It was not stressful at all drving at the higway knowing that the nearest gas station was like 15km away when the car stated that their was 0km left until empty.

My newer Volvos would, on average, get about 5KM out of that (assuming they could properly empty the tank, and I doubt that)

So I hade like 60km to my distance and the car told me that it hade 85km left until empty so I thought that I just could refuel when I hade arrived but that was not the case. I still hade 25km left until my distance when i stopped for my refuel with 0,56l left in the tank.

My dad used to fill from the top, he drove 300km and filled up. Learning out of that habit took some time, not that it necessarily makes any difference, but having a full tank when I was studying certainly felt like I had a lot of money just sitting there for no reason

I haven't gathered that much good data last year, but in general they have been north of 10L/100KM ._. My 850 did 8,4 mixed, and solid numbers on longer trips

A full tank with diesel in my dads Passat was like 1850 SEK when the diesel was at its peak price.

I was with my brother at his work they where testing some of their new tuning parts that the have developed during spring and they where stock in transport somewhere in germany during the whole summer so they need to do all of their final testing before putting them out for sale before it gets to cold outside. That golf has a bit over 500hp to get a since of how fast that Volvo really where.

I had my 850 for over eight years. I loaned it to family, got it back with broken windshield (a wiper arm had clearly been slammed on it without a blade, the mark was obvious, but they admitted nothing), it was broken in three pieces much in Mercedes Benz -logo way. New windshield could be just ~200€, but the cigarette smoke nailed it. Thinking about it still makes me sick. They had clearly smoked in it without the car running. I spent hours cleaning it with no luck. None of my dad's cars ever smelled that bad (I used to clean them too). It was ugly and worn out and everything, but I'm still mad that someone else killed the car for me. It always took me home, it always started, it was damn reliable car.

I had 170hp manual 850, I thought I wanted more. I got 200hp automatic V70, I thought I wanted more. I got 235hp manual V70. I realized I actually want lazy. I have no idea how those drag races work, when I want to go fast with my manual the fact it's manual commands way too much of my attention. With automatic I just... go fast. The car handles the bothersome part.

I hated my 3.0 TDI auto, I'm fairly sure I would've done a way better job at accelerating and changing gears than the auto box

The golf is automatic and the volco was of course manual so even more impressive for the volvo that it could keep up with the golf. But the launch contol didnt work on golf becuse it hasent been repogrammed for the tune that the car has.

Stahp. I got 1999 V70 because it was supposed to just be a minor uplift (it still mostly is, it just has the same terrible electronic throttle body soap bar Volvos do. But other than the engine it's still very simple, not that that matters much at that point ._.

Yeah they where basically not worth anything for quite while in Sweden so many People bought them as winter cars just the have a car during winter that they didnt care about and then scrapped it when they where done with it. Older cars with automatic gear boxes used to be slower then manual ones and they used to have bit of an higher fuel consumption but all cars after like 2005 is in most cases better then the manual one. And then it just up to personal preference what you like the most.

So i tried to get launch control to work but it didnt seem to work or i did something wrong. But still not bad resualts for an f45 with 2.0l turbo. And it was on wet road and no wheel spin at all so I guess that xDrive worked as it should at least.

That doesnt even pop on the 225i dont know way it litterly has a whole page in the manual for it. But I still can't get it to work. But I think that I still managed to come pretty close to that claimed BMW time of 6,3 sec fron 0-100km/h even on a wet road.

Have you tried it on dry roads ?

Drove it for like 35 mins before so that should not be the problem. It gets up optimal operating temperatures after like 5-10mins of driving depending on how cold it is out side.

but like difference between 18-23c

made engine overcoold to 70c and overheat to 116c

Then you'd have low temps while driving.

Finally had time to thoroughly clean my new car. 2002 Volvo celebrated 75 years of existence, and that car has a few badges commemorating that, but I only found 70 cents (also that has to be the lowest yield so far, there's usually a few euros (or kronor) under/between the seats. Clearly I got cheated!

(Worst decision Volvo has ever done must be the reduction of manual exterior locks. 850 had three, all three of my V70s each have just one. And then they went and designed a lock that inevitably fails, making it so you can only get in if you have the remote and power)

That's true. In Sweden the the 1er is classified as an midsize family car.. Witch its defiantly not can you even get a baby seat in the rear and and have a comfortable driving position in front.

BMW were most known as "family car" that are fun, comfort are second after all.

Cant really agree with that my brothers old 325i with the full m sport package was still more comfortable then my dads 2021 Passat and that car has great comfort but lacks the "sporty" feeling and is not nearly as fun as drive as my brother 325i E92.

And the passat has "Great quality" too.

My dad was "forced" to choose a well equipped Passat or Volvo v60 base. We where looking on a SuperB and and cupra formentor to. But the superb where over 40k so that didn't work out and the Formentor with 310Hp engine hade wait time of like 1 year at that time. Witch was a bit sad to Formentor would have been a such a fun car.

The iDrive on my moms car is way less distractive then most system's I have tested. Specially the one in my dads Passat that one is so dam slow and over complected. Like you need to trough like 4 different menus to just turn of traction control or lane assist.
