We use dingoes at work instead of bobcats
Nope. It is whatever the differential is.
They can't lift as much but they're very convenient
The temp on idle
Not able to cool it self down
Also headgasket isn't blown
Weird
You sure the temperature sensor isn't just bad? 😛
I thought you also tested it without a thermostat, so it just keeps cooling 24/7, and it still overheated then?
who can relate xD
nice
yep
That is very strange
Without thermostat is should never even properly reach the regular operating temperature
Or never.... under specifi load, but then at idle cool down immediately
That's what I had in mind too.
And then you have the crane-hooklift. Which oil heats up while driving and goes down when idling.
all me cars which have had stuck thermostats could never even get close to warmed up
before my thermostat was like partially closed any my car overheated super fast
Idk what's normal , my car has no temprature gauge or what ever you call it
It gives a warning tho
Let's just say that 119C is a good 20+ degrees higher than what you would want.
Normally with trucks, it's in the 95C range during heavier loads.
In cars ?
Probably about the same. If not a bit lower.
So you mean my cpu temp while playing Minecraft is higher than what you would want for a vehicle
My cpu just stays at 103 degrees Celsius
Probably doesn't help that I had to add like 10 liters of oil when I checked the oil level before.
Usually you get lots of warnings to tell you to stop and check the oil.
I've got Vaseline and toothpaste on my cpu
But I got nothing with this truck.
Like 10 litres of oil
?
Yeah. I added 10 liters of oil to the system.
How big is the engine ?
1.2 in my car
Diesel ?
Yeah. Straight six.
Uhh.
Give me a few.
Probably around 1,800 Nm?
Sure doesn't feel like it.
So around 1,300 ft lb?
I think peak torque for me starts below 1,000 rpm.
Do you know its weight without trailer
17,500 kg empty, 28,000 kg fully loaded.
Never running a trailer.
Mine held arou d 70-85°c under bigger load
Yeah. Which is normal temps.
Anything below 95 C is fine. Honestly.
It's when you creep above that.
Been also thinking of adding an oil temp sensor to my car
Idk what's even wrong with it anymore.
I'll probably add an oil temp to my car later.
The only two needles that I do have are fuel and coolant.
@fathom socket but does it actually overheat, or is just the reading to the dashboard wrong?
this is what I don't know
I had once overheat
like radiator blown up hot
Was that before or after you changed the radiator and thermostat?
yes
So both?
it did overheat before changing radiator
then it started overheating again because thermostat was stuck closed
and after few days it got hot and it hovers somewhat about 110c
when it's cold it doesn't do that tho
sick
What I don't really like is just that they are all sports cars.
Best car for touring probably being the four seat Ferrari...
If you could ever imagine that.
they're not all sports cars tho, there's a ford focus rs, a GT4 Lusso, a v12 vantage, a v8 vantage, C63 Black Series, an E500 wagon, and a Renault Clio
aside from the last two they're all grand tourers
the orange one top row second farthest
Thats a focus??
that's a focus rs heritage edition ya
next to it is a 2004 clio
below it is an '02 merc e500 wagon
the v12 vantage is an 09 i think, same with the v8 vantage
The name focus is not something that makes me picture a car that looks like that
Makes me picture a commuter car you use to get from a to b
350hp awd in a hot hatch package is super cool
To be fair most commuter car still trying to be cool, plenty people that drives to commute and have family, still want a cool car at the same time, but not going to keep two, will go to those.
honestly I want to see more sports stations wagons
Unless the name is something like leaf, then I would expect it to be very gentle, but then look at the current Leaf, I think they also tried to look cool.
yes. that are made by someone other than Audi and Mercedes
exactly
I just want to have a car for everything
Could still the temperature sensor, just measuring off from what it's supposed to be, getting influenced by the weather which makes it more visible
I'd try to see if you can replace it, the part should be very cheap. I see them go for ~10 euros

sadly I have go to mechanic because car parts are unobtainable here to me
Idk how stuff works in Siwtzerland
In italy I could order some, but here I can't even pay online
Yeah I believe most people want their cars being as much of everything as possible.
(Looking at those crossovers
I want an suv, drift car, drag car, tow vehicle, electric w/ turbos
i want a drift car and a jeep
nice one
The paint on the Lambo tho
Looks pure ronald mcdonald
shes back
someone backed into it a while ago the shop finally fixed her up now its back home
dont mind my dad
Do the body panels line up now?
Very nice! Red and black looks so good!
what
thanks
no not "real" car, but screw it.
he's trying to make fun of your car because all teslas have panel gaps according to him
oh
i don't understand why people hate on teslas so much
that one i sent is my dads someone backed into it and it left a big dent and scratch
it happened on the 4th of july
neighbors backed into it
I hate Teslas just because of what's going on in the us where I live
You can ask that question for basically any brand which exists 😛
I am not entirely sure, for me it could be a lot of little things added up.
I probably knows why some people love it, but the business model, the interior, and the driving experience are not my cup.
I can understand that not everyone is fan of Tesla but why are the hating on it so much on them for no reason that is what I don't understand. And the fun thing is that most of the people that is hating on Tesla has never been in one or driven one at all.
I've explained my opinions here before, won't do it all again, but to summarize: still impressively bad build quality, no nearby stores, horrible right to repair/supply chain, no support, don't like the looks, don't agree with other things the company does, our Lord & Savior Elon Musk...
Additionally, people who drive them here basically all have them as company cars even they they actually couldn't afford it, but could due to tax advantages which made them barely drive it for free, but think they're better than everyone else on the road
Spot the year where you could drive it for basically free 🙃
Slight decline since, no-one wants one anymore
Oh, speaking be in one...
Model S is the reason of I stopped paying UBER extra for "Luxury car".
