In to me
That actually looks nice
Exactly
I would just get it changed
And when it's hard to start is it when it's cold or warm
First start, around 80โฐC(176โฐF)
Like cold start
So it's hard to start when cold or hot? The temperature you just said sounds like when it's warm but you're saying cold
Like both of them, even the engine hot or cold it's still difficult to start
Do you have a video?
No i didn't, but when i start the car there's is like pause
We participate in a wee bit of tomfoolery

Is that a French license plate?
Italian
Oh
How much does it cost to obtain such a unit ๐ณ
And what kind of taxes does the government demand for ownership of such a vehicle.
I think it depends per country, but commercial vehicles aren't taxed that heavy usually
In ๐ณ๐ฑ it depends on the amount of axles and the Euro-rating, Euro 6 is โฌ750-1250 per year
Euro 0 is โฌ1400-2400
Which isn't too bad if you consider a 1300kg diesel car is taxed at โฌ1400/year
Still better than owning a car privately in the Netherlands
Wait till you see how much money the government steals from people owning a car in Austria. ๐
Probably less than in ๐ณ๐ฑ
