When the id4 was brand new some journalist here in Sweden struggled just by trying to go up for this in a so called "SUV".

stoic ledge
#

Exactly

charred depot
#

was it on winters

stoic ledge
#

I hope VW was smart enough to put their demo cars on winter tires in Scandinavian countries during the winter

#

Probably even mandated

charred depot
#

well thats just hilarious then

#

understandable when they are on their eco magic tyres but winter tyres no excuses.

brittle totem
#

But I think it was on studless winter tires.

charred depot
#

my friend has some super fancy Michelin non studded winters on his 305 and its totally unstoppable

#

had a 205 with winters on the front only and it was the only thing going about

hoary pine
charred depot
#

heh

#

snow couldnt stop it

stoic ledge
#

Because it was slippery? Or were the tires so good it just went through it, snow couldn't stop it

#

I still don't know

hoary pine
charred depot
#

snow couldnt stop it, not it couldnt stop because of the snow

stoic ledge
#

Aight

charred depot
#

ive thought about getting a pair of winter tyres but as soon as I do it will never snow again

stoic ledge
#

Classic

charred depot
#

had winter tyres on when I got it but they were a nice atleast 25 years old

hoary pine
#

Can relate, as soon as I wash my car it rains before I can even park it.

stoic ledge
#

Classic

#

That's why I have my dad wash my car

charred depot
#

my car hasnt been washed since atleast 1998 : )

#

i will get around to it

stoic ledge
#

July 27th, so a month 👀 Gotta poke my dad again to get it washed

charred depot
#

We got a 205 in to the unit and someone has fitted a temp and voltage gauge mok, but there is also a random led digital readout which bounces between 18.4 and 19 what does it meaaan!

stoic ledge
#

Fuel consumption in km/l?

charred depot
#

id be amazed

stoic ledge
#

Same

#

But maybe someone created something themselves

charred depot

stoic ledge

Where do the wires go to

Because info

brittle totem
charred depot
#

yeah

#

most people just dont drive for the week or two of it being extra bad

stoic ledge
#

Same here

#

I don't have winter tires

charred depot
#

those who do tend to slide into kerbs, alot or jump them and smash into your car in the driveway.

stoic ledge
#

If there's really snow, I'd just not go out

brittle totem
#

Oh so it doesn't even get icy during winter in the Netherlands ?

stoic ledge
#

But ngl four our climate you'd basically need to switch between summer and winter tires during the day

charred depot
#

well it will just not for long

stoic ledge
#

They yeet salt everywhere 24/7

#

Best 2 tire setup for here would be summer and all-season

charred depot
#

out in rural scotland they dump salt mounds every so often for you to use to get yourself unstuck heh

#

we usually have a week of extreme snow which is fun if you have winter tyres as you are the only person about.

#

but winter tyres for "potentially" a week or two use isnt really worth it.

stoic ledge
#

Look at that scary snow

#

The amount

#

Got snowed in

charred depot
#

honestly that scares me more than deep snow

#

stoic ledge

Well if there's an ice patch winter tires won't help you either

Otherwise they'll be like

charred depot

generally here they look at similar vehicles for sale

#

theres two 305's up for sale at £5k I think heh

stoic ledge
#

Last time we had thicc snow was 2010, my dad wouldn't even leave the street with the car. So stayed home, parked the car along the street for a few days

charred depot

Although I think those have the steering wheel on the wrong side, worthless

We control the UK 305 market

ill have my friends put theirs up for sale at like £6k

it does have some awful tyres on the rear, but you can kick it out on roundabouts with its little engine.

#

We were joking about welding on a old ford escort solid rear axle to a peugeot 305, it would be ver nice though.

#

Add in a saab engine with vauxhall omega gearbox. Bring all the brands together.

brittle totem

Yeah my dad did the same roadtrip that we did in Norway this summer back when he was in my age so like 25 years ago and told us that it used to be like a fully winter up on the mountain roads and you couldn't even pass anyone on the mountain roads becuse of all of the snow. And nowadays its nearly snowfree at the same moutains during the same time of the year. So yeah alot of changed.

Thinking if we should remap the 116i... N13 has great potential (220+ on stock components) but it's not the most reliable engine so maybe keep it safe and remap it to ~120i levels

As 120i had the same engine for a while

Yeah so that's H/K

#

There's HiFi in-between

Which is similar to the base + center

Same as my moms car then I can recommend your brother to get an after market carplay "box" that doesn't completely replace the factory idrive. So you can choose between the factory idrive and the aftermarket carplay. And when you out it reserv it will automatically switch back to the normal idrive so you can se the reversing camra and parking sensors. And then back to carplay when you shift back to drive again or 1st gear.

# charred depot instructors generally have pretty new cars here, mines was just a corsa though i...

During the lessons that I took I was driving a nearly fully loaded manual diesel Passat b8. During my driving test I was driving a Skoda Octavia fully loaded option wise but I think it has hade the base 1,5 liter engine with the manual gearbox. And for the people that where taking a automatic licenses got do their driver test in Volvo v60 d4 latest gen. And some instructors even has Teslas as their "learning" cars. But the best I have seen is a driving school in the south part of Sweden that has manual golf r and manual golf gti both mk 7,5