On the early years most of time those would be Class S or 7 series, and since Tesla I get model S EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Yeah that's definitely not worth it
The news one doesn't have bad build quality at special the cars that is made in China or berlin. I recently test drove a 2022 model y which was build in berlin and everything felt very premium and no panel gaps or loose panels and it was very quite on highway to which tesla has hade problem with earlier. Here in Sweden most people have them as company cars because its cheaper to have it as company car then own it privately so why would you own a car privately if you can own it trough your company and have a lower running cost ? Who wants to pay more when you can pay less for your car.
The right to repair problem are pretty horrible in my city too.
Now it takes like 3 months to repair a Tesla since the current event, and no one else could do it.
Yeah that is the biggest down side with tesla but their actually a lot of body shops that is tesla certified that are allowed to work on your car with out loosing the warranty.
I'm not against the company cars (although probably more than half is unnecessary but ok)... I am against using my tax money to subsidize company cars which are already subsidized, so people who should be driving Polo/Fiesta/Corsa/... can suddenly drive a Tesla and pay basically nothing. That's what I'm against
Luckily thay ended now, which is reflected in the sales numbers
As can be seen here
hello
tax fuckery seems to always benefit those who dont really need it 👀
Very nice isn't it?
Its the same thing here in Sweden most people don't buy their company car use it in their business they buy them to use them as private cars so you pay a bit mote tax on your income but basically nothing compared to owning the the same car privately so that why more then 50% of all new cars here in Sweden is company cars nowadays. And i am not blaming the people that are choosing to own their cars trough the company because I would have done the same if I could. Because its so much cheaper then owning it privately. Even my dads has done that with his Passat. And my Friends dads does the same to with their Teslas.
im not against electric cars more so modern cars
Here in my city they tax the car mostly by the type so company owned cars are a smaller problem.
id happily have an EV conversion made of standard parts but financially it makes nowhere near any sense yet
my gripe with EVs right now is how long they take to charge. I can swing by a gas station and go from 0 to full in like 5 minutes or less. As far as I am aware, thats just not possible with electric right now and likely wont be for some time
Do you mean EV on shared platforms or turning old ICE to EV?
old ice to EV
That would be some challenges as batteries aren't easy to place, but I think that would be very great.
Yeah but like I said, I'm not against the people having company cars 😛 I am against the fact of subsidizing luxury products such as cars
Like, a Model S/X you could drive multiple years for 0% tax, so that's literally driving for free. A freaking Aygo, you pay 22% as a company car
2019 Model 3, 4% tax, so people driving a 60k Model 3 pay ~100/month while some guy in a 15k Aygo pays almost ~200/month. And that's whay wrong imho
So it's benefit (low company car tax) on benefit (no BPM, specific car tax) on benefit (no road tax) on benefit (no fuel tax), which the average Joe can compensate for driving his 4th owner used car so a "rich" person can drive an Tesla
its very much possible and lots of people have done it.. at a cost
the motor controller alone could cost more than ive ever payed for a car
A modern tesla on supercharger v3 can charge from like 5% to 80% i don't se that as an problem that you need to stop for like 15 mins every 4 hours on road trip. And for you daily driving you can just charge at home over night and that means that you doesn't need to waste time going to gas station during daily driving.
Given batteries are big and heavy, I guess it would take more than just pulling out the ICE parts and place a motor to make the vehicle have decent range or driving experience tho.
I know this
You live in Netherlands right ?
most houses where I live only have street parking so "charging overnight" is eh unless they put in a bunch of charge points
Yes
plenty people park illegally so not like they are going to get charge points heh
Unless you need to do more than 300km a day just charge overnight.
For longer trips you will have to plan your stops at the charger so you will have less freedom.
are road taxes a thing here in the usa? i've never heard of anyone talking about that before
charge overnight, get sued by a pedestrian : )
I get that, but all of that is more cumbersome than what I have to do now, and im just not interested.
Yeah the whole "car thing" is pretty messed up over their right ? Isn't it unbelievable expensive to own a car privately in the Netherlands compared to rest of Europe ? And yeah your company car tax thing is pretty stupide to that you can basically drive a modern car for free even privately to. Here in Sweden you need to pay a "benefit" tax if you want to drive your company car privately but it still like 50% cheaper then owning the car privately and more then that if you have an ev as company car because you pay even less "benefit" tax then.
We usually pay close to half of a car as tax here in Hong Kong
And from what I heard Singapore 1up us, they need a special permit that cost a lot on top of the tax.
put your car under a company here so you speed and take the L on a big fine for the company failing to identify driver
certified richie movie
Especially for ICE it's fairly expensive, new/import cars (basically on first registration) have to pay an emissions tax which is already like 4-5k for a base Golf, and then road tax which for petrol is easily €60/month, diesel double, for a Golf sized car. Go to something like a 5er diesel, you're paying like 200/month in road tax. Emissions tax can really fluctuate from car to car tho, there are cases of cars costing more in tax than the car itself
But yeah such a tax also exists here, which allows you to drive a company car for private use. For EV's that used to be 0-4-7% up to any value, and 22% for any other car. Currently, it's 16% up to 35k and 22% above for EV, and 22% for other, which is to offset the additional cost for the same car in EV form. Which I'm okay with. That's also being reduced now every year until 2025, then all will be equal in expectance of EV becoming cheaper
do you have any old tax systems for like old cars or is just get fucked
like pre 2001 cars here have a different old tax system
£290/y over ~1.6l £170 odd under
25-40 y/o have a 25% rule, where you pay 25% but you can't drive it 25% of the year (dec-feb)
40+ y/o is excepted from tax
2001-2017 was based off co2 and fuck if I know the current system
But if you want to daily a 25-40 y/o car all year you pay full price
what im meaning is like we have different pricing systems depending on when the car was made
On really old cars here in Sweden i think it is after like 30 years you don't need to tax for them anymore at all on them.
