So they actually have laws against drive when tired?
Yes why wouldn't it be its super dangerous thing to do.
How do they find out people that are tired tho?
Smooth, more comfortable as the E91, but that was M-Sport which was too hard tbh, still needs to find a proper seating position tho, it is tight inside. Too tight for me ngl
Good question the probably follow the driver for a while and se how the person is driving and if they are "wobble" around in the lane witch you usually do when you are tired or drunk.
Yeah and the cheapest cars on that ferry was like 250k and most of them where over 2-3 million before tax they are probably worth more now.
The ferry i was on iirc had 3 levels of just trucks and there were like 3-x the trucks per floor
+2floors of regular vehicles
How much trucks cost all depends on what trucks they are.
Normal tractors are fairly cheap.
Swedish emission tax logics Koenigsegg CCR 2005 2199 SEK per year. Volkswagen Passat 2021 8242 SEK yearly for the first 3 years and then 3744 a year.
Generally speaking it was like on avg 3 year old tractors with larger sleeper cab
A tridem Volvo FH with a hooklift and a decent crane can easily fetch towards the 4,000,000 kr mark. So like €400k
Doesn't seems effective but they tried and sent messages.
But it was a ferry to Ireland
400k km, just broken in
How long does a truck usually last in terms of km ?
All depends on what it does. But if a company is buying new trucks for use. Then they generally just use them for about 6 years or so.
How long have the usually done before they get scraped ?
Not sure. Most of the trucks that I have driven have more or less all been below 500,000 km's.
And that's for like 10 year old trucks.
For the dump truck that I picked up off the lot with <100 km's on it. Then it had 50,000+ km's on it after 10 months.
Does that mean that those 2019 trucks for sale is almost done for already ?
I wouldn't say that. But many companies just don't like keeping trucks with too high of a mileage around. Extra servicing and the like.
it seems most of the truck had around that many km on them in my first company
around the same age
the one that I drove had almost 1 milion Km on it
but it old
Dude I bought this game for my son and I to play
I think it depends with those trucks, the ones you dee there were probably leased for 3 years or something, but often when companies actually buy them they use them for 10+ years, so 1.5M kilometers isn't that odd
But then they're often quite finished
But the 1er is m sport to right or was the m sport steering wheel not installed from factory ?
Steering wheel is from the factory and is M-Sport, but the trim is a Sportline not an M-Sport. So it has the standard bumpers and standard suspension
M-Sport steering wheel is on the equipment list
they buy them out, but they use it for netherlands section of company
Who?
Heisterkamp
They leaise trucks in poland then they buy for NL division
and they are usually in really bad conditions
Okay that's an unusual thing to spec from factory. How good is the fuel economy on the 116i ?
They do many things apparently... See also leasing, rental, selling used and everything
Probably also didn't like the stock steeringwheel
Don't think it's a crazy expensive option, like 250€?
Fuel economy not sure, haven't refueled it yet
Never saw them in Italy, but I saw a rental truck there

But when I was going trough Germany I saw a couple
I used to work there, it's not a bad company
But it's too much e weeks at work and I have to drive there 2000 km
Yeah that is the worst thing with my moms car the m sport one would have been so much nicer then this.
But at least we don't need to worry about the steering wheel getting stolen witch is kind normal thing for the m sport one.
tasty
I honestly think of all the german cars, BMW has the best wheels. Mercedes second, Porsche/Audi last.
In my opinion all the non m sport steering wheel has been kind of meh on all of the BMW generation until this day.
I mean you were close you were on wheels at least 😂
I like the rims on my E46, at least.
I like the wheels on my wifes X1, they're sick
And then I just slapped on some PS5 tires on 'em.
Luckily this one has alarm class 3 so hopefully no sequel to the E91 story
E39/e46 msport moment
Ahh, I didn't see the stitching. I have the same wheel in my e39 with black stitching
Yeah is actually a CSL wheel
Here is the factory rims for my moms f45 i guess they are decent for a non m sport car.
Did not know that. I'm new to bmw, I've had old shitty Toyotas for years
they look like 13s lol
Yeah I had a 330 ZHP/Sport wheel
and when I figured out it fit, I bought a brand new OE E46 M3 CSL wheel/trim
Sport Line I think
I wanna get these wheels for my ND https://blog.demon-tweeks.com/performance/first-look-team-dynamics-pro-race-lt-wheel/
We’re excited to show you the latest wheel from the power houses of British Touring Cars, Team Dynamics Motorsport. They’re well acquainted with getting the best out of their cars on track and have been developing a new wheel, bringing the latest in technology, design and manufacturing processes together to produce a motorsport inspired alloy…
I just ordered this for my E30
Hopefully not but 2 BMW 330 f30 got their steering wheels stolen like 1km from where I live and both hade the factory theft alarm.
Yes it has the sport lines package/trim. and I guess those are the standard rims them. Because a 67 year old Norwegian guy would probably not pay extra for bigger rims.
My F30 is a sport line, it has 18"s that are not terrible, but they only just fit over my BBK
Don't mind the mud google maps decide t hat highways is for peasants and muddy gravel roads are the better choice ended up driving for like 20 mins on that road only to be stopped buy a roadblock at the end.
Like factory
M Performance BBK
So 370mm
stock m sport is only 340mm
"M Sport Track brakes" were 340mm i mean
So those rims are factory Sportline's ones ?
Yes Style 397
on F30
Stock brakes under those were typically 312mm, boo
I did break work on a pre lci f30 with the smaller breaks and that thing stoped pretty good so that has to be fucking nuts
Yes it is ridiculous
It's a 14.5" rotor
There rears are 345mm lol
Looks really good for factory Sportline's I thought that those where m sport wheels.
