Fair point the 335i e9x isn't that great reliability wise right ? My brother used to own a e92 330i and it was great he sold it because the fuel consumption was too high. The only thing he didn't like was the fact that it was an automatic and not a manual and i can understand him. The automatic in that car didn't react that fast if he didn't have it sport mode. Which made the car to sluggish on "comfort" mode and to harsh on sports mode.

The year is 2040.
BMW has just released the X11, a five row SUV with a base price of $2.5 million. 30 inch wheels come standard with a $14,000 option to upgrade to 34inch “M-sport appearance” wheels. This is actually considered a compact SUV in the market which BMW refers to as an “eight-door coupe” in their marketing material. Under the hood is a 0.4 liter V2 making 1400hp with a seven scroll single turbo and an electric drivetrain that adds 869lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. Customers are required to log in with their social security number and retina scan to start the engine. Due to autonomous driving, the steering wheel is still in place, but functions as a giant iDrive knob to scroll through the menus on the 65 inch infotainment screen that has replaced the windshield. For crash safety purposes, the only glass in the whole car is a panoramic sunroof made of bullet proof glass that only opens a quarter inch as long as the car is traveling under 30mph, above which it is federally mandated to close. The gas and brake pedal are no longer functional and now control the brightness and color of the ambient lighting. There are 18 zones of climate in the car, but heated seats are only standard in the first and fourth row. Since the leather ban of 2027, manufacturers have been forced to switch to a composite cloth
material that is grown in a laboratory from bovine stem cells.
As my X11 leaves the dealership lot, I am forced to whisper to my wife to avoid being heard by the mandatory virtual assistant that is eagerly listening at all times for marketing information that will be sent back to BMW and sold to the government. After swiping my credit card in the built-in card reader in the dash to allow the car to drive directly to my house instead of taking me to McDonalds first for a 15 minute advertising session, I peer through the crack in the sunroof that has opened at a red light. I sit back in my chair and think to myself,
“This is the Ultimate Driving Machine.”

brittle totem
stoic ledge
# wraith rivet Anyone know why when I manually turned my headlights to on there was just a ring...

That's normal, it's like that in any car.

Usually light switches work like this:
0) Off

  1. Auto
  2. Parking Lights/City Lights
  3. Low beam

On cars with auto headlights, a full "off" mode might not even be there, of course on cars without auto headlights the auto setting isn't there 😛

When you put it on the 1st setting just the parking/city Lights went on. This is a setting you usually never use while driving. You always have to put it on the 2nd mode, low beam, which is the same mode the auto lights turn it on

You can also turn on the parking lights on one side of the car. Usually, you do this by turning off the car, and then select left/right with the indicator stalk to turn on the parking lights on the left/right. You can use this in unlit area's to make your car more visible in the dark. These lights are usually low wattage (for halogen, like 5W vs 55W for the low beam) so it won't drain the battery like crazy

#

An advantage of when you drove around with the parking/city lights on... The rear lights were also on, which usually isn't the case with DRL

#

Ngl, surprised you didn't learn that in drivers ed/drivers theory book/...

stoic ledge
# brittle totem Very smart dealer right there so they basically paid you 3,5k to keep the car ?

Yeah, they kind of low-balled him in the first place, but he was like "you can have it for the same price". Then I contacted the dealer as it needed a transmission service, told them "Nothing else as I'm selling the car", and they were like "Oh but we can also make you an offer for it". E-mailed some pics, they got back to me later with the 3.5k higher offer (they probably still had the car in the system). They really wanted it as there is still a shortage in cars, and it was an easy sell

Ngl, it was gone rather quickly, they also made a nice profit. I could've sold it for more if I did the work myself, but this was low risk/low work, and still a nice reward