Yeah no base price is determined on weight of the car and fuel type, age isn't a factor
ah
suprised they dont look at emissions but I guess that makes it easier and can be applied to all ages
So a 1986 petrol car of 1200kg is taxed the same as a 2022 1200kg petrol car
heh
Emissions are apparently only important on first registration
yeah I believe on 2017- cars we have that first registration shit
but thats a long way away for me heh
For which you can use the system which was present at the day of first registration, so if you import a car from 2015 you can use the calculation method of 2015 (of the current system, whichever is lower)
2017-
You basically need a PhD to understand the tax system xD
thats the first registration payments
then this is the yearly thereafter
For an example the "benefit" tax per month for a Tesla model y long range is around 5600sek which is around 560$ but you don't pay the full 560$ you only pay the same rate as you tax so if you have a tax of 50% which is pretty high but then you only pay 50% of that 560$ for the "benefit" tax on the car which is around 260$ a month which is stupid cheap for 80k car.
Kind of hard to explain, but
I and II are CO2 ranges
Take your CO2 emissions value and substract (I)
Multiply that value by IV
Add III
the amount of revenue streams they will be losing on the transition to EV's is quite substantial
and considering that they are subsiding the EV's too heh
currently no road tax and no money earned from a chonking fuel duty ofcourse that will change once EV's are everywhere
So 150g/km = 150 - 109 = 41 * 137 +2010 = 7627
Yeah same here really
cant wait for mileage tax for EV's when they take over 👀
Oh and I forgot, diesel gets an additional 86.67 per g/CO2 above 75g/km
So 150g/km diesel is the 7627 from above + (150 - 75) * 86.67 = 7627 + 6500 = 14125
It will probably be way worse for gas cars to when the milage tax becomes a thing to.
this is just when the car is first registered right, not on transfer of ownership
Luckily same for us xD
cheeky unplug speedo cable
Imagine if you have to pay 14k on each ownership transfer

Ngl an odometer is not required in a car
So a per mile system can be easily fooled. Also, what so you do when you drive abroad? Still tax them per km?
Well they have to get the lost revenue from somewhere
could just crank up that income tax
yeah but if you think most places in Europe fuel duty is like 50% of the cost right
making up for that
still beats like 2 euro fuel
So if you drive fairly economical, you do 16kWh/100km = 10.40/100km, = 5L/100km for petrol currently. Definitely achievable
Not much in it really
thought it would be less kw to be honest
But, can't really tax the electricity if it comes direct from solar panels, that doesn't go through your meter. And also, don't want to tax the electricity much harder for the rest of the house
the cars are so confuserised they could easily have a phone home mileage system required by big government
Well electricity is currently 3 times as expensive as normal, usually you'd be around 3.50/100km which is rather cheap
I still beat that with LPG tho
Electricity cost is no joke here in Sweden for us in was bit over 1000$ in February last year and we don't even have anything special that consumes a lot of electricity at home.
ofcourse someone might work out how to defeat it but :/
Glad our electricity usage is covered by our solar panels... As long as netting is a thing
or just ANPR cameras everywhere to determine distance : )
Solely drive country roads -> gg ez, no cameras

all the motorways around here are getting that smart shite so its something they could easily achieve
I say that, theres one maybe two motorways near me

they have variable speed limits camera enforced but the signs are literally dying
Ngl, hoping for a company car so I don't have to worry about anything.
And then get a big diesel for tbe fun drives which doesn't matter as I just pay per distance
I may be ditching university to become a roadside technician for a breakdown company so ill be condemned to a van turning up to people to pop open their bonnet and go yes its fucked m8
From what I heard form cities doing that just ask everyone get a sticker tag on the car if you want legally drive on certain roads and have receiver on every enrty/exit.
So basically our old toll systems.
Theres no toll roads in Scotland but when I was down in England I had to go online after my journey put in my reg number and pay.
I guess you could do it before but
Hmm toll road system, don't think that'll happen here. But could be
Damn it's 2.30AM... really gotta go now
Cya
the main bridge here used to have a gate toll system it was awful
cya
waiting on people fumbling around for pound coins
Same here my dad only pay for the distance that he is driving and its pretty oudated to so the price he is paying doesn't match the gas prices at all so the fuel economy doesn't matter for him at all. But the sad thing is that the wait time on a Cupra formentor was to long so couldn't get one it would have been so much funnier if he got a cupra instead of a diesel Passat.
I honestly think coin or even manual RFID needs to go from the toll stations given the alternative are pretty easy now.
more for “supercars at a drive thru”
Do not do this,
Coming from 9 years of automotive maintenance and an ase certification in general automotive knowledge,
i can say for certain that this will literally murder your filters and injectors, causing hundreds of dollars in repair bills.
DONT! I know gas is expensive but it’s not worth it!!
why are taxes so insane where you guys live
wtf why would people think this is good idea
BTW I know one effective trick most people wouldn't do.
I call it right foot discipline.
I can get 20% save by this trick (against myself, so YMMV)
Yeah the right way to maximize fuel economy is to sparingly use accelerations (no metalgassing), and to keep the tachometer as low as possible
The slower the engine is spinning, rpm, the less gas being used.
So apparently getting roof rails on a Mini Cooper F56 is 9 hours of labor?
😏
Anything is possible in under a minute if you’re willing to jerry rig it
Whether it’s done correctly is another story
It's... drilled in and involves taking off the headliner as far as I understand
There's no rack system avail without it
I've seen jank VHB'd options that look OEM but lol I'm not relying on VHB for automotive
Pro racing teams drill the bolts through the headliner for easier maintenance
Hell they sometimes even remove it
You used to be able to side clamp on the R56
I feel you man
Now it's just
Aaaaaaa
So yeah 9 hrs of labor at BMW shop rates
I'll let you guess the cost
American dollars
I would say they did go easy on you if they charge less than 1 grand.
Take it back, you got ripped off
For 3 grand I could have an entire engine rebuild with a turbo kit
I am so sorry for you mate,
Unless you are going to sell them soon or if you are driving those hyper luxury cars the Brand shop usually aren't worth it.