Those are the stock sportlines
Yeah I had a base rotor car in my shop and that thing grabbed harder than I expected for doing a pad slap on cheapo material for a lease return
Yeah they brake really well
The weirdest part about putting the brakes on was that I had to code the car for it. Apparently the ABS module has a bias valve, etc. that adjusts based on the package/etc.
Prior to coding the car for the brakes the pedal was super mushy even with proper bleeding
Coded the car, right back to normal. Super weird.
I guess it's so they don't have to have separate master cylinders like the older cars didd.
Yeah I think those are the standard Sport Line wheels for the 2AT
This is probably the ugliest rims I have seen on car that has been an optional one for a extra cost. And the sales man at Volkswagen recommended those to my dad when he was specing out his new company car.
Not a fan no
This is my project, and having a big sedan with tiny breaks with ceramic material instead of semi metallic it does not like to stop as. Being I'm manual swapped so I can just clutch in helps but man I need big breaks
Here I am building a 2500 lb car with like 450 rwhp lol
Most cars do, even the electric assisted ones. It's just cheaper and less complicated
Well these aren't assisted electrically, they're still hydraulic, but there is a variable programmable proportioning valve
And they where pretty expensive to I think they where like 16995 SEK to and the ones that he ended up choosing was included with the r line exterior package and they look so much better to.
4000lb and maybe 400hp because im doing nothing besides slapping bigger injectors on it, a gte head gasket, whatever turbo I get and an apexi neo if it has scary afr's 😂
fat boi
That's actually sick
my E34 has about 900 rwhp and comes in around 3450
Jfc
But it has 14" wilwood 6 pistons on it
I was gonna go off the walls with my gs but I kinda lost the motivation for it so I'm just gonna slam it into a wall at a drift event at a track near me
If it survives long enough make turbo jz noises
ugh yeah, those looks terrible
Mazda has something similar as an upgrade, also very ugly
ewhhh
2.2 k for that
Could get BBS wheels for 1.3k
I've had awful luck with my car so I'm like eh. I had a tick when I bought it first jz kicked a rod through the block, 2nd one was a junkyard motor that was overheated to failure before I got it and I couldn't tell, 3rd one car chucked a ball joint and it's been 4 months and I have not touched it
"Building" the saab to have 300hp
All of this while still being na
Fwd peels
You scare me
It feels like a supercar to me with its 130hp
My daily driver is an old diesel with 50hp
I drove a 9-3 5 hours for my buddy, he has probably the nicest saab I have ever seen but there's nothing about that car that screams yes this is a good@platform
Actually no I can't say that, the v6 turbo has the power band of an ls while having 2 less cylinders
Ah later one
It's the gen after I think, the weird cobalt one
Yes
The bump steer in that car is insane
But holy shit does it haul ass for being a gm econobox with just a tune
I worked for a Jaguar/Saab dealer in highschool - Saabs are garbage
B204's a great engine though
but you need to put the car in reverse to remove thekey
and the key is.... at the shifter
tragic
What
its all so fuck
I like it, means I dont have to leave my key in to unlock the steering
then leave the unit without the key to re-enter said unit
Yeah the center key absolutely fucked me up
its horrid
I dont really see any disadvantages to it
It's goofy as fuck, that's all I got to say about it
Very known truck rental company from Oldenzaal
I like it though, my mum would always ask if my car is in gear but in this case im like "I literally cant have the key if its not in gear"
I like parking out of gear so that would drive me insane
I dont see why you would do that
Fuck it we ball
We had a neighbours toyota corolla coroll our fence down due to a handbrake failure
corolla was fine
I used to work there
but mostly from Gent tho
I like to tempt fate, I also park on flat ground most of the time
Have you also worked for Rotra/Keuhne+Nagel (Doesburg), Mainfreight ('s Heerenberg), Rabelink (Wehl, Doetinchem) or Gesink (Zelhem) @fathom socket ?
I'm also an ape, I just drop the clutch after I start the car
I worked mostly for UK companies
and ireland
Until Brexit or still?
when I had 2 cars at home parked like this I did the first and only start in gear mistake
didnt hit luckily
caffrey international, BMW, DHL, AGI global
they gave me a truck with 16k km on it
Dachser?
I only did these
that livery makes the truck look like it's from early 2000's
Never heard of AGI and Caffrey
I see a lot of them in Germany
alltrough their HQ is a disaster
then I have moved to Italy and worked for 2 companies, but didn't really go that great
Breaking: apple car to have 70kWh battery, 307 mile range, 0-60 3.7s, 350kW charging, start at $65,000
Park on hills in gear only become, ungovernable
often had cars with fucked handbrakes
I have only worked for 2 days at a transport company (Transmission) as a sorter. I hated it
here's the trailer I had from them
My friend with a BMW had his like backplate break under the pressure of the handbrake shoe springs causing chaos inside his disc
~~stolen from some poor chad on deviantart ~~
this one has a funi name
Funny enough I've had working handbreaks in all of my manual cars. Every car with an auto I've had has had fucked handbreaks
I wore the saabs down trying to fit in with the RWD cars in winter
i30 actuator rusted solid despite being used
it's sadly long gone
In the us we have a trucking company called SWIFT, and there's a joke that swift is an acronym for see what I fucked up today because they are always crashed
@fathom socket
I believe it, snow sucks
I've been paid more or less at the lasty company
noh its great
I hate it
Heisterkamp paid even less
roads are empty here when it gets really bad so if you have winter tyres you can have it all to yourself
end up backwards into a ditch never to be found for 2 weeks
By the law, a worker should have a minimum wage of €10,13 a hour
by law in italy the minimal wage in Italy is 1800 euro per month for truck drivers
they have been underpaying me
Yeah the ones that he choosed was way better for no additional cost. They are a bit dirty right now but you chould get the point.
Yeah, much better
I am the opposite, I live near nyc. So people usally still have to go to work and such when it gets really bad and people start getting stuck and you just end up with more traffic. New York and New Jersey drivers get more impatient the closer you get to the city
@brittle totem the fuel consumption according to the car is 8L/100km
But idk how accurate that is
In my moms 225i xDrive the average consumption is like 7,8l/100km since she bought in January last year.
my saab is up to like 14l/100km 🗿
No long journeys in it since I got the 305, just the B road to the unit.
it gets like 7.5l/100km if you drive it smoothly at 50mph
This is the lowest i have ever achived in my dads car. But I dont trust it that much becuse it is still a Volkswagen.
I need to start recording fill ups in the 305
I know it sips fuel because I do hundreds of miles and barely ever fill it
I've averages about 6.2-6.4l/100km over the past 6000 km in my ND
Can do 5L/100km if I don't hoon it every chance I get
Best I've done in a one hour mixed road drive was 4.8L/100km
Yeah so idk how accurate it is, we'll see soon enough, it came with half a tank of fuel 🤑
I also need to fix the odometer / speedo in the 305 for that heh, but could use my GPS speedo recorded distance.
If it's 8L/100km it's a lot worse than the Volvo but ofc diesel
the odometer is broken? lol
speedo cable got lost in the dash when I replaced the engine, not bothered to reinsert it
You just listen to the sound of it spinning to know how fast you are going
Good thing is that my dad doesn't pay for diesel just the distance that we drive it privately and it converts to around 1€ per liter in fuel cost for him privately because his policy is super outdated and is from when he git his first company car in 2008.
my dad used to have a fuel card shite at his old job
and a lovely gold mk3 mondeo, ages ago
Yeah my dad has the same thing but he just need to pay a little more tax to be able to drive it privately but its still super cheap compared to buying a car privately.
I do find it funny how the 305's nasty diesel exhaust is pointed right at people on the pavement.
no chill
Not the case with the new Passat it twin fake exhaust on both sites witch looks really bad and the real one hided under them.
From factory to ?
sort of, mine is tilted a little more as im missing an exhaust hanger
If we drove on the wrong side of the road it would be alright
Beautiful
I have a first gen impreza :^)
I hate it
going to sell it to someone for something cheap like £500 just so I dont have to deal with the type of people that would want this.
But it is a French car they always need to make everything different but not in a good way. Like the "new" Peugeot 3008 who thought that this was good idea.
theres nothing really quirky about the 305
my saab is quirkier than my 305
only quirk that has every made me go beh is the impreza having the indicators on the right side
Spaceship
I like it
Except for the steering wheel area
Everything here I think is stunning
Okay that is a weird place for a start stop button
Couldn't you accidentally press that whilst driving? 😂
That's the problem for me with that design the steering wheel is way to low. And the instrument cluster looks like it will block a bit of the driver visibility.
Maybe it came out before Peugeot started to do a lot of things differently then the other car manufactures.
I love the sabretooth headlights on new Peugeots
All the peugeots I think about arent really quirky but I dont care for anything beyond a *06
its citroen that were up to stuff back then but even then most of that doesent bother me
I think you need to double press it force the car to stop while driving. At least that how it is on my dads Passat haven't tested it on my moms car yet but I bet its the same thing.
mhhh interesting
I've never tried it on my car, and I won't 😂
How do your parents feel about you trying that on their cars 😂
I did it at very low speed at empty parking space just to know that happens when you do it they dont mind it at all as long as I do it in a safe way. Basically what happened in the Passat is that it just engages the electronic parking brake and stops.
I like it but its on an suv so I'll pass
I wouldn't call the 3008 a SUV can you even get it with AWD ?
That's what in the manufacture calls it but in my opinion its more like an mpv. Volkswagen even calls the t-cross a SUV
That is correct but manufacture likes to call their crossovers for SUVs instead because they sell better then. The only real suv Volkswagen has on the market right now is the Touareg. But they like to call the T-cros,T-roc,Taigo,Tiguan,ID4 and ID5 for SUVs to but they all are crossover in reality.
if its phat, ugly and overly tall its an suv
doesnt need to have 4wd for that
Yeah. AWD/4WD isn't a requirement for a SUV.
In North America this used to be exactly true in the era of 4Runners, Land Cruisers, GMC Jimmys and Blazers, but nowadays the slope angle of the rear window seems to be all that stands between a Crossover and a SUV, not that I think it's right but from what I can see that's it...
But what you posted would make more sense because as it is, a Mitsubishi RVR and a 4Runner are both SUV, yet they have fundamental differences.
Not a stupid idea at all here is video of me using it my dads Passat with the high beam on at all time and it didn't blind anyone. it was still pretty bright outside but you will get the point and you can clearly see how the lights changes to not blind oncoming cars or even cars in front of me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbcjdAljTVo
Does it have adaptive led matrix or just normal auto high beam ?
It's the dumber of the 2
The low beams are "smart"
But the high beam is just on off
the key part being that it tries to not blind people, doesnt mean it's always gonna work 100% effectively
just dont be lazy lol
exactly its just an excuse for people to keep their high beams on at all times
Yeah as the Hybrid4
So the PHEV
AWD is just a rear electric motor tho
Yeah you don't know until someone flashes you, and good chance people are blinded but then it corrects quickly enough to stop them from flashing you, but they were still blinded
But you won't know
Modern Mini's with LED's look like they have high beams on when it's just low beam
Doesn't matter, I get blinded, so they get my high beam back
techmology
yeah the facelifted ND with the upgraded headlights has that too
Still not as bad as people putting LEDs in old cars
My only proper "road rage" incident
Context?
Actually another interesting thing my lights do is they light up signs next to the road
called a kickup its existed for years :^)
Just like a quick flash to light up the sign
~2010 golf with LED shite following me
you can see his lights literally lighting up the air around my car
Does anyone know how the MAC works on Toyota security?