I'm not really sure who would install at cheaper rates if it takes the company 9 hours
but I can check around
Corporations don’t get that big without swindling costs
OR I COULD ASK @pallid sky
Companies allways overcharge
I garuntee if it takes the company 9 hours it would take anywhere else 6 hours or less
Also it would be cheaper, as dealership/companies add a “convenience fee”
Keeping a full "genuine (brandname)" service record helps second handed price, so many people with those half million cars probably keep doing it.
But for average us we just go to the average local workshop :p
Also they got a nice lounge and people in suits to talk with if you are into that kind of things.
Here in America I bought a Cadillac Escalade from the showroom,
I wanted a bigger alternator because I like sound.
They quoted me 800 dollars and 7 hours to install a 200 amp alternator
The part is 170 dollars and labour comes out to 75 dollars, at my rates, (alternators are only a 30 minute job, don’t be fooled)
So it would cost around 280 dollars said and done if I’d have taken it to a local business,
And only 170 if I put it in myself
PS I’m ase cert. so I’m a pro technician, and if I was to put it in myself, it would be approved on any service record.
An ASE isn’t a hard thing to get, just a lot of learning, but it will save you a lot of coinz in the future
I saw this on Youtube too but it doesn't look like Thule's selling it anymore. I had something similar on a 3-D before. Also wondering how it wouldn't interfere with the glass.
It looks like they are using the weather sealing lip for the rigidity,
My educated guess would be that there is a screw that tightens a plate that rests in the lip to the top of the car
Like a monitor or microphone arm
Confirmed it's discontinued
So you need to find leftover parts
and it's been gone for 4 years now
Another thing that sucks about that setup is the capacity is reduced
Two bikes is too heavy for it
Probably because the design allows water to leak in through the weather stripping
Um, not necessarily
The entire 3-door adaptation lineup's gone
Not all of them caused weather seal issues
It’s a cool idea for seldom use cases
In that case yeaaaaaaaah I don't know
Saw some cool wheels, was on mobile so I couldn’t get shutter speed correct
Here’s a cool picture of the caddy,
btw it has a vortec 3000 LS series v8 that has around 620 ponies after the suspension upgrade and port&polish
If you watch this you are going to die of cringe
My Floridaman mobile is cringier
OK I will say it is
Looks like he is having fun so, well.
I'm picking up a manual Honda prelude on Sunday(US cst) with an h22 JDM swap motor, it has a turbonetics 60mm turbo pushing 8psi. It has oil pressure, boost and air-fuel gauges. When I test drove it everything worked amazing and it was super fun. When I meet back up to pay for it, what are some big things to look out for mechanically and what is the best course of action down the road to maintain it?
It will be my first boosted vehicle
Oh and what should I do if I want to drive it as a daily
being perfectly blunt here,
but remove the turbo, or at least install a bypass valve, because daily driving a turbo has no real benefit and adds lot of problems for longevity of your mechanical systems.
but yeah remember that the more in the line from intake to exhaust, the more that can go wrong at the stoplight.
that's why SOHC NA engines like the LS series are so great and reliable, because they are so damn simple and they're easy to work on because they are so damn simple.
in DOHC type vtec engines like the h22, i would suggest a timing belt change to a chain if it isnt already, because even the slightest warping on a rubber belt can fuck your timing up and you could end up blowing a rod. (it happens a lot)
this also might add a cool hemi-esque sound to your revups
make sure to oil the turbo regularly if you don't remove it, and if its semi-bypassed, oil it after 7 ish hours of total runtime at 8 psi because i am thinking you would be metalgassing on green lights with a tricked out prelude like that : )
Yeah the blow off valve is limited to 8 psi that turbo can push up to 12 psi lol. Are timing chain conversions that hard? Also sounds expensive like I have to get custom sprockets
How would I go about "oiling" a turbo?
That is silly
Relax. None of what @uneven wolf posted makes any sense at all.
The blow off valve does not limit the boost pressure - that is the role for the wastegate. There is no reason to worry about driving a turbo h22 as a daily especially at very reasonable pressures from what it seems.
Converting from a timing belt to a chain is... that's mind bending lol
The belts are made of kevlar reinforced rubber and last 75k - 100k miles per replacement usually
A turbo car tuned properly will generally get better mileage than it's NA counterpart. For instance I do a lot of turbo BMW setups and a stock S50 or S52 (3.0/3.2L) 6 cyld will get like 28 mpg highway while the same exact car/engine but with a tidy tuned gt35r will do 30 - 32 mpg while cruising. Much more available torque under the curve and requires less throttle angle to do the same work on the highway. Sure, it can also get worse mileage if hooning, but that's the beauty of it.
Soonaekoo does not sound very experienced but I've got one BMW chassis with 210k miles about 115k of which are on aftermarket turbo setup making over 600rwhp - 900 rwhp. No issues with anything that I didn't intentionally do.
60mm low boost on an h22 is rock solid so long as the tune and supporting parts are good quality
Yeah, the previous owner said it was street tuned by a professional and he's been daily driving it so I'm not too worried, but would it be a good idea to get a Dyno done? The motor has 150k and it's pushing about 250-300 whp
@sinful creek more practical suggestion - when you check it out, ask about the tune, who tuned it, is it a stock ecu flash (like hondata) or a piggyback or standalone, etc. When looking at the air/fuel gauge, ask if its a narrowband or wideband gauge/sensor. For oil pressure - make sure it is working, ask if its an electronic or mechanical oil pressure gauge and take a look at actual oil pressure especially when the engine is warm and at idle
But nothing exact since it hasn't been on a dyno
I would not worry about a dyno
It's hondata
I have cars that break necks on dynos and have shit street drive-ability
Lol
the most important thing from the sound of it to you is that it drives well
so make sure it does that properly - no stalling, no smoking, etc.