Welp somebody hit the dakota while it was parked today
I exchanged info with them but now I need to chase down the insurance company for time lost
I have nothing to tow my trailer
So now I can't work
thats horrific
laser headlights
i guess
hard to tell on video, but in real life it's easy for me to see if anyone has laser headlights
damn
i like those dakotas they're cool
sad thing is that the insurance is probably going to total it and undervalue it
They probably would go like "we will give you enough money to buy a similar thing on the market, if you think yours worth more give us some proof."
You thinking of getting it fixed?
What happens when a car was "totalled" is the estimated cost of repair are more than getting a similar thing from the market so the insurance decided just give you what the whole thing worths (in the market), usually minis what the remains would still worth or take the remains themselves.
If you insist to repair they would just give you what they think it still worth and you pay the extra.
Looking for some advice. I'll be getting my driver's license soon (finally. Lol), and I'll be looking for a car for myself. What kinds of cars should I be looking at, and what amount of money should I expect to need? For reference, I'm located in Alberta, Canada
It largely depends on what kind of person you are and what you expect from your car.
what money you should expect is a completely wrong question, it should be "what would be best for the amount of money i can spend"
Seems to work pretty well no on blinked on me for having the high beams on and you litterly se how the lights changes when driving behind a car or pass uncoming cars.
@brittle totem the F20 also has the phone holder in the center console
Is it for a phone that came out 5 years before the car or something that was new while the car was being sold. My moms has an iPhone 4 holder and the car was made in early2015 so the iphone 6 would have been the newest then.
Ngl haven't looked that closely to it... My brother already put some crap on top of it. But I think I was the 30-pin connector, so probably iPhone 4
With car prices currently high but parts prices pretty much tge same as before, I'm thinking it'd be better worth fighting them on the totalling since I expect them to open a book, look up Dakota, and offer a price he'll never afford an equivalent truck with in this economy.
Bob make sure you list every.single.feature this truck had i side and out to get the most out of them.
But part of my point was also that this look fairly repairable to me and I would definitely try to have it fixed.
New knuckle, ball joint, tie-rod, and sway bar link.
Fender.
Brake line.
Yeah, if their estimated market price too low and you can provide proof (might need to find an adjuster) the offer can be adjusted.
I am 100% getting it fixed
I cannot get another one of these
They are too rare

well shoot i done doordinged a car
working on finding the owner of the car
luckily it’s at school and they have a parking permit so someone can look up the permit number and tell me whose car it is

Smh
not the most flashy, sporty, or high end but the first NEW car I ever bough my 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid
Congratulations!!! Great looking truck!
Thanks! got a few months back but just joined the discord and still love sharing it (also know not many of them are in the wild just yet)
I swear to god the mini keeps getting new scratches every time I drive it
hitting a particularly dense cloud of midges clearly caused it
I love the wheels
YO congrats man thats aa huge milestone, looks great! enjoy
lmaooo yea I talked with the person who owned it, they don’t care and i gave em 50$ for the trouble
You got off well then
Who doesn't want to have a v10 with a manual gearbox in their family car. I still don't understand why it was only available in north America and not in Europe we only got the one with the automatic transmission.
E39 is the better daily out of the three. Probably.
Yeah the manuals are just crazy rare here
Yeah the e60 is the opposite of reliability specially the EU version of the M5.
We didn't even get a manual m5 e60 that was an north America exclusive. So the ones that are manual are either manual swapped or imported from north America.
I did, luckily it should rub out with a good wash, I lucked out big time that it didn’t fuck up the paint or dent it
And unreliable and not that nice if you are planning of daily driving it of what I have heard from people that owes the e60 m5 or have driven one.
I had 2 French people ding my car, both nowhere to be seen when I got back to the car
It’s not that unreliable just need to do TBAs and rod bearings
And get rid of that crappy SMG
Only 1 of the dings rubbed of sadly
Oh i meant the SMG transmission and not a DCT one.
So I realized my new speakers. the baffle of the speaker is taller than the mount, so putting my kick panel over it could result in the surround of the speaker rubbing the kick panel....
Someone put the S85 and a DCT into the E46 M3
aww that’s unfortuanate

This cleaned up without a mark
I’ve seen people ding my car but mine’s a rolling pile of crap so I didn’t really mind, just asked for an apology
Yeah, was horrified when I first saw it
jeez
But gladly I think it was one of those plastic trim pieces that hit the car
I guess that's what they are for
In general they are terrible at it, especially in the Marseille area
mine’s made of steel so it takes a bit of force to do anything
50% of their cars are literally held together with duct tape
lmaoooo
it sucks that it can happen truely randomly pretty much
one gust of wind and wham
That's such a small ding but its gonna rust if you ignore it 👀
Peugeot 405 my beloved
i really want one of these things as a first car
if not then the next option is either a 406 or a 206 RC
Get a 405 dope as hell
Yeah I know, thanks for reminding me though, just ordered some touch up paint
dont know how cheap they are over here in the uk, il have a look though
e46s are the most fun of the 2... but the build quality and chassis issues make it hard for me to be interested
so.... e39 m5.
Hi jake
the rod bearings of the E46 and Vanos kinda puts me off
S54 was a hell of a screamer though
Agreed
the engine issues are easy to fix at least
try subframe cracking, strut top cracking
interiors that fall apart
Yeah with the E39 chassis rust issue
My grand father put diesel into his bmw kinda dying now
its not that bad, maybe if car was parked aside its whole life
Or my salt water
Matt Farah was basically told to always check the rear subframe with each oil change.
That would be a shame then. They’re both really fun to drive
The V8 in the E39 and the E9X M are the only two V8s from BMW I really like now
Their i6’s are where their engineering is strongest and it showed with the M54/2 and N52
And then the turbo phase came along and changed the entire game
Tbf its from 2001
But only 95k km on it
Honestly the introduction of the S58 changed the game for modern 6 cylinders
It seems every manufacturer is downsizing their performance engines for efficiency
I’m not a fan of AMGs 2.0L 4 Cyl
you cant check it properly w/o pulling the subframe
the dream car is M3 GTR. Not as a daily but just for the driving experience
My dream car is the 1969 Ford Mustang electric swapped
Oh no
People who electric swap classic cars need help
I mean like restore one with no engine ect
What’s wrong with the engine
I wouldn’t ruin a perfectly good car
the car was meant to be driven with an engine not with a lifeless electric motor
I mean if its just the body no engine
Just dump a bigger engine in it then
electric swapping is way more work than just dumping in another engine
Yea? So? Electric is the way the world is going
Yes. Swapping electric into an old car just ruins it. Get a Tesla or something it would be cheaper
But it doent look as cool?
Real performance driving is still done with combustion engines
I just want an electric classic i dont care for performance
Fyi my dream non classic is an audi rs7
What would your guys dream 3 car garage be?
The elecric mustang, audi rs7, audi q5
Just the two words electric and mustang in one sentence is so foul 💀💀
Bro let me have an opinion smh
Fine audi r8 convertible, red, audi rs7 black and audi q5 gray
I like audi btw
U?
For me a 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo, a bmw M1 and a bmw e30 for my dad
Yeah the m1 kinda weird for a list like that cuz you shouldn’t drive such a super rare and old care but it’s just cool asf
I mean not in the list just a good, low fuel consumption car
Maybe a bmw 540d
My dad has a g31 really cool car
My family kinda always been a beemer family lmao
What version?
2022
Yeah the nd is cool asf
I daily a 1985 Mercedes 190e and it's a ton of fun
190e‘s look so good fr
Yea someone at my work has an emerald green one in immaculate condition
I put the AMG style front bumper , and it's been lowered. I put the 16 inch wheels off a similar year car to fill in the gap
It's also manual swapped
You see a ton of them here in Germany but the majority of them are super dirty and rusty cuz the most people that drive them are old as hell
Mine is taxi yellow lol
Dayum
Oh in Germany a manual mercedes is nothing special
here in America it's a unicorn lol
There's a lot of South African users in my enthusiast groups
Lol
If only shipping wasn't so expensive we could share parts to build our own unicorns
I like this colour
In general bmw and Audis are so common here Germany like almost every 4th car is a beemer here. Was so surprised many Americans consider bmws as Luxury cars lol
In Britain I beleive the engine sizes are much smaller generally than USA, so the 2.3 is rarer in Britain than USA. But manual trans is reverse popularity
Same in South Africa bmws are too common
Wrong reply srry
No worry
Also the amount of landrovers in south Africa
@fathom socket All Euro cars are marketed as luxury here. I assume it has to do with import taxes making them very expensive generally.
Kinda sad that euros are so expensive to maintain everywhere else around the world
I think it's just the perception. I work on my own cars and own all nationalities. They all have their pro's and cons.
Book time and parts cost are about the same unless you're shipping from Europe or Japan
Also I guess I'm forgetting new cars exist
I'm a weird car guy dont listen to me as anything more than an "armchair expert"
I hate how the jdm hype boom has affected the car market like a na miata with under 150k km is way over 6k
Who else wants this
Korean car market will likely follow suit. Grab your G35's now before they're 15k
Yeah like the gt86/frs/brz still seems new to me even tho they came out in 2013
I actually really like Hyundais mindset on cars rn
I was at the LA auto show in December and was very impressed with the new Hyundai Optima. I've never considered myself a Hyundai fan, but they had the best feeling manual trans that day.
Grab a toyota century
I want a Century so bad. Every since that Throttle House video
Ikr
Like they don’t go with the trend of making all shit electric and expand development in internal combustion
Im sorry but the new dodge is shit
fr
I perceive Hyundai in a similar light to Toyota's racing development team. They just wanna go fast
Either be an electric car or a gas car dont try and emulate one
Toy sounding exhaust ass
Yeah it’s kinda like the sound emulation with bmw just mich worse
Like the new Toyota Tacoma pipes in V8 noise when it's only a v6. Like c'mon just own it and let the engine sing! I know many a V6 that are worth talking about
I swear to god so many „sportsy“ cars have massive exhaust tips but the actual pipe is tiny
Just like every modern suv
Looking at you Mercedes
My neighbor has a 960 rotting in front of his house and it drives my crazy
Steal it
I drove an S60 recently and loved it!
I drove the xc60 yesterday
Only thing I don’t like what Volvo did is limit their speed to 180kmh on all cars :/
Why u going over that?
Because it’s fun?
Quit racing a non racing car
Well i am from Sweden and I have newer driven a volvo yet. Maybe its time for me to that.
200kmh ain’t ain’t racing
gotta go fast
But who is racing in volvo anyways.
Exactly
Ooooh of you would know
I learned to drive in a Saab !!! XD
There’s a ton of people who rally Volvos
Also learned how to smoke and drive in a Saab 😛
I learned to drive in an audi prolly why im such a fan
I think in general I don’t like speed limiters in cars just kinda feels like wasted potential
Yea cuz you cant break them
I am not a fan of speed limiters unless there's a valid reason. Some high performance cars go to a tuner shop that beefs the engine but doesn't touch the brakes or suspension.