Yeah I've driven a few manual cars and this one immediately drove amazing compared to them lol
Nice - yeah souunds like its sorted
You can usually tell within 30 secs if you are buying someone elses nightmare
It's an aggressive clutch though so stalling in first happens lmao
Yeah I mean more like you roll to a light and the engine falls thru the idle, etc.
but since its hondata its all stock idle control, etc. it should be pretty good
But yeah everything else seemed solid idk if the a/f was wideband but it was showing 1-1.15
that's in "lambda"
Ahh
the E85 tune may raise questions
does it have map switch for pump gas
also yeah 6 puck clutches are a little brutal, but you'll get used to it
I went from a 6 puck to a 3 puck to a 4 puck
No it would need to be retuned I've got plenty of e85 stations where I live
and then i said fuck all this and went to a carbon fiber twin disk
Lmfao
OK so long as you have e85 stations - does it have a flex fuel sensor
You'll want to check because E85 can be 50% ethanol or 85%
with no sensor the ECU doesn't know the ethanol content and the tune will be on/off
so worth checking
For sure
Maintenance wise though what's the next thing to do
if i brought that car home today I'd do a boost leak check and compression check
maybe a leak down check
compression/leak down just for my own peace of mind
boost check to make sure its not leaking anywhere
Aight I got a mechanic friend with those tools I can take it to for all that
Yeah - for boost leak what I do is pull the air filter/inlet to the turbo and clamp a PVC pipe cap of the right size in the silicone coupler/etc.
Drill a hole and put an air fitting, hook up to an air compressor and pressurize it
listen for leaks
While doing a boost leak check I'd also give the compressor wheel a jiggle
in and out, but also concentrically to make sure the turbo bearings are decent
it'll move a smidge but should not contact the housing
Awesome, thanks for all the help you know a lot and that all seems pretty reasonable if I run into anything you mind if I @/dm you?
Sure np
👌
Yuh
what he neglects to mention is that turbo bmws lose an average of 20 percent of their value each year, and the parts are absolute dogwater. if youre talking longevity, NA is the way to go
Lol
I bought my E30 for $1800 they sell for $15k+
my man, dont defend bmw
they have almost as bad of a reputation as Maserati for overpriced cars that break down and cost too much to repair literal plastic parts
No offense bud but I don't personally think you're qualified
K
I've got 9 cars and my BMWs are broken the least 🤣
But you told a dude to convert a car to timing chain...I'm the newb
okay m8.
pun intended, milage may vary. but seriously, vortec lsv8s last an average of 500,000 miles
My e34 daily driver 525i had 415k miles
I got rid of it because I had a kid and needed reliable ac
My E46 330 did 350k miles
I had a ls1 trans am very broken who cares
👍 ⬆️ trans ams were shit, congrats you won a 🏅
It's the same engine bro
not at all m8 XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Piston slap like you wouldn't believe
XDDDDD
Dude just put a bypass valve in and convert it to a timing chain
bro said the ls1 was the same as the vortec 3000 XDDDDDDDDDDD
Same bottoms ends there bud
I'm not sure you've ever seen inside of an engine before so I'm going to hang this one up
yeah okay man but the ignition chambers are n ot only 2 whole litres apart, they burn on completely different compression methods
okay man
youre a freken genius
lmaoo
I'm witnessing the great divide rn
No you don't I sell ECUs in the UK and Australia nobody calls an ignition chambers
I LIVE IN US
HA
nobody in the usa calls it an ignition chamber lmao
What fucking ape calls them ignition chambers
This is bizarre

I got to go do weekend stuff My brain hurts
have fun
See my issue with bmw is that they go out of their way to make things hard to self service
The 90s ones were pretty doodoo i don't like how they look
they were all round bad cars with neutered performance
oh cool, they should be a pretty good mix
Year ago before i stripped it
idk why but seeing the air duct at the top for the manifold makes me want to scream COLD AIR INTAKE
That was the downfall of the original engine
A previous owner left that off and that's the top of the air cleaner
when you finish the build, you should enter this thing in us called the bandit run.
the guys that host it are really cool, i joined with a vortec swapped Saturn station wagon, and they were like, sure.
So weather destroyed the engine
its for owners of the trans ams, but if you like american cars in general its a fun time
I would love to do that
I've put a lot of effort into this car so far and it still has a long way to go
I dare say my all time favorite car
Even though I'm 20 i do know what Smokey and the bandit is :p
Thats why i like it
That and cannonball run
i loved the early 70s American muscle before the tariffs hit especially, because they looked good, sounded good, and were quite powerful
ive always wanted to do this one, but i never did it
😩
But the opening of the movie with the cop chasing the countach, the cop car was anothet 2nd gen trans am xD
do you remember KITT from another cheesy 80s show?
Hell yeah
I want a 3rd gen like that to go with my 2nd gen
I almost bought an 83 that was way more junked out
But then stumbled across what i have rn
That 83 was selling for 800 bucks to tell you how junked it was xD
I might have the old post image
Nah i don't see it anywhere
the 80's/90's are the only time i think that the corvette was the worst sports offering in gm
yeah the 70s were rough too
70s corvettes look great
but they really fucked up with the technical revolution in the 80/90
Did they tho?
i have a friend that has a white 69
The ZR-1 is probably one of the pinnacle Vettes
Took GM 30 years to produce an engine as advanced for the vette again.
Released in 1984, the Chevrolet Corvette C4 embraced a sleeker, more futuristic style than previous generations. From 1985 to the end of production in 1996, the C4 saw a steady increase in horsepower with each engine upgrade. Offshoots such as the ZR1 broke speed records and became collectibles.
I'm not seeing anything in this thing that points to GM fucking up.
3 of them are C4s
of which the 95 pace car they don't like because it's paint is weird.
Not because it was bad
guarantee if you were to buy one now, it would have a check engine light
they were built like shiz and they are horrible to work on
the electronics especially, are horrible
I have a 94 caddy with an lt1 engine that would have been in the corvettes i believe
Otherwise someone here is going to have to defend the C3's smog pumps, emissions, and still less then stellar build quality.
yes
Before Cadillac decided to use bubblegum for bolts in the northstar
but compare them to literally any other gen besides 1st gen, because that wasn't a sports car, and youll see what i mean
I am, and the C3 was worse.