More power needs more breaks
Yeah. My brother and some of his colleagues where testing their new parts witch they are developing for latest Porsche 911 generation on the turbo s at work. And he said that you felt that the car could handle a bit more but it just stopped att 330km/h becuse of the speed limit. But to be fair driving at that speed is probely no a good idea if you are not on track or a airstrip.
oooo what is he developing? 👀
The boys at singer Porsche are just a mile down the road from me and I’m always seeing them test new toys. I might have been egging them at the red light by revving 😅
The ducktail wing has DRS and he was just flexing on everyone making it go up and down
I like to think that in my head we're friends because I always warn them of speed traps when I pass them. My ride is restored and I drive quick, it's hard to miss me lol
Mostly silcon hoses intercoolers, oil coolors and radiators and they are model adapted and spacially made for the plattform of course. If you want to read more about them they are called do88 Performance.
And they are selling specially made parts for the only fully swedish car manufacture thst still exits. You can probely guess witch company it is.
Koenigsegg?
Getting some do88 stuff for the saab
koenigsegg loves to use ford truck motors
Didn't they just do that for the first CC8S cars?
I didn't think about engine production, now I must look into Volvo's engine platforms lol
After that I'm sure it was all their own engines.
get me a discount on a do88 intercooler myes
I would be tempted by the do88 intercooler but id have to cut my nice NG900 bumper and I want to keep it discrete
shares motors with Continental
That’s what I’m doing, very doable
If you’re tiny, and you don’t need any boot space 😂
this thing
They almost used a Motori Modern based Subaru engine for the original CC
didn't realize that the original Koenigsegg CC were made in 1994
ford put the 3v of that motor in the explorer
bc every mom needs a mustang gt powered suv?
Well it weighs like 5000 lbs or 2200kg you need that much power to move the thing lol
its 4400 rwd 4800 4x4
I think we're splitting hairs lol
I was about to say the exact same thing
the v6 escape is faster
i own a v8 explorer and its aways fun to take out lifted trucks at a stop light
the 0-60 (0-100) is 6.6S
Yeah transmission makes or breaks a car
Do you offroad?
kinda
Niiice
I have a $300 chevy cobalt I wanna put big wheels on and rally it lol
reason #1293854 to learn to weld - to put a roll cage
open diff
weld time
It's a $300 It'll be ok packed surfaces and auto-cross
fwd is easier for beginner drivers
put big off road tires on it and send it
send it 6 feet off a ramp, and fix what breaks, and do it again
There's a guy in a crown vic with a Coyote motor in it lol
he drives around my town lol
5.0c is a common swap for 3rd gens
they take the 10r100 and 5.0c from a f150
and its bolt in
I play with dinky lil 2.0 4 bangers lol 5L seems like infinite motor
i cooked the one car i had with a i4
the front sub frame left it
with motor transmission and suspension
lol sub frame has left the chat
take a guess on the vehicle
Ford Fiesta?
190e? lol
is that even fwd?
my hint is its related to a Snail
S-Cargo?
Idk
NV200
I've never seen an S-Cargo irl
I'm trying to think if I've ever even seen one before
I think there's a Tesla service truck that's one of those
also has a CVT
Well isn't this car right in the middle of the Nissan and Renault and Mitsubishi getting married?
yep
hahahah
build quality
lower than a 90s ford
my 98 ford had everything working
this didnt even have working heating
or doors
passenger doors didnt open
LOL the French did the mechanical work, and the Japanese did the designing. Top Gear already made that joke tho
boss, you say the trip will take 60 miles, but the engine will need to take 61 miles to get there
the body hit the the wheels so it didnt move more than 2mph
so that makes my sold killed owned 1 ford one nissan one ford
solution:
LOL
its a pile
i kinda wanted to buy it for 250 usd
but i wouldnt have been able to get a trailer to pull it
stupid uhaul hating explorers
they claim the hitch can pull the bumper off
that is impossible as the hitch is a part of the frame
and the bumper is on the body
I have an issue with cheap cars.
I bough my 3rd car today. I now own 3 cars. It was $600 with a new motor
i want a second beater
my other shit is a same year Chevy Cobalt (I dont like chevy just coincidence) and that mf gets 35mpg hwy
idk man my budget for cars is usually less than $1000
i need rwd 4x4 or awd
why spend money when you can spend time lol
Similarly, I don't have as strong of a preference for driven wheel type. However, I despise automatic transmissions. It's hot here in Socal, I choose to drive with no AC over automatic trans. I could easily just borrow my Dad's car, or a friends car, or uber. But I wanna play shifty
People would pay ridiculous price for the BMW 1M here, especially black/white bc everyone went orange back then so black/white are extra rare.
Big part was for its among the dying breed of MT and MT only.
Also someone explain why anyone would buy a bmw?
They seem a lot more expensive to own next to a mustang charger or vette
Because too immature are just right?
JK aside, lot of people like BMW for their handling.
Not going to say that is the best, but they are different.
If that is exactly what fits you then why not.
On other hand BMW tends to make the exact car people would sell their kidney for, as concept cars, and never release them.
So the few "just right" ones were highly sought after.
There aren't any perfect answers in terms of cars (many are outright wrong answers tho.) So people can like different things.
For me all the models I want have major issues
And the equivalent ford/Chevy are cheaper even after repairs
If you are mature enough to care about the cost of ownership then BMW are not for you.
Incidentally my parents have spent more maintaining their Toyota than I’ve spent maintaining my BMW
my parrents dont like me spending cash on my car
idk why
putting 200 a week would still be cheaper than a new car
200 a week aren't exactly low but that is pretty normal for cars.
this is also a 16y old car that hasnt been taken care of
im going to replace the heatcore lines this weekend
next weekend i will fix the steering rack leak
and under coat it
then i may fix the p0420 code
*the cats work but not 100% it still passes fed standards but not cali standards but im not in cali and dont smog test
Oh the price for cats are a bit too high now.
Cats are fine
they are like .2 of a point under
And triggering the p0420
Also my state doesn't test
🐈🐈⬛
The new Equinox doesn't look too bad.
How tall are you?
Is that a ford?
yes, its a Ford Mondeo mk 4.5 (aka fusion for the Yanks)
it replaced my mk 4 that got hit by a bus back in May, I have only owned it for a couple of months
That generation of Ford Mondeo was never sold as a Fusion
Only the last Mondeo/Fusion was sold as the same car under their "One Ford" strategy, where they wanted to make one car for every market
They've since abandoned that strategy lol
Apparently different markets ask for different cars
Ngl, this is the most 🅱️ased thing I've ever read
That’s the best thing if read today lmao
The only people that are more wrong and cocky about performance then Tesla drivers are jdm 12 yearolds 💀
Like no bro a Supra won’t gap a Huracan 💀
1.72m
Toyota Z4 / BMW Supra
Ngl they co-developed the chassis and their suspension setup is entirely different, so just calling it a BMW with a roof doesn't give it enough credit imho
I'd drive the manual 3.0 Mk5
If it wasn't freaking 100k
Yeah also the rear and front bumper don’t look anything like on the z4
Yeah for a 100k you can get a hellcat and ACTUALLY gap Lambos lmao
Yes 😀
Also, don't want to corner with a Hellcat lol
Boat
Yeah one of his collogues owns a 9-5 that is extremally tuned with their parts i think it has around 700hp right now. And the fastest car they the company owns right now is Volvo 850 way faster then that's golf gti mk7 and mk8 at least in a straight line.
People that is not from North America mustangs here is very expensive and more expensive the a a faster BMW. I would take a BMW M2 every day over a Mustang GT.
Those 2 are nearly the same price and the m2 competition is faster in every single way and more fun to drive to. But in the us the mustang is very cheap right for the v8 model ?
A mustang starts at 110k euro in the Netherlands lol
the mustang isn't much more than a speced Camry
And that's for a gt
@brittle totem ^
Basically its the price of a nice Toyota 4 door for the v8 gt
Heh V8 starts over €100k here
Idk if it's even available anymore, maybe just the 4-cyl
my top spec explorer v8 was also 38k
So Mach-1 costs the same here as an M3 of M4, ~125k
Didn't know that mach-e was this expensive fully loaded.
160k for a Shelby that expensive you can get a used Lamborghini Huracan for nearly the same price. Or a m4 GTS
The Mach e is so ugly 😭
How well do you fit?
Well enough, but it's not particularly roomy
So i wont fit then fuck
Why didn't they call it just Ford mach-e and not Mustang mach-e if they continue like this they are going to "destroy" the mustang name and lagacy.
How tall?
204
The Mach e doesn’t deserve to have written mustang on it. They literally just called it a mustang so it seems more „sportsy“
Whilst I I agree they shouldn't have called it a mustang, it does share a lot of styling with the the actual Mustang and looks great imo
Seen one in real life? They aren't bad.
Yeah they are decent but they should not be called Mustang. They are way better looking the what Audi is offering with the Q4
Eh. Easy enough to just call it "Mach-E"
I don’t live far from a ford dealership, I know what they look like
I like it
But not very space efficient
new VW IDBUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ is roughly the same dimensions and has literally 3x the cargo volume
Seems like that all of the legacy manufactures is struggling with make space effcient evs. Just compare the luggage space that model y offers compared to lagecy manufactures in the catogery.
If they can make me a 7 seat, SWB, dual motor ID Buzz with 300 miles of range then I would be so happy
True, but I don't think they're measuring the same thing. The Model Y definitely has the biggest boot, but I'm pretty sure it's counted differently because it doesn't have a parcel shelf
the mach e should have been named the ford edge, a discontinued car that looks somewhat similar
It has now so I think they have counted with that.
isn't the Id buzz already completely sold out already ?
Well sure but they haven't announced the various variants yet
Here is two variant you can get here in Sweden. One for personal use and one made specific for cargo use.
The normal version has range of maximum 422km with 5 seats.
There's no 7 seater version for now
Also, after all the "hype" over the last 20 years, barely has anything more to offer than the Stellantis vans
But that cargo one seems very cheap compared on what is on the market right now a electric Mercedes "cargo van" with like 150km of range goes for like the same price but its a bit bigger.
The passenger version is the 1st edition which has quite some features, cheaper trims will come later
Same was also with the ID.3/.4
Base id3 starts at the same price as 1st edition buzz cargo.
With the smaller battery pack to.
Does the cargo version only have a single seat?
Two probably
They don't specify that yet most likely two it can be three like most cargo vans.
Id say the id3 is too expensive but a golf is already at around 35k € soo the 39k for a base model isn't that far off
mhh, a lot of cargo vans over here only have 1 seat for tax reasons
Id buzz is just an electric transporter like the id3 is the electric golf
Nothing too special
Base golf is 25k but with the same equipment as the id3 base model its probably around 35k if you want it with 200hp engine.
Not here and why would the tax be less if it can transport less people it should be higher then right ?
Ye in Germany base golf is 30k sooo yeah
In Sweden it 25k with the 1.0 TSI 110hp.
Oh ye it starts at the 1.5 TSi or 2.0 tdi here
How much is a base GTI or R in Sweden?
Around 36k
But the wait time is probably 2 years.
Well getting a new car rn fresh from the production line is good luck with that
If you wait long enough you will get it but then golf 8,5 is probably released by the time you get it.
I assume the next update will come rather sooner than later in its life to maybe fix the interior
Vw knows people hate it, if they are going to do anything about it is a different topic
What's wrong with the interior?
Softwarebugs and everything is touch, capacitive buttons, some elements not being lit
The bugs being the actual reason why people return them
You can get used to the not buttons and everything in the screen even tho its just the worse way of controlling stuff
Ahhh
But the software issues they're having are apparently pretty bad
I've never driven the 8, so not been able to experience that
Its not just the 8 its every related model
Transporter, caddy, SUVs (idk how far they're updated yet but if they arent it'll follow)
They have finaly fixed the infotamient lag on gold 8. My brother company has one as test car for their products. When it was brand new the infotamient was litterly useless for like 3 mins before it finally booted up probely. But the worst thing is that the climat controls has no lights behind them so you cant se them at all when it dark outside.