Man's the type of guy to say ABS ruined the Corolla
Lmao
There is nothing worse than a malaise era American car with emissions.
but at least they drove for more than 200000 miles if you loved them
Nahhh who needs abs 😂
Anything goes 200k if you loved them.
So do C7s
Hell I'm not sure there are any first year C7s with the original engine.
not all ls are the same,
no it had an l8x
What year?
ls didnt come out until 90s
If it was early 90s it should have an lt1
Or LT4 I believe
The best small block Chevy built in the 90s wasn't a small block.
I've heard a lot of controversy over whether or not the engine I'm putting in the firebird is an ls
I really don't know
I really don't care either
I mean... if it's an LS it's an LS.
Its a 2004 truck 5.3
Otherwise could just be a what... small block 350? or something
I still find it funny when a 5.7L or something is called a small block
People argue about that era of engine and whether it's an ls
I just care about it making power
If you care about power, should have done a K-swap brah
Its a cast iron block lm7 so i think it will work
yeah they were in development for the gt version of c4 in 97 i think
Yeah found that out later, but first I was like wot and I still find it funny 😛
pretty much
I'm not putting a k series motor in an American muscle car xD
Yeah I'm one of them 😂
Angrier than Linus on paint.
Only vette you'd get me in would be either a C5 or C6
Gotta have the LS
One of the benefits of this setup is that i don't have to fabricate engine mounts or anything like that
I just buy all that shit from Holley
I really don't see myself getting something like that right
What ever works
I barely even know what I'm doing as it is
I know people are keen on custom soluttions
But I love my turnkey solutions that let me engine the finished product
I just hope i put that 4l80 together right
It's a GM transmission. Don't worry it'll explode soon anyway. That's how the joke goes, right?
I had to convert it to 2wd from 4wd so i pulled it all apart
🤔
It would have gotten a stick shift but i wanted to try adding paddle shifters
So i have a trans controller that will let me wire some up
hey, but a testament to the designer of the vortex compression typed vortec LS
my water pump, ( cast iron and half the size of my engine fsr) my rear distro box and my suspension broke before i even got my first check engine light
Not much of a testament to anything else tho
XD but at 400,000 miles
Das a lotta miles
heres my exact engine, btw
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ENGINE IS SO EASY, except the power steering pump which requires removing the alternator, but everything else is a dream to work on
Put it in a Datsun and it's not so easy
too true m8
i stuffed this into a 2004 saturn l300 sw
but the placement of serviceable parts are awesome
this is one of the ugliest cars i've ever seen
https://electrek.co/2022/06/23/toyota-recalls-bz4x-electric-cars-wheels-falling-off/ like the exact same car lmao
Toyota issued a recall on 2,700 bZ4X electric cars, roughly all the ones produced to date (though most undelivered), over the potential of wheels falling off. The bZ4X is Toyota’s first global electric car. Toyota launched the electric SUV in the US earlier this year at a starting price of $42,000. It is a very […]
wtf
Toyota and Subaru has a couple of shared platforms.
I'm having to buy most of the rebuild parts for my supercharger build from Budapest
It's getting kind of expensive
Hate the red interior
Love the red interior
Everything other than black, +1
That EfficientDynamics sticker tho
Never seen that before
Maybe not applied here, or immediately removed after/at delivery
I think it was also only applied on diesels here
Specifically the 320d for the F30
Might as well sit in ugly while going slow
Ah 320i also apparently
I have a few good pumps but would quite like to keep the Bosch one so looking at rebuilding it or paying someone to rebuild it

Better than white
White can be dyed though
I like my white interiors.
Beats all black.
Modern cars are kinda boring. Not even two tone. Just here's your black on black shiny plastic with a hint of maybe carbon fiber veneer.
Except it's usually done with poor execution and in 4 years you wish it were black
3 years later, and my Corolla still looking fairly good.
Both my cars are/were grey on grey on grey - my caddy had light blue vents tho...
If i actually would get something where i could choose interior colour to my desires, id end up with black anyways with light blue stitching sooo... Im probably not the most creative
is 44psi too much?
I put sum air in my stinger and the wheel is on 44psi
rest is ~40
google says the tire psi should be 36. not sure what the card says on your car tho
Yes
Unless you have a special vehicle 44 definitely too much.
The tire often can take something like 50 without problem (look for the rating), but driving experience / performance would suffer, usually your car have a sticker telling how much you should pump, look around the driver's door.
alright thanks
I'm in the middle of a 15 hours road trip I'm not at a station rn so if I try to blow out some air I might risk putting it at a low tire pressure
I was brave enough to stop at let some air out and now it's down 2psi
so ~42
44 will also surely wear the center of the tire faster
42 still too high. It'll go up as the tire gets hot
I'd Target 36-38
mach E and a rav 4 had an ugly child
exactllyy omg
90's rav4 looks pretty cool imo
this pisses me off in the "Transmitting video over 20,000ft?! - HOLY $H!T"
some damm flower stuck in car
litteraly next moment they said about it......
i feel so dumm
Parked next to the flowers, and it got caught in the door as they closed it.
ye.... i expected that....
I'm bothered more by the license plate position
Tow hook adapter.
Instead of drilling/sticking tape to the bumper.
Or wait. The the license plate isn't where the tow hook is. It could actually be a custom made license plate holder.
Looked around a bit more. And there are options to buy where it mounts at the bottom of the bumper like that.
Just not using the tow hook.
What's funky with relocating the license plate from the standard. Is that you might mess with the parking sensors if placed over them.
Yeah those are specific license plate holders, I don't like them 😛
I just like them in the centre, except an Alfa, then it's allowed to have it on the side 😛 Driver side tho
Yeah. Alfa's are meant to have them on the side. Especially since they have their V-shaped grill.