But the new polo which came out after golf got better buttons, and climate controls
So i assume they will work on that with a facelift
The golf R in Sweden is even cheaper then that.
They have already fixed that with the 2022 model year of the golf.
haha
Pain
Well climate control is still in a screen
How often do you change climate control parameters?
The beauty of climate control it's set and forget
In winter quite often actually because of fogging up windshield
That shouldn't really happen if you have climate control turned on
Unless you mean when you're getting into the car
That's more expensive then a M340I xDrive in Sweden. I avtully never knew that ice car was so much cheaper here then the rest of europé.
Well I think it's mainly that cars in NL are stupidly expensive compared to everywhere else
Not that Sweden is particularly cheap
It happens especially if you have the car filled up with people and a cold day
It has separate touch climat controls buttoms under the screen to.
I just want the spinny boys back
That's actually not too crazy, probably because it's a mild hybrid?
Saved a bit on tax
That's explains it i thought you where fron Germany.
Bit like the Panamera, the higher end hybrid version is actually cheaper than the lower end non hybrid version
Same here penemera e hybrid basically has no annual tax here becuse of the hybrid battery that is only their to make car faster at acceleration.
The second time i pay a professional to do car related work for me they fuck it up.

That is what this video is. It's a lot simpler than you think!
Links 'n' stuff

I wonder, would a reversible heat pump be more efficient in ICE cars? You wouldn't need the heat exchanger for the heater and you'd be pushing more energy into the cabin than you're using. I'm just not sure how much power routing the waste heat into the cabin takes compared to running a heat pump.
I thought the routing of waste heat into the cabin was incredibly efficient
A reversible heat pump seems like an incredible waste of energy for a car
It is a heatpump right, just not a reversible one
ICE cars are heated by waste energy
Engine heat is free basically as you need to cool it down anyway, so giving it to the interior doesn't cost anything
Yes
I'm wondering how electric cars are heated now
Probably just resistive heat?
Ahh seems like it's a mix of resistive heat and reversible heat pumps
Depending on the car
Reversible heat pumps is mostly EV's
Sometimes optional
Ah you mentioned EVs, missed that
Back-up is resistive heating
Or cheaper EVs only have resistive heating
Most of them are using a heat pump and some older evs uses the motor in uneffcient mode to generate heat.
Yeah I just don't know how much effort goes into the routing, I suppose that would be super efficient.
I do find EVs with a unidirectional heat pump to be quite silly.
Most EVs just use a restive heater, which is dumb.
That's 1W of electrical power for 1W of heat.
You can use a heat pump to get 1W of heat from 0.5W of electrical power.
(They can be more or less efficient than that of course)
Do we have two different units named watt for heat and electricity?
It's the same amount of energy.
Well then the output can't be twice the input. Watt am I missing here?
You get the extra energy from the outside air.
Heatpumps transfer energy
Just like with A/C, but you take it from the cabin and dump it outside.
There is still a lot of energy even when it's 0 outside.
yep
Oooh
zero energy is when it's absolute zero right?
Yeap.
nice
Though they stop being efficient at around -25 or there about.
just out of curiosity.
does the 3 litre VW have electric heater?
Highly unlikely.
I'll be taking this car home in a couple days
Wish I was able to take more video or some proper photos of it but I only had a couple minutes since we were short for time
Very excited to be getting an E39. It's been on my bucket list for a while and I'm hoping to keep it mostly stock, do a bit of restoration, and build the powertrain up a bit
You mean the Lupo/A2 3L? Don't quote me on this, but I think they had an additional electric heater element besides the regular heating system, to heat up the cabin while the engine heat was kept for the engine to heat it up faster and reduce emissions.
Keep it stock? Doesn't look stock to me
It looks completely stock even cosmetically. It has a flashy paintjob and tinted taillights but that's it.
Congratulations @glad mantle , we don't see those in such good shape everyday.
Don't know about where you're from but over here blacked-out taillights are against the rules and are a cop magnet.
did gus won?
Gus?
gustavo fring
I honestly start fearing what that did to my car won't fix my overheating issue
naw i rather talk motorcycles lol
bikes are the best
i daily ride a 2008 yamaha vstar 650
living in southern US has its benefits for riding
my boss laughs at me when i carry computer equipment between offices. i strap it either my cargo rack or to back seat
but i wanna get a gixxer
we don’t have license grades in the us for personal licenses only when it comes to commercial
ik
for us here in the states we take a class for 2 weekends. if we pass we get a certificate we can take to the dmv and get our endorsement
we do have to get certified to ride a motorcycle tho it’s roughly a 40 hour class
CBR600RR pull 😋
here we need to go to a school and in the end u have a test and if u pass u get the license
should go to 300km
is it a school or a class that’s in a destination with a driving course?
for all 600 superbikes
for us we have to do driving course and written test
but i’m glad it’s only 40 hours and not weeks
that’s my gear in the bag for when it is raining or if i have to care equipment between offices
yes its a kindda school its a business u start at the training area and if u fell u good with it and the teacher approves it u can go to an open lesson like u can go for a ride in traffic and staff
ik but 150 miles is like 240 kmh
we don’t do traffic ride it’s all closed course
its so u can feel how you operate in traffic
yea we don’t have that luxury they don’t trust us
lol
atm i am trying to find a new battery charger for my bike
but we start on auto and up to 125 bikes or 14.6 hp
because of the electronics on it i have to maintance charge it over my weekend
ours are 250cc bikes
like the honda rebel
but its not auto
nope
we don’t do auto unless you want to be made fun of