Yeah so that's basically all of them
Has there been an Alfa in the last few decades with the plate in the centre? I don't think so
Hmm 145/146/155/164 apparently, but since the late 90s all had them on the side
Yeah, doesn't look as good
Ah first gen 166 also had it in the centre, prefer the facelift at the side
Grill got noticeably bigger
In Italy I've also seen Fiat vans with an Alfa grill attached to it
Yeah so basically like this
Because it's a shared platform with like 3 other cars.
Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat.
I read it more as people slapping alfa badges on fiats on their own
They did.
(or well not exactly that one but another dutch one)
"The vehicle in the picture which is from the nineties is a Peugeot/Citroen co-operation with an Alfa Romeo heart glued over the normal grille."
Yeah
I like the glued part.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citroën_Jumpy#/media/File:Peugeot_Expert_white_front.jpg Seems to match pretty well
..no discord not that image
so 1st Gen Citroen Jumpy with a ...alfa badge on it

Might as well have an Alfa badge.
@civic spoke Found you!
(My camera had the wrong scene setting(Sunset setting instead of landscape))
Better than the Tesla’s steering yoke.
American vanity plate on a Swedish registered truck?
On which plate should the police write the ticket on? 👮
does anyone with experience w bodykits wana help me out on smth
the whole point of having 4 antenna is so the device can proccess signal better. But they canf't do that if they're just clumped together, miss angled. DJI should include an antenna mount.
Found an alpina e30 with a bmw m shift knob
But it has the right shifting layout what confuses me 👀
Is it a dogleg pattern?
Shhh I don't have the money / time for a second vehicle, but part of me has wanted a Clubman forever.
New forced induction setup 👌
I wish the SE had enough range to make the kinds of road trips I do.
Now you listen here...
What would it take to put you behind the wheel of a new 2023 Clubman S All4 with the Signature Package?
Help! I'm being sold car insurance for a vehicle I don't even own yet that I cannot afford! takes out loan anyway.
not enough static pressure 😡
swag fr
yessir
Yeah... The Chinese version (upcoming generation) will somewhat but I have trust problems
heck I'm not even that hyped to have found out the batteries from the SE are sourced from CATL
Same! I was hoping that BMW would, you know, build them internally (like Volkswagen AG)
Or even Fiat
Apparently the Samsung batteries were just ok so who knows
In my car the recommended tyre pressure is 33psi but I fill 34psi , will it make any difference
it'll be fine if it's that small
the more over you go the more uneven tread wear you can get and the higher chance of a blowout you have
The rule here in Arizona in the summer is that if you have to choose between going over or being under, choose going over
Yes

So "he" bought a car without even looking up the license plate to se witch model it was or is it just in Sweden you can latterly se all the details about a car and history just buy searching up the plate you can even se witch the old owners was and all of their information to and where they lives and what cars they own and everything like that.
I was actually impressed by the "took off all 40i to pretend M3" part.
Yet as soon as the Dashboard lights up it says M340i
So yeah no way you don't notice that if you brought that.
It might able to fool bystanders that don't really know much details or looked closely tho.
I think that you can code it to say that its an M3 instead of a M340I. But you cant be that stupide to buy a M340I and think that it is an M3. Doesn't the m3 have 2 M buttons on the steering wheel witch the m340I doesn't have their is latterly no why that you can mistake an M340i to an M3 if you know anything about BMW witch the probably knows because they where looking to buy an M3.
i mean if it was his car the title would say that it’s not an m3
and the owners manual
Yeah, one must be really love M3 to pay M3 money for a M3, so most of them would know enough details.
A Rich normie probably wouldn't get a M3 over a 7 series for the same money.
a true rich normie would just get an X5
a more civilized oversized metal box for a more oversized age
real men drive 316i compact e36
lol I think you are right
Imagine choosing an X5 over a 5er
When the one in your backseat have enough weight (in both sense) and you can only keep one car for everything.
imagine choosing an X5.
Angry SUV hater noises
i car
rip ryan fellows
mazda dbs
A lot of people will look at the badge because that's what they know.
Looks better.
Hey. I got a question for yall. would anyone happen to recognize what car this is based off of? I think its a 1990 era buick regal but im not sure
Looks like a Willard Faction to me I tell ya what
idk man looks like the gravil grand marshal
I love beamng!!!!
same lmao
i4 m50 probably can get more people confuse
I've seen a couple of those.
I remember back when an even number meant 2 door.
Now it means Coupe. Maybe. IDK?
i4 m50 are popular AF here
They are EV, have nice performance, have the M vibe, and are cheap.
The non-M one sell quite well too.
They also got Hans Zimmer space ship engine sound if you are into that kind of thing.
I think it is because the i3 was taken so then need to come up with another number.
what are bmw doing with their grills?💀
IDK, they say they gonna place a lot of sensor here but I think they just want to keep their old grill design.
I don't have any theory for the iX tho, why BMW why.
ik right now the cars only look good in all black or dark colours because then you can barely see the grill
The iX1 one are back to normal tho, if you don't think too hard they just look like a normal X1
yeh hopefully all the others return as well
Maybach X Noctua
Isn't too bad on the i7 tho, that kinda wide enough.
Noctua premium colour confirmed.
Changed the temperature sensor, it was actually damages because sometimes it was giving garbage signals.
But it still overheats
From obd port it hovers around 100-105
At worst it goes to 110
Weird.... I have no idea what else it can be
The mechanic tells me the radiator might be to small
Didn't he say that it was a 2019 model that was before they got ugly (new generation) of the m3
I wouldn't say that they are cheap the cost around the same as M340i. Here in Sweden they are not that popular but I saw a lot of them during our Norway road trip. But the middle class Norwegian is pretty "rich" to and evs are cheap over there compared to the rest of Europe.
I honestly think it has not enough cooling capacity
That's hilarious
I mean.. he got the better looking car and apparently he didn't realize it for a while anyways
Well a Diesel should be obvious
Meh
I ordered a replacement screen for the OBC in my E30
from ebay
came in like 1 day...was insane
turns out the seller with like thousands of E30 products for sale is about 9 mins from me
I see people on their 3row SUVs on a lane with 2.10 meters width restriction... So I know people don't know the width of their cars
You'd think they'd realize when they cant pass a lorry but na they're determined
I dunno what a meter is but there's a very obvious difference between an M3 and an M340i lol
(joking about the meter)
Tis a silly saloon, boot is not well suited for engine moving
I like it as i can spread my stuff out more though
Hmmm that's odd, unless the used radiator has less capacity than the original
But, if it never boils over in any case, ngl I'd probably just keep it like that
hard to tell what RPM it reached but the redline is like 4200
Pretty sure it went above that
Atleast this one is running away because of a fuel injection issue and not a consuming its own oil issue
Bringing me to the brink of using a petrol engine
Would be running using my lucas pump and injectors but I really want the bosch system which conveniently has been sitting outside for a year
Absolut chad move would have been to act like they own a shitbox
Theres a valeter going through the cars at my work and I am like I cant pay you enough to fix this
the carpet in the rest of the car is grey but the drivers carpet area is just all black with oil it reeks of transmission fluid to the point ive gone nose blind to the small of transmission fluid
Going to try and keep the 305 respectable, the saab is too far gone
It's a new one
applying to run parts at a subaru dealership oh boy
Yeah sorry meant the one you used, the after market one
Um
IDK if it's actually thinner than the OEM
That ceramic stuff at the self service car wash is stopping me from cleaning the dirt off lmao
maybe the pressure will get it
hopefully
did you ceramic coat dirt?
maybe I could buy a Peugeot Racing radaitor
it seems the aftermarket one is 18mm thick.
If i did check correctly it should be 24mm thick
Is it? Can't really find factory dimensions, but Valeo has 2: 18mm for manual and 27mm for the automatic version?
IDK
maybe a thicker one could solve the overheating issue
turning on the heat on max cools it down enough to maintain the temperature
Does makes sense, but kinda stupid to get another new radiator...
maybe I could go the the mechanic that did this
since I have comeback to poland, but the problem I can't drive when engine temp gets to 110c
that's what I'm planning to do when I return
but can't do it when I go to work
but yeah. from what I can find it should be thicker for my model year
Could be true
Thickness alone does not decide success though (no inuendo)
but ths radiator was pretty inexpensive
Yeah that's okl
I just needed my car to go because the OEM bursted due to a small hole
it could be a 2 pass, 3 pass, etc.
or it could be shit
but thickness alone does not qualify the effectiveness
also It didn't start overheating till summer
Depending on fin density a thinner radiator actually has lower statis pressure in front of it so has potential, maybe, to cool better
so many variables
I like living in a climate where my radiator with barely any fins left packed full of calcium is acceptable
god knows if the fan works its never gotten hot enough, needs a new thermostat.
but I might blame the radiator because nothing else is wrong
inb4 just needs bled
also I'm with no thermostat installed
your car is overheating w/o a thermostat installed?
I had my coolant system flushed and the radiator is new
yep
What engine
still french cars are often mmmm when it comes to coolant system bleeding
2.0 16v
305 is bloody annoying to bleed
I suspect you probably have more significant issues than a couple mm thinner radiator
have you felt the radiator to see if its actually getting hot or if it has cold spots
The radiator feels super flimsy
It just like bends without using the force
lol we need a pic of this
oh god i just finally figured out your picture is thermal paste on a cpu
That's correct
i always thought it was an amazon box for some reason
my biggest fans which arent even needed
That appears to be your ordinary, run of the mill radiator on a 2.0L engine
nothing offensive about it
All I get is peugeot 206 1.1-1.6 radiators on Google
the amount of time you have spent on this have you considered visiting a professionel
diy all the way
diy if you are actually going to make progress heh
even my local shop that ive trusted for a good 10 years
This does not looks anything like mine
still does really stupid shit
Or maybe it's the type of tubing?
I don't have a place to do it
why did the bot just censor that last one lol
Took my diesel pump to a specialist as that can remain a black box as far as I care
If the car is overheating, and if the original radiator "exploded" I would suspect headgasket issues before I suspect "this radiator is just too small to cool a plebian 2.0L engine"
block of gold
you seem to know a lot are you a professional? 😂
I dabble
so kind of like me then i see
I've been doing this car thing for like .... 18 years now
Na. It was because it had a hole and I ran it on water
oldie :^)
i probably have an addiction
Yes, but if it "burst" then it was over pressurizing
im thinking about adding a 5th option to the fleet
I've done things
that looks about like my firebird right now minus the fenders
friend burst his radiator putting cold water in immediately, k seal solves all
I caught it before it exploded
@fathom socket have you seen the size of radiators honda civics can run on?
Nope
Waters all you need
i have never thought about putting cold water in a radiator but i imagine if its at operating temp thats going to be quite a catastrophic thermal shock on the system
Turbo 1.8 - 2.2L engines running a radiator that's like 11" wide and 1.25" thick
I suspect you have a headgasket issue or similar
Nothing indicates for headgasket
you have a new radiator and its overheating
No coolant dissappearing, no white smoke, sniff test gives nothing
Bud if I had $5 for every time I thought that's what it took...
block testers exist for a reason :^ |
It could be air
it could be a broken water pump impeller
but I doubt it's the radiator being too small
Then idk
especially with how much airflow they get while moving at all
yeah
Unless running water pump for 20 mins dry would kill it
how was a water pump running dry for 20 mins
a) yes it could b) you drove a car for 20 mins w/o water?
Is thir anyway to turn on dark/night mode on android auto ? Its very Bright right now and annoying during night driving.
Because it was winter and I didn't know it was leaking coolant
my head unit did it based off the lights which were wired in when I had a car with one
yeah usually you piggyback the headlight switch
or
the factory harness has a trigger etc
Now what I'm gonna do if I have only 800 euros to fix my car
Did you run the car w/o water for 20 mins?
I just assume I did
oof
But like in total
And later I drove without any water for like 2 mins
